Bunch of dumb “f”‘s republicans and media make me sick. This country is so dysfunctional. I blew up with an co-worker saying “both sides are at fault” NO THE F THEY ARE NOT…YOU KNOW GD WELL THAT THIS IS THE GOP LEAD HOUSE RACIST TEABAGGERS.
“All four congressional leaders have now left the WH without making any statement. Majority Leader Reid looked downtrodden”
Not a tweet about the ‘troddeness’–yes, I made the word up–of Yertle and Boehner (R-Coppertone). It’s ridiculous.
We’ll hear the President’s statement and it will be interesting to see if all the breathless reporters and Chicken Littles who claim to know what happened will come back and say ‘Breaking: we got it all wrong. Again.’
Yes, I couldn’t help but notice that the GOP, their “aides” and MSM stenographers were frantically trying to push their wishful thinking narrative ahead of PBO’s statement. That led me to believe that the meeting had not gone in the GOP’s favor as they were trying to present and PBO’s statement was going to be proof that he had Boehner backed into a corner.
He’s pissed, and he should be. And the media folk on MSNBC and elsewhere spreading rumors should be called out as well – they are part of the problem – a HUGE part of it.
Okay, I’m going to repost a simple question here because I’ve just about had it with the constant hysteria from my Twitter TL day-in, day-out, damn near every week since PBO’s re-election:
//Again I ask with extreme frustration: Why are folks inclined to believe trashy rumors about PBO’s fiscal cliff negotiations from agenda-driven media? Haven’t we seen this movie before? My friends if you are reading this comment, would you care to mount an honest response as to why you are inclined to believe certain media personalities (who represent the 1%) and not trust the President? Why does he ALWAYS have to prove you (and the media) wrong? Why not the other way around? Shouldn’t it be the media report guilty until proven innocent and PBO innocent until proven guilty – based on what we’ve known about the two parties? Please advise.//
It’s a strategy from GOP, it weakens the Democrats if they can divide us. Hence, all the disinformation!
And the Left, always falls for it. Frankly, the left should never make fun of the right for being uneducated, because the Right plays the left all the time.
Just saying!
You are not alone, hopefruit2! Like you, I don’t know why people are quick to embrace rumors by media personalities instead of waiting to hear from the President.
“It appears that if Republicans thought Pres. Obama would give in as he has in the past, they have miscalculated this time around.”
REPUBLICANS?!?!?!?
As recently as about an hour ago, the likes of MSNBC and HuffnPuff’s Sam Stein, etc were pushing the same GOP nasty rumors, with certain Obama supporters on Twitter, Old Orange and elsewhere swallowing their toxic dump lock, stock and barrel.
This is why I have tuned out of the social media the last 10 days. I stopped when this crap started with the “he’s gonna cave” mess that was being reinforced by “supporters”. I have had enough!
I worked to hard to get this man re-elected. He is not my child he is my President and I give him the respect he deserves to serve the interest of this Nation. I will NOT micromanage his Presidency.
“I worked to hard to get this man re-elected. He is not my child he is my President and I give him the respect he deserves to serve the interest of this Nation. I will NOT micromanage his Presidency.”
Thank you Donna den 4 Obama, for this marvelous and righteous statement! Like you, the reason I strongly support President Obama, and voted for him two times, is because I trust and respect him. I did not vote for him to constantly tell him what do. If that’s what I wanted to do, I should have been honest enough to run for President myself. That’s why I am sick of people who claim to be his supporters, but are quick to pile on him based on media rumors.
Try not to confuse Sam Stein for either a credible journalist or a ‘progressive’…
Anyone who shills for Arianna Huffington or acts with deference and excitement sitting with Newt Gingrich, is not a voice of reason or on our side…
Sam Stein when he is on vacation from shilling for the spiteful, bitter, messy Arianna, is nothing more than a spiteful, self-aggrandizing, wannabe relevant and a D.C player – and he just doesn’t care how he gets there…
You are correct about Stein. I am just very disturbed that anyone who supports PBO would give this idiot a shred of credibility – knowing who he works for and his history of pushing snide, anti-Obama narratives.
They are very informative. But for some reason, they blocked me right away when I started tweeting and I wasn’t really even harsh in those early days……..Bugs me because I’d love to RT them.
For some reason, the picture of POTUS at the top of this post – any picture of his back really – just makes my heart clench with tenderness. I don’t know why. I guess there is something vulnerable about it.
I am with you, Donna! They are utterly disgusting. A lot of them should be on GOP payroll as propagandist instead of pretending to be reputable journalists.
maybe the president is enjoying this–we can all see them talking away, with nothing whatever to report. very strong visual of the press’ lack of relevance.
They all looked so self-important. They are legends in their own minds. What a bunch of shallow, useless fools. They made my skin crawl. What a relief it was when PBO came in the room.
As much as I value freedom of the Press, I am strongly of the opinion that the United States would be much better off without most of the current, so called, mainstream media. They are utterly useless because they are not interested in truthfully informing the people. All they are interested in is sensationalism.
Hey there all you O’s!!!! So wassup on this great getting up day evening in TODdytown? Am I missing anything? Just kidding, PBO is speaking to me directly in my TV room. I don’t understand something though. He’s saying if the stuff don’t get er done, he will ask Sen Reid to put the bill on the floor of the House. Is that possible, or did I hear that wrong? Other than that, you go PBO!!!
I think the idea may be that the Senate will at least put up a bill for a vote. Pressure on Boehner to do the same. If B. won’t allow a vote the whole blame is laid at his feet.
He said if Reid and The Turtleface can’t get something done together, Reid should bring a simple up or down vote on the basics to the floor of the Senate to avoid a tax hike on 99% Americans. Basically, he wants Reid to dare Turtleface to filibuster.
Yep, that’s what he’s doing all right. I heard it wrong. I sent an email to Boehner, daring him to bring the Senate bill to the floor for a vote as well.
Well done! I did the same cookemom. I also sent Leaders Reid and McConnell e-mails voicing my support for the President. It’s time for us to mobilize behind our President.
In other words, the President was not in the mood of hearing GOP talking points disguised as legitimate questions. Bravo, Mr. President. Until the media stops behaving as a propaganda arm of the GOP there is no need to treat their questions seriously.
Good; PBO did not take any questions from the jackals.
Well, do you think that a deal will be made that covers the minimum that the president mentioned (unemployment benefits extended and to rise in taxes for those who make less than 250,000)?
Pres. Obama was piiiissed. I like how he shut that fool up. Who the hell talks while the president is making a statement? So basically, Pres. Obama charged Reid and McConnell to come to a fiscal cliff agreement (no elaboration on what the agreement is) and if they don’t, he’ll ask Reid to bring an up/down vote to the floor that includes middle-class tax cuts, unemployment extension, and a plan for deficit reduction.
UTaustinliberal [I’m repeating myself here . . ] wanting to catch your attention, requesting that you
repost the location of David Axelrod’s interview at the Chicago Institute of Politics. Thank you!
I have a feeling “Do Your Jobs” is going to be the theme of PBO’s Inauguration speech and his State of the Union. As he just said to the bozos in Congress, the people of this country don’t understand what’s the matter with you. They do their jobs. Why can’t you. Our president is not fooling around. He told Boehner he would use his two upcoming speeches to lay it on the line to the American people about the dysfunction in Congress and he just showed that he will. Good for him. I truly felt that he wanted to actually kick someone, but was too polite and too much of a statesman to do it. Wish he had.
So I wonder who will be moderating…BriWi Maybe? Gregory is being investingated by the DC Police and it was reported earlier this week that he would not be hosting this Sunday. Hmmmmm……
BOOM! I missed this statement by the President when it happened. He means business, and so should all of us. Write, call, email. So sick of these people not doing their jobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anybody know why the despicable house republicans didn’t get a mention in that speech? pbo talked about the turtle meeting with reid to work out a deal, but isn’t it the house that’s been impossible to pin down? i’d heard boner childishly wanted the senate to make the first move, then he could continue saying no to whatever was proposed. is this more of the same?
My view is this: A ” bipartisan bill” from the senate gives a fig leaf to Boehner to take to his caucus. He has political cover to allow a vote if the senate Rs have voted for it already.”
Boner has stated, even if the senate passes something he will NOT bring it up for a vote unless it has the support of a majority of repugs, doesn’t matter if it might have the support of a majority of the house. He is worthless, worse then worthless.
I’m sick of Boehner invoking the “Hastert Rule” as a reason for not doing his job and as an excuse for his poor leadership skills. Nothing in the Constitution says anything about having to have a majority of one’s political party on board before a vote on a bill takes place.
For the people who made such a spectacle of publicly reading the Constitution on the House floor when they took over the House in 2011, we need to ask them where in the Constitution does it say that no bill could be voted on “unless it has the support of the majority of repugs?” Obviously, this is a question that our failed media should be asking of the House Republican leadership, but especially of Speaker Boehner and Majority leader Cantor.
hmmm…now this is an incentive they can understand.
‘Politicians’ war chests could be the first casualties if Congress and the White House lead the nation over the fiscal cliff come January 1st.
A number of lawmakers, and campaign committees, already have high dollar fundraisers scheduled for the early weeks of January. But if a deal hasn’t materialized and members are stuck in DC, their wallets could end up thousands of dollars lighter. ‘
Chi, I suspect David Gregory is going to be the one who wishes that HE was not hosting….
He is so excited to get his ass handed to his right wing pals. He just might start rappin when PBO finishes with him.
You do remember how Myth got so flabbergasted during the last debate, he co- signed practically everything PBO said.
At the end of the debate, I thought he was going to vote for our President.
I left a comment on the previous post before viewing the video at the top of this one. And basically I said “the media” is the problem. Our President is using this tool to educate and re-educate how slimy and vile they are. He bitched slapped the WH press corp. by not answering any questions tonight and going on MTP. He is just as sick of them as we are here and just watching how insignificant they are when he swaggered out of their evil presence. They can play “gotcha” all they want. I see our President going back to finish his Hawaii vacation whether he stays here or in his ever loving mind. This is going to so painfully sweet to witness PBO “crush them”
I am glad to hear he is going back. I was thinking of him when I first tried to sleep. I was thinking how sad it was that he would be in DC without his family. I wondered what he would do. He wouldn’t go to a week-end holiday party without Michelle, that is something I couldn’t imagine. In case you’re wondering why I’m not sleeping I have come down with the flu bug. Used all my energy typing that. Good Night. Hope it isn’t transferable thought the Internet! 😉
How about we tweet the heck out of David Gregory with suggested questions that frame President Obama as the rightful leader on fiscal fairness, elected in a landslide. and the Republicans as more loyal to Grover Norquist, Karl Rove, and the Kochs than the American people. Hashtag suggestions?? BobFr? Anyone?
The President’s statement was clear, precise, short and to the point. Remains to be seen if Boehner and his likes in the House can follow by delivering a short bill that does exactly what the President has asked.
PBO will be on MTP this Sunday. What an honor bestowed upon the David Gregory!
I’m sure Robert Costa and his fellow right wing nuts are gleefully passing on gotcha questions to their right wing pal David Gregory as we speak…
I’m not pleased with this undeserved get for a very silly David Gregory who has been very much a big part of not just deliberately muddying up the narrative, but destroying our democracy…
I am with you Chi! I don’t think David Gregory deserved this interview. On the other hand, I trust the President knows what he is doing. I am sure he feels that he could effectively deliver his message to the American people via MTP. I am also sure that David Gregory will come equipped for this interview with GOP talking points that will use to question the President. I am confident the President will effectively deal with Gregory and may even expose him as the GOP media surrogate.
Mark Knoller needs to run to the donut shop and get some donuts for his piehole and while he’s there he might as well get some for his other pie hole that’s behind him. He is so full of sheet. Get on my last nerve. I want to be good for the New Year but he brings out the worse in me.
Hey Sara Chumley Carter, you wanted me to repost the fantastic discussion at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics with David Axelrod. If anyone hasn’t seen this interview, you should. Axelrod takes us behind the scenes of Obama 2012, his relationship with Pres. Obama, how Pres. Obama has kept his promises and always fights for those who sent him to D.C. despite the whiners, many who call themselves progressives. He debunks the myth that Pres. Obama gave away the store in his first term and outlines what a second term will look like. It’s just wonderful.
A Troll alert! Saw a couple posts on a regular newspaper opinion page and one of the trolls was twisting the invitation to the Inaugural to say Obama was so desperate to fill the seats, he had to tweet invitations. Be on alert every where you are on the Internet. Wish the retorters would go away. Glad we have refuge here.
Yes, shut them down. PBO did it today, let’s keep doing it just like that.
Okay, now I myself am going to tweet @PressSec and say it a slightly
different way.
