I’m sitting here looking at this photo with a big old smile on my face. Thanks for that.

It’s funny because Chuck Todd told me that I would never be first on TOD.

“Are you sure Chuck?” says I.

“As sure as I am that Mitt Romney is going to win in a landslide”, says he.

From that point on I knew it was only a matter of time.

Thought I would tag on here that I heard a sound bite of Michelle Bachman saying the reason they need to repeal Obamacare is if these medical records get computerized insurance companies can then refuse people care……..
She totally skipped that ACA does not allow insurance companies to turn people down due to preconditions. I always wonder if she can be that dumb with advanced degrees or if she just knows her constituents are that dumb?

Here’s an idea for the whiners, Japa. Check the weather report in the morning. If rain seems likely, bring rain gear like a rain coat, hat or small umbrella. Instead they show up unprepared, expecting Daddy to take care of their needs and then complain when he tells
      them to grow up.

Seriously, I am a real bleeding heart liberal. I believe deeply in First Amendment rights. But as we’ve been preaching about the 2nd Amendment, rights inherently come with responsibilities.

We would have lost WW II if these poor excuses for journalists had been around in 1942. You don’t out a CIA operative and dismantle a critical undercover placement. That was destructive enough, but the implications and difficulties in getting this kind of access again has been destroyed by AP. Just to get a scoop, with no ethics or heart or compassion or patriotism. And I say this as a LIBERAL.

I’m sick of hearing that we should know everything, all the time and unless we do, our government is corrupt. There is a big difference between outing Valerie Plame for political gain and the Bush administration doing everything it could to shield those political traitors – and the Obama administration, trying to protect sensitive undercover assets that are necessary to the security of the U.S. and the world.

The real traitors here are the whiners at AP. They can’t tell the difference between something that the public needs to know and what puts the public in jeopardy. They should feel the deepest shame, and instead they whine and then crow that they’ve awakened the sleeping MSM to unleash their bile on this President.

        May 16, 2013 at 3:44 pm

Agree, 57–we would have lost the war with the kind of media we have today. They put their own petty grievances and advancements above the safety of the country and will compromise anyone’s life if they can appear to be big shots who scooped the WH. In another time, when people put the welfare of the country first, these AP scumbags would be vilified by every thinking American. Today they generate conspiracy mongers who hate the president so much they have to assign the worst motives to him no matter how fantastic. I have NO respect for these people –none. I, too, am a liberal, but to me they are no better than traitors.

Thanks for the link. I wish people who have no actual knowledge of what is happening or actual understanding of how intelligence agencies across the globe work would stop trying to pretend they invented the word counter-terrorism. [Bob Cesca on Jonathan Karl. I beg to differ w/ Bob. He’s not a reporter, just a stenographer as are the rest of that bunch.]:

[….] Karl deserved to have a sinking feeling because it was entirely his fault. He’s a reporter who printed bullshit from a likely GOP congressional staffer without verifying his information. That’s reprehensible and if I was his editor, I’d at least demote him for such shoddy reporting — coupled with his repackaging of old news and his misleading description of “warnings.”

[comment by i.a.c. to this post]:

This is a symptom of the media frenzy to be the “first” to break a story that will “rock the political world,” in Karl’s words. Karl embarrassed himself and ABC news by regurgitating anonymous GOP “summaries” while lazily never bothering to verify his information. He brought a lot of this on himself by claiming he actually reviewed emails.

Now the full Benghazi emails have been released, and they’re more benign than even I ever thought they could be. Jonathan Karl embarrassed himself and ABC News by releasing doctored information used to score political points. If he wanted to maintain an iota of integrity and avoid himself further egg on his face, he would out the source that gave him agenda-driven misinformation. But since access is oh-so-important to the very serious journalists, Karl would never want to jeopardize another chance in the future to release anonymous bullshit disguised as reporting.

Pickering still seeks his day on the Hill

    By Steve Benen

Over the weekend, House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said Pickering “refused to come before our committee,” but Issa was lying. Pickering actually asked to appear before the panel, but Republican committee members, including Issa, chose not to extend an invitation.
If there’s a logical explanation for Issa’s position, it’s a well-kept secret. The far-right California Republican loves Benghazi hearings, and invited as many reporters and cameras as the physical space will allow, but when it comes to one of the two people who oversaw an independent investigation of the incident, Issa all of a sudden wants to close the doors and keep the sunshine out.

It’s almost as if Issa knows Pickering’s facts will interfere with his partisan crusade and prefers some kind of … cover-up.

White House trolls Republicans over Obamacare hashtag

House Republicans are preparing for a full floor vote on a repeal of the Affordable Care Act on Thursday. In the meantime, they have started a Twitter campaign in the form of the hashtag #ObamaCareinThreeWords, to get opponents of the law excited about the vote.

It began with tweets by Republicans:

    ‘It’s. The. Law.’

    By Steve Benen

Rep. John Fleming (R-La.), for example, said the White House tweet is evidence of a larger “intimidation” strategy. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) went further, calling the tweet proof of the “arrogance of power.”

I haven’t the foggiest idea what these people are talking about. It’s “intimidating” and “arrogant” to describe federal law as federal law?

Suffice it to say, as I’m sure others already have, but people I hold near and dear to me DIED and way more than the 4 people in Benghazi (may they RIP), unless I missed it, non of those Tea Party groups lives and homes and family property was washed away and made to wait years (and some are still waiting BTW) for Bush’s FEMA org to get it’s freakin’ act together. And unless Imissed it, the AP/Press didn’t have people who were supposed to be protecting the citizenry of NOLA, but instead were shooting down people like dogs, as they were leaving the grocery store in their neighborhood.

Pick a narrative and go with it
    By Steve Benen

“Regular readers may recall that I’ve long been fascinated by the trouble President Obama’s detractors have had with understanding what it is about him they dislike. The result is a series of rhetorical attacks that are incoherent and contradictory.

He’s a ruthless Chicago thug and a “wuss.” He’s a bystander who goes golfing too much and an activist president who engages too much. He’s sticking to the Bush/Cheney script on national security and he’s putting us at risk by abandoning the Bush/Cheney national security agenda. He’s cutting cherished entitlement programs like Medicare and he refuses to cut entitlement programs like Medicare. He’s waging a class war against the rich and he’s coddling millionaires.

This week, as much of the political world tries to stick to the dubious line that the White House is engulfed in scandals, we’re seeing the same phenomenon once more”

Had Martin on when CM came on and I waited before turning him off to see him question Jay Carney outside the WH. He kept implying PBO needed to be better informed about the investigations and referred to Jon Stewart’s recent complaints as proof of changes needed. Jay patiently explained why PBO should not be involved with these privately conducted investigations. Chris was having no part of it even talking to Michael Steele about Jay’s reply. Tweety, Nia Malika and Chris Clizza think the Republicans will latch on to the only issue they think has “legs “….THE IRS SCANDAL!!!!!!!!!!!

    The Reason…..

Because all Americans hate the IRS and if ” Those People ” don’t lose their jobs….the IRS can never be trusted ….ever…..because………” Those People” look at Americans tax returns………….oh My.

    Now…here is my take.

Why would Americans think that the employees who review applications for tax exempt status ( a full time job ) also process individual citizens tax returns ? That is an entirely different area of the Agency…
