Thanks for keeping the crazy people at bay, Chips. What a wonderful place you provide for the global community of Obamaphiles. I’m in awe of your generosity.

Dear Chips, heartfelt congratulations on the big 15M. It’s great that this wonderful Blog reached this
milestone in this monumental week of milestones…seeing our PRESIDENT re-elected. You have truly blessed
us with a remarkable space to play, be sad and also be happy. Your ardent support of PBO, the uplifting spirit
of the blog and your terrific sense of humour have helped to keep me sane and encouraged through this turbulent
election season. For this I am very grateful.

watching the keystone (pipeline) kops playing the exact same playbook so far (boner, mcconnell), makes me think it’s going to be a thing of beauty to watch these mental lightweights get knocked out by president obama. like mittbot, it’s incredible to see how stupid these republicans are.

Chips, the privilege of being just one of those 15 million is so mind blowing!!!! You are absolutely the BEST!!!! Thank you for creating this place and sticking with it. All you wonderful people who come here, we still have much to do to make sure Obama is able to continue his legacy and the Repubs are not allowed to block it all. We must continue to have his back. Looking forward to the next 4 years!!!!

I always think I can’t respect and love him more, and then everything changes.

      • November 8, 2012 at 8:47 pm

Seriously. PBO has evoked so many tears of joy in me during this election cycle.
The night of the first debate which left me upset, because of the disrespect Romney
displayed and the media’s reaction. I checked my email and clicked on one from the
president saying something like, “I hope I made you proud tonight”. I literally lost.
I couldn’t stop crying. It was heartbreaking that the media had to pile on him while
completely ignoring Mitt’s manic, jerky, dishonest performance. As this video shows
his heart, not just his intellect is in this fight. He is this young man who wants to make
a difference in the world, not for his ego or glory. That’s why he can say believably,
sincerely and tearfully that the outcome of this election couldn’t spoil the great work
that’s in motion. Thank You for the inspiration and all your sacrifices Mr. President.
We see you. We salute you. We cherish you and your family.

I don’t post often. Please, forgive the errors. If I read it again, I won’t post. LOL
Thank You Chips for the great work.
        Forward

You know Chica, part of the beauty of this blog is that even after 15 million hits you are still like a child with a new toy! šŸ˜† šŸ˜† šŸ˜† I go back up the thread to see if I’ve missed anything , and had to shake my head, rub my eyes and scroll down again to make sure I hadn’t somehow magically switched threads. šŸ˜€

And yes I too was tremendously touched by that video. Our president is such a genuine person, in and out, that his very genuineness reaches out to people, young and old. I would bet $10 000, if I had it, that MANY of the young people in that room are going to go on to do GREAT things, because THIS PRESIDENT virtually told them that’s what he sees in their future.

      I have never…..

      I have no words…..

      just amazing….

These past years that they have been trying to compare him to presidents past, in the future he will be the gold standard other presidents will be judged against.

I hope there are some who can rise to this standard.

I love that man soooooo much. You’re right LunarSea, he’s the standard by which all future presidents will be measured. Someone tweeted the other day about needing a chisel and a ride to Mt Rushmore. I’d shove a bunch of folks out of the way to ride in THAT bus.

  11. November 8, 2012 at 7:46 pm

Have had several positive responses to this … sorry for sharing again but hopefully it will be seen as a useful frame of reference for the reality created on 6 Nov 2012, as opposed to the alternate universe the GOP and #NEWSTAINERS continue to inhabit …

What dudes like McConnell, Boehner etc know is that President Obama is now the most daunting opponent they could ever imagine. He is no longer encumbered by running for office, ever. He has an enormous network of activists – US – and he knows he can bypass the MSN and work directly with us and the People to force the GOP to serve the interests of the majority of Americans.

The next four years are going to be intense and if folk think they’ve seen ‘Fired Up’ in our President – oh my, just remember he’s a ‘fourth quarter’ winner and we are just finishing the ‘second quarter,’ dear friends.

