OMG. What a night! My body is so so so sore from partying in front of the White House with hundreds of DC area college students. What fucking enthusiasm gap was the media talking about?!?! I wasn’t here on the blog last night, but I just caught up with all the comments. Thank you Chips for this wonderful safe haven for us. WE DID IT! ALL OF THIS WAS MADE POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE!
We sent a message last night — we will not tolerate hatred, we will not tolerate the purchase of our democracy from billionaires, and we will not be insulted by pathological liars. Our coalition held it down. Gallup, Suffolk, and all the pollsters who underestimated blacks, latinos, and young voters can go to hell!
Thanks ck!! The amazing work of OFA is one for the history books. I agree with you that a message has been sent, not only to the Republicans and their dirty-money funders, but also to their friends in the media who use their bullshitty propaganda and false memes to try to manipulate and obstruct democracy.
We have prevailed thus far, and we are moving FORWARD!!!
X2 hopefruit – and the best things – we now know you cannot buy the Presidency, nor can the pundits convince people to vote against their own best interests.
Thanks for all you did, and you did a lot. Two of my close family members, young people that should know better didn’t vote. One didn’t even register although I begged her to do so and reminded her often.
She could find time to go attach horse hair to her head and do her nails though.
The other one that I rented out my womb to for nine months said he would only vote if someone paid him. I told him to bring me a picture of him at the polls with his vote all marked and I’d give him the amount he requested; not a peep from him.
The money I was going to give him would have been his Christmas present. Now he is not getting a dime from me.
So, thanks again Collegekay. And thanks to the young people that were out last night at the White HOuse gates.
{{Miss Pat}} We cannot always choose who the members of our family will be, and we certainly cannot control their behaviour. IMO, we can only love them, (and sometimes we can only show that love in the ways they are willing to accept). Try to let it go. We won.
Good morning everyone. HELLO TOD!!! Oh thank you so much Chips!! Just scrolling down the post, I was reduced to tears by those amazing poignant pictures of victory!!! What a night! What a day! What a YEAR!
Good morning all! It is a great day. Exhausted after yesterday at the polls. I have to leave in a few minutes to take the keys to the Polling Site back. Plans to meet the manager at 10:00. Very proud of all of the GOTV efforts all over this country. Florida was a nail bitter for me. I live in a blue district but work in what was Allen Wests district now Patrick Murphy’s. Lois Frankel is now my congressional rep. I voted for her challenger in the Primary but, I am glad we added a blue seat in the House. This was a new district.
True. 538 did nothing for the campaign itself. He only analyzed existing polling data (something that many others did e.g., Sam Wang, JeffersonObama, etc).
Apart from the candidate himself, the bulk of the credit goes to the amazing OFA ground game and all the volunteers (ordinary folks, celebrities, DEM surrogates).
“Apart from the candidate himself, the bulk of the credit goes to the amazing OFA ground game and all the volunteers (ordinary folks, celebrities, DEM surrogates)”
!!!!!
I have to give tremendous credit to President Clinton. He went all out for us. I am grateful.
Someone wise said, “At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lit the flame within us.” I am so grateful to everyone at The Obama Diary. You have been an inspiration. Thank you!
I’m glad to be so close to the top today so I can say Congratulations to everyone here at TOD who worked so hard to make this happen. It’s just absolutely wonderful, isn’t it?
good morning chips. soooo happy and sooo tired. Got home from downtown Chicago about 2 last night. What a night! Looks like POTUS is leading in popular vote right now by about 2.5 million awesome voters.
LOL! Chuck Todd last night predicted that PBO would win PV by only 1-5 votes! I think the MSM was taken aback by the margin of victory…they were more predicting along the lines of Obama winning 290-250 EV, and losing the popular vote…something like that,
The Toad and the rest of the MSM will be working overtime to try to explain why they were so wrong. Their credibility and relevance is totally in the crapper.
Actually I couldn’t sleep! I was sooooo excited!!!! I did get about two hours of dozing off!!! I’ll be exhausted at work for sure!!! I can’t wait till lunch break to come on this site and check the latest news!!!!
Good Morning Chips and TOD family.
What a beautiful morning it is.
Thank you for this tremendous round up Chips. The First Family is stunning. I am so proud to be an American today.
And the photos from around the country are so emotional. More tears just now reliving that feeling from last night.
These are days that we’ll never forget.
God Bless our President and our Country.
Oh my goodness, I can not get enough of these pics! the images of the three Obama women (wife and 2 daughters) walking up to congratulate their husband/dad is just so great! I am so happy he has such a beautiful supportive and loving family to stand by him and love him. Can’t help but also t hink of those who have passed away too soon including Barack’s grandparents and mom and Michelle’s dad too.
Happy re-election, PBO and TOD!!! I fell off around 3am and woke up 5 hours later with the biggest hang over evah! The kicker? I haven’t touched alcohol in close to five weeks. I’m on a joy and celebration hangover! The headache from that is just as bad as the headache from drinking……. Where’s my aspirin?
Good morning all. I expect there will be a few folks showing up later than their normal times. A couple quick bits of trivia.
PBO becomes the first Dem President since FDR to win two times with more than 50% of the vote.
McCain holds on to his record of the largest loss in the Presidential election to someone with darker skin tones than John Boehner.
In a testament to the power of Chips, TOD had over 100,000 hits yesterday. Absolutely remarkable.
Illinois flipped 4 House seats from R to D. At least one state got it right.
4 states resisted the pull of bigotry when it comes to marriage equality.
The Dems from top to bottom have developed a spine (see Harry Reid’s comments right after the results became known).
Ms Chips Chica
Office of the Mayoress
TODville
WORLD
Dear Mayoress Chips:
It’s the morning after, and though I’m somewhat blurry around the eyes, and the edges, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for myself and on behalf of some profoundly grateful TODobots.
Mayoress Chica, you have been unbelievably welcoming in this village you have created. You opened the gates wide, you defended the walls against attack, and you provided a (mostly peaceful) haven of love and support for the most historic leader most of us will see in our lifetimes. You have educated, nurtured, comforted, mediated, found and displayed lots of beautiful visuals, stirred our senses (ahem) …and tickled our funny bones, over and over again, AND ALL WHILE CARRYING ON YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE! You have given us a real live, and enduring, example of the expression ‘a labour of love’. Since your integrity prohibits our saying thanks in traditional ways – under the table, a luxury cruise, use of the company airplane, stocks and bonds, a gift to your granddaughter…. we are left with only words, so here goes.
