I don’t know yet if I’ll make it to the inauguration, but if I do you can look forward to some truly exceptional photos – like the ones I took last time.
This was probably the best – eat your heart out, Scout Tufankjian:
Although – and I shouldn’t boast – I got one of Sasha’s hands, and a third of Michelle too:
And this was Joe waving to me:
I also got Bush leaving DC – I wished him well, needless to say, while almost falling off the balcony with glee while I tried to focus:
And I managed to get about, oh, 97 shots of toilets – and you can never, ever have enough of them:
And I made a new friend in DC:
Then there was President-elect Obama, Denzil and me at the ‘We Are One’ concert – we were practically cheek-to-cheek we were so close:
I met President-elect Obama again next day, while walking down the street – you can see by his face that he recognized me from the concert:
More toilets:
Sadly, I also met some not-so-nice people. I’m a sports nut – so I was very offended:
More toilets:
The most impressive photos I took, though, were in the early hours after the inauguration:
…. and out the window of the cab on the way back to where I was staying:
It was a very good day/night. 😕
So, if I make it in January, you can anticipate more top class photography of this kind.
What hurts, though, after all of this, was that Pete Souza got the WH photographer’s job and not me. To this day, I will never understand why.
w00t
doo doo doo doo doo hmmm hhmmm
Congratd a4!
Right on alice – congrats!!
Out of the shadows, G’day ya’ll.
hey Yardarm
Way to go, Alice!!!
As Jodi Kantor would say – Hmmm……
Yup. Pres. Obama won BIG in Travis County. A very diverse county in all demographics.
and now, because I have the day off and am a Woman of Leisure today I think I’ll just go upstairs and take a wee snoo-
zzzzzzzzzzz
😉
You earned it.
322 baby!!!!
Romney campaign: We lost Florida
President Obama will win Florida when all votes are counted, judging from the makeup of the ballots still outstanding from heavily Democratic counties.

He sure is, meta … and should just stay there, forever!!!
BTW, everyone …. 332 not 322!!! 🙂
Error corrected 🙂
You are the “Man, Man,” part of a song by the late Solomon Burke……Let Me Wrap My Arms Around You.
Has that Romney campaign operative Told Karl Rove then? Turd Blossom takes these kind of things really, really hard.
OK, this bit in that article is delicious LOL!:
“The numbers in Florida show this was winnable,” Brett Doster, Florida advisor for Romney, said in a statement. “We thought based on our polling and range of organization that we had done what we needed to win. Obviously, we didn’t, and for that I and every other operative in Florida has a sick feeling that we left something on the table. I can assure you this won’t happen again.”
LOL … LOL: “I and every other operative in Florida has a sick feeling that we left something on the table.”
Oooh, I know, I know! Damn, too many things to list ….!
Yep, they left their dignity and morality on the table along with a steaming pile of bs ….
#FORWARD
The most glaring thing about this election is how Romney and the GOP convinced themselves that their caricature of President Obama was the real Barack Obama. It never occurred to them that he won the election in 2008 for a reason, and that he actually does have a lifetime of amazing and historic accomplishments, despite what they’ve sold to their rabid audiences. They lost because they didn’t take President Obama seriously, and they thought the electorate was too stupid, to lazy or apathetic, to cowed and/or simply racist.
President Obama, on the other hand, takes it all very seriously, and treats the electorate like the adults that they are. And while that faith in the electorate let him down in the first debate in thinking people would value his honesty and four years of solid substance over Romney’s “style” and lies – he persists.
Bless you for this. To me, this is what needed to be said. They underestimated Obama, the man. And, no matter how great the ground game, you cannot win with an idiot up front. Take note GOP
They could have won Florida AND Ohio and we still would have been over 270! That is what is called a whuppin’!!!
What does he mean “it won’t happen again.” The demographics in Florida would have to regress ten years. The Republican party would have to undergo a radical transformation to match the values and ethos of the 21rst century. Unless this Doster guy has the power to do both, he’s blowing smoke,
Not to mention that P. Rico passed on Tuesday for a statehood. It is a question of how fast that Island can become a nation now.
Good thing PBO didn’t listen to the folks with the Suffolk poll……heh, idiots.
This is just awesome. Thank you, Lady Chips.