    #FORWARD Together

    • November 8, 2012 at 8:56 pm

I am going to support President Obama all the way to January 20, 2017 to his last seconds in office. The fight continues because the GOP has not learned yet that people DO NOT like their policies. What kills me if it had been Democrats obstructing they would have ALL been voted out of office yet the “safe” GOP house members like Boner remained in office. I told my friend that the electorate likes “THEIR” representative even if they are the source of obstruction, they only hate “OTHER” peoples representatives in other states. I was watching TeaNN and one of the pundits said people vote for obstruction and the other said NO how could that be? It’s true….the electorate VOTES for obstruction because they returned Boner and Cantor to the House even with an opposing candidate.

Thank You Chipstixs for creating a place that supports our President and helped him get re-elected and where we can come to hear the TRUTH and everything that PBO is doing for ALL people. I hate the MSM lies and their prostitution to gain viewers instead of informing the public. They will tell us anything as long as they can hear themselves talk not caring about the American people. ALL of them will sell us out to as long as THEY gain ratings…that goes for Ed Shultz, Rachel Madcow, LO, Tweety, and ALL the GOP Newstainers. The only people that support our President that is on the radio and teevee is Bashir, Rev Al, Stephanie Miller and Randi Rhodes. You will only get the truth from these folks. My good friend who first told me about candidate Barack Obama in January 2008 after he won Iowa, I gave him a 2nd look and NEVER LOOKED BACK. He told me, “Oh, he’s just another politican”. No, PBO is NOT just another politican…he REALLY CARES. He cares about the job he is doing, he will compromise with the devil-GOP but he won’t sell out the poor and middle-class. I may not agree with all that he does but I trust him, I know he has to make compromises in his 2nd term we all might not agree with and I accept HIS judgment before that of the stupid pundits and others. Forgive my mini-rant.

Thank you to all those that volunteered, gave money, knocked on doors, took people to the polls, and stood in long times in the heat, cold, wind, and those in NJ, NY, and victims of Sandy that lost everything yet got out there and voted. Thank You ALL.

This is precisely why they did not want him to reach this point, One Term More. He knew it, they knew it. And he never took his eye off the ball, he knew from long before he announced that he would face the ugliest side of human nature. But he took them on. He did it for us. He did it for his daughters. For his mother. For all our sons and daughters. So now, if they get in the way, they will be damned. And ironically, they damn themselves. He has seen it all along. We all are blessed for his vision.

        November 8, 2012 at 10:09 pm

Yep. He got into this for us. He saw a need for SOMEONE to do something BIG for us ( the folks with NO lobbyist) when he went to Chicago to be a community organizer and saw the limitations. He went to law school, went into politics with his eye on changing things at the state level and saw the limits there, then as a Senator and then OTHERS said he could do more as President and recruited him to seek higher office (I wish I could find the video of people chanting for him to run for President, I have not seen it since 2008. I hope someone finds it again or it becomes part of a documentary of “From Community Organizer to the making of a President”.

Amen, Bob. These guys are playing the old game with yesterday’s tools. They don’t know what’s going to hit him. PBO said in an interview that he should have taken the time to communicate more with the American people in his first two years. He is the quickest learner on the planet and that won’t happen again. We the people will be with him every step of the way in his second term.

      • November 8, 2012 at 10:51 pm

      November 8, 2012 at 9:41 pm

You know what struck me in this article? The writer seems an intelligent person who knows something about computers and organization, yet he i) throws his lot in with an untruthful and disorganized campaign and ii) admits he’d be upset if he discovered that had they got their system working they might have won. For me I can’t compute how at the end of the day, despite his seeming intelligence he’d still want an inept candidate to win. He didn’t seem to consider that If Mitt couldn’t choose competent people to run his campaign, he might have a similar problem as top dog?

      • 69 susanne
        November 8, 2012 at 11:21 pm

that is such an important point, vc. myth’s incompetence in the campaign, his inability to manage the disparate voices in his party, his unwillingness to speak hard truths, his fundamental dishonesty—just picture a president with those qualities and decide if you want to help myth get that job.

that’s why i’ve always been dubious about the supposed ‘genius’ of karl rove, of condi rice, of paul ryan for god’s sake. if they’re content to be republicans, they can’t be all that smart.

