Look at the night owls/early birds LOL 🙂 I’m on the west coast and its a little after midnight. Cant believe I fell asleep early and now Im going to be up all night. TGIF
The one thing I love about retirement – no alarm clocks and no “regular” hours. And there is always someone awake on the intertubes to talk to.
Watching the President – at times I get sad to see the continual greying of his hair – but then I think – he wears that grey with pride – I’m glad it is there for all to see.
I Cant wait until I retire 🙂 I have an awful sleep pattern and sometimes Insomnia with just a few hours of sleep. I’m about to have a glass of Mascoto wine so I can go back to sleep, otherwise I will be up to 5am.
President Barack Obama and his family still have one more day of vacation in Hawaii, and while we call it a “vacation”, political experts say modern Presidents are never totally on a holiday. Nope, the Commander-in-Chief still does plenty of work behind-the-scenes. ‘
Can’t help themselves “Like many of his predecessors, the President has been criticized for taking extended time off ” – THIS President has never taken “extended time off” whenever he gets a few days the GOP in congress drag him back.
WOW! June has to be the best one…yet…6 more months to go! Chips you gotta tell us the name of the music behind these videos so that I can find on youtube. The June music was the sweetest I’ve heard in a long time!
It appears that everything on his site is from other blogs/sites and “shared” by his Twitter followers. E.g., the July “image or two” video was shared by @tigerfist88 who also posts on TOD (albeit infrequently).
Why is it that the most objectionable people are loud and like to draw attention to themselves and their hatred? /smh/ I actually thought they were going to move her up and she’d be so close to the pilot she’d see that the pilot was black. I like this ending better though.
GOOD SATURDAY MORNING EVERYONE…PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR HOMELESS FEEDING ON PENN. AVE. PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR STAMINA IN THIS WEATHER!…:) WE START SETTING UP AT 12:30 AND SERVE AT 1…HOPE TO HAVE LOTS OF SUNSHINE BY THEN!
Gee, I went to bed in June and woke up to July. Do you never sleep, Chips? At this rate it’s going to be December by next week. I love the children in July. So much love and awe for our president. It’s no wonder he and Michelle love to get out of DC and meet real people. This could be a great country if it weren’t for the narrow-minded bozos in the House and the seriously screwed up beltway media, lobbyists and assorted egotists that make up the DC “social milieu.” There really is a disease that affects these cynical, arrogant, close-minded people. UGH!
No, PF, but at the January State Democratic Committee, some of these candidates will start to emerge. I heard someone say that Sestak might step forward. REV AL…said as much on one of his shows this week…..
ROTFLMAO! Apparently some conservative Black female who calls herself GOPBlackChick on Twitter posted the most scary looking pic of a chicken that she supposedly cooked. I don’t know all the details but Twitter has not been the same ever since! 🙂
Nights like last night and this early morning are why I freaking love Twitter. It’s great for politics, organizing, getting government to work etc, but it’s also fantastic for humor. Crystal Wright is an African-American extreme rightwing Republican who goes by @GOPBlackChick on Twitter. She is homophobic, anti-feminist, supports voter ID and poll tax on minorities, supports the GOP in their disgusting laws against women and minorities. It’s insane. I once watched her on C-SPAN with a panel that had Rev. Al on talking about African-Americans and progress and she could give Clarence Thomas a run for his money in self hating crap.
She posted the picture on Twitter yesterday bragging about her “culinary skills” and went after @ReignOfApril and April hit her back hard by simply posting the picture and a hilarious Struggle Plate hashtag went viral on Twitter. If you want to crack up, check out #StrugglePlate #StruggleChicken and #ThatChicken.
The chicken even has a Youtube video. The chicken is now on the run.
OMG UT that was too funny last night. But I did not know she had been on talk shows. WTH. I had just watched April tweet and take down WileyCowboy with his concern trolling about POTUS’ academic achievements. (Really – those RWNJs who cannot spell still think POTUS is not smart. LMAO.) Anyway, that had just ended and then she replied to this woman’s dumb posting with her poor diseased chicken covered in motor oil. OMG too funny. The hashtag #struggleplate killed.
Brian Lamb interviewed her a few months ago on C-SPAN. A short time into the interview he appeared embarrassed having her as a guest. It was obvious her intention was to shock. She has taken the Ann Coulter playbook to fame and fortune.
Rep Nadler and 3 guests in MSNBC hare the fiscal cliff deal. Nadler actually wants more spending not cutting like the President wants- hid words.
You see? Both sides go to their corners.
It’s not enough that we have a 3.8 annual trillion dollar budget. Or that we are running trillion dollar deficits or that we have a 16 trillion dollar debt, that goes up a trillion every year.
Nah, let’s spend some more…
And then the T Baggers on the other side, seem to think because they have successfully ran up the debt, fooled their constituents and set up austerity, that we must get rid of the Federal Government. Which is what they have wanted to do since the Federalist Party of the 19th century.
It’s a sad set of affairs, and it most certainly is not the Presidents fault, ibut it is the medusa fault for enabling both sides to keep fucking us all over.
How do you like them apples?
PBO has always talked about running a more efficient / smarter gov/ he has always talked about cutting waste / but PBO has also always protected the most vulnerable in our society/ and the middle class….
Morning Ms Chips, morning all! Sadly can’t see the July video… the German music union apparently has the Snow Patrol song under “protection”. Oh well! Hope everyone has a great day!
This President has done soooo much that sometimes it takes several threads to cover all of his continuing accomplishments. Also, remember that he NEVER ceases in doing good. It is his nature.
It was somewhere between hilarious and pathetic to watch Republicans respond to the positive jobs report last Friday. Some friends and I were counting the minutes until some Republican started casting aspersions on the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), which compiles and releases the data. Sure enough, by early Friday afternoon, Tea Party Congressman Allen West was saying (on the basis of no evidence of course) that “Americans need truth, not these number games.” West’s comment suggests a desperation that will spread if future reports are as good as last week’s, which raises the question of what the Republicans will do next to try to wreck the economy.
