Today:
10:15: The President and Vice President receive the Presidential Daily Briefing
9:0: The President delivers the State of the Union Address
****
CNN: President Obama will announce in the State of the Union speech that a year from now, 34,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan will have returned home, reducing the number of U.S. troops in the country by half, sources say.

Washington Post: When she set out to her local library in North Miami to cast her vote in the presidential election last year, Desiline Victor had no way of knowing the journey would lead all the way to the White House.
On Tuesday night, Victor, a 102-year-old Haitian immigrant, will sit in the ornate House chamber as a guest of first lady Michelle Obama to listen to President Obama’s State of the Union address.
Victor voted for the president, but it was not easy. On her first visit to the polls on the morning of Oct. 28, the first day of early voting, she waited in line for three hours. Poll workers eventually advised her to come back later, and she did.
….. The whirlwind trip has taken Victor out of her element. She had to buy a coat, since a heavy winter jacket isn’t usually needed in balmy Miami. And here, she’s “Ms. Victor” instead of “Granny”….
But when she meets the president, perhaps the address may be less formal. Victor already feels a kinship with the commander in chief.
“I call him ‘my son,’ ” she says. “I feel like he is my son.”

Steve Benen: …. I don’t much care about Nugent’s ridiculous antics. He’s obviously a fringe extremist who uses vile language; he hasn’t had a hit since the ’70s; and he’s generally better left ignored.
But Nugent has also gone after President Obama with rhetoric that was violent enough to get the attention of the Secret Service. Try to imagine the political world’s reaction if a washed-up entertainer targeted a Republican president with violent rhetoric, and then a Democratic member of Congress invited him as a special guest to attend the State of the Union.
…. Republicans find themselves in the awkward position of having two GOP senators delivering post-SOTU speeches, and while they’re speaking, a musician/right-wing clown will be hosting a press conference on Capitol Hill, which seems likely to become a distracting spectacle …. If the GOP intends to stop being, in Bobby Jindal’s words, the “stupid party,” they have a long way to go.

Chicago Sun Times: When President Barack Obama turns to gun violence during his State of the Union speech Tuesday, he will likely look up at Michelle Obama’s box in the House chamber and acknowledge the grieving Chicago parents of slain teen Hadiya Pendleton.
Pendleton’s folks, Cleopatra and Nathaniel, through tragedy, are the latest symbols of why Obama is pushing Congress to take measures to stop gun-related bloodshed.
…. Mrs. Obama took a very unusual action for a first lady last Saturday, returning home to the South Side for Hadiya’s funeral …. Asking Hadiya’s folks to be her State of the Union guests in her box is extraordinary follow-through – but makes perfect sense, because at her core, Mrs. Obama is very, very proud of being a South Sider ….. Hadiya was killed on Mrs. Obama’s turf and she is doing something about it.
….. Rep. Bobby Rush – whose son, Huey, was shot and killed during a 1999 holdup – was also at Hadiya’s funeral …. “I saw the face of the first lady and I saw the pain in her face.”….
….. Hadiya, as her parents know – and the nation will see on Tuesday night – is not a statistic. She is a teen we should not have lost.

NYT: A sharp and surprisingly persistent slowdown in the growth of health care costs is helping to narrow the federal deficit, leaving budget experts trying to figure out whether the trend will last and how much the slower growth could help alleviate the country’s long-term fiscal problems.
In figures released last week, the Congressional Budget Office said it had erased hundreds of billions of dollars in projected spending on Medicare and Medicaid. The budget office now projects that spending on those two programs in 2020 will be about $200 billion, or 15 percent, less than it projected three years ago. New data also show overall health care spending growth continuing at the lowest rate in decades for a fourth consecutive year.

Michael Tomasky: …. At John Brennan’s CIA confirmation hearing last week, which came right after the leak of the controversial Justice Department memo about the targeting of U.S. citizens, Sen. Dianne Feinstein said that the Senate was reviewing proposals for special courts to oversee the program. At least that way, this awesome power to determine that a U.S. citizen had forfeited his right to due process by joining an enemy army wouldn’t repose in one person. Then on Saturday, The New York Times noted that President Obama has been considering exactly this move…..
