Well if POTUS is monitoring this site, I want it on record that I questioned your wisdom in posting such a hot photo of HIS Michelle. You’re on your own Chipsticks 🙂
😆 I noticed how the TOD chaps went for a long walk during that hysteria, and very nervously returned, like swimmers dipping their toes in the water, hoping the sharks had moved on.
Love this photo. It was at that organic garden at some girl school in Brazil? was it? It looked like a beautiful place for they young women to grow in. It seemed very nurturing.
This is what I like about their trips over seas. They always visit with the common, often struggling, folk who are turning their lots in life around. Even while they participate in the pageantry and opulence of the upper echelon.
It’s wonderful to be alive in the time of ‘the Obamas’
The primary reason I developed an interest in US politics was because of my work in international development. I work in developing and under-resourced countries. My particular specialty is HIV, Malaria and TB programs, and many of my colleagues work in food security and emergency response in the more volatile places. Those of us who work in international development are keenly aware of the impact of US domestic and foreign policy on the rest of the world, developing countries in particular. It is true that all the G8 countries provide development aid, and for that we are thankful. It would be remiss, though, not to acknowledge that the largest single contributor to development aid is the United States government and Foundations. For us the real and immediate outcomes of certain decisions mean fewer medicines available for HIV and TB and Malaria. A Conservative anti-family planning Administration may mean gag order gets reinstated and countries getting aid for reproductive health in poor communities can only do so if they agree to an abstinence only program.
I say the above as context for the Thanks I offer via TOD:
Thank you, America, for electing a President who extends his belief that we are our brother’s keeper beyond the shores of his own country. A President who (I feel in my heart) genuinely does not believe that other Nations have to fall for his own to retain its superior place in the world. My words above may sound like we are grateful only for what we can get; on the contrary most communities and countries who seek aid don’t just want handouts, they need a hand UP, and this President gets that.
Thank you, American Taxpayers. I know there are many who question the reasoning of money that goes to foreign aid when there are so many in need in your own country. It is your right to do so, but never question the good it does. The people who gain education, medicines, care and treatment, clean water and sanitation because of development assistance are incredibly grateful…and in some cases alive…because of you.
Thank you, Chips, for creating this Global Space for us to gather in and being an Oasis in the desert of information.
Finally, thank you, TODers, for sharing your wit and wisdom, humor and smarts, passion and commitment in equal parts.
Firstly, thank you for your dedication to others in the truest sense of ‘we are our brother’s keeper’!
Beyond that, your message is inspirational and an acknowledgement of the great value a ‘community,’ such as the one Chips has created, does contribute to our shared humanity. The more connected we are, through not merely technology and information, but a persistent, palpable spirit of empathy for one another, the more hope we all can experience that, yes we can, change the quality of life for everyone.
Beverly, thanks so much for your efforts and your message. It is so great to hear the real good that the aid accomplishes. In my younger days, pre-parenting, I worked with some churches in empowering women in Tanzania. We specifically raised money for equipment (seed presses) they requested that would allow them to provide for their families. This was back in the 80’s at the height of the AIDS crisis when so many adults in families were dying. It was one of the most rewarding endeavors I ever worked with. Bless you for your work.
Upon closer inspection, I notice the way the SHIRT falls on POTUS and then it hit me – he has on a bullet-proof vest under the shirt and it stops at his waist – that’s why he looks like he has a stomach pouch.
PBO is definitely wearing a bullet proof vest in the scene where he is bending over talking to the children and in THAT SHIRT. If he had a paunch, it would go from his chest to his lower abdomen. I think they made the jacket to fit without the bullet proof vest. If you look at the pic of PBO sitting in THAT SHIRT with his back showing, you can sort of see the the extra thickness at the top. To me, he is definitely wearing a BPV.
Obviously, it would be a good thing, but I just don’t like thinking about it. Can’t help but worry, although I try to put it out of my mind – as he has to do each and every day.
CSPAN: AN INFORMATIVE AND BRUTALLY HONEST 2012 ELECTION RECAP (David Plouffe and Steve Schmidt)
—————————
Washington, DC – Wednesday, November 14, 2012
Chief strategists for the McCain and Obama campaigns in 2008 discuss the outcome of the 2012 campaign at the University of Delaware Center for Political Communication.
David Plouffe, senior adviser to President Obama and 2008 Obama campaign manager, and Steve Schmidt, McCain 2008 chief strategist, join Ralph Begleiter, University of Delaware Center for political communication director and former CNN correspondent, for a discussion on the aftermath of the 2012 election.
This is a long presentation about an hour and a half with question and answer segment at the end. If you don’t have time to listen to the entire broadcast, try to listen to the first 30 minutes. I especially found Steve Schmidt’s analysis of the problems with his party very refreshing. I don’t expect anyone in the party to listen to him, but he says what needs to be said about the damage the loons and wackos are doing to the GOP.
I watched it live Ladyhawke & thought it was a Steve Schmidt never seen before. Even on MSNBC he had been protecting himself & party – but in this discussion he seems to have accepted how wrong the GOP has been to accept the loons and wackos and their policies.
President Obama weaved a lot of little zingers in his “Turkey speech”. He said he is bestowing another “gift” and said that Nate Silver nailed the winner again! LOL!!!!!
Malia was not gonna touch that Turkey! hahahahaha!!!!!
I got a kick out of how he made it akin to the elections. I was expecting him to say something about the turkeys NOT losing this time. Which he seemed to start to then steered away.
I can’t believe he looked so fresh and awake and in the moment with the turkeys and at the pantry.
I’d be sleeping for 2 days after the trip he just took. Maybe he really is the son of Zeron or whomever from the planet Whatjamacallit. 😆
What does it mean when a 60-something heterosexual woman logs onto TOD, sees the picture of FLOTUS and goes whoo hoo hot, hot, hot? BTW, could someone relay to LL that I am working on my 2nd Manhattan.
Oh, I laughed reading that, because I kinda felt the same way! What a beautiful face she has. I think we just deeply appreciate her total beauty, inside and out.
