Haaretz: The U.S. president’s speech in Jerusalem redefines what it means to be a centrist in Israel. We deserve a leader like him. For Barack Obama to come to Jerusalem, and speak to Israeli students and talk persuasively of the possibility of a secure and peaceful future, for him to do that and garner a roaring ovation of approval, he would have to have given one hell of a speech.
He did. This was the speech that these young Israelis not only needed but wanted to hear. A speech that radically redefined centrism in Israel, bringing it down to extraordinary common denominators in directions Israelis have learned to think of as diametrically opposed.
He spoke of security and peace as inextricably and necessarily linked, not a narrow choice between options, but a conscious choice for both. They roared.

Obama: Peace Is The Only Path To True Security
Jerusalem Post: Directing his remarks to the primarily young crowd at the International Convention Center in Jerusalem, Obama urged them to push for peace, saying that only when the people demand action do the leaders act. “Peace is necessary. Indeed, it is the only path to true security,” he said, and stressed that the only way to achieve peace is through negotiations. He urged Israelis to shift from relying on defensive practices, such as the border fence and Iron Dome missile defense system, to forging permanent peace by solving the problem once and for all.
“Peace must be made among peoples, not just governments. No one step can change overnight what lies in the hearts and minds of millions. But progress with the Palestinians is a powerful way to begin, while sidelining extremists who thrive on conflict and division,” he said. He also encouraged his listeners to put themselves in the Palestinians’ shoes. “It is not fair that a Palestinian child cannot grow up in a state of her own, and lives with the presence of a foreign army that controls the movements of her parents every single day.

Has Obama Turned A Generation Of Voters Into Lifelong Democrats?
Molly Ball: Paul Ryan had a vision for the youth vote in 2012. In his speech accepting the Republican vice-presidential nomination, the Wisconsin congressman imagined legions of recent college graduates forced to “live out their 20s in their childhood bedrooms, staring up at fading Obama posters and wondering when they can move out and get going with life.” Ryan was sure those kids had recovered from their passing Obama fever and would either stay home or vote Republican. What happened, of course, was very different. The under-30 vote went nearly as strongly for Obama as it had before: Obama got 66 percent of the under-30 vote in 2008 and 60 percent in 2012, the best youth-vote showings for any presidential candidate since 1971, when the voting age was lowered to 18.
“These are voters who are in their formative years, politically,” Joel Benenson, the lead pollster for the Obama campaign, told me excitedly in the days after the election. “People frequently maintain the partisan identity that shapes their entry point into politics. What’s happening now is something people will hang on to for decades to come.” Could Benenson be right? Has Obama turned an entire generation of voters into lifelong Democrats? The answer, according to political scientists who study partisanship, may well be yes.

A Toon or Two:
Howdy
Hi Carol! Congratulations on a Fine First! 🙂
Thank you Miss Dudette from a cowgirl. 😉
I am going to be first, I just know it, feel it in my bones.
Really, really close, Miss P! Well done!
Hmm. Bones are little wobbly?
GOP and most off US media are jokes
You can say THAT again!
GOP and most of US media are jokes
The problem with sitting quietly in a corner with your eyes closed is that you miss when a new thread starts. 🙄 Thank you so much for tapping me on the shoulder, JO’B. You’re a good neighbour. 😛 Now I’ll try to catch up with Utal’s very thorough offerings.
VC, have you been in the last post on your own for the last hour??
So? I was keeping quiet, okay?
I love you vc! 🙂
😳 {{{Dudette}}}
Utal did good. Very, very good! Chips-in-Training, almost! (Can’t quite give away Chips magnificence, of course!)
Yes, Utal has done a very good job! I don’t know what it is about this community (AND the larger Obama family community) but whenever one of the members does well It always seems, to me anyway, like a personal reflection on me. I don’t know why. I find myself puffing out my chest in pride, just like I find my figurative fists coming up when outsiders are needlessly mean or bitingly critical. Really weird, if you ask me.
