I have no idea what the TV show was about, but this version of ‘O Holy Night” by Trombone Shorty (yes, that’s him on the trumpet 😎 ) and other musicians from New Orleans is just ridiculously good!! In high school, we had a brass choir, and while I’m pretty sure none of had THIS kind of talent, it certainly would have been fun to try it…

Good Moring TOD’ers I hope you are all ready for the next couple of days. I m getting there. 🙂 We are having a Christmas dinner here atour Senior building on Christmas Day for those who have no family and are stay at homes. Should be fun. I am going to family on Christmas Eve, but will be home on Christmas Day. So far we have 10 people signed up to participate, but then I think we will be making plates for the shut-ins. I was intending to watch the show because I like Joy Reid, but I didn’t like what some of the guess were saying, and then they mention about the left being concern the President will cave, i said B.S. I am not watching that same old bashing Obama crap from the the left. And that guy sitting next to Herbert is just as bad as Herbert.
People walk away from these shows thinking the fiscal cliff is only about the Bush Tax Cuts, and they remain completely uninformed about all the other stuff that is in jeopardy, the potential impact to the economy, the fact that if we can’t get a deal now – that the likelihood of being able to pass a deal AFTER we go over the cliff is just as unlikely, and that there is a debt ceiling game involved in all of this that the GOP want to play, but the President has already warned them that he’s not planning to join in. They also have no idea that the US economy is the only “stable” economy in the world right now (along with Canada), and that if the economy goes back into the ditch, there may not be a way out of it this time. They clearly don’t understand how much work the President did to pull the economy out of the ditch, and they think it would be so simple to fix it once it slips back in. But all the tools for recovering an economy have been used up – and the whole world is on the brink.
It’s so irresponsible for these pundits to just say “go over the cliff” without thinking about the poor and elderly, the hungry kids, the people who are just putting their lives back together after the last crisis…
Not just that nut they specifically cut things in foreign policy, hoping fir an attack, like Embassy security.
And now they want to cut TSA.
I an telling you, they don’t care about you or I, only power!

Just enjoyed my 1st gift. My 11 yr. old granddaughter sent a CD she made for us of her playing xmas songs on the viola—–not as excruciating as it sounds, quite lovely in fact. She’s talented, if I do say so myself. The cover was a photo of her adorable self with her viola, first recording was her solo with her orchestra, the others solo performances. So sweet of her to do that for us. I am now in the spirit. Just in time—first bit of fam arrives today. And I am sore all over because I procrastinated on everything and had to do everything in about 1 day, including cleaning every nook and long neglected cranny, even tho I made everyone promise not to look under anything or behind anything.
Sounds delightful – and like you’ve got a lot to be proud of with your granddaughter. How lovely! Make sure you make time to enjoy the time with your family, and rest your achy bones. The only person who probably will notice any forgotten nook or cranny will be you… Everyone else will be impressed with how lovely your home looks – and be too busy enjoying themselves to care about anything else! 🙂

When I heard Nancy Pelosi say that she was not concern about the President including CPI in his offer, she said that they still could get the votes from the Democratic side, then I was not all that concern about this CPI issue. I feel like it is the radical left trying to cause trouble.

Newtown is getting inundated with so many free gifts and toys for the children that they have to turn some of them away and tell them to send them to organizations that serve needy children in memory of those lost.
If people put all that time, money, and energy into demanding gun control it would be a done deal. I know it’s a caring gesture to let people know they are in our thoughts, but it often doesn’t seem to go farther than that.
A great deal of those gifts are from around the world. United Way has over $2M donated thus far. People just want to do something. 20 6-7 yrs old massacred with 3-11 shots……are just overwhelming for many.
I agree with all that. But if it ends there, nothing changes.

just have to mention, here in my town, we have postal window hours from 9 to 10:30 a.m. only, and our mail is placed in our p.o. boxes by 3:30 p.m., no delivery service to homes or other boxes. period. that’s the service. and magazines arrive 2 to 3 weeks late, often a month late. in america, u.s.a., that’s our mail service. the news is, they’re planning to close our p.o. entirely, and we’ll have to drive to the next town over to get mail from the p.o. there. just sayin’.
Good morning Chips and TOD family. It is a very slow morning for me. We were out late last night with our son, his wife and several young kids. My son & daughter in law are both HS teachers. They always invite us to all their parties when young folks are around. I have such high hopes when I am around these young people. I do believe the next generation is in good hands. One of the young men there last night has a job in the State Department starting 1/1. He speaks Chinese and believe in service and the government. We had a great conversation. He loves this President and he belives that Senator Kerry will be a great SOS. I feel such hope and love when I am with these kids.

Good morning all. I am thrilled to have two of my three kids home for Christmas. My sister comes tonight from Canada, so we will have a full house. My tree is not decorated yet, but the kids say they will do it. I feel very behind this year and am trying not to stress out.
Usually when you’re stressed about this kind of stuff, you’re the only one who knows you didn’t meet your own self-imposed deadlines. Everyone else thinks everything is exactly the way you intended! It’s more fun to trim the tree together, anyway… Have fun!

I’m not sure if this group has been mentioned here, since Sandy Hook, but it’s new to me.
Watched a bit of Alex Witt’s show on MSNBC, earlier. In just a short interview, Shannon Watts, who’s the founder of “One Million Moms for Gun Control,” which is about seven days old, spoke succinctly and clearly on the NRA presence right now on the national scene. She asked something like why would we question the head of an organization, who’s working toward the proliferation of guns throughout America, for his suggestions on how to protect our children and control how we allow so many guns to get in the wrong hands. She also made reference to the fact that we don’t need a military presence on our streets or in our schools (this isn’t a third-world country), and we don’t need to arm teachers, and kids don’t need “bulletproof backpacks.” (That last part really got me.)
Anyway, I think her organization is only a week old, but she has a website and FB page up and a Twitter account, and maybe we (Moms and Dads) could help get this info out there, instead of wondering individually how to reinvent the wheel of progress on this topic.

Well, I feel scads better. Fever’s gone, body aches are gone, vomiting is gone, and I’m not camping out in the bathroom. Taking it easy today. Not how I wanted to being my Xmas staycation, but it could’ve been worse.
