Whaddya mean it’s obvious this post was a rush job when it contains absolutely no news, only a few pics and videos. Well. 😕
Will catch up with the news in the morning. Promise. Ish.
What’s the matter with me, I don’t even ~want~ to be first. well, let’s see how this goes. xoxo
Sara!
Congrats, Sara!!
Congrats
Sara!!!!!
thank you, Chips. xoxo
Congrats anyways! 🙂
Congratulations Sara!!!! 🙂
Hey, number 2!
Er, 4!
Congrats on first Sara.
had to look him up–from wikipedia, which has much more:
‘ In a 2012 meeting of the House Natural Resources Committee, Gohmert stated his strong support of a trans-Alaskan pipeline, as a means for caribou to have more sex.[7][8][9]
According to Gohmert, “When [the caribou] want to go on a date, they invite each other to head over to the pipeline. So [his] real concern now [is] … if oil stops running through the pipeline … do we need a study to see how adversely the caribou would be affected if that warm oil ever quit flowing?” Gohmert’s comments were not favorably received by the rest of the committee; reportedly, Alaskan representative Don Young was forced to stifle his laughter in response.[10][11] ‘
This nut is nuttier than bat shit crazy bachmann.
LOL!!!
Well, obviously being as he is one.
Congrats on First Sara!!!
What was the name the Tribal Nations gave to PBO, before he was PBO? It was beautiful, but I can’t recall what it was.
Black Eagle, Pamela??

Oh, even more beautiful than I remembered! Thank you, dear Chipsticks~Eagle! 🙂
OUR NATIVE AMERICANS ARE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PART OF GOD’S RAINBOWS OF CREATION…I LOVE THEM TO PIECES! THIS IS THE ONLY PRESIDENT THAT HAS GIVEN THEM THE ATTENTION THEY DESERVE AND THEY DESERVE SO MUCH MORE…THEY WERE TREATED SO BADLY IN OUR HISTORY. GOD BLESS THEM ALL!
Yes, I agree. My 7 month-old grandson is half Native American Indian [Blackfeet and Tslingit]. Totally beautiful,
totally sturdy, and made for laughter. He’s my teacher, already.
He is called Black Eagle by the Crow Nation: “Awe Kooda bilaxpak Kuuxshish” or “one who helps people throughout the land”
I read about Bunky and his painting at the link. His depiction is one of the best of President Obama that I’ve seen; he brought out so beautifully the kind expression on Barack Obama’s face. The first time I saw Barack Obama and heard him speak, I prayed that he would consider running for president. I knew that if he ran, he would win. Black Eagle, one who helps people throughout the land. Lovely. And a dream come true.
He rang a bell for many of us. The first time I heard about him was a piece in the New Yorker. He sounded great but…a Black guy? President? It took the Iowa caucuses to persuade me not only was he serious but also that he could win. How glad I am that he’s President today.
Great ‘random’ pics and vids.
Also. Too. Promise.ish doesn’t cut it.
Helllllllo Amk! Ish.
Go to bed. Sheesh.
I will soon. Ish.
It’ll be soon noon.ish.

thinking of sending a christmas present to the first family? here’s some background:

Did President Obama get to keep the 50 pairs of boxer-briefs from David Beckham? They were likely over $350. What an interesting gift…
The pencil was my favorite…
I hope got to keep it…
Yes, I never even knew they made such fancy pencils. That one was lovely.
Very interesting. Some of the gifts are eyebrow raising. 😀

Magapie, that wins the award for the most enthusiastic hello EVER!!! 😆 OF course we missed ya!
Lova ya, Chips! I’ve been lurking lately as they say. But I always look at EVERY POST. This is such a warm and wonderful community!!
Hey you, love ya right back. It’s a highly lovely community. And then there’s Amk.
Hey !!!
Do we…………… Do we need to arrange an INTERVENTION????
I am beyond redemption. Even the devil has given up on me and sent me back to earth just to torture you.
Let’s go drink, then!!!
You buying ?
Oi. Since I updated my Firefox thingie I can’t see half the thingies in the posts here. What’s that all about, computery head?
whaddyamean I can’t see half the thingies in the posts here. What thingies? And how do you know they are there when you can’t see them?
