Sorry but that Obama 2012 “inches” video bugs the hell out of me and in a very bad way…

      I know you didn’t do this Chip…

The choice of pictures and the words voiced over that coincide with each picture are rather weird and suspect to me…

Not all Obama videos are what they seem…

      This is one of them…

Me too! I took the day off as well and am so looking forward to the day long festivities! I did the same 4years ago and was glued to my tee vee machine for 16 hours of pure joy and excitement! Can’t wait to do it again! The best part is hubby, a died in the wool GOP sheeple, will be at work all day! Won’t have to listen to his racist ignorance. When he is home, he leaves the tv in his “room” on FukNews 24/7. I once read that Rupert pays airports, hotels (even empty rooms when tv is off)etc. to keep the station on Fox so they show the ratings higher, often want to ask hubby if he gets a kick back too! UGHHHH!

We-e-ll, yes and no. I don’t want to wish-away my chances to walk down some of the streets where my president has traveled, but I do want to get to the business of seeing him and Mrs. O and VPJoe and Dr. B, etc. walk down the street joyously so that we can scream and dance and be filled again with the certainty that the right man is OFFICIALLY in the White House again for FOUR MORE YEARS1

I am so jealous, but I am so happy for you guys, being right there in the thick of things. I have some co-workers going and we’ve been counting down the days every day. One left on Tuesday for D.C., the other today. They were sooooo excited.

I hope you guys give us lots of reports about the happenings.

On the bright side, when my computer is not throwing tantrums and shutting down on me, I will be parked here at TOD on Monday.

Be safe and have lots of fun for all of us who can’t be there.

        (((((DD4O))))) I guess I’ll just sit down here in my cold lonely office in grey and foggy Seattle, trying to figure out why my printer will print up some documents, and not others. Even telling me the paper tray is ‘out of paper’, when in fact, it is quite quite full! Bloody Hell. ;{

I’ve did tech support for years and your answer is not right.
            1. Turn the printer off and then back on. If that doesn’t fix it —
            2. Reboot your computer. If that doesn’t fix it —
            3. Dope slap the bugger.
(Always important to do things correctly and in the right order.) Thank you.

TY, vsw, did all that, oddly, the stupid thing decided to print some things, but not others. So now, that makes even less sense. It is not really very old, but did not have much use last year, maybe it is not a happy printer? I had just changed the color ink as well, so it really was rude to give me such a bad time. Finally gave up and made some tea!

Apparently, black feminists and white feminists are split in their opinions on FLOTUS’ impact/ commitment to the feminist cause. White feminists are disappointed with her because she hasn’t horned in on her husband’s job/agenda ala Hillary, but black feminists support Miche’s right to be mom-in-chief as historically, black women have not had the opportunity to stay at home raising their kids as they have often been breadwinners with one or more jobs. 🙄 yikes. Apparently some feminists were very disappointed when she didn’t keep her job. Really? These people are cray-cray. SMH

Well, they were. I remember. I recall that when she made one –one!–remark about not staying home and baking cookies, she was slapped down so hard that she started using her husbans’s last name. Before the campiagn she was Hilary Rodham. Period.

        • January 18, 2013 at 7:30 pm

I believe Hilary was very instrumental in Bills presidency behind the scenes and offering to do the healthcare plan until the GOP lost their minds. Most first lady’s effect political change behind the scenes. It would not surprise me if FLOTUS and the girls gave him the courage to push to do away with DOMA, DODT and changed his mind on gay marriage. I would not be surprised that FLOTUS also encouraged the President to address the gun issue.

    • 59 jackiegrumbacher
      January 18, 2013 at 6:02 pm

Lisa–With some people FLOTUS could be an angel incarnate and they would still complain because being “satisfied” isn’t on their list of self-identifiers. If she intruded on her husband’s job, she would get endless criticism about being too pushy, overstepping her role, etc, etc. If she carves a whole new glorious path of her own creating bold initiatives that don’t infringe on her husband’s job but get important things done, she’s not doing enough. I’m sure she laughs, shakes her head and does exactly what she thinks is best for her country, her husband, her girls and herself.

