Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts will again administer the oath of office to President Barack Obama during his second inauguration this month, the Presidential Inaugural Committee announced on Friday.

Good Morning all. Resting with serious back issues before I go to work this afternoon. I did make a very important call this morning. I called my new rep in the House. I am in a new district. Yes, Florida 22 was suppose to go red but we got a blue rep. She heard from me this morning at 9:02am. I suggest we all call our reps and let them know we expect them to work for our President and us. Here is the link to find yours:

Remember to congratulate them and welcome them in your phone call. Love to all, Sue

Good morning. Excellent idea! Keep the pressure on all year.
After viewing PBO’s video, he confirmed what I woke thinking this morning. Yes, we won the election. But WE must stay connected. I cringe when I think of the Congress that was allowed to get in office 2013. I get sick when I reminisce how complacent WE got in NY and allowed Bloomberg, The Short One to buy another term. My heart breaks when I read about how Michigan Gov. Rick Synder suddenly reversed his position on so called “right-to-work” legislation.
It is those “suddenly” behind the scene, sneaky moves that gets me.

Last year I and some others here felt that after the disrespect that was shown towards our president in the last four years and up until and including now, we would bow out of the political playground. Some even talked of moving out of the country if PBO did not win his deserved second term. Now, I have second thoughts. Too many people are clueless and helpless to fight the powers that be because we for decades were all brainwashed by the media and their rhetoric, some more than others. I seriously thought that PL and emprogs were for helping the poor instead of their own pockets(seriously, are these Hippies from the ’60’s who got happy with being wealthy?) I just don’t get what and why they are so disgruntled. Deep down inside are they really republicans and too chicken to admit it?
So I feel this change and diversity that has been long over due in OUR country feels too good to turn in back in the hands of the “walking dead”. They are all evil and confused. We must not allow them to take us to their graves.

Here in Chicago, a four-block carve-out in my district moved me from my reliable Mike Quigley to Luis guittierez. Yeah, he’s a Democrat but he can be insane sometimes. Contacting my congressman will now really be on my radar.

these swingy districts in particular require vigilance on our part.

For the first 15-20 minutes of the MouningJoke show today was spent complaining about the President for not massaging anyone in Congress.

Joe….Mrs Greenspan and Al Hunt all went after him because he , get this….

” Prefers to spend time with his family ” than svck up to the egos in Congress.

The only one that did not pile on was Michael Steele.

I wish someone would ask these people if they think Congressional leaders would change their policy positions because of a few drinks. Boehner is controlled by his teabagger caucus and McConnell is controlled by big money doners. They no longer have pork to bribe members. The conversation is absurd.

BARNEY FRANK TELLS A BIT OF TRUTH ON MORNING JOE (MUST SEE)

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/50362758/#.UOb0xLbJK_V

NOTE: Be forewarned “ace reporter” Bob Woodward is on the panel and he is very concerned that President Obama has not done more “schmoozing” with members of Congress. You know, the members of congress who attended a meeting on the night of his inauguration and decided they would block everything he tried to do. As far as Bob Woodward is concerned it’s all President Obama’s fault that there is so much dysfunction in congress. Lack of schmoozing was a missed opportunity according to Woodward. smdh

They all wanted “a new Washington” until it arrived. They all wanted “family values” until PBO had more family values that all of the GOP in congress. They all wanted to get rid of earmarks until they found out they couldn’t get any more earmarks. It doesn’t matter what the GOP want – once they get it – they don’t want it any more.

When President Obama took office he invited John Boehner and other congressional republicans to weekly wednesday night socials at the White House, several super bowl parties, State dinners, etc and all invitations were declined by the Republicans who were too busy plotting to destroy him…

The one or two who even bothered to show up did so mostly to find any nugget of gossip or misinformation to further insult and demean the President…tweeting photos of cookies they were served at the WH and wondering if the ‘acorn-shaped’ cookies were a salute to the now defunct Acorn group – you remember that all powerful group that stole the elections for the President…

And now the beltway noisemakers want you to believe that the President never reached out, that it’s his fault for refusing to ‘socialize’ with the opposition…

And in their all-knowing wisdom, the very same belt way gossips like Bob Woodard who are chopping at the bit for any hint of scandal that will taint the President, insist that until the President completely gives up the very limited family time he now has he would not have shown any ‘good faith’ effort at outreach to republicans…

There is something incredibly insidious, dishonest, deceptive, unsettling and evil about ‘journalists’ like Andrea Mitchell who know the truth but still push such obvious lies to attack the President while protecting the most hostile and most destructive republican opposition in modern history…

The biggest thing President Obama has going for him, the most attractive thing and what most Americans – even those who don’t support him – love and admire most about him, is his family. The love and bond he share with his wife and the amazing jib they’ve done with their daughters…