….. Given all this, the best that citizens can do is decide which candidate and party they’d rather trust with this power. I’m not turning somersaults at the idea of any president having it. But you better believe I’d rather have Obama possess it than George Bush or John McCain or Mitt Romney. Talk of this sort is the highest form of apostasy to your purer civil libertarians, who urge us to think only in terms of the office. But men (and hopefully soon women) hold that office, and it’s not just OK for citizens to assess their character and their levels of paranoia, it’s a duty…..

The man is a genius. No, not Bush, Colbert:
TPM: Stephen Colbert on Monday took at look at information apparently obtained by a hacker who revealed email correspondence and photos from the Bush family.
“You see, President Clinton has his global initiative against poverty, and Jimmy Carter may have his Habitat for Humanity. But now we’ve learned that George W. Bush has been hard at work painting self-portraits in the shower ….. That is a bold, artistic vision that says ‘faces are hard,’” Colbert said of the shower painting. “But, folks, it’s not like the President sits around all day painting shower portraits. He also did one taking a bath. Because after a hard day’s painting in the shower, there’s nothing like a relaxing paint in the tub.”

MooOOoooooOOorning!
Hola!!!!!!!!!!!! GM all
Morning Mellesia and Desertflower, both logging in at 9:11!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO close:) Congrats, Mellesia!
Thanks D, lets call it a tie I am willing to share
You earned this one all on your own! You definitely deserve the honor:) I was most amazed by the 6 way tie I was part of the other day….now THAT was a sharing first:)
Americans of all partisan stripes overwhelmingly support drone attacks against suspected terrorists, a poll released Tuesday from CBS News showed.
Seventy-one percent of Americans — including 78 percent of Republicans and 70 percent of Democrats — said they support the use of drones against suspected terrorists. Only 20 percent of respondents said they are opposed.
There goes THAT talking point!
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/cbs-poll-broad-bipartisan-support-for-drone-program
Finally! I noticed Maddowdid not talk bout it last night. Maybe our pushback got to her.
I read somewhere that her ratings dropped last Wed, Thur and Friday. That’s the reason she put a lid on it. Money talks.
That’s good. It gives us POWER. We should always push back the stupid and ridiculous to get them to move on to topics that really matter.
Bill Press was backing off his over the top opposition this morning by saying his concern is with future POTUS’s and not PBO. Will Rachael and Ed not be far behind?
How about we work our butt’s off to make sure a neo-con doesn’t take over the White House?
Seriously though, its not just a Republican prez we have to worry about. President Obama has very good judgement (you will hear others refer to it as luck). It’s a trust that he’s earned over time. Its not something we can say for all Democrats.
This is my point exactly. Sure, this is an awesome power to have, but who do you trust more with it?
I sure as hell don’t the trust the GOP with this. Their track record is apalling.
This is true. I certainly wouldn’t be as comfortable with a drone program from any other President who didn’t have the integrity and character of President Obama – and the President has earned that trust. Never mind that President Obama himself actually called for Congress to reign him in, and future Presidents, with some strong guidance via legislation/oversight.
I also love your point about the attempts to nullify President Obama’s good judgement by those not fit to even assess his judgement.
Eff’em!
Am I third, fourth or fifth? Good morning.
Morning all! Thanks Chips!
I think that it will be pretty comical to see what post SOTU gets the air play tonight…the TP talkers (BOTH of them) of the certifiable nutbag, Nugent? I think they really screwed the pooch on this one:)
so sotu, huh?
I love Granny! “I call him ‘my son,’ ” she says. “I feel like he is my son.”
Can’t wait to see the pictures from the reception & SOTU.
Morning everyone!
good morning allll and happy tuesday, I’m so looking forward to POTUS’ speech tonight- I will ignore the gop, the media and poopy pants. President Barack Obama will be in the house and the hell with all the other BS.
GM, Mellesia…..congrats for being #1!
Enjoy your day everyone here. Tonight will be a night to remember. I can’t wait to see our President swat some more flies.
PROCEED, MR. PRESIDENT……
Good morning Chips, TOD, lurkers, etc! Congrats melissa and df on #1! 🙂
Does anyone know when PBO will be doing the Google + hangout?