Plus, to be a “feminist,” one should believe that the woman can make her own choices – not have somebody else make the choice for her, as in the “old days” (like when I … uhm … was young!). So-called feminists who are complaining that women aren’t choosing to do what they think they should do are as bad as non-feminists, from my POV. Mrs. Obama actually has a brain and she uses it, the way she thinks best. Works for me.

          • 62 lisalovesobama
            January 18, 2013 at 9:19 pm

I know right? And they don’t even recognize their disservice to the cause. They wrap themselves in the flag of feminism and damn anyone who doesn’t see or do things the way they think it should be done.

              January 18, 2013 at 9:25 pm

Which is total b.s. on their part and aptly describes why feminism came to be a movement – again – back when I was young … so people would quit telling women how they “should” act. Grrrr.

        January 19, 2013 at 4:12 am

        Indeed Jackie, indeed…

Mrs Obama will never please some folks no matter what she does…And I think she’s well aware of it and thus chooses to live her life on her own terms…

They’ll keep moving the goalposts and the whine de jour will keep changing…

If any of these women have a cause they think should be addressed, they ought to get their husbands to run for something or run for office themselves and get it done…

        Nothing stops them…

But this pissy, whiny, silly, spiteful, yelling thing they do from the sidelines – as if they themselves were incapable of getting off their butts and doing something, is just so insane…

I don’t get the “white feminist” arguement. She was the primary breadwinner from the time girls were babies until 2008 when she took a leave of absence. That’s a substantial amount of time. Now it’s time for Barack to be the breadwinner and now Michelle can focus on herself, her girls, and her projects without the burden of a 9 to 5 job. She also has time to look stylish, get great workouts in and fabulous vacations. I’m with the black feminists. Michelle geniunely is making a positive impact for the better. Millions of black girls will follow in the footsteps of Michelle Obama.

      • 67 dotster3
        January 18, 2013 at 6:20 pm

They were just talking about this on Rev. Al, I think—-somewhat distracted. Heard MHP say that she wonders if Michelle will get more into the politics of the Obama administration during this 2nd term. And I also have a feeling she may spread her wings a bit more during the next 4 years. I understand completely her choices in the first term, and I think she did everything exactly right. But she has built up so much good will and admiration that she may be able to push beyond those efforts in these next few years.

First of all, I don’t pay serious attention to MSM stories about what “white feminists” think versus what “black feminists” think because not all white or black feminists think alike. This is a ginned-up story because being FLOTUS is a fulltime job. An unpaid one, but fulltime plus. Just as a practical matter what kind of job would it be? How could any First Lady do that?
I confess: I am white. I am a feminist. None of those “white feminists” represent MY views. In my humble(!) opinion, Michelle Obama is a great role model and an inspiration. She’s brilliant, hardworking, and beautiful. She’s not “staying at home” anyway — who’s doing all that military family support with Dr. Jill? Who is it that’s traveling all over for Let’s Move? Who is it giving all those speeches and making personal appearances? She wrote a book during the first term, too.
Sorry to be lengthy but there are enough issues keeping us apart, whether MO should be the first FLOTUS to have a job is a silly construct.

          January 19, 2013 at 12:12 am

Absolutely agree. I am a “white feminist” too. And to add you what you said, her girls are in a highly unusual and potentially extremely stressful position. She has to focus on them to keep them balanced and emotionally safe. We all know President is a wonderful dad, who sets his girls as his highest priority, but he obviously can’t be involved the way a 9-5 lawyer or professor could. It is not anti-feminist to respond to the needs of your children.

Well, I am a white,I guess you could call me a feminist, so is my sister, my 2 daughters, and daughter in law and believe me when I say, we hold Michelle Obama up as the best role model for my Granddaughters and neices that ever has been and ever could be. She makes her OWN choices and isn’t that what feminism is about? I don’t know who wrote that article and didn’t bother to read it but I would say that they are just trying to create divisivness and IT AIN’T GONNA WORK…..It doesn’t matter whether you are a black, white, yellow, brown or a green woman,…it doesn’t matter whether you stay home to parent your children or work and parent your children or have no children, what matters is that you make the choice to do whatever is best for you…..if you make the decision to do what is best for you it will be the best decision for everyone you touch. If you are comfortable in your skin as a woman then you are a true feminist………this coming from a 70 yr old woman who didn’t actually burn her bra, way back then, but sure took it off.

