Dan sat down for an interview and answered questions of what it is like to work as formerly the Communications Director for President Obama and now as his Chief Political Advisor
Preview of next installment: C-span Series on First Ladies
***
Each week beginning February 18th, “First Ladies: Influence and Image” will tell the stories of the women who served in the role of first lady over 44 administrations.
Amen! I’m taking a break after the first 15-minutes and then I’ll continue. Dan Pfeiffer is doing a good job of keeping calm and giving answers that he wants instead of falling for any of the baiting from that horrid interviewer. Wish Pfeiffer could have spent his time with an unbiased interviewer. He’s brave to enter this ring. The President has a great team.
I personally don’t believe any Dem/Progressive/Liberal should be advancing any articles/news stories from that right-wing mouth piece Politico. There are other reputable sources of information that can beused instead on GOPolitico.
I see we had a traffic jam – ut and lp both had new threads ready to go.
I bet Chipsticks is loving the fact that we have some great people ready and willing to post up new and interesting Threads – and we are the recipients! 🙂
Getting ready to see GIJoe in 3D. Just cause it was showing at this time. The damn 2D movie don’t start til like 8pm. BTW, whycome the ticket kid forgot to give us our 3D glasses? My sister says its cause he thought we were going to see Temptation … racist LOL
My children are in the demo, and they NEVER turn the TV on that early, in fact they don’t watch any news shows on TV. They get their news from the internet. They rarely watch TV at all.
We, on the other hand are in the age that supposedly watches TV all day. We don’t turn it on until the local news at 5 pm Central time. Then, during that half hour, my husband usually switches toRev. Al, and usually does not turn to network news.
We watched Chris Hayes a couple of times, and there were fairly good substantive discussions with new and interesting guests. However, Chris exhausts me! He bounces up and down, and always wants to insert himself………so, when hockey is on, that’s where my husband goes. I’m afraid that MSNBC has just about lost two once upon a time loyal viewers.
Off topic, but true. The starting pitcher today for the Chicago White Sox was D. Axelrod. He pitched 5.2 innings but did not get the decision. 58 years of age is a little old to go from politics into sport, but could it be?
Hollywood media violence can be turned off with a remote – rwnj’s with guns of mass destruction can only be turned off with death. Why do they find it so hard to understand?
Sorry Jacqueline – I don’t do twitter – I am too quick to anger and fear I would be tweeting my temper and regretting at leisure
I find it just weird that they love to blame everything except the guns for the violence that is internal to the US.
Great tweet, AMK! This is what’s wrong with the U.S. mainstream media. Campbell Brown is given a megaphone to masquerade as serious journalist and the cable entertainment shows, like Morning Joe, are right there to amplify and spread her BS as if they were based on solid factual information.
What bothers me the most about all this is that the journalistic standard on the national level is so low.
Did any national reporter mention that Ezra favored fellow Harvard alums instead of an actual Vietnam enlisted vet for SecDef?
Did any national reporter mention that today’s affluent male college students can bide their time in internships and graduate school, but honorable young men of SecDef Hagel’s era did not have that luxury?
Here is another one I found- AFL-CIO is sending a petition around right now asking supporters to sign and fight against the Presidents proposed cuts to SS.
Unbelievable!
I am sorry, but as much as the Republucans are fucking up, I just think us Democrats should be doing a lot better.
But, as a whole, we are a flighty bunch, and always take our eye off the ball.
😦
They are only hurting themselves and the party. PBO will not be running again, and we need to stay united so that we can defeat some of these republicans in 2014, and give PBO a congress to work with, instead of causing problems.
Thanks, Jovie, for sharing this. It would be wonderful if President Obama and SoS, John Kerry, could find a way to end this long nightmare and bring peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians. This is a conflict that has gone on for more than 65 years. I think it’s way past time for the youths in Israel and Palestine to be able to enjoy normal lives without the constant threat of war and violence.
Bravo for this great tweet response, AMK! This “idiot” guy thinks governing a diverse country is all about “bumper stickers.” Come to think of it, I am glad that these self-anointed “proud progressives,” like him, didn’t vote for President Obama. As far as I am concerned, this means that the President is not obligated to pay any serious attention to their idiocy.
OMG…Becky!!! GIJoe was sooooooo lame! The only saving grace was seeing The Rock in some serious tight military tees. I know steroids are bad for u, but damn when it comes to The Rock, they do a body good!
For those of you on twitter who are interested in the situation in Korea, consider following @W7VOA (Steve Herman, Voice of America, stationed in Seoul).
Here’s his most recent tweet:
DoD postpones ICBM test launch from California reportedly to avoid exacerbating tension with #DPRK.
On my screen, my post at 7:38 pm EDT on this thread says “awaiting moderation.”
It’s basically a repeat of a comment I made last night, but since it’s about MTP, thought those who might watch MTP tomorrow would be interested (MTP airs ways too early on the east coast for me to try to post tomorrow morning from the west coast).
If MIchigan (i.e. Burke can knock down some early 3’s) then it will be their’s to lose b/c they will open up Syracuse’s 2/3 zone. If not, it will be ugly game that will be low scoring and give the edge to the Cuse.
Hey Bob, does this mean Clinton wants to be President again? Clinton is so full of himself! I think he needs to stop listening to Ed Randell, Howard Fineman and Chris Matthews.
Not happening anniebella. As nathkatun7 indicated, Clinton needs to stop listening to Rendell, Fineman and Matthews. Nothing these three have ever latched on to post 2008 election has turned out to be viable.
