      Whoa, two-way tie.

      Congrats, @mrm112 and mini bt.

I only caught the end of the presser, but MSNBC was insufferable in the lead up to the conference; Syria, speculation, Syria, more speculation, rinse and repeat.

Oh! My Chipsticks…. Very tired after the weekend of visitors and the ceremony…. Taking an easy day. Checking in with ortho tomorrow and hopefully will be able to walk away WITHOUT crutches….. But don’t dare to expect too much, must see how the healing has progressed. So, tomorrow this time will have a really truly update to share! Thank you for asking, and I do wear a size 6, so when fitting the dresses, please note.

Ok, I answered my own question: if you play the recording in the original article, the one subtitled at the bottom in Chinese, you’ll see that whenever there’s an “inside” joke (or one only Americans would know, like Axe and MSNBC, etc), a yellow Chinese subtitle runs across the top of the screen. That must be the quick explaination for each barb. Clever!

O/T: When you see stories like these, you have to wonder about our prison systems. Criminals running the system — from the judge to the inmates.

“Pennsylvania Judge Sentenced to Prison on Corruption Charges”

For more than a decade, federal prosecutors in Pennsylvania claim that former Judge Mark Ciavarella unjustly sentenced juveniles as young as 10-years-old to hard time as part of a scheme to fatten his bank account. A jury agreed with the prosecution, sentencing the 61-year-old to 28 years in prison – essentially a life sentence – on corruption charges on Thursday.

…the prosecution argued the ex-judge has unjustly sentenced youths to months of hard time for minor crimes that were often far from felonious. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gordon Zubrod reportedly told Kosik that Ciaverella’s refusal to accept responsibility for his actions is what warranted the longer prison sentence. While he presided over juvenile court, Ciavarella reportedly sentenced children to detention facilities for crimes such as stealing a jar of nutmeg and creating a Web site mocking an assistant principal.

“Indictment: Prison gang leader fathered 5 children with 4 guards”

A Baltimore prisoner is said to have fathered five children with four different corrections officers while incarcerated, according to a recently unsealed federal racketeering indictment.

In addition, the Washington Post reports that 13 female corrections officers assisted imprisoned gang members in criminal enterprises including the trafficking of drugs, witness intimidation and money laundering. Guards also tipped off prisoners about upcoming cell searches.

One prison guard was given a diamond ring by a gang leader. Others were provided with cars to drive (including two Mercedes Benzes, a BMW and an Acura). Two of those cars were purchased by a prisoner using proceeds from the illegal enterprise, according to the indictment.

Was Corbett AG of PA when this was being covered up ?

      • April 30, 2013 at 3:53 pm

It appears that these Kids for Cash sentences occurred between 2003 and 2008.

Corbett was elected AG in 2004 and re-elected in 2008.

“Completely Evil ‘Kids for Cash’ Judge Is Going to Jail”

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court had to overturn 4,000 convictions of kids that Ciavarella issued between 2003 and 2008.

Tom Corbett returned as Attorney General on January 18, 2005 taking the oath of office as Pennsylvania’s 5th elected Attorney General.

Corbett was reelected in 2008 and presided over a sweeping series of grand jury investigation involving public corruption, specifically, the use of state resources and staff for personal or political gain.

        • 50 jackiegrumbacher
          April 30, 2013 at 4:18 pm

Yes, Tom Corbett was very busy trying to jail Democrats in the state Senate for doing what he does every day–politicking on the job. So, minor things, like Sandusky and corrupt and evil judges, didn’t get the front burner.

    • 51 jackiegrumbacher
      April 30, 2013 at 4:12 pm

Ciavarella is such a revolting, corrupt creep, Sw, I hope they misplace the key when he’s behind bars, or better yet, throw him in with the gangs. I don’t like to throw the word “evil” around, but I think this monster fits the bill. Totally and completely with conscience.

