Hey Carol, Congrats on 1st!!! and thank you for all the RTs.
From the bottom of the previous thread …
Know your enemy, prepare for a State House to State House, House Seat to House Seat, Senate Seat to Senate Seat all out battle to preserve the Republic in Nov 2014 …
Dear @JonCarsonOFA We know ALEC, NRA, the Kochs & other Birchers & plutocrats are gerrymandering & suppressing. They are the Enemy of 2014.
What a great team. PBO was smart enough to pick his top team members from those people who made the most impact during the primaries. That’s why I can believe every word they said in the interview.
It is like a new shinning penny. I feel like I just got luck. Everyone knew how to do this. I felt left out and Now…. 🙂 look out TODville Villagers…..I am busting out 🙂 Now. 🙂
LOVE ‘Em BOTH! I dream of Hillary nominating Barack to the Supreme Court when the time comes!!! (If and only if he wants to do it. He would be a GREAT———–STELLAR, long lived Supreme!!!!!!!)
I think so. Not really a human as we think of it. His shrill hag wife “Bay” stills shows up now and then for no apparent reason. (Yep, “baying at the moon” I always think of that.) But the conservative a**hole depicted in the SNL skit was James Kilpatrick, I think. Might as well be Buchanan.
Buchanan’s still a racist and is still on one of the non-essential PBS punditry programs – The McLaughlin Group. Every time I accidentally stumble across it and see him, I change the channel. Mort Zuckerman’s on the program – another good reason to avoid it like the plague.
I’m looking back on my life, and I’m trying to discern the moment, the exact point, at which I became a working house husband. The commonlaw missus hasn’t done a lick of laundry in years. *sigh*
(Now, granted, I’m a far better cook than her. When we met she would nuke a chicken breast and call it dinner.)
Hahahahahahahahaha. It’s true GB. Chipsticks supports the worst sport team in history. The worst. All over the world, Manchester United are known as losers.
Without a doubt, Chipsticks, you mist have known what you were getting yourself into! Now, I must depart, I mustn’t see anymore leads into Downton Abbey. Bye y’all, do have a lovely evening. See you tomorrow. I really must get out and find some new clients, or I will be homeless in a couple months. Really do not want to go that road…..
Since we’re all in such great moods (with the possible exception of LL who’s stuck with laundry chores tonight – sorry LL!) is anyone up for yet another hearing of Meatloaf singing America the Beautiful at a Romney campaign rally?
Um guys, FYI guys, the entire season 3 of Downton Abbey’s been available for like months and months now. It’s on series-cravings.info if ya’ll don’t want to wait till every Sunday to see what’s going on. For those who want to speed ahead, the show is listed alphabetically, once you click on the show’s name, just go to the season and episode. Then click on ‘Click here to Watch’ and just watch. DON’T download anything, also there are a lot of ads, just close them and you’re set.
Ps- if you like going week by week and watching on TV, just ignore this post.
Just read the previous thread, and loved the creative activities for Lady Edith……tonight’s episode was like getting hit over the head with a polo mallet!!! Never anticipate Julian Fellowes.
Great interview. They seem very comfortable in their respective roles and very at ease with each other. One thing though. DA HECK is wrong with these media folks? Already on about 2016?!?!
Plus the tragedy in Libya is considered the major foreign policy *disaster* of the administration, while liberating Libya, ending the Iraq war, oh and taking out the mastermind behind 9/11 that we have been after for almost a decade does not count as major foreign policy successes? 🙄
Stay irrelevant media, no wonder you thought Romney had a chance at winning the presidency. Bunch of lazy ijits. 🙄
Highly relevant and will remain so – until we stop enabling the slaughter of our fellow citizens merely to profit the gun and ammo manufacturers and dealers AND ever thereafter as a warning to always be vigilant.
That was in March then…was it not? March 20th 1941. Then on March 20, 1945…..a month or so later FDR died in April and the war officially ended in May 1945. It was some time after that the Jan became the Month for the Inauguration and Truman in 1948…..was the very First. I could be wrong.
Thank you for this, GB. In 1941, there would have been no way for people around the country to “see” this inauguration, only to hear it on radio, so only those there would have caught FDR’s frailty. Newsreels shown in theaters would never, ever have made it seem as if the president had trouble getting to the podium. I looked, but couldn’t find Truman. Shouldn’t he have taken the oath as well ?
The last few days have been crazy busy and I don’t know how I’ll ever catch up with TOD posts, waaaaah! However, I did see the PBO and Hillary interview tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It’s amazing the alternate universe the political media is in where a reporter can keep a straight face, after we’ve come through the absolute disaster of the Bush administration — repeated foreign and domestic disasters —- and dare to downplay the success of this President and this Secretary of State. What world have they been living in? But enough of the idiots.
My President and my Secretary of State were so sharp, so warm, so knowledgeable, so competent, so incredible together. This is the way government should work: the best and the brightest in humble and effective service to our country. It was a beautiful thing to see.
