Joy Reid, like President Obama, is so civil, astute, and sophisticated. This makes her so compelling. If it were me I would have simply asked Jonathan Karl these questions: Do you now realize that your source was feeding you false information? if you do, why are you not divulging the source of the false information you based your report on? Or did you deliberately agree to publish false information in order to bring down the President?

Even sitting in the rain, these young men and their families must have felt truly blessed to hear this speech live. I’ll bet every one of them knew they were taking part in something historic and the electricity in the air must have been crackling. I’ve only ever seen the president speaking live once–before the PA primary in 2008– but I’ve never in my life seen anyone light up a room like he does. Electrifying doesn’t even begin to cover it. I was thinking today about PBO’s father and how he wanted to become a transformational leader in his own country. What would he think of his son, internationally acclaimed and loved, one of the greatest presidents of the US (elected twice), Nobel prize winner, etc. Obama Sr. missed out on the most important contribution he could have made to this world–helping to rear and emotionally support his son. He had the good sense to marry a brilliant and compassionate woman, but he’s otherwise a sad and tragic figure.

      Just beautifully written Jackie!!

    • May 19, 2013 at 5:38 pm

That is part of what makes PBO’s journey so incredibly interesting and in many ways, unlikely. The absence of a parent changes you forever. You always feel a part of your life is missing. POTUS has overcome emotional barriers to lead a full and astonishing life.

ABC and Jon Karl are really feeling the heat. People are rightfully pissed. They LIED. Jon Karl said “I obtained emails” and that they’d been “reviewed by ABC News.” They LIED about Benghazi and Pres. Obama. Don’t let up. Call, email, and tweet @ABC. Jon Karl’s boss is @BenSherwoodABC. Let him know that his silence means he condones this behavior.

Jonathan Karl think people are stupid, he think people will forget the part he play in this lying, but we won’t. I think he knew the story he was telling was lies, because he was working hand and hand with the Republicans.

I know this has absolutely nothing to do with anything but I was watching Ed Schultz(between thunderstorms)(giving him 3rd chance) and either Ed Schultz, Joy Reid, and Martin Bashir are really tiny, tiny people or Joan Walsh is a giant sitting on a box…..I don’t normally say anything about people’s physical selves but it just floored me….she has got to be way over 6 ft. tall….

Watched the President’s moving and powerful speech. He is never just pro forma in these speeches. I could feel his heart, and I cried. Thank goodness we have him now.

Right now I’m sitting on my couch watching tornadoes on TV…..yes, it’s May in Oklahoma, tornado season. The tornadoes are all north and east of us, but new ones could form south and west of us, which could put us in the path of one. So far our town is okay. This is what Oklahomans do for fun in May…watch tornadoes on TV…….

The next Nontroversey is they’re tying Obamacare and the epa to the IRS flap!
They plan on running on it in 2014.
This should energize us, unless some emo progs stay home bc they think the repeal will mean Medicare for all ?

    • 51 carolyn
      May 19, 2013 at 6:10 pm

I believe we are going to be very energized. We certainly do NOT want a repeat of 2010.
However, that plan sounds a bit complex to get across. And…..how well have any of their plans worked out since 2011 in trying to destroy President Obama. They try truly stupid things, and even Mitch Turtle had to admit today on MTP that there was no evidence to support a cover-up on Benghazi, or any other scandal.
They can’t decide now what they’ll run on in 2014. Too many things will change in the next 14 months. It will be a different world a year from now. Different problems, different made up Rethuglican talking points…..

    • 52 pkayden
      May 19, 2013 at 7:50 pm

I’m sure there are a million and one things they’re planning to run on. Doesn’t matter. We need to get out our side of the vote — just like African Americans voted in a larger percentage than White voters in 2012. We cannot afford to sit out 2014!

This is the officer who was gravely wounded in the shootout with Boston bombers. This is the first time I’ve heard he may have been hit by friendly fire. He is the one who received 45 minutes of CPR after he arrived with no pulse, no heartbeat, brought him back from the dead. My daughter is a bsns. acquaintance of his wife. They have the cutest little 7 mo. old baby. He seems like a great guy—-wish him the best as he continues in therapy and on the healing road back.

    • May 19, 2013 at 6:35 pm

Please ask your daughter to extend our thanks for his service (and his families!!) and best wishes for a full recovery, dotster. They should know that countless people are very concerned and grateful. Thank you.

Just finished watching the commencement speech that’s posted here. It still moved me. However, I noticed that this version does not show the two graduates when POTUS is telling their stories. The visual is very powerful, seeing their faces and then to see those around them clapping them on the back with encouragement and Morehouse Pride.

Smartypants is absolutely right! Jon Karl used quotation marks to claim that he was basing his report on the actual WH e-mails. That’s not a mistake! That’s a deliberate lie! Jon Karl was gambling on the expectation that the real e-mails would not be released. I also think that he didn’t expect his fellow media people, who hate President Obama as much as he does, would question his story.

    “Jon Karl makes things worse”

“He regrets “inaccurate” Benghazi email but says his story based on it “still entirely stands.” Really. ABC News?”

    By Joan Walsh

CNN’s Howard Kurtz, who knows a little bit about being in the line of media fire for his own work, offered ABC News’s embattled Jon Karl the chance to defend himself on Reliable Sources Sunday. Karl, of course, is in hot water because his “scoop” revealing that the White House
tampered with Benghazi talking points relied on doctored email leaked by House Republican sources. That’s not my charge, by the way: CBS’s Major Garrett reported Friday that House GOP staffers peddled the doctored email to him and other reporters.
Karl didn’t appear on CNN, but he gave Kurtz a statement which is brazen and baffling.

Clearly, I regret the email was quoted incorrectly and I regret that it’s become a distraction from the story, which still entirely stands. I should have been clearer about the attribution. We updated our story immediately.

    ***snip

First of all, why was Karl providing a statement to CNN, but saying nothing on ABC’s “This Week,” which featured him and his “scoop” prominently last Sunday? That’s just very weird. *** snip

    Much More..

      May 19, 2013 at 8:40 pm

I am so glad Joy Reid twitted this because I’ve been harping on it. In that situation, CBS ended up firing Dan Rather, a highly reputable news anchor who had worked for the network for four decades. Again, If I remember correctly, CBS hired G.H.W. Bush former AG, I think his name was Richard Thornburgh (sp), to investigate how CBS relied on false documents in a story they did about G.W. Bush’s national guards records. Lets be honest, if Jon Karl was a confirmed liberal, and published an article attacking a Republican president based on false information, he would be gone by now.

I really like @JamesFallow, a fellow California native.

He’s the polar opposite of Chris Matthews and they were both part of Jimmy Carter’s speechwriting team (with Henrik Hertzberg).

So this week will the loathsome MSM continue to shout “3-headed scandal?” Or wll they some to their senses and realize that elections DO have consequences and Americans are either ignoring or recoiling from the MSM nonsense.