Go raibh mile maith agat ó mo chroí!
Mille fois merci!
¡Muchissimas gracias!
A thousand thanks, from our hearts!
With the greatest sincerity,
VC
(presumptuous TODobot mouthpiece)
———————————————————————————————————-
It is indeed a very, very beautiful day, and it would be even if it was snowing! 😆 GOOD MORNING, one and all!
TODobots, my life experience has been that it seems easier to ‘accept’ critical/harsh words than to accept praise with equanimity, so, so as not to discomfit Mayoress Chips too, too much, I’m suggesting we treat the above ‘letter’ like a petition. If you choose, please add your ‘Thank you’ IN YOUR LANGUAGE** and sign it, BUT DO NOT DO THEM ALL IN THE ‘REPLY’ SECTION OF THIS COMMENT. Spread them out as the day progresses – for the fun of it. [See if we can make CC blush ALL day. 😉 ] You need only WRITE one ‘Thank you’ sentence and then sign it. She’ll get the fact that it covers all the above and more! (Of course, if Chips changes her mind about a ride in our company plane or any of the off the record thanks possible, she only has to let us know. 😉 😉 )
Ex: A thousand thanks, Ms Chips. – VC 😀 😀 😀
** I added ‘in your language’, as a small (fun/) way of visually acknowledging our TODobots from around the world.
Still relishing my b’day gift. Many of US friends (I call them ABCD – America Borne Confused Desi) called up and offered the congrats. The fuckers of course forgot my b’day.
G’morning VC!! Your post should be front-paged. Even though Chips doesn’t like to acknowledge herself, everything you said is true and it’s coming from a regular and well-respected TODer! 🙂 🙂
GM, Hopefruit! You have been a treasure, and I’ve really enjoyed your welcoming comments to all door pushers/award winners, and appreciated your fierce protection of our President. 🙂
I just needed to put the feelings out there since CC won’t let us buy a gift for her granddaughter (or her grand-cat) and writing has always been my way of dealing with excessive emotion. If I let it (good or bad feeling) out by writing then I don’t have to try tamping it down, and that way it won’t explode. Purely selfish motive. 😆
I am so glad we all are not coming to a blog called “The Romney Diary” this morning. We all need to start a cheer for Chipsticks….”4 more years, 4 more years!”
Beautiful First Family!!! I hope PBO didn’t insist that the girls be in class (in Washington DC) first thing in the morning! But something tells me that he did… 🙂 🙂
Good morning TOD! Chips I wanted to add my thank you to all you’ve done for all of us. You are amazingly awesome! So elated we have POB for four more years.
Good morning Chips and fellow TODvillers. Thank you chips and fellow TODvillers for all your hard work to help re-elect one of the greatest presidents in history. Oh what a happy day.
Chips you are outstanding and relentless thank you for this oasis.
Thank you TOD. I don’t comment, but I know you are here and have been here for the long haul. I hope you are going to be here for at least the next 4 years.
Good moning folks and a big thank you to Chips for all she does. I cannot drink, one sip goes right to my head but I had to have two drinks last night to keep me sane.
I almost lost it but thanks to you guys I made it through the night.
I woke up to even better news. Romwho? conceeded. He had to. He consulted with his enablers and they gave him permission. Now, four more years of this awesome President. The best is yet to come.
Good Morning All! It is indeed a splendid, spectacular, amazing, awesome, beautiful day! I also agree, Chips, that this means even more than 2008. That was History, this is Legacy.
This is such a wonderful feeling, to be basking in this tremendous flow of history with Chips and everyone here. Thanks to everyone who worked this campaign to the bone, to everyone who contributed a dollar of their hard-earned money to our beloved President Obama, we have our bonds of dedication and victory!!!!
Barack Obama victory tweet becomes most retweeted ever
// Barack Obama has celebrated winning another term as US president by tweeting a photograph of himself hugging his wife, Michelle – which almost immediately became the most popular tweet of all time. The tweet, captioned “Four more years”, had been shared more than 400,000 times within a few hours of being posted, and marked as a favourite by more than 70,000. //
One of my friends last night said she was going to write a handwritten thank you note to President Obama for being our president. All night she was saying why does he want to work for so many dumb people who vote against their best interests but thankfully he looks beyond that and sees the best in all of us. So we all decided we were going to do the same – send a handwritten thank you to our re-elected President. 🙂
They threw EVERYTHING at the man. EVERY FUCKING THING. They said that he would be a one term president, they said they would be REBUKED, THROWN OUT, CHUCKED OUT, UNPOPULAR, DISLIKED. How they like us now? Oh, there’s gonna be some LONG faces today with many Republican older whiter voters in Georgia today. From what I saw last night in Boston, their faces were on the FLOOR!!!!
And me, I feel like funkin it up!!!!
HOT DAMN, President Barack Obama 2009-2017. Don’t it look good?
GOOD morning, family! Only slept maybe 3 hrs. But am on my way to see my mother……every Wed. Trip. I am at my coffee/potty stop and listening to Joe Madison. Father just called. He has a son at Univ. Of Mississippi. There was a riot there last night…….burning Obama/Biden signs, etc. had it been on the news? NO! Took Joe less than 30 seconds to find it. I am so thankful and feel so blessed but I am scared. There is a caller now from OK sharing what is in the news there—-revolution,etc. God, please protect our President and his family.
Donald Trump started that BS last night. He is becoming a danger to this country. My hubby and I talked last night and said we have to be careful even here in SC. It is sad, but I expected these things and Mississippi was one of the places we said we expected it at. I am telling you I am happy about Mitt Romney’s concession speech. He tried to signal to the base that he lost and it is time to come together. Some people are unreachable. In the South many of the pastors have been telling them that all kinds of things are going to happen to them if PBO was reelected. 2 steps forward and 1 step back I guess.