Great pictures Chips, but where is the close up of you? I am sure you had somebody take a picture of you for posterity. How do we know you were really there? We want proof.
Japa, thank you for appreciating my unique photography talent. I do indeed have photos of me in DC last time – ravishing they are too – but I got a text from my boss today asking me to remind him why I took this week off, when it’s such a busy week in work. I said, ‘Oh, you know, needed to tend the garden and stuff’. So, ravishing as they are, it’s probably best not to post pics of myself, for fear he’ll stumble upon them in the Google. 🙂 Right, I’m off to eat – catch up very soon.
thanks for the photos–they perfectly capture the actual experience of being at a major event!! except for the jostling of crowds, and maybe the smell of all those portapotties.
I’m sure even the Obama portapotties are sweet smelling. (Or is that going too far? Well, sorry, I just love the guy!)
true that–our sh#t don’t stink!
🙂
I was in the Blue Ticket area near the Natnl Indian Museum and the first big video monitor which helped to actually see the pledge.
The feel of the crowd body to body and the elation is not captured here but it is in my mind and body memory forever more as well as the freezing feet memory. When walking through the street to get to our gate my daughter and I stayed hand in hand so we would not get separated as one thing you do not think of is when you are in such close proximity and you are not real tall you cannot see past the person next to you.
The thing about all those toilets is once we were in place for the Inauguration there was no way to have been able to make your way to the toilets anyhow. Everyone near me had to physically readjust when I would decide my feet were too cold and I needed to sit on the perch of my walking cane for awhile. There was no way to have gotten through that crowd for the toilet.
My experience was truly a once in a lifetime experience as my daughter no longer lives in DC and I do not think I could manage it again. I will be watching in the comfort of my livingroom this time around but I will be just as jubilent as the first time.
I love you Chips but your pictures are frighteningly disturbing and yet kind of appealing. 😆 What is your obsession with toilets? Paging Dr. Freud. 😉
Honest UT, I tried to psychoanalyze myself after the toilet pics. I think – and I could be wrong – that whenever I was bursting to go, I saw a line of 836,372 people for the toilets, so taking a pic of them somehow helped. Will Google now to see if this is common condition.
Chips, your photos are stunning!!! I too can’t imagine why you did not get that WH photographer job. 😀
Thank you Debz, stunning really is the only word 😆
Chips I enjoyed your photography album from 2008 inauguration. Sasha’s little orange-gloved hand was too cute! And I’m glad that VP Biden took the time to wave to you personally (while ignoring everyone and everything else)!! 🙂 🙂 I must say that the photos with the toilet scenery would make a nice screensaver gift for Willard.
4 years ago I had a ticket to a section towards the front of the Mall, but I decided this year just to go in early from the back, no ticket, and see where I land. Even with my coveted ticket I was really far from the action and depended on the big screens. I had to wait forever in a “line” that kind of disintegrated…..So I’m pretty sure I can just go on down and get almost as good a view.
Then some folks I know had tickets and ended up in a tunnel from which they only got out after everything was over – heads up to anyone going, do not enter any tunnels!!
4 years ago I had the extra special opportunity to go to the People’s Ball, the first one the President came to, where Beyonce sang “At Last,” there was Shakira and Stevie Wonder and Denzel Washington and Leonardo DiCaprio and I can’t remember who all. This year I was not one of the top top workers in the campaign (though I still did a LOT) so I don’t think I’ll get that chance again. I do hope to go to a ball and am allowing myself to think about a dress now that this is all signed, sealed and delivered.
thinking of a ball gown is almost better than wearing one!! have fun, elly, and thanks for the report.
Iowa here. Oh, how I longed for this day, when the endless election would finally be over and won by PBO, but…! We Iowans have been the center of attention for nearly two years now and I gotta say, you can get used to that. It’s quite inexplicable and very annoying why they focus on Iowa – but they do. Everyone came here and asked us what we thought and why. They pretended to be interested in our cities and our towns, our opinions and our background. And we got lots and lots of wonderful, memorable, photographic visits from PBO which was incredible. And now today – well, when it’s just us Iowans here alone – it just seems like something is missing. I doubt that PBO will come here again. I’m pretty sure Mitt NEVER will. Well, at least Thanksgiving is just around the corner…
I was so excited that PBO won Iowa again and by such a comfortable margin. I’m still effing PO’d at the Des Moines Register, but they do have some great analysis today about how PBO won Iowa: http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20121108/NEWS09/311080051/Turnout-operations-in-5-Iowa-counties-proved-critical-for-Obama?Iowa%20Politics%20Insider&nclick_check=1
I like this quote from the article: “…internal polling showed Obama up 6 to 8 percentage points in Iowa before the election, he said. “That’s why we kept saying, ‘We’re in great shape,’ ” Link said. “Iowa was never a question.”