I have to agree with everything you said. I am also a white 70 year old ( I took it off once in awhile w/ a vest LOL) But the First Lady & Dr. Jill Biden have really been short changed in the media. The projects they worked on were ones that needed to be done for the Military families and our children and grand children. They have given hope and courage to a lot of youngsters, especially the girls. I was never a Hillary supporter, but you know it’s all about color. It just makes my blood boil.

HOW DARE THEY demand more of our FLOTUS. HOW DARE THEY dictate her life’s work and passion. HOW DARE THEY slight her tremendous achievement and family priorities these last 4 years. I don’t plan to read that article, and this is what I think of the feminists who are trying to criticize Michelle, “F” them. Michelle has a right to do as she chose, what is best for her and her family. Her number one job was to make sure her girls come through this well and adjusted, it was not to please some feminists. I respect Michelle Obama more than any woman I can think of. And I want her to continue to do what is best for her, her husband, and her daughters.

      • 127 jacquelineoboomer
        January 18, 2013 at 10:00 pm

At one point, the TN rep said Pres. Obama is hiding behind the little children on gun control. But when pressed about states’ rights versus federal rights and confronted with a little video remembrance of old Gov. Wallace in the civil rights era standing up to federal interference on school desegregation, told Rev. Al he “has a little bi-racial son” and resented the implication that he was acting like Gov. Wallace. So, he turned out to be the one hiding behind a little child – his own – who may or may not be proud of him, someday.

I like to show pictures of Bo to my little raggedymuffins. “See! See how clean and tidy Bo is. Why can’t you be more like Bo?” Hasn’t made an impression so far.

So happy as I just signed on and made a small donation to OFA, a new Permanent movement to promote the current Obama initiatives as well as what The Obamas will be doing after his Presidency ends.

Despite the wishes of the left and the right, POTUS and FLOTUS intend to be part of our lives for a long time!

I can only wonder what Ed Rendell and other Clinton boosters think about this. Don’t have to wonder what Pox Noise will think .

Does anyone know who’s singing to POTUS and FLOTUS for their first dance at the ball? I’m thinking it might be Marc Anthony or Jennifer Hudson.

    http://www.kpho.com/story/20624654/surprise-mom-packed-you-a-nice-gun

NEW YORK (CNN) — Things a 7-year-old boy expects Mom to put in his backpack: A peanut butter sandwich. Pencils. Maybe even a nice note with a little heart scrawled on it.

Things he doesn’t: a flare gun, a .22-caliber pistol, a loaded magazine and, for good measure, 14 more bullets in a plastic bag.

But that’s exactly what a second-grader had inside his Batman backpack Thursday morning when he arrived at Wave Preparatory Elementary School in Far Rockaway in Queens, Police Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said Friday.

    Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm…..

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — House Republican leaders on Friday announced a plan to condition a three-month increase in the debt limit on the Senate committing to pass a budget by the April 15 statutory deadline.

“Before there is any long-term debt limit increase, a budget should be passed that cuts spending,” Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told the Republican conference in remarks to close the party’s three-day retreat in Williamsburg. “The Democratic-controlled Senate has failed to pass a budget for four years. That is a shameful run that needs to end, this year.”WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — House Republican leaders on Friday announced a plan to condition a three-month increase in the debt limit on the Senate committing to pass a budget by the April 15 statutory deadline.

It cannot be a coincidence that so many great people are being commemorated on the day of President Obama’s second Inauguration!! It’s a day off for us here in Barbados as well! Errol Barrow day – Father of Independence from Britain, from the shackles of colonialism, through education and upward mobility, and perhaps the main architect of Barbados as we know it – strongly middle class, prosperous, socially level, one of the freest and most progressive nations on earth. The mind and hand of God are very evident in PBO’s story.
