Beautiful pictures
Lovely compassionate photos.
Thanks Chips, I always love this picture of the President and me!
That was you?!
(not for real) 😉
Is this really you?
No, sorry, just a late night joke. Believe me if President Obama had visited me to offer comfort (or for any other reason, you’d have heard about it!
SO OFTEN…PBO HAS HAD TO SERVE AS ‘COMFORTER-IN-CHIEF’…..CONTINUOUS PRAYERS ARE NEEDED FOR ALL WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM THIS TRAGEDY!
My,my Admiral Chips we’re up kinda late.
Congrats mary1. Welcome to the nose bleed section. 😀
Oh, brother.
( 🙂 )
Hey you. Whatcha been up to?
Hey. Well, not up to “first” like you guys! But I’m kinda getting closer. Guess we’re here mostly among mid-section and west coasters at this time of the evening, eh? Wonder what they talk about all night. (Ha!)
The same stuff the day crew does.
Yes, I’m kidding. I’m often part of both the day and the night crew. Can’t get enough … of TOD!
Are you taking any meds for this condition?
Yes, pretty potent stuff, too (probably banned in southern states). I’m on ’em for four years!
May need rehab in 2017, and I don’t think I’m the only one! Know what I mean?
Me too.
🙂
🙂 Rarified air, indeed!
Don’t worry it won’t last long. The air will get thick soon enough.
Enjoying it while I can.
How does he do it? He seems to understand everyone. Those poor parents.
The photographs are almost unbearable.
i feel that too. it’s as if pbo’s sincere, authentic presence is so disarming, the people he’s comforting feel completely safe feeling the pain and fear and all that they’re experiencing–and by feeling it in safety, some of it can release. that’s the impression i have, and it is almost too personal to watch. very beautiful, very intimate.
Beautifully put. Just the experience of thinking – and seeing you and others write – such thoughts about the leader of our country makes me want to shed a couple of tears, sometimes. We can’t even imagine what it must be like to be with him in a time of need, as these people have experienced. What a beautiful man. I credit his mother!
Oh, JOB, I feel that way, too. I can’t imagine any president in my lifetime being able to give the support and consolation PBO does. My heart is aching from the tragedy of the family that lost their two little boys. I can’t imagine how they can put one foot in front of the other without falling apart. And yet, they seem to be absorbing all the love and comfort the president is giving them. These devastated Staten Islanders are the ones that some right wingers, including the evil R/R twins, would call takers because they’re looking for and accepting help from the government. I wonder if people will ever fully appreciate how big a bullet we dodged on November 6, And I want people to understand that every member of Congress who expresses contempt for disaster recovery, votes to cut FEMA or denies climate change, should be so soundly defeated they never run again.
*so soundly defeated they never run again*
Love it. Yes, we can do that!
So proud of my president, they really need comfort. Hopefully these people is not going to have a hard time and problem in the process of claiming their insurance and fema help. God bless them
Working late tonight? Ankle keeping you up, instead of other way around?
Just popping in to say good night everyone. Chips, take care of yourself as well as you take care of us.
Love ya CEB, sleep well.
A man left work one Friday afternoon. Being payday, instead of going home, he stayed out the entire weekend hunting with the boys and spent his entire paycheck. When he finally appeared at home, Sunday night, he was confronted by a very angry wife and was barraged for nearly two hours with a tirade befitting his actions.
Finally, his wife stopped the nagging and simply said to him, “How would you like it if you didn’t see me for two or three days?”
To which he replied, “That would be fine with me.”
Monday went by and he didn’t see his wife. Tuesday and Wednesday came and went with the same results.
Thursday, the swelling went down just enough where he could see her a little out of the corner of his left eye.
🙂
:lol 😆!
when I took another look at the New York photos, it was interesting to see that the only people who were really dressed for work were PBO and Shaun Donovan. Those in suits and fashion boots obviously did not mean to get their hands dirty.
Gov Cuomo was also dressed appropriately.
Yes, and he looked much more pleasant than gloomy Bloomy.
A small town prosecuting attorney called his first witness to the stand in a trial, a grandmotherly, elderly woman. He approached her and asked, “Mrs. Jones, do you know me?”
