On the last thread I strongly agreed with ZIzi’s take on the Clinton Machine’s efforts.
Here’s a new question. Why have the Clinton’s decided to fight PBO again? Why not try to charm their way back into prominence again?

Plouffe said “there is no list apart from our candidate,” when he was asked to hand over OFA’ s members. Maybe that was the call to arms.
So, instead of attempting persuasion and courtesy Bill Clinton went right to war. Ashley Judd first caualty.
Now let’s see what happens in LA’s mayoral race. There is a Clinton preferrred candidate, kathy somebody and PBO has declined to endorse much to Eric Garcetti’s dismay. I expect this scenario to be repeated all over the map. Every battle is PBO vs The Clinton Machine.

Anybody else see things this way?

yes, i do. been the same battle since 1992…actual, real liberal policy enacted (people like president obama) versus corporate butt-kissing for their money (clintons)

    • 35 57andfemale
      April 8, 2013 at 6:06 pm

Why? Because the Clintons proved themselves to be very petty people during the primaries. I maintain that it was their treatment of PBO – a level of acrimony that really had never been exhibited between two national Democrats – that gave ‘permission’ for the Republicans to act as they have the last 4+ years. I remember a high level Republican saying that they didn’t know how to run against PBO, because there were lines of decency that still existed. The Clinton behavior opened a fissure in political discourse, and that it was the Clintons doing it held particular power. And he still be the pants off them.

Oh – and John McCain unleashing Sarah Palin may have been the single most destructive political act in modern history. It gave power to Teh Stupid to infect higher level politics; and that it was done by John McCain should have sent him to retire in abject shame.

I will be forever grateful for Bill’s help in 2012 – no one can take that away from him. He was effing brilliant. I think Hillary was fine as SoS, but not especially memorable if you just look at the record. I have always questioned if she had real greatness in her. I guess we’ll find out.

I am bristling now but I know I’ll get over it if she’s the nominee. I cannot preach about the long term game, and then not practice what I preach. I want Democratic control to continue, and if she’s our nominee I will support her, give her money, and help her get elected. But I won’t love her the way I love PBO.

These are my exact sentiments. The Clinton’s opened the door and i hated them for it. They worked their off my s*** list but — i will never truly forgive or forget.

Seriously I really wish the Newtown parents would publish the bullet-riddled pictures of their children so we cut through the diabolical NRA propaganda and buying of congresscritters. Emmett Till’s mother allowed open casket viewing of the horrible body of her son after he was lynched by MS mob for ostensibly whistling at a white woman. The media showed that around the world and opinion about racial violence changed, and gave impetus tot eh civil rights movement.

I know times have changed, but I am infuriated by the blase attitudes of the corporate media. Zero empathy for the families and only discussing the death of these kids & teachers as if it were a game. sickening

    • April 8, 2013 at 5:42 pm

I absolutely agree. They need something that bangs them over the head, so they can not distance themselves. They need the hard reality that these families will deal with for the rest of their lives.

      • 42 zekke Lydonna
        April 8, 2013 at 7:08 pm

i have been thinikng the same thing. The problem is the photos would be around forever. i would not wish that on the families.

    • April 8, 2013 at 5:48 pm

I know the sentiment you’re trying to convey, but the truth is, decent people don’t actually need to see those pictures. The fact that the situation even happened should be enough for decent people to be sickened – and we’re seeing that to be the case. 91% of the public supports various gun control measures to bring a more safe society to children and adults alike. Those who are still clinging to their guns and paranoia won’t be moved by pictures of bullet-riddled babies and they’re not moved by the images of crying parents holding the gap-toothed pictures of their now dead six year olds.

The NRA, the Senators who do their bidding, and the sick gun-owners who hold their right to own death-delivering weapons as superior to the right of people to live without fear of being gunned down are disgusting and sick. They are not decent, and even if they had been standing in those blood-stained classrooms, their response would have been: “if only someone had had a gun in this classroom”. They’re not decent. They’re not normal.

