Well alrighty then. It’s a wrap. Til this time next year XLVIII.

Note: Fox will be the broadcasting network for next year’s super bowl game. PBO has always granted the pre-game interview to the broadcasting network. They’ll be using the entire upcoming year preparing their best gotcha questions.

Yes, Indeed, Theo! Despite my bravado, I really didn’t mind so much losing to the Baltimore Ravens. I like and highly respect Gov. O’Malley. If VP Joe Biden decides not to run for President in 2016, and Gov. O’Malley decides to run, he will be my number one choice.

I’m trying not to think of 2016, but I would support Gov O’Malley if VP Biden decided not to run, as well. Of course, it’ll all depend on who all the players are, once everyone is on the field.

I heard on the news that the demented killer hostage taker of the little 5 yr. old is demanding that he speak to a reporter down in his bunker. What would you do with that demand? I can’t imagine the agony of the parents. It’s been 6 days that their kid is down there underground with a crazy man.

    • 64 theo67
      February 3, 2013 at 11:46 pm

That child is forever damaged. Can’t they send in some kind of sleeping gas that will put them both to sleep and just rescue that child? There must be something. If he wants to speak to a reporter, that sounds like he wants to make a final statement. Doesn’t sound good.

          February 4, 2013 at 12:20 am

Yardarm, I thought they were in some sort of a bunker that the guy had built and there’s a pipe of some kind into the bunker. Theo might have a point about sleeping gas, maybe thru the pipe? The only hesitancy would be if the guy has wired the place. There’s got to be something that’s giving them pause from going in. Bless that child. Bless his parents.

What can I say that hasn’t been said about B-E-Y-O-N-C-E! She owned that stage! There’s just so much force in her performances — they should have hooked her up to a generator and powered the Dome that way. It was amazing!

Oh please, pipe down the hyperbolic hair on fire nonsense. You’re acting like this ruined his presidency and it did not. Is he holding an AR-15? NO. Is he holding a semi-automatic weapon? NO. Is he blowing someone’s head off? NO. Is he killing animals? NO. Is he holding a Bushmaster and spraying bullets into defenseless people? NO. He’s skeet shooting on his birthday. Firing at clay targets in an open range where no one is around who can get wounded. The man can do whatever he damn well pleases. He’s the President of the United States. HIM. Not you. HIM.

It’s the same thing he did with the birthers. Released the birth certificate while delivering justice to Osama Bin Laden and at the end of the day, who came out tops? He and reasonable Americans. It’s the same thing he’s doing here. Mocking the white house press corps (gossips), the NRA, and the rightwing nut jobs while at the same time getting reasonable gun owners on his side in the gun safety debate because they understand he doesn’t want to take their guns away; he, just like them want reasonable background checks and regulations of assault weapons and magazines/clips. Who’s coming out tops in the gun safety debate? He and reasonable Americans. He and VP Biden are going around the country and gathering up more support, Wayne LaPierre and his cohorts look and sound even more crazy to millions of Americans including NRA members especially during their congressional hearing, PR stunts, disgusting ad mocking Pres. Obama’s children, and LaPierre’s epic fail performance on Chris Wallace’s Fox News Sunday show.

On the gun safety debate, Pres. Obama is winning the argument and no harmless picture of a man having a great time on his birthday will ruin that. That’s just ridiculous thinking.

Kathryn, Joy makes no sense. Pres. Obama’s old and new cabinet have no say in the release of any pictures. It’s down to Pete Souza and Jay Carney as to what pictures can be released and clearly, the skeet shooting picture release was approved by Pres. Obama.

He’s skeet shooting not holding a rocket launcher so Joy’s hyperbolic outrage about how the picture is the biggest mistake Pres. Obama’s ever made is ridiculous and insulting.

Or you’re a psychic right? That must be it. Wait…..noooo….you mean you’re not Pres. Obama’s therapist. Oh….you’re just spewing hyperbolic nonsense because you think it makes you sound smart. Yeah…..that must be it. 🙄

You’re not the President of the United States and you don’t get to comment on his mental or emotional state. Your rants are ridiculous, hyperbolic, and full of crap. You clearly don’t understand what skeet shooting is. There is something called G-O-O-G-L-E that can help clear your shocking lack of knowledge. You clearly haven’t been listening to Pres. Obama when he says he’s not coming after skeet shooters and shotgun owners. He wants regulation of assault weapons, background checks, regulation of magazines/clips and help for the mentally ill.

You must have been off in la-la-land when Pres. Obama was speaking about gun safety measures. He’s the President of the United States. HIM. Not you. HIM. Frankly, he doesn’t give a damn about your ridiculous rants that aren’t based in fact.

You clearly don’t understand how politics and policy work and instead of owning up to that, you project your rants and lack of knowledge about the gun debate on Pres. Obama. It’s insulting and pure nonsense.

The problem is when guns are used to kill people. Big guns that can tear off a child’s face. Shooting guns at clay objects, soda or beer cans is not hurying people. • 134 Dudette
      February 4, 2013 at 8:07 am

I don’t care for the picture much either because I abhor guns. But I understand the President’s reasoning behind it.

