Congrats Carol – you are quick
Thanks. I was sure it would be all about Chips fav sport. Boy did I guess wrong.
Congrats Carolmae
It’s always good to see POTUS 🙂
The best. It is really Swagger Saturday.
“Swagger Saturday”
Me likes!!!!
Oh, someone called it that from a former thread. Not an original thought from me! 😳
Well Chips, I know where, as our TOD female friends scroll through all those pictures, when it’s highly likely a surge in demand for naughty mats will happen 🙂
Congrats Carol 🙂
bbl …
Thanks Bob.
Is the photo on your tweet of Hadiya? She had so much life ahead of her.
Yes and in the video a segment of her full of happiness at the Inauguration – just breaks one’s heart ….
I know, mine too.
😆 You know Bob, I did think twice-ish about posting that pic, but in the end I decided: what the heck, it’s Saturday!
How many of our fellow TODers have had to dial 911 since I left that comment, Chips 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Gazillions, Bobs! 😆
My scroll function broke when I got to that picture (and a couple of others) and I was forced to linger and gaze at the physique for quite some time. It was rather inconvenient! But, somehow, I made it through… I’m just going back up to test my scroll function again… 😉
So sorry about your malfunctioning scrolling Theo, I just hope you survived the ordeal of being stuck on that pic – you poor thing 🙂
Bringing this over
Greetings TOD family
I just got off the phone from a town hall call sponsored by OFA – Organizing for Action.
Rahm Emmanuel and Austin Goolsbee where the featured speakers. The Director of OFA Jon Carson led the call.
Long story short – I am very encouraged by the level of support this group has and am confident that by working with them we can move the President’s agenda forward. We have deep support from the President and smart folks coming up with a strategy.
Rahm and Austin each spoke for about 10 minutes and then the rest of the call was Q and A.
My takeaways
The President’s job plan will emphasize infrastructure investment and Education, pre K – through college.
Advice for pressuring Congress – make it local.
Don’t just call and say you want support for infrastructure, mention the crumbling bridges and potholes in your neighborhood.
List the preschools ill that will loose funding or public services that will be cut if the sequester is allowed to happen.
Pressure those elected officials that don’t vote our way using phone calls, twitter, Facebook and email
Thank elected officials who support our programs. They need to know we have their back at home.
Here are 2 things they have asked each of us to do
1. Call our elected officials when key votes are up, remember to mention local specific when making that call – I promise to finish the updating of the contact congress page this weekend
2. Write letters to the editor and again keep it local. I would suggest that we all share the letters we write – here on the blog to offer examples and inspiration to the group. Remember local media resources can be found at
http://www.whatisworking.com/2011/09/local-media.html
Now my personal advice – JOIN THIS GROUP
Sign up to be a member of the OFA mailing list (even if you signed up before at barackobama.com this is different)
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Re0e-T7BBMAZP5S9zlq6mfFfreWo259M5zBesrfQ7hQ/viewform
Yep, thanks.
You’re always full of information, Linda. Thanks so much for posting this here. Very encouraging.
thanks a lot for this info. I will be following up.
thanks also for all you always do to support PBO
Thanks for sharing. I’m sorry I missed the call. Time difference sometimes tricks me. 😦
I signed the form that came up and didn’t read the full headline until after I entered it. It looks like I’m signed onto CA. Is that a big problem?
OOPs
Send a note to this person and she can fix it
Amy McGonagle
A note, how?
Thanks for posting — I forgot all about the call. Truth be told, I just got up around 4:00; not one of my better days…
Thanks so much for the report Linda – I am stuck at work and didn’t sign up for this. I’m glad to know that they are organizing (organized?) for helping our President! And I will sign up for this and share your thoughts with former team members. thanks again!
This is the sign up for Cali…is there on for PA
Nice! Thank you, Chips.
I give you, Fox News:

SMH
They just look crazy now – more than usual.
He does everything Great! I should have said skiing?
Great post, Chips 🙂
Goodness Chips!!….This is like a smorgasbord of all pictures…Just Beautiful…I almost did the Rubio “gulp”..Boy! I need more water.
I feel like is Election Day!!!!….Molto Grazie…Mia Amica (((Chips))
“I almost did the Rubio “gulp”
See, now I’m picturing Kasai desperately reaching for water as she addresses the nation, gulping as she goes!!!
LOL!!! After seeing these beautiful pictures…I may be reaching out for something stronger..Ain’t gonna be water…
Hey Chips….this reminds of another “BO knows”……
Body-Building 😎
Wow…..it was after those pictures came out that so many could not handle the truth……DC/NY Journos. They saw how this was just not another POTUS to be. This was in 2008, after the election or was this in 2009 in HI?
Now if I was a man with a Body-Building body like that……hmm? I will be getting some sun-baiting……strolling down ans easing down the road 🙂
Now there you go starting trouble, Chips, posting that pic of PBO with no shirt on.
Proud, it hurts me SO much to think that you would think that I think that you would think that I think posting stuff like, dunno:
is acceptable.
You’ll NEVER see anything like that here, honest. Ish.
LOL. Nooooo, never.
That’s weird, you sound just like someone called @LiberalPhenom on Twitter. 😕
Isn’t it a hoot how the rethugs are always trying to prove they are as good as PBO yet always come up short. Case in point, Paul the lying Ryan with his ‘hey, what about me? I can lift weights. See?’ pic. Media tried to make a big deal out of it but it fell flat.
It’s not just a sculpted body, it’s a body with charisma and style and a good spirit to go along with it.
But these little details continue to go over their heads.
Exactly LunarSea. They don’t get the nuances about PBO that makes him uniquely him. You just can’t replicate that by picking random disjointed characteristics and slapping them on anyone.
Wow…..I had no idea that Chips had these many pictures initially. Wow….she expanded the Yummy, Yum Yum pictures. Fantastic.
As the McDonald’s ad says: I’m Lovin it.
😎 Thank 😉 You 🙂 Chips ❗
I love the body language in the picture of Mitch McConnell and President Obama. Mitch has his leg crossed away from the President, a sign he is uncomfortable, his right arm crosses his body as if protecting himself , and he’s leaning away from the President. On the other hand, President Obama’s leg is crossed toward McConnell, his arms are open and he’s sitting straight in his chair with only his head turned to talk. Guess which one is afraid of the other.
Mutant Ninja Turtle rustling…..
He looks like he’s trying to crawl back into his shell. LOL
alpha male vs loser brat
That photo of Paul Ryan looking all wide-eyed at PBO is hilarious. He looks like a scared little boy. Sooooooooooo out of his league.
Hmmmmmm……very interesting. I can imagine McConnell is sweating buckets right about now.
If he had lips, the bottom one would be trembling.
ouch (LMAO)
Silly GB, turtles don’t have lips! Proving once again that all we need to know in life we learned in kindergarten 😆
HA!
Lmfao @ “please-proceeding” and “Galluping.” The campaign sure was a lot of fun in retrospect (I can say that now seeing as how the pollsters and pundits were horribly, embarrassingly wrong).
Oh, and PBO with no shirt? Bad, bad Chips. 😀
Bad?! Me?! 😯
Yes, you. And we thank you for that.
😆 DON’T encourage me, Sweetbay!
This time around was much less nerve wracking for sure.
Says who?! I was a mess on the weekend before election. Phone banked all day just to stay calm.
I was nervous about the senate. barring any funny business from GOP w/voting machines, I knew Pres.Obama would win again.
Hot Chocolate with You Sexy Thing is just about right by now. 🙂
Hi Chips and my TOD Family. Chips, thanks for the great meds. for the dayin Love seeing our president looking always soooooooooooooooo fine.
I am lyiing here trying to read the articles from the Rise and Shine and keep up with my Chips delicious Sat. meal. I can’t eat, but I sure am enjoying looking. Good for the stomach and mind. Thanks, Chips.. Love you back so much. (((HZ))) to ((((Chips))))))HZ
Love ya back HZ, look after yourself, always thinking of you.
Thank you, my special angel. HZ
Seems this WH proposal is under-the-radar for the MSM (having connectivity problems with Tweetdeck right now, so this may have been tweeted by someone other than @USAtoday:
From article, highlights of WH proprosal:
White House immigration bill offers path to residency
A draft of a White House immigration proposal obtained by USA TODAY would allow illegal immigrants to become legal permanent residents within eight years.
The plan also would provide for more security funding and require business owners to check the immigration status of new hires within four years. In addition, the nation’s 11 million illegal immigrants could apply for a newly created “Lawful Prospective Immigrant” visa, under the bill being written by the White House.
In his first term, Obama often deferred to Congress on drafting and advancing major legislation, including the Affordable Care Act. He has openly supported the efforts in Congress to move immigration legislation, and just this week met with Democratic senators to discuss their proposals.
But two weeks ago in Las Vegas, while outlining his immigration plans, Obama made clear that he would not wait too long for Congress to get moving.
According to the White House draft, people would need to pass a criminal background check, submit biometric information and pay fees to qualify for the new visa. If approved, they would be allowed to legally reside in the U.S., work and leave the country for short periods of time.
They could then apply for legal permanent residence, commonly known as a green card, within eight years if they learn English and “the history and government of the United States” and pay back taxes. That would then clear the path for them to apply for U.S. citizenship.
Tweetdeck is slowwwwww-ly coming back to life; some Politicos and Buzzfeeders have picked up on USAtoday leak.
Hope the White House continues to circumvent those rabble-rousers at those two publications. I like Buzzfeed; they have a conservative-leaning political staff, but they have a sense of humor. Conservatives, of course, believe Buzzfeed has a liberal lean.
BuzzFeed is really Politico Lite – some decent people there, like Andrew Kaczynski, but most of the rest are the dregs, like the guy they hired from The Blaze, whose name, happily, I can’t remember. And Ben Smith, lest we forget, was the creature who pushed the Rev Wright ‘story’ day after day after day in Politico in 2008, a complete piece of RW shit.