Are we now imagining thingies, a la teabaggers?
Are you saying I’m hallucinating? (Sssh). Things I’ve posted suddenly go whooooosh …. you know, totally disappear. And there are big blanky bits in the posts, and I’m sitting here going “huh”.
Oh, you mean a snow job ? 🙂
Close the browser, run CCleaner to clear out the cache crap and re-enter the hell.
Snow joke, Amk, half my blog has disappeared before my googly eyes since my Firefox update – and I’ll have you know, Mister, it’s not snow-related. That CCleaner thingie, is that just for Windows freaks, or will it work for Mac-ers too?
for silly maccers
http://www.piriform.com/mac/ccleaner
You know, you can be highly nice – sometimes. Thank you Amk!!!
That’ll be twenty bucks. This is on top of the eleventy thousand you already owe me !!!
Do you have a beloved horse to slay by any chance ?
You’re way too generous, you.
Leave my horse alone, since I rented him out he has enough troubles with his nothing-to-do-these-days jockey:
LOL. That’s punishment enough for that poor horsey.
Exactly. He emailed me yesterday to say Willard drove him to the dressage arena on his car roof. “Yeah riiiiiiiight,” I replied.
Then he sent a pic.
PS I’m running CCleaner as we speak, if I’m not back for 15 days we’ll know who to blame.
Yay. It worked. You fell for it. Now the blog is mine.
Oh yeah? I’m back. But. I have been locked out of the interwebs for the last 10 minutes.
The good news?
I can see my posts again.
Wooooot!
The bad.
I’ve lost all my passwords, including, temporarily, the one for the blog, so I was like you in the morning, knocking plaintively on the door, hoping someone would let me in.
So, a half thanks to you, Mister.
And another thing: why is Twitter teeny for me now? 😕
Oh yeah. One other small thing. Before you run the cleaner, you need to go options/cookies and then move your important cookies to the rhs column ‘cookies to keep’. My bad.
Heading your way, buddy.
Ingrates.
wimmin/smh.
I can’t remember my bank account password either. Could you PayPal me a loan?
Jeebus woman. You keep your bank passwords on your browser !!!! Never ever do that.
😳 If I kept them anywhere else I’d, well, lose them 😳
No, you won’t. Create a word file and make a table of your all your logins and passwords. Then protect that file with a password (which you need to remember – use your pilot bf’s name – Don’t tell me you’ll forget that too sheesh). Then keep a copy of that file in another media like a thumb drive as a backup. Whenever you make changes to that file, then update your thumb drive copy too.
Ah, okay. Thanks Amk. Will do. (What’s my pilot’s bf’s name again?) Thanks!
amk
I would love to buy!!! (Several rounds for a REASONBLE number of TODers. 🙂 ) And NOT for reciprocation. I LOVE TO BUY DRINKS!
At the Inauguration?
Just email mine.
Crikey Amk, it’s not often I agree with you.
That’s my charm. At some point, every body has to agree with me. Yes, I take that many positions. 🙂
Willard? Is that you? 😯
You guys are cracking me up!!!!!!
OMG, that is insane.
Really, Ann did that. I want to laugh, but I won’t. I will show alittle compassion. 🙂
not me–i am shrieking with laughter here. do you think she’ll hire someone to return the stuff for a refund? job creating at last! 🙂
I will laugh top! Long and Loud and Clear! (like in Mary Poppins)! 😆 😆 😆
Meta, it really is astonishing how far removed from reality that woman is and was. Thank God we don’t have to deal with her in any way.
Oh my. Wonder if she can return them?
What is this world coming to???
Why do men fall in love at first sight?
It saves them a lot of time.
A wealthy man came home from a gambling trip and told his wife that he had lost their entire fortune and that they’d have to drastically alter their life-style.
“If you’ll just learn to cook,” he said, “we can fire the chef.”
“Okay,” she said. “And if you learn how to make love, we can fire the gardener.”
AMK is on a roll again tonight. We got five in a row last night!
Jackie, that man never stops rolling!!
