Totally off-topic, but glorious none the less: My favorite nerd, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, cutting a rug at his dept’s holiday party, barefoot, dancing to MJ. Nerd friggin’ rule!
I don't dance often. But when I do, it's shoeless, it's at my Department's Holiday party, and it's to MJ http://t.co/vrbvwUJe
I just spent some time tonight talking to my friend about him – because she received some of his lectures as a Christmas gift. We were fighting over who liked him more! I saw one of his lectures to younger children once and was deeply impressed because all he wanted to do was get them excited about science, as he had been given that opportunity. (The only negative from him for me was when he thought he was going to be nominated by PBO as NASA Administrator in the first term, and when he wasn’t, he kinda turned on PBO a little … but never heard another negative about him after that. I try to forget these things, because they’re all based on their egos, but it’s a little hard when “friends” turn on him.)
Thanks for confirming that – I was beginning to wonder if I were thinking about the wrong guy. I don’t remember his exact badmouthing as much as didn’t he become a PUMA after that? Oh, well, I’m supposed to be healing those wounds for myself, leaving them behind!
Live-tweeting MTP went fairly well for a bunch of old amateurs. Wow – David Gregory asks rude questions! Loved how our Pres did not let him get under his skin at all. #middleclassovermillionaires #dontdroptheball
Thanks Ms Chips – lovely to hear the legend Brother Bob Marley (Jah Rastafari). He was a genius whose music will never be old and a worthy to be the music in a video of the peerless PBO and FLOTUS.
Richard Wollffee made an interesting comment…that the GOP is essentially 2 parties….they can unify around saying No to PBO but they cannot unify to say Yes to PBO….
Sat across the isle from him on flight from Atlanta to DC ….. many years ago …. we had about 18 aircraft ahead of us for take off …. suddenly the pilot steers the plane to the left onto an alternate path and we move to the head of the stack and up up and away …. looked over at James and he just winked 🙂
Well, Well, Kasai! Taking us oldies back to the the good old days when our bodies could dance to the “BIG Payback.” As far as I am concerned, James Brown was one of the greatest showman who also happened to be a first class musician. I really love and appreciate all the music lovers on this site. I just can’t imagine what life would be without music, dance and laughter.
Hannity’s program is a case of the uninformed leading the uniformed. He didn’t have what it took to finish college, and he has no background in politics. It’s amazes me that people waste their time listening to him make sh*t up and read it off a TelePrompTer. If I were a republican, after November 6, I’d be finished with Fox News.
Meant to type, It amazes me.
Yep, only in America can one get rich by feeding a steady stream of lies to gullible people, GGail, only in America. All of the hosts on Fox and others like Limbaugh, Medved and Jones have made a fortune telling uninformed Americans the things they want to hear. Trashing PBO and his policies has definitely put more money in their bank accounts. If I had a well at my house in the desert, I wouldn’t give them a sip of water if they were passing by. I’d tell them “I built this, go dig your own well.” I’d give them a taste of their own medicine.
Maybe they finally figured it that Sean, Bill-O, and all the others are millionaires and don’t give a crap about them and wants the GOTP to privatize their SS and Medicare.
Yes Indeed, Jojothecat. All of these right wing talk show hosts are multi-millionaires. They don’t have to worry about the cost of healthcare. They can retire comfortably without Social Security. Sadly (and may be even tragically), their followers are the ones who would suffer if the policies that these right winger talk show hosts advocate were enacted into law. A good example is Rush Limbaugh who poses as an advocate of family values. If I am not mistaken he is now on his third (or is it fourth) marriage. He is also a certified drug user/abuser. He can afford all these idiosyncrasies because he also happens to earn millions of dollars in salaries every year. For a person who gets paid a $4,000,000 year salary, privatizing SS or Medicare would absolutely have zero impact on him and his family. But he is clever enough to subliminally use some race baiting to whip his listeners into a frenzy to oppose President Obama and the Democrats.
Of course this is nothing new in the history of American politics. After all, a very small minority of Southern Slave owners were able to convince the vast majority of Southern whites who did not own slaves to support the war of secession whose sole purpose was the protection and preservation of slavery.
President Obama offered to raise it to $400,000. Boehner proposed to raise it to one million, but he couldn’t get his House Republicans to vote for it. Doesn’t seem to matter to them what the offer is. They will say “no” no matter what.
I am soooo glad that VP Biden didn’t jump when McConnell called for his assistance! Joey isn’t have any of the republicans’ divide and conquer strategy. I love that PBO chose Senator Biden for his VP. They’re like two peas in a pod.
I can’t believe McConnell did this – presumably he thought the “white dude” would understand that they must join together against those who look different. This is like kids at school attempting to bully the intelligent one – and getting his friends on “their side”. McConnell needs to be called out on this by every person in the country – the racism of the GOP has been well on show today.
I don’t think it has to do with race. I don’t think McConnell likes the president period. The president has not assigned this task to Joe so I believe this is an exercise in futility on McConnell’s side. PBO is the boss. Even Joe will tell you that.
OH forgoodness sake Chipsticks! That sounds like you gripping about one of your birthday cakes that you make for us that look lovely, then you complain about the mess and the missing ingredients – well, we can’t tell it isn’t a masterpiece 🙂
‘…well, we can’t tell it [birthday cake] isn’t a masterpiece.’
Wh-a-a-t! Please, GGail! Let’s not go too far to the other side to reassure Chips that April is fantabulous! The ‘April image or two’ is indeed FANTABULOUS, but the cake analogy just doesn’t work for me. I’ll say no more on THAT head. Chips, dear, the April collage AND music are vunderbar and NBC can eat their sour grapes.
Mission accomplished, eh? {{GGail}} A very east coast ‘good evening’ to you Miss G! I suppose you are winding down now so that you can get some rest before heading back to work tomorrow? Well, sweet dreams when you do settle in.
I’m enjoying Chips’ inspirational monthly ‘minder videos of how blessed we are to have this man as our President. Not a day goes by when someone on Twitter doesn’t express just how they love PBO. Just a few examples of “I LOVE MY PRESIDENT” from yesterday and today:
Gregory: “What is it about you, Mr. President, that you think is so hard to say yes to?”
By smartypants
———————————-
I don’t expect journalists to have degrees in history. But I do think that the least we should be able to expect from someone like David Gregory is that, when interviewing the President of the United States, he isn’t completely oblivious to the recorded facts about the Republican Party’s strategy developed just 4 years ago.
And yet this morning on Meet the Press, David Gregory completely ignored those facts and asked, “What is it about you, Mr. President, that you think is so hard to say yes to?”
I’d like to recommend some reading material to Mr. Gregory. The Republican Party’s strategy since the day of President Obama’s inauguration has been well documented. But perhaps nowhere more thoroughly than by Michael Grunwald. Here’s how Ohio Senator George Voinovich summarized it:
Smartypants is, as far as I am concerned, one of the smartest and most genuine political analyst blogger. I really learn so much from her, Deaniac, Norbrook, POU posters, and of course chips and all the smart people who post on TOD.