Yes. I’m sick to death of the constant urge to jeopardize America’s security and standing because of the need to pursue thoroughly unsatisfying partisan politics. They both demonstrated their bond of friendship and desire to make the world a better place for all of us despite extremist efforts to undermine them at every turn. They are human. They are truly and deeply American.
Agreed. I couldn’t believe he said there was no major foreign policy success! I was screaming “Osama Bin Laden!!!!” at the TV! Never mind. The guy’s an idiot. What planet are these people on?
PBO does pre-approve all questions. They don’t all come out of the blue, just like he knows what questions he will get in a press conference. The point of the question is to allow him to speak out against GOP lies.
It seems sad to me that he can’t point to this. It brought closure to a lot of people. My husband pointed out to me that maybe making too much of it and bragging the way the Bush administration did over Saddam Hussein’s sons’ deaths would have maybe got more Americans killed and made OBL into a martyr. Still, it seems unfair that the media seems to have forgotten that it ever happened. I liked the interview overall. It was just this one thing that needled me.
uh, no he doesn’t. you have any evidence to the claim that questions in his interviews and press conferences are pre-approved by the obama administration?
I seriously doubt that President Obama pre-screens the questions he’s asked. If that was the case, then the reporters wouldn’t have conniptions when they don’t get to ask their silly questions and they wouldn’t try and do the gotcha questions.
That’s a lie. It was Bush who pre-approved questions. Journalists report that when they sit down with Pres. Obama he never pre-approves any question or tries to deny them asking any question. Don’t use that lie to justify Steve Kroft’s stupid question.
Thank you, Chips, for taking us down Memory Lane with these photos and videos. Time has flown! It’s lovely to see how PBO has grown and expanded into his presidency, but also how at his core he has remained consistent and true. I have loved watching the evolution of his and Hillary’s relationship, as well as his relationships with numerous others — he seems to make everyone better, which is the mark of a real leader.
1 lb. of ground beef or ground turkey
16 oz. can of tomato sauce
A dose of dry white wine (yes, a dose, use your creativity)
1 chopped green pepper
1 chopped yellow onion
minced garlic (to taste. I like lots of garlilc)
Seasoned salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Oregano to taste
Cumin to taste
1. Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in large skillet
2. Once oil is hot, put in garlic. Saute until just brown
3. Put in onion and green pepper. Saute for 3-5 minutes
4. Put in meat. Cook until browned.
5. Pour in tomato sauce and wine. Mix in well with meat and vegetables.
6. Put in oregano, seasoned salt, and black pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes.
7. Put in cumin. Cover and allow to simmer for 20 minutes (while rice is cooking)
8. Serve and enjoy heartily.
Ok, I’ve seen the west coast feed of 60 Minutes. I am so proud of President Obama and SoS Clinton. He is scary smart and she is steely smart. They both gave Steve a look that said “what the hell is wrong with you boy”? when he tried to go down the “what’s in the future” line of questioning.
Thank you President Obama, you made a very wise choice in your Secretary of State. May God continue to bless Hillary with improved health.
Chipsticks and TOD family, I’m gonna say good night now
Combined French and Malian troops have liberated Timbuktu from the Islamists. Hopefully they haven’t done too much damage to the city during their reign there.
Enjoyed the 60 minutes interview. Very proud of both President Obama and SOS Clinton. They were a great team. It was fitting that the President would publicly thank her at the end of her term. Their ability to work together is a great example to all Dems.
Just finished watching the interview with PBO and SOS and it was great. I loved the camaraderie and you can see that they are sincere in their feelings for one another. On a shallow note, I caught my self more than once staring at the little bump where PBO had to get stitches on his lip. It’s definitely one of those scars that adds appeal rather than takes it away. 🙂
Okay. Now that all the music has been played. Recipes have been shared . Kudos to our PBO and SoS for a great interview session.
This sums up my heartfelt love for one of the best Inauguration couples we have ever experienced and I am truly grateful to share it all here.
The “Blessed” Man and Woman. Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly….But his delight is in the law of The Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings fort it’s fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither, and whatever he does shall prosper.
A blessed man or woman tends to stand out because their character is deeper, their ideas fresher, their spirit softer, their courage greater, their leadership better, their concerns wider, their compassion more genuine, and their convictions more concrete. They are joyful in spite of difficult circumstances, and show wisdom far beyond their years. And they are full of surprises, you think you have them boxed in, but they turn out to be unpredictable. When you are around them you feel slightly off balanced because you don ‘t know what to expect next. Over time you realize that their ideas and actions can be trusted. Why? because they have a spiritual root system that goes down to streams of living water.
This is the man and woman who now resides in the WH. We are truly thankful and grateful.
America needs a 21st Century Emancipation Proclamation for the enslaved white, gun-clutching, under-educated, often impoverished, fear-consumed slaves of the (GOP) plutocrat minority (Kochs, Adelsons, Waltons, Scafies, etc) ….