Ben Smith is another jealous jerk. I saw he tweeted that he was more interested in watching the unfolding Dorner chase in Ca. than some dumb SOTU.
And speaking of jerks, anyone notice that Noah Rothman on mediaite is relentlessly anti-Obama. Every story/event has an anti-Obama nugget to expound upon if he just looks hard enough. I’m sick of these creeps.
That’s what envy does. They are obsessed because Obama has everything they want but don’t and never will have.
Oooooooh Rothman ….. makes Drudge seem fair and balanced!!! Complete hate-filled bigot!
Evening all -Maineiac in da house. Checking in before building a fire in the wood stove and hunkering down for more blizzard like conditions on the way. Just a pretty light snow falling all day. Funny how Mother Nature can turn up the heat and throw us all for a loop, going from picturesque snowfall to blizzard in no time flat.
Anyway, just want to say: it’s official. I am an Obot! I knew everyone of those pictures. Even the last one when PBO stopped by a campaign office and decided to do some calls and the person on the phone didn’t believe it was him. He had to work to convince them it was really PBO. That face was just perfect for the situation.
Ahh memory lane a la ChipsChica, the honest. ish one 😆
LMAO
Well, they do say that the truth is a bitter pill to swallow.
Well I be dam, they know they are Racists, out of touch, hateful, 1950, and it doesn’t bother them at all.
They think its just the librul media spreading lies and that non-Republicans are all lazy, deficient people who want free stuff. They don’t see themselves as the problem.
Please tell me there is a link somewhere to this reporting. I would love to post it to my FB page.
Very educated guess it was a snap shot of this NYT article going around about the GOP
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/17/magazine/can-the-republicans-be-saved-from-obsolescence.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
Good Evening Chipsticks,TOD. What a timeline! Always like seeing pics you forgot about or missed. Thanks..
BTW where was that hurdling pic from I have never seen that track meet photo?
Thanks for tweeting this.
We need to get Japan’s opinion of the US above 50% (not surprising that China is viewed unfavorably by 85% of Japanese).
Hope POTUS spends some quality time in Japan during his next Asia trip (and not vomiting in the PM’s lap ala GHWBush 41)
NP, Its an under the radar issue Japan/China in U.S. media. I’ve seen higher #’s in the 80’s when it comes to PBO personally, let me see if i can find the graph I saw….
You are correct. They are unhappy with the US over the bases there. I don’t have enough info on ‘why’ because our media is so useless, but there is some discomfort with us being there. Do you remember some protests about this when PBO visited. I’m happy to say that was the ONLY thing they were protesting against, but the people interviewed were still very gracious and not given to the nastiness we see hear.
Anyway PBO was able to mend relations to some degree in this area the last time he was there. And US came to their aid big time after the Tsunami -so there’s that. But they really do like PBO.
The ‘why’ is the residents of Okinawa are sick of hearing fighter jets coming and going 24/7. And the U.S. was going to expand the base there, which sent residents up in arms and cost 2 PM their jobs in the last 4 years b/c they had agreed to the expansion.
wow I knew he was discussing our bases with them, but didn’t know it was in regards to expanding. For a tiny quiet island it must be very jarring to have that happening all the time. Those darn things are super loud. Hopefully PBO has tried to work toward a solution that would not be such an intrusion into their daily lives. I can’t say as I blame them and since he is one to put himself in others shoes I will trust that he is taking their concerns into account.
Great graphic. Now I remember seeing your posting this tweet before, but Chips moves things right along, so I forgot about it. 😦
Japan does love PBO; he’s got all the qualities they so admire. After his 2008 election, I recall seeing an article that said the most popular “Learn English” books were based on PBO’s speeches, which of course are a great example for everyone in the world.
Thank God GWBush is puttering around Texas (and how clueless are the GOP who think Americans don’t remember how awful our global reputation was during his term).
Yes http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/12/business/global/12iht-speech.html their are a few universities in Japan who teach courses on PBO’s speeches alone. There is a great video of a professor redoing his 04 DNC speech, but I have already taken up to much real-estate w/ that graph. One of my favorite Chipsticks photos is the one where PBO is sitting by w/ the elderly Japanese couple eating a Green-Tea popsicle by a Buddha I believe!
Just adding my 2 cents, do you think you can trust polls taken China or Russia?
A poll of their leaders? To clarify.
When it comes to international polling there are only a few reputable organizations that im aware of in the U.S. Pew does a yearly survey, BBC has a firm and both of them poll close to 80 countries and 40,000 respondents. As you can imagine thats damn expensive, so they make sure its legit. As for the Middle East Zogby does some decent polling.
Thanks.
For context NBC’s monthly polling is 1100-1500 voters and costs about $30,00-50,000 to conduct.
Wow.
So my take away from this graph is:
China doesn’t like anyone but they’re on the fence with Putin (can’t decide if they like him or not) but they like him better than Ban Ki-Moon. Germans love Obama more that Merkel but they none-the-less really like Merkel. US likes it’s president best. Is on the fence about Merkel and likes Ban Ki-Moon more than Putin by a full 10%. Japan really likes PBO, likes Merkel & Ban Ki-Moon but really doesn’t like Russia and Russia likes noone but Putin, altho it’s trying to like Merkel
You should write a college dissertation…….
😆
YESSSS! HAHAHA The rethugs, by blocking implementation of this act in their states, are steering us straight into the arms of government run health care. A market based approach to single payer that’s bound to evolve into healthcare for all.
Let’s see….what’s the word?…..
All the more reason to ensure that Democrats take back, and keep, the House – so these programs will be fully funded and not become another sabotaged program that the GOP can point to and say “see – government doesn’t work”.
precisely