I guess he’s conservative in the same way as Andrew Sullivan is, who linked to this article yesterday, which explains why the GOP refuses to make a deal:
“For Republicans, losing the political fight isn’t a downside of the strategy. It is the strategy.”
Slightly off-topic but did you see David Gregory dancing on the Today Show last week? He actually did pretty well but this doesnt mean that I approve of his interviewing skills.
I’m happy to hear he is skilled at something because he’s certainly NOT skilled when it comes to practicing good journalism. Just about anyone could do his job–acting as a mouthpiece for the GOP. All it takes is the ability to memorize their talking points.
I have very little patience for a gushfest over David Gregory’s dancing ability or any other thing for that matter…
Here’s a guy so hellbent on protecting and shilling for people who threaten our Union while disrespecting the sitting President and folks want to discuss the asshole’s dancing…
No need to get offended we all know what he is about . However I noticed his dancing last week and did not connct him to Meet the Press for some reason and mentioned how well he danced. We all still very much love and are very protective of President Obama.
Hear, hear, majiir! There is absolutely no reason why a supposedly good dancer can’t also be an ethical journalist. If Gregory thinks he can’t be both a good dancer and an ethical journalist then he needs to retire from journalism. In my book, David Gregory sucks as a journalist. He is always regurgitating the Republican talking points whenever he questions Democrats. He did the same today with President Obama. Since I have not observed his dancing skills I am going to trust members of TOD who claim that he is a good dancer. So, he may be a good dancer, but he is a despicable, deceitful, journalist.
Thank you for this comment, nathkatun7. David Gregory is a rude, distasteful, deceitful, jealous, person who has yet to give respect to President Obama. I do not like him, and I certainly do not like how he constantly bashing the president.
Karma will visit David Gregory for all of his ugly and disrespectful ways to this president. Admit it people, call these people for who and what they are and stand for concerinng President Obama.
President is being very professional, polite, and respectful because that is his core of who he is as a man as surely as our president, but I am not the president, and I will say what POTUS can’t say in his position.
David Gregory is a phony ugly spirit. Plain and simple.HZ
Actually Dudette, you clearly read my mind – because that’s exactly the song I had in mind and was about to go on Youtube and retrieve the video but got distracted! 🙂 🙂
I really hope that Key and Peele puts together a skit about D.Gregory asking POTUS the “why is that” question. They will be able to REALLY translate what President Obama was thinking… LOL!!!!
they’re pretty clever – if they didn’t see it, then someone in their camp did and will bring it to their attention. It’s tooooooo delicious to pass up. I would love to hear their interpretation.
David Gregory’s kids attend the same school as Sasha and Malia. That’s why he was quarter decent during that interview. Otherwise he would’ve been plain nasty. He was rude enough already as it is.
Hello everyone – markets are down in my world today (31st) but not as much as expected – it seems most think the President has this one – the GOP surely know everyone (except a few media fools) are against them – but will take every minute they have to admit it.
Thanks hopefruit – I noticed that – what I would love is if PBO and the VP met up this evening and had a beer together – I still cannot believe that McConnell decided the VP would help out the “white guys” . The GOP truly is living in 1952 – or earlier.
Unbelievable! Dismissing the fact that PBO cut his Vacation short to come back to negotiations…McConnell just needs a hood, he’s not ashamed to show how he feels about brown folks….
Wow—–I really hope she’ll be okay. I’m thinking now about all the Repub jerks who were making jokes about her concussion, that she was using it as an excuse to avoid Benghazi hearings. I would think they would feel really foolish about now—-but probably not—-they seem to lack any sense of decency.
SOS Clinton has been on my mind all day. I was looking back over the photos from Burma, just wondering how she is doing, and this news. I will light a candle for her. And always for my President.
Oh no! I hope they remove the clot and she recovers very quickly. That must have been some fall she took. Her family
must be very worried. All good thoughts and wishes for her and her family.
Sorry to hear about the bad news about SoS, Clinton! Prayers for Secretary Clinton’s speedy recovery. Blood clots can be complicated to treat. I spent three weeks in the hospital because of a blood clot that was caused by a car accident I was involved in.
Ditto, Chips. The moment they mentioned ‘concussion’ and the duration of her absence have caused me to be increasingly concerned. Fortunately, she will get the best care available to anyone.
Hiya Bob, the reports just left me worried, seemed like there was more to them than they were saying. Wishing Hillary the best, she’s a truly amazing woman.
Very much so, Chips. With what they conveyed, and the absence of any evidence she was recovering made each day that has passed a bit more concerning to me. Ordinarily, we would have seen a photo or some indication she was doing much better. nada …
Oh shit! That clot has to be somewhere in the head and that ain’t good. Watch those bastard rethugs start squawking about her not being able to testify now.
Out of respect that I’d show for any patient, I’ll not offer specifics on the likely nature of her situation other than to say that some of the stuff I’ve seen in tweets makes no sense, medically. Given the nature of her injury and the time delay before admission to the hospital this afternoon, any reasonably well trained physician, or medical care provider, would know what the differential diagnosis is, and what needs to be done (diagnostic radiology and intervention). She is at an outstanding medical institution. She’ll receive the best care imaginable.
True Lootenant. I only speak from my experience from extensive brain surgery I had to remove a brain tumor that covered half my brain. It had been with me a looong time and took quite a bit of time to manifest itself into external signs. That is to say that cranial problems are not open and shut events.
So glad you recovered, sailor!!!!! And, you are correct. Anything involving the brain is a big deal and much can happen, if it evolves slowly, before any symptoms emerge.
Yes, I know – all too well. But, you are here with us and that matters, most. And, while far from perfect, all my colleagues are constantly striving to improve outcome, especially by detecting events much, much sooner.
Wow Yardarm! What a harrowing experience that must have been for you! I’m so glad you recovered! To think you might not have been with us. Kinda makes one think it wasn’t just Chips that brought our little family together. Maybe fate a hand in it too. {{{Yardarm}}}
It’s truly a blessing, yardarm, that you were able to survive from a brain tumor through surgery. We were not so fortunate with our 14 year-old daughter The problem was that her tumor was lodged between the stem of her brain and the spinal cord. She underwent surgery but the surgeon was not able to remove all the tumor. Neither did radiation and chemotherapy. She passed away, two years later, at 16.
Sorry for your loss. There are no words. Believe me when I say that I count my blessings every day. I can’t move around like I use to but I wouldn’t have been able to interact with you good folks otherwise.
Stay strong. GOD will.
Been a lurking, but just had to respond to your comments Nath. So sorry about your daughter. It kinda explain about your bewilderment about your other loved one recently. Tumors, strokes, etc. wreak havoc on our brains.
