🙂 Don’t give the wifey unit any ideas, LL. She’s already pissed off for my ‘not remembering’ our 25th anniv on 24th Jan. She is coming down here in another 5 hours for a relative’s wedding and I’ll keep “not remembering” the fateful (!!!) day till day after tomorrow just to rile her up. 😀

You wanted to ask some tech question ? Spill it.

          • January 22, 2013 at 12:00 am

            Well, it’s an interesting one.

When I bring up TOD on Firefox, I get all sorts of issues with loading the page. But when I view it on Chrome, it’s right as rain. Any idea why that might happen?

Did you update to latest FF 18.0.1 ?

Installed any add-ons lately ? If so, you could disable them and so if they are the problem.

Also. Too. Any anti-virus programs like norton, avg (which I have sworn off 3 years back).

Some times site may not load due to heavy traffic. I bet there were plenty of lurkers as well as regulars swamping the site.

I am truly sorry Chips that I didn’t make it clear that it was not a permanent good bye. I should have made it clear that my participation will not be as proliferate as it was (Wanna bet how many TOD’ers are now going, “Thank God, fewer tacky jokes to read “? 🙂 ).

As I said one of the previous gazillion inauguration threads (did you take any rest at all today ?), I just wanted to take a break from the six-year roller coaster ride with that kenyan muslin soshalist. Also. Too. The coming year is going to be very busy what with fixing daughter’s and niece’s marriages and plenty of urgent works to do from Africa.

I promise I’ll check in at least once a day (one too many ?) to catch up with you all.

Finally, I thank all the TOD’ers (too many to list here) for all their kind words (and kind curses) towards me.

Thankfully, we didn’t have to release the hounds (or the Kracken) on you. I have my recording of this afternoon’s events on while reading here. I like this dress so much more than the first Inaugural Ball dress because it is more flattering to Michelle. The color and cut of the gown is exquisite. Who is the designer?

    • 49 anniebella
      January 21, 2013 at 11:29 pm

Jason Wu, the one who design the first one.

    • 50 theo67
      January 21, 2013 at 11:33 pm

The designer is the same guy who did the first dress. I actually like both dresses equally, because they both suit the time they were worn. One was worn at the beginning of a Presidency, when the players were relatively unknown, unproven and probably nervous at the scale of crises they had to confront. Now, they’ve all shown us what they’ve got, and they’ve earned their confidence. Red seemed appropriate and the dress seemed beautiful.

Whew! I don’t know about y’all but I’m exhausted…..this has been just a delicious day…Mrs. O is just stunning…all day long…and her red dress was magnificent…..I gather that she doesn’t know what she is going to wear until the last minute and she wears what makes her feel good about herself….hey, that’s called feminism…making your OWN choices………..so tonight, I chose my inauguration finery after a lot of consideration and ta da…..I wore a 100% cotton, blue flowered flannel frock from J.C.Penny’s, black fuzzy booty shoes by Isotoner, with accompaning red fuzzy coat that has scotty dogs all over it…….and it sure made me feel good about myself………..THANK YOU, CHIPS….YOU are the HERO of this inauguration………and thank all of you for providing links, tweets, pictures that have made this such an enjoyable experience……going to bed b/c tomorrow I know all we will hear is negatives and dissecting that speech to death so have to be in fighting mode.

Before I go gotta leave this link special for you ChipsChica. If you scroll down there is a pic I want to particularly draw your attention. It’s the horsepoop cleanup brigade passing by the presidential view booth during the parade.

I think these people will give you a serious run for you ‘ahem’ photojournalistic talents. I’d keep an eye on them if I were you.

And with that, I’m off to bed.

  26. January 21, 2013 at 11:37 pm

So, we live in an age of wonders.

One of the things wifey was worrying about was, um, wiping herself post-surgery. Of course, i would do it, but neither of us was much looking forward to it.

Then, being the librarian that I am, I googled “ass wiping after weight loss surgery.” Yes, those exact words. The long and short of it is that it led me to a product on Amazon, which is basically a long wand that you can use to keep hygienic. Everybody wins!

  27. January 21, 2013 at 11:38 pm

I was gone all day and so couldn’t keep up; so looking back at all the wonderful posts from our Goddess Chips, the most poignant is the video where the President looked back one last time to take it all in. I’d love to have a screen grab of that moment where he had such longing and felt so deeply that moment in time. No one savors the moment quite like him. Thanks for all you do, Chips.

I did try to capture it, as well, but in the end only managed to get one shot, fairly incomplete, as PBO was just beginning to turn, and before he started speaking. Hoped to capture it in sequence, but alas, was not possible. Beautiful, so very real.

  28. January 21, 2013 at 11:42 pm

Ok, I’m about to throw Twitter under the bus. And run it over a few times.

  29. 78 lisalovesobama
    January 21, 2013 at 11:43 pm

Stephen Colbert is so angry by PBO’s pinko commie “liberal collectivist agenda” that he just named himself president and used like 100 books to “inaugurate” himself by laying across them. Stephen was also offended that PBO used 3 bibles so he decided to use a whole bunch for his own inauguration. Hahahahahahahahahahhahhahahahahahahaha!!! 😆

    • January 21, 2013 at 11:46 pm

Now, correct me if I’m mistaken, but for the past couple of years Colbert was dropping his RWNJ schtick, no? I think he realizes that the best satire is when it’s biting and more real than real, so he’s back to full RWNJ mode in an effort to help PBO’s tough work ahead.

      • 80 lisalovesobama
        January 21, 2013 at 11:51 pm

I’ve only ever known him to do the conservative stuff. That other one is who does the “real criticism” shtick. 🙄 more like firebagger shyte masquerading as ironic humor. 🙄

I always like Colbert better than that other guy. Colbert used to have conservative believing him. Loved the way he mocked them and they didn’t even know. Slowly ppl caught on but he’s never given up his schtick.

Well, my comments cannot even compare with the glamour presented here. It will take me an entire day (tomorrow) to catch up, but I wanted to post my comments as per follows:

I’m sharing this post with a couple sites. Hello TOD. Synopsis of the inauguration. Was elated to be there. Almost didn’t make it as a commuter bus from Maryland was not running. Fail !. We drive into DC reluctantly, but everything went well. Only paid 8.50 parking, few tolls, snacked from a truck, booed the Newt, McCain (wasn’t he supposed to be in Syria?) (and the Clintons- low), watched as the camera panned over to Sasha letting out a big yawn while her dad was giving this important speech…LOL; that choir was just awesome, and Beyonce sounded fabulous in person. Also got a glimpse of Marlon Wayans texting. Crowd was fantastic and black folks showed up big (yeah, that enthusiasm gap) among a diverse crowd . Did you all know that Boehner’s wife is orange like him? I missed the Obama portion of the parade as I took a detour into the Smithsonian (been meaning to get there for years- this was my first trip ever to DC). And, I got full shots of FLOTUS’ first inaugural gown, the jewelry, the Jimmy Choo shoes. Yes, all on full display, along with a lot of other first ladies’ attire, but hers was the big draw, and shown more prominently since she’s current. Only watched the parade up to second Hawaii band, had to leave for that long, long trek back to Metro. Along the way, came across CNN doing its broadcast, with too much commentary of course, and David Gergen and John King, and two broads (they all had their backs turned to us at the Mall.) Got a couple shots of PBO on their live screening of the parade review stand, along with FLOTUS. One day, I will see her up front, but this is the first time I’ve been in the same general area as she. I had a glorious time, and actually tried to comment to you guys but to no avail, but you were all in my thoughts. Saying good nite. Be blessed.
