The comparison between the Tuesday evening & Wednesday evening events shows just how much PBO will do for his country. I would so love to be there Tuesday (Is it streamed anywhere?) – but Wednesday – give them cake (or cookies if you live in Alaska) & tell them to go away

Guess I wasn’t made of President material – sigh – I don’t know how he keeps thinking the GOP wants to advance the country & help the unemployed.

this would be a good chance to serve them “Special White House Water” – no need to feed legislators whose stomachs are already full of campaign bribes from the 1%

Yes, or maybe the “Special White House Beer,” and charge ’em for it! I like where you’re going with this! ๐Ÿ™‚

You know, 99ts, I don’t think it’s that PBO THINKS the GOP in general wants to advance….. IMO it’s more that he is realistic enough to acknowledge that the way things are, he needs a handful of them to do their jobs. If meeting with the jokers and feeding them sugar helps, he’ll do it BECAUSE HIS PRIMARY AIM IS AS HE SAYS – to provide opportunities for growth for the middle class.

Hi JO’B! I was off watching the Newtown segments. I can’t imagine The Hill doing nothing productive in the face of all that pain.

Hello VC – I just weep because it is so difficult to find that handful – to me it just comes across as how much PBO wants to do for his country & how much the GOP wants to do to bring down the President.

My pessimism is showing – and it’s Monday morning here – I’ll take the advice of my mother & go do some housework – it numbs the mind – cause the body takes a hit!

My mother used to alternate between two pieces of advice for me, when I was young: (1) Make yourself hard, so things don’t bother you so much (I’d think to myself when she’d say that: Huh? What? Who would want to be like that?), or (2) You’ve just got to “keep going” (never got that one, either, until I got much, much older .. turns out she got much smarter as I became an adult myself – Ha!)

Hang in there, 99! We all have our days when skepticism or disillusionment rears its ugly head. That’s one good outcome of being part of a community – we can hold each other’s hand over the hump. I firmly believe, as I suspect you do, that Pres O will get as much done as he possibly can and that he’ll also get more done than the Repubs like.

Unfortunately the President has no choice but to try to deal with these insane teabag Republicans. Almost half of the country voted them in office. He has to show the people who voted for them that he is doing his best to work with them. And if they keep saying “NO” to everything, then in 2014 he can appeal to the people to throw them out of Congress and elect people who interested in solving problems.

Changing the subject for a minute, a good women basketball game on ESPN, Louisville and Cal. I feel kind of funny to be talking about basketball when you are talking about Sandy Hook.

Louisville women will be playing for the championship Tuesday, after the men play for it on Monday. If they were to win, I wonder if those sorry Kentucky Senators would accept POTUS invitation to the WH to see them. I might just pull for Michigan Monday, and Connecticut or the Irish women Tuesday.

I’ve been thinking (!)(yikes) since that incredible Misogynist thread, perhaps one of our talented team would take it to another level and create a thread with all the photos of PBO and the little girls! We all have seen how they light up, reach for him to get and give a hug, and that one little gal who kept kissing her hand after he shook it! The idea is women of ALL AGES see this special man for who he is! What say? ๐Ÿ˜‰

A question, may be even an uncomfortable one.

Are we having a pic overload in threads ? I had to skip the last thread after it took ages to load.

I know tod’s usp is those lovely photos, but are we overdoing it?

      April 7, 2013 at 9:00 pm

Not an uncomfortable question at all! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

But I don’t think we are not overdoing it, since in the history of TOD there’ve always been many pics/videos, etc., but maybe wordpress is the problem? Have you always had difficulty loading the pics? Or is it a recent thing?

      • 51 amk for obama
        April 7, 2013 at 9:06 pm

No, just the threads with two dozen or so pics. ๐Ÿ™‚

          April 7, 2013 at 9:11 pm

LOL! ok, sometimes I forget that there are even more pics in the rest of the post.

        • April 7, 2013 at 9:12 pm

Can’t remember where exactly, but I once looked at a site that analyzed WP blog loading times – TOD was in the bottom 10% ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Photos and videos are a curse, especially for a photos and videos blog. Firefox can’t handle the strain any more, five crashes today already ๐Ÿ™„

    Yes We Can

    • April 7, 2013 at 9:07 pm

As all of you know, the multifaceted implications of requiring all gun and ammo makers, sellers & users to have liability insurance would have major impact on everything from mental health exams, to training and licensing requirements, and market enforced limitations on types of guns and ammo in circulation.

Bring an industry that makes money because it understands risk and how to mitigate it to a leading role in altering the gun culture in America and that culture will definitely change – not in a week, but over a period of a few years, you will witness a dramatic decrease in gun violence. The precedents, from autos to tobacco and many other products (that don’t exist to enable and facilitate killing), are abundant.

Hi, Bobfr, what’s cooking? I could eat a second supper. ๐Ÿ˜‰

JackieG made a great suggestion to you recently which you may have missed. She asked if you had (considered) starting a petition re liability insurance vis-a-vis guns at WH.Gov. I think she was suggesting that if it got the required number of signatures it would be sure to reach the attention of the ‘right’ people who could take it further up the chain. It sounded like a good idea to me.

  14. April 7, 2013 at 8:59 pm

What happened to that Misogynist thread anyway? It appeared in my email, but when I clicked the title it gave me one of those “it’s not here” messages

We who support gun control need to be as crazy with our support as those who are against it. When the President ask us to contact our Congress person or Senator we need to do so, loud and often.
