GM, TD. I say it’s a clear case of ‘great minds’ – yours and Marth’s. 😀
Frankly, I think it’s a wonderfully relaxing feeling to know that the President can travel wherever and we do not need to hold our breaths at each venue in case he embarrasses North America. President’s Obama’s ancestry and his entire life have prepared him for this position in a way no amount of Bush money or Romney money/privilege could have prepared them. I don’t think the naysayers will pause long enough to truly understand that.
Good luck with the car – hope it’s not too costly. I haven’t even thought about doing my winter check and putting on my snow tires yet because the weather has been so dry. I’ll probably wait till the first snowfall then hope the mechanic can squeeze me in. [You do know that I’m ‘up the road’ from you, right?]
Good Morning Ms Chips and TODobots all, including the addicted ones! 😆 😆 And ‘thank you’ to all TOD reporters who have kept us current with the President’s visit to SE Asia. Ms Chips has harnessed an excellent team and you guys/gals all do excellent work!
Such a beautiful post!! Love following PBO in his travels, wonderful to see how other countries honor him! GM TOD, GM Ms Chips! I have been busy lately, but try to read through all the posts, even though I don’t comment much. Thanks again Ms Chips, for ALL you do for us and for our president!
I want to take this moment to say thank you for this site and the well informed thoughful people who come to this site and share information. Thank you
Yes, it’s extraordinary. I am moved to tears that we are creating our own sources of information, and are no longer CHAINED to the bs of mainstream media. Truly, we were not free. Now, we’re taking major ground.
Wait, Ms Chips! We won’t need a ‘rise and shine’ later as we have already been shining so long we’ll be dull by your return. Just bring us the next installment of the day ‘Pres O in Cambodia’, or ‘Chips running to catch up with Pres O’, or something like that. 😉 😉
CC, it’s such fun to give you a hard time, even though you work so hard, AND WE APPRECIATE IT! I mean where else could we go in the wee hours of the morning and KNOW we’ll be able to keep a steady eye on the President? Gratzie (sure hope that means ‘thanks’ – too lethargic to check) 😆
😆 😆 It’s after 8 and the phone hasn’t rung – yeah, I don’t have to work today! 😎 I can really catch up on the videos from last night that I’ve skipped. 😆
You are very welcome, Andogriff (though I do little). The joy of TODville is that it allows us all to share our little bit, or our LOT, and as Martha noted above, there are so many, many knowledgeable folk who hang out here.. Also, TODville is what it is because we have such a WARM hostess and welcoming committee, ALONG WITH agreeable villagers like yourself. 😉 😉 Have a terrific day!
The Major Businesses are trying to give leverage to the Republicans, by swearing to God if we go off Fiscal cliff we will layoff millions of Americans.
Does anybody else find this to be extortion?
Oh, and we have not even mentioned Obamacare and how much Big Businesses Hate that Evil Law!
Makes me think, they had something really really big planned if Robney won. Like maybe a Valkyrie- type plan for America?
Happy International Men’s Day to all, and, especially the men who faith fully keep us informed and smiling on a daily basis. And, cheers to PBO,… the US and Pacific President. What a historic occasion for this ‘well-loved all over the world’, international male.
Please note that the “news” is exaggerating the Israel-Gaza events as a distraction from PBO’s historic visit to Burma. When PBO returns all the hoopla will die down – FAST. Mark my word….
Good Morning all. Wanted to say again, THANKS to Chips and the TOD family for all the Presidents coverage. If it wasn’t for this site….I would know nothing. Sad note…I unfollowed a long time PBO supporter. I am a Jewish American that is not a Bibi fan. Israel started this by assignation and it is not widely reported that this was the fact. She tweeted out a Bibi quote that horrified my so I unfollowed her. I pray for world peace. There must be concessions on ALL sides.
NBC Today finally mentioned President Obama’s historic trip about 4 or 5 stories in, after showing Paula Broadwell locked arm in arm with hus-band back home in Charlotte, the demise of the Twinkie etc. It was a brief report by Chuck Todd, looking really rough around the edges by the way—-no showers in his accomodations? Todd showed a couple little clips and called our president, “Mr. Obama”. Viewers would have gleaned no significance to this visit by Todd’s reporting. President Obama did get an earlier mention in the Today opening when Lauer said ‘the president is out of the country and has left dealing with the fiscal cliff up to Congress.’
And on and on it goes.
The American media is made up primarily of LAZY, overpaid gossip columnists who are physically and mentally unfit for travel across time zones, geographical regions and cultures. The slightest disruption in their normally easy routines renders them completely useless. Contrast that with our President and SOS, both of whom are not only required to do the same travel, but also to be completely functional, give major speeches, interact socially on and off camera.
While I can not stand Chuck Todd, I do have to say that it is common to call presidents, “mr.” I do it in my classroom often. But he should not be called “Obama” by them, that is disrespectful. Moving on, I must say how naive I feel, that the MSM would recognize defeat, and go back to covering presidents the way they usually do. Sigh. How stupid of me. I am so glad for this place or I would know nothing!
The problem is that they call him “Mr.” all the time while still referring to past Presidents as “President,” Romney as “Governor,” and Mankini as “Speaker” etc.
It was only a matter of time before Anderson Cooper and his friends at CNN decided to make the “news” all about them. I find this curious that all these Gaza-Israel events escalated just as the President was making a historic trip to Asia. There is something but it is grossly exaggerated by the media. Sorry, but that’s just my impression right now.
I agree, you’re supposed to be the eyes and ears of what is happening in that part of the world and you’re tweeting information like you’re on some fucking date. It’s as if the parent (President Obama) is out of town on business, and the kids (Cooper&Company) are trashing the house and tweeting about it.
President Obama is in the Asia Pacific region forging business ties and making friends while Netanyahu is up to his eyeballs in death and destruction. Netanyahu wanted his war and now he’s gotten it, sadly he does not have a way out, there is no end game. He, Netanyahu does not have a way out of the hell hole he put himself and his country in; all of the world’s sympathy is quickly eroding.
Totally off topic but if you haven’t seen Pink’s performance from last night’s American Music Awards, then you must see it and also listen closely to the lyrics of her song “Try.” A lot of people are caught up in the hype of Justin Bieber and don’t recognize the true artistry that is Pink. This performance and her Grammys performance were beyond amazing.
Me too. It was breathtaking. To think she had a kid like a year or less than a year ago and yet she’s being so physical. I’ve always loved her singing and performance ability but she raised the bar to another level with last night’s performance.
A guy was on trial for murder and if convicted, would get the electric chair. His brother found out that a redneck was on the jury and figured he would be the one to bribe. He told the redneck that he would be paid $10,000 if he could convince the rest of the jury to reduce the charge to manslaughter.
The jury was out an entire week and returned with a verdict of manslaughter.
After the trial, the brother went to the redneck’s house, told him what a great job he had done and paid him the $10,000.
The red neck replied that it wasn’t easy to convince the rest of the jury to change the charge to manslaughter. They all thought he was not guilty and, wanted to let him go.
Not of prime importance, I realize, but I agree this is the stupidest of stupid traditions. It is time to wrap this one up, shut it down. Senseless, goofy; no more presidents should have to partake.
Such a stupid tradition. RT @postlocal: 2 VA-raised turkeys will head to White House for annual Thanksgiving pardon http://t.co/S3qLabzb
They’re trying to understand PBO’s brain! One of photos has this caption: “Copies of Sasha Abramsky’s book “Inside Obama’s Brain” are on display at a bookstore in Rangoon.” 🙂
I will miss the Rise and Shine, but will be back to check up on all o’ y’all when and if I can! {{{{{Chips}}}}} {{{{{PBO}}}}} {{{{{TOD}}}}} One day I will tell you about the week I spent in Burma, before it was Myanmar…. But how to tell a long story in a short version? Ah, the first world dilemmas we face…… Bye!
I am so proud of my President
Isn’t he great? A living example of what it means to truly lead with your values!
I was just going to post that!!!! but you beat me to it.
So I’m going to retroactively say I said it and declare myself first.
😉
Congrats, way to go.
GM, TD. I say it’s a clear case of ‘great minds’ – yours and Marth’s. 😀