Morning Hopefruit! I think that’s on Thursday, will check now.
Yep, it’s on Thursday at 4:30 ET
http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2013/02/11/state-union-2013-president-obamas-speech-just-beginning
Thanks Chips! Do you know that Mark Knoller/CBS are copying our President (and trying to outdo him) with their “Google +Hangout” tonight right after the SOTU address?
Aw, four more years Markie, get over it 😉
LMAO! – was just about to post this tweet – very good amk! Knoller has been extraordinarily aggravating on Twitter this morning – even for him…
Who are the maroons who rt and fav his stupid tweets?
GOPers, Romney supporters, other Twits working at CBS, Chuck Todd, who knows?
Who even would follow him? I mean, he could be collapsed if everyone just unfollowed, and that would be newsworthy. So eff’ing b.o.r.i.n.g….. And Good Morning y’all! 😉
EXCELLENT! http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2013/02/12/1575341/6-facts-you-must-know-before-watching-obamas-state-of-the-union/
By the way, these guys have THE BEST live blogging….I suggest that all of us look over there tonight:) They always fact check and do an awesome job.
yup, dkos is the pits while TP is the juice.
🙂
It’s a good day! http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/02/12/us-usa-abortion-arizona-idUSBRE91A15920130212
A federal judge has overturned an Arizona law that sought to block funding through the state for Planned Parenthood’s healthcare clinics because the group also performs abortions.
U.S. District Court Judge Neil Wake ruled that the controversial measure signed into law last May by Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, a Republican, unlawfully robs individuals on Medicaid of the ability to choose healthcare services.
“The Arizona Act violates the freedom of choice provision of the Medicaid Act precisely because every Medicaid beneficiary has the right to select any qualified health care provider,” Wake ruled in a decision released on Friday.
Excellent. It would be interesting to see how many teahadists governors’ “laws” have been overturned by the courts as compared to the dems.
BRAVO! Thx df for sharing this good news!!
That is indeed good news – if Arizona can fall, maybe the rest of the states can follow. One has HOPE. And I have more hope now after this election – I think the tide is slowly turning.
Chips, the thought of trying to sort out the world without benefit of TheObamaDiary
has me seeing all over again this morning how I depend on you and others here and ~you~
to stay sane and empowered and effective and engaged and enlivened as a citizen.
As a person. I could go on. Thank you for creating this space. Forward.
You’re so lovely Sara, thank you! If it wasn’t for the folk here, I’d be completely in the dark too!
Sara speaks for me!!
And me!!
Good morning Ms. Chips and TOD family I hope everyone have a happy SOTU day. Congrats Mellesia on being first this lovely Tuesday morning.
Mooooooorning Ranman, have a blissful SOTU day too!
Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family. Its SOTU Tuesday and I’m IN!
I don’t recall Knoller coming up with this piece of crap of a idea when GW was in office.
Don’t know if he has, but others have in the past. In fact, some SOTUs in the past have been written reports. This is not something to get our pants in a wad about. This is not a jab at PBO.
That Knoller tweet didn’t bother me too much Japa, but this one said it all:
I am not saying Knoller isn’t an idiot. And of course Bush showed the era of big government wasn’t over. Fortunately, PBO is working to end big government and replace it with effective government.
And I can’t believe Knoller doesn’t remember Bush’s “Axis of evil” quote. To be honest, I can’t give you any specific quote from any of PBO’s SOTUs.
I know what you’re saying Japa, I just think Knoller, when he’s in one of his moods on Twitter, reveals his politics pretty spectacularly, like in this case. I honestly don’t think he sees any distinction between ‘big’ and ‘efficient’ government, he’s a conservative at heart who just has contempt for government getting involved in any aspect of people’s lives, even when it’s for the good – as it so often is. And that fuels his endlessly snarky commentary on PBO.
He’s not even just a conservative – he’s a right winger! He misinforms, twists stuff and presents lies as facts.
Absolutely Theo, and still he’s portrayed by so many as the neutral numbers guy …..

What about that “Axis of Evil” thingy Mark?
Ah yes, good question Carla!