I just finish listening to the fantastic speech the First Lady gave at the DNC in September.
Going to be on the Swinomish (the gentleman with the fascinating hat above) reservation on Friday. Very cold and wet there, but beautiful.
Bunch of Top Ten lists on Time. Best dressed #2 is the Obama women: http://style.time.com/2012/12/04/top-10-style-lists/slide/the-obama-women-on-election-night/
I clicked on a few more of the Top Ten, and found out that Queen Ann’s convention night dress was an Oscar de la Renta – the same character who has attacked Michelle Obama on a few occasions (from her “too casual” outfit to see the real Queen, to the fact that she hasn’t worn any of his clothes). Well, I’m sure Oscar de la Renta was hoping Queen Ann would bring him in to the White House, but I bet he can now rest assured that he won’t be getting an invitation from First Lady Michelle Obama any time soon.
David Letterman is in love with POTUS 🙂
Don’t tell Mrs. Letterman.
He is not alone, is he?
Nope. He’s gotta in line with the other gazillion people.

Good evening all. Thought I’d see what’s up lately, besides the cliff, slope, hill whatever.
Hope you all are well.
Is it just me, or did anyone else experience having to log back into everything after updating to Firefox 17?
Can’t use Firefox al all. corrupted some of my files. -:(
‘it’ hasn’t offered me its update yet… 😦
About time to start cutting this bloated defense budget.

Hey, it’s a good post – news or no news!
Excellent. Fuck this libertarian fucktard. Now you know what a good gobinment means, you tax-dodge.
he’s a total whackaloon. Thought his money meant he could lord it over “third world” nations.
Yup. And I do think he killed his neighbor.
Seems that there are consequences for tax evasion
should have said “unexpected consequences”
That’s cold blooded, cruel and true!
A bit too cute for Rusty Boehner, though, Yardarm. I hope the kid’s parents don’t sue me 😕
Boehner has never been, nor will ever be that cute. That baby is totally on a love exchange with the Prez. They are in a zone and they both know it!
Hahaha! Letterman: “You are a very attractive man!” Poor Dave. I would probably blurt out something equally inappropriate. 😀
I really enjoy the Michelle Obama…..The Rock of our Family video, and the winds of change is blowing wild and free, I like that one too. And the competely random pics of the First Couple are sexy and nice.

Thank you Libra, edited to post the video!
Let me just say, as an admiring older married male (39 years), what a perfectly lovely First Lady we have. The photo above of her embrace of the POTUS displays an upper back and shoulders that takes my breath away.
Nothing wrong with admiring beauty, Bill. Although, 39 hardly qualifies as “older”…
Wow Bill R, You really think 39 is old? I am almost twice you age and I still admire FLOTUS’ beauty, grace and intellect.
Hahahaha….no…Bill meant he’s been married for 39 years.
I’m 64, married 39 years.
You have an excellent eye for beauty. Congratulations on 39 years of marriage!
Some holiday beer brewing.
Ok, I’ve had a horrendous culinary night. Our favorite local Indian joint, unbeknownst to us, changed hands. It’s now a Pakistani restaurant, same name. Now, we love Pakistani food as well. But of course they have a new cook. Oh.My.God. Dinner was atrocious. We couldn’t finish it, it was that bad. We called back, and that’s how we found out about the changes. Awful. We checked Yelp, and there was a review on there from yesterday bemoaning the changes. When a Pakistani or Indian restaurant can’t make a decent chicken tikka masala, it’s not going to last long.
Of course, I blame amk.
I’M BAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone home???????????????? My ass is sore from sitting on a plane for 4 hours straight, and that was just ONE plane ride today:) To make matters worse, I had to set the teabagger straight that sat next to me on that 4 hour ride tonight!! Dear God, REALLY???? Why me? Is it because I have a big mouth I can’t keep shut? I made the man’s head spin….told him things he had no idea about….and told him to lay off the liars on the radio that he listens to everyday for his daily dose of BS propaganda. I was pointed, yet civil. Our work is never done, is it?
