Just heard from Dudette, the poor thing had been in hospital fighting off pneumonia but is back home now. She said she’d try to drop in later to say hello. So relieved to hear from her, but what an ordeal she’s been through.
That is greeat news, though having had pneumonia I have an idea how bad it must have been for her. And mine wasn’t bad enough to have to go to the hospital. Maybe seeing Spock at the WH Correspondent’s dinner will cheer her up.
Thanks for following this up and letting us know. I do not “say” much, but I have long appreciated her music offerings and her humor. She was missed; so glad that she is home and is healing.
I did see her tweet “I’m back” and a couple of songs on Wednesday, so I knew something was up … and that, hopefully, she’d be back here soon! Poor thing – sorry about the pneumonia, Dudette!
Saw “I’m back” too Jacqueline, just thought she might have been taking a break from it all, had no idea she was going through such a horrible time. On the mend, though, Dudette will never be kept down!
That is just great! My Senators are Feinstein and Boxer so no problems there, but the phone is going to ring at some of these other idiots offices. I still get tears looking at those sweet, innocent faces. Reminds me of my grandkids.
Hiya Carol, I’ll take a couple of screenshots of the site and include them in tomorrow’s R&S with a link, it really is striking – thanks again for letting us know about it.
Trying to write, but every time I start, these horrid Congress beasts get me so angry, my hair sets itself on fire, and I have to chill. I get to the point when all I can say is, FUCK!!! There are just no other words.
However, Sorority Girl™ really inspired me this week. 😉
I honestly think that self-imposed exile had a lot to do with not wanting to be loaned out to Everton again, and taking the first real break he’s had in about three years or so.
Whew is right! I’m exhausted just hearing his schedule (and the Biden’s as well). A study should be done one of these days, but somehow we Democrats have a gene (or some scientific term) for caring that the Repubs lack.
Can anyone join this party:)? Just found this blog and recognize a couple of people from Twitter. Help. I need to converse with sane people for a change before I lose my mind. @kfreed2
Welcome kfreed! You will find lots of all kinds of awesome here, though some may not be quite sane. 🙂 I’m usually in lurk mode. Hello everyone. I know it’s just unbelievable how much people (led by our corporate sponsored media) are willing to swallow from the GOP! I took great comfort in the wise words of Don from an earlier thread. Unfortunately I think he’s right, this boat will have to spring a few more leaks before our legislators get the hell serious about the sequester. As my sister says until their constituents start talking, and writing and screaming at them and it could cost them their seat they will stay well heeled to their corporate masters.
I’m sick to hear about this “bipartisan” group by Zuckerberg supporting of all things the Keystone pipeline!
Welcome! I couldn’t have said it any better that ele4obama so eloquently put it. I know the feeling, when I literally stumbled upon this bunch of caring, kind (yet tough when necessary) people I was so relieved to find folks that feel like I do. When I was volunteering at our local Dem Headquarters, people would practically fall through the door just to find some kindred souls. I live in a very conservative part of California. I felt the same way when I found them and ended up volunteering.
There was one elderly gentleman that had marched with MLK to Washington and in Selma. He still calls me; what an honor to even know the man.
Wanna see the “celebs” at the W. lie-bury dealie? There’s a funny one and a couple of interesting ones—–hadn’t seen “Linda Bird and Lucy Bird” (mr. dotster) for a long time. Or Tricia Nixon since her WH wedding—looks the same.
There was something particularly appropriate about Silvio Berlusconi being there. He is of the same stripe, and supported Bush in the Iraq War. Saw that “Bush’s poodle” Tony Blair was there too. What a cast of characters…..shameful, the entire thing.
I was wanting to see Bush get up to the lectern, lean on it like he does, give that terrible “heh heh heh” and say “I LIED” Then disappear into that pyramid he built.
I trust the President but I don’t like this piece by piece bit. We need a budget, PERIOD! I don’t care how uncomfortable and hard it will be for both sides we got to do it!
The rich are getting all these small victories in congress. And now being cornered into a expensive War? These issues are slowly mounting up, only thing stopping the Ruthless Barons from total domination is the guy in the WH.
So I guess old shoot em up McCain want the U.S. to go get Syria, Iran, and stop by and finish Iraq, stay in Afghanistan and who else, Vietnam. War, war, war, with that old fool.
How many different positions did John McCain have during Libyan Crisis or Egyptian Crisis? It is those who pay attention to McCain….that give him his severely crave for attention.
In over 20 yrs has there ever been a war or crisis that McCain’s answer is Not to Bomb that nation….so long as it is in a Muslim nation? Enough.
Only been blogging here for a short while, but notice some tout Randi Rhodes as a good liberal radio source (correct me if wrong). Is she Pro-Obama?
I don’t get her appeal, especially after she helped pushed a conspiracy theory about the Susan Rice witch-hunt, saying that one which some (not all :)) enthusiastic PBO supporters still tout. That is unfair and discouraging IMO. OTOH, Stephanie Miller is more tolerable and “gets” some pols , even if she is criticizing PBO.
Sometimes I wish that PBO would just smack some folks, but he is too classy for that. 🙂
