    AB Stoddard>>>>>>>>>>Beltway bubble

All right wing talking points and wish list for 2014 on hardball just now.

Wow! If things go as she says the democrats have had everything go bad for them.

The economy is getting better, and she is discounting that! That’s a biggie!

Immigrant groups are protesting at PBO’s Chgo appearance. Some group organized by Undocumented Illinois laid down chained together on Michigan Ave., 12 arrested. Had all kinds of complaints, said they don’t like the immigration bill before the senate.

    • May 29, 2013 at 8:01 pm

Why aren’t they lying in a chain in front of Congress?

      • 45 theo67
        May 29, 2013 at 8:10 pm

Indeed. Shouldn’t they be protesting Rubio, who wants all the credit for any immigration bill? I seem to recall that the GOP asked President Obama to stay out of the immigration bill-making process, so they could deprive him of any credit – even though he’s the one who got the ball rolling.

Another example of this PBO being held to higher standards. I never understood why people always turn against the person who is trying to help them.

Because they don’t have any dam sense, that is why they are not protesting in front of Congress.

Ok, not at all related to your comment, but a question for a fellow Trekker: As an African, shouldn’t Uhura have more of a lilt to her English? I mean if Chekhov can speak English with a Russian accent, then why can’t Uhura do so with more of a typically African accent (i.e. South African or Nigerian)? It didn’t bug me as a kid, because I didn’t know better. But now? Yeah, it bugs me. (It would also make her Klingon a lot hotter.)

(Then again, the Lord of the Rings movies bugged me as well due to their rather annoying deviations from the text.)

Obama: Dem-control of House would solve obstacles

CHICAGO — Returning to the town that launched his political career, President Barack Obama gave a boost Wednesday to Democrats chasing control of the House, telling donors he’s still seeking compromise with Republicans – but if that fails, it’s up to Democrats to finish the job.

Joined by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, his former chief of staff, for a reception at a glitzy hotel in downtown Chicago, Obama said he said he is looking for Republicans in the House majority “for whom compromise is not a dirty word.” But, he said, the best way to work around GOP obstructionism “is to have a Democratic House of Representatives.”

I said this many days ago……In FL, they shoot 1st and ask questions later.

CBS is now reporting that it is looking like that in this case….. 😦

The man killed by an FBI agent during questioning about his relationship with one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects was unarmed when the agent shot him, law enforcement officials told the Washington Post.

Ibragim Todashev, 27, was interrogated for hours on May 22 in Orlando, Fla., regarding his connection with Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who died during a shootout with police days after the bombing.

Law enforcement officials initially told ABC News that, Todashev “just went crazy,” brandishing a knife and stabbing the FBI agent.

Some background on this week’s trip to South America for Joe Biden:

“The competition between the world’s two biggest economies for influence in Latin America is on display this week as U.S. Vice President Joe Biden visits Rio de Janeiro today near the end of a three-nation tour of the region with Chinese President Xi Jinping close behind.”

Now that Memorial Day is behind us, does this mean that Congress will delay doing anything meaningful until after Labor Day? (Serious question, they’re in session for less than one-third of the year.)

Why does MSM not apply any pressure at all to Congress for being all talk (against PBO) and no action?

Does anyone know whether Reid will hold another vote on gun safety background checks?

Red states strongly support background checks
New PPP polls in Arkansas, Georgia, and Tennessee find that even in dark red states there’s strong, bipartisan support for expanded background checks. And as we’ve found elsewhere, voters are unhappy with their Senators who voted against them…

So how do you think the Republicans will fill about James Comey being nominated. I have a feeling they won’t like it.

They can’t help it. This man holds the key to Bush’s illegal war declarations and WH crooked dealings. I look forward to the confirmation hearings. Dems have a real chance to uncover a rats nest.

I’m very curious to see what the republicans will come up with to oppose his nomination. They are surely digging and digging and digging right now…

Whatever they do will expose a lot of previously covered butts. If the Dems play this right, I anticipate a lot of fall out with the rwnj’s.

Thank you for posting the video of the Red Sox game starter. I also saw it on NBC news, and it is totally moving. I was born a member of Red Sox nation. Ted Williams was a god in our house. For those of you who are young…..He was the splendid splinter who could see better and hit farther and more accurately than anyone else. He also served in the Marines during World War II, taking time out of his baseball career.
When we lived in Chicago we went to a White Sox/Red Sox game. Ted Williams hit a home run……the four people standing and yelling for him in Comiskey Park were my dad, my mom, my sister and I. My sister and I didn’t really know what had happened, but our mom and dad were cheering so we did too. The people around us were not very happy with us!!!
