Happy music for a grumpy day

Well, it’s been a generally grumpy day for me. So what can cure a grumpy day? Happy music!

The Monkees “Daydream Believer”

Lovin’ Spoonful – “What A Day for a Daydream”

The Young Rascals – “Groovin”

And if you can’t get happy to this, you must be a Robin van Persie acolyte.

And, a poem.

I shall imagine life
is not worth dying, if
(and when) roses complain
their beauties are in vain

but though mankind persuades
itself that every weed’s
a rose, roses (you feel
certain) will only smile

β€”e.e. cummings

This is your night owl open thread.

Three blonde friends find themselves standing in front of the pearly gates with St. Peter. He warns them that before they can enter heaven, they have to tell him what Easter is about.

The first blonde says, “Easter is a holiday where we give thanks, have a big feast and eat turkey.”

“Nooooo,” groans St. Peter. “You don’t get in.”

The second blonde says, “Easter is the holiday where we decorate a tree with pretty ornaments and give each other presents.”

“Nooooo,” groans St. Peter. “You don’t get in, either.”

The third blonde says, “Well, I know what Easter is all about. Easter is a Christian holiday which coincides with the Jewish Passover. After Jesus celebrated Passover with his disciples, he was betrayed by Judas and turned over to the Romans. They crucified him on a cross. After he died, they buried him in a tomb and put a huge boulder in front of it.”

    “Very good!” says St. Peter.

But the blonde continues. “Now, every year, the Jews roll the stone away and Jesus comes out. If he sees his shadow, we have 6 more weeks of winter.”

I watched the Presidential book of secrets on History 2 channel. This weeks show was the Ku Klux Klan.
They started out saying that this president has faced open racism and techniques employed by the KKK, like voter suppression.
You should watch it, amazing info and at least people are recording what’s going on.

First of all, obamacare is a deprecate bill paid for by itself.
Second , what obamacare officials? Sebelius? Wtf are they talking about.

Hello Dear Chips & TODers! Dropping in briefly before I crash.

Heck No, LL! You can’t remain the Grumpy for too long now! How the heck are you? OK? Hugs!

I miss you all. It’s been crazy-hectic lately, but I see a light at the beginning of June! Screw the tunnel, I’m taking June! LOL! Just had to drop by & say Hi-yaa! I need a clone of me! Or a couple! Just kidding! That would be terrifying to all my folks!

Have been somewhat lurking when on my 36-passenger limo to/from& work & have to say Japa, Bobfr, UT, AMK [totally forgetting someone, excuse me because I’m knackered] your tweets are magnificent. Hats off to all the blog tyrants. Magnifico!

Chips, my darlin’, you’ve got to go easy on those orange thingies! LOL! Some were saying that Trader Joe’s has some kinda healthy take on those …. well, I hope so! Meanwhile, you only live once, you can decide on a damn good wine (or a pint) instead! πŸ™‚

My MD folks, what’s your take on our Fab Gov. Martin (yes, I can pretend we’re on first name basis, but I did add the respect of Gov.!) thinking about running in 2016? This is becoming interesting. Hate to lose him as Gov. in MD now. Love what MD is progressing into. Uggh, conflicted.

Jovie, don’t worry about the Dallas trip. All’s good. Light those candles.

I like your Gov. very much, and so does my niece who is in Silver Springs, MD. I hope your Gov. decides to run. He is by far the best Gov. in the Country. Right now my #1 candidate is VP Biden. If he decides not to run I will be behind your great Gov.

      • 103 nathkatun7
        April 25, 2013 at 5:10 am

Exactly,Gazelle! If Congress passes legislation to exempt FAA from sequestration, just because rich people are being inconvenienced, Congress should be exposed for what it is. The Republican dominated Congress (I include the routine use of the filibuster as part of that domination) exists solely for the purpose of protecting the interest of the rich! Republican dominated Congress could care less about the 99%, and especially the very poor. That’s who the sequester is aimed at.

    • 104 99ts
      April 25, 2013 at 1:23 am

You said it, 99! They’re fine with impacts to kindergarten kids who won’t get a decent start in life, or disabled and elderly people struggling to manage their care – not a peep in protest. But, inconvenience a few CEOs who can’t take off in their private jets on time? All of a sudden, we hear from the representatives of the “people”/corporations. It’s awful.