She responded, “Why, yes, I do know you Mr. Williams. I’ve known you since you were a young boy. And frankly, you’ve been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you’re a rising big shot when you haven’t the brains to realize you never will amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you.”
The lawyer was stunned. Not knowing what else to do he pointed across the room and asked, “Mrs. Williams, do you know the defense attorney?”
She again replied, “Why, yes I do. I’ve known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster, too. I used to baby-sit him for his parents. And he, too, has been a real disappointment to me. He’s lazy, bigoted, he has a drinking problem. The man can’t build a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the shoddiest in the entire state. Yes, I know him.”
At this point, the judge rapped the courtroom to silence and called both counselors to the bench. In a very quiet voice, he said with menace, “If either of you asks her if she knows me, you’ll be jailed for contempt!”
😆 Exquisite!!! Me loves Mrs Jones!!
wimmin, huh ?
The Hunchback of Notre Dame retired and they needed a new bell ringer. So the priest put out an advertisement and soon enough there was a knock on the church door. The priest answered the door to a man who said he was there to apply for the position. The priest was shocked to see he had no arms. “I’m sorry sir,” he said, “But the position of bell ringer requires that you pull heavy bells with ropes,”
“I know I can do this!” The man cried. “Give me a chance!’
The priest replied, “I’m sorry, I don’t want to be offensive, but this job requires a person with two strong arms.”
“Please!” the man said. “I really need this job, just give me a chance. If I can’t do it I promise I’ll leave.”
Well the priest felt sorry for him, so he agreed to give him one chance. He led the way up to the tower where the big bells hung, wonder how this man would ever ring the bell.
The man took a look and the enormous heavy bell, backed up and ran full tilt at the bell, slammed into it with this body, and was flung through the arched opening as the bell traveled back. He flew through the air and hit the ground far below. The shocked priest ran down the stairs and out into the courtyard, where a crowd was beginning to gather,
“Oh no!” cried the priest. “This is all my fault!”, he said to a man standing by.
“What happened?” the man asked and the priest explained.
“What was his name?” the man asked.
“I don’t know his name,” the priest replied thoughtfully, “but his face rings a bell.”
LOL.
It’s a loooong set-up for a small joke!
Isn’t everything in life?
( 🙂 )
🙂 🙂 True enough!
The next day there was another knock at the church door. The priest opened it and was shocked to see another armless man applying for the job of bell-ringer. The priest explained about the tragedy that had happened the day before. The man argued with him and finally the priest agreed to five him a chance to ring the bell. They walked up the tower and once again, the man ran full tilt at the bell, slammed into it and was thrown through the opening by the force of the returning bell. Unable to believe what had happened for the second time, the priest ran downstairs to the square where a crowd was forming.
“I can’t believe this happened again!”, cried the priest.
“Did you know him?” a bystander asked?
“Well, I didn’t know his name,” the priest said thoughtully, “but he’s a dead ringer for his brother.”
A long, long pun which is called a groaner. So, maryl1, thanks for a first class groooooooaaaaaaaner.
🙂
That’s funny.
I aim to please 😉
Congrats mary1!
Mr. Yardam and Dudette…….you sure know how to serenade me to sweet bliss with your battle of the “music”. Keep it up, can’t sleep. After seeing that sourness puss face of Bloomberg. Why did he show up?we are so disgusted with his short ass. He really thinks that heirs the bomb. Just like that fool Gulliani…Bloomberg better not even think about running for president.
Chips, you are up late. How is the ankle? Absolutely no dancing! I don’t care if it is Friday.
Sorry LDS, there’s no stopping me!!
Dancing chicken!!1
😎
You dance exactly like a chicken.
You know Amk, that’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me 😆
truth speaker. that’s me.
make that truth teller. more alliterative.
i was trying to decide which of the ankles is the bad one, then i just figured it’s the one that’s up. yes? 🙂 hope you’re better miss chips!
Funny!
Do the funky chicken, now! Don’t stop till you get enough! Do it on the good foot, then!
Chips, you are too much.
Sleep well. Love you guys.
I watched this when the show was on and it was sweeeeeet to watch. Sister Simone was one second away from balding S.E. Cupp. Cupp is a jerk.