And as they point out, we all recognized FLOTUS’s dress in the election night tweeted photo as the one she wore in Dubuque, IA back in August: http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20121108/NEWS09/311080059/-Four-More-Years-World-s-most-famous-retweet-traces-back-to-Iowa-campaign-trail?Iowa%20Politics%20Insider&nclick_check=1
Thanks for bearing with me. Back to my lurking and enjoying all the TOD photos of the Obamas everywhere but in Iowa.
I do think the Obamas really love Iowa for being the first people to believe in them and support them. And I think they selected that picture from the Dubuque rally was a deliberate shout-out to Iowa – they really looked like they enjoyed that rally (and the ice-cream afterwards). You guys did good!
Don’t worry. I hear Rubio is headed there soon. Plus, although he may not do it in 2016 (after all he is President and has a day job) I would expect him there in 2020 campaigning for whoever is the candidate the, And he just might make a stop there in 2016 as well, just not as many.
Not in the same league – a birthday bash for our awful GOP governor, ugh. Pass.
http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2012/11/08/birthday-cake-and-politics-branstad-bash-will-feature-rubio/article?nclick_check=1
hahahahha… you’re a crazy girl, Chips, and I love you for it! I sure hope you make it out there because these pics are the the BEST!
I am so grateful and thankful beyond words for our President, the first family, all who support them and, of course, for Chipsticks and all on this blog! There is one small, but not really small, thing I want to mention though. I really, really, really wish dems had voted in 2010. Republican redistricting has killed us in the house of representatives. For example, where I live in Omaha, NE (2nd district of Nebraska), Pres. Obama won in 2008. After the 2010 repub redistricting, they shifted things around for Douglas and Sarpy Counties (I live in Douglas County). John Ewing–a great brotha–would have made an awesome rep. for this district. Lee Terry has represented this district for years and years and done nothing. John Ewing won here in Douglas County but, because of the re-districting, Lee Terry held on to the seat. Just sayin’ ya’ll. I know all of us know here that every election counts. Unfortunately, our side as whole doesn’t always realize that or take it seriously enough. Repubs, on the other hand, vote every time out, no matter what.
We can’t change the past, but we can work harder for the future. We have another chance to change things in 2014. Personally, I think the 2010 defeat and the one coming for the GOP in 2014 were needed in order to educate the public on how important it is to elect the right people to represent them. Like the President said on Tuesday, elections matter. It’s not just about the President – it’s about the entire government. The GOP got this years ago, and have worked for 40 years to get their people in place – unfortunately for them, they’ve also lost their minds in the process and their own extreme actions and hubris are now driving them out of power for generations to come. The rest of society needs to now wake up and realize that the parties are different, and that what happens at the ballot affects people’s lives.
THIS!!!!!!!!!! you said it all, right there, theo! my only tiny addition: also too the local races, like state rep and county auditor and prosecutor. all those people make up the workforce of the party in power, which gives them the deep reach into our daily lives. it all matters, it all counts, and it is not going to change any time soon.
So true – more people have to sign up for these local government offices, especially people who actually believe in government, and don’t just want to use it to make money or to destroy government for ideological reasons.

OT, but fascinating:
“Former Kadima Chairman and Knesset member Tzipi Livni, who recently has been contemplating a return to politics, is strongly urging President Shimon Peres to leave his post immediately and announce that he will run for prime minister on behalf of the center-left camp.
Livni has been discussing the idea with Peres by phone and during meetings in his office. Former Kadima minister Haim Ramon has joined in the persuasion effort. Political sources with knowledge of these conversations assert that while Peres has not ruled out the option of running, nor has he acceded to the request.