        • 70 vcprezofan2
          November 8, 2012 at 11:30 pm

Susanne, I would edit your last sentence a little bit and say ‘if they are content to be republicans UNDER THE CURRENT GOP LEADERSHIP, they can’t be all that smart.’ Accepted wisdom seems to be that Republicans of the pass were more reasonable, so I give them that. However, I would expect that a truly intelligent republican would stand away from the garbage going on in their party now, as Colin Powell and one or two others have done,

      Holy crap. This is huge.

We have been working on their human rights issues for a long time. They freed ‘what’shername’ who’d been locked up for so many years as a gesture of good will in response to all these efforts.

Goodness knows they have a very long way to go. But I think that for this to be his first trip in his newly minted 2nd term is an indicator that human rights in these outpost countries will be high on his list the next four years.

After these past 4 years there is no way you can convince me that a business background qualifies you to be president. Community Organizer is the way to go!

Okay, I knew it would happen, I spend several minutes pouring my heart and soul out, hit post, and find a new thread is open. (Am I sounding enough like VC there?) Anyway, it is not going to sit unread because I am bringing it here.

Chips, I know you , being the extremely modest person you are, have difficulty accepting compliments. But I want to add to what Donna mentioned upstairs. She gave a listing of all the achievements, either through donations or work hours, whatever, that have been made by people from TODville. And she was right.

The one thing we will never know is how much of that would have happened without your creating and maintiaining this site. Yes, a lot of people would still have donated money and a lot would still have volunteered hours. Personally, I don’t think the totals would have been the same without the encouragement, cajoling, calming down that people here provided for each other.

And just as important, as Donna mentioned, was that this became the go to place for correct information. I have no doubt that many potential Romney voters or non-voters were convinced to vote for PBO by members of TODville specifically because of information they found here that they would not have found elsewhere.

And additionally TOD became a sort of gateway drug. It was through here that many of usd other blogs we had no knowledge of before and where we went on a daily basis (after coming here first,of course).

Most importantly, we all knew, that no matter what our own individual circumstances were, no matter how much we were barraged from the utside, we could come here and find a home. And it wasn’t just that you provided a welcome (except for the underbelly of society) but that you did so so easily and with a sense of humor. When things got to you, and they did, you were wise enough to take a break and trusted us not to totally trash the place (although AMK and VC always tried).

And finally, you provided a forum for us not only in the comments, but allowed us to send you our own writings, inadequate as many of those might have been, and posted them.

We owe you a debt of gratitude that we can never repay. For what it is worth, I am going to be writing both to the campaign and the President to extol what you have done here. Who knows, maybe you will get a special invitation to be in a better place for the inauguration this time around.

Chips, as far as I am concerned, you are as much a hero of this reelection effort as Jim Messina, Plouffe and Axe. You have inspired, motivated, organized at a special level. I think I speak for everybody here when I say we love you and what you have done.

And we will still be with you for the next four years if you will have us.

    Now, where are the fireworks?

Thank you for this post. Thank all of you for always setting me straight. Chips, thank you isn’t enough for this site. You rock. I always wonder who you really are?

I will be in D.C. for the the inaugural (whether I get tickets our not) If sometime near that time there might be TOD followers in the area, I would love it if we could meet. Anyone up for that, or have a better idea?

You and Donna have really captured the essence of what our dear Chips has achieved and please know how much all you have done is appreciated, japa.

Chips, everyone, it should also be obvious that we have 4 years and 2 months in front of us in which our President and our fellow citizens are going to need every ounce of dedication, insight, creativity, nurturing camaraderie and focus we can muster to support him and Dems on key legislative and SCOTUS battles.

So, Chips, if you think you can sustain the effort, you’ve built an amazing ‘base.’ It is obviously not an accident 15 million clicks on http://www.theobamadiary.com have happened.

Just know that if you do proceed, whatever time I have I will certainly continue trying to contribute to the better America each of us wants to build, every day.

