Rise and Shine: Four More Trees (Five actually, thank you Bob )

11:0 ET: Michelle Obama receives the official White House Christmas Tree at the North Portico. This year’s tree is a 19-foot Fraser Fir from Jefferson, North Carolina. It will be displayed throughout the holiday season in the Blue Room.

Mooooooorning everyone! Oi, what do you mean I must have struggled so badly to come up with a Rise and Shine today that I had to fill it with random trees and other Christmassy things – in November – simply because the Christmas tree is arriving at the White House today? Well….. 😕

A very ‘Good Morning’ to you, Chips Chica! 😆

It’s encouraging to know that when the mayoress eats too much AND celebrates too much the only downside is that she starts to count the trees! I can handle that much better that I can handle those who, under the influence, throw stuff and run. After all counting them, same as liking their height, does not in any way harm them. (Please note that I’m not calling any names of those who disturb the environment by throwing and running, so as not to embarrass anyone, especially when they are ‘sober’.)

Have a wonderful day TODobots, ALL!

I have to say though that I’m getting a wee bit nervous of people using words like ‘kind’ etc. to describe me. You all contribute to my confusion about who I am when you do that…..so ..stop it, TODville!

You’ve totally got to check this out guys. Pictures of Pres. Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Craig Robinson and the Oregon State basketball team during Thanksgiving. They all had Thanksgiving dinner together and the OSU team joined the First Family in their service event.

“Fifteen players from the Oregon State University men’s basketball team were also at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to celebrate with the First Family; their head coach is Craig Robinson, brother to First Lady Michelle Obama. During their visit, the Beavers, clad in orange dress sweat suits, had a tour of the White House, shot hoops on the basketball court, and met with President Obama in the Oval Office. They joined the First Family for a visit to a DC-area food bank on Wednesday afternoon, too.”

“To be able to come out here and get some quality time working hard on a service project and then actually having a meal at the White House was really special,” Robinson said in an interview with Oregon State’s Official Athletic Site, which posted the behind-the-scenes photos published here.” It was really nice to share my Oregon State family with my real family and vice versa,” Robinson said.

These pictures of the family from Christmases past are fun to see. I noticed that my favorite SS man….the one I call the silver fox, with the gray hair and gray beard, is in the tree lighting picture from 2009, and his hair is not nearly as gray as it is now. He and the president have grayed about the same over the past three years. Good to see he has been with the president these past years. HZ, I think he is the one you think is particularly fine, too.

Hi Carolyn. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Yes, I have an eye for our favorite SS detail man. I think he is rather fine. There is something that is special about him. Although, I am so elated to know that he is right there with our POTUS.

And I, hoping to be in the running…. Mmm. I am guessing he felt it more distinctive to leave off the Grecian formula (Fu myth) and age gracefully with our handsome PBO! I just do like it when this man is with our Preezy, btw, do we have a name, or is he just known to us as the silver fox? 😉

Be Thankful Barack Obama Is President During Latest Gaza Crisis

    by Tommy Christopher

Those are the choices: go to war, or just throw in the towel. “Hope” for change, but know that it won’t change. These are fine opinions for the loudmouth at your corner bar to hold, but as recent events make clear, they disqualify you from being President of the United States. Foreign policy wasn’t supposed to matter in this election, and it largely didn’t, so when this video of Romney’s off-the-record remarks to a group of donors surfaced, this portion was barely noticed. Just two weeks later, though, its importance is self-evident. Whatever you think of President Obama, it’s clear that Mitt Romney was never up to the job of replacing him.

As quickly as Republicans are trying to run away from Mitt Romney now, he was their guy, and he was the best possible candidate to emerge from their musical chairs primary. Over the next four years, voters should plug Mitt Romney into national and world events, and judge Republicans for having supported him. They should also judge a national media that largely ignored this disqualifying episode.

5 Things To Tell Your Republican Relatives At Thanksgiving Dinner

    1. In the past three years, the deficit has fallen faster than in any three-year stretch since World War II.

    2. The U.S. recovery has been one of the best in the world.

    3. The GOP is the food-stamp party.

    4. Ronald Reagan socialized medicine in the United States.

    5. America creates more jobs when a Democrat is in the White House.

Get the details on each here……

edwina3, But doing the election these Republicans tried to tell us that they don’t have a war with women. For that stupid bitter old man John McCain to call Susan Rice no qualified and not smart enough, that coming from the man who chose Sarah Palin as his VP candidate, speaks volume of McCain intelligence. When people look by at history, they will ask the same question everyone else asked, what the hell was John McCain thinking of? That will go down in history as a stupid decision by a mean old bitter old fool.

To all you blowhards (Amk and Chips) who mock Chelsea, I’d just like to point out that “he who laughs last laughs best.” Keep mocking Chelsea because of Rafa and I’ll keep smiling here.

Need I remind certain people who support losing teams ( cough; Chips and Man U and Amk and any team he supports that isn’t Chelsea) that last week you mocked Chelsea and what happened? Manchester United (The suckiest team ever) lost 0-1 to Norwich. Then, you mocked Chelsea again earlier in the week and what happened? Manchester United lost 0-1 to Galatasaray.

Notice a pattern here? Please….do keep on mocking Chelsea and we’ll laugh our way to another championship. Remember last season?

              November 23, 2012 at 10:34 am

Don’t ever listen to Chips, anniebella. She talks trash. Chelsea is the BEST team in the league and Manchester United is pure unadulterated TRASH. They have a player called Wayne Rooney who wears a squirrel on his head and calls it “hair.” He’s a huge pompous git and not talented.

Chelsea is the best. We’re the current champions in the FA and UEFA. Manchester United has lost their last two games and will continue to lose more because Chipsticks refuses to stop blindly mocking Chelsea.

People who back Manchester United are L-O-S-E-R-S, their owners are rich fat cat losers, their coach is a relic from the dark ages and is U-G-L-Y and not sportsmanlike, and Manchester United greases the palms of referees so they can cheat and win games. They cheated in their last game with Chelsea and were roundly criticized.

Bottom line – Chelsea rules, Manchester United sucks big time.

              • November 23, 2012 at 10:38 am

Inspiring account from a Dish reader of an 81 yr old, life long Republican man who switched to Obama:

“My 81-year-old father, a retired Marine and lifelong straight-ticket Republican, has gone through an amazing shift over the last four years. When McCain had named Palin as his running mate, my dad defended the choice because she “was a fighter and everyone underestimates her”. Four years ago he quaked in his boots and railed against Obama, who “was going to take everybody’s guns away” and was responsible for the shortage in ammunition (part of the plot to take away guns was his plan to remove ammo from the store shelves). Obama didn’t have the experience to end the wars. Obama wouldn’t be able to deal with the economy. Our country was going to hell in a handbasket with that man in charge.

This election? Straight-ticket Democratic voter and big contributor to both Obama’s campaign and Claire McCaskill’s senatorial campaign against Todd Akin. As we would drive by homes where Akin or Romney yard signs were displayed, he’d say, “There’s a lot of crazy people in this neighborhood”. A month ago my mother called me, worried that my father had become too militantly Democratic and wished he would settle down just a little bit in his zeal. We can sit down as a family and intelligently discuss politics, and I can’t express how wonderful it is to share this with him for the first time in my life.

To what do we attribute this change? I believe it started with having multiple children, grandchildren and in-laws who didn’t have health insurance due to self-employment and the difficulty with getting an individual policy.
