So Chips….. your boy Keane got a goal yesterday….. and according to some Chicago fans, “Mike Magee can hopefully be prosecuted under the Violence Against Women Act for what he’s doing to us….” (hat trick!) It was a good opening to the season!

Ok, so PBO’s new nominee for Energy Secretary has the SAME.FREAKING.HAIRDO that my oldest brother had in the 70s. When, you know, he still had hair.

I am not a fan of SDO. She made the statement she was not going to retire as long as a Democrat was the President (talking about President Clinton). She is just as political as the current five conservative SCOTUS.

Speaking of the Atlantic Wire – on Feb 14, they had the audacity to put up an article about the First Daughter going on a “Valentines'” date based on some vague comment PBO had made in a speech earlier that week, and they imagined four possibilities (you won’t believe this nonsense).

    1. Rick Santorum’s son
    2. John Edward’s son
    3. Finn (from the show “Homeland”)
    4. A “nice boy” from Sidwell Friends School .

    Really, Atlantic Wire, WTF ?!?!?!?

Because everyone wants to be President Obama, and they want to have his family, I guess. That’s the only “sane” reason, although that greenish shade of envy doesn’t look very good on them. At all.

I feel like a missed a lot here…reading to play catch up. WTF is Marsha Blackburn doing running around the halls of Congress??? TN…boot her sorry ass out! SHE pissed me off today, too!

  7. March 4, 2013 at 8:32 pm

So, because I’m on Van Morrison kick, I’m listening to “Astral Weeks” right now. Not to sound like an old curmudgeon (shut up, UT), but they really don’t make music like that any more.

    • March 4, 2013 at 8:34 pm

Ah, one of the greatest … I honestly can’t listen to Cyprus Avenue and Madame George without feeling faint. Masterpieces!

    • March 4, 2013 at 8:41 pm

Too right, LL, that was when music and the whole idea of music was all about CHANGE! and Moving Forward, and seeing the world through a different lens than anything previous to the time….. (Beatles really, wasn’t it…) and were we not the lucky ones to be shaped by all that!?

      • March 4, 2013 at 8:49 pm

Now, this isn’t to say there isn’t good music being made now. I grew up on U2 and Elvis Costello and, of course, Springsteen. To be honest, the Internet makes good music able to be created outside of the studio system. But you have to look for it. And few bands approach the sheer ambition of works like “Astral Weeks”.

I’m also a big proponent of contemporary classical music. My computer is often on Q2, WQXR’s contemporary classical music stream. Lots of good stuff on there.

Well, it’s nice to see Politifact get something right, but – and maybe this is verrrrrrrrrrry picky – their headline annoyed me:

‘House Speaker John Boehner says Obama, Democrats have no plan to replace sequester’

Why does Boehner get his title, but ‘Obama’ doesn’t?

    Why not:

‘House Speaker John Boehner says President, Democrats have no plan to replace sequester’?

This kind of thing seriously pisses me off every time.

    • March 4, 2013 at 8:52 pm

Because they are All very rude and bad-mannered people, Chipsticks, with no sense of what is correct.

      • 80 99ts
        March 4, 2013 at 8:58 pm

Does it relate to the new print media “rules” that were introduced because it wasn’t fair that PBO had a better title than Romney (who I can just not respect with any title).

Or could it be that everyone knows the title of “Obama” but it is necessary to remind people why Boehner even has a voice in the discussion. In my world I don’t think anyone I know has a clue as to Boehner – in fact most cannot work out why the President does not have the support of congress – weird politics.

        • March 4, 2013 at 9:18 pm

Good questions, 99ts.. I feel it is purely the juvenile nature of the people in question; we all know how thinking people the world over recognize the incredible leader President Obama is, and how right is it for him to be a world influence. These others, mental midgets, emotionally deranged, simply cannot allow themselves to recognize what the rest of the world sees. It must be a form of mental illness, because it is driving them to do incredibly stupid and irresponsible things which are hurting many people.

            March 4, 2013 at 10:10 pm

In my opinion the media simply disrespects President Obama because of who he is. I saw a headline in a local paper which read: “President Clinton comes out strongly for Obama at the Democratic Convention.” A former President is addressed properly, but not the sitting President.

            • March 4, 2013 at 10:13 pm

Sadly, nath, I know you are correct in this.

How insane they are – then again President Clinton was a white guy – they hated him for 8 years – and now they love him!

              • 85 nathkatun7
                March 4, 2013 at 11:29 pm

You are right 99ts. The Republicans hated President Clinton and tried to remove him from office using every means. They finally fixated on his infidelity and twisted that into “a high crime and misdemeanor” that justified impeachment. My quarrel, however, is with the U.S. media. Even when President Clinton was being harassed by Republicans, the media still respected the office of the Presidency by referring to him as President Clinton and not just Clinton. It’s the media’s routine disrespect of President Obama by refusing to refer to him by his title that is so blatantly reprehensible.