Bob, they also provide all of us with justification to ignore them. When they behave like little ill-informed partisans, they reveal how dysfunctional and useless our media really is. It is impossible to feel any respect for them or accord them even the slightest credibility. Unfortunately, just by calling themselves “press” they tarnish everyone in the business who tries to do an honest job. I’ve talked to some of the earnest young men and women who are graduating in journalism at our local college and I feel such pity for them for choosing such a losing and tarnished profession. Maybe they can restore the integrity some day. I hope so, but it may be too late.

Those who tweet……Chuck Todd was very dismissive of the PPP polls and mocked them as push polls today on air. PPP has been more accurate in 2012 that NBC/WJS polls.

Now……Jeff Flake has acknowledged the accuracy of his own tanking poll numbers. Chuck Todd was speculating wildly that these senators must have private poll numbers that said otherwise. Todd pulled that malarky from his butt obviously.

          • April 30, 2013 at 3:39 pm

About 20 of them are being force fed. The others are still on strike. BBC radio had a story on it last night. The military says 100 are participating; lawyers and doctors say closer to 130 are on strike. Gitmo has about 160 prisoners left.

It’s horrible, all around. Believe it’s been since February, too. Make it go away. It would have been long gone, if Rs in Congress hadn’t lost their damn minds because of their dead souls.

              • April 30, 2013 at 3:57 pm

In this case, we have lillylivered dems to blame as well. PBO tried to close Gitmo when Dems controlled the House as well as the Senate, and they balked.

What’s really tragic is that about half of the detainees have been cleared, but no country wants to take them. Because, let’s be honest, they’re probably radicalized now.

Woman Kills Husband During Drunk Gun Lesson.

“I shot him,” Michele Wanko, 42, told a Parkside Police officer when authorities arrived at the house around 4:00 a.m., the Delco Times reports. Authorities found Wanko’s husband, 43-year-old Michael, lying near the entrance with a gunshot wound to the upper chest.

The couple had spent the night sipping vodka and lemonade when Michele asked for a gun lesson so she could protect herself, according to CBS. They went down to the basement where Michael stored his guns in a safe as their sons, 2 and 5, slept upstairs.

“He took several of the weapons out, handguns and was demonstrating to her how the weapon worked as far as taking the magazine out, making sure it was safe, and how to pull the slide back,” said Parkside Police Chief John Egan, according to NBC Philadelphia.

Michele picked up a gun but when she pulled the slide back, as she was taught, the weapon went off, striking her husband. Michael was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

“Why, after six-and-a-half hours of drinking, would you go down and handle a gun, especially with someone who never shot a weapon before?” Egan said, according to Philly.com. “The real big common denominator is the alcohol and it ended up costing him his life.”

Michele was charged with involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault and possessing an instrument of crime. The children are staying with relatives.

Daughter Of Newtown Victim Confronts Ayotte Over Gun Check Vote

The daughter of Sandy Hook Elementary School principal and shooting victim Dawn Hochsprung confronted Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) over her vote against expanding gun background checks at a town hall in Warren, N.H. on Tuesday.

“You had mentioned that day you voted, owners of gun stores that the expanded background checks would harm,” Erica Lafferty said, according to NBC News. “I am just wondering why the burden of my mother being gunned down in the halls of her elementary school isn’t more important than that.”

Well it finally happened. Dropped my iPhone on the floor & cracked the face! It’s pretty bad. Feel like I’m going to cut myself if I just pan up. Unfortunately I don’t can’t upgrade. I currently have AT&T. I’m looking to change. I don’t want T-Mobile or Verizon, so I’m looking towards Sprint or last resort Virgin. I’ve always had the IPhone since it first came out, but now I’m looking for something new.

I have an iPhone; I also now have an iPad. I confess. I think there is nothing better, or more user friendly than the iPhone. I also have AT&T, and I do have issues with them, but we have not made a decision to change. You can now get an iPhone with other carriers apparently. My hubby (on AT&T) still, gave his iPhone to his brother and got a Samsung because he has a couple of Samsung tv’s and love them. I have to answer his phone daily at our office. I am not impressed. It is a pretty phone. It is not user friendly as far as I am concerned. Apple to me has the market on user-friendly; I call them the Fisher-Price of phones, computers, etc. This is my personal opinion.