And Yard, my friend you are special. Every thing happens for a reason known or unknown. We are survivors.
Thank you Chi, Yardarm and Mae for your kind words. My daughter passed away twenty years ago. She would have been 36 years in May. She was a very special girl. Very kind and caring. I agree with you, Mae, “Every thing happens for a reason known or unknown.” I feel blessed to know special people, like Yardarm, who share so much joy and wisdom with us.
Thanks Bobfr for this tweet! I am so sick of hateful people who tried to politicize Sec. Clinton’s injury. It’s really a very sad day in our country when everything is viewed through the prism of political ideology.
Go on, Yardarm! Your music selections really capture the true essence of Obama supporters. I love Barbara Streisand. If I am not mistaken, I think she is an Obot.
Of course Joe Biden will talk with him. He’s a decent, courteous man and he won’t be rude, for the president’s as well as for his own. But Biden will do nothing that would in any way contradict PBO. If anything he will probably tell McConnell to accept Reid’s deal and move on.
And they’re not the only ones—–lots of snarky remarks by rt. wing media hosts and guffaws by multiple Repub politicians on multiple TV shows. 100’s of apologies needed.
Have to agree with you, Dudette, and it’s been around in one form or another for a very long time. Most of time civilized people don’t express their most evil thoughts in public. Republicans don’t have those restraints. Because they don’t like our president they feel free to be as ugly as it’s possible to be.
If one of them offers an apology, it will be the standard non-apology–“If I offended anyone, blah, blah, blah. I never expect a genuine apology from these folks because, in their minds, they’re always right, and they think apologizing for anything is a sign of weakness.
From the Bloomberg article that Arapaho referenced above, this stuck out like a klaxon:
The California Republican Party has shown over the past two decades that kicking and screaming and being unreasonable can help secure a cozy minority of legislative seats with a true-believing party base behind you. It’s a strategy that works. It’s just not a strategy that works for building electoral majorities.
So, yes, please national GOP, be like the CA GOP. It now only holds 1/3 of the seats in the CA legislature, so it is basically irrelevant. But if you just want to grift to suck off the public teat, then it’s a great strategy for those who can get the work.
Thank you Pamela, I lit one and will light a candle here at home for her too. I am so concerned about her. Please everyone, pray, or send healing thoughts her way. We need her.
I was going to come here and gloat a little about my Denver Broncos. I don’t feel like gloating now, with news of SOS. That it harder than Dumerville and Miller.
I’ll gloat with you Carol. We use to live in Boulder and became great Bronco fans.
I also agree about being sad for SOS. Sure pray she gets better. One of our young friends who was home over Christmas has a new job at the State Department. He will be starting on the 3rd. I am so proud of him. He will be working with Pakitstan, Iran and Lybia. I know we have wonderful young people coming up in service. The old white guys will be getting out numbered, I pray.
I do hope we can get these Repubs out in 2014. We have to get a Congress that is interested in governing.
That’s great for your young friend. The Bronkos know how to get you on board. My oldest son is working in Denver and wife in Boulder. We were just ther about a month ago. They live in Lafeyette, but it seems all a part of a denver when you pass Boulder to us.
Of course the NRA don’t want assault weapons in the hands of the black men. If we were running buying Bushmasters like the white man have been doing, the first thing they would be saying is we have got to get some kind of gun control bill pass.
Good grief, Gregory thinks the Seniors need tough talk? The 2% need a tough talk. What a stupid thing to say. He really got on my nerves. I’m wondering why no one is posting. Is there news breaking on TV or Internet?
Well, don’t the seniors are the ones watching his stupid show and then go vote en bloc for the thugs? They need tough talk alright. About their stupidity.
Yeah, Carol, those seniors barely scraping by on their SS checks and dealing with age related health problems really need some tough talk. That’ll do it. Suck it up, seniors. Eat less, suffer in silence. Try walking the streets when you can’t pay the rent. And this from a millionaire making more money than his total lack of talent deserves. Can’t tell you how much I loath this kind of arrogance.
Hi Chips & TOD’s, I’m mostly a lurker but I was wondering if I could get you to sign my WH Petition about the Debt Ceiling just to show we support the President NOT NEGOTIATING until after the Debt Ceiling hike because Fitch & Moody said they will downgrade us again over that. Here’s the info:
DO NOT NEGOTIATE w/GOP OVER DEBT CEILING LIFT; UP OR DOWN VOTE ONLY
Sen Bob Corker has written a Bill that shreds Social Security & Medicare & Medicaid similar to the Ryan Budget. He plans to extract this concession by refusing to lift Debt Ceiling until Bill is passed. http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/senate/272623-corker-introduces-bill-trading-entitlement-cuts-for-debt-ceiling-hike Fitch & Moody Credit Rating Agencies Say they will downgrade our Credit Rating if another Debt Ceiling fight occurs, per CnnMoney. It would also halt the Recovery if the Cliff Negotiations have not already done so. Tell Sen Corker & Fix the Debt & the GOP, NO Negotiating. The Debt Ceiling should be lifted by Vote as it always was until President Obama was elected. The Tea Party Cuts Are Killing the Economy.
Concussions are DANGEROUS…..and a blodclot after a concussion is doubly dangerous. When will those RW hacks and infotainers grow up and admit that genuine illness happens to people, and NOT EVERYONE lies and plays events for political purposes!!!
Concussions are now taken much more seriously by the medical profession than they used to be, which is definitely a good thing. Recovery is slow, and sometimes not complete.
Her schedule the last four years has been punishing, and she is 65 years old, not a spring chicken any more. That flu bug she had was probably a lot more serious than a regular flu. Think of where she has been, what she has eaten, the sleep she has gone without, the emotional stress on her mind and body……
These are all the sorts of things that make people deal with their own mortality, especially at age 65. I truly hope that the doctors succeed in their treatments–glad she’s getting care.
Carolyn, your last paragraph is why I believed SOS when she had said earlier she wasn’t signing up for a second term. I do believe our bodies tell us when we’ve been pushing hard and need to slow down, but most of us don’t listen soon enough. I know the concussion was as a result of a fall, but still…… I wish Mrs. C a speedy recovery and like others here I lit a candle and join in the global prayer that she will be fine, soon.
The Gregory’s of the world need to get over the fact that this president doesn’t host parties for them and worship them. Bush never did because he didn’t drink. Never heard one news caster smear him.
Why do you say he didn’t drink? I don’t think that is true. He had a problem with alcohol in his younger years, and I for one thinks that continued to some degree.
Then they’d wail on about how he’s blowing taxpayer money to party. The man could sneeze and they’d swear he’s trying to spread a plague pandemic to destroy the country. He’s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t, so he may as well just focus on doing his job rather than schmoozing with people who don’t want him to succeed anyway.
