Chat Away

****

73,492 gazillion thanks to UT for this morning’s highly wonderful R&S – apart from that blue bit at the end, which was a disgrace.

Back in a bit, I’ve almost met yesterday’s work deadline 😎

So why aren’t Little Lying Lindsey calling General Petraeus to testify? I guess Lindsey base want him to pick on the black woman, and the black President, instead of the white Republican general.

Good one. I don’t have any respect for a journalist who, just for the glory of a “scoop”, blows up the cover of an intelligence operation aimed at preventing terrorist attacks. Their faux outrage about the 1st amendment is disingenuous.

Journalists have rights, but they also have responsibilities.

I’m blaming my little dog Kasper on today’s weather, since I am reconsidering his summer shave-down grooming scheduled for tomorrow. Yes. He is that Powerful.

Jees. “for” today’s weather, not “on” today’s weather.

Dealing with a lot of sadness today. My husband’s best friend is putting his beloved dog to sleep today. I am conflicted – I would have fought longer and harder and gotten a second opinion – I’m one hell of a doggie nurse. I have made my suggestions and we’ve offered to do anything and everything we could but ultimately I must support his decision. At my husband’s urging, he got this dog after an ugly divorce, almost 10 years ago. My husband was there to pick up the dog when he was a brand new puppy, and will be there at his last moment. Next to his ‘daddy’, Hemingway loved my husband the best. We cried all night and I daresay for days to come.

I’ve sent my Rufus, Calliope, Harvey and Pilgrim over the rainbow bridge, ready and waiting to play ball and run in the park with Hemingway. Thanks as always for your kind thoughts.

57andfemale, a pet is a family member, no matter what the family. Friends are the family we choose, pets are the family we choose — they don’t call them “man’s best friend” for nothing!
Wishing you and yours fond, happy memories. 🙂

Thanks. Hemingway was the true embodiment of a ‘companion’. I’m concerned for our friend, who is now retired, went through an ugly divorce and has little to distract him from his grief. We’ll do whatever we can so he knows he’s not alone. This is quite a hearrtbreaker; but to me, the love we receive from these wonderful furry friends is worth the heartbreak when we lose them.

In time, we’ll get him to open his heart again. It won’t be easy, he’s not an easy man, but I’m sure we’ll get through to him, when it’s the right time. thanks for your kind words.

Uefa will retrospectively study 900 doping samples given since 2008 as it attempts to combat use of performance-enhancing drugs in European football.

Though it will not lead to future punishments, the governing body intends to identify the scale of steroid use.

Uefa will also carry out blood testing in more competitions from 2013-14, and consider using biological passports.

A proposal for 10-match European bans for players and officials found guilty of racism has also been ratified.

Again talking to myself……..what I said was, Carolyn, I do sincerely apologize to you for my rant b/c many people from Oklahoma are good and kind people……..but……..if what I just heard was true, that it is unsure if PBO will attend the memorial at a Baptist Church on Sunday but will tour damage, I am beyond in a rage……..we all know PBO WOULD attend if he was not rejected…….I can’t remember who said it but I know it was MSNBC and I “think” it was Thomas Roberts…….Coburn has been all over tv saying that Oklahoma takes care of Oklahoma…..fine……pull Fema out of there and save the money for another state that wants it…..don’t use MY tax $$s if you reject Fed. help b/c the President is black….

      May 23, 2013 at 12:57 pm

Since I heard he would be touring the damage on Sunday and heard nothing about attending a memorial, as is usual in these tragic circumstances, I was wondering if they were finding a way to make PBO unwelcome at their service.

I get rightly going after their lousy reps and senators but think it’s not a true statement to say that POTUS is or will be rejected by the citizens in Oklahoma. Just 7 months ago over 440,000 Oklahomans voted for him; and these are people who still chose him knowing in advance that their vote wouldn’t make a difference in the electoral count as Romney was a sure win.

The IRS Scandal Isn’t About Taxes—It’s About Disclosure

Tea party groups could have registered as nonprofit 527 political committees, but they didn’t. How the GOP love of secret donations has fueled the growth of 501(c)(4)s.

    By NORM ORNSTEIN

    —————————————————

First, let me be clear: There has been political intimidation of the Internal Revenue Service and other government agencies for partisan purposes.
    .
    .
The IRS commissioner quickly received a letter from six Republican senators, four of them on the Finance Committee that oversees the IRS, slamming the inquiry and demanding a slew of intrusive information, including the names of any officials who had been involved and “any correspondence (including phone logs, e-mails, written notes, or electronic documents)” between IRS employees and anyone else outside the agency.

These senators have enormous power over the IRS, and the implication of the letter was clear: Go any further on this, and there will be hell to pay. Not surprisingly, the IRS backed off and didn’t do anything more here, much less anything to investigate further the status of Crossroads GPS or the other sham political organizations masquerading as social-welfare organizations.

howdy all you O’s!!!!! It’s a great getting up day again round the ol’ TOD campfire. Speaking of campfires. It is cold and windy outside and I had to rush to bring in all those houseplants that I finally drug outdoors. Of course this would happen, I also managed to finally pack the winter clothes away and get all the summer clothes out and in their proper places. Now I have to go find the winter stuff and sort through them so to have something to wear. Egads, I tell ya!!!

SHRINK IT DOWN TO THE SIZE WHERE WE CAN DROWN IT IN THE BATHTUB ……..

The conservative plan to starve government has paid off with the IRS scandal

    BY NOAM SCHEIBER

    ———————————————–

As The New York Times reported this past weekend, the IRS division that oversees tax-exempt groups was chronically understaffed and overwhelmed even before a surge in applications from political groups in 2010. Once the dodgy applications started piling up (dodgy because political groups that don’t reveal their donors aren’t supposed to get tax exemptions), it’s not surprising that the IRS cut corners, adopting search terms like “patriot” to help flag the conservative groups who were largely behind the increase. This was insensitive and inexcusable—a real crime against political correctness. But it was the kind of mistake people make when they’re overworked, not on a witch hunt.
    .
    .
And yet, when you take a step back from the IRS scandal, there does appear to be something slightly sinister going on. Except that the scheming is on the right and not the left. Since the Republican House takeover in 2010, conservatives have laid the groundwork for a cynical two-step: First, squeeze funding for government programs, making it harder for civil servants to do their jobs. Then, when the inevitable screw-up comes, use it as further justification for cuts. Against this backdrop, the IRS scandal looks like only the latest step in the conservative long-game.

    NOTE:

    Grover Norquist

Norquist favors dramatically reducing the size of the government.[12] He has been noted for his widely quoted quip: “I’m not in favor of abolishing the government. I just want to shrink it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub.”[50]