And their indecent behavior is applauded by too many in the media and the legislature. EVERY member of congress should have 2 pictures of Gabby Giffords on their desk – before and after the shooting – with the message – “this could have been me”

“LAS VEGAS (AP) โ€” A top executive with the owner of the Fox broadcast network threatened Monday to convert the network to a subscription channel on cable or satellite TV if Internet startup Aereo Inc. continues to “steal” Fox’s over-the-air signal and sell it to consumers without paying for rights.”

FOX was a laughingstock in November 2012. Hannity’s numbers are way down and Rachell Maddow has won the night against him several times since the President’s re-election.

And now they are threatening to make people pay for their crap.

If business owners had to pay for FOX, maybe that would end the practice of inflicting FOX on captive customers.

Please 2013 and Aero, Inc, come through and relegate FOX to the dustbin of history.

A D.C. Superior Court judge on Monday ordered a Florida man charged with carrying three unregistered guns and ammunition to the U.S. Capitol Building on Sunday to remain in D.C. jail and undergo a 24-hour psychological screening.

Anniebella, our esteemed Republican Senator, Richard Burr (R-NC), has not told his staff how he will vote on the filibuster, but he does not want any new laws. The staffer said people in NC do not want universal background checks. I told her Elon University took a poll which has 90% of the state desiring universal background checks. She said he had other polls. I guess he told his staff to lie.

Emotional from the introduction through President Obama’s moving and motivating words. I can’t believe that 13 Repubs are now saying they will not even allow a vote on these issues, legislation that is supported by 90% of the public–common sense legislation which will help to protect our kids and so many other innocents from losing their lives to gun violence. These people should be booted out of Congress—–they are not representing the interests of the American people. They are obstructing sensible, desperately needed gun laws. They are turning their backs on all these families who have endured immeasurable anguish, who are hoping for some good to come from their grief, some decency. It’s heartless and soulless and beyond belief.

So, according to the beltway media, President Obama legacy is in jeopardy if he congress somehow fails to pass a resourceful gun violence legislation. What planet are these people living on? Are we to believe that congress has no responsibilities to doing what is right for the American people? Last I checked the United States have three branches of government, and each have their respective duties and responsibilities under the constitution. Like the President stated in Newton today, this is not about him. This is not about a make or break moment for President Obama. It is about doing what is right for all those who have lost love ones to senseless gun violence.

Hi meta. Another reason we love and support him, right? That is what I speak of when I talk about his core.

What another beautiful way to honor the precious children of our beautiful parents of Sandy Hook and all of us who love our brothers and sisters and want to do what is right for all families of parents all over America who have little ones and olders ones who deserve a vote. Air Force One is helping us honor these precious little ones who have left us.

The parents are flying in on Air Force One with the man who really cares along with their representatives. Now it is time for Congress to listen to them again. And we will support and continue to help them get their message out before these men and women of Congress.

I was just praying and meditating last evening after watching 60 Minutes, and just thinking how beautiful it would be for all of our TOD Family to be there in DC with lines wrapped all around the entire Capitol. Well, Air Force One has a very beautiful group of parents going to Washington,DC., with their president.

And if the MSM clowns want to gab about this ride, then we will be ready to push back on their behalf. We The People here are on the ‘right side of history.’ Stand With Them!HZ

Now, we ask for more wisdom to be poured out all over that place this week. Speak into your spaces, TOD Family members for a ‘miracle of action’ on behalf of all who loss a loved one to gun violence, and especially to those precious little ones at Sandy Hook.

Somewhere deep inside, they see what he is,and see what they are, and the only way they can deal with that horrible dissonance is to demean him. Don’t they realize, that they only demean themselves and show what they are to everyone? They have failed so far, and will continue to do so.