Would like to help with your message relay request for LL but … uh … not with this wine fog I have goin’ on. Maybe somebody else will help. Ha!
I’m going to have a glass of Chardonnay myself with my wild salmon sandwich ordered from a local deli; delivery imminent. Just wanted LL to know that Manhattans are not totally his to imbibe, I love them too.
btw jacque, that is it totally, we do appreciate her beauty inside and out, her warmth and grace, and oh my gosh, the way they both love to hug (I am a hugger too) it is amazing. So it is not just the physical good looks we are responding to … it is what we glean from within both of them. And it is genuine.
So I’m assuming car elevator dog on roof guy is in NY/NJ helping out there amirite? Seeing as how he was so concerned before the election and held a ‘sandy relief’ rally in Ohio and even got a picture taken carrying a flat of campbell soup from table A to table B. As for Ryan, he must be washing dishes at some charity outfit somewhere rrright?
what’s actually disgusting is that the msm does not call them out on this. hey, msm, you reported it as fact when these the guys insisted government was not needed for social programs to function, because faith-based groups would do the job better and cheaper (cheaper because it doesn’t cost the rethugs anything). this would be the perfect moment for the rethugs to demonstrate that was not just a bunch of lies they told to trick the voters. and a perfect moment for the msm to show how community programs, paid with tax dollars, are making a difference. still watching and waiting……
The little political stuff I watched today was just ludicrous. I’m only hoping that President Obama and his team sit around and laugh at the whining crybabies who are in such a wretched state because he won re-election. Further cause for all of us to laugh our freakin’ heads off, and be extra thankful on Thanksgiving this year! Happy Thanksgiving to you, Bob!
I watched a lovely lady on MorningJoe today – took Joe completely down about small business. She said they wanted the ACA & they were NOT upset about the new tax levels for the 2%. She told Joe that all his talking points were wrong/misinformation and very politely explained what was happening in the world of small business. She also described the latter very well – businesses with under 500 employees – they employ 60% of US workers – no wonder trickle down doesn’t work! She also said small businesses are like families and support all their workers and want them to do well.
Sorry I missed that. Love it when small business owners show up and tell the truth. People like Joe just open their mouths without real facts. Which is unreal.
That was Karen Millls from the U.S. Small Business Administration in the Obama admin. She’s absolutely wonderful and I was thrilled when Pres. Obama elevated her to a cabinet level. History making.
This was the segment on Morning Joe I believe; but if the link is wrong, and anyone wants to watch the segment you can go to the Morning Joe website.
Thanks ut – I didn’t know who she was – but thought she was with a Small Business admin group – she was so calm and collected and together – always polite in responding to Joe’s talking points, smiled as she disagreed – amazed he had her on – probably thought it was another woman he could take down.
Happy Thanksgiving to all at TOD. Wishing you all a happy day from your neighbour to the north. I will miss all the news and views tomorrow but it is a special day to be with family and close friends. I wish a happy and peaceful day to the President and his family. He sure deserves a break.
Happy Thanksgiving to the USA, especially our wonderful sisters and brothers here at TOD. You have earned the best ever Thanksgiving Day because you re-elected the best ever president in the universe. Thank you for sharing him and his beautiful family with us, the rest of the world.
This Friday, I will be hosting my colleagues at work for lunch. I call it my ‘President Obama’s Re-election Victory Celebration’. I am keepimg a promise I made to them that after POB’s win (I had no doubt about that) I would treat them all with lunch. If you recover from tomorrow’s sumptuous meals, and you can find your way to that little gem in the Caribbean Sea called Montserrat, feel free to join us.
Thank you for all your support of President Obama and hope you and your friends have a fun time at your “Re-election Victory Celebration”!!! Chips has truly created an international community!!!
What fun pictures. Happy Thanksgiving to All TOD family. I haven’t been around lately. I had another heart episode and ended I. The hospital for few days. Just came home today and am thankful for having some great doctors. This problem is just something I am goi g to have to live with “sigh” ☺. I still don’t have my laptop back yet so this on my iPhone. Chips for especially have a great day tomorrow .
So sorry to hear of your health/heart problems Roberts. Please take it easy and take care of yourself. Hope being on TOD helps; it certainly helps my blood pressure.
SHIZ, SHIZ, SHIZ!!!! Gone with the wind started at 8 and i flipping missed the first hour!!!!! 😡 😡 😡 argh!!!!!!!!! It’s on AMC for those who want to watch.
ps- Ashley is telling Scarlett he’s going off to war. Poor sweetheart, she’s in tears. :tears:
Lisa, I’ve never actually seen it from start to finish, in one go. I think I saw the last hour first, then the middle hour, then the first. People who had died were suddenly alive again. Left me confused.
Hahahahahahaha hahahahahahaha!!! That can be annoying. But if you ever get the chance, I hope you watch from start to finish, it’s a really great movie!
How old/young are you? You must be YOUNG! You have never seen GWTW all the way thru? Wait, what am I saying, I don’t think I have ever seen Casablanca all the way through : start to finish. So who am I to judge. But GWTW, I read the book over and over and saw the film over and over til now I go pshaw …
I see GOPism is contagious after all – say something often enough and you come to truly believe it, and eventually others will too. Adding the three quarters was a nice touch. I’m impressed with the way you build a story, Ms C.
You’re really missing something great, Lisa. It’s beautifully acted and I don’t think Ingrid Bergman has ever been more luminous. If you ever get to see it on a big screen in a movie theater, it’s worth the effort to go. Excerpt from it just don’t do it justice.
That is the only movie I have ever walked out on, less than halfway through. I could never see the fascination with it. Everyone in my group was wanting to leave but thought the others were enjoying it. Someone spoke up and we all hightailed it out of the theater without a seconds thought or moment of regret.