Don’t give that vitriolic, hate-consumed garbage the attention it seeks. Ignore and pity! These are the final, desperate squeals of the delusional haters before they fade away into a shameful history forever.
Michele Bachmann barely won in her district 50 to 49. All that money and a presidential candidate in the GOP primary and she barely beats a first time politician. I think she’s history in 2014.
Man I was hoping she lost. I was sad that Cantor won re-election as well, and Ryan. After all the lies Ryan told about that WI plant, I thought hew would lose his seat as well.
This is a wonderful day! I said it last night and I want to repeat my thanks to Chips and all the regulars on the blog who kept us going through thick and thin. This has been a great place . Thanks again so much.
I haven’t had a chance to read all comments yet, nor have I searched twitter so I’m not sure what the tone is there. I have a couple of comments to send McConnell/Boehner’s way, but I have made an executive decision to ignore those two completely today so that they do not impinge any further on my happiness. Tomorrow will be soon enough to send a barb their way. TODAY IS MY CELEBRATION DAY!
I heard ole Grandma-Gummy McConnell was sour-grapes when interviewed last night. Tacky old dried up jackass. Did anyone see it? (I know none of us WANT to see him!)
No Magapie, the unspoken decision today is that we don’t want to see or mention him them more than necessary. And, hey, they’re not really necessary – not today. 😉
Four more years! What a beautiful day it is for the country and the world. Congratulations Chipsticks and everyone else who have worked tirelessly to re-elect our President. Four more years of our President and this wonderful blog!
Chips, I still feel like I’m dreaming. But it’s the best dream I’ve ever had! Thank you so much for providing this refreshing, encouraging environment, thank you to all the my fabulous siblings in the TOD family. What a wonderful family. What a fabulous night.
Isn’t that the truth? That was a shameful endorsement, reportedly ordered from some conservative publisher, with no regard to the interests of its readers and the state of Iowa.
Good morning, Chips, everyone. Thank you again for all the love. It is better the second time around. The pics are so emotional, I start tearing all over again. This must be love because it flows like living waters. The picture of PBO and VP Biden just really says it all for me, pride, respect love, admiration. And then I hit the video of Louis Armstrong. It is cold and gray in NYC, but so warm inside. I am gng to take a bus ride and look up at the Empire State Building. We are expecting our first winter storm Athena today. But I can truly say, I’m feeling all right. I am looking FOWARD to these four years, the highs and the lows.
Our President has once again set the tone and I went to bed smiling because there were so many points that he hit on. Yes, we may have made him a better President but he has made me a better citizen. I can embrace my strengths along with my weaknesses by doing that I am becoming a better person. I am less judgmental of myself and others. I will separate myself from toxic and negative words, people and situations.
If that is not change, then….teach me teacher. I am willing to learn.
Thank you, everyone. See you at the Inauguartion! I would love to meet every one of you in person.
(Ms. Pat, breakfast at Sylvia’s?) I have wedding this Sat.,let me know.
Thanks for the last four years, Chips and here’s to 4 more. I know running this blog hasn’t been easy, especially during those dark days when all we were hearing was bad news I.e. “the economy isn’t growing,” ” health reform could be an over reach,” and on and on. Thanks for sticking through and shepherding us through the Tea Party revolution, The healthcare fight, the BP oil spill, 10.2% unemployment, and each incremental step towards progress we have made through the leadership of Barack Obama. Thank you for holding strong even when the headwinds were fierce and everyone else turned against our guy. Thanks for never giving up to the trolls and never giving up on us, crazy and rowdy though we sometimes may be. And thanks also for never giving up on you, because everyday you show yourself to be strong, determined and powerful in your own right. There aren’t many things I’m confident about, but I do know that the work isn’t over, there still are big fights to be had and that even as we reach for a bigger and brighter tomorrow, there will be some dark days ahead. I also know that these past 4 years has made us, TOD and PBO, stronger, tougher and more hopeful than ever. We, along with the president carry the scars, but we’ve also learned the lessons of the last 4 years: we will overcome if we stick together, no matter the storm clouds or the rain. And when all hope seems lost, we are always left standing, together, united in a common cause.
Adding my deep deep appreciation to chips for all the heroic efforts here, keeping us focused and marching forward, providing inspiration and humor and pick-me-ups when needed. And for the beautiful lineup here today. So thankful!
Boehner: Focus on ‘common ground’ to help avert fiscal cliff
Pete Kasperowicz

Boehner will deliver a statement Wednesday afternoon calling on both sides to focus on a solution on tax rates and…
Mornin’, jovie – and thanks for all of the work you did on the ground to secure a second term for President Obama and Vice President Biden! I really appreciate it!
Here’s Mariah Carey’s beautiful Obama tribute song. It’s the live audio, which was a performance at a fundraiser for the President. Oh, and she wrote it in one day.
Thank you to Chips and all the TOD family. This blog helped me through the tough spots and is still the best celebration of the triumph of excellence and love over hate.
The election of PBO was sweet but the re-election, in some ways , is even sweeter. No rewriting of hisory as Barack Obama as a mistake the American people corrected in his second campaign.
Our President is simply the best person to lead us, was 4 years ago and will be for 4 More Years!!
I am besides myself happy,.
Good Morning Chips and my TOD Family. It is a beautiful day on the westcoast again. Oh my, my!!!!!!!
We are so blessed in this nation to wake up to President Barack Obama as winner of another term as our most brilliant, handsome, loving, compassionate, and sexy president ever.
Thank you, Chips, Thank you Chips, Thank you, Chips for being here for all of us each step of the way. You have given us so much to be grateful for on this beautiful site that we call our ” beautiful haven of peace.”
You have lifted my spirit up each day of this journey. Now let us all enjoy this wonderful gift that Chips daily reminds of us, The Total Love, Support, and Respect to a Great man, our POTUS.
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( I love all of my TOD Family)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))HZ
// LONDON — He won, and the word “phew” trended worldwide on Twitter. Despite a hard-fought campaign in the United States, there was never any contest overseas. Gone are the days when President Barack Obama was seen as a youthful, messianic figure capable of magically curing the world’s woes. But he remains widely popular, and his triumph reassured many who feared an abrupt change in U.S. policy could spell trouble.
