Reuters: President Barack Obama takes his “fiscal-cliff” campaign to the home of a family in Northern Virginia on Thursday (1:35) to illustrate the impact of letting taxes go up on the middle class….
With about three weeks remaining before steep tax hikes and budget cuts that comprise the so-called fiscal cliff are set to begin, the White House said Obama would visit the home of a family that responded to a presidential Twitter request for real-life stories about the burden of a tax increase on the middle class.

Greg Sargent: Public opinion gives Dems all the leverage: Here’s another reason Republicans may have to accept the above way out: A new Quinnipiac poll finds that Americans are solidly on the side of Obama and Democrats in this battle. Voters say by 53-36 they trust Obama and Dems more than Republicans on the fiscal cliff mess. And by 51-43, voters say Republicans won’t make a “good faith effort” to cooperate with Obama on issues important to them.

Twitter meltdown of the week:
Politico’s Ben White was in a monster, well, huff because he wasn’t included in Huffington Post’s ’32 Economics Journalists You Should Be Following On Twitter’ list. But, instead of being sensible and ignoring the OUTRAGEOUS snub, what does he do? Yep, he whinged about it endlessly on Twitter.
The tweet above caused a good giggle – talk about revealing your politics. But then, he does work for Politico.

Late start, but finally: MooooOOOoooooOOOooorning! More news later.
GM folks. GM Chips.
Moooooooooooorning Amk. Morning everyone.
I listen to FLOTUS DNC speech last night and it was just as great as it was the night of September 4th.
I listened to it again a couple of weekends ago, and I felt the same. It was stunning – from beginning to end. It’s the same as when I listened to her South Africa speech – I must have listened to that about six times. She conveys her passion for the topic, and it feels even more sincere because she was a reluctant participant in this politics stuff, so she focuses on what she deeply cares about. And that comes through in her speeches. She’s quite remarkable, and has done the role of First Lady proud.
Gorgeous!
Morning itgurl!!!!!!!! Morning y’all!
Magical Michelle — her penultimate public moment (thus far)! Love her. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Good Morning Chips! Good Morning TOD!
I think this is my most favorite look. That dress was STUNNING and she looked fab in it. Or it looked fab with her wearing it.
Agree, so modern and stylish. Great use of color and of course she looked great. Morning everyone. 😉
GM AMK and congrats!…Great pics Chips!
GM robin.
Flotus looks stunning in that pic.
Juuuust great.

I’m getting that too, a pain in the butt!
Posting today is going to be fun. 🙂
Grrrrrrr. Hoping their maintenance won’t last too long, it usually doesn’t, but……..
I fixt it. That’ll another twenty.
I’ll pay ya as soon as I remember that bank account password 😕
I’ll take any petty cash lying around.
Here ya go:
email the penny to me.
🙂 Will do!!!
Speaking of twenty, it doesn’t look like PBO will hit that 4.5% winning margin. Much as I would have enjoyed losing that bet, methinks arrangements have to be made.
As soon as the blog tyrant forks out the eleventy bucks she owes me.
Also. Too. Counting is not over yet.
Thanks for the tip. Does it work for iPad? Sometimes my page goes blank and goes to my apps.
Morning Chips & TODs, and yes that’s a stunner picture of FLOTUS.
Good morning all. At work operating on very little sleep.
Good morning, TOD, from me, too. At home in retirementland, operating on very little sleep! (I think I have the better end of that deal.)
Hope you make it through your work day just fine, Gobrooklyn!
Good morning everyone and you too jo. Your mail box is closed.
Good Morning Chips and my TOD family. I wish you all a fantabulous day!
Good morning Betsy. It’s a great day in the neighborhood! Is that a tired old joke on TOD? 😉
Ben White is hilarious. He’s whining over a list put together by Huff Po? It’s the Huffington Post for crying out loud. The amount of good journalists they have can been counted on one hand and you’d still have fingers left. These journalists like Ben White, Dylan Byers, etc. really just show how petty and human they are when they fly off the handle on Twitter due to a perceived snub.
Did you ever see anything so petty and ridiculous, UT? Talk about embarrassing yourself!
Good morning! Good stuff!
Republicans wave the white flag
By Dana Milbank, Published: December 5
Speaker John Boehner emerged from his weekly huddle with House Republicans on Wednesday morning to take his place behind a mahogany lectern in front of a brown backdrop. The dark tones provided ideal camouflage for the deeply tanned speaker — as though he were trying to vanish into the background.
Who could blame him?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/dana-milbank-republicans-wave-the-white-flag/2012/12/05/24c3c45e-3f1d-11e2-bca3-aadc9b7e29c5_story.html?hpid=z2
Mornin’! Sometimes Dana Milbank is quite clever, as with the ” … as though he [Boehner] were trying to vanish into the background. Who could blame him?”
Or better or worse, I simply can’t take Dana Milbank…
There’s something incredibly small-minded and sadistic about him…in the most psychotic sense…
In the end he is nobody’s friend really and savors any opportunity to slander, incite, divide and inflict pain on others…