House GOP eyes smaller Sandy bill
Russell Berman – 12/30/12 08:56 PM ET
GOP officials say House Republicans are considering a $27 billion package, much less than the $60 billion Senate bill.…
–
It figures!
Take a gander at what CNBC’s John Harwood had to say in response to someone expressing loss of confidence in mainstream journalism. Any wonder why journalism sucks these days when the pros have this attitude about the people they serve?
Get treatment @SwingTrader2012: @
Don't underestimate how little media is believed these days. We feel like Russians reading Pravda. #tcot”
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Senate on Sunday approved prominent antitrust attorney William Baer to head the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division 10 months after he was tapped by President Barack Obama.
The Senate voted 64-26 to approve Baer’s nomination, which ran into problems with some Republicans because of secret information in an FBI background report.
Baer, an antitrust and white collar criminal defense attorney with the law firm Arnold & Porter LLP, has worked in the past for the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
“Bill is a highly-skilled and well-respected antitrust lawyer who understands the importance of promoting competition in order for consumers to reap the benefits of lower prices and better quality products and services,” Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement welcoming the Senate vote.
The Justice Department’s Antitrust Division, along with the FTC, reviews mergers to ensure they comply with antitrust law and prosecutes price-fixing and other antitrust violations.
That’s pretty rich coming from Joe Manchin and tweeted by of all people, Kelly O’Donnell who has been one of the most prominent GOP shills in the media…
You know, I thought I’d suffer Twitter withdrawals with my vow to stay off of it during my staycation, but it’s been quite nice being off the grid. I needed the rejuvenation. Expect me back full force on Wednesday.
basically, o’connell and reid came to an impasse, and o’connell begged to be allowed to negotiate with biden instead. nothing came of it, as far as we know.
hanging out with your daughter was the very best way to spend the day!
aloha oe~
From what I’m reading – the GOP is going to say “Biden saved the day” – I believe they are, or have been, talking. NEVER will the media credit the President.
right, like the white house is the problem. 🙂 but it may be the tetchy rethug pride won’t allow reid to take any credit. whatever. they are idiots, and there’s no hiding.
This is more GOP “misinformation”……I don’t believe anything that comes out now unless it is from the President himself. These people are all scrambling to get air and print time. They don’t know anything! Do they not realize that Biden isn’t going to do anything the President hasn’t already approved????? We’ll know what happens when either Harry Reid or the President calls a presser.
Thanks for the information. No matter what happens you know Joe Biden has the president’s back all the way. Yes, hanging out with my daughter was a terrific way to spend my day! She’s been home a week and I’ve loved every minute. I am so blessed to have good relationships with both my 27 year old daughter and 26 year old son.
Hello, testing. I had trouble posting. Is it because there are so many posts? The round table is awful. They act like they’re at a cocktail party. Gregory is insecure. Goodnight.
I cannot believe the Hillary needs a doctor’s certificate! Sounds rather like someone needs a birth certificate! So now the media doubts the word of anyone who works with President Obama!
What is the GOP using to blackmail the media? or are they just against the black guy too?
Imagine that. Republicans were, in effect, arguing, “We’ll raise middle class taxes unless Democrats accept Social Security cuts.” It would seem “not a winning hand” is an understatement.
But while the GOP’s shift in posture helped keep the talks from collapsing entirely, the remaining areas of disagreement — estate taxes, the sequester, extending jobless benefits, a debt-ceiling extension — have not been, and may ultimately not be, resolved.
With this in mind, the stage has been set for an interesting Senate showdown tomorrow.
Tomorrow Harry Reid and PBO are going to put the hammer to the Rs. Pass the tax cut for the middle class and extend unemployment benefits or face the American people and explain why you’ve raised their taxes.
Me thinks it’s the latter. Rational thinking is gone, it’s all hatred and disjointed thoughts.
They are incapable of anything but saying that the President is the enemy.
It’s just awful! But, they are making a big mistake.
In a series – years and years – of big mistakes. I don’t know when I’ve heard of anything as pathetic, politically, and I’ve been following politics since I was in high school in the 1960s.
In a tremendous irony, Republican requests for lower tax rates, a high estate tax threshold, and a permanent AMT fix; combined with Democratic requests to delay the sequester, include a “doc fix” for Medicare physicians, and extend emergency unemployment benefits; have left the parties negotiating toward a plan that would result in no net deficit reduction over 10 years, according to Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin.
just more evidence that they are supreme liars. they have no interest in what they say they want–it’s just cover for their insidious power grabbing. that’s why it’s impossible to negotiate with them in good faith. nothing on the table matters to them; they just want to stomp on the president.
So they are being called out on twitter – they should have been called out in the media when the lies began – oh gosh – it was the media saying Hilary faked her illness – any wonder the President is sick of hearing “both sides do it”
Great April video, my fave so far. Music gives a slight edge. What’s not to love about Bob Marley? They have all been a fun and funny review of PBO and Michelle. When I watch them, feels like anything is possible from this amazing man.
it’s just absurd–the same people who were swallowing robmey’s lies and washing them down with big gulps of r-lyin’s lies are very suspicious of hillary clinton’s concussion. if they’re embarrassed and therefore defensive (like this ‘smiling lady’–??!! really??!!?), then they should look to their own behavior and attitudes instead of smearing the secretary of state and former president clinton further.
‘ House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi appears to command more votes in the “fiscal cliff” negotiations than the speaker of the House, Republican John Boehner of Ohio.
That’s because the San Francisco Democrat leads a unified caucus whose votes will be needed to pass any deal to avert more than $600 billion in tax increases and spending cuts come Jan. 1.
Boehner’s Republicans, by contrast, are rebellious and fractured, having abandoned their leader. ‘
‘ As a Western state where rural traditions are strong, including gun owning and hunting, favoring rights for gun owners has been a popular stance in our state. Many of our elected officials also hunt and shoot guns for recreation. Right now, neither Udall nor Heinrich has backed an assault-weapons ban, one of the laws being discussed as a first step in gaining control over the nation’s gun violence. However, in light of the horrific shootings in Connecticut, it appears the delegation is open to persuasion. Voters must shout louder than the NRA and other gun lobbies for the persuasion to work. ‘
I just wanted to add a little something to the discussion:
I was watching a fauxnews clip online and hannity was referring to POTUS as the anointed one but in a sarcastic way….an laughing at the notion.
I believe that he is touched by God and this fiscal cliff debacle will end well by God’s Grace.
Just remember we have been through this things before. with healthcare and dadt and the gov shut down. These people will not succeed. They have failed and will continue to fail.
Their number one priority was to make
POTUS a one term president –failed
stall all democrat’s agenda and stop the economy from getting better — failed
keep unemployment rate high — failed
said POTUS weak on foreign policy — failed (how many dictators/ mass murderers have been bought to justice in just these 4 years?)
stop DADT from passing –failed
Stop Obamacare from passing — failed
Repeal Obamacare –failed
make Obamacare unconstitutional with the supreme court — failed
Now there are also those wolf in sheep clothing that pretend to support POTUS but really just love to give credit of his accomplishments to “other people”
remember when they were trying to push the narrative that clinton got POTUS reelected? LOL
now they want to do a Biden got the deal done.
