Oh, my my my! I have had it too easy what with all this ‘resting’, and ‘healing’, and am feeling like I need to just stop being first so much….. Not so fun for others, so that’s it. I’m all topped up, I have a fantastic pic, and I will slip in and out silently for a while, in honor of all the grace on this blog-sanctuary!

        • April 22, 2013 at 11:20 am

How’s the healing going Pamela, are you getting there?

Sunday was not good, today seems to be better, thanks Chipsticks. Mornings are easier, before all the hobbling around on crutches puts stress on muscles and joints. One day, soon, this too, shall pass!

            • April 22, 2013 at 11:45 am

Ah Pamela, sounds like you’re still really going through it – less hobbling, rest up!

It will pass. Nothing lasts forever. You will heal. Sometimes things happen for a reason. We never know. One day you might look back and say “Oh that is why I was knocked down.” Trust me, I’ve been there and looking back I can see the reason for a lot of things. Stay strong, you are going to be just fine.

Thanks MissPat! In these weeks I have absolutely figured out why I was knocked down! It was the only way to get me to actually SIT DOWN and rest, as that is something I have never really learned. Well, I’m learning it now, for sure! I was warned in the concern of kind and well-meaning friends, but sometimes we have to do what needs to be done, and sometimes there are unfavorable consequences. (different here than GWB) ! 🙂

It was the only way to get you to sit down and get rest. See, you got your answer right away. Some people have to wait years to get an answer. That is exactly what I was trying to tell you but didn’t want to use those words, trying to be diplomatic. Rest and enjoy your respite. Stay blessed!

Good morning once again. I give ya’ll another one of my errant e-mails for a daily chuckle.

God grant me the senility to forget the
people I never liked anyway; the good fortune to run into the ones I do; and, the eyesight to tell the difference. —— Now that I’m “older” (but refuse to grow up), here’s what I’ve discovered:

    1. I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.

    2. My wild oats have turned into prunes and All Bran.

    3. I finally got my head together; now my body is falling apart.

    4. Funny, I don’t remember being absent-minded.

    4. Funny, I don’t remember being absent-minded.

    5. All reports are in; life is now officially unfair.

    6. If all is not lost, where is it?

    7. It is easier to get older than it is to get wiser.

    8. Some days you’re the dog; some days you’re the hydrant.

    9. I wish the buck stopped here; I sure could use a few.

    10. Kids in the back seat cause accidents.

    11. Accidents in the back seat cause kids.

    12. It’s hard to make a comeback, when you haven’t been anywhere.

    13. The only time the world beats a path to your door is when you’re in the bathroom.

    14. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would have put them on my knees.

    15. When I’m finally holding all the cards, why does everyone decide to play chess?

    16. It’s not hard to meet expenses … they’re everywhere.

    17. The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.

    18. These days, I spend a lot of time thinking about the hereafter — I go somewhere to get something and then wonder what I’m here after.

    20. Funny, I don’t remember being … absent-minded.

This Morning on CBS, they reported that the wife of the #1 was living with him and had said that she knew nothing……..She quit College, a bright woman and converted to Islam. She worked outside the home and He took care of their 3 yrs old daughter.

Last Night….that report above was the opposite. They said that she was no longer living with him. The husband fixed cars.

Anyhow, the authorities want to talk to her. She is now back with her parents in RI.

Nena, I didn’t realize he had a little daughter. Think of what that poor child has to live with all her life, learning from those around her that her father was a killer. If he actively took care of this little girl, it’s hard to imagine how he could have done this to her.

      April 22, 2013 at 12:26 pm

Just heard Pete Williams say “interrogation” was too grand of a word for any questioning of suspect. He is on a respirator and any responses may have been slight nodding of head (or not), happening intermittently (or not). That’s a far cry from the media impression of suspect writing answers to questions. And with the police chief implying they were anxious to get answers but were not yet able to question him—–hmmmmmmmm.

        April 22, 2013 at 1:01 pm

Having been on a respirator before.. I can say that even writing would be very very hard. I wrote a page long letter to my mom when I was on a respirator that was 100% indecipherable. I remember writing it and what I was thinking even though I was heavily drugged… but none of it was legible.

“Fallout for states rejecting Medicaid expansion”

Rejecting the Medicaid expansion in the federal health care law could have unexpected consequences for states where Republican lawmakers remain steadfastly opposed to what they scorn as “Obamacare.”

    • It could mean exposing businesses to Internal Revenue Service penalties. Under the law, employers with 50 or more workers that don’t offer coverage face penalties if just one of their workers gets subsidized private insurance through the new state markets.

    • It could leave low-income citizens unable to afford coverage even as legal immigrants get financial aid for their premiums. Under the health law, U.S. citizens below the poverty line — $11,490 for an individual, $23,550 for a family of four — can only get coverage through the Medicaid expansion. But lawfully present immigrants who are also below the poverty level are eligible for subsidized private insurance.

    • For the poorest people, it could virtually guarantee that they will remain uninsured and dependent on the emergency room at local hospitals that already face federal cutbacks. Under the law, U.S. citizens below the poverty line can only get taxpayer-subsidized coverage by going into Medicaid. But other low-income people making just enough to put them over the poverty line can get subsidized private insurance through the new state markets.

Mornin’/Good Afternoon, TOD! I’m late to the Earth Day parade, but, as an inhabitant of the Earth, and hoping you haven’t seen this yet, I’ll share the President’s Earth Day 2013 Proclamation:

… On Earth Day, we celebrate our rich legacy of stewardship and reflect on what we can do, as individuals and as a Nation, to preserve our planet for future generations …

… The first Earth Day marked a renewal of America’s global leadership in conservation. It began as a national discussion on pollution and came to embody a simple truth: that nothing is more powerful than millions of voices calling for change. In only a few years, those voices rang as clear in our laws as on our streets — from the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency to landmark legislation for clean air and water. These successes continue to bring health and prosperity to communities nationwide, demonstrating that our economy can grow alongside a healthy environment …

OT, but sciencey. Just heard from oldest daughter who is in Puerto Rico with family. Said they had a great adventure last night—-went on a night kayak tour, thru mangrove lined channels to Laguna Grande in Fajardo, a bioluminescent bay—–which glows in the dark with every paddle—-and when you put hand in water—-a deep blue —–a phenomenon resulting from 1-celled organisms which exist there—-part plant, part animal. She said it was a beautiful magical sight—-all the blue coming from all the paddles —-and all surface waters glowing. I had never heard about this, so this is my science lesson for today.

With the infrequency of inspections and knowing that inadequate resources made inspections unlikely in the near future, it wouldn’t be hard to make the leap to a conspiracy theory. But I would think their biggest offense is trying to reduce costs (increase profits) by skimping or ignoring safety measures.