HAHAHA We’re probably the only ones who felt that way tho. 😆
the only movie I ever walked out in the middle (well it was actually before the middle of it was “Last Tango in Paris” marlon brando, yuck, we were at Auburn University for a conference, went to see this movie (only one showing in town) and I said to hubby, no, we have to leave. Could not take it. I am not a Marlon Brando fan; now, I may want to see Lindsay Lohan playing Liz (who is playing Brando?).
I love this movie! I’ve been watching it every year since I was 12 years old. I especially love Scarlett, particularly because she’s spoiled and bratty, then as things got worse, she matured, became a bit more ruthless and tough in order to survive. Over the years, I began to see the movie in terms of how she evolved from a silly southern belle to a woman of grit and heart. Love this movie! She may not be a Gloria Steinem or a bell hooks, but Scarlett is the embodiment of southern women: soft and gentle on the outside but made of steel on the inside. A real steel magnolia! 😉
I read the book 5 times and had the same reaction. I started being completely sympathetic to Rhett Butler, but by the end was totally on her side. It frustrates me that he gets so holier than thou at the end.
I’ve always loved the end. I don’t think it could have ended better. It was perfect in my opinion. I feel the same way about ‘The Black Swan’s ending. I can’t imagine a better ending for both movies. Rhett and Scarlett are both selfish and shrewd and the ending they got was exactly what I’d expect from both of them. Also, the beauty of the movie is the hope for the future, “after all, tomorrow is another day” for Tara, for the South and for Rhett and Scarlett’s relationship. I’ve always thought they eventually found their way back to each other. 🙂
I could never get over the fact that he was just as scheming and manipulative if not more so, but he somehow ends up on the moral high road. I did love the book, but that just got under my skin. I always thought that “Tomorrow is another day” held hope for Scarlett to overcome and move on past him.
“particularly because she’s spoiled and bratty” Yeah, I wanted to slap her. But hey, it has reached an iconic level so I realize I’m in the minority, but I’m happy here.
popping in between cooking chores but just had to say…….that would be us Southern women who voted for Obama and were reared by our Grandmothers and Mothers and rearing our daughters and Granddaughters to be strong, compassionate, and respectful….not the
“other” ones who are bigoted, crude, cruel, and have no brains…. ; ^ )….notice nose is in air
Evening, afternoon, morning all. Haven’t had time to post but have been thoroughly enjoying what I have been able to catch.
ChipsChica that ‘travels with the Obama’s post was the bomb! You do love us! Thank you. I fell asleep to Obama’s Ireland speech. Woke feeling real good about the day ahead. LOL
As much as I love his speeches, I mostly love the admiration and awe in the faces of the common people who gather behind gates and barracades, who line the streets and wave and shout as he goes by.
The trip to the barrios of Brazil, playing soccer with the Indian boys in the courtyard, Michelle taking those young women to sit and imagine themselves in the halls of Oxford. The handshake with the doorman at Downing St. At the HIV clinic in Africa, practicing his G’day with the school girls in Australia. Throwing down a Guinness in Moneygall. His entrance into the Hall of Parliment. I have no favorite. I love them all.
We have much to be thankful for. So before I get lost in all the news of the day (as I go back in posts to see what I’ve missed) I just want to say how thankful I am to know you all and for your company on our journey through this presidency.
Ah LunarSea, just the very best of memories. And just such a stunning contrast to the Bush years when he was greeted wherever he went by rage and contempt. PBO has been greeted with warmth, love and affection almost everywhere he’s gone, they’ve been magical trips.
Yes, burning flags and Bush effigies. It’s a wonder he ever left of the hall of Penn Ave. And when he opened his mouth everyone the world over cringed in horror and disbelieve.
So happy to let those days fade into the recesses, never to be forgotten, never allowed to repeat. Magical indeed.
And a big thanks to you because we would never have experienced them in all their fullness if we had to depend on the ‘Jackals of the Media’.
I think there are still a lot of CA and NY votes to come in. He will definitely end up below 47.5 which then rounds down to 47. PBO will end up with something around a 3.5% to 4% margin of victory.
U.S. has closed to within 5 million votes of ’08 total (126,393,207 vs. 131,313,820) with 2-3 mil. left to count. It looks likely majority of country’s 2-3 million uncounted ballots are in New York (-19.08% off 2008 total) CA and NJ. Also for Thanksgiving weekend and for a good cause and self agulation if you want to see David Axelrods mustache of 40 years shaved off on live TV for a good cause donte to help find a cure for epilepsy http://www.crowdrise.com/slashthestache/fundraiser/davidaxelrod
Today, also, Washington State added another 14,635 votes for the President and 6,403 for Romney. And, my beloved California added 120, 222 for my President and 72,159 for Romney. Basically, from Colorado, Washington and California, today President Obama added 147, 464 votes to Romney’s 82,785. If this trend continues, as more outstanding votes are counted, AMK’s prediction of 5 million winning margin for the President may yet come true. As of today, the President’s popular vote margin over Mitt Romney is 4,156,152.
By the way, It looks like hurricane Sandy impacted voting, to the detriment of the President’s total popular votes, in both New York and New Jersey. New York’s popular vote total is down 19.8% compared to 2008. And New Jersey’s popular vote total in 2012 is down 11.86% from 2008.
Proud of my state and our governor, John Kitzhaber, who is developing a pilot program with the Obama administration to deliver health care services more effectively and more efficiently, a possible model for the nation.
Maddow has a pure, flat-out VENDETTA against John McLame. POUNDING him again tonight on his misinformed, false, disgusting, flailing, pathetic attacks on Susan Rice. It’s so……..so…….so…..mmmm…….TRUE AND I LOVE IT!!!!
I use to listen to her radio show before she was hired for TV during the 2008 election and she hated him then. She showed him as a fraud tonight. He is bordering on senility at this point. They are trying to ruin Amb. Rice’s reputation before she is nominated. Tweety wants Sen. Kerry to be the next SOS.
Excuse my English, but who gives a dam what Chris Matthews want, the last time I check it was Barack Obama who won the election and so it’s his right to make that decision. We didn’t elect Matthews. I have nothing against Sen. Kerry, but when will these pundits learn that it’s President Obama decision to make.
