Politico: A Bastion of Diversity

….. meanwhile, a 2010 Politico editorial meeting:

…. not forgetting: In June 2010, Joe Williams was the first African American editor hired at Politico after an outcry erupted over the news organization’s lack of diversity …. he ‘left’ last year (Poynter)

Don’t you just love it when white men and a media dominated by white males feign concern about a black POTUS’s “diversity problem?” They haven’t found anything concrete to pin on Pres. Obama so they manufacture this drivel. Irony just let out a loud guffaw.

Good Morning Ms. Chips and TOD. I’ve been lurking lately and consistently reading all the great links and comments. This site soothes my soul when I make the mistake of turning on the crazy pundits (lack of diversity my ass) on TV.

How about the Cablers and the media in general? How much diversity in their mist? Mourning Joke has Mika that is abused M-F, 15 hours weekly. The guest on Sunday shows are 92% White.

CNN, Fox, CNBC, FBN, Bloomberg, etc have ZERO diversity in their prime time. I am not talking about Women. Only Maddow and Van Susteren ..oops and Bunette……..are the binders full of women.

Williams a Journo Veteran was fired by Politico for speaking correctly about Romney in 2012.

It is always…..the 98% of Journos who are Caucasian telling pres Obama how to be, behave, live, gov, breath, play, have vacation, campaign, speak…..remember Maddow and her Oval Office pretentious BP speech, sing, dance, etc, etc….

And yet….No one seems to ask these fatuously racially biased Journos about their deed seeded animus about pres Obama. The question needs to be NOW loudly asked by those who support this president.

    If not now, when?

    It’s been confirmed.

Louis Giglio, the anti-LGBT pastor who had been announced to perform the benediction at President Obama’s second inauguration, has been removed from the program, ABC News’s Jonathan Karl reported Thursday.
The move came after ThinkProgress reported Wednesday that in the 1990s, Giglio had given a lengthy sermon in which he advocated for dangerous “ex-gay” therapy for gay and lesbian people, referenced a biblical passage often interpreted to require gay people be executed, and impelled Christians to “firmly respond to the aggressive agenda” and prevent the “homosexual lifestyle” from becoming accepted in society.

Media since Jan 20, 2009 is that pres Obama must be publicly flogged, castigated, humiliated……or if praise must be given….then Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Chris Christie…..everyone, but the president or they are taking sides. No. They are being biased. That is it.

Absolutely spot-on Nena! Even the selection of Kerry and Hagel is reported as a win for VP Biden! I just can’t adequately express, in polite words, how disgusted I am with the U.S.media! This is just my opinion but I think the worst form of racism is the covert racism that hides behind institutional respectability. At least the overt, in your face racism of white Aryans and KKK, can be easily confronted.

Well to be honest about this whole ‘What No Women’ debate, it’s a simple matter of trying to define PBO’s second term. That is, do it before his term gets started so that it’ll stick. Have you seen his latest approval ratings? No way they’re going to let him enjoy those high numbers. Who was PBO’s biggest group of voters? Well wimmen. Who was the group that was most under attack by the Repups this last election? You got it, woomans. Who are more likely to vote in 2014? Oh yeah, the wumans. So is anyone surprised that there is a movement afoot to divide and conquer……wait for it…….you got it…….yes…….WOMEN!

Now email, tweet, and FB all of those media outlets that are pushing this narrative and demand equal coverage on VAWA until they no longer hype PBO’s cabinet picks.

        January 10, 2013 at 11:57 am

They are trying, Cookemom, but it won’t work. They must really think we are all stupid. Especially after a month of personal attacks against Susan Rice, (a member of the Cabinet). We have Republicans trying to destroy the economy, troops still fighting a war. a coming battle on gun control, and a need for immigration reform and the media is spending all this time on a media generated “outrage” about some imaginary lack of diversity. It will not make a difference in the President’s approval ratings, especially with women.

        • 85 0388jojothecat
          January 10, 2013 at 3:16 pm

However the GOP are STILL waging a WAR ON WOMEN, against Obamacare, against Planned Parenthood, against VAWA, more anti-abortion laws, etc., but PBO is the one who is anti-woman.

    • 86 vcprezofan2
      January 10, 2013 at 11:54 am

Your observation makes perfect sense, CM. GOPS might have the handbook on how to make trouble and stir things up, and have been quite successful in the past, but IMO they sure lack the discernment needed to check the wind direction and pick their moments. I think they are as dense as…. as dense as …. can’t think of any comparison right now. They seem to believe that because their tactics have always worked, the always will.