The more Fineman, Matthews and Rendell continue to hype Hillary, the more the Clintons have reason to be afraid. Be very afraid. It will not end well for them.
Unfortunately, the Financial Times requires a login, but doesn’t charge for articles until you’ve reached a certain threshold (10 per month?).
It really bothers me that the east coast elite media freely ridicule Jerry Brown as “Gov Moonbeam,” without looking at what he’s done for Oakland (which, yes, still has its problems) and for CA.
He promoted the concept of “spaceship earth” back in the 1970s, and lived frugally during all his terms as Governor.
Other states would do well to elect a Jesuit such as Gov. Brown.
I think the “hypercompetent Joe Biden” is an apt comparison! He’s doing a great job of cleaning up the Republican messes left behind and he’s got energy to spare. Remarkable, really. I wish he could be our governor for another decade.
Joe Biden has always been a true progressive, someone who speaks and acts from the goodness of his heart. I’ve always thought of him as similar to Paul Wellstone. (Didn’t know much about Wellstone until after his tragic death, so please correct me if I’m wrong.)
I don’t trust “Slick Willy” or his wife.
I pray that Biden remains in robust health and is able to continue Barack Obama’s progressive strategy forward beyond 2016.
I totally second that Meta! Jerry Brown cleaned up after Ronald Reagan and he is cleaning up again after Gov. terminator! By the way Meta, although right now I am 100% focused on doing everything I can to help President achieve his policy goals, come 2016 VP Joe Biden will be my #1 choice if he decides to run. On this my mind is made up! I know people will bring up his age, but Jerry Brown, who is four years older than Joe Biden, is demonstrating that age, especially when you are perfectly in good health, does not matter all that much if you are determined to do a good job on behalf of the people.
“Ashton Carter, the current deputy secretary of defense, advocated bombing North Korea seven years ago when he was safely in his bunker at Harvard University.”
Thanks for another great post Lovely Plains! Michelle Obama has been an incredible First Lady who is going to leave a solid legacy of being a transformational FLOTUS.! I don’t care if I piss off the “holier than thou feminists” by saying that, besides her smarts, her accomplishments and her dedication to the country, she is also an incredibly gorgeous lady!
Much obliged nathkatun, I believe the C-Span finally is Feb.18 ’14 w/ FLOTUS….so you are going to have to wait a bit on that one! I watched the one’s on Martha Washington and Abigal Adams..looking forward to Lady Bird Johnson’s down the line as well.
LovelyPlains, Abigail Adams and Eleanor Roosevelt are two of my favorite FLOTUS! Both were incredibly smart and deeply committed to human rights. Abigail Adams was anti-slavery and she actively championed the abolition of slavery in the North. Eleanor Roosevelt was a champion of Civil Rights and the establishment of the United Nations. I have, in my conscious lifetime, known all the First Ladies, from the glamorous Jacqueline Kennedy to the equally glamorous Michelle Obama. But I know of no other First Lady, during my lifetime, who has had as much impact on the country as Michelle Obama has with her campaign to support military families as well as her passion for health and physical fitness. Of course, First Lady Hillary Clinton has gone on to make a name for herself as a Senator, presidential candidate, and Secretary of State. But I just can’t pinpoint what she exactly accomplished while she was first lady to change the country.
Not at all JO! That’s a great tweet! I heard a rumor that the defeated MA senator, Scott Brown, is thinking about challenging Sen. Shaheen in NH. Is there any truth to that? I am sure he doesn’t stand a chance if he does.
Hi there
Congrats Betsy on First!
I was right behind you typing as fast as I could 🙂
🙂
That guy interviewing Burton is a real condescending a**hole!
Totally agree, which is why I could only stomach about five minutes of it.
Me too.
Amen! I’m taking a break after the first 15-minutes and then I’ll continue. Dan Pfeiffer is doing a good job of keeping calm and giving answers that he wants instead of falling for any of the baiting from that horrid interviewer. Congrats, Betsy (a little late!).
vc, just as I was about to comment on the thread, this one popped up!
I’m glad you appeared and I’m happy to know that you enjoyed it and will pass it on to your talented offspring!
Hay guys I go my Vogue April issue. 🙂
I’m so excited I forgot to spell “got” correct.
Phew! I’m glad you have, Annieb, and that you told us because I kept wondering if you would before they moved the stock along.
Anniebella was not going to be denied. She was on a mission.
She always is! Good for her, our President Obama warrior!
Folks wish my Louisville students tons of luck. And the Wichita State Shockers too, of course. Me glued to TV 😆 😆 😆
Good Luck to all the teams.
Will somebody please tap vc on the shoulder and tell her to get over here!
😆 Here I am, GG (after answering one of those telemarketers)!
Hey LP, you are very often ‘first dog’ at sniffing out these interviews – keep it up and thank you. I haven’t watched yet, but I will. 🙂
vc, you finally heard me talking to you from over here 😀
{{{{VC}}}} Still over here chuckling about you ‘gallivanting’, imagine! Hee! 😆
😀 😀
Paster Warren’s son committed suicide…..just it on a ticket-tape CNN and turned on Fox News also had it…..condolences to the Warren family.
Sad news. My condolences also.
Very sad. So sorry for the family.
I see we had a traffic jam – ut and lp both had new threads ready to go.
I bet Chipsticks is loving the fact that we have some great people ready and willing to post up new and interesting Threads – and we are the recipients! 🙂
That is so true … and I think Chips likes the fact that she can sometimes just “visit” the blog and post, like the rest of us merry Obamabots!
Well at least I get to see the Rock in 3D!
What happened to UT’s thread???
It couldn’t happen to a nicer man, unless it was Chuck Todd.
Heh! I agree.
THIS!!!!!!!
My children are in the demo, and they NEVER turn the TV on that early, in fact they don’t watch any news shows on TV. They get their news from the internet. They rarely watch TV at all.