The pres invited Matthews on a trip to a South American Country. The trip that SService people…well some had issues with the locals. Then at the Al Smith dinner, Matthews on his show the next day said something about the pres “apologizing” to him for the first debate. Matthews was also invited to some activity at the WH this year. In those 3 occasions, thus far this year, Matthews spoke with pres Obama.
I saw the Al Smith dinner – despite Chris was laughing, I don’t think he much liked what the President said – it was tongue in cheek apology mainly critizing Chris for his reaction to the 1st debate.
I didn’t say that I bought Chris Matthews’ explanation. But those were what Matthews said. Matthews loves to be invited to things. He begged Axelrod or Gibbs to help him get the pres for a one one one interview. Then when he doesn’t Matthews gets petulant and snippy.
By the way, Kaneran 2001, check out the new CA numbers: The President gained 120,222 more votes today to Romney’s 72,159. Sorry I had a problem linking to the CA sec of state site which is continuously updated.
I love seeing POTUS with his family. By the way, still no pictures of Paul “Ayn Rand” Ryan and his family at the food bank or shelter. Will Chipsticks when they come please post them.
It got crowded in heaven, so, for one day it was decided only to accept people who had really had a bad day on the day they died. St. Peter was standing at the pearly gates and said to the first man, “Tell me about the day you died.”
The man said, “Oh, it was awful. I was sure my wife was having an affair, so I came home early to catch her with him. I searched all over the apartment but couldn’t find him anywhere. So I went out onto the balcony, we live on the 25th floor, and found this man hanging over the edge by his fingertips. I went inside, got a hammer, and started hitting his hands. He fell, but landed in some bushes. So, I got the refrigerator and pushed it over the balcony and it crushed him. The strain of the act gave me a heart attack, and I died.”
St. Peter couldn’t deny that this was a pretty bad day, and since it was a crime of passion, he let the man in.
He then asked the next man in line about the day he died. “Well, sir, it was awful,” said the second man. “I was doing aerobics on the balcony of my 26th floor apartment when I twisted my ankle and slipped over the edge. I managed to grab the balcony of the apartment below, but some maniac came out and started pounding on my fingers with a hammer. Luckily I landed in some bushes. But, then the guy dropped a refrigerator on me!”
St. Peter chuckled, let him into heaven and decided he could really start to enjoy this job.
“Tell me about the day you died?”, he said to the third man in line.
“OK, picture this, I’m naked, hiding inside a refrigerator …”
OK this might not be final for tonight but I demand a new post titled MR. 47% CHIPS!!!
CA: Obama 120,222 new votes, Romney 72,759 (mostly Riverside, San Diego, Placer San Bernardino San Mateo Marin) With tonight’s new CA votes, @MittRomney U.S. popular vote share falls from 47.53% to 47.51%… https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjYj9mXElO_QdHpla01oWE1jOFZRbnhJZkZpVFNKeVE#gid=19 …
Sorry, Itjustcomes2ez2me. I didn’t see this before I posted the same numbers. I think there are still uncounted votes in CA, and especially in gigantic LA county. Will wait and see.
wow! i am truly impressed–i hope you had some help with all that! have a nice glass of wine, and rest now. we are thankful for you, and don’t want to lose you to thanks-giving-out!
Ha! Normally my Aunts come and help with the cooking but this year I decided to give them a break. I started at 1:00 this afternoon and got it all done by 10:30 tonight. Tomorrow will be a breeze since everything is practically done. Now, I’ll be able to enjoy the family and not spend all day in the kitchen.
Yum Donna. Sounds a lot like our menu except we aren’t having a lemon cake, which is a favorite of mine. We are having cherry pie, apple pie, and cheesecake for dessert. Enjoy your day!
Every year we go to my better half’s uncle’s NICE place for T-givin’. Tragically all I get to do out there is EAT and DRINK and EAT and DRINK and hang around and chat and lokk at the vista and be a big ole couch SLAB watching football. I don’t get to cook or clean at all. It’s terrible….but I manage.
the new yorker asks, however did a ceasefire happen without myth by bibi’s side?
‘ Has anyone, this week, been seeking out Mitt Romney’s views on the Gaza crisis? Have there been calls to put him on a plane and have him sit down with Benjamin Netanyahu or Mohamed Morsi, and sort things out? Hillary Clinton handled that instead, and we seem to have a ceasefire, while the urgent questions about Romney have been whether that was really him, photographed blurrily, pumping his own gas, or what he and Ann thought of Jacob imprinting on Renesmee in the new “Twilight” movie—which they saw over the weekend—and which vampire coven reminded them most of the Republican primary field. Last month, Romney was talking about the near-psychic bond he had with Netanyahu; that may have been nice for them, but it hardly seems to matter anymore to anyone else. By the time there was a ceasefire deal, on Wednesday, the Romney radar was alive to his trip to Disneyland with his wife and grandchildren, according to reports sourced back to park visitors who tweeted pictures. Has a candidate ever shifted so swiftly and unceremoniously from the realm of the auto bailout to that of Luigi’s Flying Tires? ‘
Just more evidence that Romney was completely impotent with respect to being a positive force for this country. He should just fade to the far, far, far background. Safest for everyone.
Thank you, Jacqueline. The two of them just need to know that we know how important their contribution was to the absolutely necessary outcome of 6 Nov 2012.
Wonderful tweet, Bob! I happen to think that you too deserve credit for your fearless tweets and messages that spread the Truth. I know I am not alone in saying Thank you for your relentless work in spreading Truth.
I wish you and your family a Very Happy Thanksgiving!
Bob . . . I need to put my two cents in with the others. You are a blessing in 140 characters. I retweet your tweets every chance I get. This one above is a beaut!! Thank G-D you are on our side!
