I’m still laughing as I think of all the thoughts that would have been going through my head if I had been Jay Carney today observing Ed Henry swan dive onto the fainting couch ….

Who is going to be watching? Hmm? Jake Tapper will get a Rating sinking kindred spirit. 😉

Cable Karma will deliver the News in due time.

Gonna have to disagree with this tweet. The first show has been good so far. Of course he’s going to have some annoying crap as with all cable pundits down the line (seems to be par for the course) but the first show has covered some important issues and the one area I give him credit is that his guests are diverse. Not just white males with the same beltway media driven POV as seen on Sunday shows.

      • April 1, 2013 at 8:57 pm

To be honest UT, I didn’t even watch – I genuinely can’t stand the guy (particularly his Greenwald fetish). But your report sounds good, maybe he’s reacting to the push-back on his PL tendencies? We’ll see.

This is the inaugural week. Suck folks in and then slowly but surely begin the process of undermining the President and instilling doubt in his supporters and/or Democrats. I’ve seen this movie before, and I know how it ends. But I have no objection to folks watching if they fill the show meets their needs.

          • April 1, 2013 at 9:18 pm

Yeah, I’m wary of him too Hopefruit, but I’ll be curious to see if that pushback I mentioned has any impact on him. If he turns the show in to Firebagger TV, well….. but I am encouraged by UT’s summary of tonight’s effort.

Yup – that’s their M.O. absolutely. Suck people in, build up some credibility among the unsuspecting, and then use that credibility to raise “concerns” about President Obama and the Democratic agenda. I don’t have time or patience for that.

            • 32 hopefruit2
              April 1, 2013 at 11:00 pm

You’re exactly right theo…and those “concerns” are typically raised at the most crucial periods, like a few months before midterms, or when the President and/or Dems are trying to pass some very important legislation.

                April 1, 2013 at 11:08 pm

Yup – I could care less if Chris Hayes had come out tonight professing his undying love for President Obama. I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him – he’s shown us who he is. The fact that he brings on right wing loons and other emoprogs to “debate” President Obama’s actions… I’m done with him. As Maya Angelou has said, “when they show you who they are – believe them”. I don’t need to be kicked twice to know it hurts.

        April 1, 2013 at 9:02 pm

They’re not foolish enough to have the inaugural show filled with Obama-bashing or pushing Libertarian/GOP talking points. That will come once they think he’s got a lock on the ratings for that time slot. Mark my word.

            /in the hoiti-est of British voice/ **I** was not amused! 😳
I watched that intently, LP, even replayed a part thinking that black actor never looked like PBO when I saw it last time, so what did they do, splice him in? No it still doesn’t look like him even though they moved that part by quickly. And why do those two keep looking at themselves and R2D2? What’s the point of this trailer? I’m not going to see THAT when you can’t even see the Prez! All of this viewing and muttering ongoing ALL before I saw Maryl’s comment! Humphffff! Didn’t ANY of you let LovelyP know that in my world April Fool’s tricks end at noon? I’ll borrow some of Malia’s gracious kindness THIS TIME and say ‘It’s okay, LovelyPlains, you didn’t know any better’ but ……

Thanks friend but the warning came too late. I have the bad habit most of the time of trying to see what’s offered (IN GOOD FAITH) before checking into the comments. I might have to rethink this approach. 😉

                • April 1, 2013 at 10:02 pm

It’s that ‘good faith’ thing that’ll get you on April 1st, vc. On that day, TRUST NO ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good one, LP! 😀 I see Chips’ suspicious logic has rubbed off onto you. (That used to be her trade-mark way of dealing with my queries when she kept me waiting at the gate in days gone by.)

                    • April 1, 2013 at 10:13 pm

To be honest, I have not heard the noon thing before. After all, there are all those people whom you will not even see before noon. I have to say that I am THE most gullible person alive. In college, a guy I had just met showed up at my home over break. I was so surprised and asked how he had found my house. (I lived on a main street) He said he had started about 3 miles away and just knocked on every 7th door and the last one was mine. I was totally impressed and didn’t find out he had asked my friend until much later, embarrassingly much later.

                      April 1, 2013 at 10:24 pm

Maryl, I like that story. Did you find out after you married him? 😛
‘After all, there are all those people whom you will not even see before noon’ – that’s the idea. You only have to be on guard until noon around those you will see. It worked beautifully for me, because then I was overly suspicious of everything and everyone until noon and then I could relax. Thus it was hard to ‘catch’ me.

