Don’t worry, that will certainly happen. This is what hypocrites do so well. I am still in unbelief that Congress is in ers session.
I am praying when they come back their paychecks reflect minimum wage earnings. Why are they getting paid to do nothing? We just started a new year and they are out! And the ones who did not show up for the SOTU speech would not get paid for that day at all. Am I the only one who is sick and tired of the lazy asses. They strut around as if they are making a difference while they are obstructing justice because they are cowards.
Yes, I do make my weekly calls to my constituents. But enough is enough!
“Am I the only one who is sick and tired of the lazy asses?” — Hell No!
“They strut around as if they are making a difference while they are obstructing justice because they are cowards.” – THIS!!
James Inhofe of Oklahoma, the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee
John Cornyn (Texas)
Lindsey Graham (S.C.)
Roger Wicker (Miss.)
David Vitter (La.)
Ted Cruz (Texas)
Mike Lee (Utah)
Pat Toomey (Pa.)
Marco Rubio (Fla.)
Dan Coats (Ind.)
Ron Johnson (Wis.)
James Risch (Idaho)
Tom Coburn (Okla.)
John Barrasso (Wyo.)
Tim Scott (S.C.).
THIS AND THIS!!!!!!! As and AA, I am wondering why Tim Scott as a so-called evangelical black man voted no on the Violence Against Women Act. I would like to think that his mother taught him better than that. A little OT, but I just had to get that off my chest. 🙂
What a list of horrors! Inhofe is one of my Senators…..yeck! He is all over the newspaper complaining because Tinker AFB is going to get hit due to the sequester. He should’ve thought about that two years ago. He wants money ONLY for defense. He is in the pocket of who knows how many defense contractors. He is an evil person, and so are the other 14 people. This is shameful.
I agree with you, Meta. His fellow oklahoman, Tom Coburn, is not that much better. Something happened to Oklahoma because I still remember the days when tOklahomans elected progressive Senators like Fred Harris.
It was all part of the 2010 mania and the furor over Specter. Joe Sestak came very, very close to beating Toomey despite all the Koch-tainted money that poured into the Republican campaign. As I’ve said before, I’m hoping that our wonder AG, Kathleen Kane, continues to do such a terrific job that she kicks Toomey to the curb in 2016. He is WAY too radical for a moderate state like PA.
I can’t believe the Secret Service did not charge these cops for their threatening action against President Obama and Michelle while assigned to protect them. A must read.
Whistleblower fired for revealing cops threatened Obama while protecting himbit.ly/11YhSir— Ray Lawson (@Lawsonbulk) February 21, 2013
You can’t really tell the truth from one report/video clip, but this story reminded me of the recent story about that ex-CA cop who went on a shooting rampage. It past sad when you cannot completely trust those who are supposed to protect you.
NP LL, I actually had you and Bob4r in mind when I posted this. AL-Monitor has some of the best ME reporting in the business (espeicallly @lrozen) and may I suggest http://www.enduringamerica.com/ as another impeccable source, it has the indy-on-the ground gritty stuff/videos.
I am elated to see him show these ungrateful fools that he is tired and has no more time for them to distort and mess with his progress of his presidency. These people really do not know President Barack Obama. Let them keep messing with him. Look out folks. Our president is not playing.HZ
I totally agree with you, HZ! My President warned them that he does not allow any one to try to take advantage of him, but they refused to listen. They mistook his niceness to be a weakness. Now look who is crying?
A couple of retweets on his twitter 30 min ago – he has some long meeting days – might be one of those days – he has 6478 followers – tweeter exraordinaire
Well, the only fun in that cartoon for me is that the author of the book “Barack Obama Is Your New Bicycle” can now write a second book, “Barack Obama Is Your Tugboat.” And he is! So glad he’s our President!
“All 15 of the signatories to this appeal to bipartisanship are Republicans. They include some of the dimmest lights in the entire chandelier. (Inhofe. Wisconsin Johnson, Tailgunner Ted Cruz, and reformed ‘ho-monger Dave Vitter all signing the same letter? If there were a market for Empty Suit memorabilia, this would be the Mickey Mantle rookie card of the form.) Of course, the number of signatories jumps to 25 if you count all the phantoms hiding under Lindsey Graham’s divan. Many of whom appear to speak to him in Farsi.”
I no like Sullivan – his life interest is Sullivan. Glad he has gone behind a paywall so less people see his posturing and tweet about it. The rest are the good guys
“I hear these doofi also wrote quite the letter to Santa Claus, requesting, inter alia, the overturning of the last Presidential election, a new Constitutional amendment guaranteeing majority power to the Republican party, and a pony”.