Maybe someone will get the video of Paul Ryan and his family handing out food to the needed. You remember like the time doing the election he wanted to show how much he cared about the poor he went to that shelter with his family, put on their aprons went in the kitchen and wash the clean pots and pans while the camera watch him.
Good evening Chips and wonderful TOD family!!! This is a busy and fun time. I am taking a break from cooking. Just getting my pies, a pecan, pumpkin and pumpkin chiffon, done. These are a family tradition. The recipes come from both sides of the family. Use to make themj all the time, now it is just twice a year. Tomorrow it is turkey and all. Just having 2 guests and they are bringing the beans and salad. Really looking forward to the turkey and all.
We have so much to be thankful for this year. The first is our Presidents reelection. Also in the top is this wonderful site!!! Ms Chips our great leader is the best and all of us who are involved here. All those who just come and lurk. I am thankful for all of you. There is so much personally. My husband had his second hip replacement surgery the end of Oct and he is doing great. Now he has two new hips and no pain!!!! I am so thankful for the VA medical who paid for his first hip replacement in January and for Medicare for paying for his second surgery in October. Thank you America for health care.
May you all have a beautiful day tomorrow and hope everyone knows that you are loved!!!!!
So glad to hear that husband is mending well and that there is happiness and thankfulness going on at MM’s house:) My best to you and the family…Happy Thanksgiving!
Did this get posted already – it’s a story about a ten year old girl with two dads who wrote to the President asking him for advice about getting teased at school? This President is simply awesome!
Hello Chips and fellow TODers. Wishing you all a wonderful day tomorrow. Having this site is such a blessing to come to. Everyone did their job and we still have our beloved First Family to continue on as rolemodels to the world. I have some catching up to do on the pictures from our favorite White House photographer. See you all later.
in case you’ve had to leave your shopping to the very last minute:
‘ Buying union-made products is one way you can support good jobs. So check out the AFL-CIO’s list of union-made Thanksgiving choices, including, but not limited to:
wondering why the grinch robmey was seen with family at disneyland–always an ‘e’ ticket? just being generous, having a little fun? maybe i just don’t trust the guy to make any move without compensation.
‘ Rupert Murdoch makes an unlikely fairy godfather. The News Corp boss is more often portrayed as a cartoonish evil villain, especially inside rivals like Disney. But by paying a punchy price for a big piece of the Yankees Entertainment and Sports Network, Murdoch is implying an even richer valuation for ESPN than is already attached to the coveted Disney sports brand. That in turn makes the whole Magic Kingdom look worth more. ‘
So 10 days ago Mitt Romney wanted to be the leader of the free world – today he is on the rides at disneyland – an utter waste of billions of dollars from the fiscal conservatives
and another thing i’m thankful for– programs and laws that will save girls from the trap of being child brides.
‘
Child brides remain alarmingly common. An estimated 10 million marriages occur worldwide each year in which at least one spouse, usually the female, is younger than 18. In 16 countries, half of girls marry by that age. West Africa has the highest incidence of child marriage, South Asia the largest numbers. In many places, brides are preposterously young. In Niger, 36 percent of girls are wed before turning 15.
~
Programs that target this economic dynamic have reduced child marriages. In Ethiopia’s rural Amhara region, for example, parents of girls 10 to 14 were given $6 to pay for their daughter’s school supplies plus a goat worth $25 if she remained enrolled for two years. After that period, girls in the program were one-tenth as likely to be married and three times as likely to be in school as their peers. Similar programs in Malawi and Bangladesh have also reduced child-marriage rates.
~
The Ethiopian program was a partnership of local authorities and the Population Council, a nongovernmental organization focused on health and development issues, with funding from the Nike Foundation, the United Nations and the U.S. Agency for International Development. ‘
(usaid is a division of the state department. yes, i’m grateful for you, sec clinton!)
My very sincere best wishes to all on TOD celebrating Thanksgiving. Each of you has a very special place in my heart. Thank you for your hard work to re-elect PBO, your President, and the leader of our Free World.

Morning and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here:) Husband is gone, so the kids and I will have cornish game hen stuffed with wild rice and all the other Thanksgiving fixin’s….so much to be thankful for, not the least of which is that we have our health, our families, and our TOD friends….and best of all, our President for another 4 years. I think I’m actually still a little numb from the whole election experience this time around, for absolutely grateful for the hard work that all of us did to get him elected. Enjoy your day with your friends and family. Eat, nap, OD on football 🙂 Love you all….and a very special hug for our most wonderful blog goddess, Chips. Love you, Chips! Happy Thanksgiving:)
🙂 I think that I noticed that you were having those darling little cornish hens for dinner! So adorable….have a wonderful day with your daughters and their families….and it goes without saying….hugs and love.
Happy Thanksgiving TOD!
shucks, thought I had it….congrats Don
Don!!!!!!!!!!
Woah Chipsticks!!! Did you get POTUS’ permission to post this hawt picture of FLOTUS?
Got clearance from the WH GGail, no worries 🙂
Thank you Chips for finally realizing that you have male followers on your blog.
🙂 And brave souls you are too!
Well if POTUS is monitoring this site, I want it on record that I questioned your wisdom in posting such a hot photo of HIS Michelle. You’re on your own Chipsticks 🙂
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
whoa !!!
Ha, that woke you up.
And just when I was having a very hot coffee today.
I will send you my doc’s bill.
😆 Got a little burnt, did ya?
How can anyone handle double super hawt? Heartless minx.
One hawt at a time, remember that next time, buster.
Okay, I just came online and I must say, that picture woke me up big time. That may be my all time favorite.
Ladies? Notice how the men people spring to life when one of those very lovely Michelle pics is posted? Hiya Japa! 🙂
Well Chips, considering the triple thread fainting spell around here just because of some cheap, tackyt, I think our reactions are totally justified.
😆 I noticed how the TOD chaps went for a long walk during that hysteria, and very nervously returned, like swimmers dipping their toes in the water, hoping the sharks had moved on.
That was supposed tobe “ta cky shirt”. Sometimes my keyboard decides to rebel on me and skip letters.