You are so right. The election is merely a stop on the long road still ahead of us. We, all of us, have to dedicate ourselves to helping this man govern as much as we did to get him re-elected. This means more grass-roots efforts, donating, talking to people, making sure the people who voted for him this year get out to vote in 2014. PBO said it when he was running in 2008, he can’t do this alone. Unfortunately, too many people felt that he could and became disappointed, disillusioned and angry when he didn’t. ANd I have a feeling Chips will be therand provide us this polace to coordinate, support and deciate ourselves.

I can’t say it any better than what has been said by others but I echo them. Simply THANK YOU!

    • November 8, 2012 at 9:04 pm

Japa, I really don’t know where to start replying to that, I’ve been – I’ll confess – an emotional wreck all week because of the stress and then joy of the election, and just as I was getting my composure back, you do this to me. In time, I will forgive you!

I genuinely can’t thank you enough for your beautiful words, I’ll sound like a broken record, but to this day I get way more out of the blog than I ever put in to it. ‘You people’ have informed and inspired me so much, and made me laugh every single day.

If I helped lift the spirits of even one PBO supporter and encouraged them to battle on when things were crap, then that’s a thrill for me, but most of the encouragement came from the amazing people who gather here, including you, all of them lifting everyone else when things got tough.

And all with wackily different personalties, which makes me smile endlessly!

No matter how hard I might try, I could never, ever find the words to describe how inspirational President Obama is to me. I truly feel blessed to be alive in his time.

When I was younger I was a hardcore leftie, but then I grew up. And realized progress can generally only be achieved incrementally, because there is so much opposition to it from the vested interests. So, I grew increasingly frustrated and disillusioned with my fellow lefties’ puritanical ‘all or absolutely nothing’ approach (see healthcare reform), which meant nothing was ever achieved at all. But they felt pure after the endless failures, in every part of the world, and that’s all that really mattered to them.

Then I read Dreams From My Father and The Audacity of Hope and I thought: I love this fella.

He wasn’t an idealogue, he just wanted to get things done, and understood that sometimes things could only be achieved inch by inch, but that we’d get there in the end if we fought hard enough.

      Well, the rest is history-making.

So, running a little corner of cyberpsace in his support has been a complete pleasure for me.

Thank YOU again Japa, you were one of the people who helped me chill the beep out after the first debate, when I honestly was in despair, and at times in the last few months when, I’ll confess, I thought PBO would lose.

As for Amk and VC wrecking the place – I know, but as Romney discovered about PBO, they’re just unstoppable.

Love ya Japa – and I mean that.

I reckon when you mention to OFA about TOD, you might suggest Chipsticks be invited to dance with both POTUS and FLOTUS, at the Inaugural ball, (despite her trying to say she might not be there!) {{{{{Japa}}}}}

‘I think I speak for everybody here when I say we love you and what you have done.’

Yep, you speak for me on this point, thank you.

The next four years part, I’m not so sure. See, when people here were bugging me that I had become a tad bit more anti-social than normal, I sort of said I’d be better after the President was re-elected; I can’t now go and extend the timeline, can I? Particularly since I did after the 2008 win.

Chips… You are a transformational person, and Obama is, as well. We’re putting a lot on him, and he seems ready to accept all we have to give him. That’s why he’s transformational – because he will take our burdens for us.

Deeply grateful for all you do, for all the photos (many of which make me weep)… For all the links, for connecting so many of us to each other.

This is a good week to search again – because some of the bookings from the Romney supporters will likely open up. I booked through magellanvacations.com – they get great deals and they will search a bunch of hotels with you, as long as you want, according to your criteria. You can also try homeaway.com for condo and house rentals (usually really great deals) – they were booked solid a while back, but you can check again.

      Isn’t she Our Chris’s wife.

Slate: What’s it like to shoot Obama with his family?
S.T.: He’s so much happier and more relaxed. I mean, I don’t know any of this for sure. But when he’s around his family, he seems the happiest that you ever see him. He and the first lady are so focused on each other. The way that they play off each other and get energy from each other… when I was shooting the president during the 2008 campaign I would watch them greet each other on stage and I used to text-message my boyfriend, now my husband: ā€œDo you love me as much as Barack loves Michelle?ā€ and he’d be like, ā€œProbably not, no.ā€

      LOL.

Slate: This will probably become the most iconic image you shot during this campaign. Before it was released on Tuesday night, were there other shots you thought would be your lasting images from 2012?