Hope this does not offend anyone…
AMK…:)
An elderly couple, who were both widowed, had been going out with each other for a long time. Urged on by their friends, they decided it was finally time to get married.
Before the wedding, they went out to dinner and had a long conversation regarding how their marriage might work. They discussed finances, living arrangements and so on. Finally, the old gentleman decided it was time to broach the subject of their physical relationship.
‘How do you feel about sex?’ he asked, rather tentatively.
‘I would like it infrequently’ she replied.
The old gentleman sat quietly for a moment, leaned over towards her and whispered –
Marlz was smart enough to avoid using a dash, like you did in “re-think,” because that would have been quite explicit. But you know mischievous old-timers here recognized the pun right away.
“I can tell you right now you need some straight talk. That assault weapons ban will not pass the Congress of the United States,” said Sen. McCain.
McCain said his plan to deal with mass shootings would protect Second Amendment rights.
Annibella, he IS a disgrace!
The bs about the Second Amendment is just that, bs.
What sane person would say that after all this mother has gone through?
Some view the Second Amendment as a “Golden Rule” or “Ten Commandment”.
Bravo, Bravo, 99ts and Dudette! These mfs need to be constantly exposed. They are really evil people with no human sympathy. Even in the wild west, guns were routinely regulated.
Hello bobfr – you have been missed – checking your tweets – what an amazing collection of followers you have
I am intrigued that the only GOPers sighted recently are Boehner talking twaddle, McCain explaining the 2nd amendment is more important than our children’s lives and the usual suspects writing pointless letters to President Obama. Where is Cantor amid the drama – looking to short the markets? Smiling his way to bring down Boehner? Something happening behind closed doors with that lot – or am I just paranoid about them?
Hi 99,
Am overwhelmed by my ‘day job’ which is more like 24×7 as we build our endeavor.
Thank you for asking!!
As to the GOP insurgents – some likely all know they’re in deep trouble the others are so totally delusional they will just awaken one day in the wilderness and have no idea why 🙂
#FORWARD
Being my day job is the cooking and the cleaning – things sometimes fall into disrepair & then I am in trouble. I thought you were probably at the “meetings” & burning candles from both ends when amk queried that you were missed.
For some reason Cantor bothers me the most. Boehner will cry and give up – Cantor just smiles at people’s misery.
can’t-er is up to his usual — i won’t quote much here, but this is today’s cowpie:
‘Cantor said in a statement that the cuts set to go into effect on March 1 – which he agreed were neither smart nor fair – would only be implemented because Democrats refuse to restrain federal spending.’
G’day susanne – now why does the aloha sound so much more musical than the oz “g’day” – mmmm – not to worry, maybe I can move across the pacific – thank you for proving that the hill has little worthwhile to offer the conversation. Cantor just loves to cause other people grief – I don’t like him or his attitude or his policies at all. If it is good for Cantor – it is bad for the USA.
I am reminded of an amazing discovery that I happened upon years ago………There is an insect, wasp I think, that will lay it’s eggs inside the body of a living host. It is usually another large insect like a caterpillar. The eggs grow and feed off of that caterpillar until it dies. Then the eggs hatch and the little ones leave “their nest”.
I can’t help but see the similarity between the parasite and the rethugs. And the end result.
Sometimes I miss those days – my mother told me NEVER to go out with a man who was unwilling to meet your parents and/or did not open the car door for women. Then again, I bought my own car & left home – so life changed.
My 18-y/o granddaughter was at her boyfriend’s house to meet his parents, shortly after they started dating a year and a half ago. When they left their house, his mother called to him, “Open that car door for her right now!” Fingers crossed he stays around!
I was brought up in a small country town where most of the girls were married and/or pregnant by the time they reached 18. Consequently, despite the advances for women in the equality stakes things were as they were in terms of “women are the weaker sex” – so the men opened the car doors & stood back at the bus stop.
I moved to the city c. 1967 and was literally flattened at the railway station because I foolishly assumed the men would wait while the women boarded. They literally crushed me underfoot. So I learned that fighting for one’s rights had lots of unanticipated side effects.
A businessman enters a tavern, sits down at the bar, and orders a double martini on the rocks.
After he finishes the drink, he peeks inside his shirt pocket, then orders another double martini.
After he finishes that it, he again peeks inside his shirt pocket and orders another one.
The bartender says: “Look, buddy, I’ll bring you martinis all night long – but you got to tell me why you look inside your shirt pocket before you order a refill.”
The man replies: “I’m peeking at a photo of my wife. When she starts to look good, I will know it’s time to go home!”
“In black communities, there was a distinct awareness of the situation: if white folks are willing to hand over the country to a black man, then we must really be in bad shape.”