By the way, I am amused by the hypocrisy of Republicans who hated President Clinton when he was in office, but are now so much in love with him. That includes people like Linsey Graham and Newt Gingrich, who voted to impeach him; and John McCain who voted in the Senate to convict him and remove him from office.

I agree. I see it all the time. It really makes me mad. He is the twice elected President of The United States of America. Give him the respect he has earned and deserves.
I mean we are supposed to swallow the notion that Boehner is pronounced baner. Yea right. No way.

      • March 4, 2013 at 10:06 pm

I know, I don’t speak all languages, but I did teach English for a long time, and I do not know of any dipthong ‘oe’ which is pronounced ‘a’. I have always held the suspicion he chooses to pronounce it that way, and in school he was Always called Boner. Because he is, a boner.

Doctors are confident she’ll recover. There is one more operation in her future, but she is proving to be one tough and absolutely indomitable lady. However, there is a real need for highly skilled and well-educated men and women from other lands, since Republicans don’t really want us to educate our own children in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math – in particular – since they’re “Liberal Arts” to them, I guess. LOSING WITH LATINOS: WILL JEB BUSH REALLY TAKE IMMIGRATION CUES FROM MITT ROMNEY?

    by Pili Tobar on 03/04/2013

    ———————————

Despite the growing number of Republicans supporting immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship, we know that some GOP holdouts still don’t get it regarding good immigration policy, politics, and the GOP rebranding effort to Latino voters. However, we never thought we’d have to count former Florida Governor Jeb Bush in that camp.
    .
    .
As Frank Sharry, Executive Director of America’s Voice said:

If he stays with this new, ‘let them be workers but not citizens’ stance, it will be a political blunder of huge proportions. At a time when voters are looking for steady, principled leaders and Republicans are supporting citizenship in greater numbers, this should be Jeb Bush’s moment. Yet his disturbing flip-flop on immigration citizenship and tack to the right ahead of a potential presidential primary suggests that he’s misread the moment. By endorsing the failed concept of a permanent underclass for a mostly Latino group of workers, Bush will put a ceiling on potential Latino voter support. Let’s hope he clarifies his position in the coming hours to show that he will be a proponent of reform with citizenship in 2013 and not an obstacle.

    ———————————————-

    http://americasvoiceonline.org/blog/losing-with-latinos-will-jeb-bush-really-take-immigration-cues-from-mitt-romney-2/

2 options, click on Pamela, or Lovelyplains now, and reply from just there. Then you dont even have to refresh the TOD page. Another option is go to WordPress login page, click reader. You will see the same Orange symbol for new messages. It will give you an option to view all at the bottom. Then you can reply to people from 2 days ago or even 2 posts ago, never having to load the TOD page. Makes it easy if you are multi-tasking. You can do it w/ the last 9 replies when you are on TOD, but sometimes the button wont work, or stay grey even if you have new replies. I use the reader option in the morning on the WP page, for anybody I missed from the night. Then load “rise and shine” Got any more questions….let me know.

It will load the exact post no matter which thread it was from, and it will go to the exact spot on that thread. The President should just ignore them when it cones to any of this cutting spending or else. If they don’t pass finding bills, it’s on them.
Meanwhile, he should just push his priorities, and so should Reid. That includes immigration, gun control, minimum wage increase, etc.
It’s the only way to discipline children, ignore them.

Great post on Angry Black Lady:

“And there was a time when Chicago’s good will seemed to be spread far and wide. From the Bears’ incredible 1985 season (culminating in a 46-10 win in Super Bowl XX, at the time, the most lopsided in NFL history), to Rich Daley’s impressive revitalization of the city through the 1990s, we entered the 21st century on a high note. Everybody seemed to love us…(snip)

“All the sudden, Chicago was the city they loved to hate. All the sudden, Chicago was inhabited by thugs and gang-bangers and welfare cheats. Chicago was the city of Bill Ayers and Saul Alinsky, not the city of Bill Veeck and Saul Bellow. Chicago was no longer defined by the architecture of Louis Sullivan and Mies van der Rohe, by the University of Chicago, the Chicago Symphony, or the Art Institute of Chicago, but by its murder rate and the number of its politicians who went to jail.

All because Barack Hussein Obama launched his career here, rising from community organizer, to state senator, to United States Senator, to President of the United States.”

Amazing! Back in 2010, I asked this guy who hated President Obama so much to tell me what exactly the President had done to him that that affected his livelihood or the livelihood of his family and the the people he knew. He really could not come up with a coherent specific answer. His whole hatred was based on his belief that the President was a socialist radical who hates America, and who, in the future, secretary planned to destroy the country because. Right there and then, I realized how hopeless and unproductive it was trying to have a sane and rational conversation with this person, who based his hatred of President Obama, not on what the President had done, but on what he believed the President was secretly planning to do in the future.