Your keyboard obviously loved the shirt and, in protest, refused to cooperate in your attempts to type ta cky.
Hawaii pre-event the day before she hosted other First ladies…
Heck yeah. Forgot about that. How could I? Another fav! Thanks for the reminder.
Another fav from that http://bit.ly/UU80gl
I do hope they get to spend more time there -after office- they always seem in their element.
Happy Thanksgiving, Chips and Don – and congrats on 1st, y’all!
Happy thanksgiving USA. Congrats on 1st Don.
gobble gobble every1
Hahahahahaahaha……whaaaat?
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving, TOD!
Have a great Thanksgiving, everyone.
Beverly – Well, I’m thankful you shared that message with us. And thank you for all you do for your brothers and sisters. Happy Thanksgiving!
Dear Beverly,
Firstly, thank you for your dedication to others in the truest sense of ‘we are our brother’s keeper’!
#FORWARD Together
God bless you Beverly and keep up the good work!
Thank you for sharing your experiences in helping these communities. It is good to know our $$ is being well spent. I hope you will share here often.
And thank you for your own work! Happy Thanksgiving!
It’s true. Every word. I often think he continues his mother’s work. In his own way of course. She would be proud
You’re freaking fantastic Beverly. Thank you so much for the work you do and I hope you have a happy thanksgiving too.
Beverly thanks so much – what an inspiration. I hope you also have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving! 🙂
3 at 8:03! What a great community. What a great blog mistress!
Good West Coast evening Chipsticks!
Upon closer inspection, I notice the way the SHIRT falls on POTUS and then it hit me – he has on a bullet-proof vest under the shirt and it stops at his waist – that’s why he looks like he has a stomach pouch.
Does my theory have merit???
Oh yikes, do you think GGail?
I keep looking at the Shirt and wondering why it seems to pooch at his stomach area and that’s the only explanation I come up with…..I could be wrong…
I think he’s just been eating good lol.
Now we’ll all be looking at his mid-section in all future pictures – hahahaha!
I almost think he does not wear such a vest, with his protection always nearby. But I don’t think we’ll ever know the details for sure.
God bless him!!!
Shoulder pads on most of the traditional shirts the President and other Heads of State are wearing…
—————————–
http://www.c-span.org/Events/2008-Campaign-Operatives-Analyze-2012-Campaign/10737435890/
NOTE:
This is a long presentation about an hour and a half with question and answer segment at the end. If you don’t have time to listen to the entire broadcast, try to listen to the first 30 minutes. I especially found Steve Schmidt’s analysis of the problems with his party very refreshing. I don’t expect anyone in the party to listen to him, but he says what needs to be said about the damage the loons and wackos are doing to the GOP.
Thank you LH! Very much worth listening, very much!!! And, Steve Schmidt has got some very important things to say!!
I watched it live Ladyhawke & thought it was a Steve Schmidt never seen before. Even on MSNBC he had been protecting himself & party – but in this discussion he seems to have accepted how wrong the GOP has been to accept the loons and wackos and their policies.
Which means from now on he is persona non grata in GOP circles.
Definitely japa – he will probably still say he is “conservative” but the RWNJs will attack him until the later are no more.
That’s about the long and short of it. LOL
Malia’s smile and mannerism are exactly like her father’s when she laughs.
Yeah – he was very spritely! He really is the Energizer President.
A very Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!
1. Gain the respect of people of other countries during a trip abroad, by hand-delivering America’s good wishes for their peace and prosperity.
2. Help secure a cease-fire in a foreign hotbed.
3. Pardon a turkey.
4. Participate in the good works of a local food bank, spending part of the day with fellow Americans who need a hand up.
All in a week’s work for “that one.” And I love his family, too!
Check. Check. Check. and Check!
🙂
And don’t forget my new favorite noun ‘Shirt’
Or is it a new action verb. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
I must be getting old, to have forgotten that! Love it. 🙂
Not even a week! All of that happened in about a 24 hour period!
True!
Hello everyone.
hey there. And yes, I could go for a smooth scotch about now.
Mmmmmm, salmon sandwich, yum!
yes, with avocado too. can’t wait.
Avocado? I LOVE avocado. Stop Daisy, tell me no more, tummy rumbling.
btw jacque, that is it totally, we do appreciate her beauty inside and out, her warmth and grace, and oh my gosh, the way they both love to hug (I am a hugger too) it is amazing. So it is not just the physical good looks we are responding to … it is what we glean from within both of them. And it is genuine.
Enjoy!
Sounds excellent.
I’ve got my own wine fog going on here…
Howdy, partner!
Cheers! *clink*
Wrong! He and Ann were photographed at Disneyland here in So Cal today – riding on the rides
*snark*
what’s actually disgusting is that the msm does not call them out on this. hey, msm, you reported it as fact when these the guys insisted government was not needed for social programs to function, because faith-based groups would do the job better and cheaper (cheaper because it doesn’t cost the rethugs anything). this would be the perfect moment for the rethugs to demonstrate that was not just a bunch of lies they told to trick the voters. and a perfect moment for the msm to show how community programs, paid with tax dollars, are making a difference. still watching and waiting……
Agree, Jacqueline. And, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Sounds like she really knew her stuff. It’s great when people who actually have the facts push back on this made-up
Sorry I missed that.
This was the segment on Morning Joe I believe; but if the link is wrong, and anyone wants to watch the segment you can go to the Morning Joe website.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/ns/msnbc_tv-morning_joe/
p.s. I believe this is the correct link.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/ns/msnbc_tv-morning_joe/#49914509
Thanks ut – I didn’t know who she was – but thought she was with a Small Business admin group – she was so calm and collected and together – always polite in responding to Joe’s talking points, smiled as she disagreed – amazed he had her on – probably thought it was another woman he could take down.
Happy Thanksgiving to all at TOD. Wishing you all a happy day from your neighbour to the north. I will miss all the news and views tomorrow but it is a special day to be with family and close friends. I wish a happy and peaceful day to the President and his family. He sure deserves a break.
those are some really great fitting pants.
nate silver must be pleased as a punch.