Marco Rubio is a principle liar and a dim-wit that’s 2-watts birghter than Sarah Palin. He’s a beltway media creation like Paul Ryan. How did that work out for them.
Yesterday on DailyRunDown, Susan Page with USA Today, made one of the most asinine statements I’ve heard in a long time. She said Marco Rubio was similar to President Obama. I surely called her a#$ out about that foolish remark.
Susan Page is so typical of the MSM. One minor but defining difference in bios: PBO’s wife is a Princeton and Harvard Law graduate. Rubio’s wife was a Miami Dolphins cheerleader. Who is a better role model for young women?
Well Bill, my Mom always preach to her to reach for my goals, be the best you can be,she said. Be a half dress NFL cheerleader. No disrespect to cheerleaders, but the best role model for young women, is Mrs. Michelle Obama. I don’t care who knows it, I am not a fan of Susan Page.
should have read Marco Rubio is an unprinciple liar………………………………………..
You had me worried there Ranman, I thought you might be a Rubio fan! 🙂 Kidding!!
That was the first thing I said Ms. Chips, TOD is going to think I’m that dim-wits fan. 😀 😀
We’d just have assumed you were hacked Ranman, you’re far too smart to admire that creature!!!!
Actually, Ranman was correct the first time. One of Rubio’s basic principles is to lie.
A fair point Japa!
Never fails…..anytime PBO is scheduled to speak in front of the American people Mark Knoller has a melt down.
Poor man is still struggling to come to terms with Four More Years, Symmetry, not sure he’ll ever get over it. Bless.
I wonder what Mark Knoller’s favorite number is…….
He clearly has a numbers fetish. He is always tallying up stuff that no body cares about. He spends way too much time counting things related to President Obama.
He reminds me of the Sesame Street character known as “Count von Count”. The Count has a love of counting; he will count anything and everything, regardless of size, amount, weird choices he makes or how much annoyance he is causing the other Muppets or human cast.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Count_von_Count
Count von Count, perfect Ladyhawke!!! We should call him that from now on!
Unlike Count Von Count, Knoller only counts when he wants to put PBO in a bad light. I have never, ever seen Knoller counting the number of EO taken by dubya, the amt of vacation days he took or time spent playing golf, etc., or the number of jobs lost under Bush’s presidency, the amount of debt incurred during his 8 years, etc.
I have never seen Knoller count the unprecedented number of filibusters from the GOP since PBO took office, or the number of PBO nominees that are still waiting to be confirmed, or the increase in death threats, or racist rants on the Internet since PBO took office. I’ve never seen Knoller count the number of years of tax returns that Mitt Romney didn’t release, or how much money he shifted to Cayman Islands bank accounts, or how many times he refused to answer questions from the press.
Mark Knoller does not have a numbers fetish per se – he has an Obama Derangement Syndrome which he tries to disguise by excessive use of trivial data points.
Imagine me turning on the tv this morning and seeing Charlie Roses wasting our time with that horrible man Dick Cheney. Why all of a sudden have he come out of the skunk’s hole. Cheney don’t get it, he is just making people hate him even more.
And the media knows all Cheney is going to do is sing the same old I hate Obama song, but that is fine with them. Or maybe deep down they think Cheney in his old age might confess to his crimes he committed when he was VP.
I’m glad Cheney hates the President. He shot his best friend in the face, so the people he hates should be safe.
🙂 Dakota? I love you!
LOL! I wuvs you too Chips!
My guess on why Cheney is out, he can’t stand the thought that he is out of power. He is probably shilling for gun manufactures.
Annie – I always have evil thoughts about Cheney when he makes the news – like when is that heart going to burst?
Blondegrrl! That’s outrageous! (And I feel the same!)
Umm, what did the President do wrong anyways?
The Press has been all over his ass for weeks now. I mean, they have so much against him, but they are turning little stuff into gigantic stuff and also making shit up.
You would have thought, that this President has killed one of their family members with the way they are carrying on.
It’s just leaves me shaking my head, every time they talk about Him.
I just don’t know!
Jovie, he’s popular. He won big. They can’t stand that and are doing everything in their power to take him “down a notch or two.” They haven’t got a clue as to why this president connects with people. Even now, they think it’s some kind of bubble that will burst if they poke at it long enough. The have not the smallest idea how people have taken PBO and his family into their hearts. Clueless, self-obsessed, paid for morons is what they are.