Man behind Liberty Bell threat ID’d
Jonathan Lai, INQUIRER STAFF WRITER
POSTED: Sunday, January 27, 2013, 11:34 AM
Police have charged a former Arizona State University professor with terroristic threats for allegedly claiming to have explosives Saturday morning as he entered the Liberty Bell Center.
Police identified the man as Carlos J. Balsas, 41, of Tempe, Ariz.
Balsas entered the tourist site shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday, where visitors must pass through a security check. Police said a security officer began to search Balsas’s backpack when he stated, “I have explosives in there.” He then left.
Maybe I am looking at this wrong…….I am sure that PBO knew about this and it very well may be part of a plan……but the optics alone have made me seriously consider changing my voter registration to independent….”to try to wrest control from the White House”…..excuse me, doesn’t that mean stabbing someone in the back?
A bipartisan group of four Democratic senators and four Republican senators will announce the framework for a comprehensive immigration reform plan on Monday, seeking to jump out in front of President Obama’s planned Tuesday speech on immigration.
Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) will join with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) to promote the plan. Senators will unveil their plan (read the full five-page memo below) at a Monday afternoon press conference in Washington.
President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are scheduled to meet with police chiefs from three U.S. communities scarred by mass shootings last year to talk about the administration’s push to reduce gun violence, a White House official said.
Almost ready to watch!
Carol, you are getting very good at this! 🙂
Timing is everything!
Thank you. 🙂
What’s amazing here is that they are still singing. Time really was on their side.
Blessed to have both of them working for us.
Love them