And how true is that – wonder how many of those white folks wanted to blame the black guy for every failing ever to happen in the USA.
my subject – contraception – amazing that the pill was invented – by a man – who cared that women gave 30 years of their life to reproduction. gopers cry because women don’t give 30 years of their life to reproduction.
Well said, Yardarm! It seems obvious to me that humans are capable of both progress and regress. One thing that’s been so hard for me to understand is why people of my generation, who were so excited about going to the moon, are the ones who are now subscribing to regressive ideas.
It’s simple to me. Entitlement and privilege are eroding. Showing up and talking loud and barking orders will get you nothing anymore. That’s frightening to some.
D Angelo w/ David Sanborn & Friends cover Bill Withers “Use Me ”
Impressive list of friends, by the way: Eric Clapton, Dean Brown, Marcus Miller, David Sanborn, Cliff Richard, Steve Gadd, Don Alias, Gene Lake
I want this supergroup right here to play at my funeral. In fact, this is the song I want them to play. Just play it on a boombox, if they’re not available.
ah, marcus miller! a drummer he’s played with, ronald bruner jr, who i had a chance to hang out with after a show a while ago, was just named as the new drummer for prince’s upcoming tour. i’m going to have to go see one of those shows with this guy drumming for prince (another clip i’ve seen it looks like bruner is wearing an obama shirt, so he’s smart too!):
i know. can you imagine him with prince as his choir master?!? wow, those are going to be some amazing shows! he was really cool too the few minutes we talked.
I was just going to write “Does everybody else count the women first, now, like I do?” Ha! Maybe President Obama has women actors on standby to play those parts. Not. He’s not the one with the “women problem.”
I have a suspicion that EVERY meeting photo released since the WHPC started the “no women” meme has included one or more ladies. We all instantly look to check – to answer jacqueline below.
Yeah, but only four. There are 9 men (7 visible, 1 invisible, plus POTUS). Big news — appears no dwarfs, no giants, no polka dots, nor zebras! Why does POTUS discriminate against dwarfs, giants, dots & strips folks????
POTUS’s left new Sec of the Cabinet, Chief Legal Counsel, Valerie Jarret, and new Com Dir. Jen Palmeri. But the most pressing question is WHY? and let me re-iterate WHY? is Clint Eastwood involved in this high-level meeting….I want answers, pronto!
not really. he’s long been a republican shill. he just likes to try to be funny and sarcastic sometimes, so he’ll make jokes about republicans too, but when push comes to shove, he’ll toe the republican party line every time.
i wrote to my elected reps to express my strong support for gun control measures, specifically the president’s plan. i got two letters back, one from senator maizie hirono, and one from rep tulsi gabbard, both confirming their support for the president and gun control. here’ a bit from tulsi’s:
‘ As a Soldier and Military Police Officer, I have received extensive training and have significant experience in handling a variety of firearms. Having firsthand knowledge of the impact of these weapons, and the devastation they can cause, I do not see any role for military-style assault weapons on our streets and in our communities. This is why I support reinstating the assault weapons ban, and a ban on high-capacity clips holding more than 10 rounds. These provisions replicate the protections that we have already in place in Hawai`i, and which have played a role in our state having the lowest firearm-related homicide rate in the country.
There are other policy changes that should occur- this includes increasing school security, shoring up our mental healthcare system, closing the gun show loophole, and requiring background checks on all persons wanting to purchase a gun. These are practical steps that both the public and gun owners have recognized as necessary to keep firearms out of the hands of those who should not own or use one.
I support the Second Amendment and our constitutional right to bear arms. In Hawai`i, we have a rich tradition of hunting, and some of our families rely on it not only for food, but for their livelihood. These responsible gun owners will not be affected by this change in federal policy, and will be able to continue their activities unaffected. ‘
Well done, Susanne. There are plenty of countries (including Canada) that have strong gun cultures for hunting and collection – and even protection in rural areas. The difference is that the culture of gunning other people down in the streets and in their homes isn’t plaguing those countries. Why is it a problem here? What is it about the culture here that has people in a state of heightened fear, and ready to gun down anyone who looks at them funny? There’s a bigger problem than just gun ownership. And it’s fueled by the likes of Limbaugh and the rogues in the Republican Party, plus 40 years of fear and hate-mongering.
so true, theo! guns sitting in the closets of calm, sane people, who need to protect their family from bears, or to provide food, are not at issue. and jacked up crazies will do damage with whatever weapon is at hand. but unbalanced people who have been harangued endlessly about their gun rights, who also have easy access to wmd, will do massive damage.
The Far left is against the Presidents pick for Energy, an MIT physicist.
Why? Well, in addition to being all about green energy, he also likes Natural gas.
So, the green groups want the President to choose somebody else.