What is wrong with these stupid ass people who are talking about seceding from the U.S.? If our side had lost in the election I can just imagine what they would tell us if we were talking like that. So let me say this to those who want to secede, take a one way ticket on the next plane out of this country, and don’t look back, or come back..
Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY) has apparently had enough of the Republican games.
A House Foreign Affairs hearing went wild today, with Republicans accusing Obama of being worse than Watergate over their thus far fictional Benghazi conspiracies. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) said the President had “lied”. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-OH) joined Rohrabacher in accusing Obama of lying (still no proof or even a valid reason for this accusation). Other Republicans spent their time orating instead of asking questions of the witness, suggesting that this is really more about manufacturing a narrative than getting to the truth.
And then Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY) exploded:
Ackerman said, “The stench of hypocrisy that hangs over this city today emanates from this room. I’ve listened to my colleagues talk about the President of the United States and others in the administration using [the] terms ‘deliberate’, ‘lies’, ‘unmitigated gall’, ‘malfeasance,’ which is malicious and knowing evil-doing, ‘disgust’, ‘coverups’. If you want to know who is responsible in this town, buy yourself a mirror!”
He accused the Republicans of, according to NBC, having:
“the audacity to come here” when the administration requested, for worldwide security, “$440 million more than you guys wanted to provide. And the answer is that you damn didn’t provide it! You REDUCED what the administration asked for to protect these people. Ask not who the guilty party is, it’s you! It is us. It is this committee, and the things that we insist that we need have to cost money.”
He added, “Could you tell me which of my colleagues on this committee was as bodacious in their insistence that we provide more money for American security in the State Department budget. I would appreciate it.”
Go Gary.
woot!! love some gary ackerman! hope that’s the beginning of a trend–shut those rethugs up!
also, love the use of the word ‘stench’. 🙂
I heard that on one of the shows on MSNBC tonight – they had a clip. Bravo to him!
Yes, he really did speak the words that so many refuse to speak to these people with all of their hypocrisy. We will continue to give people like Rep. Ackerman encouraging and supportive emails and tweets while we also show our support.
I really do believe that if those of us we are supporting POB will use this term to speak out immediately when this type of hypocrisy is paraded in front of us, this will help tremendously. While visiting with my dear brother and other house guest, one person in particular who has great responsibility in working with some very important political figures expressed with great concern that it will be the people who worked to make sure that POB and VP Biden(one house guest met VPBiden personally) have all of our hands on deck in order to give them the needed support to fight the opposition with gusto.
I am committed to making sure that I put into my space daily prayers, meditations, and positive thoughts that will lead to good and supportive deeds to help POB. I have seen many times here within our family where some of our TOD family members ask, “How does POB do it, and most of alll
keep his head above it all?” In our discussion in my home during my guests
visit, we discussed how so many people have formed small and large groups within good solid faith communities to pray for POB and VPBiden daily. They actually meet and hold times of focusing on lifting both our president and vice-president up in prayer.
They also have groups who have quiet times and meditations times where they focus on such important things as: wisdom for POB; physical strength, physical protection; wisdom in his dealings with world leaders, his Cabinet and WH team; his family, SS Detail persons; our military men and women and their families protection and coming home from the war. They are actually taking small groups within the Congress and praying for certain things, in order to help POB in his second term.
I was told that these groups are so focused on every aspect of our beloved POB’s well-being that they personally take this “calling” very seriously that some have had their lives changed in such a positive manner. They are speaking into their space words of wisdom to be guided in their actions within their groups. They are serious. They are so organized, in that each group has notebooks with what they are meditating on and praying for POB so that they can track the blessings and process. They are prayer/meditation warriors. So I do believe that what we put into our daily space within our homes, here reaches out to POB’s space. We help him to keep going and walking with such strength. Let us not stop.
I was so moved by our conversation because I know the power of my faith, and I have seen so many wonderful things take place as we have all been together here. We will keep our spaces filled with hope, faith, and good thoughts, no matter what the negative people in the media etc., try to put out there daily.
My heart was so lifted up as these guests shared. Two of them know POB and they are fired up with good and positive work for him. It was such a sweet spirit within my home as we all visited and conversed with each other.
