        Carol – It “might” say this!

        “It is a great honor to reaffirm the extraordinary bonds between our two countries. By every measure, from security to our economy, our cooperation has never been greater, and that in part is because of the strong commitments of Prime Minister Netanyahu.

        “May our bonds continue to grow, on behalf of (our) people and prosperity for all people.”

            • March 20, 2013 at 2:16 pm

              Inoright? I love his handwriting. It has a real elegance to it. Also very intriguing watching him write this note.

                I even love the fact he’s a “creative” left-hander!

                What’s not to love about him?

                • March 20, 2013 at 2:19 pm

                  He mentioned to Bibi and his wife – she remarked about him being left-handed – that he was badgered for it in grammar school, told it was a sign of disrespect. He said he would even have his arm slapped. But he didn’t change. LOVE HIM.

                    That old-school ban on being left-handed was prevalent when I was growing up, too, but luckily I was right-handed and nobody smacked me. Well, I got smacked in the face for the first time in eighth grade for “talking to my neighbor,” by our 80-y/o nun (and I’m not kidding about the age). But it didn’t hurt and I almost laughed in her face, tell ya the truth, but she would have smacked me again. Ahhh, memories.

                    LOVE HIM, TOO.

      • March 20, 2013 at 2:08 pm

        Here you go:

        May our bonds continue to grow, on behalf of people and prosperity for all people.

          The part about Netanyahu totally ruined an otherwise decent message!!!
          We all know the truth so there’s no reason to pretend for posterity that Netanyahu has been a positive force in the “extraordinary bonds” between the two countries!!! If anything, Netanyahu has been terrible for both countries!!!
          The message could have held up as well and come off even better, stronger and more believable if the part about Netanyahu was not included!!!

    The Senate has reached a deal that will allow a vote on a measure to keep the government funded and possibly prevent a weekend of work on the budget.

    Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) announced the deal on amendments to the government-funding measure on Wednesday afternoon, ending a stalemate in the Senate that had thrown off the upper chamber’s schedule.

    Votes on several amendments will start at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, and the Senate is expected to approve the funding measure that afternoon. The Senate will then immediately begin considering the Senate Democratic budget.

      Is that why this trip, unlike all others, is getting all this attention from our news media——hoping/expecting more rudeness? Todd seemed to be hopeful about that kind of scenario, setting up a negative atmosphere.
      Or—-were all other foreign trips ignored because they would have shown President Obama receiving an enthusiastic and positive response everywhere he went, and there was an election coming up and didn’t want the American people exposed to this truth?

    […..] America stood by our side from the very beginning. You support us as we rebuild our ancient homeland and as we defend our land. From Holocaust to redemption. From Truman to Obama.

    Mr. President, Wherever you go in our land, you will meet the friendship and warmth of the people of Israel.

    Mr. President, The people of Israel want you to feel at home. So, welcome home Mr. President.

    In general watching Shimon Peres’ feed has been much more informative than the others. More close-ups and continuous sound. Hearing and seeing stuff you wouldn’t on American teevee. Hearing PBO’s main SS agent speak to him was unreal!

  10. March 20, 2013 at 2:22 pm

    […..] The question which some Israelis could ask themselves is: Can we trust him on Iran? Can we take him at his word that when it comes to Iran he has a “no containment policy”?

    Judging by the goals, strategy and success of his Iran policy so far, the answer is: Yes, we can. […..]