Oh, there I go rambling again, like I’m making up for my quiet time in the corner. 🙄 All I started out saying was basically ‘Good work, Utal.’ 😛
I’m the queen of rambling, and “yours” was mild. (But I’m glad you’re out of the corner, to take some of the heat off of me!)
Good points, all, VC. We are in this together, for the long haul, with so many others who feel EXACTLY the way we do about President Obama. How lucky is that! No wonder you feel proud.
Incredible day! Thanks for all of the above!!
I concede.
You’re still first in our hearts Miss Pat. 😀
Ah, that’s so sweet. Thanks.
A noble and classy concession. Succinct… elegant really. 🙂
Can’t say that about so many of our politicians these days. Brava Miss P!
What an amazing day!
Bonsoir
It sure was. So proud of the President.

Howdy?
Holy smokes UT, outstanding feast here, thank YOU!
Oh my goodness UT!! I didn’t even look at the byline, was about to congratulate Chips on another excellent post, but it’s YOU!
Way to go, darling! Beautiful job! [hi-five way up high…(thwap!)]
Congrats Carole 😉
UT, Wow, lady you are hitting it off the TODville Village Park.
Brilliant 🙂
Chipsticks, I’m sending you tons and tons and tons of virtual chocolate because you are the freaking best and you know why. Thank you soooooooooooo much for today. 😀
Oi, listen you, after all your work today I’m almost prepared not to wish misery on Chelsea – that’s how awesome you were/are! Endless, endless thanks UT, don’t know what I’d do without you, LovelyPlains and all the blog tyrants! Even Amk.
I also said nice things about Manchester United this morning after I saw what it takes to put together a Rise and Shine thread and now you say nice things about Chelsea?
*Looks out window for flying pigs*
😆
😆 Your reward:
/runs
The horror! The horror! This is what the Boogeyman looks like right? Children BEWARE!
Does anyone else see a resemblance with this good looking fellow and Rand Paul?
😯 Bill! Say sorry to Mr Rooney, right now!
Rand does have more hair on his head, Bill 😀 😀 😀 😀
BOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😯
CHIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀
So good to see you, once again, having so much fun with UT and everyone (though some of those pictures are truly nausea inducing 🙂 )
#FORWARD
Well now, I was about to say “THANK YOOOOOOOOOU BOB”, until I read the “some of those pictures are truly nausea inducing”.
Sheesh, Bob!!!! They’re exquisite!
All in the eye (and stomach) of the beholder, dear Chips …. 😀 😀 😀
Yes I do Bill. He looks exactly like a future descendant of Rand Paul.
Well whatdoyaknow? /close your mouth VC!/ The President talking about peace and security in Israel is having an impact right here in TODville! Chips and Utal are making nice re football. Well! Well! Well! I 😆 is 😆 soooo 😆 happi! 😆 😆
But the peace didn’t last long VC – in fact, I think Israel/Palestine would be easier to fix!
I’m hanging on to my optimism, CC. A spark was lit. There’s hope where I had none before. 😉
As always, I am coming here late after a long day at work. I just wanted to thank you, UT, for the great post and for your selflessness in stepping up to the plate to support Chips. I also want to thank both you and Chips for being true examples of what the President is talking about. It’s so refreshing to see you both put aside your football (soccer) rivalries for the greater good of TOD community.
Congrats Carole and hi TOD. The day is passing at a rapid rate when our POTUS travels.
TY, it went way to fast.
Evening Chips, thanks for the roundup. Congrats Carol.
Thanks LP. UT did a great job tonight.
Excuse me………Thanks for the roundup UT.(you both have similar avatars on WP reader)
The guy on Martin Bashir was Fatwaz Gerges
Very real downer and wacko and pessimist. Could have been @ midesternChuckTodd Martin schooled O’Reilly on why Jesus was put to death. Billo went to Catholic school and doesn’t know it wasn’t for taxes? I don’t think he learned anything.
