Live streaming has started at CBS and CNN, and is due to start at 10:0 at C-Span – although, according to the schedule, the service is not due to start until 10:45.
Fun stuff … they are awesome young ladies; I look for more cool pics of them for the next four years … they are just so real, but so polite and well behaved … they have such decorum and yet can still do things to remind us they are in their teen years! And … they really, really love their Dad!
My son and I love her. I would not post anything to diss or attack her. She is such a beautiful soul besides being a beautiful lady. Moreover, anybody that loves the obamas has my affection.
No, I don’t think they are sarcastic … whoever compiled those pics and captions is seriously in love with her too. That is how I read it. And by the time I got through the pics, I think I am in love with her too! I saw that the first person she gravitated towards upon arrival was Michelle Obama and the hugs and kisses they gave each other were genuinely filled with love.
No matter what Michelle Obama wore to the Inauguration, it’s no surprise: it would only be a matter of minutes till it sold out.
Mrs. Obama’s big-day wardrobe featured accessories that are accessible to everyday Americans. Her Thom Browne jacket and dress were matched with a pair of J.Crew heels for a religious service in the morning, and were later transitioned for the official ceremony with the addition of a jeweled belt by the preppy retailer. The Obama’s elder daughter, Malia also wore J.Crew, personalizing the brand’s Lady Day Coat by switching out its buttons. Eric Wilson of the The New York Times tweeted that Malia’s coat was actually purchased off-the-rack.
In fact, all of the Obama’s J.Crew finery was on store racks this morning—but that’s not the case anymore.
I had been feeling great but I tried to go to work today but this ole body isn’t having it. 😉 Instead I’m gonna lay right on this sofa. I was in all day yesterday but I think all that walking and excitement this weekend has caught up with me. I am going to do NOTHING today! Work can wait until tomorrow. Thanks for asking. I’m sure I’ll be fine tomorrow.
You do have to take it easy. Especially after the wild excitement of the weekend. It was all very emotional, too. Glad to hear you’re going to have a day of rest. Take good care!
I think it will pass. My read on the hemming and hawing from harry reid is that he is making an effort to deflect criticism and lobbying before the vote.
But then, I am an optimist.
Donna! I got to go to the Inauguration with VC due to the Ceremony tickets you provided. Thank you sooooooooo much, Darling! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Will be back later with a report but I’m pooped. I didn’t get back to Richmond until after midnight and I am barely present for work today. I look forward to catching up on all of yesterday’s posts and comments. What a lovely day, both in D.C. and here at TOD. *pinches self and sings Beyonce’s “I Was Heeeeeeeere!”*
Now, there is a fantastically exciting report to look forward to: PJ & VC, together in DC! amk, can you imagine? Bye y’all, I’m going to work today for a few hours, also interviewing a new family for care. I really must start ramping back towards full time, even tho I don’t feel quite ready. Love you all. Chipsticks, thank you thank you. Very happy DD4O is resting, hope our Chips can manage at least a nap today! 🙂
Donna, I hope you are feeling better. Thanks for sharing the link to the inaugural-Prayer Service for some of us who missed it. That was the most beautiful service I’ve ever seen. The pastor from Kansas city preached a righteous sermon. If we had serious media they would re-air this in prime-time so that most Americans would see the beauty of diversity and the importance of bringing together people of all faiths to share the central message they have in common.
Has anyone read that my boss is the pastor in chief? The Rev. Katharine Jefferts-Schori? I will ask her tomorrow for her insight of the couple. So proud of her. I thought she might have been asked to give the benediction.
Still in la la land over yesterday. Chips, I just saw your previous post and can I just say YOU ARE THE BEST ! Thank you so much !!
Thinking about the inaugural speech, am I the only one surprised by the fact that no pundit, no newspaper has put emphasis on the words “WE THE PEOPLE”, that the president used repeatedly in his speech? The expression was evidently intended to represent what his agenda was all about….Watching the speech live, I couldn’t help thinking this was an echo to his “YES WE CAN” from the first campaign. I was almost sure to see some newspapers putting “WE THE PEOPLE” on their front page this morning…
I must add in regards to FLOTUS attire yesterday I have to say that those custom made boots that she wore to the parade were hip, trendy and oh so incredibly spectacular. The Washington Post has a full color spread of the Inauguration and you get a really good look at the suede/leather lovelies.
We tried telling you that Kelly Clarkson when you were talking about supporting Ron Paul. We have a wonderful First Lady and President. And VP and Second Lady. So glad you saw the light. We have a seriously cool First Lady. Kelly did a great song in singing at the Inauguration.
The preacher said, as he was preparing his sermon, he was thinking about what to say. He said he believes that most people seek public office for one of three reasons.
1) because they want power and feel important
2) or because they are a little koukou in their heads; or
3) because they really want to make a (positive) difference for people.
Very truthful words. If I may add, McCain falls into the 1st category. We all know that BO falls into the 3rd one as said by the Preacher. Where does Mitt Romney fit? You guessed it: in section 2.
Thank You Lord for the result of the presidential election.
May you bless abundantly our President and those that work with him.
Yes, it is No Child Left Behind. I was raised Southern Baptist, my husband was raised Catholic. After many years in our marriage of attending no church (we each had grown away from our respective churches) we found the Episcopal Church and have been very happy. Of course our educations in British Literature, being so influenced by the Church of England, probably paved the way for our thinking.
Indeed. Though not born an Episcopalian, I have enjoyed attending their services whenever I can. And the more I read about the history of the church, the more liking I took to it. No church is perfect. However, once I learned that it was the first chuch that allowed slaves to sit in the pews, my appreciation grew.
Hi! I am coming out of lurking. Thank you Chip for your amazing coverage 🙂 I sort of lost my way to God and this First family inspired me to try and find it again 🙂 I was wondering if anyone knew where to watch this service again? Would it be on c-span?
Coming out of lurking….Just wanted to add a big THANK YOU!!! to Chipsticks
THANK YOU for all you do here…I was at work yesterday and unable to watch President Obama’s Inauguration live on television…
but thanks to you and this Awesome Blog and the community you have created here I could
tune in on my Blackberry during my lunch break and catch-up.
Yo, ho, ho O’s!!!!!!! If it ain’t just a great gettin up day this fine morning!!!!! Miss Chips I’d imagine you too pooped to pop today. But nooooooo, here you are greeting the dawn with the most wonderfulest, magnificantest, lip-smacking goodest, stuffs one could possibly hope to read.
I have hereby dubbed you ‘Madam All Things to All O’s and Then Some’
PS: It looks like while I was busy putting my kudos to Chips together, I missed the whole prayer service. Oh well, I’ll catch it on CSPAN.
If you were not moved by that service, I don’t think there is much hope for you….SHAME on the television industry for not broadcasting that on every channel available…SHAME on the members of Congress and Senate that did not attend…That does not mean that I am putting anyone down that has no religious beliefs b/c I am not….this service, yes was about higher powers, but it also was about PEACE and UNDERSTANDING….and however you get there is your personal choice….These religious leaders, at this service, really get PBO……….and yes, I am another Episcopalian…born and reared………………………………………………..now to my shallow self……that was the most dynamite outfit that Michelle has worn IMO….she was just ELEGANT and I love her hair back….I can see her gorgeous face…..and I predict that those bangs will be shortlived….so hard to take care of…been there, done that…
The service was beautiful. The President and First Lady were very moved during this service. For those who did not get the meaning of the three songs performed by the Children Gospel Choir missed the ENTIRE meaning of the Inaugural Prayer Service.
Plus, the person speaking of the First Lady crying missed the lyrics and the emotional rendition by those young people in that choir had a perfect meaning and message to POB and and his presidency thus far and even moving forward. Lyrics were the most appropriate for what POB and his Administration has gone through and the promise of the message of the song was one of encouragement to President Obama. It spoke to the president and the First Lady. “Lord, I Am Determined To Go On” no matter what the people who hate me, dislike me, given me hell, will not break me. Do some research on gospel songs please.
And please do not bring the disrespectful speculations to this site about all of this crap about POB and the First Lady. I find it such a waste of precious time and gossip in the wildest manner. None of us were there at the luncheon at that table. Stop this crap.HZ
thanks! and good morning
Good morning Kathryn. Top o the morning!
Proud to say that one of the pastors is my boss, The Rev. Katharine Jefferts-Schori.
And a very gppd morning to all!
Good Morning to all!
Good Morning No Child…congrats of 1st!
Thanks, Proudmember, but Kathryn is first. I am second.
Here are some nice and fun pics of First Daughters. 🙂