Guys don’t worry, the TRUTH is the only thing that will stand the test of time.
beautiful, luna. the truth will indeed stand the test of time.
earlier today, there was some jabber about pbo being compared to lincoln, or to roosevelt, etc. these comparisons never fit because pbo is unique, he’s entirely new. as history unfolds, the question will be which subsequent president can be held up against pbo’s examle. he is hitting the high marks, and future presidents will aspire to his achievements; he has surpassed all those in the past. and he hasn’t even begun his second term! 🙂
I lit a candle for both Hillary Clinton and President Obama. I have faith that we will have a good outcome, but it’s a shame and I pray for those that will be hurt by the republicans refusing to act on time.
yardam, thanks for the music. I love jazz. Did you watch Treme on HBO? They had some great jazz musicians come in and perform on the show.
Nice April video, especially the humor at the end. I confess I am at this point sick to death of the fiscal cliff. The drama has done me in. I lit a candle of thanks for President Obama and his endless patience. I lit one for Hillary Clinton and pray for her full recovery. As far as the negotiations go I trust the President will handle it with skill, he was great today on MTP – I didn’t stick around to listen to the talking heads. If we all have to hold hands, close our eyes and jump off the cliff together I have faith knowing that we have the best guy in charge who has planned for whatever contingency. Tomorrow nothing will stop me looking forward to a brand new year and a brand new term for Barack Obama. Here’s to 2013!
Hello.
Thanks!
Hey UT – we tied with you crossing the line FIRST by a nose 🙂
Congrats ut on #1!
Congrats GGail on 1st place tie!
Hi UT, GG, hopefruit and Chips!! 🙂
TOP 10
Totally off-topic, but glorious none the less: My favorite nerd, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, cutting a rug at his dept’s holiday party, barefoot, dancing to MJ. Nerd friggin’ rule!
Smart men are just sooooooooo sexy…….the nerdy the better.
Hollah!
Whoooo, Lordy soooo true!
I had seen that on HP last week and I thought, had I a teacher like this professor……I would have truly loved science. Thanks for posting it here.
Another barefoot dancer:) Me too!
Wow. A scientist who can get all the way down. LOL
Delicious! Could we persuade Neil to run for POTUS?
If not POTUS, at the very least Energy Secretary 🙂
I’m glad somebody else remembers his awful badmouthing and disrespect of President Obama…
Thanks for confirming that – I was beginning to wonder if I were thinking about the wrong guy. I don’t remember his exact badmouthing as much as didn’t he become a PUMA after that? Oh, well, I’m supposed to be healing those wounds for myself, leaving them behind!
Chips this is fantastic! The bonus at the end cracked me up.
Wow, Chips, what great memories. We’ve had a lot of fun along these times. Much more to come!!
I know one thing this President better be appreciated while we have him.
You can’t help but rock and smile while watching APRIL.
These are so memorable – Thanks Chipsticks!
I see California is representin’. Where’s everybody?
CA is in the TOD House jojo 🙂
I am here, south of L.A., CA!
I’m here! GA representing!
Georgia in da heezy!
so, we still want to watch it, right? 🙂
we ALWAYS want to watch:) So what happened today, work too hard for them?
Abso-friggin-lutely! : -D 😀 😀
Bonus for me: It was filmed on the campus of my alma mater, Univ of NC-Chapel Hill aka Blue Heaven!
hey, Dudette, we share that alma mater. sweeeet xoxo
Sweet!!! xoxoxo
Wassup, fellow Tarheel!
I enjoyed watching this today, more than the first time. How could one not vote for a President who can slow jam the news? 🙂
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhh Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh…
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE……..this!!!
Prezi-Barackness-monster gonna kick some teabaggin-saggin ass.
OMGGGGGGGGGGGG>>>>>>
i forgot that PBO dropped the mic at the end,,,,loveeeeeeeed that
He’s the POTUS with the mostest! 🙂
Oh yeah!!!!!
The Preezy of the United Steezy TOO wants to slow -jam the news. Looooooove this!!!!
Live-tweeting MTP went fairly well for a bunch of old amateurs. Wow – David Gregory asks rude questions! Loved how our Pres did not let him get under his skin at all. #middleclassovermillionaires #dontdroptheball
April, my BIRTHDAY month. April….the beginning of Early spring, stems on trees…..Love it.
Thank you chips.
PBO is about to show GOP >> “BIG Payback” James Brown style:-) I can’t wait LOL!!
LOL! Good one!!
Favorite line: I may not know karate, but I know ca-ray-zee! 🙂
LOL!!
He sure is, Kasai!!!
As noted at the bottom of the previous thread ….
…. never, ever provide your opponent with a highly predictive model of your behavior – never ….
#TrustBarack
You’re spot on Bob:-) It reminds me of this quote>>
Those who have knowledge, don’t predict. Those who predict, don’t have knowledge. ~ Lao Tzu
love it!
How cool is that 🙂 Thanks for sharing Bob.
That’s cool. 😉
“I just can’t imagine what life would be without music, dance and laughter.”
So very true, nath!!!
Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!
Chips! April is the best one so far!! Love the end bit 😀
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I’m gloating because I damn well can.
hahahahaha….karma is something elseeeeeeeee!!!!!
with viewers tuning out the Fox News Channel talk-show host in droves.
_________________________________________________
i hope this is good newsss…
Hannity….can you spell “delusional”? 😀
You made me thirsty majiir 🙂
If the Republicans don’t mess with the middle income tax cuts, can we give a little on the tax hike for the wealthy? Can this be a possible solution?
Betty–
President Obama offered to raise it to $400,000. Boehner proposed to raise it to one million, but he couldn’t get his House Republicans to vote for it. Doesn’t seem to matter to them what the offer is. They will say “no” no matter what.
That’s right Mr. President! Relax and settle yourself while the GOP and their MSM friends fuss and cuss into the New Year.
I am soooo glad that VP Biden didn’t jump when McConnell called for his assistance! Joey isn’t have any of the republicans’ divide and conquer strategy. I love that PBO chose Senator Biden for his VP. They’re like two peas in a pod.
For some reason, I can’t type a decent sentence today. Meant isn’t having any.
Butter fingers 🙄 Hellooooooo majiir 🙂
I can’t believe McConnell did this – presumably he thought the “white dude” would understand that they must join together against those who look different. This is like kids at school attempting to bully the intelligent one – and getting his friends on “their side”. McConnell needs to be called out on this by every person in the country – the racism of the GOP has been well on show today.
