Morning Ms Chips and TODville! THANK YOU all for a 2012 filled with information, humour and a wide range of emotions. This year I have grown a lot alongside all of you, although some of the (outward) growth cannot be blamed (bummer) on you.

Best Wishes to EVERYONE going forward

Bonjour, OMF. πŸ˜† More likely too much lack of activity since I don’t eat turkey and can’t say that I’ve had any reason to be stressed. Of course, put like that it is TOD’s fault after all. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

I’m on the wets coast in the US so it is morning NEW YEAR’S EVE. Happy New Year to the TOD family. I love this site. It has become my primary news source. The NEWTOWN tribute video is painfully beautiful. I stand with the PRESIDENT on gun control. He wants to get it done in 2013. If we all stand with PBO, it can happen in 2013.

  9. December 31, 2012 at 11:16 am

Good morning Chips and TOD family. Happy New Years Eve to everyone. Congrats Sweetbay on being first this blessed day.

2013 on track to be a good year. Glad it’s President Obama taking us the rest of the way for a full recovery.

This is what this year was all about! America spoke!
Rachel lays it out like no one else can. Definitely Emmy worthy!

This really is a wonderful clip. I may have problems with Maddow on a number of issues, but she hit every note on this one. We dodged so many bullets on November 6 and she lays them all out in row. Happy New Year to you, dudette.

i remember watching this at the time with tears streaming down my face. what a superb summation of the contrasts presented in the election of 2012, and what a chilling reminder of what almost, but decidedly did not, happen!

I finally gave up and went to bed last night when my eyes closed three times with the light still on! Sometimes I get so dam tired of the respect this President doesn’t get, weither it’s from those crazy ass Republicans, the equally stupid media, or equally stupid Democrats. Is there any wonder FLOTUS doesn’t want anything to do with politics. I can’t blame her at all.

    • 65 CEB
      December 31, 2012 at 11:30 am

I know, but if it helps remember that almost 52% of the electorate showed its respect for him on Nov. 6, many of whom overcame great obstruction to do so.

Good Morning Chips and the TOD family. Happy New Year’s Eve. My kids have gone back to heir homes, so has my sister, so hubby and I are staying in tonight, eating Chinese food and drinking Champagne (actually sparkling wine, Chandon) and watching the ball drop in NYC. Whatever happens with the fiscal cliff/curb, I trust President Obama. I know he has been fighting for us all and will not give up. He is simply the.best.president.EVER.

Thanks for posting Rachel’s MSNBC ad. I wish other reporters were sincere. What I learned by getting up early today, Chuck Todd is the WORST person reporting at MSNBC. Toss-up with Luke though. Cris Ciliza has the worst voice. Why am I watching? Run through DVR and watch commercials, ears to hands on remote. MSNBC is still bragging about their “get” with the President. I’ve been watching TV for almost an hour I think, and no word on SOS Clinton. Hope your are fine SOS Clinton. I won’t tell you how Ciliza started the broadcast with his headlines. You would be very mad. I can’t remember exact phrase, but it was stupid. I’m still irritated with MTP. Jason Linkins posted a funny Eat the Press at Huffington. Made them sound very foolish. Gregory must be sensitive to twitter remarks because he read one on air. Send him more… May everyone’s New Year be better than other years. Stay safe. Don’t let the little stuff get you. FORWARD we go!

I laughed yesterday, when – instead of endless showings of “Lockup” – MSNBC played endless showings of MTP! They knew their ratings were sky high (and I’d like to see those figures) when it first showed on NBC and replayed on MSNBC, so they just kept GETTING THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE OUT to lots of other Americans. Loved it. Dick Gregory was as relevant as a potted plant.

Mornin’, all. Happy New Year’s Eve, and Happy New Year to those already celebrating around the globe! Just spotted Joy-Ann Reid on MSNBC, so I’ll be watching her … but she announced (it must be Take Your Kid to Work Day) that Luke Russert will be on later, so no thanks on that.

Enjoy your day, TOD! Thanks for being here for us, Chips, on our final day of the Old Year. And what a year it was, on so many levels! A few snow flurries so far in Central Illinois, but I’m pretending I didn’t see that!

Joy Reid- Jonathan Chait asks why is Ibama caving on taxes?
So then she asks? What has he gotten in return?
    Her too?
It does not take long for potential Obama Anchor/supporters, to pull the MSNNC line of Obama is caving, does it?
Thus, MSNBC should be renamed Obama is caving channel, it’s pathetic.
    That is all.!

      December 31, 2012 at 12:25 pm

A lot of confusion. Bu tif PBO is accepting a change in the level where taxes are raised from 250K to 450-500K, then it is a legitimate question to ask what is received in return. I am reserving judgement on the “deal” until all aspects are confirmed.

        December 31, 2012 at 12:30 pm

How are these emoprogs complaining that the President “caved” when there is no deal???? These media fools are just too much.

      • December 31, 2012 at 1:25 pm

It’s the debt limit that is troubling. He has to be prepared to go over it and stop this hostage taking on the right.
When Republicans don’t get their checks, they will then scream at their deleted officials. Until then…

  30. December 31, 2012 at 12:14 pm

Chips, I didn’t get a chance to thank you for the April video. Looks like the President had a serious lot of fun that month. He needs more fun in his life. He works way too hard.

    Charts for talking fiscal cliff

    By Laura Conaway

If you find yourself home for the holidays and arguing about the fiscal cliff, try these two charts. First, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities shows how we got all this red ink. Simply, the Bush tax cuts did it. Letting go of the tax cuts for the rich would save $950 billion in deficits over the next decade, the Center says. It’s worth reading their whole post.

Congress and the Press (Sung to the tune of “There’s a Church in the Valley”)

There are snakes in the valley by the wildwood
    No nastier snakes in congress
No spot is so sore in my adulthood
As the dirty vile snakes in the Congress

Oh run run run from the snakes in the wildwood
Oh run from the snakes in congress
No spot is so sore in my adulthood
As the dirty vile snake in the Congress

How sad on gray New Year’s morning
    To read about the media’s-hysterics
They sound so silly, we’re saying
We are tired of their old worn-out shticks

Oh run run run from the snakes in the wildwood
Oh run from the snakes in the Press
No spot is sore in my adulthood
As the dirty vile snakes in the Press

Hello to Chopsticks and the fine folks around the campfire here. I love reading the commentary, and I LOVE/ADORE/Depend Upon TOD daily, for the lifeline to sanity, clarity, reality, humanity, and honesty about my President, his family, his work, and the State of the Union we are living in every day. Especially loving the Months-in-Review, and the musical interludes from one and all. Grateful for this space, for Chipsticks’s work and insight, and for another four years of leadership, integrity and inching closer to the more perfect union with liberty and just for all. All. Yep, them too. Yep, us too. All. To the best year ever: 2013!