Thank you Sara. And a big thank you to Bobfr. I did a Rt, Bobfr. I also wrote to the White House Communication Director and Press Sec., Jay Carney about the rude behavior of this bunch of disrespectful people. When the President of the United States of American has to turn and tell you that you are too loud, and while he is speaking, that is sad.
It reminded me of being in a meeting during my career and staff members would try to show this type of disrespect, and I would just shame them under their seats. Then after the meeting, I would go to them personally and tell them to Never Do That Again in my presence. In short, I did not take that crap from Anyone. These fools are going to see a part of POB that they have Not seen. Trust me. When he has been patient, respectful, listened, then you still disrespect him, he does Not Take that Crap. Trust me on this one.
Second term, come to class prepared and shut the crap up while he is speaking.HZ
DAYUM YARDARM. BRING IT SIR! 🙂 This song performed by Les Mcann and Eddie Harris on their Swiss Movement record is the reason why i love jazz and why the Montreux Jazz Festival is on my bucket list. It’s just as relevant as it was 40+ years ago. Thank you.
Wish I were in on your posts about the song. 😉 I love this, but it sounds like some of you met up 40 years ago! I wasn’t tuned into songs not played on radio station. Standard stuff on channels I could get.
amen! here’s an appropriate question from the press: ‘mr president, what are your thoughts about the fiscal cliff?’. here’s another one: ‘mr president, what are the key issues the american people will be seeing you address in the near future ?’ then just listen and transcribe.
Nicely done Dudette. Thanks for letting DG know we got his number. If he can manage to formulate any questions that don’t have at the root some GOP meme, criticism or talking point I will be shocked.
Yes, thank you Dudette. Okay, I think I’ll tweet @davidgregory next.
I’m taking my first and second tweet steps, ya’ll. very exciting.
You’re great models for this gramma. xoxox in her new incarnation of
active, participating CITIZEN of the USA.
Thank you Sasra. This is how we are going to be able to help to see the fruits of our labor during the elecction cycle of 2012 pay off. Call these people out on their crap toward the president and the people.
Good for PBO for telling it like it is. He was pissed, no doubt and who can blame him. He already has a hard job, he doesn’t need to have to parent grown men too. And as for those talking while he was talking, I hope they feel stupid. I got the strong vibe that he was really, really at the end of his rope with this crap. I posted this article on my FB along with the statement that it is not PBO’s fault and blaming him is useless. I wish there was more we could do to really have his back.
Got on phone after listening to our President, called WA Senators and Senator Reid and said “up or down vote” as the President request if they can’t get something done. You go PBO.
Wow….rocket launcher huh? Because you know, said Los Angeles person might want to blow up a tank someday or a squirrel. WTF is wrong with people? A rocket launcher?!?
Delhi gang-rape victim dies in hospital in Singapore
A female student gang-raped on a bus in India’s capital Delhi has died at a Singapore hospital, doctors say.
“The patient passed away peacefully at 4:45am on 29 Dec 2012,” a statement from the hospital said. The patient’s family had been by her side, it added. The 23-year-old had arrived in Singapore on Thursday after undergoing three operations in a Delhi hospital. The attack earlier this month triggered violent public protests in India that left one police officer dead. Six men have been arrested and two police officers have been suspended following the 16 December attack. “She had suffered from severe organ failure following serious injuries to her body and brain. She was courageous in fighting for her life for so long against the odds but the trauma to her body was too severe for her to overcome,” the statement went on. “We are humbled by the privilege of being tasked to care for her in her final struggle,” Mr Loh said. A team of eight specialists had tried to keep the patient stable, but her condition continued to deteriorate over the two days she was at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, he added. The victim and her friend had been to see a film when they boarded the bus in the Munirka area of Delhi, intending to travel to Dwarka in the south-west of the city.
Police said she was raped for nearly an hour, and both she and her companion were beaten with iron bars and thrown out of the moving bus and into the street. The government has tried to halt rising public anger by announcing a series of measures intended to make Delhi safer for women. These include more police night patrols, checks on bus drivers and their assistants, and the banning of buses with tinted windows or curtains. The government has also said that it will post the photos, names and addresses of convicted rapists on official websites to shame them. It has set up two committees – one looking into speeding up trials of cases involving sexual assaults on women, and the other to examine the lapses that might have led to the incident in Delhi. But the protesters say the government’s pledge to seek life sentences for the attackers is not enough – many are calling for the death penalty. Since the Delhi incident, several cases have been highlighted of authorities failing to respond to reported rapes. On Wednesday, a woman committed suicide in the state of Punjab, after having tried to report to police an rape which allegedly took place last month, local media reports said. At least one police officer involved in the case has been sacked, according to local officials.
Seriously! So the boys aren’t responsible for their actions. Just the sight of a girl nearby is so overwhelming they should be allowed to rape them? WTF? And this comes from the mouth of a woman! Disgusting!!
WTF? Her responsibility as a parent was to teach her son to respect women. It wasn’t the victim’s fault that he didn’t restrain himself from attacking and raping her, along with the other men. I hope the Indian government does use the death penalty in this case because no woman, anywhere in the world, should have to worry about being raped and/or attacked while minding her own business.
I made a comment about these despicable men/boys who commit these heinous crimes against women. I wondered how could any man brought in this world by a mother do something like this to a woman? It seems I was terribly mistaken because some of the mothers of these monsters are ready to justify their evil actions.
Absolutely horrific! Governments all over the world must do everything in their power to prevent these despicable violent acts against women. I’ve always wondered about the mentality of men who carry out these heinous violent acts against women? Don’t they have mothers?
Just watched the President’s comments on the fiscal cliff. While I was waiting for c-span to show it, I listened to callers comments. Where have people been? One idiot said this President only knows how to spend, that he has spent more than all presidents combined. He also complained of “entitlements.” He also complained about those on unemployment. Every word was a talking point. I was jumping up and down hoping for a dial in number. This stuff just makes me crazy. The president certainly has the patience to deal with it — I certainly do not.
Hi Jackie, Those are almost certainly troll callers – may even been paid. Best to not listen to that stuff – it’s no different than the trolls on Twitter and the comments sections of many blogs. Most Americans are well aware of the horror of the GOP.
Happy New Year!
Jackie be forewarned: As Bob indicated, many, if not most of these so-called callers are plants. GOP plants – well paid trolls. So take their “comments” with the appropriate amount of salt.
Paid trolls who call in? I don’t think I ever considered that possibility! If #GOP put only a fraction of their negative political energy to work in a positive way for the country, the US’s ‘exceptionalism’ would really be the thing the world couldn’t miss.
That;s exactly right. They are plants. It’s all PSYOPS. Best way to beat it = call your senator and rep and tell them to comply with their oath of office and do their job. Talk to family and friends and make sure they know the fiscal cliff facts. Fight the hate and fear with information.
I just tweeted him to study up on the fiscal cliff info before Sunday, and that I would be looking for examples of real knowledge from him, Mary1. I also mentioned that he needs to jettison the talking points, that we’d be watching, and reminded him that his interview is with PBO, not the GOP. We have given him notice of what we expect, and if he tries to make PBO look bad by pushing GOP talking points, he’ll hear from us.
UNFORTUNATELY…THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HIRED CONGRESS…THEY NEED TO FIRE CONGRESS…WE’VE PUT UP WITH THSE HOSTAGE SITUATIONS FOR MUCH TOO LONG…THESE PEOPLE ARE IRRESPONSIBLE,IGNORANT,ARROGANT AND SO FILLED WITH GREED THAT THEY DON’T CARE WHO THEY RISK IN THE PROCESS. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A DEMOCRACY…ACT LIKE IT…CLEAN HOUSE!
They run for Congress … get elected … they have very few workdays apparently, they have BlueCross/Blue Shield Federal Employees Program life insurance (for LIFE) (I deal with this insurance every day; it is pretty cushy), they have a salary … why should they care about the peons who elected them?
So, I see that Obama caved. Caved caved caved. Oh, what, wait, he didn’t? You mean the pre-written screeds on DKos and FDL have to be jettisoned? Color me (not) shocked.
(I’m trying to avoid politics as much as I can for the rest of my vacation. I’m taking a twitter break, although I’m working on a piece for TPV. But of course, I’ll be coming by here for news updates.)
Well, last night I made the BEST pork loin chops. Marinade for 3 hours in olive oil, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. Sear in a pan, 4 minutes a side. Then put into a 425 oven for 15 minutes. Delish.
Tonight I’m lazy, so we’re getting Indian delivery.
I’m not going to warn you again, young one, about posting those delicious menus on TOD and making me jealous and hungry! Just kidding with the warning. I’m thinking of trying your pork chop recipe soon. Sound’s delicious. I am a bit envious though, because since my daughter moved to another state in August to take a new job, I just do basic cooking. When she was still living at home, I had a reason to cook, a motivation, you might say. My chihuahua baby, Winston, isn’t too demanding, so most days I just throw a basic meal together. He’s satisfied as long as he gets his meat out of the deal!!!
He didn’t cave, he didn’t cave, hallelujah … he did not cave. Love that! btw … LL what is for dinner at Casa de LL? I had a smashing Manhattan tonight, followed by a Cuban Sandwich which I made myself, weighted down in the oven with a foil wrapped brick! Awesome!
IF PRESIDENT OBAMA WERE WHITE,SELFISH,CRUDE,A LIAR,SELF CONSUMED, EASILY CONTROLLED,A POOR PRESIDENT AND GREEDY…HE WOULDN’T HAVE THESE PROBLEMS…HE’D FIT IN WITH THE REST OF DC!
Good morning from my world – everyone is watching – how RUDE are those press people – the gabble at the end was disgusting – and as for the house of reps – they are beyond FAIL – I wonder what Boehner had to hear in private about his inability to do his job.
Never was anything truer than that Barack Obama is the grownup in the room. I would add that the TOD posters are there as well. Bless you all
GM, 99ts! Yep, the press in general is rude to PBO, especially the members of the WH Press Corps. They seem to think their job is to repeat GOP talking points on every issue. I really believe that they think that doing a bit of research and presenting bare facts would cause them some type of personal injury. If I were the Goddess of the Press, I’d pay them based on the quality of their work, and I’d be sure to pay the media stenographers minimum wage. IMO, a majority of them don’t earn the high salaries they’re paid. Luke Russert, for example, went from being an unknown to an “important” journalist whose opinion is to be respected in a matter of weeks, and he’s horrible at his job.
My first real knowledge of the WH Press was when PBO visited Australia. There were many things happening of much impact to us and at press conferences all that the US press asked about were events in the US. It was seen as very insulting to a country that had just opened its doors to a military presence from another country – not worth a question as to what this would mean to both countries.
At least I now know they are just as rude at home – not sure if that is a benefit or not.
Bravo, Chi! You said it all. An independent Press, disseminating truthful information to the people, is indispensable to a well functioning Democracy. Sadly, for the most part, the United States no longer has an independent press dedicated to communicating truthful information to the public. What we have is a mixture of sensationalism press and a propaganda press.
I saw Django Unchained last night. I thought it was pretty raw overall and thought Leo did great. I have a whole bunch of other emotions that I don’t feel like getting into at the particular moment but did anyone else see it? Thoughts?
I do not intend to see it. From the little that I have heard and the few scenes that I have seen, it is mostly sensationalism with stereotypes aplenty and little respect for historical fact. As an A A woman of a certain age, I have heard young people say what they would or would not do during this awful time in our history and the fantasy of getting back at the slave owner is a popular one, but I know enough about our history to know that this was unlikely. Furthermore, I am not entertained by watching movies that show how low and how violent we can be. If I want to know anything about those days, there are more authoritative sources than this. Even the title of this film is unfortunate. It reminds me of those awful Mandingo-like movies of the 70’s.
I totally agree with you CEB! This is one of these sensationalist movies that seem to appear from time time. There is no way I would pay even a penny to see such movies. I learned my lesson from those Mandingo movies of the 70’s.
Hi Jessica, I saw it today. I enjoyed it and yes Leo was great! I thought it was entertaining and can’t wait for the DVD. I know it was not historically correct and the premise was mostly fantasy, but it was a great movie. Also, I thought it was well written and had humor in just the right places. …two thumbs up!
Oh, he’s done for sure, 99. The message to McConnell is meant to convey that he only prolongs the agony for a few days for Boehner if he filibusters on Sunday/Monday a Senate bill, but also that no matter what he does, we are going to do everything we can to replace him in 2014.
I will be very surprised if he is still speaker after this debacle – but then again – the gop has no idea what it is doing – so a speaker who allows them to vacation 90% of the time is probably what they want.
2014 will be very important – you continually know the path before 99% follow it – which is why your tweets are so delightful. Thanks Bob.