Sounds to me that you’re equating “gun control” with taking away all guns period. This is exactly what the NRA and the paranoid wingnuts have been falsely claiming his agenda has been since before he took office. It’s a blatant and well-documented lie.

Getting rid of all guns might be your stance, which is certainly your perogative. However, President Obama has said repeatedly, he’s not advocating abolishing sport shooting or the rights of people to own guns for self-defense. He’s saying we need RESPONSIBLE GUN SAFETY REGULATION. The range of opinion on the gun issue runs the gamut. The President recognizes this and, as always, he’s trying to get people to focus on the areas where there’s consensus, so that some common sense solutions that will save lives can be implemented. After people get over the hysteria of seeing the scary black man holding a gun then the discussion can get back to what’s important.

There is no perfect solution that will end all gun violence. But that’s no reason to just give up and do nothing. There’s plenty of evidence that shows there are sensible steps which will in fact reduce it. It’s been done before, and history has shown us the effects of the expired assault weapons ban and loopholes. So we MUST take steps that we know will help to reduce the violence. People of good will, with differing opinions, must come together to move the ball forward.

It may indeed be difficult to get all of the regulations we might want passed, but to say that it won’t happen now because the President released a picture of himself doing the same thing every President since FDR has done in the enclosed recreational environment at Camp David is hyperbole — plain and simple. I think he knows what he’s doing. That’s my two cents.

I don’t think you properly read my response, because I in no way agree with your hyperbolic rant. I find it ridiculous and insulting to suggest that this is the biggest mistake Pres. Obama has ever made. He’s skeet shooting. If you don’t know what skeet shooting is, I’d suggest something called GOOGLE. He’s not holding an assault weapon and your rants are null and void. Crying out loud, it’s skeet shooting and you’re behaving as though the world has ended. You clearly don’t understand how the government, policy, and politics work.

          • February 4, 2013 at 8:30 am

Joy I recall several weeks ago when you came here basically accusing TODers of not caring about the gun violence simply because we were not glued to Piers Morgan on CNN While he was having some gun nut on his show.

I quite plainly pointed out to you that it was unfair to make that accusation – and Piers was a ratings whore who was not in my opinion any model for gun control advocacy – particularly when the same Piers Morgan had no compunction harboring on his show trigger-happy, self-appointed vigilante George Zimmerman who gunned down a young unarmed teen just a year ago. I also told you that we here at TOD had several discussions about gun violence and laws when the Newton Shooting first occurred over a month prior. I further told you that we would continue to have discussions LONG after people like Piers Morgan finds it profitable to push his “gun advocacy”

You never responded to any of the points I raised – because it didn’t fit your narrative or whatever crap you were pushing.

I find it curious and resent the fact that in the last several months, you have only come here to make accusations and to express “disapproval” about one thing or the other. The last person you should be attacking on the issue of guns is President Obama. I didn’t see any posts from you attacking Erin Burnett or Jessica Yellin of CNN when they kept insisting that he released a photo as proof that he had gone skeetshooting. And as UT has pointed out, the skeetshooting gun is a recreational tool with non-living targets. So he should have been using the water gun with Sasha either?

While you sit behind your computer blogging all the way from Canada, he will be making a trip to Minnesota to push his agenda for gun control legislation. Maybe you should spend your time focusing on what he is actually doing, and less time searching high and low for trivialities to be outraged about.

Well, first of all Hopefruit2, the reason I originally brought up gun violence was because I felt it during the debates of the presidency. NO one was talking about gun violence at that time. I wasn’t paying much attention to Piers prior to the election, and I too thought he was an asshole, but seriously, I had to give him a thumbs up on his advocacy on gun violence in the U.S. If you don’t agree with him taking that on, I can’t argue with you. You will make your own opinions on Piers Morgan. He seems to be the one argueing and fighting right now in the media.

I totally respect your President. Canadians respect your president. So as I sit behind my computer i hope that I can give my opinion as to what is going on in the U.S. I get heated about it, and I think you should remember that the world outside of the U.S. has something to say. Maybe I don’t always come across very well, and a bit passionate, but I do say it as I see it.

You cannot in one breath claim to support and “really respect” PBO, and in the same breath accusing him of “fucking up” just because he released a photo of himself skeetshooting – a harmless activity and something that the media had been agitating about for the last 2 weeks. In case you’re not aware, JFK, Al Gore, etc have all released photos of themselves doing exactly the same thing.

Piers Morgan hasn’t done any more for gun violence advocacy than Obama – yet you’re ready to give Morgan a “thumbs up” just because he trotted some nut on his show for ratings hysteria? When Trayvon Martin was gunned down, it was President Obama who COURAGEOUSLY came out and spoke up about the issue, when people like Piers were busy pandering to the shooter and his family, giving them a platform to continue their hatred and rationalize their need for gun violence against unarmed individuals.

It’s not even so much the fact that you disapproved of the pic that bothers me, it’s your tone – and your general behavior and attitude with regards to this blog on a single issue over the last several months.