Here comes Medicare for ALL – YAY!!!!!

Love the pictures. I never get tired of looking at them. Most favourite…PBO and Michelle dancing. So romantic. Sigh….
They are all so good but my fav has to be the hands touching. That was from when they toured the gulf during the #BPOilSpill I think.
My favs of the two of them, and goodness knows I have lots of ‘favs’ of the two of them together, are:
1. the hands touching (no gazing into eyes or anything and yet the love and support come through loud and clear)
2. at the first inaug. in the freight elevator after he put his coat around her, because I love all the people in the background trying so hard to NOT look and all the time they are in their own little world
3. viewing the Chicago skyline. There was such a longing in the way they stood there.
4. the Jarrett wedding -no words needed
5. them walking during the 2nd inaug. I. Really. Love. Those. Knowing what they had to go through to get to there… Those signify ‘Triumph’ to me.
Of course there are tons more, with heads of states, with kids, with the girls, all decked out in finery, but for some reason those always make me swoon over their love for each other.
What are some of your favs of the two of them?
The Jarrett wedding is now my new favourite.
That is a nice one, but it’s hard for me to pick one or two favorites. Anyone with POTUS, FLOTUS, Malia, Sasha, Bo, is my favorite. I like the ones with POTUS and FLOTUS with kids. That one with Mr. Turtle, forget that one for sure. Thank goodness you don’t have any with Boehner.
Ditto—>>”That one with Mr. Turtle, forget that one for sure.”<<—that
But she did, it was fly swatting. I think rodent taming could also be lyin’ taming.
Oh, that’s easy, LunarS.
My favouritest (at the moment of this writing) is the one with the little girl resting comfortably on his shoulder with the picture of the other president behind them.
My favourite at THIS moment is the picture of the little girl with the blue flower in her hair giving the Pres a flirty wave.
My other favourite is ALL those babies and toddlers looking him in the eye.
An old favourite was the group of babies looking at Pres through the daycare window and the little miss who gave him the ‘what-are-you-doing-looking-in-my-window look.
Another favourite is when Sasha gives the camera/media that dignified ‘oh, go away’ look.
My other favourite……..okay, I’ll stop. 😉
Great summary of the First Couple. I think 2. In the elevator during First Inaugural. But it is REALLY hard to choose. The kids of every age really like him. 😉
May—–or may not—–be President Obama on the golf course today. Intriguing! Mysterious! Unidentified golfer guys at his getaway course.
For your viewing pleasure and confusion….and best guess….
http://www.tcpalm.com/photos/2013/feb/16/416696/
That has to be him on the right?!
Agree. On the right!
The reason I thought it might be—–looks like the coast guard is sticking pretty close there.
4 African Americans in the group looked w/ the Houston Astros Owner, apparently Milton Carroll owns the course.
Astros owner, Jim Crane, (fairly) recently purchased and renovated course. Scratch golfer and Obama supporter.
Ya mixed the last two up he gave an interview to MLB.com, will be playing w/ President tommorow http://houston.astros.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130216&content_id=41714636&vkey=news_hou&c_id=hou but found this video of PBO arriving at his course last nite playing Solitare on his Ipad! http://www.cbs12.com/news/top-stories/stories/vid_5263.shtml
How about that four black guys on golf course, twenty or thirty years ago they would be the caddy or keeping grounds clean.
Looks like POTUS to me, but just to be certain, perhaps he could take off his shirt for the next shot. Just kidding and no disrespect intended.
OMG, I am totally cracking up at you, Vicki!!
Vicki – I think there’s a naughty mat with your name on it. Although, you can’t be blamed given the instigation at the top of the post… 😉
Yep – 18th hole if the description of the course is correct 😉
I tried but I can’t tell
Obama golfers: Ron Kirk, Eric Whitaker, Astros owner and Obama donor Jim Crane and CenterPoint Energy Chairman Milton Carroll
Where is the Chicago Cubs owner at? Remember that pig.
Rickets, ya he majorly screwed up and pissed of Rahm Emmanuel so bad after that, the Cubs might not get the 100 million they need to renovate Wrigley Field. Odd thing is Rickets daughter is a big Obama supporter…….weird family.
I’m not from Chicago, but I sure can think of better places for 100 million dollars to go, let the billionaire spend his own money.
thanks for all the lovely photos Chips! I think my favorite is still “really big fish” something or other when he’s out there fly fishing. He looks so happy.
never ceases to amuse me with this multi-talent
Terrific pictures!
Is this woman still in the WHPC? Geesh!

Thought provoking for sure.
A father put his 3 year old daughter to bed, told her a story and listened to her prayers which ended by saying, “God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, God bless Grandma and good-bye Grandpa
The father asked, ‘Why did you say good-bye Grandpa?’
The little girl said, “I don’t know daddy, it just seemed like the thing to do.”
The next day grandpa died. The father thought it was a strange coincidence.
A few months later the father put the girl to bed and listened to her prayers which went like this, “God bless Mommy, God Bless Daddy and good-bye Grandma.”
The next day the grandmother died.
“Holy crap” thought the father, “this kid is in contact with the other side.”
Several weeks later when the girl was going to bed, the dad heard her say, “God bless Mommy and good-bye Daddy.”
He practically went into shock. He couldn’t sleep all night and got up at the crack of dawn to go to his office. He was nervous as a cat all day, had lunch and watched the clock.
He figured if he could get by until midnight he would be okay. He felt safe in the office, so instead of going home at the end of the day he stayed there, drinking coffee, looking at his watch and jumping at every sound.
Finally midnight arrived; he breathed a sigh of relief and went home.
When he got home his wife said, “I’ve never seen you work so late. What’s the matter?”
He said, “I don’t want to talk about it, I’ve just spent the worst day of my life.”
She said, “You think you had a bad day, you’ll never believe what happened to me. This morning my golf pro dropped dead in the middle of my lesson!”
Thanks Martz. I’ve been having big trouble with my pc and this was a test run of some functions.
Hope it gets fixed soon.
Love the joke and did wanted others (esp. AMK) to see it.
LOL. Definitely didn’t see that punchline coming.
Hope all is well with your pc, soon, sailor — and that is funny!!!!
Chips, I thought you had “given up” posting PBO Naughty-Mat-Generating-Photos at least for this lent. Well that didn’t last long – just 3 days!!!!
Sister Campbell of Nuns on the Bus will now see you in the principal’s office at St Mary’s. I hope you have your rosary ready
What a crazy idea, gcl…. not everyone observes Lent…. 😳
How vile can these people be?? All that hate…how do they sleep at night?