I just don’t think there are any words to describe how furious I am at Richard Burr….his f..ing picture up there to filibuster the vote on gun control…..I am not a person who easily hates but I vow, if it takes every penny I have and every ounch of energy I can muster up at 70 I will fight to get that SOB out of the Senate….Whoever is from NC reading this……… CALL HIS DAMN OFFICE TOMORROW….enough of this…this is just crazy….

His office told me late this afternoon they did not know how he was going to vote on the filibuster. I told her the Elon University poll showed 90% of the state supported universal background checks. She said Burr had other polls showing universal background checks were not wanted by a majority of voters, which must be a lie.

POB again gave America another piece of his beautiful heart. His core is centered on that ‘goodness of truth and what is right to do.’

We are so blessed to be living in this time with this great gift, our president. He is a man with a beautiful loving spirit; a brilliant mind; a calmness of spirit; a hardworking president; a man filled with compassion; a man who cares about others and how this journey is treating them along the way; and a president for All the people, no matter how much hate and evil remarks that are spoken against him daily. Those who bring on the obstruction in the Congress, certainly will see Karma visit them.

I love my president, and I will do all that I can to help him. He will always be the person that all of his friends and family will tell you that he is: A man with a core that is fixed on doing what is right to help others.

We support you, Mr. President. Chips has opened this place where we can discuss, share the intellect, spread the love, and most of all always show total respect to you, Mr. President. Thanks for sharing your beautiful spirit with the TOD Family. (((((((((( Blessings Always Go With You, Mr. President.)))))))))HZ

As best I can figure it, the only function of today’s GOP is to prevent Democrats from making the USA a better place for all.

JER, I watched it! You made my day! I have a question: when he boarded Marine1, doors closed, Marine did his walk away (sorry, don’t know the terminology, just love the pomp & circumstance), then the Marine guy turned back towards Marine1, & did a full bow until Marine1 turned to take off. I hadn’t seen that before, and was wondering what it symbolized. I found that fascinating!

The other lovely thing was to see PBO stand at the top of AF1 & let the Newtown parents go down the stairs before he did. Hugged, shook hands, and they went down the stairs & off to the side of the tarmac, out of camera. That was so PBO! Love my President! Do you think they were on the other ‘copter & are going to have dinner at the WH? Two ‘copters & Marine1 went off together in this lovely evening in DC-Metro. ๐Ÿ™‚

Filed under “our media is crap.”

Thought it would be easy to identify the troglodytes who threaten to filibuster gun safety legislation, but noooooooo.

    FL Marco Rubio

    ID Mike Crapo

    IN Dan Coats

    KS Jerry Moran
    KS Pat Roberts

    KY Mitch McConnell
    KY Rand Paul

    NC Richard Burr

    OK Jim Inhofe

    TX Ted Cruz

    UT Mike Lee
    WI Ron Johnson

    WY Mike Enzi

That’s only 13 names, but my journo twitter feed announcing “and McConnell makes 15” included no links.

We’re just supposed their word for it.

Why don’t the news sites have a link to a list of Senators threatening filibuster so that voters can easily spot whether their elected official is thwarting #TheyDeserveAVote?

Media has plenty of time to cover HILLARY 2016! or OBAMA SEXIST! or Fox News Reporter Could Go to Jail For Withholding Sources!
but have NO time to provide actual information that citizens can use.

Congresscritters and Senators are not the only ones who deserve to have their pay withheld.

Journalist should be docked pay for contributing only to non-stories.

Now let’s see what Harry Reid will do, because if he could have done something about the filibuster, he should have done it. I don’t want to put all the blame on Harry because I hear there were some Dems who were dragging their feet. But this prove that McConnell and most of the Republicans can not be trust.

I believe this was shared here yesterday, but I’m sharing again for my friend, Japa, as I’m not sure if he saw it. Japa, I only want you to listen to the President (2006) talking about modernizing programmes to fit the times, so to speak. (Smartypants gives an introduction before embedding the video.)