S.T.: There was the bear hug in Florida [taken when Obama was embraced and lifted off the floor by pizza shop owner Scott Van Duzer]. The bear hug, that was like one of these perfect moments: You’re standing in the right place, you have exactly the right lens, and you frame it perfectly. Everything just worked out. It was so shocking that I gasped out loud—I think you can hear me on the video—when he picked up the president. Afterwards we were all walking around in a daze, just like ā€œHe picked up the president.ā€ The president’s response was kind of amazing. If someone had picked me up I would have made a shocked face. He just shrugged his shoulders and looked at the head of his secret service detail.

And there is also a picture from Florida, of the president speaking with school children, and two in the back row are kissing.

Slate: I’ve seen that. Did you know when you shot it that you’d captured the kissing kids?

S.T.: Not until afterward. I showed [presidential adviser] Valerie Jarrett, and she made me show the president. Everyone on the campaign was like, ā€œThat’s hilarious, he’s going for it!ā€ ā€œKid’s got game!ā€

Slate: It’s interesting that the campaign chose an image of the two of them in such a private moment to celebrate such a public thing.

For some reason I was thinking about the part of the President’s acceptance speech that thanked FLOTUS, and I thought he is thanking her for supporting him in his dream to run for president to effect change for the american people, during all the hateful things said about them she kept her head high and perservered, keeping their girls grounded and happy. How FLOTUS embracsed her position as FL to support the troops & their families, and the health of america’s children. She blossomed in this position probably beyond the expectations of the public but not of his. He was confident and loves that people like her more than him and that she knows that it’s because she doesn’t have to make the tough decisions that make people question you. I love the fact that they truly LOVE each other….this is NOT fake. I know because both Malia and Sasha KNOWS and you can’t fool kids. I was watching FLOTUS and Malia holding hands, talking and walking and it reminded me of me and my Mom when I was that age. When most teen girls were fighting or hated their moms, I loved and respected my mom. We were not friends, we were mother and daughter. I watched the President and Sasha still his little girl but on the threshold of womanhood. We are so lucky to see TRUE family values which the GOP really hate that a Democrat is more family oriented then they could ever be.

      ———————————————————————————
      D,
I’m about to go speak to the crowd here in Chicago, but I wanted to thank you first. I want you to know that this wasn’t fate, and it wasn’t an accident. You made this happen. You organized yourselves block by block. You took ownership of this campaign five and ten dollars at a time. And when it wasn’t easy, you pressed forward.

I will spend the rest of my presidency honoring your support, and doing what I can to finish what we started. But I want you to take real pride, as I do, in how we got the chance in the first place. Today is the clearest proof yet that, against the odds, ordinary Americans can overcome powerful interests.

There’s a lot more work to do. But for right now: Thank you.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Allowing income tax rates to rise for wealthy Americans, and maintaining rates for the less affluent, would not hurt U.S. economic growth much in 2013, the Congressional Budget Office said on Thursday, stepping into a dispute between Republicans and Democrats over how to resolve the so-called “fiscal cliff.”

The report by the authoritative non-partisan arm of Congress is expected to fuel President Barack Obama’s demand for higher taxes on the rich, part of his proposal to avoid the full impact of the expiring tax cuts and across-the-board spending reductions set to begin in early 2013 unless Congress acts.

Republicans argue that any tax increases would be devastating to the economy, particularly to small businesses, and to U.S. employment rates.

They have held firm to their position that none of the cuts, which originated during the administration of President George W. Bush, should be allowed to expire.

The CBO said the tax hikes for the wealthy would reduce job growth by around 200,000 jobs, much less than the 700,000 in job losses claimed by Republican Speaker of the House John A. Boehner.

Obama has also stuck to his position, with the White House reiterating on Thursday that the president sees his election victory on Tuesday as an endorsement by voters of his view on higher taxes for the affluent.

“One of the messages that was sent by the American people throughout this campaign is … (they) clearly chose the president’s view of making sure that the wealthiest Americans are asked to do a little bit more in the context of reducing our deficit in a balanced way,” senior White House adviser David Plouffe said.