Or Ed Henry.
Eek. 🙂

hahaha
There is nothing “Axe” can’t do!!
Hollywood media violence can be turned off with a remote – rwnj’s with guns of mass destruction can only be turned off with death. Why do they find it so hard to understand?
If anyone has been given a pass on violence – it’s Morning Joke himself, who has yet to explain the dead intern found in his office.
Wow – profound comment! You may want to tweet that back to ol’ Campbell Brown.
Sorry Jacqueline – I don’t do twitter – I am too quick to anger and fear I would be tweeting my temper and regretting at leisure
I find it just weird that they love to blame everything except the guns for the violence that is internal to the US.
Love the tweet. Campbell Brown and Dan Senor are one of the most disgusting couples in the media spotlight. At least Carville is a Democrat.
Campbell Brown is such a “B”.
Yes I mean what you think I mean, I just left “itch” off.
🙂
Bill-
In that movie Green zone with Matt Damon as a SGT, Dan Señor is the guy in charge of Iraq.
Not kidding!
I thought it was paul fucking bremer
Great tweet, AMK! This is what’s wrong with the U.S. mainstream media. Campbell Brown is given a megaphone to masquerade as serious journalist and the cable entertainment shows, like Morning Joe, are right there to amplify and spread her BS as if they were based on solid factual information.
You just sized up both the MSM and the cable entertainment shows PERFECTLY!
Thanks for posting, Hopefruit.
I hope that via Ebert’s generosity, a new generation of unpretentious film critics take his place.
He was so firmly rooted in the midwest, and the east coast elite no doubt dismissed his intellect.
But Ebert was, like our President, true to himself and admirably unbigoted toward everything in his life, whether human or art-related.
He was so generous and kind-hearted, as only progressives can be.
Will miss him dearly.
I posted this last night, but thought I’d repeat myself for those who might be thinking of watching MTP (or who do watch).
One of Ezra Klein’s two preferred candidates for SecDef will be on MTP this Sunday.

