These slightly overlapping press briefings are going to be one for the books. Sending Carney and Holder good thoughts so they can stand strong in the face of ridiculous BS.

Anyone on the right and left calling for AG Holder to be fired or resign is a bloody fool. This man made sure champions of voter suppression did not get their way in 2012. This man protected every American’s right to vote regardless of race and political affiliation. This man has made sure every American’s civil rights regardless of age, race, socioeconomic strata, and political affiliation has been protected since the day he took the oath of office.

Shame on the cowardly left for joining with republican voices in calling for him to be fired. The left is its own worst enemy in the way they cowardly stab a person in the back who has stood up for them and citizens of this country.

Some in the left had better be careful with their witch hunt before they do irreparable damage to 2016 voters they are desperate to court.

Sadly, the professional left couldn’t care less about the voting rights of the poor or minorities (especially when those votes went overwhelmingly for PBO). They want TV air time. THey want to please the corporations that sign their checks. And most of all they want to take PBO down a notch. Their hatred of AG Holder only solidifies my impression that there is a strong racial element to their inability to ever have this president’s back. Something about PBO and AG Holder seems to rub these people the wrong way.

      I kind of doubt that.

However, Holder is having this presser with Kathleen Sebelius, the HHS secretary on medicare fraud…..but no doubt the questions on the AP would come up. I doubt that AG Holder would say much on that since it is still an ongoing investigation.

divide and conquer. scott walker in wisconsin admitted it on camera, and that’s about the only trick they have left to try. this drum-up on non-issues around the obama administration is an act of desperation, and i say “act of terrorism” and terrorism, and thereby treason, and the part of all republicans and “the news.” these people are traitors to the constitution, and that’s not an exaggeration. just look what they say when talking about gun “rights.” treason through and through.

Looking a bit deeper into the DOJ/AP story

    By Smartypants

    —————————–

If you want a pretty good run-down on the whole AP phone records situation, please read the NYT story by Charlie Savage and Leslie Kaufman and the Think Progress story by Hayes Brown. Here’s what caught my eye from the latter.

…by reporting the CIA’s involvement in foiling the plot, they put AQAP on notice that the CIA had a window into their activities. The AP’s reporting also led to other stories involving an operative in place within AQAP, and details of the operations he was involved in. That operative, it was feared, would be exposed and targeted by AQAP as retribution for siding with the United States.

What Brown is suggesting is that AP’s leak exposed the identity of a CIA operative. Think about that for a moment…it comes awfully close to a government source leaking the identity of Valerie Plame as a CIA agent. Any of you remember the months liberals spent demanding accountability for the person in the Bush administration responsible for that one? No one called that leaker a “whistleblower” because they weren’t – just as this one isn’t.

Boxer tells GOP to ‘look in the mirror’ on who’s to blame for Benghazi
    By Ramsey Cox
Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) said House Republicans needed to “look in the mirror” on who is to blame for the “Benghazi scandal.”
“Start by looking in the mirror,” Boxer said on the Senate floor Tuesday. “Admit that you cut too much from embassy security.”

GOP DIPLOMATIC SECURITY CUTS SLIPPED DOWN THE MEMORY HOLE.

‘Start by looking in the mirror’

      By Steve Benen

      ———————————

I’ve never understood why this doesn’t come up more. Republicans certainly see the attack in Benghazi through a lens that filters out all kinds of relevant facts, but if we made a list of all the things both sides agree on when it comes to the incident, near the top would be the consensus about inadequate security at the consulate.

And that necessarily means there should be some kind of conversation about congressional Republicans and their responsibility.

After all, the facts are unavoidable.

Dana Milbank wrote about this way back in October, though the basic issue — inadequate diplomatic security is the direct result of Republican budget cuts — seems to have slipped down the memory hole.

Whoever provided those quotes and paraphrases did so inaccurately, seemingly inventing the notion that Rhodes wanted the concerns of the State Department specifically addressed. Nuland, particularly, had expressed a desire to remove mentions of specific terrorist groups and CIA warnings about the increasingly dangerous assignment. Rhodes put no emphasis at all in his email on the State Department’s concerns.

Previous reporting also misquoted Rhodes as saying the group would work through the talking points at the deputies meeting on Saturday, September 15, when the talking points to Congress were finalized. While the previously written subject line of the email mentions talking points, Rhodes only addresses misinformation in a general sense.

So whoever leaked the inaccurate information earlier this month did so in a way that made it appear that the White House – specifically Rhodes – was more interested in the State Department’s concerns, and more focused on the talking points, that the email actually stated.

      Wow…..

This smells like Boehner to me.

      • May 14, 2013 at 1:00 pm

Worse offender is Jonathan Karl and ABC……he misreported, and started the whole thing.

…ABC News reported that Rhodes wrote: “We must make sure that the talking points reflect all agency equities, including those of the State Department, and we don’t want to undermine the FBI investigation. We thus will work through the talking points tomorrow morning at the Deputies Committee meeting.” The Weekly Standard reported that Rhodes “responded to the group, explaining that Nuland had raised valid concerns and advising that the issues would be resolved at a meeting of the National Security Council’s Deputies Committee the following morning.”