Pops!!!!! How you doin’? it’s been a while, where’ve ya been? Out spreading propaganda about the Soshulist Kenyan Mooslim who leads ‘Murka backwards?
Hiya lisa. I was here just a few hours ago!!! wimmin, how easily they forget? / smh.
Happy TG (not tgif).
thanks popsie!!! Friends and I going to Korean restaurant and then going to watch Lincoln! 🙂
for thanksgiving.
You are going to get drunk, aren’tya ? Have fun.
Grazie, I will!!!! 🙂 🙂
Love you all
would love to accept your kind invitation, prayerwarrior! have a joyful day celebrating!
Thank you for all your support of President Obama and hope you and your friends have a fun time at your “Re-election Victory Celebration”!!! Chips has truly created an international community!!!
#FORWARD
chicken says, eat clams!
That’s hilarious.
I’m eating chicken ,turkey, and ham. Sorry guys.
Happy to see you Roberta. You flashed across my mind earlier in the week. Take good care of yourself and have a very good Thanksgiving.
I am most thankful that you had great doctors and are back home and with us.
{{{{Roberts in MN}}}}
Keeping you in prayer Roberts. Continue to take good care of yourself and bless each day.
So sorry to hear that Roberta, take care of yourself, and get back to the best of health very soon.
Stay well, Robert. Do what the doctors say and enjoy your Thanksgiving!
Take care of yourself Roberta…
I’m 21 and three quarters, Daisy. Honest.
And I am King of the Underworld.
I knew that already 🙂
And let’s hope you stay that way for a long time ChipsChica
I’m ageless LunarSea, I’ll be 21 and three quarters forever (shut up Amk).
I see GOPism is contagious after all – say something often enough and you come to truly believe it, and eventually others will too. Adding the three quarters was a nice touch. I’m impressed with the way you build a story, Ms C.
Okay sweetie … honest. A mere bebe.
Never watched Casablanca. Romantic comedies have ruined it for me. Love Ingrid Bergman and Bogie, but won’t ever watch that movie.
My mother-in-law loved that movie. I always thought it was just a cheap melodrama with poor acting.
the only movie I ever walked out in the middle (well it was actually before the middle of it was “Last Tango in Paris” marlon brando, yuck, we were at Auburn University for a conference, went to see this movie (only one showing in town) and I said to hubby, no, we have to leave.
PS…HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!….just finished fixing candied sweet potatoes and cornbread dressing
Your nose is rightfully in the air… A few bad apples giving everyone in the South a bad name!
That made me cry!!!!!!
😆 Howling! Love his face!!!!
The moment is near us people ultimate POETIC JUSTICE! CO: Denver just reported 12,259 new Obama votes, 3,356 Romney just fell to 47.53% nationally: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjYj9mXElO_QdHpla01oWE1jOFZRbnhJZkZpVFNKeVE#gid=19 …
Woah, excellent!!!! Please let him stay at 47, how delicious would that be?!
I think there are still a lot of CA and NY votes to come in. He will definitely end up below 47.5 which then rounds down to 47. PBO will end up with something around a 3.5% to 4% margin of victory.
I am open for 4.8 mil, 4.5% PV lead for 20 bucks.
The 4.8 mil lead I can see. No way it gets to 4.5%. So I am on. I win, the USO gets 20 bucks. You win, it goes wherever you want.
You are on.
Chips, will you serve as witness and dispenser of funds.
Will do Japa, and if we can leave Amk poorer the cheesy puffs will be on me.
Traitor…
On you and in you.
I tend to agree with Japa on the 4.5% but amk for obama would have won the bet for sure if not for this Obama lost 800,000 votes due to Sandy btw loser could donate to Slash the Stash link below to see Axelrods 40yr old mustache shaved live on TV
http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/11/08/15025845-hurricane-sandy-may-have-cost-obama-800000-votes?lite
That can’t be right Japa, according to Gallup………..
LOL. Gallup can you know what off into the sunset.
Did you see they’ve said they are reassessing their “methodology”? I almost fainted from the laughing.
Shorter Gallup: ‘Must find another way to skew polls to our liking.’
U.S. has closed to within 5 million votes of ’08 total (126,393,207 vs.
Love the figures from DC – no doubt about that vote
………………….sorry fokls I haven’t stopped gloating ;>)
Little bit cranky?
Grumpy much these days?
Secret Service told you BUH-BYE?
Someone sh*t on your birthday cake?
NO. WHAT!? You were a GOVERNOR OF A MAJOR STATE and you lost THAT state by HOW much?
Your OWN FAITHFUL PARTY disowned you?
Wedgy in your sacred underpants?
No more entourage, just a bitter, bitchy wife askin’ you WTF happened everyday and she told you not to do it???
Some 100s of millions of BUCKEROOS should take the sting out of it! What, you have debts??
Alright, you have a point. It does SUCK TO BE YOU!!!
Magapie – that level of gloating is uncalled for, and totally fabulous 😆
That was funny Chip the mischievous…
Magapie, I completely share your gloating…
I too simply couldn’t wait for that smirk to be wiped off Romney’s face…
I was looking at the classic willard at the gas pump pic when I spewed this out! I’m horrible. I’ll stop. Soon.
(Don’t stop – that’s an order!)
…hee hee…
LMAO
The more they whine and spin the more we gloat. If they’d just shut up and go quietly into the night…..but NOOOOOO!
magapie – No, honest, I bow in your presence. 🙂
That is quite unecessary. but thanks……send beer!!
On its way! No, honest!
Proud of my state and our governor, John Kitzhaber, who is developing a pilot program with the Obama administration to deliver health care services more effectively and more efficiently, a possible model for the nation.
The REAL motive?
Little Lying Lindsey Graham is a sorry excuse for a human being.