Here’s a gentle suggestion: Turn off MSNBC! 🙂
wonder how much taxpayer money is spent to travel around mark knoller, chuck todd, and the other propagandists of the white house press corpse when the president travels, and at the white house for that matter, so they can go around making fools of themselves and their employers.
there’s obviously already a process for picking and choosing who is part of the group, and it’s long past time to re-examine those who are there now. they serve no value for society and the democratic republic whatsoever, and in fact are clearly hurting the process. what stories have any of the front-rowers “broken” or what “tough question” has any one of them asked that led to anything?!?
the irony is that president obama shines when asked the toughest questions. when some foreign press person asks some detailed and pointed question about a foreign policy about the other side of the world, president obama can answer in great detail. when a military news person for example asks some tough question about a seeming contradiction in the administration’s policy, president obama is able to walk people through the reasoning in detail and handle follow-ups. when chuck todd asks some moronic question framed as the latest republican talking point which president obama proably already answered 4 different ways, you can see how hard our president has to work not to roll his eyes or say how stupid that question is. these people and their employers have no inherent right to be in that room costing us taxpayer money to advance republican talking points!!! get some real journalists in there who can actually help inform the electorate and hold politiicans accountable!! that’s all we’re asking for.
Tax payers aren’t paying their way.
During the 2012 elections, a few media firms were protesting the amount that Romney was charging them. Their outlets allow the WH travel section to book for them and they pay up is my understanding.
ah, okay about the costs. everything else i mentioned though is still the same.
We pay for it in ways that can’t be measured in money, but in our valuable right to a free press not encumbered by political parties. The fourth estate is there for our benefit. We give network TV & radio air time through the FCC and cable companies get rights to buy in certain markets and lay cable and get an easement on our property or our landlords property.
bingo.
😉
Well said, Carol.
Thanks JO.
I think their employers pay their expenses. There is a charge to fly on the press plane. At this point Chuck Todd and the MSM seem to think he really shined at the presser. That conclusion may well change. PBO always wins in the end.
Zing! I can’t stop laughing!
Chuck Todd has no qualifications. He didn’t graduate from any college; never went to Journalism School.
There are many people right here on TOD that would make a better journalist than this man. Where, when, how and why, the first basic rules of journalism was not taught to this fool. Research, double check and research again; that is what I learned in High School in a third world country.
Trying to ask five questions while trying to shape them as one is not journalism. He is bluffing his way through life and one day it will all come crashing down.
Once again a glaring example of The Peter Principle’s theorem. 😀
Yep. Big time. 🙂
Sheldon Adelson has had a very bad day. How many millions did he throw away to prevent the love-fest that happened this week between PBO and the people of Israel?
All for nothing. There was President Barack Obama receiving an award that No american president ever got before!!!
Ha ha! I’d almost forgotten about that creep! LOL! Hope he’s sitting somewhere in a corner sucking his thumb!
Isn’t he up on charges anyway?
Karma, Indeed!
He also said that increasing the Minimum wage was a great thing.
Yep, along w/ Costco they provide great benefits for their employees as well.
People like Shrill O’reilly, Flush Limbaugh, Crazy Beck, Yawn Hannity, etc. are all going to stroke out trying to demean and diminish my President. Should this happen well…good riddance. That will be a few less haters and besides, there there are sooooo many people who do truly love him and his family.
Shrill, Flush, Crazy, Yawn! I love it. 😆
Great names, Vitaminlover! The creativity of people on TOD is absolutely amazing!
Repost… just cuz
Oh my goodness – what an outstanding thread. Thank you once again UT for another excellent round-up, with such beautiful pictures and articles detailing our President’s wonderful reception in Israel!! 🙂 🙂
Thank you Hopefruit for the Haaretz article. 😀
I think I got it from a TODer off Twitter!! I Don’t recognize the person (@A-ThinkingGirl) unfortunately.
He would not waste a speech like that on the old, evil, and closed minded men with AIPAC who only has one agenda….war.
Cute. Mama doing her thing ;).
