Why is Chris Matthews on live at this time of day. Also who was that reporter he was just talking to that didn’t get the memo that the debt ceiling may not be reached until early September ?

  3. April 30, 2013 at 10:43 am

    Should be interesting.

  4. April 30, 2013 at 10:43 am

Pundits are speculating about anything they think the President might talk about in hopes that one of their assumptions is correct.

As for the little Ms. Welker, I pray that she will leave that post. She does not do POB and his Administration any goodness. I do not like her approach to this Administration. HZ

“Now, for the first hundred days, Richard wandered in the wilderness of Washington, seeking the signs of the times.

Then the Pharisees came onto him, and certain of the Scribes, and the young men, who studied not-for-War, for they had read the Gospel of John the Leftist.

And the Pharisees asked: What of the Inflation ?

And Richard replied: Let me make myself perfectly clear on that point.

And the Scribes asked: What of integration ?

And Richard replied: Let me say this, and let us make no mistake about it.

And the young men asked: When shall we have peace ?

And Richard summoned his silent majority, saying “Gird up thy lines and battle with all thy strength, lest the Democrats return again!”

      – The Begatting of a President.

Let Ed Henry go to war first, and his wife next. Leave his children with his parents, along with all the members of the WHPC and let them fight on the front lines. Let the GOP congressmen and women who love war, be on that plane with the WHPC too, ready to fight that war they are so keen on. I bet the conversation about the war would stop immediately. #cowards

Yup….and so it happens. Every time PBO makes an appearance, we see another one who expose their dirty, racist slip.

        • 87 japa21
          April 30, 2013 at 11:47 am

And Corn has it wrong, the question was, in actuality, about LGBT issues, not basketball.

          • 88 hopefruit2
            April 30, 2013 at 11:51 am

And the question was an after-thought, not the first or main question. Which makes Corn’s assertion all the more problematic.

        • April 30, 2013 at 11:48 am

I actually took a deep breath for a minute Hopefruit to consider whether it was just a harmless joke, and maybe he intended it that way – but he must know damn well it’s just the kind of thing Drudge or any RWNJ would say. At the very best it was thoughtless and moronic. At worst, well.

          • April 30, 2013 at 12:00 pm

This is just another example of the careless, thoughtless racism that permeates the WHPC. It never occurred to Corn that he was being racist. And he’s be indignant if it were pointed out to him. Racist?? Not me. Ask my Black friend.

            • April 30, 2013 at 12:02 pm

Exactly VSW, and he thinks because he’s a ‘progressive’ – and has black friends! – he couldn’t possibly be racist. Give me strength.

            • 92 hopefruit2
              April 30, 2013 at 12:24 pm

“It never occurred to Corn that he was being racist.”

I’m not so sure about that.

If a FOX news reporter or someone like Rush Limbaugh had said the same thing – people like David Corn and Tweety Matthews would be among the first to call them racist for saying that. A man of David Corn’s age, and experience, who has been in the field of journalism and reporting for decades cannot hide behind that excuse that he”didn’t know he was being racist.” David Corn has developed a bit of an obnoxious ego since he came out with that 47% tape, which he mistakenly assumes got PBO re-elected. That’s part of where the superiority complex is coming from.

    • 93 Nena20409
      April 30, 2013 at 11:51 am

I have always said…..Gwen Iffil was asked of her bias moderating a VP debate in 2008. 98% who cover this president has issues. David Corn……is Not immune to this form of subconscious bigotry………and he is as a left as a leftie can be.

  45. April 30, 2013 at 11:40 am

It is strange that the WHPC complain that they don’t have enough access to the President, yet when they do there are no substantitive questions being asked. These people are just clueless what a waste of time.

    • 95 Nena20409
      April 30, 2013 at 11:46 am

Self absorbed people in the DC/NY punditry live in the same zip code. They party together. Their kids play with each other and they see ONLY one way to cover THIS president…….as their Opposition. That is why, their emotional stagnation retards them from thinking outside the box. They Undermine, underestimate and they ASSume that this POTUS would be as Needy as those who came before him. Since 98% of those who cover this president are Like clones of each other……..the surprise element went out for me in 2008.

    • 97 sabreen60
      April 30, 2013 at 11:59 am

Oh, didn’t you hear the whining. They didn’t have ENOUGH time to prepare. The mighty WHPC is so far removed from current events, they can’t come up with questions unless they have a week to do it. An hour and half is just not enough time for any of them to think of ONE relevant question. They are as pathetic as the pundits on TV and they are SUPPOSE to be the REAL journalists.

      • 98 Nena20409
        April 30, 2013 at 12:13 pm

  49. 103 japa21
    April 30, 2013 at 11:50 am

Well, once again the WHPC provides us with plenty of entertainment, though whether of the comedic or tragic variety is up to question. It is amazing how PBO can take the stupidest question and turn it into something through which he can educate the American public. If the WHPC had asked Bush these questions in the accusatory tone they were asked, they would have been denied access.

  50. 104 Lovepolitics2008
    April 30, 2013 at 11:50 am

Listening to the president is such a pleasure. Common sense, vision, leadership, honesty. To be completely fair though, his answers are sometimes very long and I can understand that the press corps is frustrated that they can’t ask many questions. Sometimes I feel that the president press conferences are not press conferences really, but little sessions of reeducation camp for national pundits ha ha. He just has to give them long answers in hope to “recenter” the national conversation on the right thing.

So, if the press was doing a better job in informing the people and explaining what’s really going on, the President wouldn’t have to take so much time on each subject , and more subjects could be covered during a 45 minutes press conference.

But in the end, the press today will have a lot of material to work with. They may be disappointed because they don’t have anything “spectacular” to report. Well, too bad for them. So let them concentrate on what the President actually explained in detailed fashion. Lots of substance. Viewers, readers need substance. Badly.

Ironic that these people are being paid big money to be on top of everything that is going on in politics and government. Yet they have to scurry to come up with questions when a press conference is announced? What’s the problem? They can’t think for themselves? They have to depend on someone else to tell them what to ask?

    April 30, 2013 at 11:52 am

This began somewhat during Clinton’s administration and his press conferences. No they were not out to disrespect him like I feel these idiots do with our President Obama, but one “reporter” on one side of the room would ask a question about an issue, Clinton would answer, and darn if not two minutes later, another representative of the press would ask the same question, maybe phrased just a little differently. Clinton would repeat his answer and on and on it would go. I would be watching and waiting for an issue I was interested in to be talked about and would get so mad and impatient. Now during the Bush administration, I don’t know, because I never listened to his press conferences. I could not even look at the man, much less listen to him. I know his answers were dumber than their questions, probably.

Ed Henry has No Kids of his own. His wife has children. It is sad that Fox continues to be called on these press conferences. How I have wished that it would have stopped once Clemete and another Fox VP both said respectively that this POTUS was their main opposition in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

Fox is Not a news organization. It should be treated as such.

The WHPC shows disrespect for the President in the way they look at him, their tone, their questions all negative….even not “standing up” when he enters the press room. Is not standing up something new? Last four years maybe? These people are disgusting! The pundits and repubs continue to overreach and the President keeps on working.