This is beyond vile, all the way to hysterically funny.
President Obama playing tomorrow at The Medalist Club in Hobe Sound, Tiger Woods’ “practice course”, according to Palm Beach Post. Just asked golf addict mr. dotster —who said Tiger wasn’t playing in a tourney this weekend—-maybe he’s playing tomorrow with the pres? (probably not–just me wondering because of the choice of course)
Oh My!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – good morning from my world. What a collection of pics! I did love two the most
wave-riding – this guy can do anything – and look amazing – always
power lifting – if I wasn’t the other side of the world – that could be my grandbaby
And I did laugh at the gopsters – who do not fare well when photographed with their president
Mitching – the look on the turtle’s face
fly swatting – single handed
rodent taming – too perfect – trapped rodent cannot comprehend that his “books” are worthless
Please proceed – has retired to count his money – and watch FoxNews
http://twitpic.com/c4cmai (from squarepeg above)
Some one want to complain cause POTUS is off playing golf for two days. I told them to get back to me when you contact the House and Senate and complain about them being off for ten days.
And why is Marco “Poland Water” Rubio going to Israel and Jordon? To stay maybe??????
And why is one of the smallest nations in the world considered “the place to go” to get international experience?
Good question. Mitt Romney went to Israel after he diss London about the Olympics.
to cause trouble….
Bigger question – why is Rubio going there right before the President’s visit? Given that Rubio is still relatively new to the Senate, and hasn’t any credibility on domestic matters – let along foreign affairs – why is he sticking his nose into a very sensitive situation? These people drive me crazy! No thought given to the state of the world or the consequences of their actions – if it gets in the way of their political prospects.
X2
He’s their savior. Haven’t you heard? Bless their tiny hearts, they keep trying to prove themselves. They still haven’t figured out that most of the world doesn’t agree with their views and will not respond to their latest strawman with the admiration they’re hoping for.
Theo, as always, your commentary makes so much sense! Sometimes I sound like a broken record, but I still blame the U.S. media for letting people like Rubio off-the-hook? Let’s hope that Israelis, Palestinians and Jordanians, know that for the next four years they have to deal with President Obama and not with some junior Senator who is utterly clueless about foreign affairs.
Thanks for the kind words, nathkatun7! And I agree – whether or not Bibi and his cohorts like it, they have to deal with President Obama for the next four years. And the world sentiment is moving against them, not towards them. They better learn on which side their bread is buttered.
If Robme’s foreign trip was a 10 on the disaster scale, where on the scale do you think Water Rubio’s trip will register?
Uh, LS, the scale’s not calibrated that high. Romney had a lot of money and the potential at least of being POTUS. Anybody talking to Marco for two minutes will get what a light weight he is. I hope he’s tolerated and then politely dismissed to go home and play with his toys.
One day, I would like to see my favorite picture of POTUS with a baby. I can never find it when I search, and it doesn’t show up in collections. I believe they might have been in a high school gym or something. This baby looks like he’s about a month old. President Obama is cuddling him close to his chest The baby his turned to his right. There is just something so deeply touching to me. I stared at it for a long time when it was published and I kick myself that I didn’t save it.
The hawks were wrong: Iraq is worse off now
“On Saturday 15 February 2003, more than a million of us – students, toddlers, Christians, Muslims, nuns, Telegraph readers – gathered in Hyde Park for the biggest public demonstration in British history. “Not in my name,” we chanted, as a series of speakers – from Charles Kennedy to Jesse Jackson – lined up to denounce the impending invasion of Iraq.”
“So, Saddam is gone – but at what cost? Iraq has been destroyed and hundreds of thousands of innocent people have lost their lives, as the direct result of an unnecessary, unprovoked war that, according to the former chief justice Lord Bingham, was a “serious violation of international law”. “It was worse than a crime,” said the French diplomat Talleyrand, responding to the execution of the Duc d’Enghien by Napoleon; “it was a blunder.” Iraq turned Talleyrand’s aphorism on its head – it was worse than a blunder; it was a crime.”

We said NEVER AGAIN after Vietnam. We need to stop saying NEVER AGAIN and start enforcing our control over OUR government to be certain what our government did to the people of Vietnam and Iraq never happens. We know what we need to do. We proved in in 2008 and 2012. We must only get stronger in our commitment to do it again in 2014, 2016 and continuously thereafter.
Yes We Can
Bob4r you may enjoy this gem I saw the other day! Paul Bremmer “SHOED” like G.W.Bush was in Iraq. Its hilarious and in the U.K.
Why he is referred to as a US diplomat – when he is long out of this role – is beyond my knowledge. It seems even his own didn’t think much of his diplomacy. The British should have more sense (then again, some of their politicians supported GWB)
“Bremer is the largest single disaster in American foreign policy in modern times,” said former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.”
(quoted in wiki – with a further reference)
Just wish the guy had had better aim …. thank you LP!
It was a valiant effort Bob4r, he did get a few F*U’s in for good measure….
Bobfr, thanks for the excellent commentary and tweets. Our so called mainstream media may chose to suffer from self induced amnesia, but thank God we have people like you who are always reminding we the people about the TRUTH.
Thank you friend. We are all in this Together and we will never again be idle as others distort the truth.

Yes we can!
Ms Chips! Thanks so much for this incredible post of all my most favorite photos of PBO! I hope your kitty made it home.