He is truly a spectacularly amazing and magnificent man…
A once in a generation leader…
I’ve never been more thrilled and prouder to have given and done everything to elect, re-elect and to call him my President…
morning
Morning, OMF! What’s the weather like in your part of the world? 😉
Morning VC; 10 degrees C. I have day off but getting car checked!

Thanks Chips! Hope you are well!
Good Morning everyone!
ASSK looks so very worried.
I think she was just nervous…
It’s surreal really, being at the center of the most high profile visit Burma has had in forever…
She is and continues to be the catalyst that set this in motion…
Yes, I hear you.
If she ran in 2016, I can’t see her losing.
I just cant.
TrumpDog, I can see her losing if she runs in 2016.
LOL

This is Pres. Obama’s full speech at the University of Yangon.
Thanks so much ut – I will watch the speech as soon as I get a chance!
thank you ut, am listening to it now ~ so proud of him in so many ways 🙂 have emailed this to my entire family- as I doubt the media will show it.
These are the full remarks made by Pres. Obama and Aung San Suu Kyi.
How LAME of TNN/CNN to say “happening now, as if Pres Obama hasn’t been there for a day already…. What a sham we have for US media.
WHATEVER, CNN, whatever….
Maybe they just mean it is not tape delayed.
I want to take this moment to say thank you for this site and the well informed thoughful people who come to this site and share information. Thank you
Beautifully said, Martha!
Yes, it’s extraordinary. I am moved to tears that we are creating our own sources of information, and are no longer CHAINED to the bs of mainstream media. Truly, we were not free. Now, we’re taking major ground.
THIS, Sara, a thousand times.
Oh yes Sara! It is so exciting!
I’ll add my thanks also, without this site, Chips & all the folks who bring facts here, I would be ‘newsless’. I’m so grateful for everyone here.

Looks like POTUS is trying to sing in picture three.
You’re right…
😆 😆 It’s after 8 and the phone hasn’t rung – yeah, I don’t have to work today! 😎 I can really catch up on the videos from last night that I’ve skipped. 😆
Special thanks to all who share videos, pictures, tweets and info on this blog…. dudette, vc, ut, bobfr, nath, tally… so many of you!

Great pics at TOD. I watched some of the visit covered by teann international and bbc.

After watching the morning news this morning, which is something I don’t usually do, I am concern about what is going on in Israel. It looks bad.
I did miss POTUS speech this morning. I guess I needed the sleep, because I was up looking for it.
I meant I wasn’t up looking for the speech.
Please note that the “news” is exaggerating the Israel-Gaza events as a distraction from PBO’s historic visit to Burma. When PBO returns all the hoopla will die down – FAST. Mark my word….

Good morning everyone! What a speech! That is another one for the ages! Just had tocheck in before I started my day. These trips are exhausting.
The Republicans have completely forgotten we had an election. Me thinks it’s a bad habit. They need to calm down.
They have not forgotten at all. But they want US to forget. We won’t.

‘Maybe God will have to bring our nation down to our knees.’
Isn’t that what happened towards the end of Bush’s 2004 term? Did Franklin want both knees lopped off too?