PS: 99ts, I always enjoy reading your observations and comments. Thank you for your love and support of PBO and our country. Truly, we live in a global society where what happens in one country affects many others. I love the fact the community that Chips has created is international.
ty CEB – that is kind of you – sometimes I wonder if I have the “right” to comment on another country’s issues – but the US so impacts our lives. We adore PBO and cannot understand how the media can still present anything negative about him. He reflects every issue that the GOP held dear – until a black man said it/did it.
I can still remember a discussion with my uncle (I’m old – he is VERY old) in 2008 when we said – it will be a miracle if a man called Barack Obama is elected President – but it was no miracle – it was the man himself. I so appreciate TOD and being able to comment here. It is my Number 1 source for the truth about US news.
Of course you have the right to comment on what goes on in the U.S. and in any other nation, 99ts! Whether some want to admit it or not, we’re a global community, and what happens in other nations does affect us. Anyone who doesn’t realize this is pining for the Dark Ages when few could even imagine there were two huge continents on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
‘ A senior Senate Dem aide tells me that the fallback proposal Reid is working on would extend tax cuts on income just up to $250,000, not up to $400,000, as Obama’s most recent compromise proposal did. What this means is that if Senate Republican leaders fail to agree with Senate Dems on a proposal, the fallback plan Reid will offer will essentially rescind Obama’s offer to raise the income threshold to $400,000. ‘
The President will be forced by Reid’s obstinance to sign off on a deal that the President essentially campaigned on for 18 months–not raising taxes on the first $250,000 and having those making over $250,000 pay the a little more.
If true, the President will stall the economy of the Blogosphere Outrage Manufacturing sector, which has been hoping for a stimulus since Election Day.
‘if Senate Republican leaders fail to agree with Senate Dems on a proposal, the fallback plan Reid will offer will essentially rescind Obama’s offer’
This seems perfectly logical to my disordered mind, and an excellent way to tell GOP if they back away, then there’s no ‘deal’ making, no compromise. The Pres will stick to his original position.
I forgot about that aspect, mostly because the President would never respond in kind to Coburn. Amazing how junior is now coming up on his second term as President of the United States of America, leader of the free world. There’s that to smile about. :).
I’m not sure why or where I got this idea, but I think their close friendship is based on some sort of religious affinity. In any case, Coburn has proven himself to be a complete and utter misanthrope and I can’t stand that he gets to trumpet all his shameful and misguided ideas.
All I got out of that interview was that both Ezra and Coburn like to hear the sounds of their own voices. Meant nothing much to me in the way of bringing forth any conscious dialogue for us to hear. I don’t even know if they met up anywhere, in their little chat. Next.
Tom Colburn was one of those insurgents plotting a Coup d’etat against pres Obama with Gingrich, Luntz, Paul Ryan, etc. And last year he said fatuous nonsense about pres Obama and his education. I called his office and left a strongly worded messages. Tom Colburn is a green snake under a green grass. He is so envious and his so called friendship is only but pigmentation deep.
The Coup d’etat on Jan 20, 2009 just a few hours after pres Obama was sworn in. Ezra Klein didn’t bother to bring that up…..but playing DC chatter clownish games with Tom Colbrun had him giddy? Shame.
Yes…..VC, Tom Colburn was one of the 20 TBGOPers that plotted a political Coup d’etat on Jan 20, 2009, just after hours pres Obama was sworn into office as POTUS.
I’m inclined to think the majority of #GOP don’t understandpatriotism, Christianity (as I understand it anyways), don’t understand leadership, friendship, or even the positions they run for. /smh/ I mention Christianity because Coburn’s profile says he’s a Southern Baptist deacon.
A late comical comment about PBO’s speech event earlier this evening – we watched it and then left for dinner, but did anybody else notice this: just after PBO left the room w/o taking questions, the camera panned over to the press corps again. One of the reporters in the front row (I think it was Major Garret) went to sit down and missed the seat and fell to the floor, while the others just gaped at him. It was pretty funny, but unfortunately brief. Did I imagine it? Either way, couldn’t happen to a “nicer” guy…:-)
Woke up to the horrible news that the Delhi rape victim died at Singapore today morning. We have one of the most corrupt political, police and legal admins in the world that will never do the right thing when it comes to horrible crimes like this.
Yes, df. The brutality is stomach turning. There is a big public backlash at least now. But I don’t have much confidence in our corruptest government but the alternatives also equally suck.
Instead of pushing the national debate in the direction of serious systemic reform, especially of law enforcement and justice delivery, a number of opposition politicians have started an irresponsible debate on the need for the death penalty, or castration of rapists. These demands, which have had a populist echo amongst the protesters at India Gate, ignore the fact that shoddy investigation, poor forensics and misogynist attitudes among the police and even lower judiciary are the main reasons why rape victims in India do not get justice.
I don’t envy your country, amk. You have either Congress, or the batshit insane fundamentalists. Not much of a consolation to know that the US isn’t the only fucked up country in the world.
LL. One of the consolations in our country is that voter turnout is normally pretty good from 60 to 80% and people vote out non-performing governments routinely, both at state and federal level. The problem is all the political parties are corrupt to the core and so we are pretty much voting for one form to corruption to another. We used to have strong and fairly honest judiciary but even that has now become polluted with corruption.
But the younger generation are now willing to put up a fight now. So there is hope. As one journo put it, Young India. Old politicians.
I remember when Castro was quoted as saying something like ~Cuba will never have to attack
the U.S.A. We just send them all our sugar and they will die from eating it.~
Haaretz reports that Benjamin Netanyahu looks poised to appoint, Ron Dermer, the architect of his campaign season alliance with Mitt Romney, as Israel’s new Ambassador to the United States.
From Haaretz …
1. Dermer, who immigrated from the U.S. in 1997, is clearly identified by the Obama administration as a supporter of the Republican party. His family in Miami Beach have close ties with the Bush family, particularly with former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who’s name has been mentioned as one of a number of possible contenders for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016. 2. Aside from identifying him as a Republican supporter, many Democrats see Dermer as the brains behind Netanyahu’s support for Mitt Romney.
[snip]
You’ll note that I highlighted that line at the end — that Dermer was apparently a major unskewer and convinced Netanyahu that Romney was going to win big. The Haaretz piece also notes that Dermer manages to be wildly more right-wing in his policies than Netanyahu himself, which is saying something — though Netanyahu’s own politics, as distinct from whatever coalition he’s running have always been a little obscure to me. In any case, it’s generally seen as a bad step to appoint to an ambassador who is seen as being openly hostile to the head of state in the home country. It sounds like another case of the profound damage Netanyahu is doing to Israel by his stance toward the country’s primary and perhaps soon only major ally.
Behold Coburn is in his “mealy” mouthed mode. Of course it’s the both side meme share responsibility bull shit. And ol’ Ezra agrees. I’m going to a DIY channel to see if I can learn something useful, sheesh!
“The Republicans have painted themselves into a box. We are at the point, now, that the Speaker of the House does not have the ability to bring his caucus along to make any compromises on the budget. And the simplest explanation for this is that bullshit is responsible. The Republicans have fed their base so much bullshit that they’ve crippled themselves.”
Just to show that I’m not, in fact, the paragon of perfection you all expect:
I was going to delete 3 files. For some reason, I like using shift+delete, which bypasses the Recycle bin. Well, I did my usual, but wound up deleting an entire directory. Sigh.
But, being the librarian that I am, did some quick research, and now have a utility running which will hopefully recover the files.
Note to self: no more “shift+delete”. I can’t be trusted with that power.
Hi LL – the waste basket is most powerful. I helped a neighbor convert some long held tapes (people talking) to digital format. Because she got very confused about “files” I suggested she leave the converted files on the desktop until we had time to sort them out together. Family member who is keen on “neat and tidy” deleted them.
Fortunately he had never heard of “shift+delete” nor the waste basket.
Well done – the man who provides my tech support (being Mr 99ts) would applaud your skills – he loves ShiftDelete and many other keyboard operations – I have no faith in my skills to use them.
I checked his twitter – why on earth does the congress keep “naming” post offices when it seems the GOP’s main aim is to send the post office bankrupt so those wonderful pillars of free enterprise can refuse to provide a similar service. Congress is truly broken when post office naming is its main function.
Is there any politicians out there who will put what is best for the country ahead of what is best for their job. John Boehner is more concern about saving his job, then saving Americans jobs.
Good going Bob. If that’s Tom Coburn you speak of, I spit at him because he was touted by Senator Obama as a good friend and colleague at one time. Makes no difference to me if one is of the opposing party. A friend is a friend, and a friend to PBO, Coburn was not in the end. I cannot stand a rethug !!
Every man arrested in connection to that case needs to see the inside of a jail cell for a good, long time. If what they did to that sadly deceased young woman isn’t evil, I don’t know what is.
No doubt I missed this compilation when it was shared here (by flitting in and out over the last week), but in case someone else did too I’m including the link. It’s a recap of the campaign from the campaign …..
Well, I had thought I deleted my video library on my laptop. Then I found the handy button “restore libraries”. Now it’s back. Fortune favors babes, fools, and Liberal Librarians.
I watch the Revives the other night, but I got alittle upset when they gave the award for best musical performance to Gov. Christie. They pick Christie duet with Jimmy Fallon over President Obama singing “Let’s Stay Together”.
Finally got to see “Lincoln” tonight. Spielberg is a cinematic genius! Daniel Day-Lewis is surely a lock for an Oscar, but I REALLY want to see Tommie Lee Jones win one too. He gave a SUPERLATIVE performance!
I do not swear — but right now, I feel like borrowing a few curse words from ultimate movie-cursor (Samuel L Jackson) and directing them at the gop punks
Alright, who always notices the virtues of Faith Hill on Mondays? LL, UL…..RL, GL……Am I ……….No. Just about every Monday night the observation: “Just sayin’, Faith Hill is HAWT.”
Hey a person can dream, right? Are Speakers only chosen from the majority party? Or are they just voted in across parties? If so, I’d surely love to have Nancy Smash get her gavel back in Jan. A Palace Coup! Damn, I’d love that dream becoming reality!
How the heck are you, TODers? I’ve so much catching up to do, & won’t be able to until post-new year. In case I don’t get a chance to sneak in again, HAPPY NEW YEAR, yessss! 🙂
Jovie – the President has said he will NOT be blackmailed over the debt ceiling. The media may have forgotten this as they tell of all the dastardly things the RWNJs want to do – the people and the President do not forget. Let’s just listen to what PBO has to say & tell the media where to put the GOP b..s..
The Republicans can propose all they like and they can posture and brag and try to intimidate PBO, but they won’t succeed. He told us he would not give in to this nonsense and he has never lied to us.
I got myself a security job! I was working as a provision loader at the navy but that place hasn’t been working out too well due to the lack of hours and the issue with getting security clearance so unfortunately I had to quit the place. I will call him today as I haven’t been working there for a month and now that I am working as security I doubt that I’ll have time to go back to that place. Anyway off to work, will be back on later. 🙂
This should be fun.
Agreed! I’m feeling kinda giddy! 🙂
Give em Hell PBO
Can’t wait
Hmmm, this should be interesting.
Hello!
She is dumber than a door knob. Always appears dazed and confused, like she just left a long cocktail party.
‘ Always appears dazed’
Tut tut, JO’B! Kay’s prolly only communicating with her feelings in her dazed moments – notice ‘she’s got “a positive feeling” this time. 😉
Wolfeeeeee is guest hosting Hard Ball today!!!!
I’m just wondering when Joy Ried is gonna get her own spot?
I like her, she is smart. She did a good job guest hosting, too.
You betcha.
Love em both….
Classic Mark Knoller.
The earth will cease rotating on it’s axis as the talking heads salivate!
Pres. Obama’s statement is getting network coverage. Translation: shit just got real.
Fresh from the elephant’s ass!
He’s pissed, and he should be. And the media folk on MSNBC and elsewhere spreading rumors should be called out as well – they are part of the problem – a HUGE part of it.
UTaustinliberal, will you please repost here about David Axelrod’s interview in Chicago? Thanks.
Lol, ut.
You got that right.
You are not alone, hopefruit2! Like you, I don’t know why people are quick to embrace rumors by media personalities instead of waiting to hear from the President.
Congrats, Tien, on #1.
West Wing Report, a reliably neutral tweeter (aka actual journalist) has posted some great tweets in the last hour:
“President holding firm on higher tax rates for everyone $250K+, @CNBC reports. Last week, POTUS offered $400K, so a tougher line today”
“POTUS also (per @CNBC) insists on extension of unemployment insurance for 2 mil. people. Wants up or down vote, unless GOP has counteroffer.”
“It appears that if Republicans thought Pres. Obama would give in as he has in the past, they have miscalculated this time around.”
Give ’em hell, Barry. (No disrespect to POTUS intended; I pretty much worship the ground he walks on, the air that he breathes.)
Hear Hear, Donna!
I will NOT micromanage his Presidency…..