The President is setting up the Republucans for a big loss at the ballot box in 2 years. We just have to get their and survive this crazyness.
The President weekly address was a warning to Republicans about the debt limit.
but unless we ~The Obama Coalition~ stay engaged and organized…it will not happen…PBO cannot do this alone….that is our lesson from 2010….we have to take back our state houses….and change those districts that keep the GOP safe….deal with those voter id laws …..
Bernie “I’ve not accomplished a goddamn thing in all my years in the Senate” Sanders was at his most petulant last night on Ed Schultz’s show. You would think that this fucking guy would give President Obama credit for something at least once.
One of my favorite quotes from Barack Obama; “Cynicism is a sorry kind of wisdom”. And Bernie Sanders has that in spades. And it’s telling that a a senator who is not even from one of the two major parties from the tiny state of Vermont is so well known, huh? The friggin media cannot get enough of his sorry kind of wisdom.
Making allowances for those in different time zones, it still seems to me SOME of you TODobots are allergic to your beds or to sleep! 🙄 🙄
Good Morning, TODobots all! May your Saturday be a dream with soft edges, and may you accomplish all you want to today!
Good Afternoon, Ms Chips, since given that 3am posting I suspect I won’t see your smiling face again until the day is much further advanced. Thank you for July which I’m about to watch. Did you see my earlier suggestion to do November and December now while the material is at hand, and then put them aside in a safe place till you are ready to ‘release’? Just trying to help with your organization. 😆 😆 Of course, don’t be like me, make sure the ‘safe place’ is somewhere you’ll remember when you are ready for them!
I watched it. Thanks, Ms Chips. 😀 😀 The Obamas are such an aloof and un-inspirational couple, and that Joe Biden character is not too far behind them. I don’t know what we did to deserve them!
A CEO throwing a party takes his executives on a tour of his opulent mansion. In the back of the property, the CEO has the largest swimming pool any of them has ever seen. The huge pool, however, is filled with hungry alligators. The CEO says to his executives “I think an executive should be measured by courage. Courage is what made me CEO. So this is my challenge to each of you: if anyone has enough courage to dive into the pool, swim through those alligators, and make it to the other side, I will give that person anything they desire. My job, my money, my house, anything!”
Everyone laughs at the outrageous offer and proceeds to follow the CEO on the tour of the estate. Suddenly, they hear a loud splash. Everyone turns around and sees the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) in the pool, swimming for his life. He dodges the alligators left and right and makes it to the edge of the pool with seconds to spare. He pulls himself out just as a huge alligator snaps at his shoes.
The flabbergasted CEO approaches the CFO and says, “You are amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. You are brave beyond measure and anything I own is yours. Tell me what I can do for you.”
The CFO, panting for breath, says, “I ant know which one of you bastards pushed me into the pool “
The result is a tax code that squeezes hundreds of billions of dollars more from the very well off — about $600 billion more over 10 years — while leaving the tax burden on everyone else mostly as it was. And the changes come after 30 years of both Republican and Democratic administrations doing the converse: zeroing out federal income taxes for many poor working families while also reducing the tax burden for households on the higher end of the income scale.
“Back at the end of the Carter and beginning of the Reagan administrations, we had a pretty severe income-tax burden for people at a low level of income. It was actually kind of appalling,” said Alan D. Viard, a tax expert at the American Enterprise Institute, a right-of-center research group in Washington. “Policy makers in both parties realized that was bad policy and started whittling away at it” by expanding credits and tinkering with tax rates.
After those changes and the new law, comparing average tax rates for poor households and wealthy households, 2013 might be the most progressive tax code since 1979. But economists cautioned that measuring progressivity is tricky. “It’s not like there is some scientific measure of progressivity all economists agreed upon,” said Leonard E. Burman, a professor of public affairs at Syracuse University. “People look at different numerical measures and they’ve changed in different ways at different income levels.”
Chipsticks, Thank you for the fantastic walk down July memory lane! I still marvel at how POTUS can make instant connections with most everyone he shakes hands with. It’s a skill, an art and cannot be done without a huge heart of goodness.
In my career I have occasions to speak in front of large groups and shake hands with people after and I feel so inadequate doing it – I forget to make eye contact or often miss someone or don’t know if I should extend my hand first or assume they don’t want to shake hands, etc. etc. But POTUS does all this so effortlessly AND he has people 4 rows deep who he reaches out to, says something and moves right along so easily. He is the only one I’ve seen do it this well. Even Bill Clinton and Reagan who are heralded as being able to connect with the average Joe did nothing of this sort. Bill Clinton did a good job of it but he often stopped to chat so long that he never got through the entire rope line or had to hurry through it later.
Just one more thing President Obama does better than anyone else.
It’s awful late/early, eh?
Ahh! Admiral Chips. I see you beat the Shore Patrol again.
lol yardarm – just watch Chip’s movie
and wow – I’m second – never got that close before
Got to be a real night owl like me or an early bird like you. I’m getting ready to go to bed. 🙂
Oh, congrats on making the top 10.
Just got to live on the other side of the world yardarm – 6.25pm in my world
And congrats on first
Where the hell are you? Without looking at my global watch.
I’m in Australia yardarm – at the moment, much of which is going up in summer fires – fortunately not in my part of the country
I kinda figured as much. Although I have a real native boomerang on my wall, I never got there. Missed it by Naval directive in ’67.