I came back to read these comments, and you still don’t get it, do you? Perhaps I was wrong in the initial way I said or handled my words, but this isn’t about the era of JFK, Al Gore or anyone else, this is about today! Not 30 years ago. Get your head out of the sand. What is happening in government today vs. 30 years ago is different. Today we are dealing with massive killings in the U.S. And for you to compare this is not right. Today, we need to look very sharply at gun laws. And I feel PBO’s administration doesn’t need to support the chaos of the right wing. For his administration to put out this picture was just wrong, and then for his head to twitter it was even more wrong, It’s just not right. It debilitates what your president has been trying to do all these years.

“Today we are dealing with massive killings in the U.S”

Lady please stop advertising your ignorance of the history of gun violence in this country and instead of repeatedly hurling passive-aggressive insults at me, other TODers and PBO, take the time to educate yourself with REAL DATA on the incidence of gun-related deaths over the years in the US. JFK himself was murdered by a gun!!! And that assassination brought up a whole new round of discussion of assault weapons bans. So this is nothing NEW.

The only thing that is different about this latest gun discussion is the racial/ethnic composition of the people killed from those guns and the people doing the killings.

I’ve provided a link. Please do some reading and try to comprehend those graphs. It will benefit you.

Come on guys, not everybody who supports the President is up on how everything in the WH house. My first reaction to the picture was not quite as outraged as hers. I don’t like it either, but I certainly don’t think it’ll be the reason everything we’re working toward will fail. This is big scary, life-and-death issue. People have strong opinions. Debate is good. So is passion. In the end though, it’s cooler heads (like President Obama’s) that will prevail.

Are we really saying anyone who thinks the President made a mistake is a troll? Would it make me a troll to say that I hate the drone program or that I think we should have prosecuted those responsible for starting the Iraq war and that it burns me up knowing no one on Wall Street is in jail for the crap they did to the economy? There’s rationale for the President’s action (or inaction) in all these areas. Doesn’t mean I can’t disagree with him. And even I don’t agree with him on everything, I am still a FERVENT supporter. That being said, if my troll-radar is faulty, forgive me. 🙂

Dudette, what makes you different from Joy is that over the last couple months, you have been posting and commenting on a daily basis, on all kinds of things, participating in ALL discussions & activities at TOD – good, bad, funny, sad, happy, etc.

On the other hand, the last two times I’ve seen Joy post here is only to express some sort of outrage about TOD or the President – on a single issue. Remember, we just had an inauguration, an immigration reform speech, and many other several events that people who are “supporters of PBO” would be interested in and would comment on.

Even those of us who expressed disagreement with the release of the pics, have also expressed disapproval of the media and their foolishness about this issue. But not Joy. She singularly attacked the President and his administration for doing something that the media (not RWNJ’s) had been pushing for all week.

Your ignorance on how the government in particular, the white house works is hilarious, pathetic, and disturbing. Cabinet members have no say in pictures being released. Cabinet members are in control of the agencies, departments, and offices they are in charge of. People who sanction release of photographs by the white house are Pete Souza, Jay Carney, and sometimes Pres. Obama. NOT THE CABINET. The fact that the skeet shooting picture was released shows that Pres. Obama is fine by it. He went skeet shooting on his birthday. He didn’t go out and murder a bunch of people. Google is a free tool. You would be wise to use it to read up on how the white house works. Wow. Just wow.

So if the NRA brought Congress and Senate refuse to do their job, and there is no gun control pass it will be because of that picture of President Obama skeet shooting. It won’t be because Republicans and some Democrats are in the hip pocket of the NRA. As I’ve said before I think to much is being made out of the skeet shooting picture, so much so that it is pass ridiculous.

I totally think that yes, the NRA have a lot of control. There will be too much made out of the skeet shooting photo. But, these bastards will turn it against this president. I feel this was a very bad time for PBO to make his stance on gun violence with this photo.

      • February 4, 2013 at 9:09 am

The point of releasing the photo was to shut up so called legitimate media people. So anyone still talking asking about it are just “skeet truthers” or “skeeters”.

No one should get mad at or blame WH for releasing the photo. Get mad at the msm who continually pick up fringe talking points and bring it into the mainstream.

Well – good morning everyone. I was being very quiet yesterday cause I don’t understand your football – at all – (although i loved Beyonce and the blackout tweets) – and also too I didn’t want to get into more trouble from UT about football – I be skeered of that one

BUT – I check out Chips wonderful blog before heading for the bunk – and there is someone on here attacking the best President ever. This does not happen on TOD – so I’m with UT on this one. Many have said they didn’t like the WH releasing the picture – but rather like I didn’t like the President releasing his birth certificate – the media NEVER STOP demanding proof for every thing he says/does.

So if anyone comes to TOD and says the following ” i have to say that PBO fucked up on showing his gun power” – then they are NOT a supporter of the President. I have never seen on TOD someone saying the President “fucked up”. He wasn’t at his best in the first debate but he did not “fuck up”. That is something President Obama NEVER does.

So thank you UT and the others for sorting that one out.
