Unions Recruit New Allies on Obama’s Behalf in Battleground States

The Service Employees International Union has helped establish a community-labor coalition called Wisconsin Jobs Now, which has pushed to raise the minimum wage and stop cuts to Medicaid. The group has enlisted 130 block captains, many in Milwaukee’s poorest neighborhoods, to distribute campaign literature and drive hundreds of residents to the polls….

Greg Lewis, minister at St. Gabriel’s Church of God and Christ, has recruited 207 pastors, most of them African-American, to join the coalition’s get-out-the-vote effort…

OHIO SECRETARY OF STATE JON HUSTED MAKES A MOCKERY OF HIS OATH OF OFFICE

…..ensure a fair, transparent and efficient voting process in which all Ohioans, and voters across the nation, can be confident.

      —————————————-

Columbus – Surrounded by family, friends, supporters and fellow elected officials, and standing in the Ohio House of Representatives Chamber where he once served as Speaker of the Ohio House, Jon Husted was sworn in as Ohio’s 53rd Secretary of State.
      .
      .
Secretary Husted’s oath marked his fifth in the House Chamber following two as a State Representative and two as Speaker of the Ohio House. For the past two years, Husted has served as State Senator from the 6th Ohio Senate District.

“It has been an enlightening journey for me as I reflect upon and mark the time through the oaths of office taken in this chamber,” Husted said to a packed room. “With every new oath, the job has, in my mind, become progressively less about me and more about all of you and the responsibility of public service.”

As Secretary of State, Husted serves as Ohio’s chief elections officer. His highest priority is to collaborate with local elections boards to improve the overall administration of elections. As Ohio again looks to be the heart of it all in the 2012 Presidential Election, Secretary Husted wants to ensure a fair, transparent and efficient voting process in which all Ohioans, and voters across the nation, can be confident.

“With every new oath, the job has, in my mind, become progressively less about me and more about all of you and the responsibility of public service.”

IMO, that statement there is an indication of one of the ‘changes’ the Obama presidency has released on the nation. PBO has spoken so often about it not being about him that other politicians are picking up the argument…even if their actions do not match, they’re copying language they think work.

So 14,000 people of the 43,000 NH came out today to see PBO and BC. That more than 1/3 the population of the state. How is the race close there? Perhaps enthusiasm gap. Chuck Todd should investigate.

In the 2008 election Chuck Todd was excellent with the election numbers and explanations using the electoral map. He seemed to excel in that capacity. Since that time he has been promoted out of the area of his expertise and adopted a shaping the news instead of reporting the news attitude. He seems to have gone partisan against PBO, maybe in compliance with his station owners’ expectations maybe in feeling his own fame and power rising. People seem to rise to places they are no longer capable or good at a lot. In this case IMO Chuck Todd is out of his league and I will not watch his shows.

I wonder if they can arrest him, because the above article does say that Ohio allows experimental voting equipment, though it seems they are going beyond the restricted use in limited areas that the law allows.

      /…
could possibly affect over 4 million registered voters, including those in the state’s most populated counties near Cleveland and Columbus.

Under Ohio law, experimental use of voting equipment is permitted as long as it is restricted to a limited number of precincts. Under the experimental label, equipment can legally be used without certification.
      …/

      • November 4, 2012 at 3:16 pm

“Experimental equipment” pertains to e-voting EQUIPMENT = HARDWARE, not the SOFTWARE that runs it. Patching every TABULATOR with “experimental” SOFTWARE should be illegal under ALL CIRCUMSTANCES.

Otherwise, what is there to stop every GOP SoS from installing software that makes sure the higher total always favors their candidates in every precinct?

Election “Observers” can’t see code working. The DOJ needs to either pull all the machines & tabulators and have people to come in and hand count the ballots – like they do EVERYWHERE ELSE ON PLANET EARTH, or audit the code NOW, and still sequestor the machines.

Is there exit polling in Ohio?