I don’t think it has to do with race. I don’t think McConnell likes the president period. The president has not assigned this task to Joe so I believe this is an exercise in futility on McConnell’s side. PBO is the boss. Even Joe will tell you that.
yanno…i thought that he was trying to cimcumvent Harry Reid….but he was trtying to cirmcumvent PBO too
Ha!
POTUS said “CHILL” I got this 😆
🙂 Yes he does!!! Hiya GGail 😉
Hiya Chipsticks!
HelllLLLLllllllLLLLLllllllLLLLLllllLLLLLlllllLLLLlooooOOOOoooooOOOOOooooOOOOooooo GGail!
Chipsticks – you are jammin’ on the Monthly Image video’s!!!!!
But GGail, feeling aggrieved, the original was sweet, nice tune, with PBO slow-jamming – I hate YouTube. 😥 But thanks!!! 🙂
OH forgoodness sake Chipsticks! That sounds like you gripping about one of your birthday cakes that you make for us that look lovely, then you complain about the mess and the missing ingredients – well, we can’t tell it isn’t a masterpiece 🙂
My birthday cakes, unlike those videos, are never anything less than perfect, everyone of them a masterpiece 😎
😆
LOL!!!!! so true 🙂
Especially the one with the fish heads – that one was like a Picasso… 😯
‘…well, we can’t tell it [birthday cake] isn’t a masterpiece.’
Wh-a-a-t! Please, GGail! Let’s not go too far to the other side to reassure Chips that April is fantabulous! The ‘April image or two’ is indeed FANTABULOUS, but the cake analogy just doesn’t work for me. I’ll say no more on THAT head. Chips, dear, the April collage AND music are vunderbar and NBC can eat their sour grapes.
Hello vc!
I knew my statement would get a rise out of you….or your twin…….LOL!!!!!!
Mission accomplished, eh? {{GGail}} A very east coast ‘good evening’ to you Miss G! I suppose you are winding down now so that you can get some rest before heading back to work tomorrow? Well, sweet dreams when you do settle in.
Time for us to pay attention!
LOL!! Chips…He looks like he’s watching a football game:-)
Well, he is Kasai, kinda! 🙂
LOVE IT!!!! LOVE HIM!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀
Great video Chips, I enjoyed that.
I’m enjoying Chips’ inspirational monthly ‘minder videos of how blessed we are to have this man as our President. Not a day goes by when someone on Twitter doesn’t express just how they love PBO. Just a few examples of “I LOVE MY PRESIDENT” from yesterday and today:
ah Nice HF! Very positive! RT-ing all of them!!
What a good idea noting and sharing these, Hopef! Thanks. It’s feels good to be reminded that many people ‘out there’ love the President .
IF OBAMA IS FOR IT, WE HAD TO BE AGAINST IT
Gregory: “What is it about you, Mr.
————————————-
http://immasmartypants.blogspot.com/2012/12/gregory-what-is-it-about-you-mr.html
excellent LH RT’d
thank you smartypants!
Maybe ask him with 2 more weeks to go in his second term. Then, he can say, it’s my Color, David.
And that is apparent!
David Gregory knows why republicans refuse to negotiate/compromise with PBO. It’s the same reason he asked the stupid question!
Smartypants is, as far as I am concerned, one of the smartest and most genuine political analyst blogger. I really learn so much from her, Deaniac, Norbrook, POU posters, and of course chips and all the smart people who post on TOD.
They really all are obsessed with President Obama like high school kids with massive crushes that manifest in extreme meanness…
I wish he would get out and go somewhere so people could deluge him with love.
UTAustin, congrats on #1. Seems like I’ve seen you in that position many times recently. Well-deserved kudos.
FYI, @BuzzFeedAndrew is conservative, but he’s young and educated, so he’s not a RWNJ bigoted against people who aren’t exactly like him.
“But despite having internships for two House members and the Republican National Committee on his resume, Mr. Kazcynski decided to go take the non-partisan route in journalism.”
http://observer.com/2011/12/buzzfeed-hires-andrew-kaczynski-oppenheimer-of-political-videos/
“Kaczynski describes himself as a moderate Republican.”
http://nymag.com/news/intelligencer/andrew-kaczynski-2011-12/
I guess he’s conservative in the same way as Andrew Sullivan is, who linked to this article yesterday, which explains why the GOP refuses to make a deal:
“For Republicans, losing the political fight isn’t a downside of the strategy. It is the strategy.”
http://andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2012/12/why-wont-republicans-make-a-deal.html
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-12-28/when-getting-your-butt-kicked-is-the-strategy.html
thanks for the links, arapaho. seems the last refuge of moderate republicans is left leaning news sites.
Slightly off-topic but did you see David Gregory dancing on the Today Show last week? He actually did pretty well but this doesnt mean that I approve of his interviewing skills.
David the Dancing Dolt.
You should youtube David Gregory and Mary J. Blige on the Today Show. He was getting down!!!! He is a great dancer!
I’m happy to hear he is skilled at something because he’s certainly NOT skilled when it comes to practicing good journalism. Just about anyone could do his job–acting as a mouthpiece for the GOP. All it takes is the ability to memorize their talking points.
Spot on…
I have very little patience for a gushfest over David Gregory’s dancing ability or any other thing for that matter…
‘…Admit it people, call these people for who and what they are…’
Thank you…
WHAT A MAN!!!!!!!
What a mighty good man!
😀
Now you KNOW I wasn’t gonna just let that one go! 😀
Actually Dudette, you clearly read my mind – because that’s exactly the song I had in mind and was about to go on Youtube and retrieve the video but got distracted! 🙂 🙂
That’s exactly what came into my mind and you guys took off and ran with it! I LOVE MY TOD FAMILY!!!!!
😀 😀 😉
Dudette is always on time with her song selections!
hahahahahahah…
Nahhhhh we knew better…. 😀
i loved this moment. if anyone ever doubts who he is, our president is right here. a very fine man.
Just lovely, Chips!!!
More video genius Chips! Really, just wonderful!
I really hope that Key and Peele puts together a skit about D.Gregory asking POTUS the “why is that” question. They will be able to REALLY translate what President Obama was thinking… LOL!!!!
pls send them a heads-up (in case they were not watching)
they’re pretty clever – if they didn’t see it, then someone in their camp did and will bring it to their attention. It’s tooooooo delicious to pass up. I would love to hear their interpretation.
LOL! Dear Mary J Blige can you please take David Gregory on tour (overseas) with you> as a back up dancer ~ Thank you:-) K
what a hoot! i’d never seen that–he’s just rockin’ over there!
That IS hilarious!! At least he’s on the beat! LOL!
Hahahaha! Look at him wigglin’ it! ROFL!!!
Love me some Mary, hard not to get up a boogie when she’s going!! 🙂
Oh My! I can’t stand him but at least he’s on beat.
Is that David Gregory dancing over there? If it is, I can’t believe I’m about to say this but he wasn’t doing that bad for a goofy white Republican.