She’s defending a smart woman being harangued by a crazy old coot. He’s got nowhere to hide from her. She. Be. Mad.
magapie, I missed that, but I’m glad she did it, because we can’t let that bitter old fool get away with no push back.
I’m not even sure that President Obama has even spoken to Chris Matthews since he was elected the first time! Irrelevant.
I stand corrected! 🙂
Theo….You are 1001% correct that Matthews is irrelevant. I was providing information that are out there.
I pray that everyone has a blessed, safe and Happy Thanksgivinbg Day. i, myself , have soooomuch to be thankful for!
OK PEOPLE BIG NEWS COMING SHORTLY WILL BE A GREAT CODA TO A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING STAND BY>>>>>>>>>
here is a teaser WA: 12,259 new Obama votes just reported, 5,015 Romney (mostly Seattle/King County):
We came so close to getting a Dem SOS, too. At least we got a Dem Atty Gen. And kept the Governor’s mansion…yay!
I saw slightly higher numbers from Washington state: The President 14, 635 and Mr. Romney 6,403..
That suppose to be well, not will.
I look at Sasha and Malia and I say to myself they have grown so much. I know Barack and Michelle is very proud of them.
Priceless! Men… 😉
Yeah, one wimmin screws up and three men pay the price. 🙂
Or… the woman lives to see another day! Three men screwed it up for themselves… 🙂
LOL. Good one.
My take away: Even at the pearly gates it comes down to 6 degrees of separation….LOL
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving, Libra!
Happy Thanksgiving, beloved TOD family!
Once it gets to 47.49, he will officially be the 47% man. Deservedly and ironically so.
rounding down, rounding down….
Sorry, Itjustcomes2ez2me. I didn’t see this before I posted the same numbers. I think there are still uncounted votes in CA, and especially in gigantic LA county. Will wait and see.
no worries I was half drunk this evening and missed half the posts scrolling myself also!
Happy Thanksgiving and much love to my TOD Family! May your day be filled with the love and laughter of family and friends!

You’re a superstar, Donna! Enjoy your Thanksgiving tomorrow!
Yum Donna. Sounds a lot like our menu except we aren’t having a lemon cake, which is a favorite of mine. We are having cherry pie, apple pie, and cheesecake for dessert. Enjoy your day!
Oh my gosh, Donna! You’re blowing my mind! What a wonderful menu for your family. Enjoy every morsel together.
Thankful for you and for all TODville accomplished together. Happy Thanksgiving.
You are a freak and I hate you.
(But really love you.)
Hmmmmm….I love you back magapie!!
You poor, poor thing . Bless your heart (as we say in the South); can we help ease your pain? Say by taking your place? I could use a day like that.
You are as SWEET as you name, daisydem!!! Alas……I must do my penance. God bless you and God Bless Us Everyone. I may have my holidays confused.
It’s a tuff life but someone’s gotta do it 🙂
Everything sounds amazing, but that lemon cake really caught my eye – can you send me a tiny piece, please?
That tiny piece is on its way! 😉
can i have a great big piece? that sounds deeeeelicious!
🙂
Don’t be selfish. Send me some of that.
the new yorker asks, however did a ceasefire happen without myth by bibi’s side?

Happy Thanksgiving Susanne!

Thank you, Chips!!
Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone 🙂

Bob – Such a lovely thing to do. Thanks for thinking of it.
Thank you, Jacqueline. The two of them just need to know that we know how important their contribution was to the absolutely necessary outcome of 6 Nov 2012.
Yes We Did
Wonderful tweet, Bob! I happen to think that you too deserve credit for your fearless tweets and messages that spread the Truth. I know I am not alone in saying Thank you for your relentless work in spreading Truth.
I wish you and your family a Very Happy Thanksgiving!
That is so kind of you, nath. If anything I did made even a slight difference, it would be heartwarming for sure.
All the best to you and your family on this most special of Thanksgivings. My wife and I agree, it is the best Thanksgiving of our lives.
#FORWARD
You made a HUGE difference and helped to marshall the rest of us. You’re a treasure.

Video: Obama family hands out vegetables
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/news-video/video-obama-family-hands-out-vegetables/article5544473/
thank you Donna – would love to see more – they sure live their values – all the time.
Maybe someone will get the video of Paul Ryan and his family handing out food to the needed. You remember like the time doing the election he wanted to show how much he cared about the poor he went to that shelter with his family, put on their aprons went in the kitchen and wash the clean pots and pans while the camera watch him.
Michelle’s niece is there at the back handing out veg.
Happy Thanksgiving,mtmarilyn!
So glad to hear that husband is mending well and that there is happiness and thankfulness going on at MM’s house:) My best to you and the family…Happy Thanksgiving!
Holy crap!!! That’s the muderous, sodium sucking monster from the original Star Trek!!!!
You owe me a new keyboard.
Did this get posted already – it’s a story about a ten year old girl with two dads who wrote to the President asking him for advice about getting teased at school? This President is simply awesome!
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/obama-answers-girl-letter-dads-article-1.1206021
This was so heartwarming…
Very sad and upsetting that a little girl would be taunted by other kids for no reason other than learned prejudice…
Have a great day tomorrow, too! Enjoy the picture show!
The Obamas must have the MOST KICK ASS DENTIST EVER. I mean seriously??? Guess I’ll try those GD Crest White Strips again. SOB.
So funny!

That’s very useful.
wondering why the grinch robmey was seen with family at disneyland–always an ‘e’ ticket? just being generous, having a little fun? maybe i just don’t trust the guy to make any move without compensation.

speaking of turkeys…
If Sarah Palin were to be so darn stupid to run in 2016 she couldn’t even beat Bo.
I will never forgive Bush & Cheney and their fellow #NEOCONSTERS for this ….

Just imagine what their Thanksgiving could have been if America had not been traumatized by fear mongers and LIED into war.

The wealthy are not job creators – 60% of jobs are created by small business owners
http://www.nbcnews.com/id/49263362#49914509
(morningjoe – best ever put down of Joe)
64%