Give me a break?
Hah, Rendell left a stink behind him in Pa that still wafts across the state from the capital. He missed most good chances to make a difference and he was a pompous ass as well.
Lol! Eddie Rendell saying the President should sell his base on entitlement cuts.
Yeah! That’s easy! Whatever? Does he think Hillary, who wanted Medicare for all in 1993, would do this?
He is a …..?
Madness, if you’ve never seen it, the slow dissolution of sanity into all consuming obsession, furtive paranoia, and unpredictable irrationality, is terrible to witness.
Especially when it happens to someone that we should respect and admire and look to for calm and reasoned guidance.
“I have seen a number of occasions around here where people have stayed too long…”
– Senator John McCain (R-AZ).
Speaking of mad people who have stayed too long.
Since the recent elections, I’ve watched John McCain with an increasing sense of unease and disbelief.
Tom Teves: “I Have VOTED Republican My Whole Life,…“I’ll NEVER Vote Republican Again — EVER!”
The mother of a young man killed in the Aurora, Colo. movie theater massacre told TPM on Thursday she was appalled at the way Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) handled her question about an assault weapons ban at a town hall event in Phoenix. “I was very surprised that a senator, who has been in office for over 30 years, would address a grieving mother, who just lost her son exactly seven months prior — yesterday was the 20th, I lost my son on 7-20-2012 — to tell me that I needed ‘some straight talk,’” Caren Teves said by phone.
snip/
Teves said her husband recently wrote McCain a letter addressing the Aurora shooting, which took the lives of their son and 11 other people. But she said McCain’s office responded with a impersonal form letter that focused on an an entirely different massacre: the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn. Neither McCain nor his staff approached her after the town hall event, she added.
The root cause of all evil that is the rethug party today. You vote against your own interest 24×7 based on some stupid reasoning and now you whine about it ? You get what you voted for.
gm desertflower – it seems eventually the reality of the GOP is made clear – how sad that the loss of a son is the turning point – but it will help save other children from the same fate.
Since the election of President Obama, average Americans are more aware of how our government (federal and state) operates. We see how our elected officials’ actions are primarily for the benefit of the 1%; often to the detriment of the 99% and how the media aides their cause. We see the double standards. We see how many of our crises are self-inflicted. We see that many of our representatives work to ensure their political futures; not for the welfare of “we the people.”
When he campaigned prior to the 2008 election, President Obama talked about being more transparent. His presidency has indeed brought about more transparency. However, to the vexation of Congress, and their corporate and millionaire puppeteers, transparency turned out to be that Americans have awaken and are paying attention.
Absolutely, swbluega! Visited BJ and there was a part of the story that wondered if there was a MAN asking that question, if McCain would have said he needed a little “straight talk”? McCain’s idea of “straight talk” is actually a shit ton of condescension if he doesn’t agree with the question. There is nothing “straight” about it! He was heartless, cruel, and showed not one iota of empathy top a woman who had tragically lost he son, in the worst possible way….unnecessarily. He WILL be getting an email from me this weekend….and I hope that he gets a call from all of you. If you need a zip code to get past the gate guard at the phone….I will give you one!
The N.R.A. and gun-rights advocates are quick to use the Constitution to defend unfettered access to even the most lethal firearms. But before the Constitution there was the Declaration of Independence, which asserts that we are endowed with certain unalienable rights, including those of “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” It continues, “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted…”
It is time now for government to protect our right to life from the threat of gun violence. It is time for politicians to put this right on the same pedestal they afford the right to bear arms. It is time for them to heed Supreme Court Justice Scalia, who said, “like most rights, the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited.” The Court, in District of Columbia v. Heller, was clear about the need for gun regulation: “nothing in our opinion should be taken to cast doubt on … laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms.” It even went so far as to recognize the right of government to prohibit, “the carrying of `dangerous and unusual weapons.'”
I sent the N.Y. Times a e-mail and told them that David Brooks were telling a lie that POTUS didn’t have plan to deal with the sequester. I also e-mail Morning Joe.
8-12k troops in Afghanistan?
Why leaked from The Germans? Is this how Panetta does business? Maybe why Hagel was filibustered? Get this out there before The President makes a decision. Check!
Yo! So how much scrabbling is going on with the ‘Pubs who woke up to this morning’s poll numbers? This is enough to make Orangerangatang to quake and shiver.
I got cooked by the hair on my chiny chin chin! Congrats Cookemom. 😀
🙂
Yo cookemom! Congrats on first, Girlie! 🙂
Howdy!
Thanks for the Rev Al interview, I missed it earlier.
🙂 Top few!
Did you slip on the ice? 😉
No ice…but we still had snow on the ground this morning:)
Amazing.