That is now the prime target for the Republicans and their media mouth pieces like Bob Woodard and Andrea Mitchell…if they can destroy or taint the President’s marriage/ family life, they will have succeeded finally their mad push to take him down…

The President has won re-election and gotten stuff done inspite of them all and knows too well that no amount of shmoozing in this late hour will make a chink of difference in negotiations with the devil…nor will the beltway gossips even give him credit if he for some crazy reason decided to out himself through the crap again…

They’d be too busy guffawing about who snubbed the President and who humiliated him – and snooping out every last bit of made up scandalous gossip they can squeeze out from whatever minimal interaction had with the President to provide fodder for Bob Woodard to write yet another one of those ‘I really, really hate and despise that arrogant, weak, bully, hawkish, dovish, know nothing, know it all, wish he would cheat on his wife, why does he love Michelle so much, Michelle is too influential, Michelle has no input, Michelle just can’t be bothered, has no interest in policy, WH staff have no use for her, Michelle’s Harvard and Princeton degrees are wasting away while she prefers to play mother to those two girls, why can’t we have the girls complete schedule and print outs of every cell phone conversation, Michelle feels ignored and wants out, their marriage is in trouble, did I just tell you how much I really, really hate Obama, how dare he not bring me into his inner circle, his cabinet hate him and lead him around by the nose, oh for those wonderful scandal free Clinton presidency days again, why can’t Obama be more like the great husband and family man Bill Clinton was, did I tell you just how much I hate Obama’ hit job in hardback and paperback editions…

A FUNDAMENTAL MISUNDERSTANDING OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET

    Obama spending binge never happened

    By Rex Nutting

    —————————-

Over Obama’s four budget years, federal spending is on track to rise from $3.52 trillion to $3.58 trillion, an annualized increase of just 0.4%.

There has been no huge increase in spending under the current president, despite what you hear.

Why do people think Obama has spent like a drunken sailor? It’s in part because of a fundamental misunderstanding of the federal budget.
    .
    .
What people forget (or never knew) is that the first year of every presidential term starts with a budget approved by the previous administration and Congress. The president only begins to shape the budget in his second year. It takes time to develop a budget and steer it through Congress — especially in these days of congressional gridlock.

BUT, HE IS WAY AHEAD OF THEM AND WITH GRACEFUL STANCE AND ALL THAT CAN BE MUSTERED BY THE HANDS OF GOD…HE AND WE SHALL OVERCOME. The way the President did it, he can start this term on a good upside. As he said, he always does the pragmatic, what is possible, and will take progress in increments…..like life.

Cool comment from LOD last night:

” If you’ve ever actually tried to get a Republican in the House or Senate to vote on an income tax rate increase, proposed by a Democratic president–if you’ve done that–and perhaps only if you’ve done that, then you understand how hard it was for President Obama to get a tax
increase out of a Republican House of Representatives and out of a Senate where the Republicans can block anything.

Most pundits and members of Congress for that matter have never negotiated anything more complicated than a car loan or a mortgage and some of them will surely continue to criticize the President’s negotiating skills but the President was playing a very long game here.

Literally years of strategizing including allowing a two-year extension of the Bush rates in order to get strategically positioned, so that he could force Republicans to cast a vote they vowed never to cast.”

    • 151 Japa21
      January 4, 2013 at 12:27 pm

Something else I found out from LOD is that the 400K-450K threshold is basically what it would have been for the higher tax bracket if Bush had never cut taxes anyway. The Clinton taxes had 200-250 as the dividing line and the tax income levels rise with COLA configurations. By now that 200 would have been 399K anyway. In other words, the current level is at the same level as the Clinton rates. (This may have been reported before here as I think it was from Wednesday’s show.)

        January 4, 2013 at 12:43 pm

I had heard that earlier and heard it again from Lawrence last night.

The other thing in Lawrence’s piece last night that he inferred if not said out loud: Clinton ‘caved’ on the environmental tax but got no grief for it, because that’s how negotiations happen to get shit passed. The same liberals who thought nothing of it in 1993, are screaming at PBO’s massive accomplishments now because they’re not perfect enough. Drives me nuts.

          January 4, 2013 at 1:21 pm

Exactly. And herein lies my primary objection to the word “cave” almost exclusively reserved for PBO and the DEM party under PBO’s leadership. It’s used as a derogatory term to perpetuate the negative stereotype of President Obama as a weak, and stupid negotiator.

That’s the absolute Truth, hopefruit! What infuriates me even more is the way some pundit or reporter starts a rumor about what the President gave up in negotiations, which then sparks the howling about the President and Democrats caving. I keep wondering what happened to claims that he “caved” by accepting cuts in SS and raising the medicare eligibility age? None of these were part of the deal, although they caused a great deal of commotion and unjustified attacks on the President.