hopefruit, thanks for this….great to is PBO’s sister, brother in law and neice in the row behind the girls. Fabulous stuff!
errr…great to *see* I mean..
Fun stuff … they are awesome young ladies; I look for more cool pics of them for the next four years … they are just so real, but so polite and well behaved … they have such decorum and yet can still do things to remind us they are in their teen years! And … they really, really love their Dad!
I totally want that frog phone cover. Me and my old ass.
Love the pictures of the First daughters. I think we can see that POTUS and FLOTUS are doing a wonderful job raising them.
Amen. Morning all. Chipsticks, did you sleep? 🙂
I had to drag this over.
Chips thank you so much for yesterday. I feel like a million dollars.
We have the best President in the world!!!!
Everybody have a glorious day. 🙂
A few Beyoncé moments…
http://www.buzzfeed.com/lyapalater/the-most-fabulous-beyonce-moments-at-the-inaugurat/
Were the captions meant to be snide? Seemed to be very sarcastic.
There were many funny captions. Nothing sarcastic at all. Actually flattering to Beyoncé who deserves it.
I didn’t think so. I found them sarcastic and snide but whatever.
Thank for posting.
My son and I love her. I would not post anything to diss or attack her. She is such a beautiful soul besides being a beautiful lady. Moreover, anybody that loves the obamas has my affection.
Beyonce seems to be another one who just exudes love. And obviously those around her yesterday was feeling it! Wow! I love it.
In My Opinion….
i read the captions …i do not think meant they were to be flattering…i did not like them….they were sarcastic and mean spirited
Glad I’m not the only one.
Reminded me of someone saying something mean spirited under the guise of being flattering.