I have always had hope, but I am even more hopeful. So let us continue to support our TOD family here with our beautiful Chips and
listen, do our research, and fire back when appropriate to those who tend to want to tear down POB. I am so committed to doing my part. ((((((((( My love and healing hugs to my beautiful Chips for your ankle.))))))))))))))))))))))))))) I love you all so much. You are such an inspiration to my life. Thank you so much. LoveHZ
“I have always had hope, but I am even more hopeful.”
As am I, HZ.
Thank you for your expansive support of our President and your kindness to all of us.

Hello HZ, thank you for this beautiful letter. I too try as best I can to create a few minutes each day/night to Pray for President Obama, his family and his Administration.
I have never had this feeling of needing to pray for a politician ever but he is different. There is something about him that allows people from all over the World to want him to succeed and who care for him so deeply.
When you sit and just think about the forces that were and still are, to some extent, lined up against him, it makes one really understand how huge this win was this time around. I am sure he knows that we are all praying for him and I hope it gives him strength and courage to fight for what is right.
I am somewhat overcome with emotions after reading your post and I felt compelled to reply to you so please forgive my ramblings.
Bless you.
AMK, I wish every single Democrat would stand up and support Gary Ackerman. Shut the hypocrites down. Make them seem like the fools they are. This should be the theme of every Democrat who gets on any talk show.
HeH Chips, is this lawyer a friend of yours?
A Dublin lawyer died in poverty and many barristers of the city subscribed to a fund for his funeral.
The Lord Chief Justice of Orbury was asked to donate a shilling.
“Only a shilling?” said the Justice, “Only a shilling to bury an attorney? Here’s a guinea – go and bury 20 more of them.”
A one dollar bill met a twenty dollar bill and said, “Hey, where’ve you been? I haven’t seen you around here much.”
The twenty answered, “I’ve been hanging out at the casinos, went on a cruise and did the rounds of the ship, back to the United States for a while, went to a couple of baseball games, to the mall, that kind of stuff. How about you?”
The one dollar bill said, “You know, same old stuff … church, church, church.”
Ha! Thought you were gonna say “strip clubs, strip clubs, strip clubs”
Men wake up as good looking as they went to bed.
Women somewhat deteriorate during the night.
With that, I am outta here.
Not if they get up early when nobody’s watching and reapply their good looks before crawling back into bed before the naturally good-looking one wakes up. (Oops – giving away my ol’ trade secrets. Must be the wine. Hey, younger women, feel free to borrow.)
Well mates. The mid-watch is set and the Quarterdeck seems to be secure. Hopefully I’ll be up in time for morning colors. G’nite.
G’nite, Sparky!
SPARKY! I got your sparky alright!!!!
Ha! As if.
G’nite, Yardarm! (Better?)
Goodnight dear yardarm, goodnight everyone, goodnight dear Chipsticks and bless you for being such a blessing yourself. I’m going to listen once more to the Bach before I go to bed.
((((((((((((((( Lovely, Joan.)))))))))))))))))) Lots of love to you and your family.HZ
Rest well, sailor!!
Check out PBO’s old Senate website. I didn’t really pay attention to him that much when he was a senator, so I think this is kinda cool.
http://web.archive.org/web/20051127200912/http://obama.senate.gov/
Wow – he looked so young! It’s hard to believe this was just a few short years ago, and now he’s a two-term President. Fantastic!
Ok, just one more. (I promise, cross my non-existent heart).
A couple were married and, following the wedding, the husband laid down some rules.
“I’ll be home when I want, if I want, and at what time I want,” he insisted. “And, I don’t expect any hassle from you. Also, I expect a decent meal to be on the table every evening, unless I tell you otherwise. I’ll go hunting, fishing, boozing, and card-playing with my buddies whenever I want. Those are my rules,” he said. “Any comments?”
His new bride replied, “No, that’s fine with me. But, just so you understand, there’ll be sex here at seven o’clock every night … whether you’re here or not.”
////
wimmin/smh
Cheeky, but appropriate to the wife’s encounter with a fool. 😉
Bravo to the wife! The guy sounds like exactly the kind of male I’ve spent my entire male life avoiding! 😉
Looks like I’m the one left to tuck everyone in and read a bedtime story. Good night all! Sleep tight!
