Actually yes. Polls show she would be totally trounced by Begich. People up there prefer Congress to her and they hate Congress. And that is why she would not run.

So, I did a bit of research on Al Jazeera America’s launch.

Quite happy that my provider, Dish Network, will carry it once Current switches over.

Time Warner dropped Current when the sale occurred. However, it seems that it’s opening to carrying the channel. It will probably just need enough money.

Still no firm date on when AJA will drop.

How pathetic it is that we have to look to a foreign news organization to maybe save our news media.

Hateful of Kurtz. Didn’t see his original column, but it sure appears from your link that nothing he wrote about was any of his business.

Oh, well, other than Howard’s corporate masters and puppeteers, nobody much is swayed by his thoughts.

i saw the video thing when kurtz trotted out the nonsense, and the funniest part was when he said, “as a journalist, i….” HAHAHA! howard kurtz thinks he’s a “journalist!!!!” his wikipedia page says he gets paid $600K/year now 9yep, free market always makes the cream rise to the top, huh?), and this fine quote:

“KURTZ: I think the argument that I’ve heard Olbermann make in the past about Fox News – it’s not an argument that I embrace – is that, because it poses as a news organization and puts out dangerous misinformation is a cheerleader for the Bush administration, that it’s misinforming our society. But you know what? They’re entitled to do that.”

      journalist?!?! HAHAHA!

FOX is entitled to dangerously misinform our society? Who knew? Thanks, Kurtz.

Actually, the Supremes, in their infinite wisdom, said there is no requirement that Fox be factual when it presents things. Freedom of speech allows lying about news. Which is why Fox cannot broadcast in Canada, where they actually have laws requiring things presented as fact to be factual.

But unfortunately a certain segment of society seems to think that they belong to that party, when it fact that are at best two paychecks from living on the streets.

        May 2, 2013 at 2:38 pm

That’s a big part of what I shall never understand about that segment of society. That and a whole lot of other things, of course!

Looking forward to registering voters on Saturday at a city street fair because I’m eager to see whether the media/GOP onslaught against the president is actually affecting ordinary voters. I suspect not. Except for the few that watch cable pundits or even know of, let alone read, NYT columnists, most people are not paying attention. Even Republicans know that the majority of voters don’t follow nuance, so their targeted audience is not voters in general, but tuned in Dems and Republicans. They want Dems to be discouraged and to douse any hopes of having an impact in 2014. If they can make us feel less enthusiastic about our president, then we won’t pull out all the stops in 2014. And, of course, they are hoping to arouse the Republican base so that they will feel they can make inroads against a so-called “weak” president. They want the Senate badly and they want to get even more gains in the House so that all of us and the president simply give up. Then when the presidential primaries start up they can talk about the “disappointing” Dems who don’t get things done. There is nothing the R’s would like better than 2010 type turnout next year. And the media, like puppy sycophants, do anything their right wing corporate masters tell them.

So our course is clear: 1) Keep talking to people to direct frustration and anger against Republican Congressmen and senators (also reminding them how budgets and legislation works. 2) Keep telling people about the administration’s accomplishments and all the good news about the auto industry, green energy, new growth in housing, lowering the debts, etc. 3) Register, register, register voters. 4) Go to every community event and interact with people, correcting every misunderstanding we hear; 5) Support good Democratic candidates who step forward to run and 6) Make clear to everyone we meet that Democrats are in a fighting mood and they’re not going to sit back and let this country slip away from us.

O/T….A couple of weeks ago LOD did 2 interesting ‘rewrites’ on FRANCES PERKINS, FDR’s Sec. of Labor, who created Social Securty.
If any TODer wishes to find out more about this fascinating woman, there is good book about her that I recommend called ‘The Woman behind the New Deal’ by author, Kirsten Downey. Enjoy!

Conservative groups are vowing to force lawmakers to adopt a balanced budget plan before passing any increase in the nation’s debt ceiling.
The Club for Growth and Heritage Action said that establishing a path to a balanced budget within 10 years will be their demand in the looming fight between congressional Republicans and President Obama.

    Read more: http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/budget/297441-conservative-groups-balanced-budget-is-price-of-debt-ceiling#ixzz2SAB0HpwL

If they are this hell bent on getting a balanced budget, I don’t see how we get around it. They control the funding.
That’s what the people voted for, then don’t complain if it happens.

Jovie, I think they’ll try, knowing it won’t pass the Senate. Then they’ll use it as an incentive for the Republican base to work harder to “get them a Senate they can work with.”

Good! Now CNN needs to drop him like a lead balloon!!!

I was very disappointed to see self-proclaimed O’supporters repeating this same mess. The comments they were making about Jason were very disheartening. Our Chips was fierce on twitter yesterday trying to inform them of the facts but it didn’t seem to matter. Sigh!!!!!!!!

I’ve seen that tragic photo before, but it’s always good to take another hard look and pass it around, so nobody forgets.

The way this image of the runaway slave was printed in newspapers during the Civil War, so that the entire country could realize what was really going on, is akin, in its own way, to how black and white television of the Civil Rights era finally made people all over the country actually see how African-Americans were still being treated in the South.

What’s our excuse today, if we say “we didn’t know” about bigotry in our country and other atrocities around the world?

I thought Sen. Ayotte Coyote had that dead eye deer-in-the-headlights look already, before her most recent town halls (without having the comfort of being in the shadow of McCain-Graham back at the D.C. Ranch), but she’s gonna be positively scary lookin’ after some of these take downs. Even her fellow RWNJ, a NH State Senator, traveled to one of her town halls to join in. The NRA is now “running radio ads in her defense,” after her ratings dropped by 15 percent.