    • April 25, 2013 at 1:59 am

No exceptions to the sequester unless it helps the poor first.

A little laugh for the night…

A burglar broke into a house one night. He shined his flashlight around, looking for valuables when a voice in the dark said, ‘Jesus knows you’re here.’

He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight off, and froze. When he heard nothing more, he shook his head and continued.

Just as he pulled the stereo out so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard ‘Jesus is watching you.’

Startled, he shined his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice. Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot.

‘Did you say that?’ he hissed at the parrot.

‘Yes’, the parrot confessed, then squawked, ‘I’m just trying to warn you that he’s watching you.’

The burglar relaxed. ‘Warn me, huh? Who in the world are you?’

    ‘Moses,’ replied the bird.

‘Moses?’ the burglar laughed. ‘What kind of people would name a bird Moses?’

‘The kind of people who would name a Rottweiler Jesus.’

Now they’re saying the young brother had no gun when he was captured? So no suicide shot in the mouth, as reported, no exchange of gunfire as reported. And no big arsenal with the 2 brothers as reported. They had 1 gun between them, that gun likely confiscated with the demise of the older brother. I can understand some confusion in the immediate reporting, but I remember seeing the Boston police chief days later making the false reports. I don’t like being lied to.

It is how police shootings are always justified – he had a gun (well we thought he did). With so many guns in private hands the police seem to assume everyone is armed.

I’m not being argumentative here…just trying to sift through the gut tightening feeling that I had when I read that only one handgun was found, #2 unarmed, yet, I saw the Police Chief tell an entirely different story several days after the capture…clearly he should have known by then that what he was saying was not the truth and if he didn’t then that is kinda scary to me that a Police Chief would go on tv and give false information. I guess I’m just worried about perceptions. Believe me, I wanted the entire military called in to catch the two “Jihad wannabe terrorists”………maybe I wanted it to be true b/c it would support gun control…..and maybe I’m afraid it desensitises information coming from officials…..I do know it gives me an uncomfortable feeling.

    • 142 amk for obama
      April 25, 2013 at 8:24 am

Yup. The public information management from bpd and fbi has not very professional thus far.

      • April 25, 2013 at 8:32 am

Did the BPD/FBI actually say that he had firearms – or did the media report that the BPD/FBI said so? Many times, it’s the MSM reporting that a “Local police authority” or a “Gov’t official” reported, but they never give a name. The “dark-skinned male” rumor spread by John King reportedly came from a “senior government official”

I think the MSM is trying to make the FBI look incompetent by spreading false rumors and then retracting them later. The FBI doesn’t have the time/energy/resources to be going after the media for every little infraction, so the end result is muddled info being reported in the media and the public (as usual) getting the wrong impression about who’s really at fault. The MSM also loves to create enough doubt in people’s minds to stir up conspiracy theories – it’s good for their bottom line and revenue.

I blame the corrupt media 100%.

        • 144 amk for obama
          April 25, 2013 at 8:46 am

While I agree the 100% corrupt msm is the main source of misinformation, I don’t buy the theory that these federal and state institutes don’t have the power or resources what is the msm saying. It’s part of their job description, isn’t it ?

And they could have very well taken to social media to tamp down the msm rumors and put out the facts. That could have shamed at least a few msm outlets to report facts.

        • April 25, 2013 at 9:50 am

I think the MSM says things that are blatantly wrong to GET the police or FBI to give them information. I also believe the police feeds the stupid media something just to get them off their backs or flush people out. I wonder if those marathon killers would have been so nonchalant in the following days if their faces were on teevee minutes after the bombing or high tailing out of town. To say it was a “dark skinned person” meant the authorities were looking for the opposite of who they were and they probably felt they had time to plan more

    • 146 Lovepolitics2008
      April 25, 2013 at 10:14 am

This is how conspiracy theories begin. Are we going to learn now that the 200 or so gun shuts heard at the scene the first night were are all coming from the police and not from the two brothers ?

The Watertown Police Chief seemed sincere and emotional in his interview with Lawrence O’Donnell, when he described that scene, and the danger his guys were in.

      I don’t know.

Law enforcement agencies better get their acts together when it comes to communications with media and the public. The confusion, spreading of rumors just make them lose credibility.