        • 58 vcprezofan2
          November 4, 2012 at 3:33 pm

I share your concern re these machines and have been ever since I saw a programmer testifying re Florida a while back, and I agree ” ‘experimental’ SOFTWARE should be illegal”. I have zero knowledge of law, however the use of ‘SHOULD’ makes me wonder if it is so specified in Ohio, and if it isn’t I’m wondering if the SoS COULD be arrested.

Here’s the voting fraud video that initially raised my concerns

I just got through last night and this morning posts…..I need a nap now but I am gonna go volunteer making calls for OFA.

Desertflower: Thank you for the Open Letter to the President, it was so moving that it brought me to tears how this mother who probably felt the same as Stanley Ann Obama did the day see brought her wonderful son into the world. How was she going to raise this remarkable little life to be the best person he could be in a America that to this day looks down on bi-racial children and african american young men. I feel that LL’s post was so true that President Obama has changed this world, politics, and hopefully Democrats for years to come.

This is why people love Biden!!!

    Biden gives 17-year-old exclusive ride

Cleveland (CNN) – She and Joe Biden may now be BFFs. A 17-year-old high schooler and the Vice President of the United States could end up being “best friends forever” after Biden surprised the young lady with the ultimate offer – and the pictures to prove it.

    LLs extraodinary piece…….

What his re-election means is that a generation will come of age aware of its own power, of its own ability to shape its world, hopeful, not jaundiced, raised in a world where it’s expected that we help each other as a community, rather than looking solely after the main chance.

This is what change feels like. This is what victory feels like. This is what a better world feels like. This is what justice and compassion feel like. This is what people, ordinary people, banding together to fight the powers of the world feels like. America is choosing, and unless every statistic is a lie, it’s choosing for hope, for justice, for fairness, for equality.

Jovie, don’t run up your blood pressure. we’ve got this. unless those asses cheat, we’ll win this election and even if they cheat, PBO has lawyers swarming on the swing states. Let them bluster and fluster as much as they want. The have rhetoric, we have the votes.

    • 84 criquet
      November 4, 2012 at 3:03 pm

No, the MSM knows very well what is happening with the early vote where PBO is leading and in some cases by large margins. The MSM is complicit in the Rethug spin and lies. They need to be shamed and discarded, most of the MSM.

      • 85 Sandy1110
        November 4, 2012 at 3:20 pm

Exactly. The MSM is owned by the GOP; they’re helping keep the lie alive so they don’t depress GOP turnout. If they admit the truth, their voters won’t bother getting out the vote on Tuesday.

        • 86 Virginia
          November 4, 2012 at 4:16 pm

What they’re trying to do is depress OUR turnout. They want us to think that it’s useless to come out and vote–but we ain’t that stupid. We can see what’s going on around us! And it’s not going to Work.

  26. 87 carolyn
    November 4, 2012 at 2:41 pm

Just wondering here…….did it take all these Republican schemes to disenfranchise people to awaken citizens to the importance of voting? Did they begin to sense their democracy slipping away? Has the giant really been awakened? I certainly hope so, and by these early voting numbers I am beginning to believe so. I do believe from now on we will never take our vote and our democracy for granted again. We cannot and will not be bought.

    • November 4, 2012 at 2:56 pm

Carolyn, the ‘sleeping giant’ is very awake and engaged. Dudes like Scott & Husted are in for some really serious consequences of their actions. I have never seen anything like what we are witnessing in FL & OH these past couple of days and every one is aware of the scale of turnout in the face of blatant suppression.

Just check the links in these two tweets (lots more images like these have been being posted from various States ever since early voting started in each of them):

i went to seek out food and came back to strange voices in my room. Opened the door and what do I find? that stupid CNN livestream was on and an idiot repuke running for a senate seat was declaring victory because polls say PBO and Willard are tied 48-48. I immediately shut it off but not before chuckling: “idiot repukes, never let math stand in their way!” No mention of the electoral votes, just stupid polls saying that they are tied nationally. 🙄 hahahahahahahha!!!
