Then there is the example of Oregon and Washington where voting is by mail. It’s really about time that many states modernized the process of voting. The lines in Florida looked like those in Iraq, Egypt and South Sudan, all the places that have recently discovered the importance of voting.

You are so right AMK: this is “the best campaign team in the history of politics.” Just imagine all the tons of money poured into the efforts to defeat the President and he still prevailed. The Kochs, Adelson, Trump, and all those other billionaires and millionaires totally underestimated the discipline and organizational skills by the Obama team. Finally they found out that money can’t always buy love and respect.

The President loves his VP. He is not alone. We the people love the VP, Dr Biden his wife, and his entire family. VP Biden is authentic! What you see is what you get. But he also happens to be one the smartest and most accomplished politicians.

VP Truman became President in 1945 because FDR died in office. He run for election on his own in 1948 and almost lost. LBJ became President at the end of Nov., 1963, after JFK was assassinated. He run for election (or was it JFK re-election) on his own in 1964 and won a landslide victory. But then he dropped out in 1968 because of his unpopular war in Vietnam. Jimmy Carter was the next Democratic President, after LBJ, to win election, in 1976. He then lost re-election to Ronald Reagan in 1980.People forget that received almost 49% of the popular vote in the loosing effort. Personally, I think that if it hadn’t been for the Independent liberal John Anderson, who received more than 5% of the vote, Jimmy Carter would have won re-election. The Next Democratic President after Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, won his first Presidential election with slightly over 43% of the Popular vote. That’s because Independent candidate Ross Perot garnered 19% of the popular vote. Bill Clinton subsequently won his re-election with 49% of the popular vote. In other words, at no time did the 50+% of Americans vote for the now popular President Bill Clinton. Barack Obama won his first term with 53% of the popular vote, the highest vote received by a Democratic Presidential candidate since LBJ in 1964. If, after all the votes are counted, the President wins 50+% of the popular vote, he will indeed be the first Democratic President, since FDR, to win re-election with the majority of the popular votes. By the way right wingers and their pundits enablers wish to bring up the issue of popular votes, all we need to do is remind them that George W. Bush, the looser of the popular vote to VP Gore by more than half a million, became the President while Al Gore wen’t home.
The role of citizen does not end with your vote! Yes…..being a good citizen is something we need to re-learn. He knows this and will encourage all of us to become contributing citizens. Citizen is a rich word.