What a great team. PBO was smart enough to pick his top team members from those people who made the most impact during the primaries. That’s why I can believe every word they said in the interview.
I simply loved the interview. Two wonderful Americans. Loved loved loved it.

LOVE ‘Em BOTH! I dream of Hillary nominating Barack to the Supreme Court when the time comes!!! (If and only if he wants to do it. He would be a GREAT———–STELLAR, long lived Supreme!!!!!!!)
He’d be magnificent … but … I think he’d rather be with We The People. They’re pretty cloistered.
I have the same dream….Hillary is president and when there is an openning in the SCOTUS she nominates PBO and he become Chief Justice Barack Obama.
That would be perfect. I haven’t thought of it before. Thanks!
Wow, that first pic is intense.
In The Heat of The Moment…….stuff happens……Feelings are hurt and, and, and 🙂
The old SNL “Point-Counterpoint” skit immediately popped in my head!! (I know, I know….not these two remarkable REAL people….)
For some reason your comment begs me to ask this question: Is Pat Buchanan still alive? After getting fired by MSNBC he’s just fallen off the globe.
I believe Bay Buchanan is Pat’s sister. Interestingly she is a Mormon convert, while Pat is a right wing extremist conservative Catholic.
SISTER. Yes.
Wow, I don’t remember seeing them so young. They’ve aged okay.
One has aged much, MUCH better than the other. But I won’t name names. He IS younger.
I know what you mean. 😉
He shows up on Fox occasionally and makes stupid comments. And Bay is his sister. Dint know she was a Mormon though. 🙄
Buchanan’s still a racist and is still on one of the non-essential PBS punditry programs – The McLaughlin Group. Every time I accidentally stumble across it and see him, I change the channel. Mort Zuckerman’s on the program – another good reason to avoid it like the plague.
He is alive. Completely forgot about him until I was watching a recent episode of The Daily Show. I said, “whoa Pat’s still alive?”
This is the wrong song.
This is the right one.
Who did the other version of this song? A female?
All I remember is Willie Nelson and Joe Hinton.
Joe Hinton is the “Gold” standard…
No doubt.
Oh no…it’s all right! Quick hop down memory lane.
Glad you liked it but it was an accident. 🙂
I don’t believe in accidents. This was meant to do something, if not for you then for sure…for me. Thanks.
Whatever floats your boat hon.
Yeah my ship saiied in 1966
No comment. I remember Harry Truman.
I’m looking back on my life, and I’m trying to discern the moment, the exact point, at which I became a working house husband. The commonlaw missus hasn’t done a lick of laundry in years. *sigh*

I was ok until the Dowager Countess….that walk away from Carson made it seem like she had aged a decade in a short walk.
Bad news everyone, I’ve been unfollowed by ‘Israel’s diplomatic mission in Los Angeles serving the Southwest United States’.
Do you think it was my California comment?
Could be your taste in sports teams. 🙂

This was like a fist in the gut. These are MY ‘home-boys’. I gotta go sit in a dark corner now. No more music tonight. I’m done.
Hope you’ll be ok, sailor. That video – which I’ve never seen before – was searing to the bone, for sure.

PJ-I love that you said PBO “makes everyone better. This is true of everyone he reaches out to, including all of us.
So true – he’s very special, and unique.
So, something I’ve never done: shared a recipe.
Cuban picadillo
1 lb. of ground beef or ground turkey
16 oz. can of tomato sauce
A dose of dry white wine (yes, a dose, use your creativity)
1 chopped green pepper
1 chopped yellow onion
minced garlic (to taste. I like lots of garlilc)
Seasoned salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Oregano to taste
Cumin to taste
1. Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in large skillet
2. Once oil is hot, put in garlic. Saute until just brown
3. Put in onion and green pepper. Saute for 3-5 minutes
4. Put in meat. Cook until browned.
5. Pour in tomato sauce and wine. Mix in well with meat and vegetables.
6. Put in oregano, seasoned salt, and black pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes.
7. Put in cumin. Cover and allow to simmer for 20 minutes (while rice is cooking)
8. Serve and enjoy heartily.
Yum.
Oh, this sounds so good, I may have to give up my non-cooking ways and make it tomorrow night. Thank you!
How much difference would substituting a red pepper for a green pepper make? I happen to have a red one on hand.
Subtlety of taste. With the seasoning there shouldn’t be too much of a difference.
Thanks! Saves me a stop at the grocery store after schoo 🙂
Time for some dinner making …

Man behind Liberty Bell threat ID’d

POSTED: Sunday, January 27, 2013, 11:34 AM
Police have charged a former Arizona State University professor with terroristic threats for allegedly claiming to have explosives Saturday morning as he entered the Liberty Bell Center.
Police identified the man as Carlos J. Balsas, 41, of Tempe, Ariz.