I LOVE that they inspire people to make great purchases and stimulate our economy.
I must confess I did some fierce shopping online yesterday in celebration of the Inauguration. Ha!
Donna, how you are you doing?
I had been feeling great but I tried to go to work today but this ole body isn’t having it. 😉 Instead I’m gonna lay right on this sofa. I was in all day yesterday but I think all that walking and excitement this weekend has caught up with me. I am going to do NOTHING today! Work can wait until tomorrow. Thanks for asking. Feel better soon donna. As I said about 2 weeks ago, residents of MD/VA/DC should have a paid “state” holiday after every Inauguration.
For Real!!!!!!
You do have to take it easy. Especially after the wild excitement of the weekend. It was all very emotional, too. Glad to hear you’re going to have a day of rest. Take good care!
I hope you are feeling better soon…Donna
Donna, feel better. Sending your hugs dear one. (((((((((( Get Well)))))))))))) Lots of love.HZ
LOL!
“Malia’s $325 wool-blend coat in ‘fresh plum’ is only now available in a size zero.”
Guess we’re going to have to join weight watchers to be able to buy that last coat.
I thought both the girls’ coats were J Crew.
(I’m totally a J Crew fan)
Both looked great. Loved those colors.
What I want to know is how people are able to figure out who designed the belts and shoes. Some folks are incredibly good at spotting and naming them.
The power of First Lady Michelle Obama. Love it. She’s a one-woman stimulus.
Filibuster reform today Only in the Senate, it has to be passed Today!!
Do you think it will, or has that gone by the wayside?
Let’s see what Dirty Harry does. What happens if it doesn’t pass today?
I think it will pass. My read on the hemming and hawing from harry reid is that he is making an effort to deflect criticism and lobbying before the vote.
But then, I am an optimist.
Chips…Hope you are able to add to the post…
AWESOME!

CSPAN 3 TV is also carrying the service live from 10:30AM.
Chips, weren’t you given two days of leave of absence?
Are the President and First Lady already there? The Bidens too.
So the Republicans weren’t please with the President speech yesterday, I’m shock.

Great photos from yesterday and the weekend: http://michellepictures.com/
The First Family has arrived. Mrs O looks stunning!!!!
Indeed.
Has anyone read that my boss is the pastor in chief? The Rev. Katharine Jefferts-Schori? I will ask her tomorrow for her insight of the couple. So proud of her. I thought she might have been asked to give the benediction.
so cool!
You got me all sad for a minute there yesterday. Don’t you do that anymore!!! Glad to see you here. smh/min!!!!
Wow, Michelle looks beautiful!!!
Back in a bit!
Good morning everyone !
Still in la la land over yesterday. Chips, I just saw your previous post and can I just say YOU ARE THE BEST ! Thank you so much !!