    Hahahahahahaha….

Lovely Plains, you’re forgiven for “punking” us because you did post that amazing hour + interview with Jon Favreau on Saturday.

    All is forgiven.

    http://theobamadiary.com/2013/03/30/chat-away-speechwriter-edition/

Agree with all the comments on that thread, including Sara’s that this video ranks up there with Michael Lewis’ similarly long video (which UTAustin posted awhile ago).

Both Michael and Jon seemed so honest about what is apparent to anyone with two eyes and who can view President Obama outside the MSM filter. PBO’s integrity and authenticity.

Loved Favreau’s response to Gergen’s last question about PBO being remote and detached. Favreau laughed and said anyone who says that about PBO obviously DOES NOT KNOW the President. That PBO is warm and caring, which again, is obvious to any sighted person.

        • April 1, 2013 at 9:17 pm

Yes, VCPrez, the moderator was so annoying when he couldn’t bring himself to mention President Obama’s name.

I’m actually sad to see this hosted at Harvard. Most questioners seemed very “ivory tower elite.”

Hope that Favreau appears at a public university (wasn’t Michael Lewis at UCBerkeley?) next time, and with David Plouffe.

          • 66 vcprezofan2
            April 1, 2013 at 9:26 pm

Arapaho, the only thing I ‘liked’ about the moderator (David Gergen of CNN fame) was the way Jon Favreau ‘played’ him just by telling the truth as he lived it for 8 years! Those of us who knew Gergen was a member of the ‘liberal media’ could hear his criticism, but Jon knocked it back every time and seemed to do it unconsciously. 😉 😉 Although, I must say there were a couple of times when Gergen had no choice but to acknowledge the President’s expertise.

Total weird comment from my off the charts farthest to the right of anyone brother just now. Wonders never cease! He actually said Obama is doing an amazing job considering what he is up against. Can you just imagine what this video will mean to that little guy when he grows up. Think of being able to say that one of the greatest presidents ever comforted me when I was only five years old. And I loved the way he just nestled his head on PBO’s shoulder like it was safe and comfortable and the best place to be. Hope he has a bright future ahead of him.

      • April 1, 2013 at 9:56 pm

I would totally nestle my head into PBO’s shoulder, given half a chance, because it IS safe, comfortable, and the best place to be. Michelle might have a word to say, though. On the third hand, I’m no competition for her, more in the granny generation, so maybe she’d be generous

Surprisingly, the strike was not the fault of a programming error. The DSS monitors more than 10,000 specific threat characteristics to determine if an immediate response is necessary. If the system deems that the threat is imminent and that immediate action is vital to protect the nation, it will preemptively launch a strike. “DSS worked the way it was supposed to”, states Chief Engineer Chip Boolean. “Fox hit over 90% of the key threat characteristics created by the Department of Defense.”

Reports also state that DSS has scheduled drone strikes at the estates of conservative pundits Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter over the course of the next few days. There has been no indication from the White House as to whether those attacks have been cancelled.

    Exxon Pipeline Breaks in Arkansas

About this video (from the upload description:

“84,000 gallons of oil leaked nto the Central Arkansas town of Mayflower in Friday, spilling into neighborhoods. Treehugger reports, Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor was one of one the seventeen Democrats that joined all the Republican Senators in voting for symbolic approval of the Keystone XL pipeline. Pryor has claimed the pipeline will help create jobs in Arkansas, where some of the pipe is manufactured, however as Bloomberg reported recently, the project will only create 20 full time jobs, not the thousands that Pryor, TransCanada and other supporters like to talk about… 40 homes had to be evacuated due to health hazards from crude oil fumes and to avoid stray sparks from igniting the standing oil. Emergency management is on the scene evaluating the situation, but this should be a heads up for our politicians. Of course, it won’t be. Meanwhile, Republicans are all about fewer regulations. Drill baby drill.”

I hope that HE DOESN”T approve this mess! Twice in one week, we get stuff like this. The “tons of jobs” is a flat out farce. The US gets NO BENEFIT from this toxic sludge, running through aquafirs, we can already see the effects of leaks….on the neighborhoods, the land, the water, the wildlife…on and on and on….and the oil gets sold on the open market. We harbor ALL THE RISK, and NO BENEFITS. It’s a sucky deal. A big sucky deal! I hope that these accidents this week…makes him absolutely certain that he’ll say NO!

Just don’t be surprised if he does. We also have another problem. Dependent on middle east oil.