All of which the person either heard on FOX or heard from another person who heard it on FOX. Totally time to walk away when we hear those types of comments … they are unreachable, as you said. It’s worse than talking to a wall, because walls don’t talk back!

          March 5, 2013 at 2:00 am

You are exactly right, JO! I really sympathize with President Obama because he is trying his best to negotiate with similar minded people who are now exercising so much power in Congress. These people are not interested in having a sane conversation with the President and trying to reach sane compromises that may not be 100% satisfactory to either the Democrats or the Republicans, but may, nonetheless, be able to move the country FORWARD. The bottom line for these right wingers, like the guy I talked to in 2010, is to make sure that President Obama is no longer the President. PERIOD! End of story. As long as he is President they are determined to make his life miserable by making the country ungovernable. They hate President Obama so much that they don’t really care about destroying the country in order to tannish his legacy.

I’m sure you feel the same as I do … I will never understand this phenomenon we’re experiencing, to my dying day … how anybody could waste their time and effort feeling those thoughts and taking those actions. Not only because of one man, but, in particular, this wonderful man who is our President.

nath – In the bar at the top of the thread, on the right hand side, just to the left of your screen name, there should be a dialogue box which will light up to notify you that someone has responded to your comment(s). Then you click on the orange box and it’ll tell you who made a reply and you can click to see the reply (you can also click “your comment” in the box that opens and it’ll bring you directly to your comment on the thread and the reply, if you’ve forgotten the comment or prefer doing it that way, rather than working in the tiny opened box). Anyway, that’s what I do. Hope that helps.

Well, MSNBC had his a hired gun to undermine Krugman. Granted, Krugman didn’t do as well as I thought he would, he made some mistakes, but he win that debate last night.
But, Jeffrey Sachs tears into Krugman, even though he agrees with stimulus spending.
This is stunning, Sachs says yes to stimulus and cutting spending at the same time.
Do they even know how stupid they sound? 🙂

So now that the 2016 Presidential prospects for GOP dream boy Marco Rubio look increasingly unlikely, the GOP & Media have turned to Jeb Bush for a new round of pimping.

My word of advice to Jeb: Be afraid, be very afraid.

Believe you me, no more Bushes. We have had enough of them. Jeb Bush sign into law that terrible “Stand your ground law in Florida. Now you have seen where Jeb have changed his stance on Immigration just to please the right wing haters. No more Bushes. American and the world is still trying to recover from the older dope of a brother of his.

Don’t forget the young girl in a coma in Florida. The rethugs all flew back to D.C. to pass an unconstitutional law that W flew to Texas to sign. I’m sorry I forget the young woman’s name. That was embarrassing.

Good Morning….Not going to be around to participate but would like to start a discussion(and read later)….there is something bugging me and I can’t quite put my finger on it….and I don’t really know how to express it but here is my attempt…….there is something “different” in PBO’s and administration “handlers” “fact checkers” “message crafters” “advisors” or whoever….there have been too many hiccups lately…across the board…Now don’t slam me when I say this, it’s just so unusual that it disturbs me….I’m not blaming this on PBO but on whoever is handling his information…same with Arne Duncan…and now OFA….I also think Michelle is being over exposed…don’t get me wrong I adore seeing her but if every time the average citizen cuts the tv on and sees Michelle(in one week) they stop paying attention….Don’t tell me this is a long range plan or I’m not seeing the forest for the trees……this is different but I don’t know what or how…..What’s bothering me??????? His approval rating is slipping and R’s rising WHY?????

I’m not going to get on your case, but I will say that I disagree with you. If what you say is true, all it shows is POTUS and his administration is not perfect. Where is POTUS approval rating slipping, I have not seen it, nor have I seen the approval ratings of the Republicans rising. Please show me where you have seen that. As far as too much FLOTUS, I disagree there too. Usually you only see FLOTUS when she have a project she is pushing. It’s the third year Anniversary of “Let’s Move”.If you had something you are trying to get attention to it, what do you do? Hide or appear on tv. She is talking about her “Let’s Move” program. And anyone who don’t want to see FLOTUS, don’t watch her. As for those of us who enjoy seeing her, I’m going to enjoy it because 2017 will be hear before you know it. I got so dam piss off with the big deal the right and others made about her appearing on the Oscars. If they ask her to announce the winner, and she wanted to do it, I’m glad she did it. And whatever show she will be appearing on next, I will do my best to watch her.

    • March 5, 2013 at 10:30 am

What channel do you watch? I never see FLOTUS unless I search for her here or on YouTube.

I saw FLOTUS on GMA, Dr. Oz., they comes on channel 12 ABC. Jimmy Fallon, channel 7 NBC, CBS Morning news channel 9.