Bronze! congrats Cookmom, Evening Chipsticks,TOD
Lovely!
Love West Wing Week. Look forward to it every week, especially the unscripted parts at the end. What a great surprise for the President. It would be hard to imagine that there was anything he didn’t know about his family.
I love it too.
OMG!!! I WANT TO ROLL EGGS AT THE WHITE HOUSE!!
If only I had the $$ to get to DC. *le sigh*
And a nephew or niece to act as your egg-rolling beard. 😉
Yes, that would help. I’m sure my friends who have bred would allow me to Rent-A-Kid.
Thanks for the photos and video Chips. I just found Rev. Al’s on the net. Should have known you’d get a photo too! You are the Cat’s meow! 😀 😽
ok – I didn’t even know these were available. I really need to get out more.
http://easter.nationalparks.org/
great toon. so the congress critters have always been destructive ?
AMK you have inspired my toon catalog…..
I love toonists and toons. So pithy, yet so powerful. One of the most creative peeps.
Well my pattern continues. Enter a post and a new thread opens up! 🙂
Here. Here.

Shhh, don’t tell Chips. She works too hard for us. Very smart woman, knows her stuff.
You can run and tell that!
I like the way you think! 😀
Hey Dudette – I was so busy catching up the last thread (& replying to posts all over) – there were 70 replies here before I arrived
Welcome to my world. 🙂
hawaii news team interviewed pbo at the white house–video and commentary. and yes, they ask him if he’ll retire in hawaii, if his presidential library will be in hawaii, and (drumroll) if he speaks pidgin!
http://www.kitv.com/news/politics/EXCLUSIVE-interview-with-President-Obama/-/8905242/19011558/-/pqigod/-/index.html
She was excellent, susanne. Thank you. Really thoughtful questions and very respectful.
So…. DOES he speak pidgin?
he says yes, but won’t demonstrate for the camera. honestly, growing up here, he’d have to be able to slip into the idiom.
Apparently someone in the comments section from susanne’s link posted this:
“Yes, the President can speak Pidgin fluently. When he was a Senator running for POTUS we spoke in Pidgin at his fundraiser in Washington, DC. He did state that he will not be allowed to bodysurf at Sandy’s if he is elected.”
Anybody else catch that he greeted her with “Hey, howzit!”? 😀
From the Urban Dictionary:
Howzit
It is a pidgin word that means Hello / What’s up / How is it and it also is a South African slang meaning the same thing, Hello / What’s Up / How is it.
Hooo brah, howzit! — Pidgin
Howzit. – South African Slang
Yunji De Nease was former WH reporter for ABC news 2 years ago, she went to the same Ponnahu high school as PBO.
I have a feeling that Barack Obama will be the first president to have two official presidential libraries.
Thanks for repeating susanne – I watched the first video while on the last thread – what a delight all these interviews have been
Damn sorry Dudette, I am at Starbucks and the connection sucks. Posted wrong tweet downthread.AHHHHHH…….. same thing happened on last thread.
No prob LP. It’s worthy of a repeat! 🙂
A lil sumpin’ in honor of the month.
Sumpin’ sumptuous! Thank you Sailor!
Let’s keep it all in the family 🙂
A down piece. Not many of what he’s looking for left. Not many bros either. 😦
I beg to differ, Captain. I’m still standing. I’m still here.
Now, what?
Sounds like you’re taking it personal. I don’t know you but as a citizen of the world, for damn near 3/4 of a century. I can only use my standard of measure. I stand with my statement. If it doesn’t fit you, so be it!
Personal? Who me?
I was bragging…..I forgot to put the (lol) in behind the “now, what”.
I take nothing personal. We are all in this together. My President is Your President.
Bro. Malcolm has been through a lot with the love of his life’s transition as he held her in his arms (I forgot her name, she played in the hit television series “Family Matters”) I thought that it was beautiful how he expressed his love for “his woman” whether it was her or a new found love through the Spoken Word. I admire anyone who does that with such feelings, flavor and emotions.
If I offended you, it was not intentionally.
Your statement and your standard of measure are fine by me.
For me, I look for the worst and hope for the best in all of us.
No problem and I’m not offended. I thought I’d stepped on your toes. PEACE!
Shalom!
Somebody’s been wookin’ pa nub in all the wrong places.
I don’t think so. I became indifferent at the age of 71.