There’s something incredibly small-minded and sadistic about him…in the most psychotic sense…

I feel the same, Chi. He can be caustic, especially against PBO. Even though this article may be satisfying, I do not trust him.
I try to resist the urge to bite when reliably inconsistent and untrustworthy know-it-all’s in the media like Milbank attempt to jerk people around with their play every side games…
Chi, I can’t take him either…he is all of what you said and I will liar to that list. He wrote a nasty article about Ambassador Rice and then he was TV two weeks later singing her praises. When Goldie Taylor called him out on it, he said he never wrote anything negative about the Ambassador. I read the same article that Goldie Taylor read. When Keith Olberman (sp?) was sane he banded Milbank was his show.
The Justice department has said that in response to the Pot legalization in some states, if you are Federal property and caught smoking out you will be prosecuted.
Fair enough?
On federal property…
Hey, that’s a good compromise. Toke away people……but only in your homes and not on federal property.
I don’t have a dog in that hunt (not sure where I got that, either), but I thought it was a good compromise, too.
I’m with you, Jacqueline – I just can’t get excited over this battle. But, it’s a good compromise for those who care.
Good morning all.
A new Quinnipiac poll schools Washington, the Republicans and the media as to who has the support from the majority of Americans in the “fiscal cliff” standoff.
“Fifty-six percent of voters think Obama and Democrats will act in good faith during negotiations; 51 percent think congressional Republicans won’t.”

Sorry Chips. I don’t know how I missed that you already posted this in your roundup. That’s what I get for breaking my ‘No posting before coffee’ rule.
No worries FiredUp, I know that coffee-less feeling!!
Good West Coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family!
It’s a beautiful morning here in Los Angeles – have a great OBAMA day everyone 🙂
Morning GGaaaaaaaail, have a perfect day!
The Convention stunning dress and the Black long dress are just out of this world.
Lovely.
Wonderful post, as usual.
Good Morning all TODville Community participants around the world.
So no one remembers what happened a month ago ? / smh
Are you talking about the anniversary of the election or one of your duck jokes? 🙂
So where is the celebration ?
Later, hopefully!!
You forgot, dintcha?