I just love babies… any kind of babies! Okay, maybe not baby insects or baby snakes, but pretty much baby everything else.
Great post UT. I have been out of town for a few days. I have a lot of catching up to do.
On the domestic front…..
This makes me sick.
Me too.
It won’t last long. As soon as these mostly white schools see the influx of brown people the city will explode. White parents are gonna start demonstrating against City Hall about “overcrowding” and “quality of education”. Only then will things get real interesting.
Some squeeking wheels are too low in volume unless they’re painted white!
Still sad, but no doubt that’s true. Arghh.
Chicago politics hon.
Up close and personal, Mr. Yardarm. I’m sure you know enough about the goings-on to see how it’ll turn out!
It’s all about leverage.
How do you close schools without providing alternatives for students? Children are required to go to school. Where do they go. They can’t just turn them loose on the streets. This is just unconscionable.
Less schools, more buses.
any video of the dancers? Lovely pics as always guys!
Eh.? This wasn’t a Chips evening round-up post. Well done UT!
Sweet from a far ;).
Wow, I wonder if they were from one Mama Cat?
Dudette in her lair. 😉
I’ve been known to have a tiger or two in my tank. 😉
Wait… what did I just say? 😀 😀 😀
Only Chips can “take back” comments. Ha! 🙂
😉
Brits portray Michelle Obama as queen — of fashion
As a royalist, I love this.
Yes BiBi, Romney did not stand a chance. I am happy you were allowed 2 days in the glow of our beloved POTUS :-). Would love to know how BiBi felt when he saw the reception President Obama received from Israel’s future – the Israeli youth.
That’s cold! :-). Love it!
Brilliance, thy name is Chips!!!!
Thanks for another fine thread, UT!!!
As to Senator Reid’s commitment, made today, to bring AWB, high capacity magazine limits and background checks to a vote, let’s all hold him to it ….
Regarding the crimes of Bush and Cheney, please urge every person with broadcast bandwidth to read this veteran’s letter to Americans and the world …
Yes We Can
Chips, everyone …. not sure how that happened. I was preparing to post the above tweet and had a power surge, so I rebooted and edited the tweet to add the comments and posted it, only to find that the two tweets somehow got posted, above. Sorry for the duplicates!!!
You’re banned from the blog forever Bob! 😆
😀 😀 😀
I see you’re also using your hard earned ‘blog tyrant’ status to also post dueling pictures with Ms Chips!!!
Truly brings a big smile to my face (and I’m sure all TODers) to see you and Chips having so much fun.
LOL! 😀
We love our Bobfr – give someone a little power and they want to rule the world.
Chips, can you imagine Drudge and Mrs Greenspan and MorningJoke and Lumpbaugh and ………
Lot of GOP/TP/MSM crying tonight.
Bibi, too.
Clue to the future: Who was sitting next to John Kerry at the State Dinner/award ceremony today? Yair Lapid, a dynamic left-leaning head of Yesh Atid—the party that came in a very strong second to Bibi’s Likud.
Lapid is now the Finance minister and the education minister and Tzipi Livni, another reasonable person, is in charge of the peace process.
I know, sounds like the high school cafeteria— who sits with who—but I think it is significant and apparently so did Bibi. Anyone else notice how glum he looked once the festivities began? After the cute PBO holding the chair for his wife After that, no more smiles from the Prime Minister
I almost felt bad for Bibi, because he was really wincing when President Obama was thanking and commending President Peres and others, and looked like he was waiting to hear his own name held up, methinks. I was kinda glad that our President did mention him, I think I heard, somewhere near the last paragraph of his remarks.
I’m assuming the key word in your post is ‘almost’ 👿 😆
You got it! 🙂
Chips, I love this photo. You are to funny. I am sure a lot of the MSM jackals need consoling. 🙂 I have not seen any of the so-called tension with Israel creating by the pundits, on this trip. I have really enjoyed seeing PBO on this trip.