LOL! I think he should change profession:-)
David Gregory’s kids attend the same school as Sasha and Malia. That’s why he was quarter decent during that interview. Otherwise he would’ve been plain nasty. He was rude enough already as it is.
wow–that’s an interesting piece of info!
That’s probably why he thinks he’s President Obama’s equal…
I despise David Gregory and all he stands for…
Go ahead and make it real, Chi!
Hello everyone – markets are down in my world today (31st) but not as much as expected – it seems most think the President has this one – the GOP surely know everyone (except a few media fools) are against them – but will take every minute they have to admit it.
Thank you for the great reporting and twittering
It seems that PBO might make a statement tonight – based on some tweets I’ve read and posted above. He might do this to calm the markets.
Hay Ashley Judd are you still considering running for the Senate. Your country needs you.
“young jeezy leads with a left”……
😀
Let’s hope for speedy and complete recovery.
Get well soon SOS Clinton.
Ooooh – that is not good – depending on location of clot – blessings and wishes for her. And the GOP didn’t believe she was ill!
yikes–this is not good.
prayers and aloha to you hillary!
Dotster, I’ll bet some of those worms are even gleeful. They like when bad things happen to Democrats, especially powerful ones
like Hilary.
Prayers to SOS Hillary Clinton. Get well soon!
oh dear. hope she will be OK
SOS Clinton has been on my mind all day. I was looking back over the photos from Burma, just wondering how she is doing, and this news. I will light a candle for her. And always for my President.
Link to candles below.
hoping for a quick recovery for SOS Hillary Clinton.
Thank you Secretary Clinton for your life time of public service to the nation and the world!
For your reading pleasure.
http://www.thepeoplesview.net/2012/12/mtps-lazy-pundits-explain-fiscal-cliff.html
Oh shit!!
Ah no, I had a seriously bad feeling about these recent reports.
Survivors of brain surgery are never quite the same afterwards.
Yes, I know – all too well. But, you are here with us and that matters, most. And, while far from perfect, all my colleagues are constantly striving to improve outcome, especially by detecting events much, much sooner.
Wow Yardarm! What a harrowing experience that must have been for you! I’m so glad you recovered! To think you might not have been with us. Kinda makes one think it wasn’t just Chips that brought our little family together. Maybe fate a hand in it too. {{{Yardarm}}}
May she rest in perfect peace Nath…
The loss of a child especially one so young, is simply unimaginable…
May God continue to comfort and bless your family…
Sorry for your loss. There are no words. Believe me when I say that I count my blessings every day. I can’t move around like I use to but I wouldn’t have been able to interact with you good folks otherwise.
Stay strong. GOD will.
Been a lurking, but just had to respond to your comments Nath. So sorry about your daughter. It kinda explain about your bewilderment about your other loved one recently. Tumors, strokes, etc. wreak havoc on our brains.
And Yard, my friend you are special. Every thing happens for a reason known or unknown. We are survivors.
Happy New Year TODers. Much love to each of you.
Happy New Year to everyone!
Moreover, the GOP accused her of faking it, and trying to get out of testifying.
Oh God .. praying now, please let her be okay!
Prayers being sent up for her complete recovery.
Sending good thoughts to her.
Hope SOS will be okay.
I should have said, hope SOS Hillary Clinton will be okay.
Barney Frank on MSNBC now…
Sending good thoughts of full recovery for Sec. Clinton. She will get the best care, for that we can be grateful.
Ooooh..just catching up. Nice ‘APRIL’ video chips. Bob Marley great musical choice.
Thanks Bobfr – well said
no kidding bob, but, will they feel like the losers they are? nope
Thanks Bobfr for this tweet! I am so sick of hateful people who tried to politicize Sec. Clinton’s injury. It’s really a very sad day in our country when everything is viewed through the prism of political ideology.
For you love sick Obots:
Babs!!! Yardarm, you rock!
I try.
That woman is a GODDESS!! Love, love, love her!!!
Who you tellin’?
Love her. Thanks so much, yardarm:)
AWesome!
Go on, Yardarm! Your music selections really capture the true essence of Obama supporters. I love Barbara Streisand. If I am not mistaken, I think she is an Obot.
Yes she is. Big time!
Just saw the news on Sec. Clinton. We hold her in our prayers for a swift and complete recovery.
So a reporter on MSNBC says Joe Biden is talking with McConnell – what ????
What is VP Biden going to do? The boss is still President Obama.
Not to be gross, but McConnell better be expecting Uncle Joe to be bringing a horse’s head.
Gross is good, LL.
I just don’t understand this utter and complete lack of kindness and compassion for anyone whatsoever. It’s rampant and ugly.
I understand it — it’s called evil.
Yep.
Have to agree with you, Dudette, and it’s been around in one form or another for a very long time. Most of time civilized people don’t express their most evil thoughts in public. Republicans don’t have those restraints. Because they don’t like our president they feel free to be as ugly as it’s possible to be.
I agree Meta. I discuss this often with my sister. Republicans talk moral values but they sure do not live them.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for that dotster. I fully expect them to skirt the incident or ignore it or come with a snide comment.
If one of them offers an apology, it will be the standard non-apology–“If I offended anyone, blah, blah, blah. I never expect a genuine apology from these folks because, in their minds, they’re always right, and they think apologizing for anything is a sign of weakness.
yes!
Can you believe someone on twitter tweet that she should have released a doctor’s statement to remove suspicion? Ugh, these people really disgust me!
Hillary Clinton got admitted to the hospital because of a blood clot. You know from the injury the republicans claimed Hillary was faking.
I hope she’s okay.
Boy I’m slow… Got off work at 2 took a nap and didn’t realize that this is something people already were talking about here.
From the Bloomberg article that Arapaho referenced above, this stuck out like a klaxon:
So, yes, please national GOP, be like the CA GOP. It now only holds 1/3 of the seats in the CA legislature, so it is basically irrelevant. But if you just want to grift to suck off the public teat, then it’s a great strategy for those who can get the work.
Does this mean that the GOP have begun the process of devolving into beautiful losers? Oh we can only hope.
http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=PBO
Lit one for PBO. Need one for Hillary too.
I lit one, put HRC in the comment section for her. And I have tea lights on here at home.
Lovely! Thank you Pamela!
I’ve learned if you click on a candle, you can open and read the inscription. I didn’t really get that earlier on. It’s nice.
Pretty neat!
Thank you Pamela, I lit one and will light a candle here at home for her too. I am so concerned about her. Please everyone, pray, or send healing thoughts her way. We need her.
Lit a candle and said a prayer for Secretary Clinton. Lit one for the President too.
Thanks Pamela. I just lit one.
Lit a candle for Secretary Clinton. Also lit one for the President.
SOS Clinton, I hope you have a speedy and full recovery. Please take Care.
I was going to come here and gloat a little about my Denver Broncos. I don’t feel like gloating now, with news of SOS. That it harder than Dumerville and Miller.