spread the good news
His reason are hi-larious. All conservatives need to do is convinced the poor and unwashed that conservative policies are good for them.
DeMint hasn’t been able to sell his odious ideas to anyone outside of the conservative Rush-fueled bubble. But he’s gonna change that, yessirree.
His reasons are hi-larious. All conservatives need to do is convince the poor and unwashed that conservative policies are good for them.
DeMint hasn’t been able to sell his odious ideas to anyone outside of the conservative Rush-fueled bubble. But he’s gonna change that, yessirree.
I wonder if it was discovered that he was responsible for that Allan Greene (sp?) running against him in 2010?
That is an awesome News. DeMint could Not materialize a Waterloo for pres Obama and his hatred has forced him out of the senate. Yeah. if ONLY the Dems can make SC a more competitive state.
Yes, Amk…..on 11-06-12, exactly a Month today, 12-06-12, Pres Barack Obama was re-elected at POTUS for 4 more years.
Ironically, President Obama did much better in South Carolina (44.9%) than he did in Arkansas (36%) Clinton’s home state and a State that votes mostly Democratic for other offices otherwise…
Yes. SC has more AA. 33% or so. AR has about 23% or so. AR went TBGOPer for their state house.
If Clayburn(sp) would help build Dems in SC, instead of making it all about him and family, SC would go from Red to Blue in a nanosecond. Another state is MS and the other is GA. Those states should easily go back Blue if the Dems would get their acts together.
Arkansas would have been a good test of the much touted Bill Clinton campaigning and explaining stuff ability theory no…?
Being their popular son and multiple term Governor and all that good stuff…
The current Dem governor and so-called Dem Senator have been incredibly disrespectful of President Obama…
What always gets me about these Dems who turn on this President is how they fail to see that it says more about them than it does about him…
Because if they were truly respected by their specific electorate, there would be a rapport…and they would be able to speak up – and honestly – for a President who has done a lot for them and their families…
The fact that they can’t even broach the subject says a lot about them and their relationships with their communities…
Until Bill Clinton can go into his home state of Arkansas and do some of that explaining they say he’s very good at, I remain unimpressed…
Or is the racist crowd only to be tapped and aggressively marketed only when it directly serves ones purposes…
Fact is, he would have been wasting time in Arkansas. Bill Clinton is good, but he has his limits, I am sure both the Obama campaign and Bill realized that he could not deliver Arkansas so he went to the states that mattered. I am sure his schedule was worked out with the Obama campaign. He worked his heart out for President Obama in this campaign. I think there was a mutual respect from both men in this campaign. Let’s not let the media’s attention and other Democrats behaviour be an indictment against Bill.
“…Fact is, he would have been wasting time in Arkansas. Bill Clinton is good, but he has his limits…”
And why would that be…? His home state…beloved son of the soil and all that good stuff…
We aren’t talking Utah here…
This is a State where he was Governor and a State with a good number of “Democratic” held offices…
So what’s the problem…
By the way my opinions and observations are first hand and have absolutely nothing to do with “the media”…
And these pathetic attempts to excuse away and downplay the very obvious while insisting that our lying eyes and ears fail to accurately capture stuff that continues to play out before our very eyes, is not only maddeningly disingenuous, but insults the intelligence…
Tim Scott Is ‘DeMint’s Choice’ For Replacement
Sen. Jim DeMint (R) wants Rep. Tim Scott (R) to replace him in the Senate when he leaves the body next month, a South Carolina Republican official tells TPM.
The move would mean the Senate seat would still be held by a prominent tea partier, the source said, and would also give Haley and the GOP a chance to make history.
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/12/sc-gop-official-tim-scott-is-demints-choice-for-replacement.php?ref=fpb
I just thought about something. If Jeb Bush is running for President and he is all about immigration reform, will the Republicans block immigration reform to wait for Jeb Bush?
You know? Instead of allowing this President a victory?
No. John Ellis Bush, aka, JEB would not win in 2016. The TBGOPers would want Immigration reform…..well, at least the Dream Act done by 2014.
We know this, but in order to get the Hispanic vote, seems like a good issue for them to run on.
Just saying!
John Ellis!?! That was my Daddy’s name! This is not funny %(
Yes. That is his real name. They nicknamed him JEB for John Ellis Bush.
Then he goes and actually names his second son……Jeb Bush.
They have to do immigration reform before 2016 or they’re completely dead and irrelevant for another four years. It’s the ONLY change they intend to make and they think that will be enough.
I’m hearing from so many Latinos who are completely insulted that they would vote on that one and only issue. Anyone paying the least attention to polls of Latinos during the last election should know that jobs and health care are of paramount concern. They want affordable student loans, decent education, a robust SBA. Like their actual, middle class Americans. A concept lost on Republicans.
My prediction is that Republicans will have to do immigration reform and will do absolutely nothing else to appeal to the Democratic voting bloc.
The very public “strategizing” by the GOP on how to “win over” minorities next time around has been incredibly insulting to that demographic…
The idea that they think they can “con” Hispanics with the odd token gesture and “toned down” rhetoric – but unmoved in their prehistoric ideology and unchanged in their awful policies, is madness…
Discussing their “strategy” publicly with absolutely no regard for that target audience (not even the courtesy of doing so in Romney’s recommended “quiet rooms”), is not only galling, but supports the reputation of today’s GOP as a warped, debased mindset and a crowd deluded in its feelings of superiority, hankering after that ugliest of times in American history…
Good Morning, everyone! Chips, that picture of the four of them is super! Got my Bolicious WH Christmas card yesterday and it’s absolutely stunning! Quite a keepsake.
Have a lovely day, friends!!
Demint will now head heritage foundation.
He’s quitting the Senate? I’d rejoice….but we all know he’s going to be replaced by another nut job.
Haley’s Comet?
Hopefully not as nutty as him. This is shock for the teabaggers. I will take it,
Nikki Haley is just so unpopular in SC. I will not put it against her to self-appoint.
The person Nikki Haley appoints would NOT be as whacked as Jim DeMint, unless it is Joe Wilson. This is the best news today.
South Carolina will be selecting 2 Senators in 2014! Any possibility of one being a Dem?
We should try. Throw some mad money at it. Make the thugs quiver in their own backyard.
Yep, absolutely agree! That would be perfect.
Stephen Colbert!