    • 75 Lovepolitics2008
      March 20, 2013 at 3:35 pm

      Gosh, I dislike Chuck Todd. But in his response, President Obama is too humble. Mr. President, you haven’t done ANYTHING wrong. You’re just dealing with more difficult circumstances… Israël is more nervous, Iran has gotten stronger BECAUSE the Bush/Cheney’s FOOLISH actions in Iraq. And on and on…

      On a general note… Listening to the press conference, I just have a knot in my stomach. I don’t want to contemplate the consequences of an Israël attacking Iran unilaterally and the USA being forced to go to war to defend them. On the other hand, a nuclear Iran could mean a nuclear arms race in the Middle-East and that could mean a tragic set back for the goal of cleaning the world from nuclear weapons. And we’re talking about potential consequences that could last decades if not a century or two. ANd folks, I just KNOW that this possible nuclear arms race in the Middle-East must keep President Obama awake at night. Much more than a short term war between Israël and Iran. The big question is what is the price President Obama and his team think the world should be forced to pay in order to prevent a nuclear arms race in the Middle-East ?

      • 76 99ts
        March 20, 2013 at 6:58 pm

        There was less bloodshed in the cold war against the USSR – who had nuclear weapons – than in any other post WWII conflict. The issue is not nuclear weapons – despite the war mongers statements. The US media think George W will be avenged if PBO is forced into a war – they so want it to happen. Everyone of them should be sent to Afghanistan.

        As for Todd – little bully boy pretending to be a grownup.

    [Are there two Beasts? This happened before POTUS got to Israel.]

    […..] His black limo, which can hold up to seven people in its bulletproof interior, had ground to a halt on the motorway between Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport and Jerusalem earlier in a dress rehearsal for the Presidential visit.

    The problem, according to Israeli news reports, was that the car had been filled with diesel instead of regular gasoline.

    A local tow-truck company, owned by Moti Matmon, said the US Consulate in Jerusalem called him this morning and asked him to recover the car. Matmon said that the vehicle had broken down after been given the wrong fuel. […..]

      Maybe I’m paranoïd, but there is an INSANE attention to details during these trips. There is an advance team that prepares everything, a team of SS that go there before the President, etc… And they made such a stupid mistake in fueling the president’s limousine ??!! Is it an honest mistake, or someone decided to make trouble, just for the fun of it ??!!

      • 119 Nena20409
        March 20, 2013 at 3:45 pm

        Fueling The beast with a diesel when it gets regular is highly incompetent. No doubt, there will be an investigation by the Secrete Service detail folks and someone is going to be in serious trouble. No doubt about it.

      • 122 theo67
        March 20, 2013 at 4:57 pm

        It makes me nervous, too. The SS are usually so secretive about the security embedded in the Beast – to let it get into the hands of a tow-truck driver must mean that it was heavily guarded during the period of time. I just don’t like the sound of it at all – how did someone get the type of fuel wrong in this case?

      • March 20, 2013 at 7:57 pm

        That fueling errorr was no mistake. If for example the president was in the car and it broke down, would he not have to get out of it to get into another vehecle. “In doing so the engine of the car stalled and the gears locked, giving Princip his opportunity.”

        I am not comfortable with our President in Israel. However no weapon formed against him shall prosper.

      Tapper’s debut ratings were horrible. I think the 400k range and only 87 k in the 18-34 age group. They gave him a bad time slot if they think he will improve their ratings.

        Erin Burnett was just fine when she was a CNBC host. They should have allowed her to do what she did best. Markets and the impact it does after the Dow closes daily, then combined with experts. That should have served her well. But at $3M yearly, well, for 3 yrs, why not. Either way, CNN will pay her.

      NBC and MSNBC make their news all about the GOP.
      Everything, pretty much, is from the point of view that the important news is the GOP/TP/MSM point of view and anything else is of slight, if any, importance.

      Martin Bashir spends way too much time on Repubs. Yes, maybe he is laughing at them, but still it is about GOP.
      Ed, with his endless talk about “righties” fell into the same trap.

      Rachel, ChrisM, Chris Hayes, Steve Kornacki are more subtle—-drones, transparency—anything they can poke POTUS with.

      But in the end I have to conclude that the agenda and all their so-called “news” is not for the benefit of us the American people but only for whoever owns the media.

      Probably you all have figured this out long ago but up until very recently I thought MSNBC was a friend and somewhat trustworthy.
      Uh-uh. No. Sorry.

      can anyone on TOD cheer me up with a brighter perspective?