“Hit” sorry.
I love the video’s Chips!!!! Keep them coming!
That’s great for your young friend. The Bronkos know how to get you on board. My oldest son is working in Denver and wife in Boulder. We were just ther about a month ago. They live in Lafeyette, but it seems all a part of a denver when you pass Boulder to us.
See if I can spell Bronco’s right. 😉
I never watch that show anymore. Every time I see that idiot I want to kick him in the balls.
Now I know why. The round table is all throw-up worthy.
Well, don’t the seniors are the ones watching his stupid show and then go vote en bloc for the thugs? They need tough talk alright. About their stupidity.
um, that would be some seniors, pal.
A lot of republican voters tend to be seniors, pal.
Watch your mouth youngster.
Oh, come on, ya. Most of the repub base is the clueless, racist seniors. No getting away from that.
Here’s the info:
http://wh.gov/Ui6m
Here’s some more information about this petition:

Yes, Carolyn, your concerns are totally valid.
I agree carolyn. SOS Clinton’s condition is very worrisome and not at all a matter for silly RW political games.
Yup. shrub doesn’t drink is a lie.Just see his stupid blotted face in the Greece Olympics.
I have seen the same pic … I concur.
I believed him I guess. He made running, then biking, his obsession.
Your right there. I just watched the interview with Gregory then the commentators. They are madning. Make me want to shut them off
House GOP eyes smaller Sandy bill
Russell Berman – 12/30/12 08:56 PM ET
GOP officials say House Republicans are considering a $27 billion package, much less than the $60 billion Senate bill.…
–
It figures!
Take a gander at what CNBC’s John Harwood had to say in response to someone expressing loss of confidence in mainstream journalism. Any wonder why journalism sucks these days when the pros have this attitude about the people they serve?
What an A$$hole!!!
Just like with the last Debt Ceiling deadline, the Repugs have to take matters to the very last hour. Oh! the unnecessary drama!!!!!

It’s time for me to say “Good night”
G’Night, GG. Sweet dreams.
Even Manchin gets it ….
Happy New Year to you and your wife and family, LL.
Yes 🙂 Happy New Year to all!
Same to you, Bob.
Enjoy the rest of your staycation LL. Any leftover pesto? 🙂
😆 we finished it off tonight.
Ah…I see. Save some for me next time! 🙂
well nitey nite folks. gotta go to work tomorrow. Hope y’all are going to have a happy New Year’s Eve!
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Rest well, Alice and thank you!!!
Can someone enlighten me about the Biden/O’Connell thing? I have been hanging out with my daughter all day before she leaves.
basically, o’connell and reid came to an impasse, and o’connell begged to be allowed to negotiate with biden instead. nothing came of it, as far as we know.
hanging out with your daughter was the very best way to spend the day!
aloha oe~
From what I’m reading – the GOP is going to say “Biden saved the day” – I believe they are, or have been, talking. NEVER will the media credit the President.
Tweet from a GOP reporter
John Harwood @JohnJHarwood
GOP Senate aide expresses optimism about Biden-McConnell deal-closing talks tonight: “If the White House lets ’em, we’ll get there.”
right, like the white house is the problem.
I agree carolyn. I will wait to hear DIRECTLY either from Senator Reid or PBO.
Yep.
THIS ISN’T A NORMAL NEGOTIATION
By Greg Sargent – (December 30, 2012 at 3:57 pm)

Hello, testing. I had trouble posting. Is it because there are so many posts? The round table is awful. They act like they’re at a cocktail party. Gregory is insecure. Goodnight.
I cannot believe the Hillary needs a doctor’s certificate! Sounds rather like someone needs a birth certificate! So now the media doubts the word of anyone who works with President Obama!
What is the GOP using to blackmail the media? or are they just against the black guy too?
THIS IS NO WAY RUN A DEMOCRACY
Senate showdown set for Monday
By Steve Benen
———————–
Imagine that. Republicans were, in effect, arguing, “We’ll raise middle class taxes unless Democrats accept Social Security cuts.” It would seem “not a winning hand” is an understatement.
But while the GOP’s shift in posture helped keep the talks from collapsing entirely, the remaining areas of disagreement — estate taxes, the sequester, extending jobless benefits, a debt-ceiling extension — have not been, and may ultimately not be, resolved.
With this in mind, the stage has been set for an interesting Senate showdown tomorrow.
——————————–
http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2012/12/30/16255447-senate-showdown-set-for-monday
WTF??
just more evidence that they are supreme liars. they have no interest in what they say they want–it’s just cover for their insidious power grabbing. that’s why it’s impossible to negotiate with them in good faith. nothing on the table matters to them; they just want to stomp on the president.
Well said susanne – the gop wants to bring the country down – and still don’t understand that the people voted for PBO.
Good!
Hillary illness doubters face wrath of Twitter

“Did She Fake It?”: LA Times Mainstreams Clinton Concussion Conspiracy
http://mediamatters.org/blog/2012/12/20/did-she-fake-it-la-times-mainstreams-clinton-co/191928
I don’t trust any Republicans, specially Mitch McConnell.
second.
it’s just absurd–the same people who were swallowing robmey’s lies and washing them down with big gulps of r-lyin’s lies are very suspicious of hillary clinton’s concussion. if they’re embarrassed and therefore defensive (like this ‘smiling lady’–??!! really??!!?), then they should look to their own behavior and attitudes instead of smearing the secretary of state and former president clinton further.
Is she serious? Please tell me this is snark. This tweet from an Obama supporter is very disappointing.
That’s for smilinglady.
whew–if she’s snarking, she should put a smiley on there or something.
I know. Just smh. Can’t believe it’s coming from an Obama supporter. Like you, I hope she’s kidding.
Day of Seesaw Talks Produces No Accord on Fiscal Crisis
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/31/us/politics/obama-accuses-republicans-of-blocking-tax-deal.html?pagewanted=all&_r=1&

On another current topic…… Robert Griffin proves the Washington Redskins are for real!
from the santa fe new mexican op ed:

Excellent observations, I am sure this will play out like so many of those situations did…in a GOP EPIC FAIL.
Absolutely spot on Luna…
Well said Luna, Brava!
Something for you nite owls. Peace see ya on the flip-side.
aloha yardarm~ sleep peacefully. i’ll be dancing around here to these great tunes!
Enjoy.
Arm and arm with you, friend!
Yes We Can
We can.
We will.
And we did! 🙂
Good night Bob.
here they are. let’s watch for the abject, sincere apologies, and the oh-so serious concern:
http://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/people-who-thought-hillary-clinton-was-faking-her
Good night friends ….
#TrustBarack
maybe you’ve all seen these, but i still get a laugh. we’re rooting for you hill!!
Where are the Democrats this morning? The Republicans are all on tv blaming Democrats.
Just saying!
