LIVERMORE, Calif. — The makers of “Star Trek: Into Darkness” went boldly where few have gone before when they visited Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s National Ignition Facility (NIF), the world’s largest and most energetic laser system. With the approval of the Department of Energy, this unique facility was utilized for the first time as a film set.

I’m loving these musical evenings. Is anyone else fond of Vampire Weekend or OK Go (who played at the President’s 50th birthday party in Chicago)?

Try BBC, Aljazeea English, France World and, of course, Whitehouse.gov. Come to TOD to get a broad perspective of what’s going on. Click on Chip’s Blogroll and you get links to other good sites. HP is unbearable–haven’t gone there in years.

Laughing at AP headline which, more or less, says ‘Sigh! We gave it our best shot, but it looks like Obama is going to weather the storm’.

Jon Karl who lied about obtaining emails from the white house and wrote the disgusting Benghazi article on ABC didn’t like the fact that he was getting push back from people who rightfully called him and ABC out for printing lies and not having the decency to apologize or at least correct their mistakes. So he got this twitter handle suspended. The twitter handle is now off suspension. The media likes to accuse Pres. Obama of Nixonian behavior. This is a perfect example of Nixonian behavior.

seriously UT with everyone who was mashing up Jon Karl last night he went after this account? What did Jon do, go after all who sent him virtual head slaps? what a loser

Howdy, Amk! You know what’s interesting – I go to comment on this tweet and find that I’m blocked by the Scott Finley and I haven’t a clue why. It’s the same way I discovered I’m blocked by LOLGOP and Newsweek (? or one of those news outlet that I don’t even follow).

There’s something strange going on. zizi2’s twitter had me blocked yesterday (and I heard it had happened to others as well). zizi thought it was something he/she did and was able to unblock me, but now I’m getting suspicious that something else is happening.

UT and Nena…enjoyed the music in the Night Owl Chat II. Thanks

Blog tyrants, I have an idea for a future Night Owl Music Chat…

There are a number of music/movie buffs on this blog. There are many movie theme songs, songs created for movies, songs made popular in movies, etc. I thought a good Night Owl movie chat might be one with some favorite songs from movies. I’m sure a lot of you have some favorites from movie classics to more recent movies.

Some songs that come to mind are
    • “Lara’s Theme” from Dr. Zhivago
    • “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s
    • “In the Arms of the Angel” from City of Angels
    • “ St. Elmo’s Fire Love Theme” from St. Elmo’s Fire
    • “The Glory of Love” from The Karate Kid
    • “Up Where We Belong” from An Officer and A Gentleman
    • “Evergreen” from A Star is Born
    • “Aquarius” from Hair
    • “What A Feeling” from Flashdance

    • 54 jacquelineoboomer
      May 18, 2013 at 11:09 am

      Great idea!

      • May 18, 2013 at 11:13 am

🙂 Hopefully the blog tyrants will think so as well. Would love to see the movie songs that other TODers like.

That could be today’s project, if you keep it going! When I wake up, I’ll try to think of others. (Breakfast at Tiffany’s changed my life, among other movies – Ha!)

Morning, Ms Chipsticks. I’m signing on to say that I’m quitting this online business as I’ve just discovered that there’s no privacy at all, at all!

      • 59 vcprezofan2
        May 18, 2013 at 9:36 am

Just had a 45 minutes+ conversation with my BFF from high school with whom I haven’t spoken in over NINE years! She found my phone number, my address, as well as my gmail address, etc, etc, online! 😯 I am SHOCKED I tell you! In her case I don’t mind, but what’s the point of having an online name etc. and blog address if the technology just connects them all together? Jeez louise!
        .
        .
O well, since the dots have all been connected, (and since I can’t survive without the TOD village) I suppose I might as well grin and bear this revelation of my privacy.

Morning! Just waiting for “ish” to get here 🙂

    • May 18, 2013 at 9:44 am

“ish” makes time a moving target. It means you’re never late. 😀

My daughter would so agree with your timeframe

      • 65 57andfemale
        May 18, 2013 at 12:43 pm

My husband is a restorer of fine antique clocks, and he doesn’t know what five minutes is. As in “Ill be done in five minutes.” “Wait in the car. The service call will only take five minutes.”

For someone whose business it is to respect time, he is incapable of it.

        • May 18, 2013 at 12:50 pm

          😀

My grandfather used to say “I’ll be there ‘directly’.” Directly is so akin to “ish” in that you never knew how long “directly” meant.

    • 67 vcprezofan2
      May 18, 2013 at 9:58 am

Morning, Df! Now if this ‘ish’ could only be long enough for me to go cut the grass front and back, that would mean I wouldn’t fall too far behind too. I’m waiting to start so as not to disturb the neighbours who are doing the Saturday morning sleep-in. 😉 Or so I tell myself.

Aarghhh it still pisses me off how the Dixie Chicks and any other person who opposed Bush’s illegal war was considered not a patriot. Anyway…here’s the press – one of the good guys in fact –who stood by and didn’t say a thing about the Patriot Act (which most of it includes invasion of privacy on us citizens) be passed all the sudden terming any enforcement of it as “government seizure”.