I am home again, after working in Toulouse (at Meteo France) for two weeks – only Suitable For Work websites 🙂
So I watched the President’s address in Waco. Amazing. He had to find (almost feeling his way) how a close -knit community like West, Texas worked (while being a native of Chicago).
I fully recognize that – it took me years to get used to the “issues” my fellow towns people expressed their anger / approval about after I moved from Amsterdam to this town of 5,000 twenty years ago.
The West people must certainly have felt being “stage-up’d” by Big East Coast Boston – and the President surely tried to put it all into perspective (even including flood victims in other states).
This man is much bigger than all of us – I feel so fortunate living through this era without even having lifted a finger to bring it about.
After the 2012 election and seeing all those who stayed in line to vote, even until the wee hours of the morning, the phrase Churchill offered after the Battle of Brittain lingered in my brain: Never (since the 1940s) have so many (the world over) owed so much to so few.
Hi Toon Moene. I like the way you think. I will remember the Churchill phrase now with regards to the election (twice) of our wonderfully human, disciplined and courageous, long term tenacious President. Wow, there are just too many words to describe him that come to mind. Have we ever had such of a hard working, caring and giving President and VP, not to mention their spouses. I guess all modern first ladies have had a platform but I’ve never seen any spend so much time and in such of a variety of ways pushing them. Nancy, just the “just say no” commercials. SLOTUS Tipper Gore spend a little time getting labeling on records. Dr. Jill and FLOTUS have really put military families front and center. First lady Michelle has put eating healthy and growing your own veggies front and center.
Spring colors this year are bright and bold, lots of skinny belts and sleeveless atire – thank you MO. 🙂
W.H. warns against piecemeal sequester fixes
By DONOVAN SLACK | 4/26/13 3:34 PM EDT
President Obama plans to sign legislation eliminating FAA furloughs causing flight delays, but the administration is firmly against piecemeal fixes to other impacts of sequester cuts, press secretary Jay Carney said Friday.
“This is a one-off case, if you will,” he said, adding “the sequester itself cannot be finessed. It is having negative consequences around the country.”
Carney argued the FAA fix, which was passed by Congress Friday, was doable because the funds were available to head off the need for FAA furloughs.
“The fact is it’s a drop in the bucket, it’s a Band-aid over — I think it’s kind of a gross metaphor – but a big wound,” he said. “The fact is this is a small amount of funding compared to the overall sequester. It’s $253 million. There was an ability because of unobligated funds available that could be transferred.”
I now he has to sign this monstrosity, and I hope that this statement is a warning to both the GOP and Dems that he is not going to put up with this. And the other thing is, I wonder what other unobligated funds are out there to ease the pain inflicted by the real important cuts.
Has anybody heard any Dem Sen or Rep explain why they voted for this?
Usually the typical dissenters (Sanders) seemed to have had no problem agreeing to use the funds. It appears that these funds were unobligated but could only be transferred internally – meaning they could not be used for other purposes. So as PBO said, this is not a long term solution but it’s not money taken from other areas of need and given to FAA. And as I said earlier – there were other issues of safety to be taken into account, not just long lines for wealthy travelers.
For anyone who gets overcome with outrage and frustration, try taking a small trip out of town, if you can. Just pull away and drive somewhere. We took a pre-birthday, overnight break to see the Edison museum and even that short time was rejuvenating. Sometimes I feel all my muscles tensing because I’m angry at some Republican and it wakes me up at night. Felt the tension ease away with just a short break. There’s a whole world of hurt out there that we want to fix, but we can usually work on just one little corner of it at a time. PBO understands what needs to be done, and, as an OFA staffer reminded me the other day, he has a lot of help. So take care of yourself because he’s counting on all of us to keep working our corners.
Normally I wouldn’t give a rats ass about the WHCD, a gathering of the biggest jackasses,ie the Media , intent on disgusting self adulation!
But I do like to see my President & gorgeous First Lady! So I’ll be looking forward to the coverage here on TOD. But otherwise, the Media can go screw themselves!
Exactly how I feel about it too Pinkbunny – if I could find a feed that didn’t show the audiences’ faces I’d open a bottle of champagne. I always love the President’s speech, but the sight of those creatures puts a dampener on the night!
Hi Chipsticks! I’m feeling awfully chatty right now, when I should be cooking dinner for myself! I’m disappointed that Conan O is the “comic” relief. I seldom find him funny, plus not looking forward to the ” got to get both sides” routine. Maybe I will check out E for the red carpet.
Dinner can wait, ELO!! Not sure about Conan either, I do like him, but I suspect you’re right, we’ll have a few predictable ‘zingers’ thrown at PBO tomorrow night too. Probably fair enough for the occasion, but if they’re nasty I’ll punch my screen.
I feel like I haven’t posted regularly on this site since the election! I miss you guys! Just finished with school and internship this week so I guess I had good reason ^_^. Next up is commencement… Bill Clinton is our speaker lol.