Maryl1, I will also help your do the tucking in as well. Good night to my beautiful TOD family. I am tearing up now, simply because I realize how blessed we all are here in our TOD family. I love you Ms. Chips and keep resting now. That is an order from Dr. HZ. ((((( Good Nite Everyone.)))))HZ
Watching the replay of Lawrence’s show. Don’t know who the Republican was that he showed a clip of, but the guy’s thinking on why they lost the election was priceless: “There are too many damn Democrats out there.”
And, with that gem, goodnight, TOD, from one of those damn Democrats. Chips – take care of yourself!
perfect! that’s exactly why we won the election–we’re the majority, we’re gaining new members all the time, and our people are smart enough to know that our vote is our voice. another way to put it is, rethugs are history!
And we smile.
🙂
We sure do, Jacqueline! 🙂
We have a fantastic team and we have much work to do in the next 4+ years to support our President and improve the quality of life for all Americans.
#TrustBarack
yes we do!
bloomberg article has lots of interesting detail about pbo’s upcoming trip to asia. pbo’s finger is on the pulse of global trends, so he can be way out ahead of events. brilliant leader, incredible breadth. rethugs are still squabbling over how they lost the election, and pbo just shifted to a higher level of international leadership, leaving them in the dirt.
‘ President Barack Obama aims to build trade ties with Asia on his first foreign trip since re- election, challenging China as island disputes leave the region more open to closer economic and military ties with the U.S.
Obama’s three-day trip includes visits to Thailand, which said this week it would join the U.S.-backed Trans-Pacific Partnership trade talks, and Myanmar, a former military regime bordering China that is hosting an American president for the first time. He also will stop in Cambodia for a regional summit including leaders from China, Japan and South Korea, which are all poised to get new governments in 2013.
“Clearly one of the objectives here is to force China to accept the U.S. rules of the game for integration in the region,” said John Ravenhill, a professor at Canberra-based Australian National University. “The Chinese are going to be torn by these geopolitical disputes and the desire to try to forge deeper integration with South Korea and Japan as a counterweight to any U.S.-led TPP.” ‘
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-11-15/obama-courts-asean-as-china-japan-tensions-rise-southeast-asia.html
PBO is breath-taking in his vision, reach, strategic thinking and planning, and in turning all of this into real-life accomplishments that have world-wide implications and results. To think that a bitter, out of touch old man, a carnival barker, and a clue-less liar would dare to try to school him on foreign policy, smh. Once again PBO demonstrates what it means to be a transformative leader. I am so thrilled and grateful to be alive to witness this.
Expect to see a bunch of tweets throughout Friday with #EndBushTaxCuts 🙂

Totally forgot about this mockery of a mascot of 2008 old nutter/tundra twit campaign. 76 to 20 points!!! woot, woot.

The final tally was kaptur 72.6% to 23.5%
Compare and contrast those photographs of President Obama in Staten Island with GW Bush eating cake and playing a guitar as the people of Hurricane Katrina suffered. You’ll see why we elected a compassionate and competent president in a landslide.

Did anyone see the Parks and Rec episode with VP Biden? How was it?
Precious Cargo 😉
oops that didn’t work…

Hahahahahahahahha. Thanks for this. It was hilarious. “You’d better take care of him. He is precious cargo!”
LMAO
Joe is terrific!! Let’s see if this works:
Nice!!! 😀
Joe is indeed quite handsome and charming!!
Thanks Meta! I thought this was so cute. VP Joe is so cool 😎
OMG guys you gotta see this pic of PBO – VERY FUNNY!
😆
lmao. Come on, Obama is not that mean.
So, this President must, he must reach out to the Republicans like never before.
He must be just like Thomas Jefferson, because Jefferson and John Adams never fought, they always got along and always worked together???
Oh, wait a minute…
Great tweet. RT’ed.
Oh, and please don’t take AF-1 and go to the People with the policy differences.
Nope! That’s a no-no…
They want the President to be maligned, with all the sausage making, and at the last minute, pull that rug out from underneath Him.
We have seen this movie before.