Thank you Donna Dem for your comments.HZ
Thank you. Yes, been following WestWingReports–very informative.
They are very informative. But for some reason, they blocked me right away when I started tweeting and I wasn’t really even harsh in those early days……..Bugs me because I’d love to RT them.
here’s a little warm-up video (mahalos dudette)
http://immasmartypants.blogspot.com/2011/12/then-i-will-crush-them.html
This cracked me up. TOD’ers are hilarious on twitter.
Yup. I fav’d that tweet. 🙂
LOL!
Also, this:
“Filibuster Reform Champions Say Democrats Have 51 Votes To Change Rules.”
Looks like January will be stellar.
Senate Dems have finally found what passes for courage, some great new faces in both chambers.
And POTUS’ 2nd inaugural, capped off by SOTU.
Hallelujah.
THERE ARE NO WORDS.
SHAME. Sick. Disgust.
Truly Hopefruit, this world can be a grim and horrible place.
this just breaks my heart.
Terribly sad outcome of this unspeakably horrible crime.
Did I just see in my TL that PBO is doing MTP this Sunday? Yikes.
I will wait for official word from the WH – but if that rumor turns out to be true, he’s not playing.
For some reason, the picture of POTUS at the top of this post – any picture of his back really – just makes my heart clench with tenderness. I don’t know why. I guess there is something vulnerable about it.
Awwww, that’s so sweet maryl1. ☺
I feel the same way maryl.
We’ve got his back, Daisydem!
Just for the record….I cannot stand the White House Correspondents! All of them are a waste of time!!!!!!!!!!! 🙄
second! just watching them posture and guffaw makes my stomach turn!
Yes ..me too Susanne.
x100
Donna I echo your sentiments 10-fold.
Arrogant self-aggrandizing blowhards.
Look at them! A bunch of noisy roosters.
notice all the serious reportage, and not one thing has happened! there is no news! they are just spouting the crap from inside their scrambled heads!
They are all stupid hoes.
I am with you, Donna! They are utterly disgusting. A lot of them should be on GOP payroll as propagandist instead of pretending to be reputable journalists.
Shut up Press!!!!
maybe the president is enjoying this–we can all see them talking away, with nothing whatever to report. very strong visual of the press’ lack of relevance.
They all looked so self-important. They are legends in their own minds. What a bunch of shallow, useless fools. They made my skin crawl. What a relief it was when PBO came in the room.
Too pissed to write more than simple sentences.
It’s all just a game and fodder for ratings …
America be damned for all the media cares…
He’s In the HOUSE!
PBO is here!
Our President is pissed.
Pitiful that the President had to tell people to shut up (nicely) while he’s speaking! Someone needs to get slapped upside the head!
Hahahahaha!! PBO just called out a bunch of idiot stenographers for gabbing while he was talking! 😆
Such disrespect…we need classes in civility.
Someone one needs a round of public shaming (and maybe a stint in the unemployment line)
POTUS had to SHUSH the press. GAH.
He had to chastise as if they are children. He is totally the only adult in the room.
How about pulling their press passes for 6 months or so?
If B. won’t allow a vote the whole blame is laid at his feet.
thank you for that. I knew something didn’t sound right, my bad.
No questions taken from the jackals!
In other words, the President was not in the mood of hearing GOP talking points disguised as legitimate questions. Bravo, Mr. President. Until the media stops behaving as a propaganda arm of the GOP there is no need to treat their questions seriously.
Good. PBO left without answering stupid questions.
Hear hear! I was glad to see that!
No lie!
As in: if I do not do my job, I do NOT get paid. Quite simple, really.
Good; PBO did not take any questions from the jackals.
Well, do you think that a deal will be made that covers the minimum that the president mentioned (unemployment benefits extended and to rise in taxes for those who make less than 250,000)?
I want to know who the disrespectful jerks were too
Whoops! There it is. They have 2 options. Shit or get off the pot!
Holla!
So far so good.
UTaustinliberal [I’m repeating myself here . . ] wanting to catch your attention, requesting that you
repost the location of David Axelrod’s interview at the Chicago Institute of Politics. Thank you!
. . . or anybody else who has that location to post. Thank you, peoples. I have other peoples
who want to watch.