That hit my funny bone! My friend and neighbor and I went to a hearing of our States DEQ. It was concerning a power plant to be constructed within five miles of our home. She is brilliant with props. The company claimed they were using the latest and greatest techniques in their building codes. They were fifty years old. She looked around her house and found something fifty years old. The black Manuel typewriter! She brought it and asked if any one wanted to go back in time to use this typewriter instead of their computers. No, but they got permission to proceed and it’s in operation. Must keep going Forward! 😉
I think those young men are beating their heads against a very hard brick wall. Good for you and your friend! What a great way to make a point. Even though not successful it was a good effort!
Hello Chips, TOD. I can’t post much anymore, but Chips…….you really ought to be ashamed of yourself for causing a near heart explosion here with that nude-y pic of PBO 😀 Try to give us a warning next time, will ya ? You see, I do try to see him as our President, and not just another hot bod ! But just….damn, he looks good. Alright, I’m going back to lurking. You all take care of yourselves. Love ya lots. 😀
A very decent family man in swimming trunks??? WTF? JA he’s fit ‘n’ trim ‘n’ handsome and looks GREAT. But swimming trunks at the pool or beach=nud-y??????
Chips will know I’m kidding !!
I went back to look at the pictures and burned my dinner. Can you say ‘distracted’? #ObamasFault
Cook first, get your plate and sit down and eat as you look at the pictures.
Some say eating burned food is good for the digestion…. 😕
Never heard it before, maybe I’ll try it.
It’s probably an “old wives’ tale” told by those who can’t really cook…

Our household philosophy.
Good rule.
Why is it that everything the R’s stand for is grounded in cruelty. They are completely without compassion. This bill will go nowhere, but I want to make sure a lot of women hear about it and Rubio’s sponsorship. Bills like these are a throwback to a time of patriarchal domination and make Rubio look like an old man–out of touch with the current world. How this moron got to be a senator is beyond me. He would be sadly under qualified as a rep to the Florida state house.
Pope Benedict’s decision to live in the Vatican after he resigns will provide him with security and privacy. It will also offer legal protection from any attempt to prosecute him in connection with sexual abuse cases around the world, Church sources and legal experts say.
“His continued presence in the Vatican is necessary, otherwise he might be defenseless. He wouldn’t have his immunity, his prerogatives, his security, if he is anywhere else,” said one Vatican official, speaking on condition of anonymity.
///
The final key consideration is the pope’s potential exposure to legal claims over the Catholic Church’s sexual abuse scandals.
In 2010, for example, Benedict was named as a defendant in a law suit alleging that he failed to take action as a cardinal in 1995 when he was allegedly told about a priest who had abused boys at a U.S. school for the deaf decades earlier. The lawyers withdrew the case last year and the Vatican said it was a major victory that proved the pope could not be held liable for the actions of abusive priests.
Benedict is currently not named specifically in any other case. The Vatican does not expect any more but is not ruling out the possibility.
“(If he lived anywhere else) then we might have those crazies who are filing lawsuits, or some magistrate might arrest him like other (former) heads of state have been for alleged acts while he was head of state,” one source said.
Another official said: “While this was not the main consideration, it certainly is a corollary, a natural result.”
Yeah, people who bring suit because their lives have been destroyed are crazies and the Vatican is now a place where popes can hide out so they won’t be subject to the law. Does the Vatican see how strange this is?
“I possess a device…” Actually: “I am OBSESSED with this device and do not notice people or the beauty of the planet or my child or almost anything because my eyes and fingers are engaged with the device nearly constantly in my waking hours. And I’m definitely not alone in my obsession. IIF ONLY I COULD CONTINUE WHEN I’M ASLEEP!
oh no. this made me snort with laughter 😀
Wanted to share this with all of you ….
Turner is one of the artists who has had the most inspirational impact on my artist wife.
#FORWARD Together
That was fun! I love Turner and I love the Tate. Also saw the entire Rothko collection there many years ago.
Bob, I think being an true artist is one of life’s greatest gifts. Of course it takes years of training, immense work and stern discipline, but the gift, the compulsion to create art–that really is a blessing. Your wife is very fortunate to have such talent.
Thank you Jackie! She is exceptional and ‘self-taught’ – takes various workshops but her art career began on a lunch break in the Spring of 1983 when she did a pencil sketch (in less than 30 min) of Andrew Wyeth’s famous 1955 painting of his son Nicholas (you can see the original on p.53 of this document from the Art Institute of Chicago http://www.artic.edu/sites/default/files/…/AIC1967AWyeth_comb.pdf). That treasured sketch I see every morning as I awake because it, along with several other early sketches she did, is in a mounted collage we have in our bedroom). She totally conveyed not only the quality of the painting but you literally feel as if Nicholas is sitting there waiting for his dad to finish 🙂
Enjoyed the art history. Thanks for sharing. Where is the Tate museum?
RWNJs going insane over leaked WH immigration proposal. LOLz.
It’s been over four years, the GOP think we should forget the crisis GW left this country in.
Majority of Americans know the truth and will never forget the damage GWB did to America. That awareness is only growing, not declining and it is each of our responsibility to make sure no one ever forgets or is allowed to revise the truth.
Yes We Can
And alot of those same Republicans who are all of a sudden talking about debt , didn’t say a dam thing about debt from 2000-2008.
Amen. We can’t rely on any one else to do it. WE have to make sure no one ever forgets.
Who’s going to watch the Rachel Maddow special Monday night about how GW and Cheney lied this country into the Iraq war.
I plan to watch. With copious glasses of wine to keep my blood pressure in check.
You won’t be alone. Save me a spot and a glass. 😀
😉
If you get this amk, could you tell me why my tweeters I follow and follow me can not retweet my tweets? Support is down. I tweeted my problem but don’t know if or when they’ll tweet back. I rarely post, but I’m always retweeting people here. Here’s a down payment. 💰 Can you see the money bag?
How do you know your followers are unable to RT you? Did they tell you?
Yes, one did. I tweeted support and it’s working this morning. 😀
btw, I just RT’ed you.
Now about that money bag? I don’t take nickels.
Thank you. 💸
We were in Chicago yesterday for the Chicago Auto Show and did *not* know that PBO was going to be there. I know, I know – but I’ve been kind of off the grid lately. Anyhow – I wanted to check with you experts or Chicago residents about whether PBO passed anywhere near McCormick Place? I heard that PBO landed at O’Hare and then took a chopper to “downtown” – but where? We got to McCormick Place around 11AM and some access points that we normally would have taken were mysteriously blocked off. I know he spoke about 6-7 miles from there, but did he pass near the Auto show? Just curious (and sorry I missed him. He probably won’t be coming to Iowa as much now there’s no election to worry about).
Absolutely brilliant tweet!
There is a special place in hell for Chuck Todd.
Compares Senator Warren to Senator Cruz, Chuck Todd is a bold face liar.
Calling Chuck Todd a GOP apologist is being overly generous. Chuck Todd, in my opinion, is a GOP propagandist masquerading as a journalist.