Celebrating 15 million hits seems like a good time to repost my thank you letter to Ms Chips, because I REALLY, REALLY WANTED TO COLLECT ā€˜Thank you, Chips’ IN AS MANY LANGUAGES AS ARE REPRESENTED BY VISITORS TO TODville. Last time only Amk, participated by adding his thank you in his first language, but I’m hoping more of you will. If someone else already used your first language, that’s fine, you still can/should/need to participate. Heck, we repeated a lot of GOP silliness during the campaign and the site survived. It will survive our gratitude.
    —————————————————

Dear Mayoress Chips: It’s the morning after, and though I’m somewhat blurry around the eyes, and the edges, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for myself and on behalf of some profoundly grateful TODobots.
Mayoress Chica, you have been unbelievably welcoming in this village you have created. You opened the gates wide, you defended the walls against attack, and you provided a (mostly peaceful) haven of love and support for the most historic leader most of us will see in our lifetimes. You have educated, nurtured, comforted, mediated, found and displayed lots of beautiful visuals, stirred our senses (ahem) …and tickled our funny bones, over and over again, AND ALL WHILE CARRYING ON YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE! You have given us a real live, and enduring, example of the expression ā€˜a labour of love’. Since your integrity prohibits our saying thanks in traditional ways – under the table, a luxury cruise, use of the company airplane, stocks and bonds, a gift to your granddaughter…. we are left with only words, so here goes.

A thousand thanks, from our hearts! VC

    With the greatest sincerity,
    VC – (presumptuous TODobot mouthpiece)
    ———————————————————————————————————-

TODobots, my life experience has been that it seems easier to ā€˜accept’ critical/harsh words than to accept praise with equanimity, so, so as not to discomfit Mayoress Chips too, too much, I’m suggesting we treat the above ā€˜letter’ like a petition. If you choose, please add your ā€˜Thank you’ IN YOUR LANGUAGE** and sign it, BUT DO NOT DO THEM ALL IN THE ā€˜REPLY’ SECTION OF THIS COMMENT. Spread them out wherever you enter the thread – for the fun of it. [See if we can make CC blush continuously ] .
You need only WRITE one ā€˜Thank you’ sentence and then sign it. She’ll get the fact that it covers all the above and more! (Of course, if Chips changes her mind about a ride in our company plane or any of the off the record thanks possible, she only has to let us know. šŸ˜‰

Ex: A thousand thanks, Ms Chips. – VC

** I added ā€˜in your language’, as a small (fun/) way of visually acknowledging our TODobots from around the world.

ps: Amk, will you repost your message on this thread (because I asked nicely)? Thanks

  50. November 8, 2012 at 9:10 pm

    Hi Chips, everyone,

When I read this article this morning …

    http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/comment/2012/11/obamas-political-intelligence.html#ixzz2Be7wshHd

…. it was like, that’s not Barack Obama, that’s not the person I’ve ever seen or heard. When listening to Barack Obama – when you hear not just the words, the phrases, but really listen to the modulations in his voice, at least for me, a deeply passionate, caring person emerges. Maybe that’s just me, and that’s fine. I’ve been wrong about a lot of stuff in my life.

But, the reason why I’m writing this comment is the temporal juxtaposition of that article and the video at that top of this thread appearing within hours, on the same day.

The person in that video is the Barack Obama that hugged a maligned Harvard Professor and has exhibited so many profound emotions, and most importantly, has placed himself in profoundly emotional settings – settings that Bush and Cheney avoided like the plague and would not allow Americans to see (e.g., our fallen returning home for the last time at Dover AFB).

Those tears streaming down the left side of his face in Iowa on Monday, those were the real deal, the only Barack Obama I’ve had the privilege to inhabit this planet at the same time.

So, just because someone is capable of being calm when faced with enormous challenges doesn’t mean they are any less passionate, doesn’t mean they live in some alternate reality, doesn’t mean they do not comprehend how divided America is, not just in its politics but in its core values. At least from my perspective, it means that they have the strength of character and burning commitment to LEAD, to place themselves at the front, take the hits, absorb the disappointments, and never whine. That’s not being ‘cool,’ detached, removed, whatever. That’s just being a expansively compassionate, marvelous Leader.