Try this:
Thank you, Meta, thank you Carla! xoxoxox !!
Good thing I am not the FLOTUS…so much would be coming out of my mouth, they would have to duct tape it shut. Worse then taking to 2 year olds.
So I wonder who will be moderating…BriWi Maybe? Gregory is being investingated by the DC Police and it was reported earlier this week that he would not be hosting this Sunday. Hmmmmm……
Gregory is, MTP lied, 2 days ago and said he was on vacation and not hosting this weekend. But all of a sudden he is back hosting.
Well what do you know, POTUS will be on Meet the Press. Well I plan to be watching Meet the Press Sunday morning.
BOOM! I missed this statement by the President when it happened. He means business, and so should all of us. Write, call, email. So sick of these people not doing their jobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pres. Obama is on MTP this weekend.
Dang! I was hoping I wouldn’t have to listen to him. Geesh!!!
The one time since Tim Russert’s death that I will watch.
This is his second step in “taking it to the American people” as he warned them he would. Our POTUS is done with these fools.
anybody know why the despicable house republicans didn’t get a mention in that speech? pbo talked about the turtle meeting with reid to work out a deal, but isn’t it the house that’s been impossible to pin down? i’d heard boner childishly wanted the senate to make the first move, then he could continue saying no to whatever was proposed. is this more of the same?
My view is this: A ” bipartisan bill” from the senate gives a fig leaf to Boehner to take to his caucus. He has political cover to allow a vote if the senate Rs have voted for it already.”
Boner has stated, even if the senate passes something he will NOT bring it up for a vote unless it has the support of a majority of repugs, doesn’t matter if it might have the support of a majority of the house. He is worthless, worse then worthless.
Would you believe…………!!!!!!!!!!!!
From PBO: “Up or down vote, Repugs! I’m kicking ass and taking names….. as of NOW! “