Livni’s effort stems from the fact that she doesn’t feel comfortable with either of the political scenarios on the horizon: that she will be forced to be number two on a list headed by former prime minister Ehud Olmert (if he decides to jump back into the fray), or that she will run at the head of an independent list. On the other hand, she has no problem being Peres’ number two – if in fact he decides to run. Livni has been saying recently that the only way to topple Netanyahu and replace the current government is by unifying the center-left bloc.”

So, Chips, have scrolled through the photos a couple of times because your sense of humor is just so delightful!!! Thank you!!! 🙂
Excuse me Bob, are you calling my exquisite photos funny? 😯
I didn’t know you went to the inauguration, Chips.
Ah, I was indeed Squarepeg, blessed!
Chips, so many photos of Johns! Hmmm, were you carrying around that glass w/ pretty liquid & had to stay in close vicinity of, ahem, John? 🙂
I think she took them with Willard in mind — knowing that he would be running in 2012.
Was she going to throw the contents at Willard? 🙂
LMAO!!! Extine, you are baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad……
🙂 Baaaaaad: an acute condition that came over me very suddenly on Tuesday night at about 8:15pm EST. LOL! Not sure if Obamacare can completely cure it!
🙂 🙂 🙂
😳 Yes, Detective Xtine!
I was there on Inaugural Day too. It was so cold. I am either going to stay home this year or go to a friend’s condo that overlooks the parade route. I don’t think I want to be out in the cold again. Though it may be that I’m just a little chilly today. 🙂
my son lived in d.c. at the time, and volunteered for the inauguration committee. his job was standing way far from everything, helping folks who were wandering and didn’t know which way to the action. he said it was freeeeezing cold. i asked him what did he see, and he said: the portapotties. 🙂
Your poor son! LOL!
yeah, but he didn’t take pictures of them, so now i finally got to see his view!
You absolutely have to go to your friend’s condo – it will be historic! No need to freeze outside, but being in the city for the occasion will be fantastic!
I think you’re right. I will go to my friend’s home. You are right it’s historic and I will be sad if I miss it.
Lunch!
I won’t be there in body, but I will in spirit. And even though I’m an old guy, I weep when i see and hear this President, and I will weep with joy again when he is inaugurated. I know my granddaughter will have a much brighter country to grow up in, as a woman, as an American, because of President Obama and because the American people chose him again. When I am long gone, Americans will remember and read aout this election, this President, and the turn towards the good that happened because we chose him again.
So true, Bill. So true!

Rove: Obama suppressed the vote, encouraged Romney backers not to vote
By MAGGIE HABERMAN | 11/8/12 3:27 PM
Karl Rove explained his view of why President Obama won, on Fox News, via Dylan Byers:
You are kidding me???
Was that what he told his billionaires when they had that conference call this afternoon? LOL!
From what I hear, he told them what he wrote in WSJ: Obama ran a negative campagn and that’s what happened. LOL. They are sooooo mad!
Lordy Lord! They need some pills from Charles Krauthammer — he said on TV that he’d give prescriptions to whoever needed them! Start w/ the usual suspects Charles, then commit them to the nearest psych. ward! Don’t forget to swallow a few yourself!
They just can’t take responsibility for anything they do wrong, ever. It’s an emotional problem with them. Arrested Development. They all stopped growing at about age 4.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA……the psychosis is freaking unbelievable.
Someone should tell Karl Rove it’s too late for PROJECTION. Time to pack it in Turd Blossom.
I amazed that billionaires relied on Karl Rove to deliver the election. You think they would have learned a lesson from Rove’s math debacle in 2006. Remember he predicted a Republican landslide for Congress and ended up with a Democratic landslide.
“Rove: Obama suppressed the vote, encouraged Romney backers not to vote”
lolololol
Congratulations to Jovie and all the other hard-working staffers and volunteers at OFA-FL. Thanks for helping to keep FL in the “blue” column thereby increasing our President’s electoral and popular vote margin. 🙂
I wonder if it is official, and whats the holdup?
I’m seeing reports all over twitter that the Robney camp has officially conceded the state to Obama. I will wait to see official media reports.
Florida SOS has not declared victory! He has to sign it.
maybe robmey conceded, but rick scott will keep fiddling the tally (oops, sorry tally) till he gets the number his overlords paid him to produce.
Terry McCauliffe announces bid for Virginia Governor 2013.