I don’t post much, but I just had to give you a BIG CONGRATS, collegekay. So proud of you. As for your speaker, sheesh! Won’t that guy just give the public a break already? Much success to you, young lady.
Hello.
Hello speedy!
Congrats, UT!
The video is no bueno Chiparoo.
Yikes, it was removed?! Okay, let me see if there’s a new version up.
I woke up today determined not to let everything happening get to me. I have failed. Not in a chatting mood right now. Maybe later.
Okay, we can’t all be happy every minute of the day. Take as much time as you need, and this too shall pass.
Good afternoon all.
Just heard from Dudette, the poor thing had been in hospital fighting off pneumonia but is back home now. She said she’d try to drop in later to say hello. So relieved to hear from her, but what an ordeal she’s been through.
Oh…that’s good news Chips 🙂 Looking forward to having her back, we missed her for sure!!
Thrilled she’ll be back too Hopefruit, even if she is a geeky nerdy Trekkie type person 😆
“geeky nerdy Trekkie”
Nice description and I LOVE that about her! 🙂
I think the first time I called her that she said something like: “Thank you so much!”
The ultimate compliment to pay Dudette! 😆
That is greeat news, though having had pneumonia I have an idea how bad it must have been for her. And mine wasn’t bad enough to have to go to the hospital. Maybe seeing Spock at the WH Correspondent’s dinner will cheer her up.
You know Japa, I suspect once she heard about Spock being at the WHCD, she checked herself out of hospital for fear she’d miss it.
oh thank you for the update Chips, was just asking about her last night.. thank goodness she is healing.
Such a relief Sherijr, we all missed the crazy gal!
yes it is- a relief, so glad that you were able to hear from her.
If you talk to her again, give her my regards please.
I will of course Yardarm, but she said she’d be back on the blog asap, maybe even tonight. Thanks Yardarm.
Thanks for following this up and letting us know. I do not “say” much, but I have long appreciated her music offerings and her humor. She was missed; so glad that she is home and is healing.
Wonderful news CEB, not least because we’ll have our DJ back soon!
That makes two of us. So glad she’s on the mend.
Congrats utal on first!
This is great!
There is nothing like freshly ground wheat in baked goods!
Has everyone seen this:
http://theydontworkforyou.org/index-alt.html
Wow, impressive site Carol, never saw it before – thank you.
Hard hitting. Sent it to my Senators.
That is just great! My Senators are Feinstein and Boxer so no problems there, but the phone is going to ring at some of these other idiots offices. I still get tears looking at those sweet, innocent faces. Reminds me of my grandkids.
😥
Chips, is there a way for you to format it so it catches everyone’s attention. Choose one set and then the link? Thanks if you can and have time.
Hiya Carol, I’ll take a couple of screenshots of the site and include them in tomorrow’s R&S with a link, it really is striking – thanks again for letting us know about it.
You’re welcome. I was hoping I hadn’t seen it here and reported it. Thanks a bunch.
That’s AWESOME.
It’s Taaaaaaallllllllllly!
GIIIIIRRRRRRRRRLLLLLLLLLLL!
How ya doin’ legend?
So happy tomorrow is CATURDAY!!!
Trying to write, but every time I start, these horrid Congress beasts get me so angry, my hair sets itself on fire, and I have to chill. I get to the point when all I can say is, FUCK!!! There are just no other words.
However, Sorority Girl™ really inspired me this week. 😉
I know Tally, had to stay off Twitter for most of the day, way too depressing. There really are no words for Congress, apart from obscene ones.
Indeed. Congress: They name is WHORE.
x 100,000,000,000
And hoping Robbie steps it up a bit more this season.
Hopefully! Is Landon back (permanently) from finding himself?
Yes!! Thank the Gods! 😀
I honestly think that self-imposed exile had a lot to do with not wanting to be loaned out to Everton again, and taking the first real break he’s had in about three years or so.
Even I would go back-backing to avoid joining Everton – or is that unkind?
HAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Tough.
Amazing site. Everyone should see this. Craven senators showing their pearly teeth, while children are murdered. Very powerful.
I thought so too. Glad people are looking at it.
Phew, West Wing Week’s fixed:
Whew is right! I’m exhausted just hearing his schedule (and the Biden’s as well). A study should be done one of these days, but somehow we Democrats have a gene (or some scientific term) for caring that the Repubs lack.

