Excuse you? You came after Chelsea first and now you want to complain? You step on Chelsea and then complain when the shark rips you to pieces? HA!

I can take your gift away in a jiffy.

Wait, I was joking with my Chelsea and “taking away your gift” response… but when did I personally attack you? I only “attacked” your team Manchester United like I do with Chips and like Chips does with Chelsea. The only other time I responded was when you attacked my university and I just responded by talking about your university.

Well, I was going to post a, well, post, but the freaks and the deviants at the library decided to all whine at me at the same time. So, there shall be a Caturday post in a few hours while it’s still, you know, Caturday.

UT, you really know how to make a happy Saturday afternoon. This is the kind of post that makes me smile and feel better about the world. I don’t think I can ever remember a deeper friendship between a First Lady and the Vice President’s wife. I tried thinking back all the way to Eleanor Roosevelt and Bess Truman and couldn’t come up with one. These two just click and they are each stunningly beautiful. And you can tell it isn’t put on for the cameras. They truly like and respect each other.

I see the Repubs who voted for debate said they only did so because they were assured they could load the thing up with amendments——making it a possibility—–a goal by many—–to weaken not just the current proposal but existing gun laws. That is just unbelievable to me. Beyond sickening. This can’t happen.

S.C. Rep. Jeff Duncan sounds real smart. He said that if we expand background checks, the U.S. will become Rwanda and gun owners will become targets for slaughter.
    Republicans are crazy.

Op-ed on gun issue, pushing Bobfr’s oft-tweeted need to involve the insurance industry—–require gun owners to carry liability insurance—-a la car owners——one smart idea which would make a huge difference. Hopefully this notion is spreading, much thanks to our Bobfr—-need to hear about it on the national level.

RWNJ crazies that compose Bibi’s government trying to pull this load of malarky, as VP Biden would say.

Gosh, big surprise, the mayor who “dropped his bid for reelection” is a Republican (party of family values).

I wonder if this is anywhere close to where Alycee is active in the local community.

when you read these stories you have to wonder…if there are any sane republicans…these folks are unbelievable…truly…from Rand Paul going to Howard U trying to school the students on race politics to Corbett telling women to close their eyes….

Corbett is having a great ol’ time enjoying Brazilian and Chilean hospitality:

Meanwhile (not to boast, but the entire country would benefit if CA once again stepped up to lead the way in solar energy and high-speed rail; and the Chinese investors would also come out ahead):

Syria … latest from trustworthy sources …

    TIMELINE – 13th APRIL 2013 15.40 GMT:

Heavy fighting broke out on Friday around the town of Qamishli in the predominantly Kurdish province of Hasakah to the north-east of the country.http://www.petercliffordonline.com/syria-news

Most of the province is already under Kurdish or Opposition control, though the regime had retained a presence in Qamishli, which is both near the border with Turkey and Iraq, holding the the airport and the Tartab military base.

Similarly, in their campaign to neutralise Assad’s Air Force, Opposition fighters have completely surrounded Deir Ez-Zour airport to the south, raining mortars on Government positions and destroying ammunition depots, fuel tanks and 4 aircraft standing on the ground.

Fierce clashes are being reported in the last 48 hours along the border with Lebanon, where the Army is targeting a whole string of villages and the town of Qusair which remain under Opposition control. Qusair is considered vital to both sides as it controls the main highway from Homs to Damascus. Shelling and bombing could be heard from the village of al-Qasr in Lebanon.

So the MSM is at their usual shenanigans…making Hillary think that the GOP is really scared of her. It’s amazing how the media loves to help the GOP with all kinds of silly mind games and tricks. It didn’t work in 2012 – what makes them think it will work in 2016?!?!?

// HOLLYWOOD — Republican leaders plotted their party’s political comeback on Thursday with plans to court minority voters and modernize their political operations. But some wondered if one person could make it all for naught: Hillary Clinton. As attendees of the Republican National Committee’s spring meeting debated party rules and a refurbished GOP brand capable of winning back the White House, more than two dozen operatives and officials expressed worry that none of their party’s potential 2016 candidates can take her down.

One early primary state RNC member put it simply: “If she gets in, we’re toast.”

To be sure, Clinton enjoyed a similar sense of inevitability in 2005, but Republicans say she looks more formidable this time around. “We thought we could beat her [in 2008] because she was seen as bitter and unlikeable — and that’s what Obama proved,” said one Republican operative at the meeting. But Clinton finished her tenure as Secretary of State with stratospheric approval ratings, has added four years of Cabinet-level foreign policy making to her resume, and appears far less likely to face a strong 2016 primary challenge like the one Obama mounted in 2007 and 2008. “We’re hoping she doesn’t run, because if she does, she’ll win,” said the same operative. //

I highly recommend reading the Center on Budget and Policy Priority’s analysis of President Obama’s budget here. Particularly the part concerning Social Security. Their analysis details an accompanying increase in benefits for average recipients, a larger increase for low wage earners, and an exemption for means-tested programs.

That’s not to say “Yeehaw chained CPI is awesome!” but clearly the terms of the debate have been overblown and there are far more important things included in the budget than 0.25% slower growth for Joe Biden. Universal pre-K and tens of billions of dollars for infrastructure seem far more important to me.

The Center for American Progress has details on the president’s proposal for education here.

I was hoping EdwinaNJ would join his conversation, but here’s an uplifting story about an NJ mother and her adopted Sierra Leone daughter:

I often skim UK’s Daily Mail because they can’t be beat for photos; but most of their commenters have the mentality of second-graders (apology to all schoolchildren) and so it’s wisest to avoid the comments section.

Irin Carmon at Salon published an important expose this morning of Organic Eden Foods. The company, which shamelessly drapes its marketing in feel-good liberal terms while harboring paleoconservative politics, has joined the fight to deny employees their earned insurance benefits if they use those benefits to cover contraception.* Irin describes their marketing:

Until now, Eden Foods’ conservative advocacy litigation has remained mostly under the radar, even as their marketing seems designed to appeal to liberals, from the slogan ”Organic agriculture is society’s brightest hope for positive change” to the sixties imagery and the use of the word “revolution” in some of its print marketing. The company’s mission statement includes its goal to “contribute to peaceful evolution on earth,” “to maintain a healthy, respectful, challenging, and rewarding environment for employees,” and to “cultivate sound relationships with other organizations and individuals who are like minded and involved in like pursuits.”