Woops – I did think I was replying to libra – well hello all the night owls
No worries. Life is good. 🙂
I Cant wait until I retire 🙂 I have an awful sleep pattern and sometimes Insomnia with just a few hours of sleep. I’m about to have a glass of Mascoto wine so I can go back to sleep, otherwise I will be up to 5am.

another great one, Chips. Good-morning…anybody?
Too funny!
Chips, everybody, did you know that your July “an image or two” is featured in Jeff Gauvin’s new blog: The American Audacity?
Did he give her credit ?
It says The Obama Diary. It looks just as it does here.
It appears that everything on his site is from other blogs/sites and “shared” by his Twitter followers. E.g., the July “image or two” video was shared by @tigerfist88 who also posts on TOD (albeit infrequently).
click the pic to embiggen.
Twice.
Best. Story. Ever. Thanks, amk!
Great story, isn’t it? I must confess I didn’t see the punchline coming.
Nor did I… but it was a humdinger!
Why is it that the most objectionable people are loud and like to draw attention to themselves and their hatred? /smh/ I actually thought they were going to move her up and she’d be so close to the pilot she’d see that the pilot was black. I like this ending better though.
Great story!
Another lovely video, Chips! What a great way to start the day. So, let’s see…if I’ve Ibeen up since 2AM, does that mean it’s late or early?
Seriously Chips? Sneaking this is in at an ungodly hour of the night/morning? 😆 I forgive you because it’s fantastic as usual.
You get HUUUUUUUUUGE thumbs up for using Chris Martin and Snow Patrol. You know your music Chica. Chris Martin and Snow Patrol?!?!?! HELL YES.
‘Seriously Chips? Sneaking this is in at an ungodly hour of the night/morning?’
Would you believe she was up all night putting it together and was too eager to get your response to wait until daylight? 😉
Wow.
WOW that was a wild ride!
Yep. That applies to the video AND the year!
LOL! Thanks for this UT. Of course they ended on a “PBO” note. 🙂
Now that’s the kind of fast movement that gives me a headache, probably because I’m trying to make sense of each snippet and my brain can’t keep up.

have you heard anything about who the DEM challenger to Corbett will be…
No, PF, but at the January State Democratic Committee, some of these candidates will start to emerge. I heard someone say that Sestak might step forward. I think he might have the best chance, especially since he said last time that he had learned to spend more time focusing on the T. If he comes into the campaign smarter and more organized than he did in his senate race, he could win. Methinks Sestak is going to run. Hopefully, he will do a better job campaigning in the city. His campaign in Phila was non-existent.

Did anyone see Ed Schultz last night and one trick pony Bernie Sanders trashing PBO over Social Security ?

I came home from work last night just in time to see Rd Schultz. All it took was to hear that Bernie Sanders was on and I changed the channel.