      We overlook so many things, a smile from a stranger, an act of kindness, an unexpected love. How rich can our world be when we acknowledge them, smile back, give and love unconditionally. I wish for you to open your eyes to that which is unseen as well. Shabbat Shalom.

      Our president is so gracious; so personable. He took time with each person in this long line. He really looked at each, listened to each and had a conversation. He neither hurried, nor slighted anyone. He is remarkable and we and the world are so lucky to have him.

    CNN’s ‘The Lead With Jake Tapper’ Premieres Soft As Jeff Zucker Era Begins

    New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg wished Jake Tapper “good luck with your show” yesterday while appearing on the debut episode of The Lead With Jake Tapper. The new one-hour CNN show looks like it needs it: The premiere of the first new show under new boss Jeff Zucker drew 400,000 total viewers, finishing in third place among cable news shows in its 4 PM ET time slot. That’s less than half of the 1.102 million who watched Fox News Channel’s Your World With Neil Cavuto, and also down from the 479,000 who watched Martin Bashir’s daily show on MSNBC.

    Chuck Todd you have some company when it comes to White House jackals who completely suck this week and every week.

    More of the CRAZY from Arizona:

    Proposed Arizona law would police gender, public restroom use
    PHOENIX – If you think you might need to use a public restroom while you’re out and about, you might want to make sure you have your birth certificate handy.
    A House panel will consider legislation today to make it a crime to enter a public restroom designated for one gender or the other if you are “not legally classified” on your birth certificate as a member of that sex. The measure, SB 1432, also would apply to showers, baths, dressing rooms or locker rooms marked “men” or “women.”

    [From Juanita Jean]:

    Somebody bought the house next to Westboro Baptist Church and painted it rainbow colors.

    “For too long, the Westboro Baptist Church has been targeting the LGBTQ community with messages of hate and discrimination. Often, protesting American soldiers’ funerals and organizations that support equality. This faction preaches extremism in our communities and directly targets our youth. To combat their messages of hate and to support equality and anti-bullying initiatives in schools and in our community, Planting Peace has established the Equality House in Topeka, KS.

    “Located directly across from the Westboro Baptist Church, the House is a symbol of equality, peace, and positive change. The house, which is painted the colors of the Pride flag, will serve as the resource center for all Planting Peace equality and anti-bullying initiatives and will stand as a visual reminder of our commitment, as global citizens, to equality for all.”

    There ya go. That’s how you make a difference in people’s minds. Except the Westboro people, who have no mind.

      yet at wapo, headline reads: ‘israelis lukewarm on president’, and goes on to quote a recent poll from maariv, indicating concerns that pbo is pro-palestine.

      then there’s this: ‘ Another poll published Tuesday in the Jerusalem Post showed that 36 percent of those surveyed considered the Obama administration more pro-Palestinian than pro-Israeli. Twenty-six percent thought the opposite was true, and 26 percent viewed the administration as neutral. ‘ (according to my math, that means 52% do not think pbo is pro-palestine.)

      clearly, the ‘lukewarm’ reception is the story the press was sent to create, and upchuck todd is just doing his part.

    ‘ Fox News host Oliver North revived the discredited claim that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction to justify the American-led invasion of that country 10 years ago.

All the good will that she generated from the people is because of her work as SOS under the Obama administration, not because her name is Clinton – as the MSM wants her to think. In my humble opinion, Bill Clinton won Kentucky and West Virginia in 1992 and 1996 because Ross Perot took votes away from Bush and Dole. Let’s be honest, in 1992, Bill clinton won the presidency with only 43% of the popular vote. And, in 1996, he won with only 49%. The majority of Americans voted against Bill Clinton in both elections, whereas the majority of Americans voted for President Obama both in 2008 and 2012.