        • 38 Linda
          May 14, 2013 at 1:01 pm

Who gave Karl the emails ? Boehner had them in March…..

          • May 14, 2013 at 1:06 pm

The GOP leaking the emails is an afterthought, that’s what they do….in every instance. It’s a news organization taking them at face value, and misreporting, that bothers me the most. ABC gave the B.S. talking points story credibility…..now it’s impossible to put the genie back in the bottle.

Growing movie production industry in Georgia too. They just announced a couple of days ago a big deal to expand production capabilities (and add jobs) in Savannah. Atlanta’s already been growing like gangbusters in that area.

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) – President Barack Obama will announce in the next few weeks how many combat troops the United States will leave in Afghanistan in 2014, Secretary of State John Kerry said on Tuesday.

Obama has set next year as the target for withdrawing most troops but the decision is a delicate one as sufficient forces must stay behind to train and support Afghan forces and carry out some operations.

“Very shortly, not too long from now, the president does intend to make public what his plans are for post-2014,” Kerry told reporters.

    My perspective …

If the person who leaked classified info has a phone # associated with them, directly or indirectly, in the AP phone logs, the algorithm for identifying them is ridiculously simple. The type of information that was leaked is classified, moreover it was CIA info, and the access lists and logs are carefully maintained.

Will be interesting to know how much AG Holder reveals about the status of the investigation, like has a US Attorney already empaneled a Grand Jury, etc.

Can’t listen because of conference calls but will be watching for tweets 🙂

Obviously, neither Congress or the MSM have accepted the fact that they are held in incredibly low esteem by the public. When your ratings are around 12%, you should really change your modus operandi, but they are so arrogant they can’t and won’t see it, therefore, can’t and won’t change. I’m sure those that heard or read Scott Pelley’s speech, said “That’s not me” Like Barbara Boxer said to the Republicans today…..LOOK IN THE MIRROR!
After the Marathon week long fest, I wrote Scott Pelley and thanked him for his sensible and calm reporting. I appreciated that he would not try to be first with nonsense. He would say “This is what we know” and recap clearly. No hyperbole, no conjecture, no premature conclusions…..
This rotten press just wants to preen and pose in front of the camera…..I like someone has written today…..believe that 24/7 cable news has been the death of good journalism.

They all suffer from ‘celebrity syndrome’ IMHO. They think they are ‘famous’, they think people admire them, they think they are doing a service.. But they offer nothing, they are made up and fancy in their expensive clothes, as if that makes them important and gives them credibility. It does not. People are tired of all this. People are hungry, scared. They are learning to listen. They are turning to other sources for information. These news people are has-beens, trying to make a buck while they still can. They know their days are numbered. I, for one, hope it’s a small number!

None of these MSM assholes can be trusted. What kind of friend or ally abandons you before taking the time to get all the facts? When the friends or allies in question are so-called journalists, it makes such failures of judgment all the more damning. These folks are getting their marching orders from the same source. MSM journalism, left, right and center, are just different shades of the same shit. Mindlessly following the orders of their corporate masters to gin up some SCANDAL involving the Obama adminstration. The idiocy spewed by the Washington Post “fact checker” this morning is an Onion-worthy example or Orwellian double talk, and evidence of how low the MSM is willing to sink to score cheap political points against PBO. Shuster and Charles Pierce hyperbolic rush to judgment concerning AG Holder are just the latest evidence of the negative bias both PBO and AG Holder face from “friend” and foe alike. “Bias” against someone involves a refusal or inability to give someone the benefit of the doubt. It is impossible to be a friend or ally of someone you are biased against. You will abandon him/her at the first sign of trouble. THis is how the PL treats PBO and AG Holder.

So, can I safely assume that the AP and its brethren in the press are looking a bit like this?

QUICK, someone get to the bottom of this.

Is there ever a bad time to watch FLOTUS dance? I think NOT!

          Hi Dakota!

Oh but thought her birthday was in April — I was trying to released from the hospita then, I think.l. But we can celebrate Miss Ella anyday as far as I’m concerned. 🙂

No wonder the GOP and their Propaganda media are busy manufacturing scandals! They just don’t want to report good news about the Kenyan, Socialist, Nazi, Muslim, Black Panther, whom we elected President.

So here’s the deal AP, and the rest of the pretend to be stoopid media, who know better, but just has a need to be annoying.

There is no law against the AP, any other news agency, or even a crayon wielding little kid, to write and release stuff obtained though nefarious sources. It may even be detrimental to our national security, yet nothing prevents them from going with it. It may not be ethical, but it’s surely legal.

What’s illegal is for someone with national security clearance to leak the information that would jeopardize said national security. So while the MSM is all a twitter trying to make this about them, they should note that PBO and Eric Holder just ain’t that into them as they’d like to think. DOJ is doing their job to pursue a crime that involves our nation’s security, and the rights of governmental employees to perform their duties without some dummy putting their lives in jeopardy for political or monetary gain.

Thank you cookemom. That was clear, concise and absolutely on point and you’re not paid a lot of megabucks to figure out.