LOD was spot-on. A responsible president knows when to compromise in order to advance the greater good for all Americans. Even the Great FDR had to compromise, (with his own Democratic party at that), when the Social Security Act was enacted. To appease Dixie-crats, the SS act excluded Agricultural and Domestic workers. It took Congress 38-45 years before amending the SS Act to include Agricultural and Domestic workers respectively.

Hello TOD. Chips, chips, chips. Thanks so much for posting that video of PBO being sworn in. I lost track of it. My favorite part- Sasha skipping and hopping and waving to the cameras. She stole my heart long time ago, and still remains a darling to me. I’ve read people trying to determine which daughter looks like which parent. To me, Sasha has her daddy’s eyes, and Malia is Michelle all the way. Love that family 😀

I think of physical resemblance the other way with Malia, the oldest looking like her Dad and Sasha looking more like her Mom. I do see that the personalities may influence some the other way around, but I see neither parent as shy. Malia seems quieter and more shy than Sasha.

Why is this damn media so obsessed with “taxpayer dollars” when it comes to this President?? What the disingenuous media fails to report is that ALL Presidents are given a FLAT allowance of so much per year. Regardless of whether the President is visiting his home state of Hawaii with his family, or clearing brush on his fake Ranch in Texas, the same amount of tax payer dollars are going towards that allowance. End of story.

My personal taxes have not gone up to pay for President Obama’s Hawaiian vacations. Maybe the ‘duly concerned’ media should instead worry about my tax dollars funding the health care, salaries and perks of Republicans in congress who do absolutely nothing but spend 6 months a year pushing useless legislation on abortion and post-office names, and the other 6 months on vacation.

In 2012…..pres Obama unequivocally issued a firm warning that any Person or Nation threatening OUR Cyber space, Electric Grid, etc would be seen by the USA Gov’t as an act of war.

Al Qaeda attacked USA on 9-11-01 and USA went to war and eventually eliminated OBL.

USA is the World’s Biggest Economy and our Currency is practically the World’s Trading Currency.

So why is our National Media, Dems and Americans treating the TERROR that these TBGOPers have done in 2011 and Now as political Tactics? If Cyber attacks are acts of War……but shutting down OUR economy that would send the world and Us into depression is political Tactics? And those publicly, privately doing so TOOK OATHS to defend these USA?

Speaking against GW Bush’s Iraq war and Most of Us were accused as Traitors, supporting the terrorists, and we were being unAmerican? yet NO Dem is forcefully using the same type of Verbiage to seriously explain what these TBGOPers are threatening to do? Come on, Dems……this is No longer a laughing matter. TBGOPers need to be called out, seriously and repeatedly. Those on twitter and those on FaceBook, etc should help Us make this the TOPIC to change how the media has been covering this story. At the intersection of recklessness and stupidity

    By Steve Benen

    ——————————————–

It’s really not that complicated. Congress approves federal spending, the executive branch follows through accordingly. When the legislative branch spends more than it takes it, the executive branch has to borrow the difference.

In the 1930s, Congress came up with the debt ceiling, mandating the White House to get permission to borrow the money that Congress has already spent. If McConnell, Cornyn, and their hostage-taking friends refuse to raise the ceiling, the administration can’t pay the nation’s bills. It’s that simple.

Either GOP lawmakers like McConnell and Cornyn haven’t yet grasped these basic details, or they’re cynically hoping the public is easily misled by bogus rhetoric. Either way, there’s little hope of a sensible public debate if Senate Republican leaders repeat nonsense about a looming national crisis.

It really makes me laugh when SINO Boehner has the nerve to form his lips to say that President Obama must lead. After the debacle of his plan b vote and throwing up his hands and turning everything over to the senate, it’s PBO who has a leadership problem. The contempt he has for the American people is astonishing. I heard just a little bit of his speech yesterday. What the heck was that??

This is a recovery that has happened no-where else in the world. Australia is supposedly doing well compared to Europe with its recovery – but our share market is still way below the 2007 high (main index got to 6873 in Oct 2007, low 3090 in March 2009, it closed Friday at 4742 – so still a long way back).

The economics of the US recovery owes a massive debt to the President and his administration. It seems that business well understands that – hopefully that will belt some sense into the few remaining sane republicans in congress.

Club for Growth and what their founder says…the voters that put these CFG endorsed idiots back in office, are fools.

“I can say this because I’m not an elected official: the most selfish group in America today is senior citizens. Their demands on Washington are: ‘Give us more and more and more.’ They have become the new welfare state, and given the size and political clout of this constituency, it’s very dangerous. One of the biggest myths in politics today is this idea that grandparents care about their grandkids.