Welcome kfreed!!!!!!!
aww kfreed.. welcome to the nicest ‘nuthouse’ in the blogosphere 😉
Just followed you on Twitter, kfreed. I’m @JOBoomr – welcome to TOD!

See elo4, I was going to say that, but I decided to behave 😆
Just followed you too on twitter, @mtmarilyn2. This is the best place for some sanity in todays political world.
awesome kfreed follwed yez
Wanna see the “celebs” at the W. lie-bury dealie? There’s a funny one and a couple of interesting ones—–hadn’t seen “Linda Bird and Lucy Bird” (mr. dotster) for a long time. Or Tricia Nixon since her WH wedding—looks the same.
http://galleries.apps.chicagotribune.com/chi-130425-famous-faces-bush-library-pictures/
Thank you Dotster – although I’m almost afraid to click the link, it was the Living Dead in that place yesterday. And Berlusconi to top it all 🙄
Tricia Nixon is very beautiful. It was nice seeing her, she seems like a sweet lady (or I got that impression from her telephone calls to her father).
Well, Jessica, if you discount the fact that Tricia Nixon Cox is very right wing and her husband is more so.

Let Me Wrap My Arms Around 😉
I trust the President but I don’t like this piece by piece bit. We need a budget, PERIOD! I don’t care how uncomfortable and hard it will be for both sides we got to do it!
Wait………the WHCD is this week-end?
Yes Cookemom! C-Span coverage of the arrivals starts at 6:15, get your popcorn ready!
I’m so excited about our annual TOD family night watching the WHCD together Chipsticks!!!
Cheesy puffs at the ready GGail!!!!
E Channel will be doing their First Ever Red Carpet for WHCD. Barbra Streisand would also be there. I think she hardly attends these events.
Thanks Chipsticks on the Duddette update. She has been missed. Continue recovery Dudette.
A very huge pleasure GGail, blissful news!
Indeed it is
The rich are getting all these small victories in congress. And now being cornered into a expensive War? These issues are slowly mounting up, only thing stopping the Ruthless Barons from total domination is the guy in the WH.
They are trying real hard but they are failing and they are mad. PBO see’s right though them. It’s over, stop crying.
So I guess old shoot em up McCain want the U.S. to go get Syria, Iran, and stop by and finish Iraq, stay in Afghanistan and who else, Vietnam. War, war, war, with that old fool.

Somewhat OT:
Please disregard everyone. Some things are just never meant to be understood.
I am Glad to hear about Dudette. Feel Better.

Welcome back Toon Moene!! And what a beautiful comment to mark your return, so true about those who stayed in line for hours to vote, absolute heroes.
W.H. warns against piecemeal sequester fixes
-/
Unobligated funds? Sounds good to me! 🙂
What are you saying Jovie,,,,
A behind the scenes funny from yesterday. . . Enjoy! 😀

Congratulations 😎
A Tip of my Hat to your academic achievements.
Brilliant. Fantastic.