He beat Romney when he wasn’t supposed to – as far as they are concerned. That’s why they’re all over him (and in an obsessive kind of way). They have tried their hardest to tear him down and they failed. That’s why they will not let it go.
Jovie, I often ask myself the same question. My only conclusion is that the teevee and traditional newspaper market consumers are dominated by old white people. They are playing to what they think their market wants to hear. Example: Last night Erin Burnett on CNN had a lengthy piece on Ted Nugent being interviewed on his farm with his guns.
President Obama makes the feckless media feel small and irrelevant. In their heart of hearts they know he is smarter than all of them and there is no one in the Republican Party who can hold a candle to President Obama. So they use their power to set the narrative as a means of making things difficult for PBO. In the process they reveal their own weaknesses, insecurities and bias. Their first obligation is to tell the truth to the American people. But they can’t handle the truth because telling the truth just makes President Obama look good. And we can’t have that. So journalistic integrity goes out the window. Hence the constant search for the negative angle to any story related to President Obama. It really gets interesting when there is an attempt to blame President Obama for things that he had nothing to do with.
Ladyhawke, I a nutshell you have laid out the problem. So simple and so true.
Notice how the viciousness turned a little more vicious ever since the White House announced that President Obama would be campaigning and helping with the selection of 2014 candidates? They know what a juggernaut he is, and they don’t want to lose the House. It’s as simple as that. They have nothing.
No matter how many years and occasions go by, I still get anxious flutters whenever PBO gives a major speech. PBO always delivers beautifully and above even the highest expectations, but I’m like a nervous mom in the audience. Am I alone in this? I expect nothing but disrespect from the Republicans, although they sure try to curry favor when they get to shake his hand as he moves to the podium, but I want all of the Democrats to behave and enthusiastically support him. I’ve lost all tolerance for wishy washy Dems. They have a part to play tonight and they’d better do it well. I am so looking forward to the day that Nancy sits behind him in the Speaker’s seat. Can’t stand to see that awful Boehner mug hog the screen.
You are not alone Jackie. We are so emotionally invested in this President that we treat him like one of our own sometimes. I don’t mean to be hyperbolic but I do feel like the whole country gets into a state of some sort (excitement, anticipation, fear, arousal, etc) whenever he has to make a major speech. The entire globe is invested emotionally in this President.
This is true.
2014, do our best to get Nancy Pelosi sitting up there with VP Biden as POTUS give the SOTU speech.
If John Boehner was worth anything he would have went to that Congressman and told him to not invite Ted Nugent. But Boehner has no respect or control over his animal racists House.
I agree. He could stop it if he wished. He could tell Stockman to disinvite Nugent, or he is moving his Congressional office to the parking lot.
I just get the feeling that even is Boehner was so inclined to ask that Nugent be uninvited, he’d only be ignored. If he doesn’t ask, he can’t be refused.
Jackie, I’m usually more concern about the foolish a$# republicans in the audience than PBO. President Obama is blessed with great wisdom and because of that I’m comfort that he will do very well.
Excited for the SOTU, excited for the conference call with POTUS.
The Repubs have signed on to make this night a circus for themselves and it only digs their hole deeper. No way to dig out of this unholy mess.
Yes, the conference call. I had not thought about it this morning. Thanks for reminding me. 🙂
WOW, WOW, WOW, these guys are genius! Check this out:
Huh, is that the SOTU speech leaked????
UPDATE!! Phhhhhheeeeeeew, it’s the 2012 speech 😳
No, yeah I had the same heart attack!! Macon would be bacon.
I almost wept Meta!!!!! Pheeeeeeeew!
Macon!
I am so looking forward to tonight! I will be celebrating our wonderful POTUS and sending up a TY for not having President Romney’s smirk on my TV.
And so thankful we don’t have to look up in the First Lady box and see Ann Romney and all her milliionaire friends sitting up there. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How could I forget about Queen Ann 🙂
Fortunately, it’s really easy. 😉
Thank God.