Even Tom McGrath, president of Republicans Abroad France, conceded: “It’s clear that if they could vote, Europe would vote 80 percent for Obama.” //
I want to tell the media this, because I am already hearing that the President has to learn to reach across the aisle and work with the other side if he wants to get anything done. As if they are putting the blame on the President for the gridlock in D.C. They are lying, because this President did try to work with the Republicans, it was the Republicans who decided not to work with him. As Barack and Michelle dance their first dance as President and First Lady,it was the Republicans who were sitting in some hotel room plotting against this President. So put the blame were it belong, on Mitch McConnell, and his house and senate Republicans. VP Biden even said that several Republican Senators who he work with in the Senate came to him and told him that they wouldn’t be able to work with the President. Why, because McConnell and the rest had decided to stick together against anything the President tried to do, even things they once supported. Now who is really to blame for the gridlock? The Republican Party.
I’ll give a more detailed look later, especially regarding our prediction challenge. For now, I think we can safely say that the following people had a good outcome: President Obama, Congressional Democrats, and quantitative poll analysts.
I can think of absolutely nothing that could have made this day any greater than it is ~ thank you everyone for reelecting this great man.. and thank you Chips, again, for all that you do here to provide us with the facts, the fun, the love.
I have the best feeling today- we have truly fulfilled what it means to be citizens, we have used good judgement, flexed our power as individuals united for the betterment of one another.. to know that POTUS is winning by over 2.5 million votes tells us everything about the Majority of we Americans- we know greatness, we know goodness and decency and we came together to protect it., and I have never loved my fellow countrymen/women more.
Up, up, and away to a another 4 years of great leadership in the WH for O folks and the rest of the world! It’s a great getting up day again all over the TOD planet!!! Here’s to Chips who provides the best forum for the O family. Here’s to the TODsters who actively and lurkerly participate in the family gatherings.
So now it’s on to getting #2 off to Spain tomorrow where she’ll spend the next year. She hung around in order to vote in person this time. Last time she had to do it absentee from school in DC. She’s taking newspapers with headlines of PBOs win with her to share with the people there.
Thanks to Chips and the TOD family for keeping me sane and providing a positive and supportive place for me to come and camp out over the past year. Love you guys!!
World leaders hail Obama’s victory, pledge cooperation
// PARIS: World leaders on Wednesday hailed President Barack Obama ‘s sweeping re-election, with allies pledging to deepen cooperation with the United States on fighting the world economic slump and maintaining security across the globe. Congratulations poured in from across the world, including fellow UN Security Council members Britain , China , France and Russia as well as its staunch Middle East ally Israel and Obama’s ancestral home in Kenya .
Russia President Vladimir Putin , whose relations with Washington have often been frosty, sent a telegram congratulating Obama on his victory over Republican challenger Mitt Romney . “We hope that the positive beginnings that have taken hold in Russian-US relations on the world arena will grow in the interests of international security and stability,” Russian news agencies quoted Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying. Moscow is ready to “go as far as the US administration is willing to go,” Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was quoted as saying by the RIA Novosti news agency .
In Beijing , Chinese President Hu Jintao , who himself is handing over power at a Communist Party congress starting this week, noted “positive progress” in Sino-US relations over the past four years despite tensions over issues such as trade and territorial disputes involving US allies.
China will “look to the future and make continuous efforts for fresh and greater progress in the building of the China-US cooperative partnership,” foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei told reporters…//
What a beautiful, beautiful morning my wonderful TOD family!!! Here is MT things are still on hold. Our Senate and Govenors race are to close to call. At the poll I was at we had so many provisionals that wouldn’t be counted untill today. We also had same day registration and voting which ended up being a 2 to 3 hour wait all afternoon and into the evening. Tester is ahead. I do believe he will win. I have to believe.
Good morning everyone. What a great day. First, Chips, once again thank you so much for providing this place for us. It feels so good to have an online family supporting PBO.
Second, although I have been up for hours, on only a few hours sleep it’s taken me awhile to sort through my emotions. This was NOT like 2008 for me. 2008 was solely about my belief in Obama the man. This time, it was much deeper in desperately wanting to preserve everything he has accomplished for us the last four years and that list is incredible, as so aptly demonstrated by Rachael Maddow on Monday night. The country has come so far in so many ways under PBO’s leadership. I would have been ill to see us lose these incredible accomplishments. I guess from that perspective, it also–for me–was about PBO’s legacy. I believe we can rest assured that with four more years of him leading us, these accomplishments will be firmly cemented in the American electorate. By 2016 the Repubs will not be able to run on a platform of undoing what was accomplished. For that, my thanks to each of you who so worked to make this happen. Since I began to support PBO when he first announced, for me this was all about the future for my daughter and granddaughter. I am confident there future will be much brighter than I was in early 2008.
In late spring, the backroom number crunchers who powered Barack Obama’s campaign to victory noticed that George Clooney had an almost gravitational tug on West Coast females ages 40 to 49. The women were far and away the single demographic group most likely to hand over cash, for a chance to dine in Hollywood with Clooney — and Obama.
So as they did with all the other data collected, stored and analyzed in the two-year drive for re-election, Obama’s top campaign aides decided to put this insight to use. They sought out an East Coast celebrity who had similar appeal among the same demographic, aiming to replicate the millions of dollars produced by the Clooney contest. “We were blessed with an overflowing menu of options, but we chose Sarah Jessica Parker,” explains a senior campaign adviser. And so the next Dinner with Barack contest was born: a chance to eat at Parker’s West Village brownstone.
For the general public, there was no way to know that the idea for the Parker contest had come from a data-mining discovery about some supporters: affection for contests, small dinners and celebrity. But from the beginning, campaign manager Jim Messina had promised a totally different, metric-driven kind of campaign in which politics was the goal but political instincts might not be the means. “We are going to measure every single thing in this campaign,” he said after taking the job. He hired an analytics department five times as large as that of the 2008 operation, with an official “chief scientist” for the Chicago headquarters named Rayid Ghani, who in a previous life crunched huge data sets to, among other things, maximize the efficiency of supermarket sales promotions.