I know this was meant as a joke, but I’m not sure I appreciate the humor and what it implies.
That is really VILE …
Exactly. If you’re elevating Beyonce in her own right, why do it at the expense of President Obama, his wife and children?
No you know me, I don’t fine it funny either. Not one bit.
That’s terrible.
Um, NO.
The tweet has been deleted – I guess we weren’t the only ones who found it offensive.
hopefruit2, You dam right it was offensive. And you don’t force anyone to do anything. They have a choice to fall in love with who they chose to fall in love with.
Sorry, if this is a joke it’s totally in poor taste! I don’t know about any one else, but this joke is not funny to me. President Obama and Beyonce are not our pets.
Rubio: Reported Obama immigration plan ‘dead on arrival’
By JENNIFER EPSTEIN | 2/16/13 10:01 PM EST
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Saturday that President Obama’s immigration plan will be “dead on arrival” on Capitol Hill if it looks like the proposal reported by USA Today.
“If actually proposed, the president’s bill would be dead on arrival in Congress, leaving us with unsecured borders and a broken legal immigration system for years to come,” said Rubio, who’s seen as a key figure in pushing a bipartisan immigration bill through the Senate.
A White House spokesman told POLITICO earlier Saturday that the administration continues to support a bipartisan plan from the Hill and has not produced a final bill to send to Congress. But Rubio’s statement is combative, accusing Obama of releasing a proposal without getting Republican input.
“It’s a mistake for the White House to draft immigration legislation without seeking input from Republican members of Congress,” Rubio said.
“President Obama’s leaked immigration proposal is disappointing to those of us working on a serious solution. The president’s bill repeats the failures of past legislation. It fails to follow through on previously broken promises to secure our borders, creates a special pathway that puts those who broke our immigration laws at an advantage over those who chose to do things the right way and come here legally, and does nothing to address guest workers or future flow, which serious immigration experts agree is critical to preventing future influxes of illegal immigrants.”
“Much like the president’s self-described ‘stop gap’ Deferred Action measure last year, this legislation is half-baked and seriously flawed,” Rubio added. “It would actually make our immigration problems worse, and would further undermine the American people’s confidence in Washington’s ability to enforce our immigration laws and reform our broken immigration system.

DOA??? Everything not getting through, we need to throw them out in 2014.
A very important election. I hope Democrats don’t sit home on their laurels?
This is what has Rubio pissed off? 😦
By JENNIFER EPSTEIN | 2/16/13 8:03 PM EST
The White House is insisting that President Obama remains engaged in working with the Senate to generate bipartisan immigration legislation, even as USA Today reported Saturday on the details of what it says is a draft bill from the administration.
Provisions include creating an eight-year path to residency for undocumented immigrants and permitting immigrants to apply for lawful prospective immigrant visas, the paper said, citing a document the paper said it obtained from an administration official. The bill would also call for more border patrol agents and add 140 immigration judges to the bench to speed up the process of adjudicating cases.
The White House would not confirm the proposals outlined in USA Today’s report or say whether they represented current administration positions. Obama has said that he has his own immigration bill but will only send it to Congress if lawmakers are “unable to move forward in a timely fashion.”
But Obama is still giving Congress more time.
“The president has made clear the principles upon which he believes any commonsense immigration reform effort should be based,” spokesman Clark Stevens said in a statement to POLITICO that matched the one he gave to USA Today. “We continue to work in support of a bipartisan effort, and while the president has made clear he will move forward if Congress fails to act, progress continues to be made and the administration has not prepared a final bill to submit.”
Obama has shown a willingness to work with Congress and hosted four Senate Democrats working with Republicans on a bill — Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin, Michael Bennet and Bob Menendez — at the White House on Wednesday.
The measures reported by USA Today are widely accepted and have gotten bipartisan support align with ideas that have gained support in previous pushes for immigration reform. They fit with the immigration proposal Obama put forward in May 2011 and with positions that Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and other Republicans have endorsed going back more than half a decade. The eight-year path to residency is one piece that hasn’t been public before.
I think that Time Magazine cover has gone to that little punk Marco Rubio’s head. He think he is some big shot. NOT!!!!!!!!!
He’s a clown which has mad people laugh, look at the rebuttal speech Tuesday
Let’s remember Rubio is Cuban. His parents could become citizens immediately. Lets change that. See if he makes noise.
Quick note: in honour of PBO’s golf vacation, I went to the driving range and hit a bucket of balls; visualized mcpain, windygrahamcracker, and miscelaneous and sundry other rwnjs; 20 out of 30 were smack in the face!
Humour: driving range near rifle range, gunshots heard; thanked God I was in Canada! lolol
Barb – I want to yell Fore or Timber or Play Ball or something, but I’m not an outdoor person – just allow me to congratulate you, big time, for taking ’em out on the driving range! What a great idea. And I love your pet names for the … er … targets!
shiver me timbers….and please excuse my spelling error on miscellaneous
You’re excused. Ha! And shiver me timbers, too. Or something like that! Goodnight to ya, BCFF.
original comment should read: windsygwayumquacker
That’s better! Ha!
The weather permits you to go to driving range in Feb in Canada? Lucky you. But we have warm days too, but not that warm. Enjoy! 😀
I live in Vancouver; we seldom see snow
Oh, beautiful Vancouver.
Just got done watching the Beyonce documentary. It was very good. I highly recommend it.
Didn’t see it tonight, but I’m sure they will replay it.
I might check it out to if it comes on again, what channel did it come on? Some channels I don’t have.
HBO.
I don’t have HBO channel.