Michelle looks great in her off white suit
Very beautiful, very modern suit. LOVE it. Her hair looks gorgeous. She is radiant!!
This is so beautiful seeing all the faiths together is so emotional.
I must add in regards to FLOTUS attire yesterday I have to say that those custom made boots that she wore to the parade were hip, trendy and oh so incredibly spectacular. The Washington Post has a full color spread of the Inauguration and you get a really good look at the suede/leather lovelies.
She always looks so modern. The boots were really something.
Love the detail on this cream suit. Very feminine.
FLOTUS is enjoying the lady who is singing.
She seem to be enjoying the song.
You see POTUS give FLOTUS a kiss.
Lovely uplifting young faces in the children, young people of the Gospel Choir.
The First Family was cleary moved by those beautiful voices.
A teary-eyed Michelle got a kiss from her hubby. How nice they look! And the lucky woman!!!
Yes I saw that too No Child.
I love this service. Just beautiful
It really is Meta. It’s so inclusive. It reflects everything I love about the Obamas.
Well said and so true.
Thanks for posting.
Characters is not the word I would of chosen.
It sounds like FLOTUS, POTUS and their guest had a blast at the after party last night 😉
Wow. Nice. I’m so glad the First Family really decided to enjoy the heck out of all the inaugural festivities.
We tried telling you that Kelly Clarkson when you were talking about supporting Ron Paul. We have a wonderful First Lady and President. And VP and Second Lady. So glad you saw the light. We have a seriously cool First Lady. Kelly did a great song in singing at the Inauguration.
I had just said to my husband I wanted a copy of the service and you post this. Thank you!
You’re welcome.
This man chosen to give the sermon is saying words for all of us.
WOW, such beautiful truth spoken out loud in public. YES.
I agree mtmarilyn, I agree.
Not sure why tweet did post correctly. Link for .pdf of Prayer Service Program — https://pursuant.s3.amazonaws.com/2013/WNC/inauguration/downloads/2013_PIPS.pdf
Guess I have gremlins this morning. Sorryfor double post…
This .pdf contains the order of service and all of the prayers, readings, and hymns.
What the Preacher said to POTUS, VP Biden, First Lady, Dr. Biden was real nice.
He first told them Thank-You for your service.
High turnout in the Israeli elections. Just like here, that’s good news for the left and center. Hopefully we’re in for a surprise later.
Oh, what a welcome moment that would be.
20 candidates running does not look like we will get a progressive outcome.
This Minister is incredible. He told the President that he was gifted and should have been a preacher 🙂
That was an awesome moment.
WOW, this is choking me up.
I KNOW!!!
Truly magnificent. WOW.
The preacher said, as he was preparing his sermon, he was thinking about what to say. He said he believes that most people seek public office for one of three reasons.
1) because they want power and feel important
2) or because they are a little koukou in their heads; or

Thank You Lord for the result of the presidential election.
May you bless abundantly our President and those that work with him.
Your comment was very funny….
LOL!!! and Very LOUD!
Ok, I love the preacher. He is too awesome.
I so wish more Preachers would speak out like THIS!!!
I am not making any advertisement here. But the Episcopal Church is the right place for tolerance, inclusiveness, fabulous music and good preaching.
Besides it is a church that accepts you the way you are, that is not seeking to overhaul you and make something of you God didn’t intend to.
It is a very attractive church.
Truly evident today. WOW.
Ooops, sorry, this is in the wrong place.
Our specific church — United Methodist — fits that description….not the case for many, or most UMC’s.
That is the United Methodist Church where I grew up. It influenced my life.
It certainly is!
That was a MUST SEE sermon, truly magnificent and humble all the same. Extraordinary for our POTUS to receive this.
This is so moving….!!!!
“I Believe” is one of my favorite songs. Sang this at my 8th grade graduation. Of course, I didn’t sing anywhere as well as Wintly Phipps.
Wow, what a moving speech by that preacher.
I believe. What a beautiful rendition.
WINTLEY PHIPPS is singing ‘i BELIEVE” at the prayer breakfast. Awesome sauce.
Bishop Katharine now praying.
What an enormous gift to our President Obama today.
GWB’s Pastor.
Back soon:
I am overjoyed and in tears watching this service. So inspirational!
Plenty others too.
The service is indeed inspirational. I could not hold back tears when the preacher thanked the president for all he has given up to lead our country.
Hi! I am coming out of lurking. Thank you Chip for your amazing coverage 🙂 I sort of lost my way to God and this First family inspired me to try and find it again 🙂 I was wondering if anyone knew where to watch this service again? Would it be on c-span?
WOW…I missed a greater part of the service but looks like it was extremely good and moving.
Hello TOD
Coming out of lurking….Just wanted to add a big THANK YOU!!! to Chipsticks
THANK YOU for all you do here…I was at work yesterday and unable to watch President Obama’s Inauguration live on television…
but thanks to you and this Awesome Blog and the community you have created here I could

Thank You!!! Thank You!!! Thank You!!!
This was a very nice church service today.
I really enjoy it.

What was the name of the last song that they sang/played? I loved it and enjoyed the accompaniment.
Great Is Thy Faithfulness. Here’s another version

Fantastic! Thanks cookemom 🙂
Maybe this will work:
Thanks cookemom – this is a lovely rendition as well.
I could tell that PBO, FLOTUS, VP Biden and Dr. Jill all enjoyed the service, sermon, choirs, music and all.
Great is Thy Faithfulness. The lyrics are printed in the program. https://pursuant.s3.amazonaws.com/2013/WNC/inauguration/downloads/2013_PIPS.pdf
Thanks Alycee!
You’re welcome.
I can’t believe they let a Kenyan, Muslim socialist into the church. What is this world coming to? 😉
New post!