Here you go
Sorry that was for SCC
hmmm…now this is an incentive they can understand.

UGH.
Seriously ugh…
Somehow I suspect President Obama was under the impression that David Gregory was not going to be hosting…
And NBC did one of their right wing inspired switcharoos to play gotcha with the President…
This is going to so painfully sweet to witness PBO “crush them”
I completely agree LDS…
It just pains me that idiots like David Gregory get to even for a second share a space with President Obama…
Pathetic David Gregory is just so unworthy and undeserving of face time with a serious, hard working patriot like our President…
He’s not going back to Hawaii – LDS was just saying that (s)he *thinks* PBO will continue his “vacation” if just in his mind…. 🙂
BobFr? Anyone?

GOP Senators Want To Take Debt Ceiling Hostage In Order To Raise Retirement Age
Good Evening Everyone,
The President’s statement was clear, precise, short and to the point. Remains to be seen if Boehner and his likes in the House can follow by delivering a short bill that does exactly what the President has asked.
PBO will be on MTP this Sunday. What an honor bestowed upon the David Gregory!
http://presspass.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/12/28/16217487-exclusive-president-obama-meets-the-press-this-sunday?lite
That should do wonders for their sagging ratings.
Just for one day.
Any port in a storm I guess.
But but but…Mark Knoller told me that Harry Reid looked downtrodden….
At Sara’s request, I am reposting the link.

you are a total sweeeeeetie pie. xoxox thank you.
David Axelrod was magnificent! Thank you so much UT and Carla for sharing this.
I hope Chips will post PBO speech here later. I missed it.
Here you go Africa:
we love you chips!
Thank you Sara 🙂
So very true, HZ!! And, thank you for writing those letters!!

YARDARM!!!!!!!!!!!! i LOVE YOU!!!!! Thanks!
Some here won’t understand this.
I got it, Sir. Loud and clear!
Thank you.
I been wearing it like a shroud for over 50 years.
Me to, LDS! This brings back so many memories. I actually still have the LP which I truly treasure!
Oh yeah, Yard!!! Love this! Hmmm…I wonder if “That’s Why You’re Overweight” is on YouTube? I’ll go check it out!
Ha!
I understood it when I was a kid; singing that song earned me a back-hand across the mouth!
Different perspective then, eh?
Some of us do understand, yardarm! We were there!
Thank you.
Stay tuned. Since 9t9 sent me to the basement I’ve been discovering a lot of stuff down here. 🙂
So far you are discovering some gems from your basement! At least for some of us oldies.
Wish I were in on your posts about the song. 😉 I love this, but it sounds like some of you met up 40 years ago! I wasn’t tuned into songs not played on radio station. Standard stuff on channels I could get.
he SHOULD just let the President speak and STFU. That would be preferable
amen! here’s an appropriate question from the press: ‘mr president, what are your thoughts about the fiscal cliff?’. here’s another one: ‘mr president, what are the key issues the american people will be seeing you address in the near future ?’ then just listen and transcribe.
Totally agree. He will be watched, he wouldn’t like the backlash if he’s an azz.
Tweeted that to Gregory, meet the press bad PBO. Worded a little differently.
S/b and PBO.
We are in this together. Thanks so much Sara. HZ
Please for give me, Sara. Should be: Thank you, Sara. HZ
Great tweet, please add….and let the President finish his sentences without cutting him off at mid-thought!!!!
Bravo, Dudette! Really excellent tweet! Gregory needs to know that many of us are paying attention.
Cute! 🙂
That’s freaking cool.
You go PBO.
lol. JINX! You owe me a soda! 🙂
It’s in the mail – Diet Pepsi!
Wow….rocket launcher huh? Because you know, said Los Angeles person might want to blow up a tank someday or a squirrel. WTF is wrong with people? A rocket launcher?!?
It is truly mindboggling
Dayum! How many “deer” were they planning to mow down with that?
Have rocket, will travel. Ad in redneck newspaper.
I believe that it is not deer that they were going to shoot
This is horrific and breaks my heart.