Exactly what that team of dozens of data crunchers was doing, however, was a closely held secret. “They are our nuclear codes,” campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt would say when asked about the efforts. Around the office, data-mining experiments were given mysterious code names such as Narwhal and Dreamcatcher. The team even worked at a remove from the rest of the campaign staff, setting up shop in a windowless room at the north end of the vast headquarters office. The “scientists” created regular briefings on their work for the President and top aides in the White House’s Roosevelt Room, but public details were in short supply as the campaign guarded what it believed to be its biggest institutional advantage over Mitt Romney’s campaign: its data.
Damn, damn, damn…words fail me at this point, but I will say that this is a model for the history books. Future campaigns (of any party) will be using this as the primer on how to run an election campaign in the 21st century.
Chips, thank you. And thanks for starting out this day with a series of wonderful pictures, especially the first couple in a warm embrace. She does indeed have her husband’s back.
Thanks ut. A fantastic read. The smartest campaign team evah.

OMG, This is so fantastic!!!! I had just checked and it was still undecided. This really proves money isn’t everything!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to all of us who have worked so hard for this day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s nice of you to care about Elisabeth, but I hope her head (metaphorically) exploded last night along with Karl Rove, and if I never see her again, it will be too soon.
Speaking of the View, I was very much surprised by what Barbara Walters had to say about Obama winning a second term. She seemed very negative in siting historically that presidents have a harder time with scandal their second term and mentioned his daughters being ripe for scandal given they would be teenagers. The tone was so negative.
can’t wait to see what president obama has in store for dealing with house republicans this time. he probably had a good sense they’d keep the house, and we know he has a plan, especially without having to worry about re-election this time. should be masterful.
and if you haven’t seen this, imagine this scene repeating in 2016 on a national level. if she wants it, i think elizabeth warren can become america’s first female president.
john kerry from boston introduced barack obama to the world, and now barack obama has introduced elizabeth warren of boston to the world! she’s a perfect person to carry on president obama’s work.
Her thank you letter was lovely as well!
Last night was YOUR night. This victory is YOUR victory.
This was a campaign that broke records — raising money from more small donors than any Senate campaign in the history of the country. Knocking on more doors than any campaign in the history of Massachusetts. An amazing campaign.
And let me be perfectly clear: I didn’t build that. You did.
You did what everyone thought was impossible: You taught a scrappy first time candidate how to get in the ring and win.
You took on the Wall Street banks and the powerful interests and let them know, you want a Senator who will always fight for the middle class.
And despite all the odds, you elected the first woman Senator in the history of Massachusetts.
All of you — all of you — had my back, and I will always have yours.
And to everyone who shared your hopes and dreams with me and put your faith in my ability to fight for you, I want you to know this: I will never forget. I will always carry your stories with me in my heart.
And I won’t just be your Senator, I will also be your champion.
Folks get your cellphones out – I wanna know: Has Barack Obama won a 2nd term as President? Text “A” for yes, “B” for no. We’ll bring you the results at the end of the hour.
Dear People of America,
Do not even think of trying to steal my joy during President Obama’s second term.
Dear White Voters of America, of which I am one,
If it’s true only 39% of us voted for PBO, then I’m proud to be part of the 39% and I’m buyin’ the t-shirt. Get over yourselves.
Dear Older Voters on Social Security and Medicare, of which I am one, but who didn’t vote Obama,
Enjoy your earned benefits, because we’ve given you another four years of ’em. Good luck livin’ with your adult kids after that.
Dear Southern Voters who chose the loser,
The Civil War is over. Go to the lie-berry and read a book about it. Stop at the reference desk; they’ll help you find the book.
Dear Chris Matthews,
No, the current President did not have to thank former Pres. Clinton during his speech last night. Read my lips, Chris: R-E-T-I-R-E.
Dear Ed Schultz,
No, you and your fellow lefties do not get to spell out our President’s agenda for the next four years. S-T-I-C-K-W-I-T-H-R-A-D-I-O.
Dear O’friends from Canada and France who called me last night,
Thank you for getting it – and for helping me keep my sanity here in America.
Dear Chips,
I cannot thank you enough for your commitment to keep TOD going for another four years. It was the fourth nicest thing that “happened to me” in the last 48 hours.
Dear Granddaughters in IL, TN and FL,
Thank you for sharing our victory with me last night. The future is yours!
Dear toddler Great Grandson,
Thank you for learning how to say “O-ba-ma,” in your sweet little voice, and for saying it when he was re-elected!
Dear President Obama and Vice President Biden and your families,
I’m speechless. Well, not really, but I’m giving you a day off.
It’s true that only 39% of whites in America voted for PBO. But I would wager that 90% of whites in the International community would have voted for him. The issue rests primarily with those in the American SOUTH.
Beautiful Jacqueline ~ love every word you wrote… stealing this part (if its okay?) to tweet: Dear People of America,
Do not even think of trying to steal my joy during President Obama’s second term
Wow JO! you poured your heart out and the truth came out flowing like a mighty river. Thank you for this comment. By the way, more than 39% of whites in VT, RI, CT, MA, ME, NH, NY, NJ, PA, MD, DE, IL, MI, WI, IA, MN, OH, CO, CA, OR, WA, and NV voted for the President. It’s the Confederate South that refuses to give up on the doctrine of “white supremacy” that distorts white support for the President. People forget to point out that most of the states the President did badly in (AL, GA, LA, MS, AR, TX, TN, KY) also happen to have the highest percentage of African Americans. Besides, since the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, no Democratic presidential candidate has won the majority of white voters.
Good morning TODville! Delurking to celebrate this BEAUTIFUL DAY as we wake up knowing that the re-election of President Barack Hussein Obama was not a dream and there were so many of us who voted in such large numbers the Rethugs could not steal this election. Every person in my friends/family circle voted for PBO, even some of the young people I didn’t think would GOTV. PBO inspired that action just as he did in 2008. I watched them all cheer him on via Facebook and Twitter.