I missed my TOD family. The parentals have no internet….it was a long 5 days….I think I’m a little shaky…..stupid me,said that I would be back to work tomorrow…what was I thinking? I should have taken another day just to recuperate an get caught up here:) Good to be back. Oh…and I had that Key Lime Pie:)
DF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome home!!!! Sheesh, just as I’m going to bed 🙄 Not sure whether to laugh or cry at you having to sit beside a Teabagger on your flight …. okay, I’m laughing. Great to see ya, we missed you!!! Catch up tomorrow, gotta go sleep!
I hear you, Missy on that bedtime, tired thing:) Pretty wiped myself, but have to peruse the webs just a little bit….I missed SO much news! Night, night…see you in the am! Yes…laugh at the teabagger….it was funny:)
First, welcome back to “reality” desertflower! Second, breathe …. as my therapist husband would say. And then catch up, rejoice, forget the teabagger and just stick with TOD …it will get you there!
Thank you, daisydem:) Nice to be home again…in all senses of the word!
Welcome back df. Good of you set right one teabagger. Let’s hope for a ripple effect.
Why thank you, amk! Good to BE back:) One is not enough…I hope I got to curious enough to fact check that heaping dose of BS the RWNJ’s on the radio served him everyday! He had ALL the talking points down….gas prices, auto bailout, federal spending BALLOONING under PBO, drilling,…..let’s not forget those college transcripts! I literally looked him right in the eyes and said, “Are you fucking kidding me!!!????” I think I shocked him…..
so….. the pie…? details, please! 🙂
Excellent Key Lime Pie…though I do like my crust a little crunchier: I love that pie! And Birthday cake! Great cake with raspberry stuff inside for my dad’s 80th…devine!
mmmmm! glad you made it home safely, and with those wonderful memories–the pie and the birthday! 🙂
It was fabulous!
Welcome back, df! You survived the TOD withdrawals! I hope you had a lovely time with your family. Good job with the tea bagger.
I did survive, but it wasn’t easy! Had a great time with my family, my dad was thrilled to have all his kids with him AND his grandson….I totally enjoyed myself. More BEACH please! Thanks, theo:)
🙂
Welcome home df and hope you do not have too stressful a day at work, tomorrow.
Welcome back df, how we’re your parents? I hope all went well.
So much for a new person to watch. Having fun… 😉
yikes–nyt reports u.s. weapons diverted to jihadists in libya
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/06/world/africa/weapons-sent-to-libyan-rebels-with-us-approval-fell-into-islamist-hands.html?ref=global-home
Ouch, the republicans will jump on this like dogs on red meat. This is ten times, a hundred times bigger than “Fast and Furious”.
When President Obama talks about having to make decisions between bad and worse, this is the perfect example. When rebels are begging for help, can you say no and create a backlash of hate that will take decades to repair ? And when you say yes, how do you proceed when the rebellion is struggling and you can’t send troops on the ground ? Can you allow the rebellion to be crushed? Of course not. So you end up with very imperfect and risky solutions…
One thing that is very important to note: the NYT doesn’t give numbers. What percentage of the arms went to extremist groups ? Is it 10%, 20%, 50% , or more ?? Because the consequences, and the political fallout, are not the same.
Of course, the republicans will treat this story as if 100% of the arms went to the extremists… The emoprogs will do the same. This is going to be demagogued big time, and say goodbye to the 53% approval number for POTUS.
Mclame was the main one saying to arms the rebellion so I don’t thank this will hurt Obama that much.
Because you know they said he was leading from behind, and yelling for him to arms the rebellion.
gov brewery punches reporter who asks her about climate change (hufpo, but still… 🙂 )
Days before Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) slipped out of her state on an unannounced weeklong work trip — reportedly to Afghanistan — she punched a reporter for asking a question about climate change, one news photographer claimed in an email to Jim Romenesko.
~
“Brewer took her left hand, balled it into a fist and with the back of her hand she slugged the reporter on the back of his right arm,” Claweson wrote in an email to Jim Romenesko. “Not hard, but with enough force that he spun around to see what was going on.” ‘
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/05/jan-brewer-reporter_n_2247350.html
She’s lost her mind – I saw this headline earlier today, and thought it was a spoof! And, what the heck is she doing in Afghanistan? Can’t the State department stop these troublemakers from going on these publicity tours when the troops are busy fighting for their lives?
