Oh Bachmann, please, please move to Eugene, OR and just try to take DeFazio’s seat!! We WILL pass the marriage equality ballot measure in 2014. The Ducks will poop all over you.

That’s just about the funniest tweet Bill Burton has sent out!

      This quote from Scaredy-Cat Bachmann:

“I have a friend from Eden Prairie who’s already packed everything she owns into her car and is driving out to Montana as we speak. These are very scary times. I don’t want my family to be the last ones out.”

I don’t know if I’ll write about the “scandals”. They really aren’t scandals in any sense of the word, and the mania with which the “press” is pursuing them really doesn’t allow for sober reflection. But having said that, I might have something up tomorrow, especially after reading smartypants’ and Booman’s pieces.

    • May 13, 2013 at 6:40 pm

Thanks LL. I was honestly half tempted to ignore this madness this morning, but I suppose we can’t. It’s sheer and utter insanity.

      • May 13, 2013 at 6:46 pm

And I’m going to say something here: race isn’t the central factor propelling this. Oh, yes, race contributes a large share of the mania, certainly among the mouth-breathing base. But ever since Clinton, what passes for the establishment in the GOP has taken a position that it will never allow Democratic policies to be implemented and start working. That was the motive behind Lewinsky, and it’s the motive now. The economy is starting to recover quite nicely, Obamacare will bring benefits far and wide, more and more people are for marriage equality, and the GOP sees its power slipping away. This is its last gasp to implement its worn playbook. PBO’s race adds to the insanity exponentially, but if Uncle Joe were President with the same set of circumstances, there’d still be a firestorm.

Fuck, I guess that’s what I’ll write about.

        • May 13, 2013 at 7:04 pm

I don’t know if you saw it LL, I posted a toon on Twitter today by that hate-filled piece of shit Michael Ramirez, that brought back all that Clinton-hating-derangement-syndrome – won’t post it here, because it really is the dregs, but this is the link: http://www.cagle.com/2013/05/benghazi-lies/

So it reminded me of what Bill and Hillary endured, all the venom and spite.

But I don’t think there’s any doubt it’s amplified now, 1000 times over, because the President is black, that’s the ultimate symbol for the ole white boys of their power slipping away, he embodies a change in America that makes them foam at the mouth. And they’ve never even tried to hide their innate racism through all this, they’re comfortable with it, and, as I said before, they are emboldened by a completely unquestioning media.

Whether or not race is a “central factor” in the treatment PBO gets from both friend and foe alike is beside the point. The fact alone that race is a factor in PBO’s treatment should be suffiently troubling. IMHO, I think race is why some on the left have made Bill Clinton a saint, while refusing to give credit to PBO for getting rid of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (which Clinton signed into law) or passing healthcare reform (which Clinton failed to do). Race is the reason the GOP’s outrageous behavior and lack of respect for the President is as widely accepted as it is (the need to put PBO “in his place” is what motivates a large swath of the GOP base). Race is the reason there was as much press given to the “birther” nonsense for so many years. Bill Clinton had a tumultuous presidency and was treated unfairly by the GOP/MSM, but I posit that if a white President had enacted healthcare reform, killed Osama Bin Laden and ended the war in Iraq, he would get more respect than PBO does and would have more vocal allies who don’t “run for the hills” at the first sign of difficulty.

Thank you EricFive for saying so well every thing I believe is going on with the way President Obama is being treated by the GOP, the media and the so called left. When Bill Clinton, probably the most conservative Democrat to occupy the Presidency since Woodrow Wilson, was in trouble, Democrats, and especially elected Black Democrats, stepped up and defended him. I’ve yet to see elected Democrats vigorously defending President Obama from all these manufactured scandals.

So true LL – it seems a democrat winning a 2nd term is something the GOP cannot handle without breaking into paranoia and absurd attempts to bring the word “impeach” into the headlines every day. When looking at Pres Clinton & then noting that the GOP elected Mark Sanford – there is nothing in what they do except “make up stuff” about any democrat administration.

President Kennedy didn’t survive for a second term, President Johnson didn’t run & Pres Carter was defeated – even Pres Truman only won one election – and the GOP couldn’t believe that one either.

When race is added – the hatred becomes more vile and personal – it will consume them – the sooner the better.