THANK YOU X 1,000,000 CHIPS for this special sane island in the universe of the crazy and misinformed. I do not know what I would have ever done for the past few years without TOD and this wonderful community. Looking forward to the next 4 years with all of you.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
Good Happy Late Morning to All…..I just want to THANK EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU ALL with a special shout out to BWD who led me here and Chips who kept me here…YOU have taught me so much because of your love and respect for PRESIDENT Barack Hussein Obama and because of MY love and respect for PRESIDENT Barack Hussein Obama I have been open to learn…..I am such a better person because of all of you.
As always, chipsticks, your photos are the best. I am in tears….just…gratitude on this beautiful morning in America. Thank you for being a safe haven for me to come to each and every day. Looking forward to four more years of this fantastic blog where I get to check in with our Potus and Flotus and their beautiful daughters….we will see Malia graduate high school! Love this family so much!
Thank you Chips and TOD Family. So much to be thankful for today.
I am so proud of Maryland.
The thrill of my Granddaughter voting for the first time at school in NH, my daughter and two sons all voting with me.
I am a happy woman to be alive during this time in America.
Love you guys.
Let me add my thanks to Chipsticks and all the hard working members of TOD family for contributing in the President winning re-election. What I loved most was the fact that most people here never lost their nerves or their faith in the President. I especially want to thank all the volunteers, fundraisers and twitter warriors. This election showed that people united can overcome the power of the moneyed elite and the unethical media. Thanks for a job well done.
Chip, thank you for all that you have done in assuring President Obama`s re-election.
Yes thank you Chips for giving us a place of sanity, and a place to celebrate the accomplishments each and every day of our wonderful President!
DITTO!!
Again, good morning.
It really is a wonderful day!!
Four more years
Looking forward to TOD for the next 4 yrs, I hope Chips you are ok with this.
Thank you.
It’s a bloody good day to be on Team Obama!!!!!
Yes it is!!!!! Morning UT, morning everyone!
We won.
I did. All forgiven and forgotten.
OMG – how AWESOME for you!!!! SQUEEEEEELICIOUS!!
Good morning everyone. HELLO TOD!!! Oh thank you so much Chips!! Just scrolling down the post, I was reduced to tears by those amazing poignant pictures of victory!!! What a night! What a day! What a YEAR!
#Forward
Morning!!!!!!!!
Awwwwww…look at them. What a blessing. I am looking forward to 4 more. Thanks again Chips.
What a night. I could not have been happier
Morning folks, what an awesome day.
Yes, Clinton was a fantastic surrogate, and deserves a lot of gratitude!
GOOD MORNING CHIPS AND TOD, Definitely happy to start this new day.
Morning Jackie!!! Tell me last night wasn’t a dream? 🙂
No, Chips, we are all wide awake now, and that’s a fact! 🙂
Thanks Pamela, just wanted to be sure! 🙂
Am watching Stephanie Miller on Current TV and she and her crew are so hilarious! They have just cracked on Fox ‘news’. LOL!
Someone wise said, “At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lit the flame within us.” I am so grateful to everyone at The Obama Diary. You have been an inspiration. Thank you!
Beautiful, and good, great morning TOD, and chips 😀
I’m glad to be so close to the top today so I can say Congratulations to everyone here at TOD who worked so hard to make this happen. It’s just absolutely wonderful, isn’t it?
Good morning all, well done and Congratulations! Chipsticks, you are the finest! Away I go, will be in and out as usual! Forward….
good morning chips. soooo happy and sooo tired. Got home from downtown Chicago about 2 last night. What a night! Looks like POTUS is leading in popular vote right now by about 2.5 million awesome voters.
LOL! Chuck Todd last night predicted that PBO would win PV by only 1-5 votes! I think the MSM was taken aback by the margin of victory…they were more predicting along the lines of Obama winning 290-250 EV, and losing the popular vote…something like that,
Chipsticks those pictures are so precious..
Remember what Chuck Todd kept saying, there was a enthusiasm gap. We show him didn’t we.
The Toad and the rest of the MSM will be working overtime to try to explain why they were so wrong. Their credibility and relevance is totally in the crapper.
I love this picture of our President and First Lady. 4 More Years. I love what he said last night, about FLOTUS during his speech.
I have not slept! I am feeling soooooooo good!
I love it when I wake up in the morning and Barack Obama is President!!!!! Whoa hooooo!!!!!!
Actually I couldn’t sleep! I was sooooo excited!!!! I did get about two hours of dozing off!!! I’ll be exhausted at work for sure!!! I can’t wait till lunch break to come on this site and check the latest news!!!!
Thanks for the pictures Chips.
VP Biden is just…oh my goodness. I LOVE LOVE LOVE our VP Joe!!! 🙂 This is one team I will surely miss after 2017 – regardless of who is president!!
hopefruit2, I agree 100%
I think the world of VP Biden.
Obama/Biden 4 more years
Oh my goodness, I can not get enough of these pics! the images of the three Obama women (wife and 2 daughters) walking up to congratulate their husband/dad is just so great!
Keep staying away from those alcohol hangovers and keep it up with those joy headaches! Happy re-election to you too!
And all trends are pointed FORWARD.
GM japa. Great job getting rid of that punk deadbeat.
Also. Too. MN flipped the house and senate.
Morning Chips. Great pics. Loved that empire state building in blue. Saw it on teann as they were running the EV’s.
Great work OFA volunteers.
Jovie must be exhausted today. But it looks like PBO will be declared the winner in FL by the end of the day.

That’s beautiful, vc.
Per your order.
Nanri Chips. 🙂
Alo! Nanbaa!
(No, I did not Google!).
Oh man, another (hidden) talent! 😆
LOL.
Alo. Nanbi.
Really, I had the greatest fun here. For that, I blame you.
நன்றி Chips. 🙂
GA, Amk!
Still examining your b-day gift, turning it around and around, up and down, and every which way while smiling? 😀 😀
GA ? It’s GT time here, vc. 🙂
Still relishing my b’day gift. Many of US friends (I call them ABCD – America Borne Confused Desi) called up and offered the congrats. The fuckers of course forgot my b’day.
😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
Happily for them, you are in a forgiving mood – right? Give them another chance – next year there will be no election to short circuit their memory.
I am gonna kill those fuckers.
🙄 Such language! I’m going to have to ask LisaLoves if she is still praying.
You’re a hooooooooooooooooooooooot VC!!! 😆 Thank you!!! What a wonderful trip!