Yes the GOP and their GOPMedia are gearing up, BUT…things are different now – the electorate is savvier and knows all the dirty tricks that the GOP and their Republican arse-kissing Media use to try to undermine our President. We won’t allow them to drive the narrative and we will ignore them if they do. We have our President’s back this time!!
Good morning, TODville. All thoughts to our POTUS as he begins meetings with the leadership of the House and Senate on the fiscal cliff. This is going to be a master class on negotiation.
G’morning meta! Yes, can’t wait to see our President at his finest. 🙂
Good morning, hf!! Let’s see what the day brings!! I have every confidence in POTUS, Nancy Smash and Sen. Reid.
Good morning TOD!
Hey UT, have you got a link for this story? I have a friend who’s obsessed with Bradley Cooper. This will make her day!
..and here’s a nice video:
Bradley Cooper Talks About Meeting The Obamas – The Graham Norton Show – BBC One
I LOVE this!
He is absolutely delicious 🙂
It’s fun to see this guy, who is so famous and sought after, completely awestruck by POTUS and FLOTUS.
He talked about it this morning on Morning Joe. And he said he was very happy to have voted for Pres. Obama and very happy he won. You can go to http://www.nbcnews.com and look for the video if they’ve uploaded it on the Morning Joe page.
Found it! Thanks!

Morning:) Kind of busy yesterday…but I peeked in! Have you seen this from St. Ronnie? h/t to Political Carnival
Just a gentle ‘minder that there will be no “Last Word” tonight. MSNBC will be back with their Friday night/weekend “Lock Up” series. 😦
I thought I read LOD said he would be on tonight, one last Friday show.
You are RIGHT dotster!!!! My bad. 🙂 🙂
And Lawrence will be hosting!
Go to the corner! Hang your head! 🙂
Done! 😦
I will forever now think of VP Joe as “Precious Cargo”. I think this should become his official nickname. 🙂
Agreed!! He is soooooo smooth.
I was a lil bit afraid that the bot would choose her as the veep (woman, moderate, hispanic). Thank god, that entitled fucker and his snooty wife thought other wise and went with the ‘white power’.
That probably ticked her off too.
No better for her. Unfortunately she’s the governor of my state and I can’t stand this self-hating witch!
ATF poll: Majority will blame Republicans if all Bush tax cuts expire
// A new poll by Hart Research’s Geoff Garin, conducted for Americans for Tax Fairness – a group that wants the Bush-era tax cuts on earners over $250,000 to end – found that a majority of voters cited changing the tax system as a key factor in their votes, and that the majority broke for President Obama.
The survey also found that Democrats have changed the landscape on an issue that has eluded them for years – taxes. The survey found that has most want the Bush-era cuts on top earners to expire, but that Republicans will shoulder blame if all of the Bush cuts, including those on the middle class, expire because a deal can’t be reached. //

ANOTHER incredible behind-the-scenes story about the OFA engineering and technology team:
http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2012/11/when-the-nerds-go-marching-in/265325/
Just mind-bogglingly BRILLIANT.
I was about to post this from your tweet meta!! Thanks 🙂 This article is simply amazing – these nerds ROCK and have earned their place in America’s history.
This excerpt struck me:
“…But of course, he and his whole team of nerds were changed by the experience. They learned what it was like to have — and work with people who had — a higher purpose than building cool stuff. “Teddy [Goff] would tear up talking about the President. I would be like, ‘Yeah, that guy’s cool,'” Reed said. “It was only towards the end, the middle of 2012, when we realized the gravity of what we were doing.”…And losing, they felt more and more deeply as the campaign went on, would mean horrible things for the country. They started to worry about the next Supreme Court Justices while they coded. “
Great read, thanks Meta.
I thought it was amusing that Morning Joke & Co. were all really yukking it up with Bradley Cooper——until he said he voted for Obama—-and was happy about the election result. His segment ended within seconds after that.
Moooooooooorning everyone!
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/11/16/rise-and-shine-352/
And I’m always surprised when someone says the election was over so fast. I know that’s true, but it seemed like eons to me, wringing hands, suffering from extreme anxiety that night. And I also keep thinking about Tom Brokaw and the boys who kept predicting, “Heh, heh, heh—–we’re going to be up all night.” They were praying for a close election with Willard eking out a close win.
