    Roasted turkey breast
    Mashed taters
    Stuffing
    Roasted asparagus

    Simple, but comforting

THE LOVE!!! I FEEEL THE LOVE!!! I WOULD have stayed transfixed on TOD but other life-al STUFF intervened. We actually ate at Denny’s. GACK! No offense to any Denny’s fans, cooks, employees…etc. The 11 year old boy wanted pancakes and eggs. It wasn’t that bad. … really. Not in a hurry to go back though!! The wife brought home an overpriced Whole (paycheck) Foods stuffed beef roast thing. It looks good!

    • November 4, 2012 at 8:04 pm

We had the roast and potatoes on this end too! I tried a different recipe to cook the roast in the oven. I cut it up in pieces, (cut the pieces away from the fat), browned them, browned some onions and garlic, cut up the potatoes. Then dumped some beef broth, onions, garlic, the browned beef in a pan, covered it tight and let it ride for 3 hours. Hot damn…tender, delicious and now we have an empty pan. 🙂

My response to a commenter on my TPV piece:

I won’t bother replying directly to that gentleman/lady, as his/her sense of victimhood makes him/her part of the real 47% who think they’re victims, oppressed by evil liberals, and is thus beyond reach. But a few points have to be made

His perception that we want to kill him is projection of the grossest sort. Eliminationsim is a staple of the Right, not the Left. Do I want to kill him? Of course not. But I do want the Right’s influence in American life to be as negligible as possible.

Sheila enumerated the fallacies in his “pro-life/cheap energy” rationale for voting for the Right. We can pump all the oil out of the ground in the US, and it won’t move the price of energy down one scintilla; energy markets are global, and prices are set on those markets. Now, if he’s arguing that we should keep our oil for ourselves, then the question should be “What do we do when we run out of oil?” And if we were to do that, that would be a pressing question. But, such a question would puncture his bubble, so better not to ask it.

As for being pro-life? I have great arguments with the Catholic Church of my upbringing; but I can grudgingly respect it because of the fact that its pro-life position is absolute; it’s against abortion, but also against war and the death penalty. It’s for caring for the person throughout his life. Most of those on the Right have a fetish for the fetus, without a parallel concern for the child once it’s born. After you exit the womb, you’re on your own. If that isn’t anti-life, I don’t know what is. And of course there’s the support for the death penalty and the proud militarism.

The Gustapo, I mean Husted on CNN, trying his best to disenfranchise voters.
At most he will disenfranchise maybe 1000 voters, with his BS provisional ballots cry.
He just wanted Don Lemon to interview him, to demoralize the AA community, before Tuesdays Vote.

    It’s a dirty trick…!
I would think, that AA would not be deturred after all they have been through!
It might, in fact, motivate our whole Base.
I hope POTUS touches on it, at Rally.

One quick story from my trip to Appleton Wisconsin; it’s a 3 hour drive from Chicago and I decided to listen to the radio and not turn the political ads off. OMG, non-stop. But the Obama/Baldwin were matching the Romney/Thompson ones so that was good. Most hilarious though was an ad for Lyin Ryan. It had this woman saying ” I understand that Paul Ryan’s name is shown on the ballot twice. Is that legal?” And then some guy says, “Yes, it is legal and you should vote for him twice. Once for Vice President and once for your congressman.” LMAO. Having to pay for advertising to keep his back-up plan.

  25. November 4, 2012 at 7:41 pm

President Obama is monitoring the federal government’s response to Hurricane Sandy even as he spends the day crisscrossing the country to close out his re-election campaign.

Obama got an update by conference call Sunday from senior White House aides and two administration officials on the ground in the region: Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate.

“The president made clear that he expects his team to stay completely focused on meeting the needs of our state and local partners, and the families that have been impacted by the storm,” the White House said after the briefing.

According to the White House, the Defense Department and FEMA are still bringing fuel into the region. The Energy Department also said Sunday that it’s formed a team that is working with state and local authorities to identify gas stations running short of fuel supplies or without power and in need of emergency generators.

To date, some 164,000 Connecticut, New Jersey and New York residents have also applied for FEMA help and the agency has approved more than $137 million for rentals and other forms of aid to people affected by the storm, the White House said.