Dow Jones over 14000 once again. Thank you, President Obama!
Wow, what a chart!
You should follow this guy on twitter. He’s from media matters. His tweets ALWAYS crack me up.
I do and have interacted with him a couple of times. He’s freaking hilarious.
My Ct. daughter and the entire state of Ct. are mad that the movie Lincoln makes a big error portraying the state of Ct. as voting against the 13th Amendment to end slavery. The proud liberal state of Ct., whose 4 member House delegation, all voted to end slavery of course. They don’t want to be depicted as being on the wrong side of history, to be lumped in with the dumb states. They want that fact changed before the movie goes to DVD. I don’t blame them. Screenwriteer has admitted the error.
http://courtney.house.gov/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6788:courtney-statement-on-kushner-concession-that-lincoln-got-it-wrong-on-connecticut-votes&catid=49:press&Itemid=300131
Good grief Dotster, what a mistake to make. Bizarre.
CT pride for you 🙂
Read (saw?) an interview with the screenwriter who tried to explain that since he changed the names of the CT legislators to fictious ones, it didn’t really matter. He did it for dramatic effect, he claimed, but didn’t bother to explain why he just didn’t use the real roll call of votes.
Bizarre, and lazy, yes?
Risen indeed since 6:33am! Shining? Will get back to you later on that. G’Morning, TODobots and Mayoress Chips. The way I have it figured, I’d better start shining before 9pm tonight because I want to catch the SOTU live.
Happy Tuesday, and happy GOP Shut – Up Day!
Shine on Golden Girl!!! Morning VC!
Morning, CC, love! Trying to polish up my shine, but the result of the friction isn’t showing just yet. Nice to see your great
smileshine as usual, though. 😉 😉Are you all ready for later, or do you still have to ‘cook’ the cheesy puffs?
There you go with the Betty White only smarter comparison again.
My courage knows no bounds, Japa!!
Man oh man I’m super excited for this SOTU and the issues that will be addressed. 34K troops coming back home earlier than expected, addressing the horrible voter suppression tactics of 2012, gun violence and gun safety, immigration reform, jobs, education, etc. and his vision for the second term and the future.
It’s going to be one heck of a game changer!
Can’t wait for it UT, it seems like a dream to have a President on the ‘good’ side of every single issue!
Four Catholic men and a Catholic woman were having coffee.
The first Catholic man tells his friends: “My son is a priest. When he walks into a room, everyone calls him Father.”
The second Catholic man chirps: “My son is a bishop. When he walks into a room people call him Your Grace.”
The third Catholic gent says: “My son is a cardinal. When he enters a room everyone says Your Eminence.”
The fourth Catholic man chirps: “My son is the Pope. When he walks into a room people call him Your Holiness.”
Since the lone Catholic woman was sipping her coffee in silence, the four men give her a subtle, “Well …?”
She replies: “I have a gorgeous daughter. When she walks into a room, people say,… Oh God!”
Gunnite folks
😆 Night you!!!
amk – this is your best one yet!
This from a conservative. 😆
Republicans are behaving like they’re in grade school. And even grade school students have more sense and respect than these people who are members of the US Congress. This tweet should tell the GOP something – that if their own conservatives are publicly mocking them, then they may have gone over the cliff.
Richard engle Engle likes to fear Monger. He just said that the North Koreans exploded a miniature Nuke. And this will allow them to put this in their ICBMs.
That’s quite a statement! No sources, just a Blanket statement.
How does he know?
He’s not far off base on this one (although I find his emotions often color his objectivity). this is a step in that direction.
You are so right Chips. Colin Romesha is a heart stealer. I could watch him all day.
Morning, AlmaB! He is, but I couldn’t do the all day watch; I’d get tired following him around even if just with my eyes. 😀
THE GASBAG PUNDITS AND THEIR INSTANT ANALYSIS OF THE STAT OF THE UNION
My pre-emptive SotU rant……..
I just have to get this off my chest. Every time President Obama gives a SotU speech everybody and his brother feels compelled to give advice on what he should and should not say, how he should say it, how long he should take to say it, and with which inflections. Should he be Dad, should he be angry, should he be positive, should he cry, should he be forceful, should he reach out to the GOP, should he focus on a few major topics or provide a laundry list of issues, on and on ad nauseum.