{{{{Chips Chica}}}}
G’morning VC!! Your post should be front-paged. Even though Chips doesn’t like to acknowledge herself, everything you said is true and it’s coming from a regular and well-respected TODer! 🙂 🙂
+1.
PV lead now 2.6 million. And west is still counting. I predict 2.5% PV margin.
But something tells me that he did… 🙂 🙂
He wrote a note excusing them from school today – just like in ’08 🙂
Yes, I’m sure he wanted to share this morning and day with them.
4 More Years for our Lovely First Family.
Sunrise over the United States of America.
Good FABULOUS morning everyone!!! I slept “as murdered” as my friend’s Russian immigrant wife likes to say!
Hey guys, didn’t Bachman lose?
No she won. 🙄
That’s unfortunate. Maybe she’ll be more reasonable.
i read not to long ago that she won……..how extremely sad.
To the best candidate that I have ever seen in my lifetime and to the best campaign team in the history of politics THANK YOU!!!!
Now I must go to work 😦
Have a great O’Day Everyone!!!!
Have a GREAT DAY, Donna!!
Have a good day, just leaving myself.
Great job. donna. Thanks a million.
Forward folks.
Good Morning All! It is indeed a splendid, spectacular, amazing, awesome, beautiful day! I also agree, Chips, that this means even more than 2008. That was History, this is Legacy.
Well said, pj, well said! Thank you for that, Legacy. So so true.
GREAT GOOD MORNING, TODVILLE!!!!
Repost. GO RT the original PBO tweet.
Wow!!
Fantastic, isn’t it ?
So, so, so many astonishing things to drink in this morning. WOW. I’m stunned!!
Yes Bo you still live there. And I am so dog done glad. 🙂

Haha—mr. dotster just said, “You can start loving me again, ok?” (We’re both relieved this election is over) 🙂
😆 Roaring!!!! Send our love to Mr Dotster, Dotster!!!
Hahahaha! Amen. I was done with this election 2 weeks ago! 😉
Thanks a gazillion for all the kind words everyone, you made me blush all over again. Forward!!!!
I don’t think you truly realize how much you are loved and appreciated!!
There’s not enough we could say Chips, truly!
No THANK YOU!
Seriously babe. You and TOD keep me sane. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!
Chips, I look forward to seeing the international videos. I know ur on it.
Now removing, with the GREATEST pleasure ever, the link in the sidebar to ‘Get the facts about Romney’s false attacks’. Woooooooot!!!!
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOTTTTTYYYYTTTOOOOOTTTOOOOOTTTT!!!!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Right on Chips! Do your thing Mayoress!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Ha! It’s karma bizniotch! 😆
Karma is a B! 😆
I was only sorry to hear that Ryan got his old job back.
Chips the frontpage from Salt Lake Tribune
BUUUUUUUURN!
That’s a beaut Lamh, will add it to the post – thank you!
Those racists sick bastards.
Me too. But she’s going to be whining from the sidelines for the next 2 years.
Well forus50, you can’t have everything you want. So sorry to hear about that Bachmann and Canter.
WORKS FOR ME!
Four more years! What a beautiful day it is for the country and the world. Congratulations Chipsticks and everyone else who have worked tirelessly to re-elect our President. Four more years of our President and this wonderful blog!
Chips here are a couplee more newspaper Headlines – this time International!!!
Thank you Hopefruit, will check them out! Newseum is taking a LONG time for me to load at the moment, methinks they have a lot of visitors!
Watching colbear on comedy central . He predicts the kenyan muslin as the winnah. 🙂
Woot, woot. That guy is a genius.
Wow!
Very cool! Puts my crumbling “castles” to shame.
Well we can say so long Allen West and Joe Walsh.
Woot, woot, woot.
Chips, I still feel like I’m dreaming. But it’s the best dream I’ve ever had! Thank you so much for providing this refreshing, encouraging environment, thank you to all the my fabulous siblings in the TOD family. What a wonderful family. What a fabulous night.
Thank you Chips, for keeping me sane. I am still on cloud 9 and I am too old to be awake all night, but this is all worth the lack of sleep.
Isn’t that the truth? That was a shameful endorsement, reportedly ordered from some conservative publisher, with no regard to the interests of its readers and the state of Iowa.
NY Daily News too. I am not buying that rag anymore.
This
Thanks for never giving up to the trolls
Just beautiful Lisa, thank you so much, really gorgeous words and sentiments.
Beautiful and elegant. Thank you.
Tell it, sister! We have been so very fortunate that we landed in TODville, where there has been such a fine mixture of talent and personalities!
LOVE IT!! 🙂 Watching last night, it was amazing how much the girls had grown! They’re so poised and lovely! A testament to their mother & father!!
Adding my deep deep appreciation to chips for all the heroic efforts here, keeping us focused and marching forward, providing inspiration and humor and pick-me-ups when needed. And for the beautiful lineup here today. So thankful!
MORNING ALL!! Soaking in the wonderful feeling of President Obama winning!! I’m so happy, and feel relieved!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Boehner: Focus on ‘common ground’ to help avert fiscal cliff

Boehner will deliver a statement Wednesday afternoon calling on both sides to focus on a solution on tax rates and…
Who?
Mornin’, jovie – and thanks for all of the work you did on the ground to secure a second term for President Obama and Vice President Biden! I really appreciate it!
Here’s Mariah Carey’s beautiful Obama tribute song. It’s the live audio, which was a performance at a fundraiser for the President. Oh, and she wrote it in one day.

Daniel Strauss – 11/07/12 09:37 AM ET
With all precincts reporting, Democrat Heidi Heitkamp is leading Republican Rep. Rick Berg by only 3,000 votes.…
OMG I love that pic of BO, asking if he still lives at the White House!!
That’s too cute!!
I love this site almost as much as I love President Barack Obama. Four more years indeed!
COOL!!! Very very nice. 🙂
LMAO
BWAHAHAHAHAHA…….Sweet Schadenfreude.

Obama’s re-election applauded around the world
// LONDON — He won, and the word “phew” trended worldwide on Twitter.

Get that MSM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sam Wang of PEC
Bottom line: I will not have to eat a bug.