Hellooooooo COS! Those ‘Obama hates Israel/Israel hates Obama’ MSM memes are looking a little shaky after this trip!!
Absolutely brilliant! Way to go Chips!
Thanks for this Chips. I’ll use this video over the other one. 😀
Just added it to your post UT, plus some nice Wayne Rooney videos.
OooooOOOooooh….you do that and I’m making sure Mankini Newt hunts you all night.
Okay, I’ll behave, I only added this:
Ewwwwww……. NOOOOOO. Naked Frank Lampard? YES. Naked Eden Hazard? YES. Naked Juan Mata? YES. David Luiz? YES. Naked Azpilicueta? YES. Naked Petr Cech? YES.
Wait…I mean shirtless or naked or shirtless.
What? You mean you find all of them more attractive than, say, the (semi) naked Newcastle fan? 😯
Ewwwww….you are so wrong for this. 😆
Sending you a DM.
Now that’s just WRONG.
Nooo…… I mean this.
This is the horrible aspect of UT being a blog tyrant here – she can now post semi-naked pics of this man.
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Just had this email exchange:
Dear WordPress Support,
Is it possible to allow a blog tyrant post at your blog, without them being able to post semi-naked photos of ancient, overpaid, flabby Chelsea footballers in the comments?
Many thanks,
Chips.
*******
Dear Chips,
Sorry, no, you’re screwed.
Kind regards,
WordPress Supports
PS Blue is the color!
.
Speechless, huh? I know, right?
Yup.
I was just thinking about a certain twist relating to what these past few days have brought us, as President Obama supporters.
Remember how appalled we all were when The History Channel chose to depict “Satan” of their “Bible” series as someone resembling President Obama, to their denials? Now, this week, we see our President Obama with the leaders of Israel and Palestine – all members of different faiths, the three world faiths descending from Abraham.
These leaders were not meeting for religious purposes, per se, but they were in the area of the Holy Land that we know from The Bible. The main catalyst for their getting together was peace. The main character, the center of it all, was the real President Barack Obama.
Sometimes real life is better than what we modern folk might see through our modern technologies, ginned up by movie and serial producers and actors and movie sets, if we only remember to open our eyes and pay attention to the larger details unfolding in the world we share.
Thank you, President Obama, for opening our eyes and our minds and our hearts. (And yet he’s such a humble man! Love him.)
“Sometimes real life is better than what we modern folk might see through our modern technologies, ginned up by movie and serial producers and actors and movie sets, if we only remember to open our eyes and pay attention to the larger details unfolding in the world we share.”
WOW, Jacqueline – that is a mighty powerful and cogent assessment of what we all have the privilege of experiencing. Thank you!!
#TrustBarack He’s Earned It (and our love)
Coming from you, especially, that made me smile. Thanks, Bob.
Well said, job. We, tod’ers are also guilty of getting distracted by the latest ugly object dangled by the third rate corporate press.
Yes. It’s a daily struggle not to get distracted, myself included. But we shall persevere!!!!
And thanks, y’all.
Nice summary JO
Thanks, Carol!
TY JO
Beautiful insight jac! I appreciate that very much!
🙂
you are so right!
Preach sister. Preach!
🙂
Beautiful comment, Jacque O!
Thanks so much!
Check this out. Too Funny ❗
Love it!
The GW Bush and the Clinton part were just too much.
😯 But Lovely coming from a toddler.
Reality – from a world wide viewpoint – that is what many folks remember – about both of them. Civics starts early in some places! I’m imagining all that coming out in grade 1 – oh my – what will the teachers say!
Wow. Nice to have our happy ideas confirmed.
WOW, UT, What a wonderful roundup. I have been very busy these last to days have only been able to lurk. I am total AWE of you wonderful “wantabee blog tyrants”. You have all learned from our Blog Mistress extraodinaire!!!
Our President has made us all proud. I feel so fortunate to live in this time. It’s just so sad we have to put up with the repub haters. They are the losers
The Skinny kid with the funny name 😉
Yeah, Pres Obama 🙂
Good one, job.