Fugate is in New York Sunday to view damage in Queens and also visit with Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York Mayor MIchael Bloomberg and Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand. Napolitano was scheduled to visit Monmouth County and Hoboken, N.J., and also meet with Gov. Chris Christie and other New Jersey state and local officials.

Tien Le, the only time I have actively listened to Mitt is during the final presidential debate – I always mute him. However, I will listen to him one last time when, after he concedes victory to PBO Tuesday night, he turns on the pseudo journalists such as Todd, Tapper and Gregory and demand an explanation for their gross misrepresentation of his true status during the campaign. Why did they mislead him with false reporting of how the American people really felt about his bid for the presidency?

    • 85 jacquelineoboomer
      November 4, 2012 at 7:56 pm

Mitt will blame Ann and the five “kids” for his loss, plus Chris Christie, plus everyone on his campaign team, and maybe some Olympians from the old days in SLC, Bibi for denying they were friends, and Seamus, the company who hired the “illegal” when he was running for office for god sake, and Teddy Kennedy’s words on video, and then he’ll blame Todd, Tapper and Gregory. My take.

Good evening Chips and TOD family. I do feel the tide turning for Obama. I love how the people are fighting for the right to vote. I am on the sad side for my state of MT. Looks like the Tea Party is taking over MT. I am pissed at OFA for not allowing the offices here to call people in MT. We were all told that we were going to loose MT so why fight for it. We look like we might loose Tester too, so now we will have to put up with Rehberg. I wish they would have allowed us to work for our state. I am depressed for us. But I do the country will be in good hands with Obama.

Thank you Chips for keeping this such a wonderful place for us to come. It has been a heaven for me. Last week my husband had his left hip replaced. In January he had his right hip replaced. I sure am ready for these operations to be all over. He is doing wonderful, but the first few weeks are exhausting for me. He did have an extra surgery on Monday. The surgical team and the doctor left an extra pin in his leg and had to go back in to take it out. 2 surgeries in one day was alittle scary but everything is fine now.

They are lucky the President has the temperament he has, and is leader enough to set, and enforce, a peaceful tone. Unless they did it on purpose, hoping for a (physical) confrontation that would make headlines and therefore cause some ‘lost momentum’?

forever indeed. this election has galvanized our attention, but it’s one [very big, very important] fight in an ongoing resistance to the powers of greed and opression. we don’t buy anything from dow chemical in this household, and bayer aspirin has been banned since ww2!! still feel a little funny buying grapes…

  73. November 4, 2012 at 8:48 pm

It’s the end of day two of the marathon staging location director job and I reached a wall of exhaustion. Now regrouping to gather strength for the last two days. We are focusing on the Latino dominated wards, which have been targeted by the president’s campaign and are finding very high levels of enthusiasm for PBO. Our task now is to get them out the door on Tuesday. All our canvassers say that they are getting very welcome receptions at Latino homes and have never had so much fun hitting the doors. Living in a red county, they’re basking in the rare pleasure of finding so many supporters who are happy to see them. I can tell you that the name Romney is almost a curse for some Latinos. He has certainly managed to cut a huge swath of anger among these voters. Much as people love PBO, the anger is serving as a nice motivator for getting sporadic voters to the polls. Night all. I’m fast getting past the point of coherent thought. Two more days!!!

He danced with **me**, and there was no delusion about it. My spirit danced with his, while I sang along with Stevie in a beautiful voice. I saw and experienced it all, smiling throughout, and you both can’t say otherwise just because you didn’t see. Doesn’t psychology believe imagination is a good thing (particularly in the young)? So there! 😀

That’s the beauty of it all, ain’t it, LS? We can both lay claim to that special dance, along with many others, I’d bet. A president for the people and of the people, and a lovely human being.

Forus50, I am totally with you and AMK! Also, too, the way Nebraska is trending I think he will win one electoral vote from there giving him 348EVs. I am also not yet counting out Arizona given the level of Latino/Hispanic enthusiasm that the polls may be missing. The President may end up with 359EVs on Tuesday. So, my range is 347-359 EVs for my Great President.

Did anyone notice at the end of his speech he pointed to two separate points in the audience and asked if they were alright? This was before he started dancing with me.

A measure of a man is how he cares for the least of us and all that jazz. I bet those people appreciated that. If you missed it check when it becomes available. Very touching -and personal- the more so because it was in the midst of the jubilant, screaming crowd.