We don’t want her here. I think she should stay.
You make a good point.
there’s a photo with her and mc lame next to a chopper, and someone in uniform. maybe an assignation??!! 🙂
I think the picture is from a different event back in November – it’s the only picture I’ve seen so far. In any case, both of them have no real business being in Afghanistan, when they’re busy destroying freedom at home.
i find it suspicious that gov brewery would make a ‘secret’ trip to afghanistan–she’d surely want to pump all the publicity from it she could. maybe she’s bringing back poppy juice? or there’s a cheap plastic surgeon she’s heard about….
Anyone think she is exploring the idea of running for POTUS in 2016? Familiarizing herself with Afghanistan and upping her foreign affairs knowledge maybe for the run? She could be hilarious as a candidate on parr with Michelle Bacnman only possibly worse in that she has MANY senior moments where she cannot remember what she is talking about.
I hope the GOP (and the media) can start to take the process more seriously from now on. Running someone who is so clearly and obviously unstable and craven would just make another circus, avoiding the discussion of serious topics that this country will certainly need – and that might be their objective. Run through the primaries without any serious policy discussions and then enter the general election with nobody any wiser about their dubious and deviant plans.
I’m off to bed…long day. See you all bright and early………………
here’s a lovely idea from nate silver: alaska as swing state!
‘ The state where Barack Obama most improved his performance from 2008 was Alaska. He lost it by “only” 14 percentage points this year, considerably less than his 22-point margin of defeat in 2008.
Part of the reason is that the former governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, was on the Republican ticket in 2008 but was not this year. That probably doesn’t explain all of the shift, however.
Consider that in 2000 — also without Ms. Palin on the ballot — the Democratic nominee, Al Gore, lost Alaska by 31 points.
There are reasons to think that Alaska could continue to become more competitive in the coming years. ‘
http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/12/05/alaska-future-swing-state/
🙂
May be dumb question, but why is the print on tweet repostings so teeny tiny now?
They appear in normal size for me in firefox. What’s your browser ?
Same. First noticed the change last night. Maybe it’s the snow’s fault. 🙂
lemme guess, overpriced apple crap, amirite? 🙂
Have you ever owned or used Apple products?
Yup. I have an ipad, ipod & mini ipod and junked them all in a day. Overpriced, pretentious crap. There are much better and cheaper alternatives out there.
Next?
Hi Dotster3, I had the same problem yesterday, with my Mac using Firefox, but it stopped after I refreshed a few times. Weird!
Oh thanks—-that did the trick. Wonder why I didn’t think of that? I’m usually so bright. 🙂 The snow really messed with me.
I have that problem periodically. I’m hoping the upgrade to 17 fixes it. I use Ctrl + to make print bigger when it messes stuff up.
Finally Russia is willing to at least listen to reason. Syria is threatening to load up Sarin which is a deadly chemical nerve gas and use it against their people on the order of Assad. This is insane.
The Senate passed a sweeping overhaul on Tuesday of the U.S. government’s wartime contracting procedures, the largest such reform in decades. Sen. Claire McCaskill’s (D-Mo.) amendment, included in the national defense bill, is aimed at improving oversight and cracking down on the rampant waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars in contracting practices.
“While these wars wind down, we can’t lose the urgency to correct these mistakes and prevent them from being repeated in the future,” said McCaskill in a statement. “Protecting taxpayer dollars isn’t the flashiest issue. But it’s a promise I made to Missourians, and it’s something I pledge to continue fighting for, with dogged determination, until this legislation is signed into law.”
Wartime contracting was not the headline issue in McCaskill’s recent Senate race, where she spoke out on the reproductive rights of women after her opponent, Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.), made his infamous remark about “legitimate rape.” But the topic is near and dear to the heart of McCaskill, who was previously Missouri state auditor.