Wow, JOB, Bolton looks like the Ghost of Christmas past. Why would anyone invite this bitter and irrelevant old man to give his opinion on anything. He was a joke at the UN and continues to be as totally wrong on every subject as it’s possible to be.
The only thing I disagree with is let’s not ruin Christmas past by comparing him with it! Only the “bitter and irrelevant” would invite his opinion on anything, you are so correct. And, as far as being totally wrong on every subject, well, look who put that jerk at the UN in the first place, to shame us AGAIN in front of the world.
Great pic, Chipsticks! Shimon Peres was fantastic in the way he warmly received President Obama. I am also in awe of him and his stamina. At almost 90 years of age, his mind is still very sharp and his speech very lucid. I really love and deeply respect President Peres!
My President has it going on!
Damn straight! 😀
Hey there, Ms Dudette!
Hey VL! 🙂
Before the visit, the entire set of media clowns, including bbc, were snarkily calling it a ‘charm offensive’. Well, it worked like a charm, didn’t it ?
Sure did, amk!!! And he ignited the youth of Israel and Palestine to be the change they want to be and push their leaders, accordingly.
#TrustBarack
Ha ha! That’s right!
They have always underestimated the extent of the Barack Obama “charm.” What they call charm we know as brilliance, extraordinary presence and charisma, greatness of heart, an unparalleled ability to relate to people and a gift for delivering speeches for the ages. The always inadequate media can’t see past their own prejudices and jealousies so they try to disparage and pigeon-hole as a way of bringing PBO down to their own pathetic size. It’s never worked and never will. He is so much bigger and better than they can imagine.
Yes, Indeed, AMK! Now we can add Israel to the other Foreign countries (Ghana, India, Brazil, Ireland, France, Germany, U.K., Australia, Turkey, Thailand, South Korea and Indonesia) that have warmly welcomed President Obama. I may have missed others.
It’s a good thing that Cannotor and whatever other GOP invitees did not attend on this trip because Kerry and Wasserman-Schultz and possibly even President Obama himself would hurt them. Maybe that’s what they felt.
she is pretty!
… and tall!
And better not forget he’s taken….I’ve seen FLOTUS doing push ups. Just saying…
FLOTUS also said she like kick boxing, just saying.
😆 😆
She is taller than POTUS or maybe it’s the hairdo. Did she ask POTUS to release Jonathan Pollard?
I gotta tell ya’ll that having been in Ethiopia, a long time ago, she ain’t near the prettiest I’ve seen in and from that land. That is not to say she doesn’t still have it going on. I’m just sayin’!
Oooooh, you and your high standards! 😆 I honestly don’t think there are more beautiful people on earth than Ethiopians, Yardarm – a ridiculously sweeping statement, I know, but there are a seriously gorgeous nation of people.
No argument from me on that. Aclose second for me would be the natives of Mindanao in the Philippines.
Sorry, but there are many African countries that can give Ethiopia stiff competition.
Thanks again UT for a great start to the day and although this may not be the end, all the additional pics and stories of PBO’s very successful day in Israel has been a lesson to all in diplomacy. Nice balance of pics, text, and ‘toons. I have been disgusted by reporting from the MSM today. Who needs to point out that the President is tired? Only Chuck Todd!
That was a fitting finale to dubya’s disastrous ‘regime’.
Sad.
Embarrassing.
Humiliating.
Monument to DarthCheney & Neocons
Well, President Obama mentioned his historic address in Cairo.
We will just wait … which heads will roll this time.
Good speech.
Love Bruuuuuuuuuce!!!!
Lurvs me some Bruuuuuuuuuce!!!!