    • January 10, 2013 at 12:10 pm

You are exactly spot on. They are stirring up trouble just for something to talk about. I have never, and will never, support a woman for any office or position just because she is a woman. Women have been accused of this since the beginning of time. There are very qualified women working for this administration. They are the most qualified for the position they hold. The media is one big thorn in my side. I keep watching. What is my problem?

    • 91 yardarm756

    • 92 jackiegrumbacher
      January 10, 2013 at 12:36 pm

Of course, cookemon, it’s predicated on the idea that women are stupid. In fact, women caught on to this game a long
time ago, which is why we all came out in droves on election day and worked our hearts out getting him elected.

      • 93 HZ
        January 10, 2013 at 3:45 pm

And may I add, jackiegrumbacher, we (women for POB) will not fall into their trap just like POB will not as well. POB is a brilliant man, and he knows what the scumbags are trying to do to him and our nation.

First, POB was and still is surrounded by very strong women who have influenced how he listens and respond to women in his life. POB does not need to prove to these low information, haters from the opposition side, and even some of his same party regarding this new “Hate on POB Day.”

Look at POB’s policies for women. On the record. Look at his appointments to the SCOTUS. Look how he was the President who picked up the phone personally and called Sandra Fluke. Then look at the photo of the hearing where there were NO women on that panel. Look at his Cabinet and compare his record to his predecessors.

Look at these empty, vile, evil people whose sole purpose is to bring down this president, and we are not going to allow it or fall into their sewer. POB will Not allow these buffons ruin his second term, or for that matter his presidency.

Plus, just think about it TOD Family. We have worked too hard to get President Obama elected the first time and now a second term. And may I remind our TOD family, we have gone through some pretty wretched stuff to get here. Are we going to stand with POB for the right things, or are we going to allow the loud mouth and empty heads dictate to this president and to us this crap. Find out the facts and put them out there when necessary.

My concern is why are All of these “White ole men” now are coming out with their phony concerns about how many females are in the President’s Cabinet or how many have been appointed by him in any position. This is something that they have Never screamed out all day on tv and in print before, But here is the brilliant Bi-racial man who is our President and is sitting in the Oval Office for another four years.

And most of all, these old angry white men just cannot stop POB. POB is always ten steps ahead of these old farts. So let us move on and work with POB with his choice of those that he has the right to choose to serve in his Cabinet and elsewhere. And these ole angry boys need to look in the mirror at the end of the day and take inventory of how many women they have on their boards.

I am tired of these ole jealous ugly haters, and I will live to focus on the truth, honor, and the deep honest and compassionate core of my president. We women will show them in 2014, how many of us are still in places where it matters, “the voting booth.” HZ

O/T but a HUGE favor: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/light-white-house-gold-month-september-honor-pediatric-cancer-fighters-and-bring-light-cause/syV6M6wX . PLEASE—all TODer’s, PLEASE sign this petition and also share it with all your friends. We need 20, 178 signatures by Feb. 6 to quality for viable petition. Turning the WH GOLD in September has been a dream of mine (and my daughter) and especially w/PO in the WH. I remember on election night he talked about a family in OH whose daughter has cancer. I know that with his and Michelle’s love and compassion and caring of kids and families who suffer through something like this, we have a better chance of making this happen. I am open to suggestions as to how I could possibly do more than this petition—-anyone I could contact that would be a more direct link to helping us make this happen. Help, please!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!

It’s always frustrating for we childhood cancer families to see the WH in pink in October and September went by yet another year and there was no visibility about childhood cancer. KIDS GET CANCER TOO…….and when they do, the entire family, in a sense, has cancer. Somehow, it is different as far as the family effect when it’s a child in treatment as opposed to a parent.

GOP OBSTRUCTIONISTS: THEY JUST DON’T WANT PRESIDENT OBAMA TO GOVERN

    =========================================================

FLASHBACK: This is one of my all time favorite smack downs (I just can’t get enough). Back in October 2009, Max Blumenthal appeared on Morning Joe and dispensed a bit of truth about Republican Party obstruction. The stammering and bluster coming from Joe Scarborough is priceless. And wishy washy Mika does not disappoint. She practically disappears during the interview. Her best comment is at the end of the segment when she says (paraphrasing): Well Max, I think we’ll leave it there. We can revisit this conversation again when we don’t overlay so much. Hilarious…….

Bottom line, Max makes it plain – President Obama thought he would be allowed to govern when he took office and the Republican Party said NO. The last thing the GOP wants is for the American people to see how smart and efficient government can have a positive impact on their lives.