Maybe you should try you a youngin 😆 😆 😆
(please don’t hurt me, I just wanted to stir up the waters a little too 🙂 )
Ha! You’re funny. I’ve already raised 4 children. I don’t need another one! 😀
Ha, why do you think you might have to raise her? She might teach you a lil sumthin sumthin 🙂
Listen to Sheba:
Ha! I kinda doubt it. I’ve been around the world twice and done some of everything there was to do, including whatever you’re thinking. Grow some extra hands or whatever then let’s talk! 🙂
LMAO, ok you win and you know what they say about o…mature dogs………
Peace and Love to you yardarm 🙂
Chipsticks dont know the status of the “Despot” but hope springs eternal. Saw this yesterday, hope it puts a smile on your face?
Holy crap, that cat is as fat as my Zeke!
Is that one of the Wall Street fat cats PBO use to warn us about?
Hahahahaahahahaa…..this cat is so freaking lazy.
AP is reporting that Hagel has enough support for confirmation.
Apparently, in addition to Dems, Reid has Cochran, Collins, Johanns, Murkowski, and Shelby for cloture.
Then Dems plus Cochran, Johanns, and Shelby for confirmation.
Vote coming up next Tuesday.
Excellent! Still pissed at the grandstanding that caused the delay. I hope he slams the door in every Repugs face who votes No, then has the nerve to come asking him for a favor.
9t9. They’re dealing with his skin color not his intelligence. In their minds the two don’t go together.
Most certainly.
When is PBO leaving for the Eurpean summit and I wonder if Hagel will be accompanying him if he has not been confirmed?
Who are they to sternly warn anybody about anything!?!
So freakin’ idiotic! The Hideous Fifteen:
James Inhofe of Oklahoma, the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee
John Cornyn (Texas)
Lindsey Graham (S.C.)
Roger Wicker (Miss.)
David Vitter (La.)
Ted Cruz (Texas)

Marco Rubio (Fla.)
Dan Coats (Ind.)
Ron Johnson (Wis.)

Tom Coburn (Okla.)

Tim Scott (S.C.).
Scuzzballs – one and all
THIS AND THIS!!!!!!!
I gotta say, Inhofe is one of the worst senators this country has ever seen, and there are some doozies.
I agree with you, Meta. His fellow oklahoman, Tom Coburn, is not that much better. Something happened to Oklahoma because I still remember the days when tOklahomans elected progressive Senators like Fred Harris.
list of horrors is right carolyn!
All of them from the land of pick-up trucks and bib overalls.
And survivalists. The new breed.
Oh yeah!
🙂 Grab the key to the bunker!
The most extreme wackjobs!
Wouldn’t you know the hideous Toomey would be on this list. Complete, absolute waste of space and an utter mismatch with PA.
Indeed, Jackie G! What were the majority of people in PA smoking when they voted for this right wing nut job?
It was all part of the 2010 mania and the furor over Specter. Joe Sestak came very, very close to beating Toomey despite all the Koch-tainted money that poured into the Republican campaign. As I’ve said before, I’m hoping that our wonder AG, Kathleen Kane, continues to do such a terrific job that she kicks Toomey to the curb in 2016. He is WAY too radical for a moderate state like PA.
I can’t believe the Secret Service did not charge these cops for their threatening action against President Obama and Michelle while assigned to protect them. A must read.
I know. And that person who did the firing is who ought to be fired!!
You can’t really tell the truth from one report/video clip, but this story reminded me of the recent story about that ex-CA cop who went on a shooting rampage. It past sad when you cannot completely trust those who are supposed to protect you.
I can’t believe it either, ranman. They needed to be charged, discharged from their jobs and their names dishonored forever–for starters.
Thanks for this! I just signed up for this site’s newsletter. Interesting read.
The GOP are intent on ensuring they lose the house in 2014 – the media might lie about reality – those living it will not.
I cannot resist re-posting this for those who may have missed it…..
GOPolitico haz a sad:
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA……burn motherf**ker.
LOL!!
Yeah!
Haven’t seen our tweetanator BobFr around.
Saw him late at nite a few days ago, think he said he is busy w/ work for time being. I’m sure he will drop by tonight. I DM’ed you AMK
Got it. Thanks for the vid. 🙂
A couple of retweets on his twitter 30 min ago – he has some long meeting days – might be one of those days – he has 6478 followers – tweeter exraordinaire
Thanks. I don’t know how he does it.
he is amazing! and I think he’s a pretty busy guy!
Well, the only fun in that cartoon for me is that the author of the book “Barack Obama Is Your New Bicycle” can now write a second book, “Barack Obama Is Your Tugboat.” And he is! So glad he’s our President!
Pierce on Hagel – Chuck Hagel Took Shrapnel For These Clowns – just the title is enough
http://www.esquire.com/blogs/politics/The_End_Of_The_Hagel_End_Game
Oh, my favorite paragraph:
“dimmest lights in the entire chandelier.” hahahahaha
Pierce has some wonderful – and suitable – names for the dim ones – he is not afraid to fully describe them
Excellent!