OMG OMG OMG. Who’s breaking now? “Healthcare will be his Waterloo. We will break him,” said the vile DeMint. another chorus Who’s breaking now? Whose heart is aching? YAY OMG
Methinks Marky is still a little bitter:
As one reply said:
“not exactly accurate to compare day to day; Obama’s first budget wasn’t “passed” until October 2009″
And most of that debt due to the last administrations unpaid for tax cuts and two wars, still applying to todays debt.
Why, oh why must you post this empty colon? You ruined my morning coffee. 😦
Sorry Yardarm!! I just take an evil delight in the shill’s bitterness!
Whatevah.
The problem with the extension of the Bush tax cuts was that they were always going to explode the debt after the initial 10 years. It’s not a sexy soundbite but this fact has been totally ignored. Couple that with loss of revenue from the recession, and Republicans get a God damned soundbite.
Mark Knoller continues to deliberately misinform hoping to rile up the ignorant and those looking for a cover for their hate…
I would say shame on him, but Mark Knoller clearly lacks the ability to feel shame…
He’s the absolute dregs, Chi, the worst of shills. And he’s so rarely called out, Steve Benen – as usual – one of the few to do it:
http://maddowblog.msnbc.com/_news/2012/03/21/10793658-the-nature-of-debt-comparisons?lite
Thank God for Steve Benen Chip…
Mark Knoller seems to just exist at this point simply to tattle in the most warped and damaging way…
…inciting hate against the President by throwing out largely inconsequential data – but deliberately taken out of context – to whip up the frenzied demographic fixated on the false narratives like the no good President who only plays golf, takes expensive vacations and incurs debt by being wasteful and living on the hog with his family on taxpayer dime…
+ 1,000,000,000, Chi.
The golf thing is particularly ugly, even if it seems the most trivial, we know what he’s at with that, he reveals himself every time with the accompanying snark. I absolutely loathe him.
I would love to ask Knoller how much was the National Debt when George W. Bush took office?
He probably wasn’t counting so hard then Anniebella.
The Washington post rips the new silver line from Dulles Airport, opening end of 2014-
http://m.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dr-gridlock/wp/2012/12/05/silver-line-plan-will-give-some-riders-the-blues/
Nice hit piece on public transportation we had to fight for, even though it was in the recovery act.
Jim DeMint flashback to when he was thrilled at the opportunity to stop healthcare reform for millions of Americans:
“Senators and Congressmen will come back in September afraid to vote against the American people,” DeMint predicted, adding that “this health care issue Is D-Day for freedom in America.”
“If we’re able to stop Obama on this it will be his Waterloo. It will break him,” he said.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0709/Health_reform_foes_plan_Obamas_Waterloo.html
The President’s historic healthcare reform passed.
He was re-elected with an electoral vote landslide and is heading toward a solid 51% popular vote margin. He is likely to become the only U.S. President since Eisenhower to achieve that milestone.
While you Jim DeMint are headed out the door. You lost the heathcare reform battle. You’re losing Bush tax cut war. You party is going to lose the debt ceiling war.
What have we learned?
Do not mess with a President who does not cower and who has millions of supporters that have solidly got his back.
OH, sweet justice and GOOD RIDDANCE.
Didn’t one have to at least have some sort of intellectual credibility and resume (albeit right wingy) to lead this think tank…
Demint has one of the thinnest and most unimpressive academic resumes for anyone looking to lead a think tank of any sort…
This is funny…
Well in today’s TBGOPers, ideology trumps academic resumes. Gut over Medulla Oblangata.
Anyone know what’s going on with the discharge petition now that the House has gone home for a 5 day weekend? (I wish I could go home for a 5 day weekend, and make $100,000+ a year) but then I’m a public school teacher, an evil government blood-sucking taker so I should just be glad I have a job, right?
They have until December 24th to collect signatures. That’s when the original bill “ripens.”
Thanks so much Meta. It’s so frustrating not to find this info when you don’t have much time, so I am always glad to know I have the TOD family to let me know what’s going on. You are awesome!!!
AHHH Betsy…if you really want to live the good life and not work for it, you have to run for congress.
Decisions, decisions!!
😀
Hi Betsy,
Here’s the link:

178 have signed. They need 218.
#FORWARD
Thanks Bobfr!
Betsy, I think they make $175,000 a year. 😉
That’s way to much money for the GOP members of the House, since I know the Dems would stay and work like they did when Nancy P was Speaker of the HOuse. Oh I sure hope she will be again in 2014!!!
Hoping for successful 2014 too.
The teacher of the earth science class was lecturing on map reading.
After explaining about latitude, longitude, degrees and minutes the teacher asked, “Suppose I asked you to meet me for lunch at 23 degrees, 4 minutes north latitude and 45 degrees, 15 minutes east longitude?”
After a confused silence, a voice volunteered, “I guess you’d be eating alone.”
Good one!
If they are astrologists, they would know! And those of us who who spend time in county clerks office looking at land plats. I have a great joke to share. Be back soon…
Full of Hot Air
“A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, “Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don’t know where I am.”
The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, “You’re in a hot air balloon approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.”
She rolled her eyes and said, “You must be a Democrat.”
“I am,” replied the man. “How did you know?”
“Well,” answered the balloonist, “everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and I’m still lost. Frankly, you’ve not been much help to me.”
The man smiled and responded, “You must be a Republican.”
“I am,” replied the balloonist. “But how did you know?”
“Well,” said the man, “You don’t know where you are or where you’re going. You’ve risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You’ve made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and now you expect ME to solve your problem. You’re in EXACTLY the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now, it’s MY fault.””
🙂 good morning!
Hello, just after twelve here in WY. 😉
A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.
The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.
The little girl said, “When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah”. The teacher asked, “What if Jonah went to hell?”
The little girl replied, “Then you ask him”
Gunnite folks.
Boooooom! 😆 Nite you.
Also, When the President speaks about the Fiscal Cliff thingy, he has middle class People behind Him, talks to Governors and Mayors and business People.
When Boner speaks, he is so insecure, he brings with Him half of his Leadership, standing right behind him. Optics are all wrong.
Jay’s DPB about to begin: http://www.whitehouse.gov/live/
I hear DeMint is recommending Gov. Nikki Haley appoint Tim Scott as his replacement before the special election in 2014. Yup….another whackadoodle. They sure like ’em crazy.
Yes, but…but… “It would be historic” 🙂 Give me a break! Crazy is crazy! These folks refuse to have a relationship with reality.
G’M TOD. Chips you are the ‘bestest’. I missed out on everything yesterday while running around getting
stuff done. Then last night found all my goodies bundled into one thread. The Tom Joyner interview, which was just precious, PBO’s speech to the Business roundtable and his speech to the Native Americans. Those were all gems. Thank you mucho.
Good morning peeps! Great gettin’ goin’ day in TODville just one month post election. Love PBO’s new approval ratings. For anyone who is interested, the clip on CBS yesterday was from an one hour interview of Bob Gates by Charlie Rose. The full interview is now up on his website: http://www.charlierose.com/view/interview/12683
I haven’t watched the whole thing yet but it is interesting. His reason for deciding to retire was that he had become so attached to the troops that he no longer felt he could give PBO objective advice. Despite being a Repub, a decent man. He also says of the four presidents he’s been close to (Reagan, Bush I, Bush II and PBO) PBO may be the toughest. Awwww but he covers it with such charm!
Thanks!
This is a BIG DEAL! This is a clip of Bob Gates talking about our President 🙂
http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50136408n
Thanks for the link. Secretary Gates gave us great insight into Pres. Obama. I didn’t like the jab about not running anything though. Like saying a housewife doesn’t know how to run anything, when they run everything. 😉 They really don’t understand the importance of community organizing.
Whoa…..Pres. Obama needs an ass to kick? 😉
Isn’t he head of a banker’s association now?
401KKK…
That is so funny…
Yup!
I hope Ashley Judd decides to run against that lowlife Mitch McConnell, the people in Kentucky deserve better, and so do we.
http://twitter.com/HRC/statuses/276740535677485056
Apple is moving some production to US next year! http://www.theatlanticwire.com/technology/2012/12/apple-will-be-made-america-finally/59699/ Ir would be so nice to give the companies that move jobs here from overseas some sort of tax break, but once again the Repubs don’t seem to be much interested in that. But just perhaps as part of the anticipated tax reform next year.
Are any of you getting Facebook posts about Pres. Obama’s 20 day, $4 million vacation? I’m getting tired of them. But they’re friends. Just hiding them for now. Any good comebacks, suggestions?
With friends like that who needs enemies. De-friend them.
Precisely…
There’s just no excuse for that sort of inhuman petty hate directed at our first family…
This President has more than earned a vacation – I have no idea how he does it, I am exhausted from just reading his schedule…
I know, but they’re long time friends. 😦
Ask them since they are so full of important information how much did it cost the government for George W. Bush to vacation at his ranch in Texas.
and link them to this:

I’m going to post that on FB! 😉 Thanks.
Happy to help!
Do you think they would know??? 🙂
If they are such authorities on the cost of presidential vacations they should know. Tell them you need that information to analyze the situation and to put things into perspective.
They only think they are authorities…
Tell your facebook “friends” them that unless they make more than $500K per year, PBO pays more in taxes alone than their entire annual salary. His tax dollars goes towards everything THEY use from the roads they drive on to their garbage that gets collected 2x a week, to their public libraries in their towns, cities and neighbors.
As President of the United States, he’s entitled to the perks as well as the responsibilities – some of which are bad (like chronic sleep deprivation and accelerated aging), as has been the case for ALL Presidents.
Thanks.
I don’t seem to recall all the talk when the other Presidents and their families went on vacations. To me it just seem that regardless what it is this family does, some people will fine reasons to complain. Guess what? I don’t like for my tax dollars to be spent on wars. Wasn’t the right wingnuts complaining because there were 54 Christmas trees. I am so happy my friends agree with me, because I would let them know where I stand and if we are to remain friends it would be better to keep your mouth closed.
I hope POTUS, FLOTUS, the girls, and Bo go on vacation and I hope they have a restful, enjoyable, peaceful vacation.
I did whine, but didn’t have iPad, so it went nowhere. I love this blog. There are no trolls making really stupid remarks. Very refreshing.
Retweeted them all. Thanks.
Some of them are hubby’s brothers. He’s tried very hard to help them, but short of putting them in detox they are lost cause. Really silly too because two were in military, including hubby and they worked at govt jobs after that and retired with govt pensions. Now getting SS. Do you think it would be profitable to open a Republican detox center? 😉
Yes 🙂
For rehab to work one must admit they have a problem. That might be impossible for typical Republicans.
Well, if I keep them in WY, there vote won’t due much harm. 😉
Thanks to everyone for your comments. Is this the place to post letters I have posted on Facebook and to our paper, or is there a better forum for that? I just want a little feedback. I’m actually trying to convince them of their ignorance, not make enemies. Remember I’m in WY. And I was born and raised in SD. But I was under the influence of the great Sen. George McGovern. 😉
Post them here, we’d love to read them…
When I send letters to the media etc, I sometimes share them here…
You get feedback – and good advice for subsequent correspondence…
And you give ideas to others dealing with similar concerns…
Thanks. Just trying to follow house rules! 😉
They are a little long…
I’m sure Chip won’t mind…
It is understandably long for good reason…
Gave teeny, tiny contribution. Didn’t realize Axel had a child with epilepsy, but he really moved me on Real Time.
FLOTUS, PBO’s secret, or should say, not so secret weapon. I don’t remember when there has been such an outstanding role model for the young women of this country, the world. Family, friends who never paid any attention to politics sat up and listened because they were drawn in by FLOTUS. The things she does, the way she presents herself, no one, not one person in that group could come up with something negative, they fell in love with her.
Not sure if there’ll be any live coverage of PBO’s meeting with the Virginia family, but keep an eye on:

HELLO TOD!!
I’ve been really busy working on a big year end project here at work and haven’t had much time to post. Miss you all!!
Chips, you’re doing a hellava job on your random pics and videos.
Miss you too Donna, best of luck with the project, you can party with us when you’re done! Thanks for dropping in.
Hi All,
Reposting photos of FLOTUS htp://www.caslight.org/michelle.html Enjoy
Like those random pics Chip with all this goodies can you add one of those that a soldier shook the Presidents hand and did not want anybody to touch it that was so cool
Ah, I remember that Okey, it was great!
#FireBoehner – which lit up twitter yesterday evening – was launched, as you know, by House Teahadists. I think it’s likely we can find 17 Rs in the 113th to flip, for reasons posted here previously, mainly because they’d have a much better chance of cutting a deal with the DCCC to support them in 2014 and they’d look really sane by then to their constituents who’d be pleased with the improvements to our economy and more, because the House worked with instead of against the President and they would have been instrumental in that outcome.
New post everyone, back in a while:

Good lord. When you read this article about the alleged 20-day, $4 million Presidential vacation look at this gigantic caveat posted at the end of the article:
“The total cost (based on what is known) for a 20-day round trip vacation to Hawaii for the President and his family and staff and security is more than $4 million.
Hawaii Reporter annually has requested details on the cost of the President’s trip, but the White House will not release any figures, citing security concerns. A spokesperson has maintained the costs are “in line” with other presidential vacations.
Hawaii Reporter has sought to determine the cost of vacations for the current president and last two presidents but the Government Accountability Office referred Hawaii Reporter back to the White House spokesperson.”

Shorter: ‘While the President has alerted Hawaii of a 20-day window when a vacation MAY occur, there is NO CONFIRMATION that there will be a vacation that lasts 20 days or even if that it will happen in Hawaii.
Also we don’t know really how much the vacation will cost as we are pulling these numbers out of our nether regions.
We also mention in passing that the bulk of that number we concocted is attributed to fuel costs for Air Force one flying from DC to Hawaii-a 9-hour flight. (“Travel time for Air Force One direct from Washington D.C. to Hawaii is about 9 hours or as high as $1,635,813 each way for a total of $3,271,622.”)
In short, we’re bored graduates of the Mark Knoller School of Journalism and we’ve got nothing but the desire and will to stir some shit.”
This is not only pathetic but sad FiredupinCa…
And it really pisses me off…
This man has earned a bloody vacation and a healthy amount of decompressing time away from the madness, and to spend with his family, if he is to optimally perform in this intense role…
Chi, let me tell you that I agree with you 100%. This really pisses me off too.
Plus he is ON-CALL 24/7 even while on vacation. There is NO guarantee a catastrophy somewhere in the world won’t interupt his vacation time away from his family and as you so eloquently stated a healthy decompressing time away from the madness (GOP especially).
Right on!