Good for him. He was a good fundraising asset for Pres. Obama and seems to know the layout of Virginia. We most definitely don’t need anymore whacko republicans who think transvaginal probes are a sexy thing.
Hey Chips! I sent you a couple of summins to please pass along to amk. It’s his dirty stinking money that he’s been terrorizing me about. This was the scene yesterday at my house:
I could tell this is where it was headed. I saw amk polishing up his steel knuckles just last night…
Will The Right’s Fever Break? Ctd
By Andrew Sullivan
—————————-
I watched Fox last night. Every pore on Sean Hannity’s face quivered. He seemed close to tears at times. He blamed EdmundBurke1771Obama for a horribly negative campaign. He basically told the majority of Americans who voted for a president Hannity actually seems to believe is the worst in modern times that they will now deserve their enslaved state.
.
.
Yes, I watched for Schadenfreude purposes. These charlatans and money-grubbers have turned the broad tradition of Anglo-American conservatism into Southern Fried Fanaticism – and I wanted to see them crackle in their batter. They have replaced empirical doubt with unerring faith in an ideology that had its moment over thirty years ago and is barely relevant to the world we now live in. That faith has been cynically fused with fundamentalist religion to make it virtually impossible for the GOP to accept that women are the majority of voters in this country, that gay couples are equal to straight ones, that 11 million illegal immigrants simply cannot be expected to “self-deport” en masse by a regime of terrifying policing, that war is a last and not a first resort, that the debt we have is primarily a function of two things: George W. Bush’s presidency and the economic collapse his term ended with.
————————————–

huh. well i’m glad someone could stomach that cuz I know it wasn’t me. interesting though.
{Tagg get’s a real job! LOL!]:
Secret Service Leaves Romney
Marc Ambinder: “Of all the indignities involved in losing a presidential race, none is more stark than the sudden emptiness of your entourage. The Secret Service detail guarding Governor Romney since Feb 1. stood down quickly. He had ridden in a 15-car motorcade to the Intercontinental Hotel in Boston for his concession speech. He rode in a single-car motorcade back across the Charles River to Belmont. His son, Tagg, did the driving.”
“There is no formal guideline for the Secret Service agents in this situation; it’s up to the discretion of the detail leader, who usually consults with the local police to make sure that his protectee’s home won’t be overrun by protestors and supporters all of a sudden.”
“But the Service leaves quickly. No more motorcades. No more rope lines. No more bubbles. Familiar faces disappear, never to be seen again.”
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2012/11/08/secret_service_leaves_romney.html
😀 😀 😀
Thank you xtine!!!
LOL! Maybe “tomorrow, tomorrow” (or whatever Mitt said) I’ll be a nicer person! 🙂
This makes me happy. I don’t want any harm to come to Mitt or his posse, but taxpayers don’t need to fund one more second of that phony, lying character’s protection. He’s got ill-begotten millions that can support him, and many homes to hide in, if needed. I’m still smiling at the thought that those Romney’s will never ride in Marine One or Air Force One.
Maybe the other sons can learn the security business on the fly, & Ann could be their Sherrif or whatnot! Shoot he’s got a big family, tons of money to hire his own. Why do I get the feeling that SS couldn’t wait to get the heck out of there! LOL! Sorry, Theo, I’ll be a nicer person tomorrow … tomorrow, tomorrow, I mean!
Yep, agree w/ you, on taxpayer $$!
I think we have until Sunday to gloat, and then we’ll have to move on. Gloat away! 🙂
If they all don’t stop being asinine, can we extend that to Monday evening? 🙂
There’s a 100% chance that the asinine behavior will continue, and these loons probably don’t deserve more of our time than that. Jovie mentioned that the President is traveling next week – we can start looking forward to that..
i bet you’re right, xtine. they were up close, and saw and heard everything. those 47% remarks must have gotten to them, too!
excellent idea, xtine. they need to use their celebrity to do good in the world, because they’re, you know, really good, fine people.

I don’t know when I’ve read something in recent weeks that I’ve enjoyed more. No, really.
heh heh!
Chips, if you make it to the next inauguration, be sure to take more pictures of toilets. I don’t think you got enough last time.
Will do Uberfemme, that’s a promise/threat. 🙂
Sooooooooooooooooo Sweet!!!!!!!! 🙂
How much do you love the irony of that?