I never would have known about this guy but I heard about Charles P here. He is very interesting.
Him, and PM Carpenter and TOD, now and then Tomasky and Sullivan, the reason the internet was invented.
I no like Sullivan – his life interest is Sullivan. Glad he has gone behind a paywall so less people see his posturing and tweet about it. The rest are the good guys
I loved this comment:
“I hear these doofi also wrote quite the letter to Santa Claus, requesting, inter alia, the overturning of the last Presidential election, a new Constitutional amendment guaranteeing majority power to the Republican party, and a pony”.
I started laughin’ at *doofi* !!!
‘Is that one word or two?’
LOL. Why me ?
Oh holla. That’s a hoot! 😆 😆
HA! He’s got game, no matter the age.
Confused. I don’t get the joke. “Is that one word or two?” Huh?
Hi UT…Play on Words…
Infrequently…one word as in rarely, or “in” frequently, two words as placing “in” numerous times. (Don’t want to be too explicit!)
kidz these days … 🙄
I tired to explain that Martz – but it came out all wrong and not as I wanted it to look – you did it very well 🙂 🙂
I had to re-think it twice before i got it and I am not a kid.
Marlz was smart enough to avoid using a dash, like you did in “re-think,” because that would have been quite explicit. But you know mischievous old-timers here recognized the pun right away.
That’s pretty funny!
He is NOT sane
“I can tell you right now you need some straight talk. That assault weapons ban will not pass the Congress of the United States,” said Sen. McCain.
McCain said his plan to deal with mass shootings would protect Second Amendment rights.
John McCain says this to a mother whose child was murdered in Aurora
http://www.azfamily.com/news/McCain-responds-to-jerk-comment-at-town-hall-meeting-192141531.html
John McCain has become a disgrace.
Annibella, he IS a disgrace!
The bs about the Second Amendment is just that, bs.
What sane person would say that after all this mother has gone through?
Some view the Second Amendment as a “Golden Rule” or “Ten Commandment”.
Anniebella, McCain has been a disgrace for quite sometime.
oh my!!!!!
To paraphrase “The second amendment rights of the shooter – overshadow your son’s right to life (this from the PRO LIFE team).
oh my!!!! – should be the catchword of anyone who saw/heard him say that.
Had to tweet that 99ts
Thanks Dudette – that seems to be what “straight talking McCain” has to say
Pretty damned disgusting!
Bravo, Bravo, 99ts and Dudette! These mfs need to be constantly exposed. They are really evil people with no human sympathy. Even in the wild west, guns were routinely regulated.
How did this guy with zero people skills and negative compassion ever get elected to anything? Does he just buy his way in?
#ProsperNotSequester
Boehner will cry and give up – Cantor just smiles at people’s misery.
aloha 99 and bob (and chips and tod peeps)
can’t-er is up to his usual — i won’t quote much here, but this is today’s cowpie:
‘Cantor said in a statement that the cuts set to go into effect on March 1 – which he agreed were neither smart nor fair – would only be implemented because Democrats refuse to restrain federal spending.’

G’day susanne – now why does the aloha sound so much more musical than the oz “g’day” – mmmm – not to worry, maybe I can move across the pacific – thank you for proving that the hill has little worthwhile to offer the conversation. Cantor just loves to cause other people grief – I don’t like him or his attitude or his policies at all. If it is good for Cantor – it is bad for the USA.
so true– also, he’s forgotten how to smile and look nice. just too many evil thoughts, and it shows on his face.
Weird how our thoughts can be seen in our faces – perfectly described.
Good story! Lived parts of it. We certainly learned how to stand on our own two feet, though!
And I am outta here.
Yikes! You’re lucky you ran out of here… 😉

Ta-nihisi can Write. Terrific article and reason to continue to be hopeful for our future
DF – I just started reading this – got to here
“In black communities, there was a distinct awareness of the situation: if white folks are willing to hand over the country to a black man, then we must really be in bad shape.”
And how true is that – wonder how many of those white folks wanted to blame the black guy for every failing ever to happen in the USA.
Many thanks for the link.
Excellent article! Thanks for sharing it, DF.
SMN!
You said it, brother!
So I did and meant it too. Return to the Planet of the Apes!
I’m witnessing it every day and it’s still unfathomable. Can you imagine reading about this era in 20 years?
Nope!
how about it Yardarm? Geeze Louise
Just the ramblings of a geezer.
Amen!
my subject – contraception – amazing that the pill was invented – by a man – who cared that women gave 30 years of their life to reproduction. gopers cry because women don’t give 30 years of their life to reproduction.