‘How Men in South Africa Are Trying to Stop Violence Against Women’
http://www.theatlantic.com/sexes/archive/2012/12/how-men-in-south-africa-are-trying-to-stop-violence-against-women/266689/
time for this to stop!!!!!
The rapist’s mother’s sickeningly vile & brainwashed reaction:
BOYS??? MISTAKES?!?!?!?
So lock up the girls then just so boys don’t make ‘mistakes’…
Insane…
No, we lock up the boys. problem solved. no kidding.
Take out the “… while minding her own business” and I co-sign completely!
I made a comment about these despicable men/boys who commit these heinous crimes against women. I wondered how could any man brought in this world by a mother do something like this to a woman? It seems I was terribly mistaken because some of the mothers of these monsters are ready to justify their evil actions.
That is just so sad. There is something so seriously wrong with the society. I hope the death penalty is doled out to the rapists.
The president certainly has the patience to deal with it — I certainly do not.
i’d say pbo’s patience is thin at the moment. he’s about as angry as i’ve ever seen him. that stormy expression gives me chills.
Hi Jackie, Those are almost certainly troll callers – may even been paid. Best to not listen to that stuff – it’s no different than the trolls on Twitter and the comments sections of many blogs. Most Americans are well aware of the horror of the GOP.
Happy New Year!
#FORWARD
I agree, ignore all of that stuff, we know better!
Absolutely spot on Bob…
Jackie be forewarned: As Bob indicated, many, if not most of these so-called callers are plants. GOP plants – well paid trolls. So take their “comments” with the appropriate amount of salt.
Paid trolls who call in? I don’t think I ever considered that possibility! If #GOP put only a fraction of their negative political energy to work in a positive way for the country, the US’s ‘exceptionalism’ would really be the thing the world couldn’t miss.
That’s the TRUTH, VC!
That;s exactly right. They are plants. It’s all PSYOPS. Best way to beat it = call your senator and rep and tell them to comply with their oath of office and do their job. Talk to family and friends and make sure they know the fiscal cliff facts. Fight the hate and fear with information.
Gregory? Why? He’s not deserving to even be in the same room.
Thank you Bobfr – it is time PBO got an update on media hacks and who he should talk with – then again – maybe he wants to take Gregory down
I just tweeted him to study up on the fiscal cliff info before Sunday, and that I would be looking for examples of real knowledge from him, Mary1. I also mentioned that he needs to jettison the talking points, that we’d be watching, and reminded him that his interview is with PBO, not the GOP. We have given him notice of what we expect, and if he tries to make PBO look bad by pushing GOP talking points, he’ll hear from us.
It’s all we can do. Someone has to hold his feet to the fire and his bosses aren’t going to do it!
Honored by the retweet, Bobfr!
Hi everybody, hope you ALL had a great Christmas and may you ALL be BLESSED. I missed you guys not being here very day.
I’mmmmm baaacccckkkk.
WAY TO GO PBO. CONGRESS DO YOUR FRIGGING JOBS. Could not have been clearer. Yes!!!
I am not American as you know but those people are really pissing me off. This will effect everyone all over if they don’t move.
Absolutely spot-on!
You can see Malia in his young face.
I was thinking the same thing.

🙂 What’s for dinner? Now I always need to know what’s cookin’ at Casa de LL:)
LL, so good to see that you are here and feeling better. The menu sounds delicious indeed. Enjoy.HZ
I saw you raving about the dinner last night:) That’s what made me ask tonight!
AND DON’T FORGET ‘STUPID’…THEY LOVE STUPID!
Hello majiir
My first real knowledge of the WH Press was when PBO visited Australia. There were many things happening of much impact to us and at press conferences all that the US press asked about were events in the US. It was seen as very insulting to a country that had just opened its doors to a military presence from another country – not worth a question as to what this would mean to both countries.
At least I now know they are just as rude at home – not sure if that is a benefit or not.
Our media sucks…
The American media accounts for a good portion of why our democracy and union is in tatters…
So mediocre, so crappy, so shortsighted, so greedy, so corrupt, so uninformed, so unethical…
The “we” is for all involved in such actions.
CEB, I so agree with you. NO.INTENTION.TO.SEE.THIS.MOVIE.
Thanks again, Bobfr for your brilliance. HZ
Yes, agreed. Thank you Bobfr. ~ Forward ~. We’re all here. Training ourselves.
Yes we can. Now is the time. Let’s try democracy. xoxox
Bob – I think Boehner is done – regardless as to what happens – he just wimped out – crying seems to be his only option at this point in time.
Oh, he’s done for sure, 99. The message to McConnell is meant to convey that he only prolongs the agony for a few days for Boehner if he filibusters on Sunday/Monday a Senate bill, but also that no matter what he does, we are going to do everything we can to replace him in 2014.
#FORWARD
I will be very surprised if he is still speaker after this debacle – but then again – the gop has no idea what it is doing – so a speaker who allows them to vacation 90% of the time is probably what they want.
2014 will be very important – you continually know the path before 99% follow it – which is why your tweets are so delightful. Thanks Bob.
Thank you 99!!!!
His plan ‘C’ has someone tweeted a few days ago.
Oh yes, Ashley Judd is gonna take the GRAND WIUZARD down. I’m gonna do everything I can to help get AJ elected. The sista is serious business.
greg sargent from wapo:
‘ A senior Senate Dem aide tells me that the fallback proposal Reid is working on would extend tax cuts on income just up to $250,000, not up to $400,000, as Obama’s most recent compromise proposal did. What this means is that if Senate Republican leaders fail to agree with Senate Dems on a proposal, the fallback plan Reid will offer will essentially rescind Obama’s offer to raise the income threshold to $400,000. ‘
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2012/12/28/obama-to-gop-last-chance/
If accurate, it sounds like Good Cop, Bad Cop.
The Pres will stick to his original position.
okay, yes. I’m going to generate a similar tweet. thanks, Bobfr.
That is just truly pathetic.
All the time.
Excited to not watch Maddow show tonight, specially with Ezra Klein hosting.
i just automatically don’t watch if he’s hosting. rachel can get on my nerves, but he is unbearable.
I’m gonna watch the monkey dance.
such a twerp …
Indeed!
what we have been saying about this little know-it-all is true.
Didn’t Coburn used to be friends with then-Senator Obama?
I think so, as long as he was “junior”!
Next.
And that, my friend, is what accounts for 99% of teevee punditry.
OMG, that’s right! I’d forgotten that he was in that group. Disgusting beyond words.
The Coup d’etat on Jan 20, 2009 just a few hours after pres Obama was sworn in. Ezra Klein didn’t bother to bring that up…..but playing DC chatter clownish games with Tom Colbrun had him giddy? Shame.
I’m late to the gathering, but I sought clarification anyway.
THE BOMB.
Yes he was, VC!
Very well then. *CLICK*
Amazing! And this the guy whose rumors make people go crazy and start attacking President Obama.
This filibuster reform proposal sucks ass-

