One more tragedy to add to this crazy week for the nation and PBO:

Air Force major general, wife die in plane crash in Virginia

    Published: April 20, 2013 at 10:48 PM

WILLIAMSBURG, Va., April 20 (UPI) — A small plane crashed in Virginia, killing a U.S. Air Force major general and his wife, the Air Force said Saturday.

Maj. Gen. Joseph D. Brown IV and his wife Sue died Friday when the Cessna 210 he was piloting crashed in Williamsburg, the Air Force said in a release posted on its official website.

Brown has been commandant of the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy in Washington since October 2010.

This is really great image, Chipsticks! I am slightly younger than Sidney Poitier, but I cried like a baby on November 4, 2008! I never imagined I would be alive when this country elected an African American President. The other two times I cried so much from joy was when Nelson Mandela was released from prison and then again when he was elected the first Black President of South Africa. For people like Sidney Poitier who went through the trauma of the Jim Crow period, and the really bloody Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, when we lost so many courageous leaders, like Dr. King, the election of President Obama was like a tsunami or an earthquake! I suppose that was also true for people who deeply believed in white supremacy and never imagined that America would elect a black person as President.

Yes, nath, when I saw (and saved) this pic, I was thinking: “in my lifetime”, with a fulfilled sense of gratitude and really how impossible it seemed in the early 60’s, that we would live to witness this wonder. Tremendous grace, really.

I just showed this picture to my husband who is from TX, loves and respects his guns and is a progressive democrat (go ahead folks. I know. Take a minute and wrap your head around that). He paused looked at down and then once again recited to me his two basic rules about guns. “1. The gun is always loaded. Even when you know it’s not. It’s always loaded. 2. Never point the gun at something you do not wish to destroy.”

      mic drop.

I shudder when I am unfortunate enough to see this miserable trio and reflect on how we suffered under them for 8 long years. The relief and gratitude that I feel toward PBO and the smart governance that have replaced the nightmare years is immeasurable.

Yes Bob! yes that’s exactly how I feel too. Can we through Wolfowitz in there too? Some say GWB was just too plain dumb and only served as the figurehead while the real power was being wielded by Rum, Cheney and Wolf cabal. But at some point even if you believe that, (which I kind of do. I don’t think Georgie was a real bright guy), George understood what was going on and he did nothing to stop them.

These evil men did so much damage to our nation. and their legacy continues. it takes a lot of undoing. I thank god for PBO. I wish we could elect him for a third term. (although I’m afraid he’d have snowy white hair by the end of that)

Isn’t Maureen Dowd still hanging out with Allen Sorkin? Those two right there think they are very important and oh do smart.
Are a member of the so called Liberal Beltway and Ny Elite.
Who, if paid enough money, will cash their values in for a high rise Apartment in upper East.
That’s the problem with these Liberal Elites, they think like Right wingers, employ the same tactics as they do, and have no loyalty to anybody. They hate both sides, and are very cynical.
Has Maureen Dowd ever said anything nice?
And what about when the President went to Ireland and she got in every tv station, local and International and trashed the President?
If you don’t think that was coordinated, I got some beach front property to sell you on Mars.
Anyways…., these journalists are paid to smear the President. Again, left or right, they are paid to say and write exactly what they are told.

Don’t blame Aaron Sorkin for Maureen Dowd’s foolishness and lack of intelligence. Aaron Sorkin has been a staunch supporter of Pres. Obama and doesn’t deserve to be maligned just because Maureen Dowd used a movie he made in her dumb article. How is that his fault? He made a movie ages ago before Barack Obama was ever president and that Maureen Dowd chooses to use it in a 2013 article has nothing to do with Sorkin.

He didn’t sit down for her article, he didn’t provide a quote. If Rob Marshall’s movie were to be used by a rightwinger in an article, are we then supposed to blame Marshall who doesn’t have a single republican bone in his body?

      • 90 Jovie
        April 21, 2013 at 9:12 am

Their appears to be a few Sorkins roaming around.
        Andrew Ross, Allan and Aaron.
        I didn’t mention Aaron.
        You did!
        LOL!!!

        • 91 utaustinliberal
          April 21, 2013 at 9:29 am

Oh please Jovie, this is BS. I read Dowd’s article and it was Aaron Sorkin she talked about. There is no Allan Sorkin. The links you provided for an Allan Sorkin were crap. Google redirected me to “Aaron Sorkin” because that is who is out there. She never dated an Andrew Ross Sorkin or an Allan Sorkin. That’s nonsense.

You were wrong and can’t admit that; so you pull out “Allan Sorkin.” Hahahahaha….c’mon. Get real. Aaron Sorkin writes screenplays, wrote the West Wing, and writes The Newsroom. That’s who she referenced in her article. “Aaron Sorkin” not some mythical “Allan Sorkin” that’s not in show business.

You don’t like Maureen Dowd’s article. Fine. But don’t try to malign Aaron Sorkin just because she used his movies/works in her article. That’s wrong.

She also dated George Clooney. If she uses a George Clooney movie in her article, are you then going to malign George Clooney? Get your facts straight before you tar and feather someone else with the Maureen Dowd brush.

            April 21, 2013 at 9:40 am

Well I didn’t read dowds article I only read comments here.
Quit assuming you know what I am doing.
I was responding to several tweets above and read online that she went out with Allan sorkin. Ok? Is that ok with you? Jeesh!
Anger issues towards certain individual on this blog much?

            • 93 utaustinliberal
              April 21, 2013 at 9:48 am

It’s not anger issues. This is on you. You didn’t read an article yet commented as though you read the entire article. That’s wrong and gives everyone else who might have used your comment (as one who read the article) and run away with it, the wrong idea. It’s misleading and unfair.

You didn’t read an article and instead of realizing you were wrong, you want to use anger issues as a way to avoid the fact that you were wrong. Reading an article is not just for reading sake, it helps an individual inform any comment he/she makes. That’s on you not on me that you didn’t read the article.

No, but she has dated Allen Sorkin and Michael Douglas a while back.

The link you gave is weird. It’s about Maureen and Matthew Dowd being/not being married to each other. It has nothing to do with Aaron Sorkin.

              There is no “Allen Sorkin”

The links you keep providing keep disproving whatever point you think you’re trying to make.

Counter-terrorism guy on CBS 48 Hours last night, in discussing the inability to question the suspect because of injuries, said that suspect’s gunshot wound on back of neck was an exit wound—–that it appears—-or there is the possibility that—-he shot himself in the mouth in a suicide attempt as authorities closed in. Tongue and throat said to be greatly damaged—–will be long time before he could speak—-if ever—–but could put him on computer to answer questions if/when he stabilizes.