McCaskill has been leading a six-year effort to crack down on wartime contracting abuses. For example, there was the $345 million spent on health centers in Iraq that went largely unused. There was also the $300 million the United States spent on building the Tarakhil Power Plant in Afghanistan, without considering whether the country would be able to afford the expensive fuel to run the plant.
Good for McCaskill. This is long overdue.
this is hilarious, but also deeply weird. who are these people?
Morning everyone. Hope this bill also addresses banning of companies such as Blackwater for such abuses.
just the opposite:
‘ U.S. Special Operations Forces have a brand new home in Afghanistan. It’s owned and operated by the security company formerly known as Blackwater, thanks to a no-bid deal worth $22 million.
You might think that Blackwater, now called Academi, was banished into some bureaucratic exile after its operatives in Afghanistan stole guns from U.S. weapons depots and killed Afghan civilians. Wrong. Academi’s private 10-acre compound outside Kabul, called Camp Integrity, is the new headquarters for perhaps the most important special operations unit in Afghanistan.
That would be the Special Operations Joint Task Force–Afghanistan, created on July 1 to unite and oversee the three major spec-ops “tribes” throughout Afghanistan, which command some 7,000 elite troops in all. It’s run by Army Maj. Gen. Raymond “Tony” Thomas, a former deputy commander of the Joint Special Operations Command, and is already tasked with reforming how those elite forces train Afghan villagers to fight the Taliban. And its role is only going to grow in Afghanistan, as regular U.S. forces withdraw by 2014 and the commandos take over the residual task of fighting al-Qaida and its allies. Perhaps that’s why Academi’s no-bid contract runs through May 2015. ‘

Americans voters trust President Obama and Democrats to avoid the fiscal cliff by a wide margin of 53 percent to 36 percent, a Quinnipiac University poll out Thursday finds, providing further evidence that Democrats have the upper hand politically as debt-deal negotiations continue.
///
The poll also gave Obama his best approval rating in three years, 53 percent to 40 percent.
Another poll. YUKE. I got so darn tired of those things during the election. I mean darn tired of them.
“Texas Gov. Rick Perry says he’s taking steps to run for president in 2016. In fact, this week he’s meeting with donors. He better hope they’re brain donors.” –Jay Leno
“Since losing the election, Mitt Romney is reportedly bored. After hearing this, Ann Romney said, ‘You’re bored? I’m sitting around all day with Mitt Romney.'” –Conan O’Brien
“A lot of dissension among conservatives. One of the leaders of the Tea Party has resigned after a major split in the movement. The Tea Party is now divided between angry whites and even angrier whites.” –Conan O’Brien
“Mitt Romney of course lost the election. Think about it this way. One day you’re the Republican candidate running for president of the United States, and the next day you’re sitting in Applebee’s blowing on your soup.” –David Letterman
“Mitt Romney has a new job. He’s going back to work. He got a job at a Marriott. When you’re at the front desk arguing over your mini bar bill, Mitt will be the guy that comes from out back and says, ‘I understand there’s some trouble?'” –David Letterman
Good Morning Ms. Chips. I adore the black and white photo of POTUS and FLOTUS in the elevator. I pray when I marry my husband and I look that content and so into each other. Every time I see that picture my heart races and I get a warm glow. TMI? TMI?
OOPS.. doorway, not elevator and p.s. I could stare at it for hours.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) fierce resistance to reforming the filibuster isn’t fazing Harry Reid, who insists that he will weaken the minority party’s power to obstruct legislative business with Republican support or without it.
“There are discussions going on now, but I want to tell everybody here: I’m happy, I’ve had a number of Republicans come to me and a few Democrats,” the Democratic majority leader told reporters Tuesday afternoon. “We’re going to change the rules. We cannot continue in this way. So I hope we can get something Republicans will work with us on.
“But it won’t be a handshake,” Reid added. “We tried that last time; it didn’t work.”
From the bottom of my heart I wish Senator Harry Reid all the best of luck. Mitch McConnell is a nasty S.O.B.
amen!
Good morning folks,
I am not very tech savy and there is a website that I know that you would all love very much so I am going to type the address and hope that someone will do the needful and bring it on to the blog for everyone to see. It is http://www.caslight.org/michelle.html