          May 13, 2013 at 7:27 pm

Not going to argue whether or not race is a primary or secondary factor of the anti-Obama derangement syndrome…but I will say is that PBOs race galvanizes the Radical Right to oppose anything that is PBO…that inherent deep seated racism is used by “the powers that be” to spur on an agenda that is anti worker…anti women….anti union…anti working class…anti etc….

If you are contemplating doing ‘scandal’ LL, maybe you should do a treatise on the REAL WDC scandal. That one can’t be expounded on enough IMO.

TY, LL, but I’m still going to dream that you’ll do another (you must have done one already) treatise on this deliberate weakening of the system by Repubs. If GOPs can go on and on about fabricated stuff, until MSM pick it up, Dems should be able to go on and on about REPUB destructive governing tactics until the MSM is forced to address the issue more seriously. Well, I can dream they will.

Not if the Pulitzer ceremony is before the actual wedding! 😯 We wouldn’t want to diminish the full effect of THE chosen dress before THE DAY.

    Congrats on 1st japa!! When’s the wedding? I see you’re going for a colorful outfit. 😀 😀 😀

NBC going wild on anti-Obama reporting on nightly news—Chuck Todd, Lisa Myers—IRS and Benghazi—-said Repubs were not satisfied with PBO’s remarks—-shocked!— and now the latest outrage—-the Justice Dept. seizing the AP phone records. It was bam, bam, bam—-even mr. dotster had to comment—-it looks like a united effort—-MSM and Repubs. Even aired Issa saying you could fly from D.C. to Libya in 7 hours—–as some sort of convoluted point —-without laughing—-saw that it was more like a 27 hr. flight. But the media will report anything the Repubs say as if it has any relation to truth or reality or reasonable thought.

      • May 13, 2013 at 7:55 pm

May be it’s just me, VC, but I have come to the conclusion that the U.S. media are now a propaganda arm of the Republican party. Right now both the GOP and the U.S. media are determined to destroy the Presidency of Barack Obama. And if, in their quest to destroy President Obama, they end up destroying the United States they really don’t care.

The GOP ran a crash and burn election in 2004 and 2010. But, they needed a demon.
In 2004 it was John Kerry’s Vietnam War record.
In 2010 it was the ACA.
Same politics is being invited for 2014. I mean what are they going for? A veto proof majority?
Lets see if the electorate has grown up some… They do bare a lot of this responsibility, rather than just complaining that this President doesn’t get 100% of what they want.

Why Petraeus Didn’t Like The Benghazi Talking Points

ABC’s Jonathan Karl Won’t Mention His Critique: They Didn’t Do Enough To Connect The Attacks To Egypt Demonstrations

ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl is helping to promote a dishonest narrative regarding why then-CIA director Gen. David Petraeus expressed disapproval for a set of talking points written in response to the September attacks on diplomatic facilities in Benghazi, Libya.

Karl’s reporting on the issue has ignored the central reason Petraeus said that he didn’t like the talking points: he thought they didn’t do enough to connect the attacks to demonstrations in Cairo that were triggered by an anti-Islam video. Since right-wing media and Republicans in Congress have spent months accusing the Obama administration of politically-motivated lying for stating that there was a link between the attacks and the video, this point is crucial.

According to CBS News, in a September 15 email, Petraeus wrote that “he doesn’t like the talking points and he would ‘just assume they not use them… This is not what [Rep.] Ruppersberger asked for. We couldn’t even mention the Cairo warning. But it’s their call.'”

5/13/2013 – KABUL, Afghanistan (AFNS) — Shredded paper, sawdust and water may seem unimportant to many people, but to others it can mean fuel to stay warm or cook food. These are small but vital comforts that members of NATO Air Training Command-Afghanistan try to provide to the people of Afghanistan on a weekly basis.

As part of Operation Outreach, a community service organization, members of NATC-A spend every Friday and Saturday evening turning five parts shredded paper, one part sawdust and 10 parts water into pressed “fuel pucks” or “fuel bricks” that can burn for 20 and 40 minutes respectively.

“Making fuel pucks is the cornerstone of Operation Outreach here in Kabul and has been for the last three years,” said Tech. Sgt. Scott Meadows, a 440th Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron adviser and fuel puck committee lead, deployed from the West Virginia Air National Guard. “Fuel pucks may seem like no big deal to most, but when we deliver these to orphanages or shelters we know we’re making a big difference in people’s lives.”