Happy Anniversary to Debbie and her husband.
Did you guys see this? I wondered why the guy got so ecstatic at that phrase.

For whatever the reason, MSNBC thinks Chuck Todd is good at what he do, so they will never get rid of him.
Well, I won’t even TRY to catch up on everything. Just got back from a very good dinner, after spending way too much time in getting up to Paso Robles. About to stock up on water and ice, read, and hit the hay for a day of wine and cheese. Check y’all out in the morning!
Dear Chips,
On considerable reflection of the event, this past week, of Jimmy Carter IV meeting President Obama, it is important to remember that whomever the courageous person is that recorded the Boca Raton #BainMitt catastrophe, it was only when that person, months after first posting the intentionally obscured segments of the video on YouTube in May, 2012, that the same person posted again under the assumed name of ‘Rachel Maddow’ that catalyzed many to begin paying attention.
It was UT who brought that video to the attention of the TOD community and you featured it. Of course, for all the correct (reality-based reasons) folk here were dutifully skeptical, but it seemed highly probable that it really was #BainMitt spewing his plutocratic nonsense to an assembly of similarly avaricious, wicked elitists. What captured my attention and that of many, way beyond the comments about the #47Percent that President Obama’s organization focused and that truly sunk #BainMitt, were his comments about a concentration camp of female slave laborers that he described callously and that exposed just how heartless, how cruel a creature he is.
Indeed, #BainMitt owned and then expanded ownership in Global Tech Appliances – the precise female slave labor concentration camp he was recorded describing.
When David Corn made the first release of a significantly higher quality version of the video those segments were absent. Within 24h, however, he updated the Mother Jones site with the complete version.
I bring this to your and the entire TOD community’s attention because way beyond the blatant disregard for most Americans that #BainMitt’s 47% percent segment revealed, he also revealed just how coldly, how brutally detached he and his fellow plutocrats are from exploiting slaves, be they female Asian slaves or whomever.
You have in your TOD archives all the posts, tweets, comments, etc relevant to this issue. For the sake of perfecting not only our Union but eradicating slavery, of any form, please preserve that archive. I think David Corn has actually missed the core evil of that video and perhaps you and he can collaborate on telling the story of a candidate for the Presidency of the United States of America who would have been the envy of Senator Jefferson Davis and every slave owner in pre-Emancipaton Proclamation (and since) America.
Thank you for all you have created, enabled and nurtured at TOD. You have my complete admiration.
Yes We Can
Democracy is the anti-thesis of plutocracy. We must never relent in the struggle against the avaricious few.
Yes We Can
In other words – ZERO surprise GOP is anti-VAWA, anti-PayCheckFairness, anti-PlannedParenthood …. anti-WOMEN. White male plutocrats know, at the very depths of their central nervous system, that they have ZERO chance of surviving, let alone continuing to exploit, if women prevail.
Bottom line – PREVAIL WOMEN (you’ve got lots of support from us males who have a clue and are not in any way threatened by the notion that EVERY PERSON is endowed ‘with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.’
Let’s Make It So.
Yes We Can
wow bob thanks! RT’d
Bobfr, You are amazing! You truly exemplify the most admirable human qualities: empathy, truth telling, hard work, persistence, caring, and thoughtfulness. I wish I had you as my doctor. In any case, I just wanted to say thank you for this commentary, and for all your other commentaries, tweets, letters, and wisdom you’ve shared with us. Speaking for myself, I am blessed to have found you because, though we’ve never met in person, you’ve been quite an inspiration.
nath, it’s been a total pleasure getting to know you and I’ll always be grateful to Chips for enabling us to meet one another as well as the many fine people who contribute.
Hope you have a pleasant Sunday.

I hope we don’t forget that the Republican Party agree exactly with what Mitt “47%” Romney were saying. Please don’t be fool that beliefs were just coming from Mitt Romney’s mouth.
Because they weren’t.

Thanks for all you do Chips and TOD. Good night.
Dearest Chips ~ YOU ARE AMAZING ~ I really hope that President Obama knows about you- that you are a Community Leader in your own right, and that you do a great service for us all. I’m so grateful for the work you put in here, to round up the facts.. the love for all of us to share… and I don’t think you’ve missed a day in what- 4-5 years. My heart is full, thank YOU.