The Barack Obama in that video is the only Barack Obama I’ve ever heard, or seen.

    #FORWARD

Bob – I’m totally with you in your assessment of the article. People have heaped the “aloof” characteristic on President Obama, without even observing that he’s one of the most approachable, relatable, sensitive, caring people to ever enter the political arena. The comments this afternoon were pretty much saying the same – with people really saying how proud and in awe of this man who is President, and refuting the characterization in the article, as well as the nonsense that he didn’t have a resume before becoming President. He is an incredible person, and when he’s done with the presidency, he’s going to do even more amazing things, and he won’t have to deal with Congress or elections. We’re lucky to have encountered a person who is not cynical, and really believes in loving people and caring for them. He’s made it his life’s work.

It just made me cry. How can a guy like this is hated by half of America? Gosh… Anyway the past 4 years and the last few days is evidence to the fact that God is with him and he is going to go down in history as one of the top 3 presidents of USA. All the best Mr. President. God Bless You. May God Bless us all…

Chip, thank you so much for this work you are doing. It just means a lot to a lot of us. Thanks.

I’m slow in posting here but I want to thank Chips and the entire TOD family for creating a lively, engaged, positive and encouraging haven during this crazy lead-up to the election. It was always a pleasure to come here, mostly to read and enjoy the posts and pictures and to share the outrage at the “other side’s” arrogance and hypocrisy. You really helped me get through this and I am deeply appreciative!

Also — have to respond to lisalovesobama above — that is the most outrageous thing I have ever heard. To say you’re asleep when the President calls, especially on election night. It’s ignorant, arrogant and so unpatriotic, and so are they!

Hey there. Just checking in to see if it’s ok for me to post here now (just trying to abide by the rules of no new people…though I’m more of a lurker, been here for the last year, just not posting…til after Tuesday). Would so love to join the discussion as I’m a lone Obama Girl (well, besides my 5 1/2 year old daughter) in my neck of the woods.
Hope to be able to join the discussions!!

As Bill Clinton said… this is a a man who is “cool on the outside, but BURNS for America on the inside.” This is one of those rare occasions when that emotion spills out. His faith in the younger generation is a thing of beauty.

I never want to hear our President referred to as “aloof.”

This president always moves me, and astonishes me with his open heartedness. Despite all the nonsense he has had to put up with. His core is loving kindness and hopeful faith in the goodness of life and human beings.

I am incredibly moved by this expression by President Obama. You can see his true heartbeat: idealistic, open, encouraging, strong, humble. You can see that even when he didn’t know what he was doing (his words) as a young man, he knew who he was and he knew what was right. The vision and passion for justice and love has always been there. When that is your guiding star, you can’t go wrong.

I am so grateful that this man is my President. The country is so much better off and our future is brighter because he ran, won, and then won again. I am looking forward with optimism to the future and seeing how this President’s legacy grows and multiplies for generations to come.

Congratulations, Chipsticks, on attracting 15 million hits. I read Japa’s tribute to you and he said so well everything I feel about you and this site. As the saying goes, you get to know a person by the company he/she keeps. Your greatness is reflected in the people you’ve attracted to this site. There are some of the smartest, witty, and fun loving people. Your faith in, and commitment to, President Obama, shared by many brilliant people here, inspired me very much. It was through you that I was exposed to some of the most sane, caring and fearless people.

That video is breaking my heart in a good way. What a privilege it is to be alive now and to have him as a leader. The whole world loves him and yet he is humble and down to earth and kind and grateful. I hate to bring up Romney, but what a horrible thought that we could have ended up with that empty shell of a man instead of our great compassionate President. I am so grateful.

Congratulations Chipsticks on reaching 15 mill!!! What a woman. You also are a fearless leader. Thank you for everything. (even the toilet pics)

Very good idea – here is celebrating You , Chipsticks , in danish: ” mange tak! af hele mit hjerte, mange tak” i.e. ” thank You very much! from
deep down of my heart, thank You!”
Waugh! As suggested above – How You deserve a dance with the President.