He’s the man!!!
me too … me too!
surprised? wealthy people give less of their income to charities than do poorer people:
‘ One of the most surprising, and perhaps confounding, facts of charity in America is that the people who can least afford to give are the ones who donate the greatest percentage of their income. In 2011, the wealthiest Americans—those with earnings in the top 20 percent—contributed on average 1.3 percent of their income to charity. By comparison, Americans at the base of the income pyramid—those in the bottom 20 percent—donated 3.2 percent of their income. The relative generosity of lower-income Americans is accentuated by the fact that, unlike middle-class and wealthy donors, most of them cannot take advantage of the charitable tax deduction, because they do not itemize deductions on their income-tax returns.
~
Last year, Paul Piff, a psychologist at UC Berkeley, published research that correlated wealth with an increase in unethical behavior: “While having money doesn’t necessarily make anybody anything,” Piff later told New York magazine, “the rich are way more likely to prioritize their own self-interests above the interests of other people.” They are, he continued, “more likely to exhibit characteristics that we would stereotypically associate with, say, assholes.” ‘
http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2013/04/why-the-rich-dont-give/309254/
So glad Can’tor didn’t go! The trip has been quite a triumph, and I’m glad President Obama didn’t have to do any sharing with that jerk!
I am so proud of our president…..He is truly the leader of the world…….
Twitter celebrates its seventh birthday.
Twitter celebrates its seventh birthday on Thursday with 200 million users worldwide, who now send an average of 400 million short messages – or tweets – every day.
///
Now people use Twitter to campaign, share and discuss news, fundraise, propose marriage, challenge authority – and try to catch the eye of teen heart-throb Justin Bieber, who at time of writing has more than 36 million followers.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-21856714
Alycee posted this on an earlier thread – if you didn’t catch it – well worth watching – mainly for the reality of that MSM creating public opinion to suit their republican views – but a quick look at tweety trying to argue “it was something else”
what a great day. Too bad I had to spend it doing life stuff (ie work) while all this great global life stuff was going on in the world and with our leader.
Thanks to everyone for all the updates and tweets. I was able to sneak in for minute at a time and always went back to my work with a huge smile on my face.
Now to work my way through the speeches, award and news conference.
There are just no words for UpChuck. He is a major embarrassment to thinking people and real journalists everywhere.
Can’t help but notice how the media was fawning over this visit at the beginning, unlike any of his other ‘road trips’. I think UpChuck delivered the talking points they were all prepared to bombard us with ie Israel doesn’t like PBO. They’ve amazingly changed the subject….again. L.O.S.E.R.S.
Since I don’t watch TV, I hadn’t seen much of President Obama’s trip to Israel. It is thrilling to read the commentary from the Israeli papers, to know that he was so well received there, that he spoke about the aspirations of the Palestinians to a group of Israelis and was cheered for it. He’s going right to the people, to the youth to be exact, to try to open their minds. I continue to be amazed at the wisdom and character and humanity of our President. We are a lucky people.
OFA wants us to sign petition against Senste GOP trying to gut the EPA and it’s provisions for climate change, as we speak.
Several votes are occurring fight now, in the Senste, to get people on record for climate change provisions.
Please go to the website and help out!
Ty!
looks like I was posting re the same article while you were posting this. Great minds and all that jazz.
I really like this article’s content AND title! 😆 I have detested Netanyahu with a passion ever since he visited US and was IMO less than appreciative of the hospitality he received. Funny enough though while some in the media were opining on Pres O ‘strength’ in being pushed around by Bibi, I have always felt ‘wait and see’. I don’t think this is PBO’s final response to that jerk, only the first steps. Our President is exceptionally honest and confident in his perception of the world and where he wants to guide it while his hand is at the helm.
♥♥♥♥ “Love you, Mr. President!” ♥♥♥♥
“THIS!”
Miss Israel is a stunner. Absolutely gorgeous! I read her story, what a wonderful young woman. To have MLK, Jr. as her hero and to be influenced and inspired by President Obama, she can’t help being an extraordinary woman.
Here’s an interesting tidbit from one of UT’s earlier links. It’s entitled ‘Obama Speech Leaves Israel In No Doubt What He Thinks About Netanyahu” (good title amirite?)