I am in awe – awe I say – of your photography skills. There is no subject that you cannot make interesting. Horse manure. Who would have thought. I have to look at all these pictures again, specially the one of Joe waving right at you.
Overseasgranny, I cannot thank you enough for acknowledging my photography brilliance, especially in the area of horse manure – a particular subject of interest for me.
Of course, not everyone can actually see this brilliance, even though I should be renamed Scout Souza, but I am truly grateful that you do.
If you would like hi-res versions of any my pics (including the horse manure one), just let me know – $250 each and they’re yours.
Thank you again, my friend.
How much for a collage of toilets? You know, there was a lovely book done of photos of Irish doors. Bet you could beat the sales on that with those colorful toilets. Think about it.
Why torture themselves watching Obama’s lead only grow with every remaining ballot counted? They want to end the pain right there and now.
Still waiting for Florida SOS!
Until they escape their alternate fantasy universe, they will become ever, ever more irrelevant.
How can they even achieve escape velocity?
They can’t. They are truly psychopathalogically disabled creatures …
Amen.
Great pics and ever greater commentary. Now I see where you get the energy to keep this amazing site going.
OH GOOD GOD!!!!!! With all that money he has, is he too cheap to give himself and his wife an extreme makeover. I mean WHOA!!!!!!!!!!
I hate to do this, but his wife reminds me of Dolly from Sanford and Son.
The ugly comes from within.
For some reason, I just can’t look away from that very last photo of Chips’ visit to the last Inauguration. It looks like maybe a parade of aliens from all the Sci Fi flicks I have ever seen. Or is it possible that your camera could capture what your eyes were seeing after all that liquid celebration??? 😆 If it cheers you up any, I think it’s a photo that Pete Souza could never hope to achive. 😆
“achieve” – darned liquid celebration on my end.
Funny how the mind processes things. I read it as achieve the first time and didn’t notice it until your correction.
“Is it possible that your camera could capture what your eyes were seeing after all that liquid celebration???”
Excuse me Muscatinegal? What are you alleging?
“I think it’s a photo that Pete Souza could never hope to achieve”
Ah, thanks!!!
😆
Tummy full?
Yes, Japa 😳
“I think it’s a photo that Pete Souza could never hope to achieve.”
So true 😀 😀
On a serious note, I have total admiration of the people of Iowa for how they cherish and support the President and his family. Suspect you folk may see him more than a few times in the future.
#FORWARD
Maybe …. if we imbibe a few then look at the pictures again? Hmmmm?
I’m without TV but I have a new roof.
And then I think of the Sandy victims and I tell myself to STFU.
Glad about your roof. I agree with your statement – we all really are lucky not to have been in that storm (or other big storms). Hope most of them are getting somewhat back to normal, at least as far as having power.
Hahahahahahahaaha! Love it!
Ok, y’all. This one right here made me tear up. Just seeing this crowd sing this song in Chicago election night………
the best of times!! i loved this moment, singing, dancing, crying, waving my arms with that wonderful crowd!! thanks for putting it here 🙂
[Wow, if they keep this up I might have to be a nicer person sooner! 🙂 ]:
Romney Shellshocked at Loss
Mitt Romney was “shellshocked” at losing the presidential race, an adviser tells CBS News.
“They thought intensity and enthusiasm were on their side this time — poll after poll showed Republicans were more motivated to vote than Democrats – and that would translate into votes for Romney. As a result, they believed the public/media polls were skewed — they thought those polls oversampled Democrats and didn’t reflect Republican enthusiasm. They based their own internal polls on turnout levels more favorable to Romney. That was a grave miscalculation, as they would see on election night.”
Said the adviser: “We went into the evening confident we had a good path to victory. I don’t think there was one person who saw this coming.”
Another staffer added: “There’s nothing worse than when you think you’re going to win, and you don’t. It was like a sucker punch.”
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2012/11/08/romney_shellshocked_at_loss.html
Their delusion is truly amazing.
Liars to the bitter end.
I read this earlier and couldn’t believe they were so clueless. They believed what they wanted to believe and refused to look outside their bubble. They must have assumed that white men constituted the whole universe.