“Thanks in part to her hard work, Afghanistan’s security forces are better able to protect their own country.”

And Chris Hayes tweeted this about good ol’ Ezra’s second choice for SecDef this week:

Louisville is struggling right now, down by 11. Maybe they can come back. I see Kevin Ware is at the game.
Good news-

You got a real live chuckle for this one, Amk! Very artistic too, the idiot should be appreciative. 😆
That’ll be another ……
Yeah! Yeah! I know.
You guys are cracking me up tonight!
Well let this fool know that Obama didn’t need his vote. He won anyway.
Because of fools like Klein that is why we have those extreme radical racists Republican Tea Party running the House.
OMG…Becky!!! GIJoe was sooooooo lame! The only saving grace was seeing The Rock in some serious tight military tees. I know steroids are bad for u, but damn when it comes to The Rock, they do a body good!

Hiya, LP, Chips, UTA, or whoever can help.
My comment re: tomorrow’s MTP is awaiting moderation.
Does WP not like the term “neocon?”
For those of you on twitter who are interested in the situation in Korea, consider following @W7VOA (Steve Herman, Voice of America, stationed in Seoul).
Here’s his most recent tweet:

Thank you so much for that info.
I do not see any pending comments Arapaho, I will look….but I typically let Chips determine the pending comments.
Interesting.

It’s basically a repeat of a comment I made last night, but since it’s about MTP, thought those who might watch MTP tomorrow would be interested (MTP airs ways too early on the east coast for me to try to post tomorrow morning from the west coast).
Was it a long post? Sometimes those go automatically into moderation…. I will see if I can find it. If not, apologies.
Yup, it’s pending. One
tootwo many linkys gets you into automatic pending. Keep’em under two.AMK, you’re the best.
I’ll give it another whirl.
Thanks, LP and AMK, for getting back to me!
One tootwo many = your former English teacher would have been so proud of you! 😉 (See stuff like this I get right away, letters/acronyms not to much.)
not to much ? Really ?
😉 😆 😆 Sharp eyes, eh?
As I said, that ruler rap is still giving me nightmares. 🙂
😆 😆 Wish I could give her a hug.
.
.
O ho! I just realized that maybe the rest of us are being asked to pay the sum you didn’t dare ask her.
Why would I ask her to pay me for all the lip I gave her ? 🙂
Evening, raining, peaceful.
Evening, not raining, peaceful.
HERE IN VANCOUVER AS WELL, PAM.
Yet another fine post, LP! Thank you!!
#TrustBarack
Evening Bobf, thanks….you watch any of the Louisville game?
Unfortunately not, LP. Too much stuff happening with our endeavor that I need to stay focused.
#FORWARD
Ahh…I see. Well you are much more disciplined than I am. I am the definition of procrastination. Hope all goes well w/ your mothership.
Louisville came back and won a good and close ball game. Let’s hope the second game be as good.
If MIchigan (i.e. Burke can knock down some early 3’s) then it will be their’s to lose b/c they will open up Syracuse’s 2/3 zone. If not, it will be ugly game that will be low scoring and give the edge to the Cuse.
Excellent game. I was pulling for Wichita but give Louisville credit.
Now there’s a couple of cats who like their comforts and sharing a good book.
our Nomar is just like that kitty; won’t let a person read their book!
this issue was on our news yesterday and was wondering if romneymitt’s name was on the list
Oh, geeze.

Typo corrected … I’ve blocked that idjit long time ago, and don’t want him whining to twitter support … thus # instead of @ … 🙂
Clinton is something else!
Hey Bob, does this mean Clinton wants to be President again? Clinton is so full of himself! I think he needs to stop listening to Ed Randell, Howard Fineman and Chris Matthews.
That is what so scary about electing Hillary if she were to run. Would it be a co-President, would Bill have a oval office too, air force 1 too.
Where President Obama is concerned, yes. Otherwise, no.
Here’s something for fellow Californians:
” Gov. Jerry Brown, who comes off like a hypercompetent Joe Biden/The Dude hybrid.”

Bottom line ….