Then after all of the flapping of the gums has stopped the gasbags will sit on their perches and provide their “INSTANT ANALYSIS” of the speech. The only thing that will be missing is the OLYMPIC style numbering system. Can’t you just imagine Tweety saying tonight (while holding up up a placard with a big “7” on it) saying …… I give President Obama’s performance a 7 out of 10 because blah blah blah?? Spare me. I will be watching on whitehouse.gov and plan to participate in the conference call.
We don’t need any gasbags to tell President Obama what to say or to tell us what we should think about what he said. We can think for ourselves and we trust President Obama to say what needs to be said. He is going to provide a bit of truth for the American people. And sadly, there will be many Americans who will be saying to themselves “Gee, I didn’t know that” because the freaking media is not doing their job of providing he facts. They are too busy looking for the negative angle to every story about President Obama and carrying water for the GOP.
(end rant)
Righteous rant Ladyhawke and 100% spot on! 🙂
Good morning Ladyhawke and everyone. Yesterday, I took a break from most of the shows because they all had the “HE NEEDS TO DO THIS” parts of their shows. It never fails, no matter what PBO does.
He IS the President of the United States; I think he can say whatever he wants tonight!
I agree so much!
Thank goodness for CSPAN. DVR is at the ready!
Standing ovation for that righteous rant Almablanca ~ I too will be watching/listening via Whitehouse.gov.. I could give a rats patootie what the media & their pet gops have to say.
whoa very sorry LadyHawke- standing OOOOOs to you for the rant
Ladyhawke, you spoke for me!
This is the moron who invited Ted Nugent.
The gop is all about “fail”, what a joke. Even though I think it is shameful that Nugent will be allowed at the SOTU, if he should take up the media time following the President’s speech he will step all over Rubio’s response. Nugent could become “the republican response” LOL
If anything, there should be a GOP Fail-O-Meter.
The GOP really is using “Not Serious” as their hashtag for tonight’s SOTU. 2013 really isn’t their year. The derp levels are strong.
The GOP are really juvenile. They really need adult supervision.
Are we organized to push back and show our support? Do we have hashtags and an army of tweeters to counteract this b.s.?
They’re playing on our turf and I don’t want them to drown us out.
The House is actually doing some sort of work today. They are voting on 3 hydro power bills, that will provide renewable energy to small Towns.
Surprise! 🙂
God, they’ll be exhausted Jovie – they’ll need a vacation to recover.
… and that’s just the hookers. Ba-dum-bum!! 😀
Good morning TOD and Chips. Congrats to Mellesia and Desertflower.
SI Swimsuit cover is today-
http://www.heraldonline.com/2013/02/12/4612159/sports-illustrated-swimsuit-2013.html
I think Chips should add this to the post, very urgent! 🙂
Jovie, you rascal!!!! 😆

Nancy Pelosi is inviting a member of the Rat Pack to the SOTU.
Whereas the GOP are inviting a rat.
Yep, an actual rat! There’s a great tweet in there, Chips-a-doodle! Go for it!
BREAKING NEWS for the ladies. Smart and hot.
Hey Jovie, FLOTUS says: “I’ll see your little magazine and raise you a hunky rocket scientist sitting beside me in the guest box!” Booyah!! 🙂
I don’t think I’ve seen a photo of the House with the ceiling. I toured many years ago, but I don’t remember the ceiling. Thanks Chips. 😉
From Twitter: Please call Secret Service @ 202-406-5708 & Homeland Security @ 202-282-8000 & tell them Ted Nugent shd not be allowed to attend the SOTU!
I called the Secret Service and suggested that they ruff him up during the security check and inform him that if he acts up he will be gagged, bagged and immediately thrown out.
They should also remind him that not only has he threatened a sitting President, but he is also a pedophile…and that they are just looking for an excuse…
An Uzi? What the hell kind of society are we living in?

The Washington Post fell for the satirical story floating around yesterday that Sarah Palin was going to work for Al Jazerra and reported it as fact. The WP is representative of what has happened to our MSM.
Medal of honor winner turns down invite to SOTU.