It’s disgusting that they really thought that they SHOULD win after running such a dishonest and cynical campaign. What does that say about what they think about America and Americans? These Republicans didn’t learn from the McCain-Palin campaign, when they were prepared to let someone like Palin that close to the Oval Office (in fact, letting McCain that close to the Oval was criminal, as well). Clearly, these GOP are a low caliber of humans.
New post everyone:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/11/08/hey-we-stayed-together/
2 good articles
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/11/06/a-thrashing.html
But this second one was absolutely delicious 😉
“But for most of Tuesday night, there were not many reasons to cheer here in Boston. The news started out bad, with Barack Obama grabbing the key battleground states of New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, and it got progressively worse as the path for Mitt Romney to reach 270 electoral votes got slimmer and slimmer, with Michigan falling, then Minnesota, then Wisconsin.
At an exclusive backstage room for some of the most generous donors to the Romney campaign, Paul Ryan arrived to thank them for pulling together the millions of dollars that fueled the campaign. But the appearance of the popular congressman did little to lift the mood.
“It’s grim. People are in a state of shock,” said one person who was in the room. “We will keep the House, but the Senate is a fucking disaster.”

President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil
Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada

Did Julia have to be first on the list? Okay, I know she has a partner, and actually I love that she cares for our President, but seriously have you seen how she looks at him? Let’s send her a naughty mat in the mail!
These appear to be alphabetical by country, so she might not have been first, or the calls may have been made in alphabetical order.
But I agree, her adoring looks at him are not very statesman (statesperson?) like. She actually looks a little silly. Somebody should tell her. You’d think if she’s seen some of the pictures she would be embarrassed.
From Jan. 20, 2009:
This isn’t related to anything but my feelings. I taught class this morning, rejoiced with my colleagues, then was out and about, buying books form y grandkids, then grocery shopping. As I pulled up to the grocery store, I just felt this sudden lightness and brightness, and realized, “yes, Barack Obama IS president for the next four years. Life is good! I then realized what a load I had been carrying emotionally for the last four months. I had worked to alleviate that with donations, donations, donations…..and that helped. But today, I knew that those donations had made a difference in several important races. I just smiled to myself, and realized how good life is now. It has taken me 48 hours to confirm internally that YES, he won, and we are okay!
Thanks Chips for all the international pictures. Yes, the world is so relieved! It is so different and positive now traveling outside the U.S. as opposed to the 8 years GWB was in office……the world really thought we were stupid, just like that English paper said. Now, they know we are not stupid, and we are not consumed by hate.
I also liked the post about the reason PBO was elected was Values, not Demographics. We need to keep that in our minds, and spread that!
Carolyn,
I could write about the same feelings -that lightness of being- but your words expresses them more beautifullly.
We have the President we voted for, and that is a beautiful statement, a powerful fact.
Stay well.
Thank you so much Carolyn for expressing so well everything I am feeling. Obviously, like in life, I had some disappointments on Tuesday. I honestly expected AZ to elect Dr. Carmona U.S. Senator. I was also hoping for a Democratic majority in the House. Like you I am not buying the media hype about demographics. I doubt that if Herman Cain was the nominee of the GOP the demographics would have elected him president.
Carolyn, I feel exactly the same way. The constant anxiety, the work, the prayers. All of a sudden all the stress is lifted. It’s a different and happier world today. And if we feel this way, you can imagine how the president feels.
House Speaker John Boehner is laying down a marker in his negotiations with the White House over the pending fiscal cliff, telling ABC News that raising tax rates is “unacceptable.” Boehner: “If you’re increasing taxes on small-business people, it’s the wrong approach.” Boehner’s stance sets up a showdown with the White House, which is pushing for the expiration of the upper-income parts Bush tax cuts at the end of the year. Absent action from Congress, taxes will go up across the board on all income brackets.
Me thinks boner is going to let all the bush tax cuts expire, wakening the Presidents leverage.
Then, in march, when debt Ceiling needs to be raised, it will be the same as August 2011!
Bet?
Our President have some tough battle ahead, and he still will need our prayers.
Those crazy ass House Republicans are still around.
I think we will be needing to sign petitions, make phone calls, emails and letters again. Anyone know of a way to get past the not in their district problem we had before with House GOPs?
Love the horse pic!!

Maybe somebody has asked this already, but on the “baby killer” poster, is that partially obscured word on the sign “Mormons”???? If so, that’s quite interesting.