Anyway he’s the interesting part to me:
“The Jerusalem speech also made it clear why, during the reception at the airport the day before, Hatnuah leader Tzipi Livni and Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid received slightly more attention that the other ministers in the endless line of VIPs. Livni has already proved that she is interested in pursuing negotiations with the Palestinians. And while it is still too early to tell where Lapid’s loyalties lie – with the peace process or with his partner on the right, Naftali Bennett – apparently Obama, at least, thinks there might be reason to hope. ” http://bit.ly/Zghwfb
#TrustObama he’s earned it. {{{{{hugs all around & especially for LL & ‘his missus’ and FormallyFredd}}}}}
LunarSea – thank you!!! for posting the link to this very important article …
“Sometimes it takes someone from the outside, like U.S. President Barack Obama, to show up and tell it like it is to the Israelis: You’ve got a wonderful country, you’re wise and just, you suffered and you deserve a state, and as long as the United States exists you’ll never stand alone – but for God’s sake, enough! Stop the settlements, stop the occupation, stop the deportations, stop the ongoing abuse of the Palestinians, and stop the settlers’ violence. Enough.”
Yep!!!!
#TrustBarack … He’s Earned It! (and sending your same kind thoughts to LL & his wife and FormerlyFred)
I’m glad you liked it also. It was really well written.
Should we send it to UpChuck and Addlebrain?
Quick note about the Tom Clements (Colorado Prison Chief) alleged suspect):
“Federal and state authorities, speaking on condition of anonymity, identified the man as Evan Spencer Ebel, 28, a parolee in the Denver metro area. The man was identified as a member of a white supremacist prison gang, the 211s.”

Did Mayer just break up with the singer he was seeing? Forgive me I can’t think of her name right now.
Sorry. Don’t know a thing about his love life. Just like the song.
Alright, you got me curious, so I looked it up. Apparently, it’s Katie Perry. Yep, split.
That’s who it is Katie Perry. I’m not a fan of John Mayer, I saw that on ET about the break-up.
Awesome acoustic version of the same song. Goodness gracious this man can play that gee-tar!
I love how he describes songwriter’s point of view in the beginning.
Gun culture? What gun culture in the U.S.?
Surely this was just an unfortunate accident by a law abiding patriotic citizen wielding a legally acquired gun according to his/her god-given 2nd amendment rights. No need for legislation to prevent this kind of thing. Carry on.
I think Brunswick, GA, is an exit off I-95, and I used to drive through with little grandkids, sometimes. It could be any of us, no matter how young the suspects are who probably borrowed Daddy’s gun!
A guy walks into a bar and sees a gorgeous babe nursing a drink. Walking up behind her he says, “Hi, there, good looking’! How’s it going’?”
She, having already downed a few power drinks, turned around, faced him, looked him straight in the eye and said: “Listen! I screw anybody, any time, anywhere, your place, my place, doesn’t matter to me. I’ve been doing it ever since I got out of college. I just flat-ass love it!”
Eyes now wide with interest, he responded, “No kidding! I’m a lawyer, too! What firm are you with?
Senator Stabenow Amendment to the House 2014 Budget to prevent vouchers from replacing current Medicare benefits now being voted in the Senate.
Only negative votes so far are Cruz and Rand Paul
BTW, Senate has already rejected the House budget plan 40-59.
Stabenow Amendment passes 96-3
So paultard’s curse was vile even for rethugs ?
Crazy Grassley now proposing a ridiculous Amendment that would do major harm to the middle class ….
Senator Murray now calmly rips Grassley and reminds everyone that only a balanced approach is viable and that new revenue is required …
Vote underway
Voting begins again, in the Senate, at 11a EDT, 22 March …
Grassley Amendment defeated 45-54
BTW, 5 of the no votes on the House budget bill were from Republicans …
Grassley’s shit is wiped out 54-45.
Was that the name of the Amendment? Grassley’s Shit? Ha! Glad that a-hole went down in smoke.