          I am in support of Ashley Judd, so if Bill Clinton is sticking his nose into this matter, he need to think twice. Some people might not vote for Hillary because of Bill, instead of getting President Hillary, you would be getting a co- President. And as much as I might like Bill, he had his chance.

          It’s true that in 2008 Hillary won the Democratic primaries in KY and West Virginia by a landslide. But that does not mean that Hillary would have won both states in the general election. In 2008, President Obama won the Democratic primary in South Carolina in a landslide, just as he did in caucuses in Idaho and Utah. Yet, the President lost all those states in the general election.

When you are asked to present your birth certificate not ONCE, but Twice, heck, the 98% that cover this president are the ultimate arbiters of everything Pres Barack Obama. So little about how GOP politicians react to insults – Palin cries – they are picking on me – Boehner just cries – Cantor smirks and starts another conspiracy – Chris Christie loses his temper and tells them to p.o. I could go on – but one thing all republican politicians have in common – they have no class – absolutely none – they are money whores who were never taught to respect other people.

      • March 20, 2013 at 6:58 pm

        All of these “repuglian” clowns are so afraid that they will be featured in an ad during their election. PBO is a true gentleman and he probably knew they would not accept.

    Another from my in-box for some of us. It’s a bit long but sound advice.

    You know. . . time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years. It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams.

    But, here it is… the winter of my life and it catches me by surprise…How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go? I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like.

    But, here it is…my friends are retired and getting gray…they move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me…but, I see the great change…these people are not like the ones that I remember, who were young and vibrant…but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we’d be! Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore… it’s mandatory! ‘Cause if I don’t of my own free will… I just fall asleep where I sit!

    And so…now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!! But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I’m not sure how long it will last…this I do know, that when it’s over on this earth…its over. A new adventure will begin!

    Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn’t done…things I should have done, but didn’t, and, indeed, there are many things I’m happy to have done. It’s all in a lifetime.

    So, if you’re not in your winter yet…let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly! Don’t put things off too long!! Life goes by quickly. Do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether this is your winter or not! You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life…so, live for today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to hear and remember…and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!!

    “Life” is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one.
    BE HAPPY !

    Remember “It is health that is real wealth, and not pieces of gold and silver.

    Life is too short to let even one day
    be frenzied or frazzled or frittered away.

    Life is too short not to take time to do
    the things that will hold the most meaning for you.

    So let yourself float like a leaf on a stream,
    relax with your memories, and let yourself dream.

    Throw out your list that’s impossibly long,
    and dance a few steps to a favorite song.

    Turn off the news and go find someone real
    who’ll listen and talk and affirm what you feel.

    Life is too short and flies by if you let it,
    so choose what you want every day– and go get it.