    ===========================================================

Morning Joe – Max Blumenthal – Has the GOP Been Driven Outside The Mainstream

    • 111 Bill
      January 10, 2013 at 12:20 pm

I remember this when it occurred. Joe said he had not supported the 2009 stimulus bill because it lacked tax cuts, yet the bill was 42% tax cuts. This is a prime example of Joe running his mouth to support his postion with no factual reality. Much coming from him is nonsense and adding lies to the conversation. His show is not only a waste of time but detrimental to public understanding.

    • 120 57andfemale
      January 10, 2013 at 11:57 am

We were not aware of Pastor Giglio’s past comments at the time of his selection and they don’t reflect our desire to celebrate the strength and diversity of our country at this Inaugural. Pastor Giglio was asked to deliver the benediction in large part for his leadership in combating human trafficking around the world. As we now work to select someone to deliver the benediction, we will ensure their beliefs reflect this administration’s vision of inclusion and acceptance for all Americans.

I think people falsely believe that the President personally chooses everyone who participates in the inauguration, they forget there is a Congressional committee made up of both dems and reps, and the committee is ultimately responsible. I am glad they put out that statement.

Especially after the smarmy comment made by Giglio:

Rev. Louie Giglio has withdrawn from giving the benediction at President Barack Obama’s inauguration, saying in a statement that “Due to a message of mine that has surfaced from 15-20 years ago, it is likely that my participation, and the prayer I would offer, will be dwarfed by those seeking to make their agenda the focal point of the inauguration.”

  25. January 10, 2013 at 12:02 pm

Although the press will surely blame PBO, isn’t sitting at a table going over the details of this event. Obviously!! • January 10, 2013 at 12:13 pm

One of the reasons I love PBO is because he’s inclusive. But really, the inauguration committee should’ve done a better job of vetting this schmuck. And if he hasn’t apologized for that “message”, then guess what? He still believes it, and doesn’t deserve to share a podium with PBO.

Except one of his ‘best friends’ is a RWNJ. Of course, the people being paid to put people on the podium next to POTUS should spend more than 10 seconds looking into someone.

The statement from this guy was abject proof that he has not changed what he believed 15 years ago. Or he would have said so, and he didn’t.

I just received great news. I had entered the lottery with my two senators to get tickets to the inauguration. I received an e-mail from the senator that I worked extensively to get elected that I was not picked. I had not heard from the other one. I had totally given up hope. Yesterday I got an e-mail from the second senator saying that I will get two tickets!!!! Guess who will be working on that senators re-election!

Now, as far as I know there have been no serious plans for TODers to meet up. I get to go to Washington because my daughter lives there going to school. I would love to meet up with the rest of the TODers somewhere, someplace, sometime. I do not know the DC area at all. Does someone from there want to take charge. This would be really fun. Maybe we could do some kind of on-line connection for the people who won’t be there too. Anyone have some ideas?

GOP Plan A: Make Barack Obama a one term President. That failed so now what?

Plan B: Beat up on PBO for the next 4 years. Relentlessly.
    1) If you have nothing to rant about, make stuff up.
    2) Praise everything that is NotObama, ie Christie, Hillary
    3) Start every newscast with the idea that PBO could have done something better than whatever it was he did today.
    4) Keep the negativity up all day everyday and don’t ask if the country might be better served by a different approach .

Just joining the party (good afternoon!), and heard the President will be announcing his nomination of Jack Lew any moment … being covered by Andrea Mitchell, although now I have her ugly voice muted so please don’t ask me any further questions about this. Thank you.

She is Really Really playing thus binders full of Women stuff. I first heard Andrea Mitchel mention this six Days ago, since then, it’s been mon stop on the President and the Boys Club.
All it does, is elevate Hillary that much higher if She decides to run(which to me is evident- even though People on this blog can’t stand that prospect).

How ludicrous to see an MSNBC headline that says “Pres. Nominates White Men to Major Cabinet Openings.” Do they not see how pathetic a talking point that is, not to mention the fact that he’s done more to advance women, in many arenas, than most any other President?

Uh, let me ask, MSNBC, what would you be covering if President Obama had a cabinet that consisted of only women and minorities? What would be your headline then?

Everything the media suggests is smoke and mirrors. They can all kiss my Democratic ass.

Charlie Rangel says it’s troubling the lack of diversity in the Administration.
See? The President knows who his Friends are when trumped up charges happen, and Rabgel ain’t one of them.
    What an ass!