Come on Man!
Turncoats Levin and Schumer…..
Woke up to the horrible news that the Delhi rape victim died at Singapore today morning. We have one of the most corrupt political, police and legal admins in the world that will never do the right thing when it comes to horrible crimes like this.
May she rest in peace.
This entire thing is revolting. My heart goes out to this woman and her family.
Yes, df. The brutality is stomach turning. There is a big public backlash at least now. But I don’t have much confidence in our corruptest government but the alternatives also equally suck.
One of the op-eds
Instead of pushing the national debate in the direction of serious systemic reform, especially of law enforcement and justice delivery, a number of opposition politicians have started an irresponsible debate on the need for the death penalty, or castration of rapists. These demands, which have had a populist echo amongst the protesters at India Gate, ignore the fact that shoddy investigation, poor forensics and misogynist attitudes among the police and even lower judiciary are the main reasons why rape victims in India do not get justice.
Many more here.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-20836902
Truth …
Yup. And nra and its gun goons kill 3 times of aq every year.
I remember when Castro was quoted as saying something like ~Cuba will never have to attack
the U.S.A. We just send them all our sugar and they will die from eating it.~
So true!
I’m claiming 1st for the next thread – just in case Chips posts a new thread while my head is turned for a second. 🙂 🙂 🙂
😀 😀 😀 😀
LOL is right….I vote you FIRST hopefruit2 for the next thread….I am 2nd.
Congrats jojo on #2!
cONGRATS ON BEING #1
There should be a prize for last too!
Yes but folks would always try to out “last” one another. Can’t do that with first! 🙂 🙂
I see nothing wrong with that, Hopefruit2! We can’t always make awards only to the swift. Sometimes we need to reward those who endure to the last.
I enthusiastically endorse that proposal, Almablanca. We need a prize for the diehard closers!
It’s all yours, hopefruit. xoxo Congratulations.
Thanks Sara! 🙂
CAN’T STAND EZRA STEIN and his halting speech….it makes my skin crawl. Off to HGTV until LO unless he’s replaced by one of the emogs I hate.
This jerk is seriously on my last nerve:
More Trouble Ahead

Booman explains it – using the President’s words from 2010
http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2012/12/28/101852/18
“The Republicans have painted themselves into a box. We are at the point, now, that the Speaker of the House does not have the ability to bring his caucus along to make any compromises on the budget. And the simplest explanation for this is that bullshit is responsible. The Republicans have fed their base so much bullshit that they’ve crippled themselves.”
The truth is the light, eh?
Seems that way yardarm – if you believe the b..s.. you can no longer be a rational thinker
smh!
Crippled by bullshit…a new syndrome!!
Just remind yourself LL: Faith Hill is HAWT.
Geeze, man, that sounds like the dark ages.
My first computer still had MSDOS as an OS. I was killer with the keyboard shortcuts.
LOLz. Don’t tell us everything!
Well, see my post below. I thought I had deleted the Videos library. Apparently I didn’t. Everything is back now. Yay me.
Well done – the man who provides my tech support (being Mr 99ts) would applaud your skills – he loves ShiftDelete and many other keyboard operations – I have no faith in my skills to use them.
With great power comes great responsibility! 😉
I checked his twitter – why on earth does the congress keep “naming” post offices when it seems the GOP’s main aim is to send the post office bankrupt so those wonderful pillars of free enterprise can refuse to provide a similar service. Congress is truly broken when post office naming is its main function.
Please tweet that!!
Brass knuckles time …
Majority Leader Harry Reid boxing Boehner’s ears. Love it.
Is there any politicians out there who will put what is best for the country ahead of what is best for their job. John Boehner is more concern about saving his job, then saving Americans jobs.
President Obama – always has – always will.
Here, here!
That goes without saying 99ts and theo67. That is what POTUS has been doing the last four years and will continue to do.
This cracked me up! Boehner is like the naughty child at the family gathering, whose parents don’t discipline him so everyone else does! 🙂
You are On Fire, Sir Bobfr. Bravo!! Bravo!!! Bravo!!!
Bobfr…you are one of my heros!!! You never back down, you never forget.
THIS!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Bobfr – that needs to be repeated far and wide
Good going Bob. If that’s Tom Coburn you speak of, I spit at him because he was touted by Senator Obama as a good friend and colleague at one time. Makes no difference to me if one is of the opposing party. A friend is a friend, and a friend to PBO, Coburn was not in the end. I cannot stand a rethug !!
thank you bob. rachel needs to rein in her barking pups.
Bravo, Bob! Keep exposing them!
Cut off their orbs, I say ! BTW, hello TOD. Been lurkin 😀
Every man arrested in connection to that case needs to see the inside of a jail cell for a good, long time. If what they did to that sadly deceased young woman isn’t evil, I don’t know what is.
Castration, ass-whooping, then jail.
No doubt I missed this compilation when it was shared here (by flitting in and out over the last week), but in case someone else did too I’m including the link. It’s a recap of the campaign from the campaign …..

This is a fun read: http://www.chrisweigant.com/2012/12/28/my-2012-mclaughlin-awards-part-2/ one of those end of the year political award blog posts. Part 1 was excellent. Glad to see the “voters” get a notice for refusing to let the GOP steal their votes.
I love the choice of Sandra Fluke – if ever anyone deserves political stardom it is this delightful woman. She is already well on the way.
Well, I had thought I deleted my video library on my laptop. Then I found the handy button “restore libraries”. Now it’s back. Fortune favors babes, fools, and Liberal Librarians.
That’s right. Congratulations LL on having your treasured libraries restored! 🙂
… and those who read the instructions!
A lil sumpin ‘fore Chips flips the page.
Sorry. Not as good as the original but we all get older I guess.
Still nice, real nice…..
I’m enjoying Lawrence O’Donnell Award Show tonight.
Don’t forget to tune in to Rev Al’s “Revvie” Awards show on Monday 🙂
I watch the Revives the other night, but I got alittle upset when they gave the award for best musical performance to Gov. Christie. They pick Christie duet with Jimmy Fallon over President Obama singing “Let’s Stay Together”.
I didn’t see the Revvies that night. I hope Monday won’t be a repeat.
I am laughing so hard at Lawrence’s show. The video clips are even funnier tonight. 🙂 They are well dressed for the occasion
thanks for the recommendation–it was quite a lot of fun!
It was great – except for Ezra – he can’t stop taking down PBO – and saying how wonderful is Bill Clinton. What a creep
Woops – that was Chris Hayes – I think – praising everyone except the President for winning the election.
Go ahead, you’re among friends here. We feel ya!
Curse away Linda, curse away!
Perfect timing, perfect quote for the occasion!
You are not alone, Linda!
for anyone who missed it earlier today, sam wang got a wapo wonk award from wapo:
(please disregard the norquist bit–all the rest is very good)

Won’t work this time!!
I sure hope not!
Alright, who always notices the virtues of Faith Hill on Mondays? LL, UL…..RL, GL……Am I ……….No. Just about every Monday night the observation: “Just sayin’, Faith Hill is HAWT.”
OT: Where is Tally? It’s been a minute……
Away for the holidays?
Hey a person can dream, right? Are Speakers only chosen from the majority party? Or are they just voted in across parties? If so, I’d surely love to have Nancy Smash get her gavel back in Jan. A Palace Coup! Damn, I’d love that dream becoming reality!
How the heck are you, TODers? I’ve so much catching up to do, & won’t be able to until post-new year. In case I don’t get a chance to sneak in again, HAPPY NEW YEAR, yessss! 🙂
Performing “random acts of kindness” makes pre-teen children more popular with their peer group, researchers discover.

duh?
Anyone still up?
aloha almablana~
keep the lights light for the morning crew. i’m off to bed now.
Ok, sleep well in that island paradise you call home…..
Now this is a X mas gift to the republicans after the cliff nonsense, they hive you entitlement reform worse than Ryan plan-
http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/274783-eyeing-debt-ceiling-deadline-senate-republicans-offer-entitlement-reform-plan
Way worse than Ryan plan holding debt limit hostage unless they get rid of the social safety net. This is what they are up to!
Surprise!!!
Good for you!
Congratulations Jeff, great news!!!
Moooooooooooorning everyone:

Good morning!