🙂
Also. Too.
I’ll give a more detailed look later, especially regarding our prediction challenge. For now, I think we can safely say that the following people had a good outcome: President Obama, Congressional Democrats, and quantitative poll analysts.
http://election.princeton.edu/2012/11/07/after-the-storm/
Well done, Sam and Nate.
Did you hear the story of the man who ate dozens of cockroaches in a roach-eating contest and then died?
yeah, I read it. What an idjit.
Well Reince Priebus is eating crow this morning. I hope he enjoy himself.
Good morning, beautiful people.
Hello BWD – I hope you were able to catch a few hrs of ZZZZ last night – well..er..this morning!! 🙂
GM bwd. Did ya manage to sleep at last ?….. Come on woman.

Great Morning blackwaterdog lol. I am still flying high. Hope you got some rest but if you are like most of us, you barely slept.
Naaa, didn’t sleep at all, but I feel like I can run marathon now. Joy to the world.
Joy To The World indeed!
I got my Christmas wish last night too!!
Now then, Ann Romney can get to work on that hair.
4 More Years Michelle Obama.
And her squeakly voice.
Ann should be fine, after all she LOVES women!

I absolutely LOVE this video.
Wow….wow…wow. Team Obama is a JUGGERNAUT. 😀

I think I know where Governor Romney got the idea from his concession speech last night.
Chips, thank you. And thanks for starting out this day with a series of wonderful pictures, especially the first couple in a warm embrace. She does indeed have her husband’s back.
Well said.
Oh, and Dana Milbank of all people, put his finger what we avoided in his description of last night. This is well worth the read: http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/dana-milbank-at-romney-headquarters-the-defeat-of-the-1-percent/2012/11/07/857d00f6-284a-11e2-96b6-8e6a7524553f_allComments.html?ctab=all_&
Ok folks, what were your best moments y’day as the state after state came in for our guy ? And why ?
I’ll start (HBO language warning)
1. IOWA (‘cos it all effing started there and we’re gonna effing end it here)
2. OHIO (jeep, jeep muthafuckahs)
3. VA (Eat it, you racist pigs)
4. MI (even those effing trees didn’t vote for the bot)
5. WI (Fuck you lyin’ voucher ryan)
6. PA (where the effing rethugs crash their boat election after election and still don’t know it)
7. FL (still fucking with us).
You nailed it! I would add Colorado for coming through and being true to who they are; Liberal pot smoking (LEGALLY!) communist socialist hippies. 🙂
I’ll take #5. Worst decision by Romney?…Ryan as VP choice.
That sums it up very “nicely,” lol.
Shows you don’t HAVE to win Florida to win an election. These people need to buy a clue.l
Yeah!!!
Team Obama ran the best campaign EVER. The behind the scenes info is ground breaking.
Thanks ut. A fantastic read. The smartest campaign team evah.

Woot, woot. Go Dems.
Where’s ntmarilyn? John Tester keeps his senate seat in Montana! I knew you were worried about it yesterday.
Yes!!!
Awesome awesome. Now maybe he can get on the O-train and stop being a DINO.
Yes, I will never forget his Dream Acts vote. The fucker better get behind the President this time.
OMG, This is so fantastic!!!! I had just checked and it was still undecided. This really proves money isn’t everything!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to all of us who have worked so hard for this day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will any of you guys check out the View and see how Elisabeth is doing this morning?
It’s nice of you to care about Elisabeth, but I hope her head (metaphorically) exploded last night along with Karl Rove, and if I never see her again, it will be too soon.
Speaking of the View, I was very much surprised by what Barbara Walters had to say about Obama winning a second term. She seemed very negative in siting historically that presidents have a harder time with scandal their second term and mentioned his daughters being ripe for scandal given they would be teenagers. The tone was so negative.
Good morning TOD Fam; it’s a beautiful day!
can’t wait to see what president obama has in store for dealing with house republicans this time. he probably had a good sense they’d keep the house, and we know he has a plan, especially without having to worry about re-election this time. should be masterful.
and if you haven’t seen this, imagine this scene repeating in 2016 on a national level. if she wants it, i think elizabeth warren can become america’s first female president.
john kerry from boston introduced barack obama to the world, and now barack obama has introduced elizabeth warren of boston to the world! she’s a perfect person to carry on president obama’s work.
whoops. meant to link this video instead.
Thank you for being a part of this,
Elizabeth
lmao @ cute Bo’s phlegmatic question pic.
Thank you so much, Chipsticks!
Folks get your cellphones out – I wanna know: Has Barack Obama won a 2nd term as President? Text “A” for yes, “B” for no. We’ll bring you the results at the end of the hour.
🙂 A to infinity!
I love your post JO’boomer!!!
It’s true that only 39% of whites in America voted for PBO. But I would wager that 90% of whites in the International community would have voted for him. The issue rests primarily with those in the American SOUTH.
Thanks!
And You Betcha about the bozos in the SOUTH.
^^^ THIS!!! ^^^
You’ve described exactly how I feel!!!
Awww, thanks!
Beautiful Jacqueline ~ love every word you wrote… stealing this part (if its okay?) to tweet: Dear People of America,
Do not even think of trying to steal my joy during President Obama’s second term
Thanks (and, of course!)!
thank YOU 🙂 done!
Beautiful.
Right on SL. Oooo you are gonna have to pay some rent or ransom for stealing my thoughts. 😀
Let me know what I owe ya, Sailor! 🙂
Dear JO’B,
Thanks, especially for the messages to the media. You may add my name beside yours before you pass it to them. 😉
Thanks so much, vc! I’ll be passing a bunch of words to them today!
Superb JO’B…you have said it all!
Thx!
Wow JO! you poured your heart out and the truth came out flowing like a mighty river.
Oh, thank you for all of that information! (I’m going to pass it on.)
New post everyone:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/11/07/the-moment-2/
This election should not have been this close. We have to overturn Citizen United. This time we squeezed by, I am not sure about next time.
I can not think about moving out of this country every four years, I am getting old!
Beautiful pictorials!
Thanks Chips, you always come through for us.
Congratulations Chipsticks, congratulations President Obama and congratulations USA.