    ~Your kids are becoming you……but your grandchildren are perfect!
    ~Going out is good.. Coming home is better!
    ~You forget names…. But it’s OK because other people forgot they even knew you!!!
    ~You realize you’re never going to be really good at anything…. especially golf.
    ~The things you used to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really do care that you don’t care to do them anymore.
    ~You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than in bed. It’s called “pre-sleep”.
    ~You miss the days when everything worked with just an “ON” and “OFF” switch..
    ~You tend to use more 4 letter words … “what?”…”when?”… ???
    ~Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it’s not safe to wear it anywhere.
    ~You notice everything they sell in stores is “sleeveless”?!!!
    ~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.
    ~Everybody whispers.
    ~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet…. 2 of which you will never wear.
    ~~~But Old is good in some things: Old Songs, Old movies, and best of all, OLD FRIENDS!!
    Stay well, “OLD FRIEND!” Send this on to other “Old Friends!” and let them smile in AGREEMENT!!! And send to youngsters too, to tell them to “Prepare”!
    It’s Not What You Gather, But What You Scatter That Tells What Kind Of Life You Have Lived.
      That will not change until most of ACA is implemented. In this day in age, misinformation is harder to correct once the negativity sets in. Last, the right an echo machine, assisted by MSM.
      The left are horrible at repeating and drilling information down to the lowest information folks.
      Nice of FLOTUS to visit the military families at the Walter Reed place, she took cookies to the kids, and brought along tickets for the Easter Egg Roll April 1st. She has a heart of gold, our FLOTUS. And that picture of FLOTUS looking at that sweet little baby is so precious. Thanks for that story dotster3.
      I can’t say that I disagree. You stated as I have thought and imagined it.
      I don’t believe this was what the late Tim Russert had in mind when he brought Todd to MSNBC and NBC. Todd had been a rightie head honcho for a periodical in DC, Roll Call or something. He used to a frequent guest at C-SPAN.
    Reverand Al is healthy news. POTUS in Israel and other real news.
    OTOH: on the other hand
    Watched the first 2 minutes of Chris Matthews to find out what Tweety considers news is 1) CPAC ( last week)
    2) GOP autopsy (Monday’s story)
    3) outrage about gun legislation, ok I share that concern and NO mention NONE of PM Netanyahoos gracious and loving welcome to PBO.
    I give up.
    One of the interesting tidbits that was picked up this morning by a hot mic was when Netanyahu was going down the US reception line. PBO introduced him to Ben Rhodes and then mentioned that his brother ran CBS news. Netanyahu said, “that sounds incestuous” to which PBO replied, “you haven’t seen CBS News.”
    • March 20, 2013 at 6:48 pm
      This snipped jumps out:
      “Prior to joining CBS News, Rhodes held senior roles at Bloomberg and at Fox News. At Bloomberg he was head of US Television, responsible for all programming, development, editorial, and newsgathering. He made significant changes in the network’s talent and programming, relaunching the financial news service’s flagship cable channel in 2009.
      Rhodes began his career as a Production Assistant at the newly-launched Fox News Channel in 1996, where he later became Vice President of News. At the network he managed coverage of three presidential elections, wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, hurricanes including Katrina, and was the channel’s Assignment Manager on the news desk the morning of September 11, 2001.”
        He covered all the scandals of the Bush Administration, I see. Was he covering them, or covering up for them?
        • March 20, 2013 at 7:26 pm
          I’m thinking if you’re at Fox News during Katrina and 9/11 and the aftermath, you’re pretty much covering up. But who knows.
          It’s weird since Ben is such a great guy, at the opposite end of the political scale.
    I see Jeff Gauvin is on a mission to get the worst person in the world on twitter banned. This person is so filthy, making the most disgusting anti-Obama, anti-black comments I have ever read. If anyone should be banned, it is this repulsive person. This gross lowlife needs to go.
    Maybe this is what W. was doing at the WH—–when he got back from his bike ride—-sneaking away to a secret art room. As someone noted, sure would have been nice if he would have skipped the presidentin’ thing and just gone right into producing these artistic masterpieces. And speaking of—-I’ve seen better on jr. high art classroom walls. And if this is supposed to represent real talent as his Fl. art teacher claimed, well, I would put my pre-adolescence horse head paintings against them any day. You should have seen them! Bridles and cute perky ears and big soulful eyes and everything! And —–re. W’s latest release, what is that lower left depiction? Bedroom slippers? Mushrooms?
      This is what folks do when they retire – they find an art teacher who convinces them they are a Rembrandt waiting to be found – and the relatives get all the pictures & know not what to do with them – I even have the pictures painted by the art teacher – for which the relatives paid a small fortune & they have NO value whatsoever – someone might use the frame.
      George W should have spent his days working at the local plastics factory – that is what he probably could have excelled at – taken way beyond his level of competency I have no doubt he is probably very happy painting pet pictures & he is probably making his art teacher rich – because the later says he has great talent.
        The cat painting looks alot like my cat. These are alot better than the self portraits. One of the comments indicated that W might me suffering from dementia……serves him right.
    Bo will go into work as a therapy dog when the Presidents term is over. He was with FLOTUS when she went to visit children today at the housing for military families with loved ones in Walter Reed.