And they’re tryin’ to flush that!
exactly – and they wonder why women don’t like them or their policies.

I am destroyed by this man…
You and me both! Feeeeevah!
ah, marcus miller! a drummer he’s played with, ronald bruner jr, who i had a chance to hang out with after a show a while ago, was just named as the new drummer for prince’s upcoming tour. i’m going to have to go see one of those shows with this guy drumming for prince (another clip i’ve seen it looks like bruner is wearing an obama shirt, so he’s smart too!):
Daaaaaaayum Sweaty, Funky, Nasty! [Falling out on the floor… pickin my self up… (thud again)]

And Andrew is a jerk for his comment.
Okay, fine then.
hmmmm. let’s see it, then.
Whoa… do my eyes deceive me? Do I see wimmins in there? Our conservafriends will be so pleased.
I was just going to write “Does everybody else count the women first, now, like I do?” Ha! Maybe President Obama has women actors on standby to play those parts. Not. He’s not the one with the “women problem.”
Paging Mark Knoller…
We don’t need to go that far…Ezra & Mrs. Klein….
I have a suspicion that EVERY meeting photo released since the WHPC started the “no women” meme has included one or more ladies. We all instantly look to check – to answer jacqueline below.
woops – that be jacqueline above
Yeah, but only four. There are 9 men (7 visible, 1 invisible, plus POTUS). Big news — appears no dwarfs, no giants, no polka dots, nor zebras! Why does POTUS discriminate against dwarfs, giants, dots & strips folks????
stripes
POTUS’s left new Sec of the Cabinet, Chief Legal Counsel, Valerie Jarret, and new Com Dir. Jen Palmeri. But the most pressing question is WHY? and let me re-iterate WHY? is Clint Eastwood involved in this high-level meeting….I want answers, pronto!
LOL Roger Simon tweets are simply hilarious, especially when he’s taking jabs at republicans.
weird that he still works for politico
not really. he’s long been a republican shill. he just likes to try to be funny and sarcastic sometimes, so he’ll make jokes about republicans too, but when push comes to shove, he’ll toe the republican party line every time.
I kind of fell for it all early, but then learned my lesson. It’s a shame, ’cause he’d make a good liberal.
Guess I know that – but he does have some humor to his tweets
Okay, now I’m depresse!. Black Violin performed here in Atlanta YESTER-FREAKIN-DAY and I didn’t know about it! Arrrrrgh!!

Will do!
Here’s a nice thought for late evening:
Good night y’all!
‘night dudette.
Strip searches — in school??? Hell NO! Who’s running the district? A bunch of perverts????
Yikes! What is going on in this place?!
i wrote to my elected reps to express my strong support for gun control measures, specifically the president’s plan. i got two letters back, one from senator maizie hirono, and one from rep tulsi gabbard, both confirming their support for the president and gun control. here’ a bit from tulsi’s:
#TrustBarack
time for some rest …
night all.
The Far left is against the Presidents pick for Energy, an MIT physicist.
Why? Well, in addition to being all about green energy, he also likes Natural gas.
So, the green groups want the President to choose somebody else.
Give me a break?
Is there anything that the “far left” is not against when it comes to the decisions that PBO makes?
Ed Rendell is saying he was a great governor and PBO should be more like he was.
What a fucking prick!
Hah, Rendell left a stink behind him in Pa that still wafts across the state from the capital. He missed most good chances to make a difference and he was a pompous ass as well.
Mr Rendell, if POTUS was like you I might not had voted for him. I voted for Barack Obama because he was Barack Obama, not Ed Rendell, thank God.
Lol! Eddie Rendell saying the President should sell his base on entitlement cuts.
Yeah! That’s easy! Whatever? Does he think Hillary, who wanted Medicare for all in 1993, would do this?
He is a …..?
Jim Wright wondering about Sen John McCain

“I Have VOTED Republican My Whole Life,”
The root cause of all evil that is the rethug party today. You vote against your own interest 24×7 based on some stupid reasoning and now you whine about it ? You get what you voted for.
Yes, I am a heartless jerk.
gm desertflower – it seems eventually the reality of the GOP is made clear – how sad that the loss of a son is the turning point – but it will help save other children from the same fate.
Tweeted it!
Thanks so much, dudette.
http://www.greenwichtime.com/opinion/article/Op-Ed-Let-representatives-hear-you-on-gun-control-4297987.php#ixzz2LdCOwABM
The N.R.A. and gun-rights advocates are quick to use the Constitution to defend unfettered access to even the most lethal firearms.
Let’s do this!!
Alrighty people, we’ve got to start hitting back at lies.
And they never recant those lies – the RWNJ web sites pick up the lies and 27% of the population believe them forever.
Check!
