This is a wonderful thing to do for the families of these heroes. We rightly focus on the families of the little children, but these were wonderful adults who deserved to live their lives and instead sacrificed them for those in their care. They must never be forgotten.

omg. that is an incredible article, and amazing what his mother did:

“โ€œI owed it to him as his mother, the good, the bad and the ugly,โ€ she said. โ€œ. . . And as a little boy, you have to go in the ground. If I am going to shut my eyes to that I am not his mother. I had to bear it. I had to do it.โ€
When the governor of Connecticut arrived, she brought him to see Noah in the open casket. โ€œIf there is ever a piece of legislation that comes across his desk, I needed it to be real for him.โ€ The governor wept.”

      just wow…

I was brought up reading with little exposure to TV or movies. When I read things like this I see it, I feel it, I experience it. The first time I saw someone shoot a duck, I could taste blood in my mouth. Books are more vivid to me than movies. Well-written ones.

Rove is going after King; he thinks that if Steven King wins the primary, the dems will keep the Senate seat.

I really really hope that Rove’s money won’t succeed in blocking King… But even if Rove does succeed in making a less radical candidate win the primary, I’m confident dems will come out ahead anyway. This is Iowa, and democrats, thanks to President Obama, will have a big grassroots organization ready to work.

Rep. Cole (R-OK) is one of the saner Republicans. He has a Ph. D in British history. He is not a flame thrower and is close to Boner. He must realize sequester would be a disaster, and this statement is simply for negotiating purposes. PBO has the GOP on the ropes, and they know it.

    • 85 Lovepolitics2008
      February 5, 2013 at 7:59 pm

Wanna bet that republicans will sing a different tune when all the lobbyists “work” on them ?

I’m pretty sure that President Obama’s strategy is to obtain some cuts in defense spending, but cuts based on the ones recommended by the Pentagon (on obsolete arms programs, etc.). What he proposed in the sequester is bigger than what he wants; this gives him and democrats some leeway in the negotiations.

I think that President Obama is counting on the lobbyists of the defense contractors to push for less defense cuts, so republicans will have to accept to close some tax loopholes to raise more revenue.

It will be interesting to watch…

    Subject: Tequila!

A man walks into a bar, notices a very large jar on the counter, and sees that it’s filled to
the brim with $10 bills. He guesses there must be at least ten thousand dollars in it.He
approaches the bartender and asks, “What’s with the money in the jar?”

“Well…, you pay $10, and if you pass three tests, you get all the money in the jar and the
keys to a brand new Lexus.”

The man certainly isn’t going to

pass this up, so he asks, “What are the three tests?”

“You gotta pay first,” says the bartender, “those are the rules.”

So, after thinking it over a while, the man gives the bartender $10 which he stuffs into the

“Okay,” says the bartender, “here’s what you need to do:

First – You have to drink a whole quart of tequila, in 60 seconds or less, and you can’t
make a face while doing it.”

“Second – There’s a pit bull chained in the back with a bad tooth. You have to remove
that tooth with your bare hands.”

“Third – There’s a 90-year old lady upstairs who’s never had sex. You have to take care
    of that problem.”

The man is stunned! “I know I paid my $10 — but I’m not an idiot! I won’t do it! You’d
have to be nuts to drink a quart of tequila and then do all those other things!”

“Your call,” says the bartender, “but, your money stays where it is.”

As time goes on, the man has a few more drinks and finally says, “Where’s the damn

He grabs the bottle with both hands and drinks it as fast as he can.Tears stream down
both cheeks — but he doesn’t make a face — and he drinks it in 58 seconds!
Next, he staggers out the back door where he sees the pit bull chained to a pole. Soon, the
people inside the bar hear loud growling, screaming, and sounds of a terrible fight -then,
    nothing but silence!

Just when they think that the man surely must be dead, he staggers back into the bar.
His clothes are ripped to shreds and he’s bleeding from bites and gashes all over his body.

He drunkenly says, “Now…, where’s that old woman with the bad tooth?”

    Fabulous geek moment!!!!! http://news.yahoo.com/3d-printed-human-embryonic-stem-cells-created-first-165551783.html

Imagine if you could take living cells, load them into a printer, and squirt out a 3D tissue that could develop into a kidney or a heart. Scientists are one step closer to that reality, now that they have developed the first printer for embryonic human stem cells.

In a new study, researchers from the University of Edinburgh have created a cell printer that spits out living embryonic stem cells. The printer was capable of printing uniform-size droplets of cells gently enough to keep the cells alive and maintain their ability to develop into different cell types. The new printing method could be used to make 3D human tissues for testing new drugs, grow organs, or ultimately print cells directly inside the body.

Human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) are obtained from human embryos and can develop into any cell type in an adult person, from brain tissue to muscle to bone. This attribute makes them ideal for use in regenerative medicine โ€” repairing, replacing and regenerating damaged cells, tissues or organs. [Stem Cells: 5 Fascinating Findings]

Since my incredible mom died in 1998 of CHF,while waiting for a heart transplant, I have longed for this time to come…may this become commonplace and accessible to all. Thank you, PBO for stem cell research and the funding of science!!

Hi LisaLoves! I was just thinking of Cantor because I read Pearce’s article analyzing his speech. I noticed how he and his wife make money doing basically nothing.

Net Worth: $2.97 Million……..Source of Wealth: Politics……………Eric Ivan Cantor Age: 49years old
American politician and current House Majority Leader, Eric Cantor, has a net worth of $2.97 million. Due to new filing requirements, the Virginia Republican listed a total of $1 million in mortgages for homes in Arlington, Va., and in the Richmond, Va., area. Cantor took out a loan on his personal home in 2011, adding $500,000 to $1 million in debt, according to the filing. Cantorโ€™s wife, who pulls in hundreds of thousands of dollars from serving on corporate boards, is now a director for the Edelman Financial Group, according to the disclosure. She kept her spots on the boards of Media General , and Dominoโ€™s Pizza.

      That’s right.
When Rachel and Michael Issikof presented it as news last night I thought “huh? deja vu, we already knew that.”

One guess is that it is designed to slow down POTUS’s momentum.
The President and his agenda are flying very high and the whole country is responding positively to our leader.
